unicorndinosaur
There was something grotesque about the sight of the expansive city laid out before him. From the ledge he was sitting on, Ren could see the smokestacks and filthy streets in all their glory. This life is what he'd been spared from, and for that he was grateful. His year spent with humans and halflings had shown him compassion, greed, sin, and fleeting moments of desire that drove him to prayer during the nights. But understanding humans wasn't in his assignment - tracking down the half breeds was what he had been sent to do. He had succeeded in converting a few, but only with the threat of violence. For the most part, it had been a mission to eliminate them. The half breeds weren't hard to spot among a crowd. All he needed to look for was a shadow that moved on it's own and eyes that weren't quite human. That night, he had little trouble spotting his mark, though he found himself watching more than usual. Taking his coat to cover his wings, he stepped out into the streets
King Regnant
A cloud of smoke exhaled from his nose as he walked, Mori weaving his way through the crowded streets. It was busier then usual despite the time - perhaps due to the oncoming holidays. Whatever it was, it made the halfling frown deeply. His dark eyes glanced around as he observed his surroundings. It was easy to spot those who weren't human, like him.. While they might not have been a half demon like himself, most were struggling to appear normal. Humans didn't typically see the attributes of demons, angels and the supernatural life.. but many times, the human blood within them made it possible for non-human parent to seep into their appearance. This was the case with Mori and his eyes. It was the first thing people would notice about him and as a child, it caused him a lot of commotion. They would blame it on a deform, but as he grew older it seemed people just assumed it was a cosmetic change on his part. This was part of his motivation for getting so many body modifications; tattoos and piercings covered all over his body in attempts to hide his abnormalities by being a freak. There had been a lot of commotion in the city lately as well. While the humans would never notice it, demons had begun to pop up at random and cause trouble. Mori wasn't sure why and he didn't care to find out, his father's 'family' had never wanted anything to do with him due to hi human blood. He had noticed angels appearing more often though, which instinctively gave him a bad feeling. Those were creatures he never wanted to deal with himself, even though he could never really say why. Knowing that they were wandering around the city made him that much more on edge. Mori had just plucked the cigarette from his lips with tattooed fingers when he spotted something. Rising his gaze, he felt his whole body stiffen and he stopped midstep. Was that an angel? His eyes narrowed dangerously as he stared forward at the mysterious man. Taking a step back, the halfling quickly turned around on his heel and began to walk the other way. There was no way he would allow himself to get close - while his brothers and sisters may have took a more... direct approach to being left alone, it was just his nature to avoid complications where possible. The man dipped into a nearby alleyway, where his speed hurried into a quick jog. Filthy addicts sat on the ground, their eyes watching intently at the strange fellow who dared waltz into their little haven of drugs and alcohol. Mori paid no mind though, only stopping at a nearly hidden door in one of the brick walls and disappearing into it. On the other side of the door was a bar; He had entered through the back entrance. It was so dark that it was hard to see the faces of the patrons and the air was thick was cigarette smoke. People grumbled around and nearly tripped over eachother. This was one advantage Mori had; his eyes allowed him to see in the dark. He slid over to the bar and sat down, motioning for the tender to pour him a shot. Hopefully no angel would bother coming in her - humans tended to be worse then demons..at times.
unicorndinosaur
Ren cursed under his breath. He'd let himself be spotted so easily, even after all this time preparing and watching. He had no choice but to follow the man through the night. When he had first seen Mori, his own golden eyes had missed nothing. The tattoos and piercings may have fooled humans, but it was easy for the angel to see him for what he was. He stepped disdainfully around the junkies and garbage littering the alleyway, his breath frosting in the air as he started to run after the man. The cold had been a novelty at first, but the charm was lost on him at present. Ren frowned as he opened the rusty door, bracing himself for what awaited inside. Human establishments like this one made his skin crawl. Weaving through the crowd and catching his breath, he took his heavy jacket off and headed to the bar. With the other humans unable to see his wings, there was little need to hide them anymore. Ren sat down carefully on the stool next to Mori, stretching his wings and casting a glance in the man's direction. The glow from his wings seemed to drown out the music and smoke, blanketing them in an eerie calm. "Should you really be drinking at a time like this?" He asked, voice silky but cold. He was slightly smaller than the man, but was careful not to let on his unease.
