Kazuki only bought take out or ate instant noodles. He surely didn't understand how Yamato could make such food. Kazuki looked up to find rice on Yamato's face. He reached over and flicked off the food, but kept his finger on Yamato's lip for a few extra unnecessary seconds. He hated going to classes and when he did, he usually fell asleep. Kazuki had always been a straight A student in high school, but once he entered college and Mei passed away, his grades were dropping. Kazuki didn't want Yamato to worry nor did he want him to feel like it was his fault that Kazuki was failing. "Nah, Yamato, class is going fine," Kazuki lied. "I apologize, Yamato… You know I hate liars, but I lied myself… I'm a walking contradiction right now." Kazuki was embarrassed, ashamed, disappointed, and tired. He just wanted everything to go back to normal at the moment. Kazuki didn't want Yamato to view him as a liar or even a hypocrite. But… that was what Kazuki was at the moment. And he hated that. "Yamato, let's meet tomorrow, if you can make it. If not, then I an take a rain check." Kazuki was planning on going to Mei's grave to pay her respects and finally settle this problem with Yamato. He decided that he and Yamato were not going to have problems. No, they couldn't have problems, because they had always been childhood friends! And Kazuki was determined to understand what went through Yamato's mind a bit more. He refused to give up, and he knew that if he showed Yamato that he was going to give him a chance to reconcile, Yamato would happily take it. Kazuki prided himself in knowing his best friend. The walk home was long, but he didn't mind splashing through the puddles and whistling to himself. Talking to Yamato had always made him happy. Kazuki wondered why he had ever decided to ignore Yamato. Just that morning, Kazuki was ignoring Yamato and blowing him off. Why he had decided to talk to his childhood friend? He didn't even know himself. But Kazuki felt a pull towards his pitiful childhood friend. Seeing Yamato's teary eyes and hearing his pleading voice, Kazuki gave up whatever coldness and hatred he felt. How could such emotions flow away so easily? Wasn't hatred a strong emotion? So friendship could conquer hatred? Kadzuki scoffed to himself. He felt the need to stop walking. Looking up at the sky, he thought about Mei. Oh Mei… Was this all a big misunderstanding? As he walked in, Ichiro grinned. "Ah… Kazu-kun, welcome home!" Ichiro greeted happily. Kazuki nodded. "I'm home. How were classes today?" "They were actually boring today… since you didn't come." Kazuki sighed. "I'm not going to classes, Ichiro." Ichiro sighed back. "But Kazu-kun~!" Kazuki shook his head. "Ichiro, let's leave this situation alone. Please." Ichiro went back into the small kitchen and began stirring something. Kazuki walked closer. "What're you making?" he asked. Ichiro looked up from his bowl. "I'm making dinner, what else? Kazu-kun needs to eat!" "I already ate, you see." Ichiro stopped. "You did? Where?" Kazuki chuckled to himself. Ichiro reminded him of a doting wife. "At a friend's place," Kazuki answered. "A friend?" barked Ichiro. "What friend?!" Kazuki walked into his bedroom and called out, "Goodnight Ichiro." He could hear a small "Goodnight Kazu-chan." Kazuki happily ate it and looked at his clock. The little hand moved to the ten and the big hand to the twelve. It was ten o'clock. He got up and put on his clothes and was ready by eleven o'clock.
