syaoran-puu
He snorted at that. "No." He quirked a brow. "I would rather sleep outside in the sun and know where you are than let you loose at your place. For all I know you'll have contacts or plot against me.... I'm not going to die over this. I might want the girl back, but that doesn't mean I will be foolish about it." He scowled deeper and looked away, not able to look at the guy. It was odd, a mix of feelings that he didn't even know here to begin to process. Probably best to ignore them. "You have my word that I will not enter the room while you sleep. I have a room in the basement, it has a bed and a small bathroom but no windows. Darkest room in the house." It also blocked phone signals due to the lead that lined the walls of the structure.... one could never been too safe. Better safe, than dead, even sorry didn't equate into things in his world. In many ways it was his 'escape' room. He rolled his eyes when Shasta started to mock him, even if his lip did twitch slightly as if a smile might form. He ignored it and pushed the amusement he felt aside. He turned back to the guy, looking him dead in the eyes. "I don't trust anyone. Even the other slayers. It's nothing personal." And yet.... he had trusted the guy enough to allow his arm around his shoulder, to allow him to touch his hair and caress him. Why, oh why, was he thinking about that.... that kiss! He needed a bloody brain enema or something! When the guy spoke again he just shrugged, "I'd think of something. Even if I didn't get in via traditional methodology." He wasn't about to reveal his secrets, but Jasper also wasn't above using others to get what he wanted... case and point, the vampire beside him. And when that failed.... he was more than happy to turn stalker. He chuckled a little, actually chuckled.... what the hell was getting into him? "And I believe that as much you do." He was curious, that was the only excuse he could think of! "So, decide. You coming or not Shasta?" He'd give the guy one last out, but after that he wouldn't ask again. themasterdances
Shasta gave a little chuckle, “Yeah, I will feed my cat, then concoct an evil plot against you.” Then Jasper was describing the room he'd be allowed to use while staying at the other's house. He wouldn't feel as safe as being at his own place, but it was reassuring. “That will do..” Quietly, he added, “Thank you.” Letting him out of the bracelet seemed like a fairly trusting move on Jasper's part. At least, Shasta thought so. It was enough that he was willing to stay in the car, and even go home with the other man. “Sounds lonely.” He mad a fluttery gesture with his hands that might have looked nervous, but was really just Shasta resisting reaching out to ruffle his fingers through the other's hair, or touch him another way. Some sort of comforting gesture- but of course Jasper probably wouldn't find it comforting, so he bundled his hands into his lap instead. “Why not?” It was a prying question, but he figured Jasper would just refuse to answer if he didn't want to say. “Maybe. I guess it's your gettin' out that worries me.” He smiled as the other pointed out he didn't believe that. “If you don't say anythin' objectionable, you won't know the difference.” He slid a hand into his pocket, running his fingers over the phone there. “I'll come.” Since he could not think of a way around it, he pulled out his phone, and flipped it open. He typed out a quick message, before holding it out so that Jasper could see. “So you aren't suspicious I'm plottin' somethin'. Acceptable?” The text read: Elijah, get me an invite to the auction. Plus one. He hated making the text, but Elijah would know if he went to the auction through other mans anyway. It was unlikely they could find a quiet way to get the girl free, he might as well embrace all the trouble helping Jasper was sure to bring him. syaoran-puu
"You have a cat?" Jasper couldn't help the question spilling from his lips, his normally stoic expression showing one of surprise. When he was thanked he quirked a brow. He couldn't seem to fathom this vampire. He seemed so.... unconventional, by vampiric standards, so very different to the countless number he had slaughtered over the years. He seemed so very different... almost human. Except Jasper was more than aware of how he had ran into this vampire. What he had been doing. And it removed all doubt. Vampire. This was a blood sucker. Scum. The very creature that Jasper hunted. His hands tightened on the wheel and he glanced out the front window for a moment.... why was it he felt bad for thinking the word 'scum' in relation to Shasta? Probably because he hasn't done anything to deserve it, even the blood sucking act in the alley didn't seem good enough cause to label him scum. He had agreed to help find a human girl after all.... that counted for something. Right? Confusion furrowed his brow before he carefully removed all emotion from his features, though they still shone strong in his eyes, he shrugged and returned to look at Shasta with the lonely comment. "It is what it is." He stated plainly, only shrugging at the question. There was no way he was going to speak... because part of him knew that if he did he would open up and say something he would only regret. Why the hell did this man seem to get under his skin? No, not man.... vampire... he needed to remember that! Even as a voice whispered that he no longer saw Shasta as solely a vampire. Perhaps it was the help he offered, or the fact that even without the bracelet on he was here and willing to help? Or was it more to do with how he had reacted to the other in the club.... even if part of him wanted to ignore that. To ignore he had reacted at all. Still, he should be thankful he got his way, and with a nod he accepted the concern (though he had no idea why the man would worry about a slayer!) and set the car into gear heading home. He remained silent, his mind stewing over his thoughts as he considered so many things.... too many