{｡^◕‿◕^｡}Ciel Posted July 21, 2014 Share Posted July 21, 2014 Plot~ A prince is forced to marry a princess, though he secretly dates a peasant man, and they marry in secret. Mattew Beaumont Matthew wasn't the most well man in the lands. Dirtied, freckled, and just one of the regular peasants that muddy feet and scratched up cheeks, he was used to the struggles and the hardships that came with being one of the under-class. Although he was with the middle-class population, he took interests in reading, his nose always caught in a novel, his glasses pushed up the slightest bit towards his nose, although they could be seen slowly sliding down the flecked bridge occasionally. He usually sat outdoors with these books, sat under trees, found a relaxing, comforting place to read. Though, when he wasn't getting lost in the fantasies and thrills of a novel, he would ride horses over towards the majesty's palace, handing in delivered mail. He usually was never permitted inside, though it was a nice change of scene compared to the slowly ripping pages of an old book. And today just so happened to be one of those days, where he rode one of the horses that his job permitted him, and was making his way towards the royalty's palace. Prince Alexios yawned and stretched as he awoke late,dressed and fed by servants before realizing that today was mail day. He receives a letter from a princess every Sunday,to see which he liked best to be wed. But Alexios didn't want a woman,though his mother and father insisted on a Princess to accompany him. As the peasant arrived,his parents weren't home and he commanded the servants not to say a word. On some rare days,he would allow the peasant in for a meal,and to borrow a few books from their library. As Matthew arrived,he smiled. "Hello,dear messenger. More letters from princesses,I assume?" he chuckled. "My parents are out today,so you can come in. I'll let you use the bath and maybe you can stay for a meal." said Alexios. Prince Alexios was one to dislike having to treat others that aren't royalty poorly,so he always invites peasants in to bathe and eat when his parents aren't around to tell him otherwise. {｡^◕‿◕^｡}Ciel Posted July 21, 2014 Author Share Posted July 21, 2014 Matthew looked considerably tired as he greeted the prince...though it was probably the dirt and the bags beneath hsi eyes from staying up long nights and reading to his heart's content. When he swung off his horse, he knelt down to the prince, his head hung in respect for the older man as he then answered the dark-haired prince's question, "Yes, your majesty." Matthew wasn't really one to say much, mostly trying to show respect for the hierarchy, not wanting to prod into the royalty's personal life nor wanting to seem like a pesky rat. Though he hardly spoke, he usually wore a rather kind smile on his face. "A bath seems pleasant, thank you for your charity, your majesty." He offered the noble a rather peppy smile, merriment in his eyes. This was the only time when he actually got a good bath, or really a delightful meal. He finally stood, his pants now a bit dirtied from the dusty ground he knelt on. Sheepishly, he offered the prince the handful of specially decorated letters, rocking his heels the slightest bit in nervousness. What if his parents were to be notified of this...? After letting Matthew bathe and eat,they went down to the library. "Pick out whatever books your heart desires. I can just say I've lost them." said Alexios,letting Matthew pick up a few books. Soon,Alexios hugged Matthew and sent him on his way. "Good bye,see you next Sunday!" he called,waving as the King and Queen arrived from being away. They looked at Alexios and frowned. It was a rather delightful experience... although he didn't experience it all of the time...but that was exactly what made the experience special. When he bathed, he knew which cleansers he was allowed to use and which ones he was prohibited. When they ate, he used manners, which he had learned during his experiences there. When he was able to pick out books, he had surveyed all of them like he did every time, taking a bit to decide which books he wanted to read. He felt bad, because he couldn't give the prince anything like this, because he himself was merely a peasant. Although he was sad when he had to leave, he still smiled the same goofy smile that he usually did. There was always Sunday... As he got upon his horse, he began to ride back towards the post office, to go and bring the horse back to the stables there, and then walk home for the day and bury his face into one of the new books that he picked out. He couldn't cook,he couldn't clean! He could write stories,or make crafts,but that was it. When Sunday had rolled around again,the servants were on vacation this time,and the King and Queen were out. The Prince insisted on staying home,of course. As Matthew came in again,just as dirty as he was before,he smiled. "Hello again,Matthew. Come along,you know the procedure." said Alexios,inviting him into the home. Again,Matthew was bathed,fed and even clothed,and he soon got ready to leave. "I will see you again soon, Ma- Peasant!" The bath was refreshing, the food was delicious as always, and the new clothing felt... well it made him feel cleaner. But the best part of all of it was seeing the prince with a smile on his face, that was the biggest delight of the whole day. Though, when it was time to leave, he frowned the slightest bit as he heard the prince call him a "peasant". Sure, that was exactly what he was... but it still bothered him. Not looking back to face the prince, he got up upon his horse and rode away, back towards the post-office with a small sigh. But if he had said the other's name,his parents would become suspicious of him being around a peasant. They all went in to eat,and surprisingly,his parents were already suspicious. "I like to