[Remalade]

"Uh yeah, I won't miss it. So....bye?" Minato said uncertainly as he gathered his books. For some reason, he felt awkward just leaving him like this, but he didn't know what to say. Should he thank him for his help? Just the thought of having to be nice to him again didn't settle well with him. Before he could stop himself, he found himself speaking again. "Hey Asuki....I don't know if you have plans after this are anything but um...you want to get something to eat? You know, since you decided to help me and whatever...." he muttered.

Asuki was quite surprised when the other invited him to eat with him. Minato..the Minato who despised him and himself despising the other..was inviting him to eat? The thought made him grow curious at the others intentions...and he was hungry. "Uh...sure? Where are we eating..?" He asked, still a bit dumbfounded he was being treated so nicely.

[Remalade]

Minato noticed his surprise and hurried to fix his error. "Not to be nice or anything, why would I do that? I just didn't want you to starve since you've been sitting here all day. And it's not like you have anything else to do but study anyways." he shrugged. "There's this place with really good milkshakes a few blocks away that we can go to." he added. Minato didn't want to give the impression that being nice to Asuki would be a usual thing. After all, he hated him. Right?

Thank god, at least it would feel less awkward now..and it might be true he had nothing to do but study..what id he have to look forward to at home? He wouldnt talk about that and mention it so he didnt reply to that comment. "I could go for a milkshake" he said with a shrug, all of his stuff packed up and ready to do.

[Remalade]

"Alright, let's get out of here." Minato grumbled, leading him out of the library. He was glad when they were out of the stuffy building and into the fresh hair. "I hope you don't faint, I know that this is probably the longest that you've ever been out in direct sunlight." he smirked. "It's not too far from here, hopefully you won't pass out."

"I have only been out here a few seconds, a few seconds and minutes in the sun has never killed anyone' Asuki rolled his eyes at the others teasing. "Hope they got chocolate..' He said, trying to go off topic. He tried to focus on the milkshakes to keep himself from snapping in the middle of the street at the other.

Minato chuckled under his breath at the response but didn't say anything more about it. At the mention of the flavors, he had to think. "Chocolate? I think so. Sometimes they have these other weird flavors, so I'm not sure. Is chocolate your favorite?" he asked curiously, their rivalry forgotten for a second. He was so used to arguing with him that he didn't know a thing about him that wasn't related to school.

"I love chocolate..the creamy taste that just melts in your mouth" Asuki smiled, also having forgotten for a moment he was supposed to hate the other. He doesn't remember the last time he even had chocolate or been able to afford it so he was very happy to be able to.

The other boy's rather excited description brought a slight smile to Minato's face. He slowly realized what he was doing and looked away pointedly. "I think vanilla is better. Have you ever dipped french fries in a vanilla shake? It's delicious." he added with a cheeky grin. When they arrived at the small diner, Minato waited for him to decide what he wanted, twiddling with the zipper on his jacket absentmindedly.

"It's seem odd..but delicious~!" Asuki said happily before he realized he was acting like a little kid over something so simple. He coughed and calmed down as they walked into the diner, going right for the milkshake section. Everything..looked so good..Asuki thought as he wanted to drool over it. He placed his order and waited for the other to finish

Minato noticed his change in attitude but decided not to say anything, lest he start an argument in the middle of the diner. He ordered a vanilla milkshake for himself and a small plate of fries for them to share, then nodded towards a nearby booth. The athlete skillfully balanced the food on the tray and carried it over, sliding in across from Asuki.

Asuki forgot to not be happy when the food came, smiling big at seeing the fries and his milkshake. He looked at both of them, remembering the other say to dip it in right? He would trust the others opinion for right now as he took a fry and dipped t carefully into the milkshake. Asuki raised it to his mouth and bit into it, loving the taste. "That's delicious.." He said with big eyes.