really. When the phone was popped in front of his face he quickly read the message and nodded his head. He appreciated the consideration, and rumbled a "Thanks" As he continued home. The car purred down the streets, the sky lightening slightly, time was getting on and he pushed on the gas and sped home as fast as he dared. It wasn't long before he pulled up, he got out and walked around (habit mostly) the car to open Shasta's door. "Come on then.... I'd ask if you were hungry, but there is no way I'm feeding you.... sorry." He shrugged, offering a slight apologetic smile, in that moment Jasper was more than aware that many of his bites were on display. If you looked closely you could see that many of them were torn looking, the flesh slightly puckered from the rough treatment. Rough memories accompanied them too. Unlocking the door he held it open, "Well?" He glanced at the sky. Time was running out, but not too quickly... they had about forty minutes by Jaspers estimation. themasterdances
“Mhmm.” Shasta sounded absently, until he noticed the other's surprise. He tilted his head, pointing out to the other, “Vampires are not all sociopaths.” Alright, a lot of the older ones are. But 500 plus years of blood lust does strange things to a persons moral compass. Shasta just knew he was a lot less lonely with the calico around than he had been picking up the occasional mortal from the clubs. He nodded at the simple reply. He couldn't really expect Jasper to discuss what was probably a sensitive issue. He resisted letting his gaze flick across the exposed scarring, wondering what sort of story it all spun into. “Mysterious man.” With another nod he pulled the phone back from Jasper's view and sent the message. Elijah would get them the invitations without problem, but the other vampire would know it wasn't somewhere Shasta would normally go. Eventually he'd want to know what Shasta was getting up too. He closed his eyes and tried not to worry about things that were about of his control, instead focusing on the thrum of the car's engine, and Jasper's breath. He could feel dawn creeping closer, and though he knew they had time to get back to Jasper's home, it was disconcerting to be speeding farther and farther away from the safety of his apartment. When they reached the house, Shasta waited for Jasper to come around to his door, amused by the ritual. He raised his brows at the slayer as he got out of the car, conveying with a look that yes, he was hungry, and yes that was Jasper's fault for interrupting him at the start of the night. “You don't have to feed me, but you have to let me eat eventually.” This time his gaze did flick across the scars. Hesitantly, he added, “It doesn't have to be violent and painful, just so you know.” He shook his head, and smiled at the other, “Not that I expect you would ever allow it.” He followed to the house, stepping inside when Jasper opened the door. He hadn't expected to ever have a return visit to the slayer's home. He ran his fingers back through his hair, as he glanced around for the door that likely lead bellow. It was a bit nerve wracking to think about being locked in the slayer's basement. Logically he knew he'd be able to get back out the next night, because Jasper still needed him to save the girl, but it was still unnerving. “Can I borrow something to sleep in?” He frowned slightly, adding, “Maybe we could stop by my apartment tomorrow night? I don't really want to wear the same clothes everyday. And I bled down the back of this shirt.”
syaoran-puu
Not all Vampires are sociopaths, if only he could believe that? He made no comment, simply left it alone almost as if it fell upon deaf ears. Jasper considered the words though, wondering if there was more to Shasta than simply a sociopath? He wasn't sure, he was still undecided by the guy..... he confused Jasper, and Jasper didn't like to be confused. He grunted slightly, "Private." he grumbled, "Private rather than mysterious." The raised brow from Shasta when he got out of the car was disconcerting.... had he done something wrong? He couldn't think of anything and simply shrugged. Still, it was clear, despite the obvious question, that Shasta was indeed still hungry... a thought that did not sit well him at all, every bite mark on his body seemed to itch and throb with a life of their own, as if they were once more touching him, inflicting damage upon him.... disgusting vile creatures. His expression hardened a little even as he nodded slightly. "It doesn't have to be violent and painful, just so you know." Jasper didn't believe that for a moment, there was simply no evidence to support it, and he didn't count those who volunteered for it. Fools in his opinion. "Not that I expect you would ever allow it." "Too right. These..." He indicated towards his arms, "...are more than enough, thank you." And Jasper couldn't wait to have them once more covered, hidden from view, forgotten about. Out of sight and out of mind. Listening to the guy, "Can I borrow something to sleep in?" He nodded, "Yeah.... shirt or trousers or both?" He eyed the guy slightly in an effort to size him up, he doubted his trousers would stay up without being tied tight and he suspected that his shirts would swamp the guy..... what disturbed him was.... why did the idea of him wearing his clothes... well.... turn him on? He watched as a frown seemed to fall onto the other guys face as he spoke once more. "Okay." Was the only reply he gave, for Jasper it was a rather risky move, while the guy couldn't message anyone while in the basement, that didn't mean he trusted the guy at all. Still, he needed to make an.... allowance? Right? He needed Shasta in a good mood, nothing worst than a free vampire on the loose. His eyes carefully darted to the guys wrists and then glanced away again. He stood there for a moment, not saying anything simply... observing. After a moment he said, "Sorry." He quirked a brow. "I'm sorry for dragging you into this Shasta."
