Asuki heard banging at his door but tried to ignore it, knowing it would do him no good to answer. But when the banging continued, he had to open the door. It was father..no...he couldn't call this man his father..he had no father..never did and never will.

'You got home late today..School ended awhile ago!" The father said to which Asuki did not reply. "Where the fuck were you?!" The father shouted again and slapped him across the face. "I was hanging out with a friend.." He said quietly, holding his cheek. 'Friend? Fucking lies..What do I say about lying to me boy? And you come home right after school, no exceptions!" He said, punching Asuki in the face, landing on his eye. "You tell 'im babe!" The mother shouted from a nearby room.

"Filth.." The father said when he was finally done, leaving Asuki to lay on his bed in a bit of a sorry state, with bruises on his arms and a black eye. He quietly went to his personal bathroom, putting bandages on his eye. He never went for the eyes since he was a kid..Asuki thought.

After a quick shower, Minato tried to rest for his practices tomorrow, but he just couldn't fall asleep. For some odd reason, he couldn't help thinking about Asuki. He had seen a side of the other boy today that he didn't even know existed. Maybe he wasn't such a stuck up little nerd all the time. Just having that thought made Minato frown. Why would he think that like they were friends? It was weird. The blonde sighed when his thoughts stopped him from sleeping and got out of bed. At least he could get some extra studying in. He hated to do it, but he knew it wasn't just for him, it was for his team.

Asuki went back to bed, thinking that Minato was once the high point of his day. It felt weird to think of it like that, but he never felt so happy around someone elses company in awhile...especially Minatos. Asuki kept himself occupied while trying to keep his thoughts off the other by browsing through his math book. He wondered if the other would pass..and it only made him think of the other more.

After cramming more of the equations into his head, Minato finally felt tired enough to call asleep. He climbed back into bed and quickly passed out. He woke up to his alarm the next morning, groaning at being roused from his somewhat peaceful sleep. The blonde quickly showered and got dressed in his uniform. He spent most of his time making himself something to eat. He had taught himself to cook a few years ago, and it was the only thing he enjoyed that didn't have anything to do with sports. Not that he would tell anyone, of course. Minato finished cooking and eating then hurried to jog to school, not wanting to be late.

(Sorry this reply was long overdue xp)

Asuki woke up the next morning, eager as usual to get out of this house and into school where he felt happiest..at times. But any place was better than here. He put a small patch over his eye so he wouldnt have to use obvious cover up or use a too big patch to make it more obvious. He got dressed and left home without eating, not wanting to have to deal with his family right now.

(no problem ^^)

Minato had just arrived on the school grounds when he spotted a familiar head of hair in the crowd at the school gate. A grin pulled at his lips as he eased up to him. "Good morning, nerd." he teased, adjusting his backpack on his shoulder as he glanced down at him. Minato immediately noticed the eyepatch and frowned. "Oh shit, did you really get robbed, Asuki? I knew I should have just walked you all the way home! They punched you in the eye, too? What did they take? Are you alright?" he asked, bombarding him with questions and sounding much more concerned than he realized.

"I'm fine Minato.." Asuki said quietly, surprised the other seemed so concerned about him when he wouldnt give a shit. And he didnt gt robbed but he couldn't tell the other that about what really happened with his adoptive family. He would never hear the end of this. "It's just a little black eye" Asuki said while looking up at him. He had to go on acting like he normally did..

Minato noticed that it had sounded like he'd actually cared, and he pointedly looked away. Why was he getting so worked up? Asuki was acting like it was no big deal, so he should probably just do the same, right? The blonde just couldn't help feeling that it was bigger than the other boy was saying. Minato just shrugged and nodded to his words anyways. "I ended up studying at home last night, so don't be surprised if I seem like a total genius when you tutor me today." he laughed with a proud smile.

"You..studying at home?" Minatio raised his eyebrows at the notion of him studying of his own accord at him. "Well then..good..Lets see later if your studying paid off then" He nodded, continuing to walk into the school. It piqued his curiosity if the other might have actually studied..he only did it because his football game was on the line in a few days.

Minato gave him a challenging grin before going off to his morning basketball practice. As he entered the locker room and got dressed, he couldn't help thinking about Asuki. Yesterday he had shown that he wasn't that much of a jerk, and it had left him feeling a bit confused. He was supposed to hate the other boy, but he'd just had a pleasant conversation with him as if they were friends. It didn't make any sense. The blonde forced himself to ignore the thoughts as he headed into the gym to do some workouts.

Asuki secluded himself into a quiet corner of the library, going over the material he would need to know for the day. The small patch wasn't too much of an inconvenience as he went over the material until the bell ran for his classes. He cleaned up all of his books and went toward his first morning class. He was happy no one asked question as he could go about his day and try not to think of a concerned Minato.

Minato finished up his basketball warmups as the first period bell rang. He hurried to shower and change, arriving late to his class as usual. For the rest of the day, he found himself glancing at the notes they'd worked on. Since he'd made a point about having studied last night, he had the urge to prove to Asuki that he knew what he was doing. The shorter male already treated him like he was an idiot. He just wanted to show him that he could do something that didn't involve a ball. He tried not to think about the fact that such a feeling was so strong. At the end of the day, he skipped practice and headed straight to the library to find the other.

Asuki ended up back in the library again and was waiting for the others practice to be over so he can get to more tutoring. He was surprised when Minato showed up early..Doesn't he have practice on these days? And why should he know the others schedule so well to be surprised at him coming? "You are here early today.." He said, scratching just under his patch.

