AceOfDiamonds Posted June 29, 2014 Share Posted June 29, 2014 Akatsuki looked at the river flowing along in front of him. he watched the fish swim by, listened to the birds sing, felt a nice breeze push his hair back. It was a peaceful day, and that's usually fine, but today he felt restless. Akatsuki threw his back down on the ground with an oof, and let his arms spread out. "Jeez, today's too slow... I wish something cool would happen to occupy me until tomorrow at least. come on~.." Akatsuki complained aloud. He mindlessly grabbed a stick laying beside him and tossed it as far as he could. A quick panic washed over him "I was joking about the bear you know" he said under his breath. He quickly flipped himself onto his stomach and pushed himself to his feet, he then raised his arms in a defensive pose unsure what he was about to face. A man. That was what was before him. Not a bear, but a man. Akatsuki dropped his arms and let out his air with relief. He began to stretch out his arms and legs to remove his tension "Man you scared me. Who are you? I didn't hear you until you were like, 7-, no 10 steps away. You shouldn't-" Then he finally got a good look at who was standing before him. he had to stop stretching. the person was wearing the most peculiar clothing, none which Akatsuki had seen before. Right now we're just outside of Delham. I'm still here because when I walked through the people told me that there's a festival tomorrow, and let me tell you, I love celebrations." Akatsuki leisurely put his arm around Yamato as this was the best way for him to 'listen' to him. "Why are you here, and once again, what is with that getup? I've never seen such a style." Not from you're world. I have the power to travel between worlds. Well, Akatsuki didn't want to remain skeptical, especially since he could do things that weren't considered normal. "So..." Akatsuki began "You're not from around here, to say the least, and you're going to be here for a while no? I guess it's a good thing you bumped into me then! Let me give you a quick survival guide. Stay here" He gave Yamato a pat on the back and turned towards the bush where he had hidden his bag away. "You really shouldn't tell anyone else about you not being from around here. We don't do any witch burnings anymore but a lot of people still aren't friendly towards those who are... Different. And I really was being polite about your clothes, if someone who wasn't as nice saw you they might... you know..." Unable to say the word Akatsuki finally pulled out his bag, tuned to Yamato, and drew a line across his neck while sticking out his tongue "if you know what I mean. Here wear this over your clothes." He could feel how Yamato felt a little lonely and lost. "How about we walk into town and get a bed at the inn. I was originally just going to sleep outside but I'd feel bad if I just left you..." Akatsuki pulled in Yamato's arm and guided him to the town. "It's not so bad here, plus there's going to be a festival and those last all day and night, so why don't you try to have some fun before leaving." Akatsuki gave a reassuring smile. The town was alive with villagers setting up for the festival. Akatsuki admired the pretty flowers and streamers, the sweet smell of bread, the sound of laughter. By the time he and Yamato approached the inn Akatsuki was skipping along with glee. Before entering he quickly turned to Yamato "Do you happen to have any money on you?" "Well, I guess these coins will work, but the other stuff you should probably just keep" He handed back the paper o Yamato and headed into the inn. "Akatsuki! welcome back, and so soon! I thought you were going somewhere else for the night." The bartender called. "Well I bumped into my friend Yamato, who isn't someone who is as comfortable in the open as me so we decided to come here instead. Do you have a room for 2?" Akatsuki replied. "hhmmmm.... Unfortunately not, with the festival and all it's quite busy, lots of couples... But we do have some single and triple rooms if you'd like." "What are your rates?" "50 coppers for a room and one bed, plus 25 coppers for every extra bed. First night is free, but the following days cost 10 coppers per bed. You can also get access to the bathhouse for 10 coppers each and you can come and go whenever you want." Well, assuming that we're only going to stay for 2 nights, the least expensive option would cost 60 coppers, and the most 1 silver and 50 coppers. Akatsuki thought to himself as he counted up his money. I could afford the room for 3 but it would leave me broke by the end of the festival, and I'd rather not be left with nothing on me... I can practically save a silver and I only have 3 of them on me... Akatsuki turned to Yamato "Do you mind if we share a room with only one bed? I can sleep on the floor..." Embarrassed, Akatsuki turned to face the wall to try and hide his reddened face. "OK... I'll uhhh, try to strike us a deal or somethin' ok?" When his face cooled down a little Akatsuki turned to the inn keeper. "So we'll take the one bed for two nights" Akatsuki said as he slid him Yamato's coins. The inn keeper looked at the coins with a confused look. "Look, I know that they're not copper coins, but they've got to be worth 60 coppers right?" Akatsuki bargained. "Eh, I'm not so sure" replied the bartender as he examined the coins. "What if we also eat here tonight and pay with real coins?" "I just need something up front." "Then we will both take that bath pass. So I'll give you all of this metal plus 20 coppers for the room and bath." "And you'll be eating here" And with that Akatsuki handed the inn keeper Yamato's money and 20 coppers. The inn keeper then handed him a key. Akatsuki thought about how if they both wanted to fit on the bed that they would have to be practically on top of each other. He thought about how close they would be, and he could feel his face redden once again. Akatsuki was friendly, but it had been years since he slept so close to another person. Trying to put the image out of his head Akatsuki threw his bag on the ground and turned to Yamato. Akatsuki picked this spot because he was finding it difficult to look at Yamato in the eyes, sitting beside each other was more convenient. Akatsuki ordered them a basic meal, bread, vegetables, a bit of meat, and some ale. Akatsuki always had a problem with eating meat and so he asked Yamato "Do you want my meat?" but as soon as the words left his mouth he regretted his choice of words. He honestly meant it as an innocent question, but when he directed it to Yamato it started to take a different meaning in his head. "From my meal I mean, like this meat, not my meat..." But he felt like he just made the situation worse. At this moment he could feel his face turn red and all he wanted to do was hide his face. Feeling a bit more comfortable now that he had Yamato laugh for the first time he turned to him and watched him eat. "So you good for a bath right? I don't know what it was like back at your home but here the only way to get warm water is at a bath house. A grin spread across his face "Last one in is a stinky foot!" With quick, fluid motions Akatsuki's cloak was cast off, leaving him only with his pants, but those didn't stay on for very long either. He raised his foot above the water and wiggled his toes "You're the stinky foot" he taunted Yamato. He then let his foot plop right back into the water and tilted his head back "Sorry if I'm being a pain. I'm kind of a wanderer so I don't spend too much time with people. I do make quick friends with the townspeople in the places I visit, but most of my time is spent alone. So I guess what I'm trying to say is thanks for hanging out with me, and uh... If it isn't too much trouble, do you want to hang out a little longer, at least until the end of the festival tomorrow? I know that you've probably got some friends and family back home and you want to see them, but..."