themasterdances
Shasta tried not to let his gaze linger on the pattern of scars too long. He didn't like that someone had once torn into the slayer like that, like he was just a chew toy. He wished he could show Jasper how much gentler being bitten could be. He let out a little breath, pushing the thought away- it was silly, and unrealistic. “They are.” He hesitated, before asking in a soft voice, “Was it.. Were they by a vampire you were hunting..?” “Shirt s'fine. Thanks.” He'd just sleep in his boxers- he had a feeling Jasper's trouser's wouldn't fit him well. He smiled wistfully. Earlier that night when Jasper had brought him here, he hadn't wanted Shasta to so much as touch anything, now the other wasn't complaining about lending him a shirt. Maybe the slayer would never trust him, but at least they'd progressed past vampire cooties. He was surprised by the other's easy acceptance. It released a tension Shasta hadn't even realized he'd been holding. “Okay. Good..” He looked down at his feet, hiding a small smile. “You can come with me and everythin', if you're worried. So you can see for yourself I don't have any nefarious plans.” If he had be planning on tricking Jasper he would have done so at the clubs anyway. But he could tell the whole thing made the other nervous, so as long as Shasta was getting what he wanted he didn't mind making allowances for the other too. The apology came as a surprise. He wasn't sure how to respond at first, but after a moment he stepped a little closer to the other, voice quiet but sincere, “I don't really mind.”
syaoran-puu
Slowly Jasper placed a hand on his neck, his thumb stroking the scars, not in love or affection, but almost in pain.... as if to attempt to silently sooth the shattered heart these scars represented to him. For a long moment he did nothing but stare at the other, to observe him and watch. He didn't talk about this... ever. It was a taboo topic that even the other slayers knew next to nothing about. Jasper was a loner and private. He liked his private life to remain just that. Still, he said one word. "No." He would not give details, not this night, already he felt like a raw and angry wound, a blister that was infected and healing poorly..... he didn't wish to inflict even more pain upon himself today! With a nod he stepped towards his room to get a shirt then paused as their conversation continued. He quirked a brow, but once more didn't comment, he imaged that his expression said it all; As if I would have left you alone anyway. And he wouldn't have, danger or not, he would have gone. It wasn't as if Jasper was a stranger to danger.... still, his eyes flickered to the guys wrist again. No bracelet. A true disadvantage..... yet he was tempted to leave all the curtains open around the entrance to his basement so that he couldn't wander or sneak up on him.... or worst right now, escape. Finding him again would be like catching a slippery eel. Deciding not to draw attention to the apology he turned and left to his room, pausing simply to say. "Don't touch anything you shouldn't." Before he continued on his way. In his room he looked at his freshly washed and pressed pile, selecting on of his more favourite shirts.... why was he giving a vampire a favoured shirt? Didn't that taint it? He looked at the blue material then the pile again and frowned. Maybe he should pick another? Jasper contemplated for a moment then frowned, his brow furrowing as his hand clenched around the fabric and then left. It didn't matter.... he'd just have to get rid of the garment later if it become an offensive object. Glancing at the time he sighed, the sun was up now, or at least enough to disturb a vampire. No going back now, he couldn't get rid of the vampire unless he killed him before sunset now. Wordlessly he held out the shirt then opened the door to the basement and held it open for the guy. Inside was rather plain. The walls had been plastered, but left an off white colour, a radiator was installed down here along with a little bathroom cubical and small kitchen unit to one side. It wasn't overly large but it was a decent size, there was a bed as well. Not because he tortured vampires, he didn't bring them down here, didn't bring anyone home actually.... he had simply always prepared a place to escape if he needed. Not sure what to say he just watched the guy for a moment.
themasterdances
Shasta watched the other, feeling he shouldn't have asked. He was surprised to get any answer at all. So he nodded and let it go without farther comment. It wasn't fun being reminded of painful memories, he had enough of his own to feel contrite for pushing the subject. He'd noticed Jasper was making a habit at those quick glances at his wrist. He rubbed his wrist self consciously, worrying the other regretted removing it. The slayer had only taken it off because he'd expected Shasta to leave. There was no way he'd put the thing back on now that he knew what it did. “You know, when you say that I just want to run around your house and lick everything that looks important.” Tempting as the idea was, all he actually did was perch on the same seat he'd had last time. The sun was creeping over the horizon, making him feel twitchy and nervous. He combed his fingers back through his hair, and tried not to think to much about it. He stood when the other returned, gratefully taking the offered shirt. “Thanks.” He looked nervously down the revealed stairs. With the sun coming up, it wasn't like he had any alternatives. It actually looked nice enough, though he somehow doubted the other had planned on subletting. He started down the stairs, stopping before he was very far down to look back at Jasper. “Goodnight?”
