Cakeassassin
The information surprised him. It obviously wasn't going to be easy, but fairy tears? He never heard of that before and he wasn't so sure if he wanted to hear the rest. Nothing comes easy though and it would be worth it. He just had to keep reminding himself that. "So, um, where- How difficult is my curse?" Asking this almost hesitantly he studied the picture of the man and the storm cloud, guessing that the man was about to be struck by lightning. That sacrifice bit must have been what Noah meant when he said it was hard to make it after the curse. He ruffled the back of his hair as he thought these things and put his hand partially over his mouth. What was it going to say? Kill a three headed dragon or resurrect a fallen king? KuroBear
"L-Let's find out..." Noah took one last look at this page before turning it over. A picture of a giant snake constricting a man, an upset ocean with feierce waves, a house on fire, and a music box that seemed to have killed people with it's song... Those were some of the pictures on the first couple of pages. There was one left, and Noah was getting worried that Leroy's curse wasn't inside. Little behold, the image of an ugly, scaly and fleshy wolf eating something bloody on the left hand side, on the right side was the title, which the elf read, "Shifters Spell." Taking a quickl look at the introduction, Noah grabbed the man's sleeve as if needing to hang on to what was next, "So not only were you unlucky to have gotten cursed, but this as well? You were lucky enough the witch decided to tell you your posion or else you would have suddenly turned into a savage beast out of the blue one day. All I can say as the author is... Good luck." The elf looked up at Leroy with worry, "This seems like it's your curse..." - - - Updated - - - "L-Let's find out..." Noah took one last look at this page before turning it over. Cakeassassin
His face tensed and he placed one of his hands on his stomach and mumbled that he was feeling sick. For some reason he immediately assumed that the blood was from a person since he had urges to kill as an added effect and it had always targeted others. Maybe the curse could be cancelled in other ways if need come to so so... He shook his head. With trouble obviously stuck onto his face he forced a smile at Noah. "It seems to be..." He softly sighed. "What does it say for me to do?" The author's words were so discouraging that the suspense of whatever was on the following page made it feel like it was strangling his heart since his chest felt so tight and the anxiety made him feel nauseated. Whoever wrote the book certainly had a way of raising the reader's spirit... Maybe it was better that way though since it didn't get your hopes too high. KuroBear
The elf's eyes lowered and found the book once more, feeling as if hope was draining away despite the find of this book, "It says... Only four things..." All the others had a list of more than five, whether the reversal called for something difficult or not, but such a short requirement probably meant it was all the harder. Running his finger down more hope-tearing comments from the mysterious author before getting to the requirements. The first one made Noah's heart feel squeezed inside his chest, "A dragon egg." He got cold finger tips from the second, "Blood of the innocent- at least a jar full of it." And finally, he felt dread at the third, "A vile of a serpent's venom... the last thing is a phoenix feather... It says that it all needs to be boiled together, then drunk by the one cursed." Cakeassassin
He took in and let out a long but controlled sigh. A jar of "innocent" blood was something he really hoping not to need but he couldn't change the rules. Aside from that, he needed a dragon egg and a phoenix feather? How would that be possible by himself? The venom seemed about reasonable but that obviously didn't balance the other side... Feeling the tiniest but of hope slip away from his fingers he couldn't even hold his smile, forced or not. Slowly furrowing his brow his heart rate sped slightly and he pushed out his words. "Thank you for your help, Noah. It was nice to meet you." He was about to leave but interrupted himself and indirectly faced the elf. "You wouldn't happen to know how or where one would get some of those? If you don't it's fine..." He almost smiled but decided not to force himself to. Both of them knew that he didn't exactly have much to smile at.
KuroBear
Closing the book and putting back in the chest, the elf frowned, not even pretending to smile. He was upset that Scratch had been so rude to Leroy, but now after 'helping' the man, a pit formed in his gut that just sucked everything in. This was like striking down a person who was already at their knees. It was horrible. Noah met the man's gaze and nodded, "Dragons... they like to go in the mountains and deep in swamps. Phoenix are..." He couldn't take this anymore. Noah put all the other books back with a determined look and glanced at the frame of his deceased grandfather, knowing this was what he would have done himself, "I'm going with you," he declared. Cakeassassin
His eyes widened and went back to normal, a troubled look glazed him. Noah had already been such a help and they only just met each other. How could he just let him follow in a path that was obviously treacherous? If anything happened to him he would... Shaking away the racing thoughts he tilted his head and weakly chuckled. "I... I couldn't let you do that. What if you got hurt our worse? Somebody would surely miss you..." As he said this he thought of how many things could happen in such events. Not only could one of them be hurt but the chance of... Something worse could very well ensue. He almost wanted to let him come. Misery enjoys company but that was the exact reason he couldn't let him come, misery, and he wasn't going to be selfish and put his life on the line as well. Although there was a gut feeling that it wouldn't stop him.