[Remalade]

Minato was surprised by his happy expression and couldn't help watching him intently. He had only ever seen him frowning and insulting him, but right now he seemed so pleasant. It confused him, but the blonde also couldn't help but smile as well. He looked away when Asuki began speaking again, glancing down at his milkshake instead. "Told you it was good." he teased.

"I guess you were right for once.." Asuki laughed with a smile. He kept dipping fries into the milkshake with a content smile. He didn't care at the moment he was with Minato, he was just too happy enjoying his food. "Thanks..for inviting me out..I guess.." He said awkwardly

[Remalade]

"No problem. I'm not a jerk all of the time, you know." Minato laughed lightly, somewhat enjoying the pleasant moment between them. "So tell me honestly, do you think I'll be able to pass the test at the end of the week?" he asked curiously.

"With enough studying and actually practicing at home you will be able to at least get a passing grade.." Asuki said with a smile. "I guess you are capable of that much.." Asuki said quietly with a smaller smile. It really was weird being friendly and nice..but yet doing so without yelling was a nice experience

[Remalade]

"Don't underestimate me! By next week, I might even have an A in the class." Minato responded with a cocky grin. He said nothing more on the subject, returning his attention to his food. When he was done, he looked back over at Asuki in slight concern. "It's getting kinda late, are you going to be okay walking home? You don't look that strong, someone might try to rob you or something."

"I'm not that weak.." Asuki mumbled as he just swallowed the last remnants of his milkshake. But the other sounded concern at the same time..no..it was just teasing. And what if the other saw his family drinking outside? If they said something to him, it would just give Minato more material to bug him over.

[Remalade]

"But still.....I'll at least walk with you halfway there. Let's go." Minato replied with a shrug. He gathered their trash and threw it away, then waited for Asuki to meet him at the door. He didn't really see anything wrong with at least walking half of the way with him. Besides, he wasn't doing it because they were anything close to friends. He just didn't want it on his conscience if anything happened to him. At least, that was what he told himself.

"If you want.." Asuki said quietly as he went to meet the other at the door. Now to make the long trek home..hooray. To a home that didnt even feel like a home..but no one could know this. He started walking with the other toward the direction of his house. "Thanks again..Study at home and stuff' Asuki said awkwardly, not sure what to say.

[Remalade]

"I got it. This is me you're talking to after all." Minato chuckled. "You know, you're not half bad for a nerd. Not that we're best friends now or anything. I was just saying." he added quickly, not wanting the other to think that he was losing his edge.

"And I guess you can be somewhat smart when you try..Don't think I am being nice or anything" Asuki said with a shrug with a small smile. A few more days until the test and he could b done with all this..even if this one day was ok it was only one day. "So anyway.." He said, seeing his house approaching closer in the distance.

[Remalade]

"Ah, are we getting close? I should probably get home then. See you tomorrow, I guess." Minato muttered, giving a half-hearted wave over his shoulder as he walked away. Even though he'd been dreading working together, he couldn't deny that it hadn't been as bad as he had expected. He'd thought that Asuki would be flinging books at him by the end of the lesson, but he had been surprisingly calm. He wasn't sure if that was a good thing or a bad thing.

"Yeah, see you tomorrow or whatever.." Asuki waved at the other as he walked the rest of the way home. Of course his parents were drinking again..He thought to himself as he walked inside. They were shouting all sorts of profanities at him as he tried to quickly walk by them and to his room, locking the door. He tried to drown out the shouts with his ipod, playing soothing music as he studied.

Minato arrived home a while later, not surprised when he was greeted by an empty house. Of course his parents weren't home. They had probably both stayed at work or had gone on one of their little "private vacations", leaving the teen to fend for himself. He went into the kitchen and saw a note stuck to the fridge.

 

"We'll be away for a few days, but we'll be back to come to your game on Saturday."

 

Minato rolled his eyes at the note. Most of the time, the only thing his parents seemed to care about was him playing sports, but they didn't even care enough to actually show up to his games. The blonde sighed softly and went to his room to get some rest.