syaoran-puu
The moment Jasper noticed that Shasta was rubbing the wrist that had worn the bracelet, even if almost subconsciously, he knew he needed to force himself to stop looking. It was clear that the guy wasn't going to put the bracelet back on, and so Jasper needed to be on guard at all times, he didn't want to end up dead at the hands of some slippery vampire; even if they had been..... he shut off that thought before it was even finished. Now was not the time to thing about such useless things! An act, nothing more. His expression twitched a little, as close to a smile as Jasper ever really got these days. The idea of Shasta going around licking everything that looked important was a rather amusing concept, of course, if he did that Jasper would be forced to kill the guy. He didn't like his private space being invaded, and that would most certainly count as invasion. When he saw the nervous look upon Shasta's face Jasper had to force himself to look away. Part of him wanted to comfort the creature, and the thought of doing that for a vampire was near repulsive... what the hell was up with Shasta that he caused such chaos with Jaspers mind? Was the vampire some how playing mind games on him? He hoped not, that would just royally piss him off! Of course, right now that would likely be preferable to the alternative.... Still he grunted, "There are no windows down there." As if that would somehow put the other at ease. He doubted it, the vampire was in foreign territory. For all he knew Jasper would call other slayers and they would raid the guy while he slept. Yeah, he knew it happened..... but that wasn't Jaspers style. His word meant a lot to him, his code of honour that he cherished and held in high regard, even as the world seemed to fall into disorder around him. When the guy said Goodnight Jasper looked at him once more with slight surprise and nodded. Why did the guy have to act so... normal? Was he simply a newbie? Still clinging to a fragile sliver of his humanity? "Good...night." It would be day really, yet he supposed since they would be sleeping, 'night' was more appropriate. He didn't say more simply turned and went to his own room. He paced around, grabbing a long sleeved top and bottoms before heading towards the shower. Jasper didn't usually wear pyjama tops for bed but he couldn't bring himself to go topless in case he accidently walked into Shasta at some point and the other saw the full extent of his torso scars. There was no way the guy was ever going to see more than he already had... which meant no nakedness either.... he paused in his pacing and frowned. Why did.... why the hell did the thought of seeing Shasta appeal! He was losing his fucking mind! He had to be! There was no other bloody explanation right now. Shasta was a vampire. The enemy. Jaspers enemy. There was no grey area to that! He simply needed to use the vampire to achieve his objective, to save that little girl.... after that he would cut the vampire loose and all bets were off. He would become the hunter the vampires had made him to be! For it was there fault he was what he was! Turning on the shower he headed back to his room as it warmed up and grabbed his comb to do his hair. Green eyes darted suddenly to the curtains and he pulled them open so he could see a hint of the rising sun. It calmed him, as it always did. His heart calming to a steady tattoo in his chest once more. He had probably bitten off more than he could chew with this mission.... but there was no going back now! themasterdances
Shasta settled himself onto the little bed, wondering what the basement room was normally used for- certainly not for visiting vampires, though with the lack of windows it was actually pretty perfect. He stripped out of his clothes and pulled Jasper's clean shirt on. He wouldn't have considered himself scrawny, but the shirt swamped him compared to the other man's athletic body.. He lifted the neck of the shirt and sniffed, it smelled mostly like laundry soap but he could still make out Jasper's scent in it. He shook his head. It had been a strange night so far. He was 90 years old, he wasn't supposed to do stupid things like get caught up with slayers, or worry about what they were thinking. He climbed into bed in just the borrowed shirt and his boxers, feeling exhausted from a long and strange day. It'd probably be good to look at things with fresh eyes tomorrow night. He reached for his phone, flicking it open to check it one last time before sleep, and frowned when he realized the thing wasn't getting a signal. “Really?” He huffed, attempting to wave the little device in the air to see if he could catch anything. - As the sun went down, the world slowly came back into focus for Shasta. He had a tense moment when he realized he wasn't in his own bed, his own apartment, but he relaxed as he remembered where he was. It was strange to think he'd woken up worse places than a slayer's basement. But since there was no stake through his heart, Jasper must have been good on his word to stay away during the daytime. Hunger was always worst when he first woke up. He stayed quiet for a long time, making sure he had himself completely under control while he listened for any signs of Jasper moving about above. He assumed the other man would be up by now, but he didn't really know the other's sleeping habits. When he felt like he'd pushed the hunger back enough that it didn't show on his face, he climbed out of bed and pulled his jeans on. With bedhead and bare feet he padded up the stairs to see for himself.
syaoran-puu
Jasper couldn't seem to sleep for long, every few hours he was up and pacing a little, getting a drink then heading back to bed. This continued until about 5pm, when he finally gave up and just got up. He warmed himself up some porridge and milk and just leaned against the counter as he thought about everything.... again. How many times was he going to think about what had happened last night? How many times would he relive every moment? Every word? Every touch? Every caress? He growled under his breath and stirred his breakfast just as footsteps caught his attention. He moved to the doorway and watched as the guy seemed to move gracefully yet slightly nervous. He stayed silent for a moment, just watching. His shirt seemed to swamp the guy, yet oddly he liked it... today Jasper wore a turquoise shirt, gold cravat and dark jeans. He felt better being covered up, the memory of the previous night was not appealing.... and worst, he knew he'd have to do it again for the stupid auction. Not that he was pleased about that. "Good morning." He said sulkily as he watched a moment longer then returned to the kitchen to dish up his breakfast. He moved to sit at the breakfast bar, his normal seat as he silently ate his breakfast and drunk a glass of pure orange juice. After a moment he spoke, pretty sure that the vampire would follow him here. "Blood..... does it have to be drunk from the source?" He wasn't sure where he was going with this, but he knew he couldn't watch the vampire.... hunt.
