[Little Dream]

Eren felt someone rip him away from his prey and he growled, whirling to hit whoever had interrupted him. Seeing that it was Levi made him freeze and his eyes widened. He stayed where Levi had set him, shock registering in his eyes as he slowly looked at the man he had been beating. The man's face was a bloody mess and he was groaning on the ground as a few of the other soldiers tried to get him to his feet. He remained in a daze, dimly hearing Levi ripping into one of the soldiers that had decided to be cocky and speak up to him.

 

Yeah, he had gotten into fights before but never to the point where he had almost beat them to death. His mind flashed back to that night he had saved Mikasa and his hands clenched. He felt a tug on his sleeve and looked up to see Levi standing over him. He just stared at him, not really comprehending his words at first. Finally Mikasa hauled him to his feet and pushed him towards the door. Eren looked down at himself, noting that he was covered in the mans blood. Both of his hands throbbed, split at the knuckles from hitting the guy so hard and one of them felt fractured. It was probably from when one of his punches had missed and he had slammed it into the hard floor instead.

Levi huffed softly as he glanced at Mikasa. Him and her weren't all that fond of each other... though he noticed that after the events of yesterday, she didn't glare at him the same way anymore... it was probably because he saved her and Eren yesterday.

 

Tugging Eren outside with him, closing the door to the cafeteria behind them, he murmured quietly, "Why did you do that Eren? We're supposed to keep you protected and make everyone trust you... beating the shit out of someone isn't the right way to make friends." Levi blinked a few times as he grabbed the other's hand and stared at them, seeing them bleed,and how they were split at the knuckle, "What got you this aggravated?" Levi still looked like a mess, he was obviously trying to collect himself, for the sake of everyone else around, so he could be a proper corporal, but the sadness in his eyes was still there.

Eren followed Levi and Mikasa outside the cafeteria. He allowed Levi to examine his knuckles, his hand limp in the other's grasp. His head was bowed, eyes hidden by his bangs as tears made their way down his cheeks. "T-They...They were talking shit about y-you and P-Petra and the others....They w-were basically saying t-they got what they deserved!" Eren was shaking from anger again, the hand that Levi wasn't holding clenching into a tight fist. "I couldn't just s-sit there and let them s-say stuff like that!" He gritted his teeth as a fresh wave of anger swept through him and he whirled, intent on returning to that room and making them pay for what they said.

Levi glanced up at Eren and sighed, "What do those shit-for-brains know anyways? All they know is how to piss ale and bite the hand that feeds them." His voice seemed dry. Carefully, he lifted a pale hand to Eren's tan face, and wiped the tears away...rather softly, actually, though still not smiling at the young boy. Though, when he whirled around, as if he were going to go back into the building, Levi quickly wrapped his arms around his waist, tightly holding him against his body, "Stop it Eren, those sons of bitches aren't worth your time."

Eren felt Levi's arms wrap around him and he struggled slightly before his shoulders slumped. More tears ran down his face as sobs shook his shoulders. His knees gave out and he slumped to the floor as the grief and guilt he had pushed aside with anger crashed over him. Mikasa knelt in front of him, placing a hand on his shoulder. "Eren you have to stop beating yourself up about this. Their death was not your fault." Eren shook his head. "Yes it was! I could have saved them and I didn't...." He clenched his fists. "But...I will avenge them. You can count on it." He said. "How? We don't know anything about the female Titan." Mikasa replied. "I do. She's a Titan-shifter like me." Shock filled Mikasa's eyes. "Are you sure?" Eren nodded. "When she was chasing us, every time someone attacked she protected the back of her neck. No other Titan has done that. And, she seemed to be focused solely on me." Eren paused as anger swept over him again. "When I was fighting her, she fought differently than other Titans. She...She fought like someone trained in hand-to-hand combat. And...Her fighting stance....I recognized it...It's the same fighting stance Annie uses..."

Levi glanced down at the younger male and sighed, sitting down behind him, bringing his short legs up to his chest and curled up into a ball. He hated watching or hearing Eren cry... it made him want to hold the boy, or at least find a way to comfort him... though he knew he couldn't, Eren would probably retaliate if he even tried. So instead, the commander zoned out. The corporal was off in his own little world, really, trying to think of some happy times, and maybe some sad times too... though when Eren started to talk about the titan, he snapped out of his dreamy trance, and listened to the other speak, slightly surprised. Since when did Eren remember stuff like this? "So you're saying that the female titan is actually a titan-shifter? And who's Annie?" He was curious really. Given that the girl had joined the Military Police, he knew nothing about her and her position.