stay home because its less stress on me." he replied. If he had to lie to stay with Matthew,he would. (sorry about this being so short!) His mother was out with another man, having an affair, cheating on her husband,and although his father knew, he didn't do anything about it. His father had taken a night out to the tavern for a few drinks. And Matthew, well, of course Matthew was in his room with his nose stuck in a book, the lantern flickering and wavering the slightest bit in their house. They weren't rich or anything, so they had a lantern-lit house, with no electricity. Although it was rather chilly, he was bundled up in blankets as he read, his pillow filled with chicken feathers instead of the feathers of a goose or duck. He was given some money,and he was on his way with his horse and his carriage. He went out and ran his errands,making sure he had extra money as he bought expensive food and some flowers,with some extra money left for Matthew. He later arrived at Matthew's home,after asking the villagers for directions. He knocked on the door,surprised to see that Matthew's parents weren't anywhere to be seen. As he saw Matthew answer the door,he thrusted the gifts into Matthew's arms. "I sincerely apologize for yesterday,Matthew. My parents would have never let you visit again,if they knew I know your name." said Alexios sadly. "I'm sure you understand. Please,accept this as an apology. His freckled cheeks lit up with a violent pink color, putting the color of tulips to shame rather easily. Glancing up at the prince, he placed the items on the counter before he got back down on his knees to kneel to him, to show his respect, "Your majesty... may you please stay? As selfishly disgusting as it sounds..." He was almost expecting to get kicked by the man, or his face wiped into the dirt. In all fairness, he didn't have the wealth and social stand-point to even talk to the man, he didn't have the right to even really look at the prince... he was just a peasant. Alexios smiled bright,and told the horses to halt,as he walked into the shabby-looking home. "There's no need to call me majesty or bow to me,Matthew. You only need to do that in public,or in front of my parents. Just call me Prince,or Alex." said Alexios,gazing around the home with wonder. "Wow,your place is so small and adorable! Maybe I can convince my parents to let you become a servant at my home. I could sneak sweets to you whenever you wanted.." thought Alexios aloud. At least he'd have a bit of company to ease his loneliness. "Okay then...um... your m- I mean..Alex." said the other, fumbling the words on his tongue. The name just simply felt weird. Though, he offered the other a goofy smile, hoping that it would make up for his near inability to call him by his regular name. As the other probed his house.. he nearly sighed. "I doubt that your family would appreciate having a filthy peasant as a servant." With a quiet huff, he glanced around the living quarters. He had been awake for quite awhile, though he hadn't eaten anything. He usually only ate dinner, despite the fact he was hungry. His family really didn't make too much, and his father had a bad drinking habit. The whole family worked, and made money, but it wasn't like they had a lot left over after bills and taxes, and adding his father's drinking habit, they never had much food unless his father won money through gambling or one of them got a raise, which usually never happened. We will pay you a lot of money for your services,if you perhaps did want to become a servant." said Alexios,smiling. "My my,you seem hungry. Go ahead,take something and eat. Its all for you." said Alexios,laying the food on their table. "I guess I might make this a habit,too.. Visiting every week besides Sunday to bring you some food." said Alexios,smiling brightly. "I'll do anything to help out. Oh,I almost forgot!" Alexios took out the extra money he had,which was around two hundred dollars,and gave it to Matthew. "This might be of help to you,as well." Alexios said kindly. He saw the horses neigh,knowing that it was getting late. "Oh my,I've lost track of time! I need to get going." he said in a panic,hugging Matthew. "I'll be on my way." he said,turning to leave into the carriage and ride off to the mansion. Alexios felt a kind,fuzzy feeling in his heart for doing such a good deed. I just don't know if I could live with the fact that your family shames peasants like me." said Matthew with a small huff as he rubbed one of his eyes, a tired look in the amber orbs."Though, if you want me to, your majesty, I'd be willing to become a servant... and...not to ask too much... I'd be willing to be a personal servant if you need one." A dusty rose color peppered his freckled cheeks. Matthew glanced at the food on the counter, and he could feel his stomach twist in hungry knots as he glanced at it. "That is an awfully large quantity of food, thank you, your majesty..." He preferred to call him "majesty" instead of by his name... it seemed a bit more natural for him. When he was handed the money, he was even more surprised. He placed that on the counter as well. "Thank you for your generosity, sir... it means a lot to me, and I'm sure it'll mean a lot to my mother and father." When the other declared that he had to leave, he pouted the slightest bit, his cheeks partially puffing up in an upset manner. Though when the other hugged him, he nearly dropped right there. "They're raising the prices!" he complained,making an excuse for his shortage of money. "Oh,by the way,mother and father.." he said. "Yes,son?" they said in unison. "I want a personal servant,but I want to pick one." he said confidently. "From the peasants,son? But that is unclean. The peasants here are lucky enough to be here." said the Queen with a disgusted look. "But its what I want!" Prince Alexios exclaimed,and they had no choice but