themasterdances
Shasta tilted his head curiously at Jasper's sulking, but smiled as he answered, “Morning.” He crossed to the breakfast bar, leaning against it near the other rather than sit down. He didn't know what the slayer had been thinking about up until now, but the man didn't seem more unhappy with the situation than he had yesterday, so that was probably a good sign. His brows rose at the question, “No. It just has to be alive, and human.” He shrugged slightly, adding, “We can keep blood on ice the same way a blood bank does, but it's not as... affective.. when it's not fresh.” It also tasted awful, but that was the price of convenience. He watched the other man, somewhere between wary and curious where the other's thoughts were going. He shifted into one of the seats after all. He liked the smell of Jasper's breakfast. Breakfast in particular always smelled good, and since he was only up at night, it wasn't something he could smell very often. It reminded him of happy memories. “Hm.. Did you have anything else you wanted to ask about? I don't really mind.”
syaoran-puu
Jasper ate his breakfast, simply contemplating the vampires words, alive and human? Yep, that was rather... unsettling. He wasn't entirely sure what he was contemplating, why he had even asked.... but he had asked, and there was no unlearning what he'd just been found out. As for asking more questions.... he didn't want anything. Licking his lips slightly after finishing he frowned slightly and shrugged at Shasta, eyeing the guy carefully for a moment. "You're hungry." He stated, not asking it a question, he didn't need to. Shasta's words from the previous night haunted him, he'd spent quite a bit of time thinking about that too.... even some wondering what it would be like to let the vampire bite him. "It doesn't have to painful you know." ....painful.... he knew he couldn't allow the vampire to bite him, but the thought of him biting anyone else was.... unacceptable as well. He stood up, put his bowl in the sink and then took out a pint glass and grabbed a knife. He made a slice at his wrist and watched as the blood bubbled up and flowed into the glass. Satisfied there was enough, not quite a full pint he put pressure on the wound and grabbed a bandage and wrapped it up tight, using his teeth. He was used to tending wounds himself. "There." He said, not looking at the vampire or the blood. Oddly enough.... he couldn't.
themasterdances
Shasta was content to sit quietly while the other ate. His attention shifted between imagining what the slayer was thinking, and day dreaming. He blinked, surprised by the other's statement, though he tried to keep it from showing on his face. Of course he was, they'd said as much the other night. Maybe Jasper was thinking about letting him hunt or make a quick stop at a club? It was hard to picture the other man allowing anything like that, though. “Jasper!” He jerked to his feet, as the other man went from innocently putting a dish in the sink, to slicing a clean line across his wrist. Well, it was too late to stop the other party from harming themselves. He watched Jasper's blood overflow into the glass. Though he kept a straight face, the way his pupils were blown out made his interest in the pint obvious. “You shouldn't..” He trailed off, voice going quiet as he watched Jasper matter of factly bandage himself up. After a moment, he moved to take the glass, telling the other “It would have done you less damage to let me bite you.” He stared down at the glass, feeling conflicted between frustration and gratitude. “I.. well.. thank you.” He was glad Jasper wasn't looking at him- something about drinking another persons blood in front of them was making him feel very self conscious. He sipped from the pint, closing his eyes as the warm liquid soothed through him.
syaoran-puu
Jasper mostly ignored the vampires protests, if he didn't he knew full well that he would likely lose his bottle and knock the glass to the floor wasting the blood. He was also glad he didn't look, he didn't want to see whatever expression was on the other mans face.... hunger, repulsion, delight? No, he'd be chastising himself as it was already, he didn't want to be adding to his own misery! "You shouldn't..." I know, he thought, the idea that he was feeding a vampire completely repulsed him.... the idea he was feeding Shasta gave him mixed feelings, which only confused the crap out of him!! What the hell had this bloodsucker done to him! Less damage.... he doubted that, the linger psychological scars lingered after all these years, and the thought of voluntarily adding another one made him want to cry, to scream.... and then behead the creature that suggested it! No, there would be no biting. Never again. "Never." He whispered. Walking away when the sound of drinking filled the otherwise quiet room, he couldn't stand it, the smelt of tinted iron tickled his nostrils, and for a moment he feared he might vomit after all! Leaving the kitchen was the only option, and before long he was out of the kitchen and at his weapon store. He looked at his supplies, making mental calculations of what needed ordering, what he wanted to get... anything to not think about the vampire, which unfortunately also meant that tonight's excursion was out! It was all too connected to Shasta right now. Taking a deep breath he braced both hands on his weapon cupboard and closed his eyes, taking several deep breaths..... a bracelet free vampire, who was now stronger because of his blood, was roaming around his home.... what the hell had he got himself into! Insanity must have taken over. Evidently he was going to die soon. ....but not before he found that little girl! Even if was the last thing he did. themasterdances
Shasta listened to Jasper leave the room rather than look. He tried not to imagine what Jasper was thinking, or how disgusted the other man might be. It's not like I asked him to do that. He thought defensively, staring down into what was left of the blood. He couldn't help needing blood. It felt a little like being set up to fail. And at the same time... it was a very kind thing to do, considering how much it must have unsettled Jasper to do it. He finished the pint, and settled the blood stained glass into the sink. His naturally pale skin had more color too it now, healthier looking now that there was more blood circulating his system. Deciding to give Jasper a little but of space, and borrowed a sponge and some dish soap, and turned the hot water on the sink to wash his glass and the dishes from Jasper's breakfast. It was better than leaving the bloody pint for Jasper to deal with, and he might as well do all of the dishes while he was at it.
