Case 01: Higashi Chaya Gai Operation The Geisha community has been long abolished but an underground group simply called X have decided to reinvent and relieve the district's vibrancy. And so to say, the perfect location to revive the Geisha era is in Kanazawa. The Higashi Chaya District is the biggest of the four chaya (Geisha) districts in Kanazawa. The X group had made the city's tourism overwhelmingy successful that it had became another legal business in the country. It seems a yet another unsuspecting cultural revival but that was just the facade of it all. As unquestioning as it may seem, the geisha houses offers a "freebie" on whoever avails their special X promo. A single pill that will change their experience and will definitely add bliss during their stay in the chaya. The Pill-X A plain white pill with an X mark on either side. It's so small you'd think it's harmless once taken. But Pill X is what its inventors say a 'revolutionary drug' ever made in history. The certain drug plays a big role in the sex industry in Japan. Sure, people can just use rohypnol or MDMA for the enhancement of sexual pleasure. But Pill-X can outmatch the benefits given by the said drugs. It has a much higher psychoactive effects of creates euphoria, hallucinations and enhanced sensation, specifically the sexual senses. It could be like any other sex drugs but Pill-X, much to the developer's surprise have a very high toxic side-effect. After a few hours of bliss and euphoria, the user will experience blurred vision that leads to temporary loss of sight but doesn't have a reassurance of ever returning to normal, loss of appetite then afterwards, coughing up blood and then a high probability of death. The Kanazawa Intelligence Department was called forth to investigate the said drug trade in the hearth of the Geisha district, bust the illegal drug operations and to stop putting the entertainer's and other people's life from sure death. Work Background: Hajime was once in the police force but then he got injured by a gunshot on his left arm leaving it to have a very limited movement. Having such injury, he decided to join the investigative force instead so he could still be of service. Personal Background: Hajime lives in an apartment on his own where the company had leased to him with a lower interest. The place isn't much but he had learned to like it. He had a sister but died because of an accident. The forensics showed otherwise that it wasn't an accident at all and she was poisoned. Kinks: Handcuffs. Others: Has a tattoo on his right shoulder. Is ambidextrous. Past: Rei was a bright young student, always at the top of his class. He had a keen interest in computers and wanted to work in an IT firm. However, his dreams were shattered because of a paper leak. It was his last semester and he had just one exam left. It was the toughest one too but Rei was really smart so he wasn't stressing out too much. However the damn paper got leaked a few hours before the exam and the person who leaked it made sure to lead all traces pointing towards Rei. Rei was banned from giving his exam and got expelled. He was furious but he couldn't prove his innocence. He was frustrated and decided to put his computer skills to use. That is why he decided to join the investigative force. Personal Background: Rei was an orphan and had no idea who were his parents nor what his roots were. He grew up in an orphanage and showed a keen interest in computers at a very young age. His mentor, guide and father figure noticed it and encouraged him. Thus, he studied hard and wanted to be one of the best computer engineers around. When his dreams were shattered, he put his heard and soul in his work and even though he was a junior, he was dedicated and a very hard worker. It had started snowing and Kuro Hajime, a 24 year-old young man who works as a detective for the Kanazawa MIS walked through the halls of the headquarters. His blue eyes, which had started to fade along with the dullness of his surroundings, were focused in one direction as he made his way to the Lieutenant's office. Faint voices of men from the distance, tapping of shoes against the white marble floor and, as usual, a number of phone calls were the only ones you'll hear from this dull, colorless workplace. Even he himself could blend into this dullness with his stark white shirt with sleeves that were neatly rolled to the hilt of his elbow, the black pants and those overly formal-looking dark blue tie. The only thing that he finds colorful were the decorations put on the walls and on the edges of the cubicles for Christmas. Maybe it's the snow that comes with it, but Hajime's heart had been cold enough to even feel the season. Hajime was once part of the police force, but then he got shot on his left arm during action that had him a very limited arm movements after the operation. To gain his self-respect back, Hajime decided to transfer to the investigative side of the force to still be of service. Only then he had found himself stuck with a bunch of snotty police men who acts like office workers who don't even lift their butts off their chairs. It was ugly. Hajime didn't expect himself to be working with these people. If only this specific person that Hajime finds quite interesting made a more approachable aura. Rei... The fact that he couldn't call that man by his last name, since Rei had refused to state any, purely annoys him. What irks him even more was the fact that he even bothered researching about their new I.T. guy, spending a whole day to know his background. And for what? To only feed his own curiosity. Hajime still denies to himself of his keen interest over the golden-eyed tech savvy. He took a detour, walking past around the men who were gathered watching a football game in one of the company's computer before stopping at the corner most cubicle. He glanced over the male that was sitting in front of the computer who seems to be typing some codes that looks foreign to his eyes. Clearing his throat, he tried to put his best composure as he began talking to the male. "Lieutenant Sawada wants to talk to us regarding the new operation." he said. He didn't even bother calling him by Rei's name since it would still be inappropriate for him to do that. Despite the weather outside, the office had the air