KuroBear
"I don't care! It's the right thing to do," the elf shuts the chest and places the framed photo on top, "I know a lot about dragons and things that'll get you that cure. I can't just let you walk out of here on this quest alone, Leroy!" Noah saw the uncertainty in the man's expression, and even something else, but in the end, Leroy was in dire need of help. It would be impossible to get a dragon egg all alone. Impossible to catch a phoenix and take it's feather. It was impossible to do it alone. "If you tell me no, I'm just going to follow along. I'll close the shop for a while, I'll have my cat make sure it's safe... as for me... Someone I used to know would tell me to do the same. So, please. Let me help you." Cakeassassin
His expression went neutral and he glanced down at the frame. "All right... If it's in the honour of somebody then I'll understand." It was hard for him to accept it but he knew that it wasn't his choice so resistance wasn't optimal. He knew that it wouldn't be possible by himself in the first place. The first objective would get him killed, whichever it was. But how would a cat have the ability to protect a shop by itself? Shaking his head he brushed away the thoughts. Those questions obviously wouldn't accomplish anything besides quenching his curiosity. "So which one is closest to us? There doesn't seem to be one that's better, so to speak, than the other so..." He trailed off and tilted his head to Noah. Not having a clue about a lot, or maybe even most things, he would probably have to rely on his information on many occasions, wether it felt right to or not. KuroBear
"Let me think... Egg. Feather. Venom. Blood..." Noah rubbed his forehead and looked at the cases of books behind them. He didn't know if the books he read about this were in there, but for some reason, looking at a book could help remember what was inside one. There was one that told about dragons that were serpents. Those lived in swamps and if they went there, they'd be able to possibly get an egg and venom. Wait. That was a really stupid idea. How could an elf and a cursed man even handle a venomous dragon, let alone steal it's egg and vile liquid? He turned back to Leroy and sighed, "We should try and get the egg last... It's going be winter soon, and it's already getting a bit colder. I think it's wise if we search for a phoenix before it gets too cold and they're all gone." Finally smiling, Noah grinned, "They live close by fairy woodlands! If anything, maybe there'll be a fairy around that we can ask help from." Cakeassassin
It was true that winter would be soon. You could already feel the nip in the air today when Leroy had went through the nearby forest. Apparently the fairy woodlands would be nearby. At least that would be what he hoped for. But when would dragons lay their eggs? Usually animals would do that in the spring but perhaps dragons would be an exception. They weren't exactly average animals in the first place. He got up and started going out of the attic. It was starting to feel claustrophobic since their natural heat was warming the room. He slowly smiled back. "So where is this woodlands? I would guess somewhere south since you said it was near Phoenix territory." He looked around the room to be sure wether or not he had a cat besides the yellow one. Because he thought a cat wouldn't be able to watch over a shop but she might make the exception. Even if she apparently almost fainted when he burst into the store earlier. KuroBear
"Yes. Hopefully there are fairies there willing to help..." Noah rubbed his head and looked around for the cat as well, calling out to her to share his news, "Scratch! I... I'm leaving, okay?" He stepped up to his desk and looked under it to try and find her. But the feline made herself know through another means. The door to which she was tossed into opened up with a busty woman with long hair appeared in the doorway. Her clothes were tight and her lips were a rosy red, those eyes of her were just like those of a car, "Whatdya mean leaving? You can't just leave!" Eyeing the feline, Noah rubbed his forehead and sighed, "You'll be fine as long as you don't scare away customers with your terrible personality and unprofessional looks!" The elf growled, referring to Scratch's human bombshells. "Tsk." She scoffed and tossed a small bottle to Noah- it read 'Temp. Transf.', "We're almost out of that stuff. Better get more or else the only one working here will have a bad personality and really unprofessional looks! Meow~ And nothing could be more 'professional' than ditching the shop to... where ever the hell you're going! Please don't tell me with this charmer." She looks at Leroy from bottom to top and snorts.