syaoran-puu
Selecting several weapons, and his usual daggers, Jasper armed himself up. He doubted they would be going anywhere for a while.... and the simply act of arming himself helped to sooth his racing thoughts. The familiarity of the act helping. Calmed, and no longer thinking about his blood running voluntarily around the blood suckers veins.... okay... he wasn't completely comfortable with the notion, but he would deal with it. Locking the unit he headed back towards the kitchen only to pause at the sound of... dished being washed? He peered in curiously. In this moment, it was almost as if the guy was normal. Not a vampire or a slayer. Just a regular man... a regular attractive man. What was it about vampires being unnaturally good looking? A way to lure other humans in? Or simple vanity? Jasper kicked himself off the door frame, but instead of talking he just picked up the dish towel and started to dry the dishes before returning them to their rightful places. Companionable silence? Jasper was used to silence, it didn't bother him at all, he actually found peace in the silence. After their task was done he said softly, almost as if he was regretful for breaking the silence. "News from your contact?" There wasn't much to do until then.... though he wanted to do something, it wasn't exactly like he could go out hunting vampires with one in toe.... that simply seemed... bad form. Of course, what was he meant to do with the vampire until then? Jasper had no idea.
themasterdances
Shasta's only reaction to Jasper joining him was a pleased hum. The silence felt comfortable. By the time they were done with the chore the tension that'd been bothering him had mostly washed away, and without hunger making him edgy he was feeling rather content. He was quiet for a moment, “Not yet. I doubt he's been awake for long. He'll..” He sighed, “He'll set it up. Don't worry.” He laughed, a little darkly, “I'll just have to explain to him why at some point- that is assuming we don't make a mess of things at the auction, and everyone finds out anyway.” At least it would save him thinking up an excuse. He shifted to face the other, leaning a hip against the counter. “When can we go to my apartment?” He knew the other man was reluctant, but at the very least he'd need his own clothes for going to the auction. Though he wasn't in any particular rush to take Jasper's shirt off. It was worn in and oversize in just the right way to be comfy.
syaoran-puu
Jasper nodded, forced to accept the others schedule nodded. "Okay." He knew it wasn't Shasta's fault, that didn't mean he was happy about it. "If you must.... just..." He contemplated his words carefully, then said softly, "....don't put the mission in danger." He said seriously. Looking at him for a moment then nodding. Still, the guys laughter was rather sweet. With some reluctance he nodded, "We can go now...." At least it would give them something to do while they waited. He crossed his arms, frowning as he wondered what would go wrong now... and he was sure something was going to go wrong. "Where do you live?" He huffed out. Moving to the hall he grabbed his waist coat, deciding to forgo the jacket so he had less restricted movement. He shrugged and ran his fingers through his hair. "Go change. I'll wait."
themasterdances
Shasta waved his hand, “I'll explain to him after. At best he's indifferent to a mortal girl's fate, but he's not indifferent to what I do, unfortunately.” Kidnapping another vampire's pet was not the sort of thing that only got you a slap on the wrist. He smiled at Jasper, reassuring the other, “It won't affect you, or the mission. Forget I mentioned it.” His smile turned a little sweeter, happy the other was being agreeable. It seemed like a bad idea to let Jasper know where he lived, but seeing as he could find the other's house pretty easily by now, it was fair. “I have an apartment on 5th street. I'll point it out to you when we're close.” Shasta nodded, heading downstairs. He replaced his things- shoes, jacket, scarf- but kept Jasper's shirt on for now. It was comfy, and his old one had a blood stain on it. “Ready~” He called as he came back up the stairs.
syaoran-puu
"Why?" He asked in confusion, "Why is he interested in what you do?" Only three reasons came to mind. One, they were lovers, a thought that oddly didn't appeal at all! Two, the guy was Shasta's maker. Three, the guy had some sort of power over Shasta.... keeper perhaps? Maybe the rumour of the guy being young was true? Jasper hated those words, forget about it, that just made him want to do just the opposite. He crossed his arms and silently quirked a brow in challenge to the guy.... waiting for elaboration, he couldn't and wouldn't just drop it. He nodded when Shasta gave his address, or a hinted indication at least. He didn't blame the guy for his reluctance, already he was wondering if he needed to move.... it would be safer.... but rather a shame, considering he loved his home just the way it was. When the vampire came back still wearing his shirt he eyed him for a moment, eyes lingering on the shirt.... his shirt. Yeah, he might have been a little pleased, yet at the same time he wondered if he would get it back? Inclining his head again, not trusting his own voice at all he simply unlocked his door and then locked it behind them. The car was cold, a touch of frost lingering despite the time of year.... it didn't bode well in Jasper's mind, not that he got a choice about that. "We can't linger...." He stated matter of factly, not trying to be bossy, but clear. It didn't take long to drive them to 5th Street.