conditioner running. Oh, how he hated sitting in office. If he had a choice, he would have preferred working from home. After all, his work mainly consisted of computer coding and data analysis. Then he would not have to travel all the way to this dreadful office in the cold nor would he have to deal with the people who worked here. Stark, cold and gloomy – those three words were enough to sum up the office environment he had to face every single day. Rei was the latest addition to the Kanazawa MIS headquarters. He was a quiet guy and kept to himself. On the first day in office, he finished doing background checks on all the staff as well as his superiors. As the days passed by, he managed to secretly hack into the central database and went through most of the top classified files. Whenever he got bored, he randomly hacked into a staff member or superior's computer. And that was how he got to know Detective Kuro Hajime. Surprisingly or rather, unsurprisingly, Rei discovered that he was not the only one who did background checks. He found an entire folder containing his very own background history, right from his birth to the reason why he was expelled from college, on the detective's computer. Rei's eyes narrowed. This guy had no business to know more than he should know. He dug deeper into the computer looking for details about the other employees. Surprisingly, he didn't find any. He snooped around the man's computer a bit more but that only left him confused and puzzled. The detective had not done any other background checks. Or if he did, all traces of it were gone. His was the only one that was done and all the information was saved too. Why? What was this man thinking? Rei hated guessing. He always knew what was going on in the other person's head. Well, most of the time he did. But this man was different. And he showed a rather strange interest in Rei which was very unnerving. Sighing, Rei leaned back and closed his eyes. Knowing that he wouldn't get any more answers out of a machine that didn't talk back, he opened up the code he was working on and soon enough, he was completely immersed into it. So much so that he didn't even realize Detective Hajime was standing right in front of his cubicle. Only when the blue-eyed man cleared his throat did Rei glance up from the screen, eyes slightly unfocused and mind still not processing that the man in front of him was the very person he was puzzling about, a little while earlier. He was still trying to debug part of the code in his head, slightly miffed at the fact that he had made a tiny mistake and couldn't find it as quickly as he should have. "Lieutenant Sawada wants to talk to us regarding the new operation." What? The words hit Rei like a bolt of lightening and he sat up straighter, eyes snapping back into focus. “Detective Hajime?” He tilted his head and scrutinized the man standing in front of him. Suddenly his eyes lit up and he went back to typing furiously on the computer. “I am such a fucking idiot.” Talking to no one in particular, he clicked a button and fell back in his chair, lips curling up into a small triumphant smile. “Finally! He knew the man was strange. He once saw Rei muttering on himself one time when he was able to catch him in the office's restroom. That was one of the many things that got him curious about the male. Rei was a rather interesting guy, not to mention smart. He couldn't help, as if it was on cue, that he raised one inquisitive brow when the other mumbled to his breath about something being an idiot. "Excuse me?" he blinked rapidly, wondering if he had just been told an idiot. When he realized Rei was just talking to himself yet again, he shook his head while pressing the bridge of his nose in annoyance. "If you're done with your codes, please head to Lieutenant Sawada's office. We'll be waiting for you before the meeting starts." he turned and went back to where he was headed first. "Good morning, Lieutenant." he greeted once he stepped a foot inside the enclosed office. The right side of the room was filled with piled boxes containing different papers and documents while the rear side were lined with more file cabinets. The lieutenant, which is apparently a woman who looks way younger than her age, turned her head and simply nodded. She was busy looking for some more files that were piled on top of her desk. It was clear that the woman have no sense of organization that Hajime finds a bit amusing but he knew why this woman is appointed in the position despite that fact. Hannah Sawada is one of the most prestigious officers back then and her leadership was first-rate. Men literally tremble in her presence. "Where is Rei?" she shortly asked, still fumbling on the file folders in front of her. "He's coming. He just need to sort his head out since he just finished doing some codes." Hajime said with a light shrug as he took a seat on the empty side of the couch. The other side was also filled with clutter, this time they were books. He had no idea why he was summoned and he hoped he wasn't going to get fired for reading all those confidential files. Sighing, he stared at the computer till the last shred of evidence was deleted. Then he went threw a few folders and took some papers, putting them into his bag hoping that nobody noticed. Rei never trusted anyone, especially after he was expelled for a crime he had not committed. After that moment, he always covered up his tracks, not bothering to even consider whether what he was doing was right or wrong. He was young and inexperienced, as he had taken almost a year off after the expulsion. He looked around at the hustle and bustle of the office. No one gave him a second glance. He checked his watch and realized almost 1o minutes had passed since Hajime came calling. He stood up and stretched, closing his laptop. Rei strolled into Lieutenant Sawada's office, not bothering to ask whether he could come in. He nodded at the lady in front of him and didn't bother to greet Detective Hajime again. He still had to find out why the guy had so much of information on him. He stood at the opposite side of the couch, staring in shock and surprise at the messy office. How in the world could anyone function in this place, he thought darkly. Shaking his head slightly, he looked up at the Lieutenant as she began to speak.
