[Remalade]

Hatori let himself into the house with his spare key and immediately went up to Niran's room to see if he was ready. He was relieved to see the star already putting on his makeup. "You look nice." he muttered, running his fingers through his blonde locks with a small smile. The manager went to take a few painkillers from Niran's bathroom so he wouldn't get a headache from the music at the party, then settled down on his bed to wait for him. "Are you excited for the album release?" he asked amid a yawn.

[Kotorichan]

Niran smiled slightly when he saw Hatori. "thanks, so do you..." He frowned slightly at the question and went back to doing his makeup. "Have I ever been excited for an album release? It's so dumb... Why do they have to make such a big deal out of it? My fans will buy the album even if they don't throw a weird party"

[Remalade]

Hatori shook his head and leaned back against his bed. He relaxed on the soft pillows, but he didn't dare close his eyes, lest he drift off to sleep. "It's good for publicity. Also, plenty of people in the music industry attend these events, so it's good for networking and making connections you can use in the future." he muttered. Hatori got up from the bed and stood behind Niran with a chuckle. "Stop being grouchy about it. Maybe you'll have a good time tonight."

[Kotorichan]

Niran finished his makeup and turned to Hatori. "I'd rather just stay here and write music or spend time with you... I'll pretty much have to ignore you while we're there" he pouted and turned away to put his things away. "Besides, I'm always grouchy... You should know that better than anyone"

[Remalade]

"It'll be fine. And trust me, I know, brat." Hatori laughed. "Alright, if you're ready then let's go." he added as he held out a hand to the other. As Niran had said, they couldn't interact very much in public, but he was willing to take what little he could get.

[Kotorichan]

Niran took his hand and leaned up to kiss him on the cheek. "whatever, old man" he teased, giving his hand a light squeeze. "Will you be able to sleep over again tonight? I'm sure I'll have all kinds of things that I'll have to go to once my album is out..."

[Remalade]

Hatori couldn't help smiling at his teasing words. "Watch it, brat." he muttered, squeezing his hand in return. "And two kisses in one day? How sweet." he teased back. "As to that, we'll have to see. Honestly, you might be able to sleep over at my place. We could just use the excuse that mine is closer to the studio." he shrugged. As they got closer to the front door, he turned to Niran and let go of his hand. "Are you ready?"

[Kotorichan]

Niran rolled his eyes. "I took a nap while you were gone so it feels like two different days" he huffed. The young star pushed his hair back and stood up straighter, making sure he was presentable in case there was any paparazzi outside. "Yeah, let's get going" he put on his usual bright smile.

[Remalade]

Hatori thought that the other looked even cuter with his hair pushed back, but he didn't comment on it. He led Niran to the car and noted that a few stray photographers were lingering on the street. He scowled at them but didn't prohibit them from taking photos as they got into the car and drove away. The trip to the party didn't take long, but the late night traffic made it a bit frustrating. Reporters were already waiting in the lobby of the expensive hotel, and they nearly had to fight to get to the elevator up to the penthouse. The party was already in full swing. Hatori opted to watch carefully from the sidelines while Niran was eagerly welcomed into the crowd.

[Kotorichan]

Niran kept a bright smile for the photographers. He let the smile fade away while they were in the car, but it came back as soon as they stopped. He stayed as cheerful as possible while they pushed through the reporters, appearing to be truly sorry that he didn't have time to answer all their questions. He looked overjoyed to be greeted by everyone, despite the fact that he wanted nothing more than to leave. He greeted everyone who came up to him, the star managed to remember the names of everyone he had met at previous parties.

[Remalade]

Hatori could tell that he was uncomfortable, but he only needed to hold out for a few more hours. Once midnight hit and the album was officially released, he was free to leave. Then they would get to spend at least a bit more time together, perhaps. Hopefully Niran would think of it that way. The manager frowned deeply when he noticed a familiar figure making his way towards Niran.

 

The tall man was Kida, a popular actor who'd recently released a pop single. The song was crap, but he'd had enough fangirls to keep the song floating on the charts for a few weeks, so he'd been clinging to musical stardom ever since. But Hatori didn't hate him just because he was a talentless fake. He hated him because Kida had a thing for Niran. It had started at some random red carpet event where Kida had been watching him like a hawk all night, which Niran hadn't noticed, but Hatori certainly had. It had burned him up, but that was back before they had addressed their feelings for each other, so he couldn't have said anything. Even now, he knew it would be better to keep his mouth shut and wait for him to go away.

 

"Good evening, Niran! What a nice outfit." Kida complimented, taking a sip of the drink in his hand with a bright smile that hid the predatory gleam in his eyes.

[Kotorichan]

"Hi there Kida" Niran said brightly, smiling up at him. "Thanks, you look good too" he lightly pushed his hair back out of his face. "There's so many people here, it's always kinda surprising" He laughed softly and turned back to the actor. "I'm glad you made it, you must be pretty busy too."

[Remalade]

"Yeah, my schedule is packed pretty tight, but I knew that I couldn't miss the one and only Niran at his album release party." Kida grinned.

 

Meanwhile, Hatori tried to contain his annoyance. He knew that if he went over there and tried to get Niran away from him, the jerk would surely cause a scene. And the way that Niran was smiling at him so cheerfully wasn't exactly helping Hatori's rising jealousy.

 

"Hey Niran, have you ever considered acting? I was talking to a few directors at the studio yesterday and they need an actor for a minor role in a new movie they're shooting, and I think you'd be perfect. What do you think?" Kida asked hopefully.