themasterdances
The vampire hesitated over how to answer. He hadn't really expected Jasper to want to know anything beyond what was immediately relevant to the mission. His tone was carefully neutral when he did answer, “He's my sire. The one who made me.” He ducked his head, shrugging slightly, “I wouldn't have contacted him if I could think of a better way to get in.” When he noticed Jasper's gaze linger on the borrowed shirt, he just smiled. He'd bundled his old shirt up into his jacket pocket, but he wasn't giving up Jasper's shirt until he had something fresh to wear. He followed outside, taking a deep breath of the brisk night air. He settled into the car, and gave the other a curious look. “And here I was hoping we'd play a game of Candy Land or something.” He drawled, playful. He thrummed between nervous and happy the closer they got to his apartment. “You can park somewhere along here.” It wasn't the nicest neighborhood, but the apartments were relatively cheap, and still pretty well located within the city. --- Shasta lead Jasper up a flight of stairs on the outside of the nearest building. He unlocked his door when they reached it. “Make yourself at home.” It was a small space, a bit cramped between the couch and tv taking up one half of the living room, and a desk with an older computer the other. There were a few odds and ends giving the place character- a type writer sitting under the desk, and the shelves overflowing with books. A cat tree was nestled next to the couch. The living room opened to a fairly basic kitchen on the left, and to the right were a pair of doors it was safe to assume led to the bathroom and bedroom. syaoran-puu
A vampire sire? It was rare to have one revealed, then again, most vampires weren't exactly chatty when a slayer was around... plus, Jasper wasn't usually interested in any of the tripe that generally fell from vampire lips. He wouldn't be enthralled... yet he had to wonder... was he already? Had he been changed somehow, softened somehow? After all... the compulsion he usually felt to slaughter all the vampires around him wasn't there, it was almost as if he saw Shasta as.... more? Different? Human? He wasn't sure what, but what he was sure of was that he could never tell the guy! Never let on that that was how he felt! It was imperative that it remained a secret. Falling silent, after all silence was golden and kept him somewhat distant from his current partner, if the guy could be called that, he drove and followed directions before finally reaching the guys home. Parking up and getting out he nodded silently, feeling very much like he was about to walk into the vipers nest... worst thing was, he probably was. He softly brushed down his waist coat, taking some comfort in the feel of his concealed weapons. They may not help him, but he felt better all the same... he would go down kicking, screaming and fighting until his eyes turned dim and the last breath escaped his cold dead body. Green emerald eyes turned to Shasta and he nodded again. "Make yourself at home," as if he could ever do that! There would be no relaxing here, no attempting to feel at home or even taking comfort in the almost ordinary surroundings. He was surprised though, the space was small... though well cleaned, but sparse in anything that might be considered expensive. Jasper had always assumed most, if not all vampires, were wealthy, they lived a long time, they tended to stick together and pool all their money together. Rich, pompous bastards! Yet this.... this was mundane almost, the perfect camouflage. It was rude to examine another's possessions yet he found himself drawn to an old type writer, his fingers reached out as if to touch but Jasper caught himself at the last moment and let his hand fall at his side instead. The books caught his attention and he eyed the titles, he knew a few of them, had read a couple himself but some he had not a clue to... a small sound caught his attention and he looked around and then down only to frown deeper... a cat? His eyes spied the cat tree before returning to the cat. It was a pretty little thing really.... but why was a cat with a vampire? Emergency blood? He had thought that before except this cat appeared... well loved and well cared for. Jasper didn't lower himself down or try to stroke the cat, mostly because he found them unpredictable creatures and he had no intention of adding yet another scar to his seemingly never ending collection. Still he eyed the creature curiously before looking towards the door he was sure Shasta had gone through as he waited. Waiting wasn't usually an issue.... waiting in enemy territory however.... his eyes glanced cautiously at the windows then at the door, a frown deepening and his brows furrowing. Was this a trap....? He sure as hell hoped not.... for all he knew Shasta was asking for help as they spoke! Calling in reinforcements. Slaughter the slayer.... oh what a fun game that must be! Oddly enough, it was the thought of Shasta betraying him that hurt most. Strange and twisted thoughts, he had to push them away. Thinking like that was dangerous! Even for a whispered moment. themasterdances