Minato shrugged at his words as he sat down next to him. "Yeah I usually have practice today but I figured since I already know what I'm doing on the court, I might as well spend a little more time on this." he responded. The blonde frowned when he noticed Asuki scratching near the eyepatch. "You want me to help patch up your eye better? The coach always keeps icepacks and bandages on hand, I could just run and get some...." he muttered.

Asuk couldnt hide his look of shock at the other wanting to get him an ice pack for his eye. He didnt know how to respond, sitting there quietly for a moment in his surprise. "Sure, if you want..Just don't slack off coming back..' Asuki finally spoke up, forming the words he needed to. "Then we can see how much you studied.." He added, figuring him going off to do this was fine since he was early anyway.

"Me? Slack off? I would never do such a thing." Minato said sarcastically with a light laugh. He pushed himself up from the table and left the library, jogging all the way to the athletic office on the other side of the school. He grabbed an icepack, some disinfectant wipes, and some fresh bandage. He hurried to carry all of it back to the library, returning to his seat. The athlete pulled his chair over to Asuki and leaned in closer so he would have better access. He slowly peeled off the old bandage and frowned slightly at the dark bruise on Asuki's eye. He couldn't help the feeling of anger welling up in his chest at seeing it. Who had done this? Was stealing from the small male really that important that they had to do this to him? He reminded himself not to be so concerned as he gently dabbed at Asuki's eye with the disinfectant wipes.

Asuki was just expecting a simple ice pack so it was even more of a shock that he came back with so much stuff. How else would the other surprise him today? He twitched a bit when the bandage was removed but didn't see the frown the other had made at that precise moment. Asuki closed his eye in anticipation of a rough or hurting touch but found the other to be surprisingly gentle. He opened his other eye slowly as he let Minato continue to dab his eye.

"The only reason I know what I'm doing right now is because I used to hurt myself almost everyday when I first started playing sports. I would sprain my ankle, bruise my wrists, scrape my knees, all that. It got so bad that the coaches had to buy a set of bandages that was just for me." Minato joked, a small smile on his lips as he finished with the wipes. He carefully placed a new bandage over his eye. "My coach used to say that I only got hurt so much because I was trying to hard to get better. I guess it paid off, right?" he said softly, almost as if he was saying it more to himself than Asuki. He realized that he'd just shared something rather personal with someone he was supposed to hate, and he fell silent. When the bandaging was done, he put the icepack against his eye and grabbed Asuki's hand, holding it onto the icepack. "You don't have to hold it the whole time, but it'll heal better if you keep pressing it on there." he added. Minato pushed the supplies aside to take back later and grabbed his notebook from his bag.

Did he doze off right now? He was speaking so calmly..and bringing Minato brought his own hand up to his eye and was holding it. 'Thanks..I guess.." Asuki said quietly, forgetting for a moment he had let go of his hand. "Now..um, lets see if you have made any progress..' He said, writing down a few problems he knew and one with one small error to see if he would be able to pick up on it. It may have seemed like a normal problem but if he even realized this, he would be surprised and it showed proof of studying.

Minato nodded and took the paper, glancing over the problems before starting. The first two equations confused him at first, but after lots of erasing and starting over, he was able to come up with the right answer. The last problem was the one that was giving him the most trouble. He had used the right steps to solve it, he was sure of it, but he kept getting an answer that didn't make any sense. His eyebrows scrunched in confusion as he glanced over at Asuki. "Hey.....is this the right equation that you gave me? I keep redoing it, but it's just not working...." he muttered.

Asuki was surprised, he followed all of the steps and knew that the answer wasnt right and didn't make sense. 'So you did study at home..' he said, unable to help a small smile. "I wrote the question wrong on purpose..You are getting better. Keep this up and you might even get above an 85 on this" Asuki said, unable to help but compliment his good work. "I suppose it was in bad taste to not believe you studied some at home.." He shrugged.

Minato found himself returning Asuki's smile as he shook his head at him. "Told you that I studied! I just might get an A on this if I keep trying." he laughed. As the blonde went back to fix the problem, he couldn't help thinking that maybe Asuki wasn't as bad as he seemed. Maybe there was even the slimmest chance that they could actually be friends after this. Maybe.

Minato wasn't that bad..sort of..when he actually tried and applied himself. Asuki watched him fix the problem and wondered if he could help the other enough to the point where he can get an 'A'. "You know what..let's try for it. If you get 100 on the geometry test, I will do one thing you ask of me now" He said, figuring the odds were not in his favor to get 100 with this and maybe one more day of tutoring before the test.

Minato perked up at the proposition and tried to think of a good idea. Asuki, the boy who usually hated his guts and wouldnt give him so much as a compliment, was now offering him whatever he wanted. What should he ask for? A grin pulled at his lips as he thought of the perfect idea. "If I get a perfect score on the test....you have to go to all of my basketball games for the rest of the season. I've always wanted my own personal cheerleader in the bleachers." he chuckled.

He had to go..watch basketball? And of all sports events he had to go to, he had to go to his?! But..the odds of Minato getting a 100 on that test..he wouldnt be able to...right? "Fine..If you get a 100 on the test..I'll..I'll go to all your games as you say" Asuki said, adjusting his glasses back onto his face. "Now, the test is in two days so do these problems here.." He said, giving him more drill work than teaching, which was on day one, unless he needed help.
