Please Register/ Sign In, in order to see the links. *rubs hands together nervously* Well… this is my first time in this thread, but a few things need to be said… First off: Xiulin's biggest condition for the role-play was for there to be no drama. And now she's saying no conflict. I took the "no drama" to mean no drama or fighting between typists, rather than characters. Before I go further, I want to catch Zeta and Kitven up with why this discussion is happening: I was talking with Zeta, and mentioned how Jinn was going to have the princes' dress up and dance. He said that he wasn't interested in something like that. Today, while talking with Xiulin, I mentioned this. She then became upset with this, and was convinced that Zeta was going cause serious problems by having Blue Prince Zeta disagreeing. Now that everyone is (hopefully) caught up: Nothing went wrong after my post. Jinn suggested dressing up in costumes and dancing- Katsuo interpreted this as burlesque. However the other two feel or reply is up to them. I, the typist, have no issue with it, but Katsuo as a character is a modest guy with a lot of insecurities about performing; so he reacted a certain way. Harsh words said by a character is literally words said by a character. If the Blue Prince calls Jinn a rude name, that doesn't mean Zeta called Xiu a rude name. This is just something that happens between characters sometimes- there is nothing wrong with it. Characters are going to be characters. In fiction, drama and conflict is literally necessary for a story. "Drama" as a genre is characterized by having a story moved by the emotional development of the characters. By definition, Royal Pleasures is very close to a drama in premise and in practice. The princes all have developed histories and complex personalities. A lot of the conflict comes from their personal struggles and ordeals. Conflict is necessary for any story to be a story. Without it you simply have events. There already is conflict in Royal Pleasures. Katsuo's struggles are introduced early- his insecurities with his job performance, his anxiousness about losing his job, his feelings for Zeta, all of this is conflict. Zeta introduces conflict early, as well- his feelings for Katsuo, his dependence on the club for familial support, his family problems, all of this is conflict. Jinn's management of the business? Conflict. Rei's shyness and lack of independence? Conflict. To say you don't want conflict or drama arising between typists, that's all well and good- I agree (though I'd say this very thread has caused some conflict and drama with all four of us). But to say that you don't want conflict or drama in the context of the role-play is saying that you don't want us to have a story. So I'm not entirely sure what you expect from us if you don't want our characters to…. be characters? This was super long, and I'm sorry. But I think I've made my point here. We must take in mind that the point of the role play was to expose our theme in a day to day basis of the character's lives in work and their relationships as they grow with the other hosts. I feel the RP personally needs some spice. The idea that Jinn had is good, I only mentioned to Noise I disagreed a bit was because I wouldn't want the RY RP to become so embellished or enveloped in a show thing. We want to concentrate on the theme in the prospective of a slice of life. I may be wrong on this but Xiu you must also be open on topics, by all means I find you are an outstanding role player and I by here say I am fine with your idea and believe we should proceed. I'd like to expose a type of note system for all of us. Either by PM or in a spoiler for the next person replying. This works by stating a common idea, or something we'd like to notify the next reply to keep as a theme. I believe that since the day (day one at RY) will be over we should add the spice then and Xiu let us know what you want. I propose that throughout the progress of the thread we need to start introducing our character's issues. Maybe have Jinn's part first where he gives opening to a remberance of his child hood, or Rei, or Kat. - Maybe a pattern, such as job and then evening, night when we post about what we do individually in that night. Our morning. afternoon when we head to work and their we connect our characters again. Or maybe a phone call. We need to add more interactions. I feel if we don't the RP will fall to boredom. Kitven[/MENTION] I need from you to be active, if you compromised to this RP you need to be responsible for your part of the RP. We need to get this done, please do your best I love this very much! my propositions: - we need more spice, so throw in idea! - get more into your charcters but don't take them out into chat or in general relations. - experiment, and grow. - Jinn, Kat, Rei, Zeta start to know each other. I should give you all credit for the history building and personality trait works. Noise, thanks for always elaborating with me. It helps, maybe I'll become a better writer. I'll be using this as a reference. Mostly Noise's post, the body of explaining the characters. Sorry for not being considerate. Please Register/ Sign In, in order to see the links. I like a lot of Zeta's ideas. I like the idea of putting notes in spoilers so it's in an easily accessible place for everyone. Personal chat gets complicated and inboxes have a limit, so I think spoilers is the most reliable and easiest way to do it. I also like having a schedule of when things are happening, even if it's a bit formulaic, I like the idea of consistently knowing when and what's going on. I would also like to see more of everyone's characters, be it personal issues or childhood events. If done conservatively, it could add a very nice flavor to the characters and their interactions. We could have some side characters have a role, as well. I started some stuff between Katsuo and Riko, and I plan to feature her a bit more in the future. Mary could also be very interesting. I tried to be really subtle, but I was trying to foreshadow a potential story point for later with her. I think regular clients would be a good way to add some spice and conflict beyond the central cast or else we might end up stretching for story progression. But I think the biggest focus for the story and characters to grow would be their relationships to each other, so that should definitely be the forefront of our efforts- so I also agree that we should have our characters spend time together and get to know each other. Let us say that after the meeting with Jinn we had planned to stay me and Katsuo to clean. In that time we will post the evnts that will undergo throughout that scene. (My first time, the drunk etc) Before the last post for Jinn He would leave in the spoiler the possible options, or guidelines, amybe a reference something for our post. Note: the spoilers are not a regular thing they are only for necessary reminders, things that one of the meber wishes that happens in the thread. However, I think that for now there is no need for spoilers we are fine for now we just need to keep with the thread and finish our first day as hosts. I guess we have two options that I can think of for how to preserve the posting order… 1. Xiu and Kit will describe what Jinn and Rei are doing, maybe delve into personal problems or their past, that sort of thing in-between what Zeta and Katsuo are doing… Or 2. Me and Zeta will collaborate together about what to do, and make two posts that contain the whole thing. Such as why they're staying, cleaning, how they get involved in drinking, the game, leading up to the drunkness- will be in Katsuo's point of view - then Rei's post- then the second half of what all happens is in Zeta's point of view.