The calico was a pretty tri-colored thing with long soft fur. It was probably a good thing Jasper didn't try to pet her, as she gave him an unfriendly look and hunkered low on her perch. After a moment she simply jumped from the tree, and fled to hide out of sight in the kitchen. Shasta left Jasper to mill about the living room, disappearing into his bedroom. Ignoring that the other had already told him not to linger, he sat heavily on his bed and took a few moments to soak up being in familiar territory again. He didn't see any reason to be in a rush, but he supposed there was no reason to lollygag either, so he got himself back on his feet, and fished a black shoulder bag out of his closet. He stuffed this with a couple of shirts, and an extra pair of pants, erring on the side of caution until they had more information. Reluctantly he pulled Jasper's shirt over his head. He bundled the cloth in his hand, letting his fingers rub into the cloth, hardly warm from being on a cool body. He imagined removing it from Jasper's body instead- how warm would it be, if it was heated by a living person's flesh? What hard muscle and scars would be revealed underneath? Shasta made a derisive little snort at himself. Just what did he think he was day dreaming about? It must have been to long since he'd been with anyone, if his mind kept wanting to wander to thoughts of the slayer. A slayer who was surely repulsed by his touch at that. Considering he shouldn't even be talking to the other man, and vice versa, he was oddly attracted. The vampire practically jumped out of his skin when his phone buzzed from a text. He cursed under his breath, as he took the phone out, flipping it open to see he finally had a reply text from Elijah. Without bothering to replace his shirt, he opened the door, leaning in its frame as he looked for Jasper, “Elijah replied.” He paraphrased as he read from the phone, “The auction starts at 1 AM tonight. My name will be on a list, so we can both get in. And there's directions.” He sighed, a brief lift and fall of his bare chest, before he held the phone out a small ways. “Do you want to read it for yourself?” He didn't really mind, but it would be nice if Jasper could just take his word for it. syaoran-puu
Please Register/ Sign In, in order to see the links. ((I am so sorry! Life ate me alive and then some. I am trying to make a come back though! I miss our RPs, I keep thinking about them and it makes me sad that I have abandoned you all for so long. Forgive me?)) Jasper watched the cat until the creature clearly got bored and left, stood with nothing else to do he glanced around at the vampires place. Not a coffin in sight, nor did he see all the things he had half expected. It was rather.... ordinary, in a nice way. Maybe there was just a hint of stereotype built in with his impression of vampires? Then again, before now no one had surprised him at all. The vampires all acted the same. Egotistical, arrogant, violent and volatile arseholes who saw humans as sheep or worst, just blood. Who wanted to deal with that all the time? It wasn't as if Jasper was lacking the testosterone to compete, simply lacking the desire. He ran a hand over his head, he suspected that this would be his last mission. That even if he saved the girl that he wouldn't live to see the same light at the end of the tunnel. That was okay though. He was sick and tired of blood and pain and constantly looking over his shoulder. Plus he knew that should he step down there were several others more than willing to take his place. Let them. It has never been about the power.... or the prestige, though he knew he had long ago earned himself many rumours and whispers, fear and awe often spun in the eyes of the recruits he sometimes tutored. Learning to survive though, it wasn't really something that could be taught.... you had to live it. Which was why so many recruits died so easily, they simply didn't have the skills or knowledge to survive. He felt a shard of pain for each lost life, but in war there were always casualties on both sides. Jaspers thoughts were abruptly interrupted by the appearance of Shasta. He leaned on the door frame like a lazy god, all sleek muscles and perfect flesh. Not a scar or mark, none that Jasper could see at least, seem to mark him.... and as his eyes practically devoured the other he knew he really should be paying attention. He wasn't safe here, and the vampire.... yes, that's right, this pretty creature was a vampire! He couldn't ever forget that fact.... still, the creature was talking.... focus idiot. He chastised himself. Focusing on the guys words he snapped his eyes to meet those of the bloodsucker. "I see." he commented dryly. His eyes glanced at the phone but he simply shrugged. "I believe you." He said, the fact that the guy seemed so ready to let Jasper look went some way to easing his thoughts. Plus he knew he had to trust the vampire a little if this was going to work... and not just because once more his eyes ventured lower to examine the vampires body. He could just imagine pinning the guys hands above his head, stealing a rough, passion filled kiss before fucking him hard and fast against the wall. He groaned. Oh fuck. It has been too long...... With effort he growled and looked away. He wouldn't apologise for his thoughts, but he wouldn't.... couldn't.... act on them either. Ever. Not that he thought the blood sucker would welcome him, but still. Straightening himself up, and hoping the erection he now sported wasn't obvious behind his jean covered crotch, he allowed his gaze to drift around the room. It was a good job he'd bothered with underwear or he was sure his cock would have a permanent zipper mark embedded in it. Thinking about the case, about the girl he sighed and turned to look at the sexy vampire again. A brief thought wondering if he was being enthralled crossed his mind.... nah, somehow he doubted that. "What is the dress code?" He needed to know what he was expected to wear. The thought of revealing his scars once more was as good as a cold shower. But he would do it. "I will warn you. I will not go there unarmed...." He would however accept only taking his twin daggers, he normally wore more but he couldn't come across as a threat in fear of the little girl paying the ultimate price. That was unacceptable.