[Kotorichan]

Niran's eyes widened at his suggestion. "Acting? I don't know, I haven't done any kind of acting since a mandatory school play when I was like twelve" He laughed. "I wouldn't mind trying out, but I don't want to end up ruining a movie with horrible acting. I wouldn't want them to hire me because I have fans and then mess the whole thing up"

[Remalade]

"No no, I'm sure you'd do great! Why don't we sit down and talk about this a bit more?" The actor suggested, leading Niran to one of the tables in the back, farther away from everyone else.

 

Hatori felt his annoyance reach an all time high when Kida led the other away. How the hell was he supposed to keep an eye on him from so far away. If that tall jerk tried anything, Hatori would lose it. The manager frowned deeply as he began thinking of how to get Niran away from him.

 

"The plot is a dramatic portrayal of a husband and wife trying to fix their marriage. They already have the couple cast, they just need someone to play the "rebel-type" son. You'd only be in a few scenes, so you'd only have to come to filming for a few days, then you're in the movie. I suggested you immediately and all of the directors were excited. This could be the start acting career, Niran. You should give it a shot."

[Kotorichan]

Niran followed him to the table, not thinking anything of it. He sat down and smiled at Kida. "I could definitely talk to my manager about it. I don't know if I have any space in my schedule... Are you going to be playing the husband? You seem like you'd be way too young for that" He laughed softly. "Or are you going to be the handsome young man that the wife is having an affair with?"

[Remalade]

As Hatori debated just going over and making up an excuse, the host of the party came over to talk to him. "Hatori-san, have you seen Niran? There's this really famous American producer that wants to meet him."

 

"Sure, I'll bring him over." Hatori replied, glad to have a reason to interrupt.

 

Meanwhile, Kida wasn't letting up. "Are you sure? Maybe you're schedule could be changed around a little. This is a really good opportunity for you Niran, and I don't think anyone deserves it as much as you do." he smiled warmly, placing his hand gently on top of Niran's.

 

Hatori approached just in time to see the seemingly innocent contact, and he scowled deeply but managed to straighten his expression quickly. "Niran, there are some important people that would like to meet you." he interjected. The manager's gaze drifted to Kida, but the actor merely stared back, not threatened by Hatori's presence.

 

"Perhaps we can talk again next week. If you come to a decision on that offer, let me know. See you later, Niran!" the star grinned, shooting Hatori a glare that no one else noticed before leaving.

[Kotorichan]

Niran had no idea why Kida was being so pushy, but he kept smiling cheerfully. "I'll talk to my manager, I'm sure he'll figure something out" He tried not to look to relieved when Hatori came over. He stood up and gave the other star a slight wave. "Yeah, I'll see you later Kida"

The boy turned to look at Hatori. "Who wants to see me?" Niran asked, still sounding cheerful and casual in case someone was listening to them.

[Remalade]

"Some American producer. It will probably be beneficial for you to chat with him a bit." Hatori answered, feeling less annoyed now that Kida was out of sight. He led Niran to where the wealthy man was waiting, lingering nearby just in case. The rest of the party passed fairly quickly, mostly punctuated by playing more of Niran's songs and the host giving a speech about how proud he was of Niran and how much he was looking forward to the new music. When midnight hit, balloons and confetti rained from the ceiling and the party became even more lively. Hatori wandered through the crowd until he finally found Niran.

 

"Ready to go?" he asked.

[Kotorichan]

Niran had ended up talking to most of the people at the party, even if it was exchanging words for just a few moments. He felt completely exhausted by midnight. It was hard enough to spend time with a bunch of people and pretending to be cheerful the entire time just made him feel worse. He was just about ready to punch someone in the face and go hide in the bathroom. The young star tried not to look too relieved when Hatori approached him. "Yeah, I guess so" He smiled, hoping he didn't sound too eager.

[Remalade]

Hatori nodded and started towards the door, bowing politely to other important people on his way out. He gave an audible sigh of relief when they were alone in the elevator, but he still didn't say anything until they were in the sanctuary of the car. "Thank god that's over." the manager muttered, starting the car and pulling away. "It's already pretty late, so you might as well stay at my place tonight."

[Kotorichan]

Niran lay back in his seat with a loud groan of annoyance. "That sucked so much" he whined. "Everyone wants to talk to me at those things, and Kida was being all weird and pushy about that dumb movie. I already have enough to do, why do I have to get into acting?" he pushed his hair back out of his face. "I know I was joking about acting because I'm always acting when I'm in public, but that'd be so much work..."

[Remalade]

Hatori's hands tightened around the steering wheel at the mention of the other man, and he rolled his eyes. "Don't even talk about that guy around me, seriously." he grumbled, a bit of his jealousy showing through for the first time. "But he said something about you being in a movie? I don't know, that might be something to consider. It couldn't hurt to get a little acting experience under your belt." The manager shrugged.

[Kotorichan]

Niran frowned and looked over at the older man. "Why? What's wrong with Kida?I thought I was the only one who found him annoying..." he sighed and turned to look out the window. "Yeah, I guess it might be good... He just kept pushing it so it was sorta weird..."

[Remalade]

"He's....never mind." Hatori responded. He decided to just leave it. There was no need to make the situation between the two even more awkward, especially when they might end up working together in the future. They soon arrived to Hatori's home, and he was glad when they could finally relax. The manager immediately went to flop down on his couch and loosened the expensive tie around his neck.