to agree. He carefully unwrapped some of the cheese, obviously a bit hesitant... but when he put a small piece in his mouth, he nearly moaned in pleasure... The taste was so welcoming, so nice, so rich, it was creamy.... yet it was so expensive. His family would only be able to buy this type of cheese if they put their entire income into this cheese. Sighing softly, he re-wrapped it, wanting to preserve it for as long as possible so their family would be well off. Sighing quietly, he made his way back to his bedroom to go and read another book. Knocking on the door,he wasn't surprised to see just Matthew in the home again. The Prince smiled bright and told Matthew the news in delight. "So it will be a week long 'decision' so that I don't seem suspicious." said Alex. "I apologize that I haven't brought any gifts for you today,I did not bring any of my money." he said. "We run out of food a lot,so I'm sure in a day or two I will bring you more food. If you work for me as my servant,I will allow you to cook food to bring home. Desserts and meals,anything you desire. You get one hundred dollars an hour,respectively." he said. Since they were the richest in the village,they sure could afford it. After their longer visit,he left Matthew with a hug,and he set off again for home,as he usually would,so excited for when he'll be able to see Matthew every day,and for Matthew to be happy. He woke up in the morning with a sore back and a stuffy nose, and continuously sneezed throughout the whole day. He felt tired... he was probably getting a common cold, although, there were problems with that, given that if they didn't have money for a doctor, a cold could be rather unpleasant. Though Matthew just tried to shrug it off, though about an hour after he woke up, he started to lightly cough. Setting his head down on the kitchen table, he nuzzled his head into his arms. "It is probably because it is so cold in this house!" said Alex,caring for Matthew by wrapping him in blankets,giving him tissues and even making him some delicious soup. Alex wore a protective mouth mask so that he wouldn't get sick. "My parents would kill me if I fell ill." he said worryingly, as he cared for Matthew. "I have left that pot of soup for you,and some medicine. Please take care." he said,wishing him farewell without a hug today,as he left on his way. Days had passed,and Matthew was cared for. finally time for the Prince to choose who he wanted. The villagers lined up while Alex pretended to have slight hesitation in his picking,before he picked Matthew. "I think he deserves a better job than the post office." said Alex with a chuckle. Soon,Matthew arrived home with them,bathed,fed and clothed into a uniform,as he stood next to Alex in Alex's business room as Alex arrived. He wasn't sure if he liked it or not. There were good perks to the job... but there was always a certain charm about the peasant life... it seemed to give life a whole new meaning... instead of being a pampered brat, you had to work for your keep. It felt rather nice. As the other told him all of the things that he had to do, he put his left hand over his heart and bowed to the other and said, "Yes, your highness." Matthew's amber eyes held a bit of a blank expression as he went off to go clean the hallways, a small sigh lingering on his lips as he gathered the soapy water in a bucket and the mop. Although he hated this type of job, it did make good money for his family. And if it helped to support his father and mother and made them happy, he'd do this miserable job. Taking the mop, he dunked it in the water with a huff, and began to run the cleaning utensil on the floor, making sure to clean to rather dirty tiles. This seemed like the easiest job to him... Alex smiled and hugged Matthew tight before lying in bed,his eyes fluttering shut as he began to fall into a deep slumber. Alex mumbled things in his sleep,and clutched onto his stuffed animal companion through the night,but Matthew only had to stay awake for an hour or two to watch Alex. By the morning,the servants were serving a big breakfast,which they could also sit down to. They all enjoyed the meal,yet the King and Queen did not speak to either Alex or Matthew. After the breakfast and everything was cleaned up,Alex guided Matthew back to his bedroom. "Matthew,can you help me dress?" he asked,blushing a bit. He cold tell that his parents were not to pleased with their son's decision. When they finally got into the room, when the freckled-man heard the other's request, he nodded with a small sigh, as he started to untie the ribbon on the other's night-shirt, and unbutton the pants afterwards. The man didn't know how to dress himself? That was rather pathetic. As he pulled down the other's pants and the the briefs beneath them, he also slipped off the nightshirt. He grabbed the dark-haired man an outfit, and began to dress him. These outfits really did take forever to dress him in. When he was putting the last piece on for the prince, he buckled the final buckle on his boots, and then folded the clothing and put them in the hamper to clean later. I'll probably go and write my novel." he replied,heading over to his work-desk and pulling out his inkwell and his pieces of paper. Alexios went to work as Matthew left to do chores. Alexios soon grew bored of writing after a page or two,and got up to go get someone else's book from the library. He sat down there in a comfy chair as he read intently. It wasn't a pleasant job, though it made enough money to keep his family happy. His freckled face held a frown instead of a smile, and a rather intent look as he tried to make sure that every speck of dirt was out of the wall. He knew that if he tried his hardest, he'd still be frowned upon, just be called a peasant and nothing better than that... but that was okay. He'd rather be a peasant with nothing than a rich snob.