King Regnant
God dammit. As soon as the stranger appeared through the door and began to make his way towards him, the halfling let out a rather annoyed sigh. Mori made a face as the angel sat down beside him, but didn't bother to look at the man. He downed the shot and motioned for another to be poured. A scoff rumbled in his throat when the other spoke and his black eyes turned their attention towards one of the wings for a brief second. "..Well, I was hoping to get the fuck away from you." He said flatly as he placed a cigarette into his mouth, his stare not completely focused on the angel. "Bars like this are pretty dangerous and dirty..Was thinkin' maybe you could take a fuckin' hint and leave me be." But that obviously wasn't the case and Mori knew that it had been a stretch to hope for such a thing. He had heard angels could be stubborn, but hell if he knew how true that really was. "Want a drink?" He assumed the answer would be no, but he had the bartender pour two more glasses. Mori scooted one in front of the angel with his finger before dumping the other into his throat. "If you really want my company, then maybe you should partake in some of my pleasures." And drinking was definitely one of them. Mori glanced down at his empty shot glass and then looked back at the man, his eyebrow cocked up. "What do you want? I've never had an angel bother me before.. Can't say I feel real honored." unicorndinosaur
"Aren't you charming," Ren said plainly, accepting the shot and eying it with distaste before downing it. He knew it was against his guidelines, but it was easy for him to forget himself after being away so long "I find your 'pleasures' dull. Do you drink to forget what you are?" The angel raised an eyebrow, watching Mori carefully. The man didn't seem as hostile as others he had met, and the thought of killing always left a bad taste in his mouth. He made a point of meeting Mori's dark gaze, his own eyes sparkling in bright contrast."You don't seem as bad as the others. Why are you so scared of me?" King Regnant
Mori let out a hum of curiosity as he watched the angel down the shot. It was a surprise. He let out a laugh at the question though and quickly ordered a second one for himself. "I drink.. because it's fun." He explained in the simplest of terms as he took yet another drunk and sighed. Leaning his weight onto the bar, he rested his chin into his palm as he stared at the angel. "I don't think scared is the right word." Tracing his finger along the edge of the shot glass, the halfling gained a deep frown. "It's more like, I don't feel like dealing with you. You seem like a huge pain in the ass." Mori grumbled and leaned back to light his cigarette. "Demons already give me enough trouble.. I'd hate to see what the fuck an angel wants with the likes of me." Eyes narrowing again, he looked back towards the man. "Now why don't you tell me what the fuck you want? I really hate this idle chit chat, as cute as you are." "Why can't you just leave me to be miserable on my own time and terms. I haven't done shit wrong, despite what you probably want to try imply." Mori was well aware that those with demon heritage in the slightest tended to have a bad reputation and for good reason. Demon blood could easily influence a person, no matter how little it was within them. "I'm pretty behaved."
unicorndinosaur
For a moment, Ren seemed to lose his cool air. For a creature like this to speak so plainly to him while remaining civil was certainly new. He looked away from Mori's dark gaze for a moment and contemplated buying himself another drink to ease his nerves. "Well behaved or not, that doesn't change what you are. There are too many of your kind filling the streets these days. I can offer you your life, but you would need to join our cause." He met the man's eyes again, subconsciously biting his lip. Mori's comment about his appearance had caught him off guard. Situations like this were all too new for the angel.
King Regnant
The response Mori gave the angel was a rather hardy laugh. It wasn't pleasant though, no. It was filled with a bitter anger and annoyance that the angel had ven bothered to give him an answer. "That's a real load of bullshit." He snapped in response, his gaze landing back on the man. His pupils had become slanted much like a felines, something that tended to happen when he found himself angered. "You're just like a fucking demon." He snapped in a grumble, turning his whole body to face the angel. Mori stared at him with an angered look, though his pierced lips had curled into a rather cruel smile. "Take me out because I'm a fucking halfling - If I had been a full demon, would you bother me? Probably not, because I can already tell you're likely a pussy when it comes to confronting them, aren't you? Anything that isn't you and is considered weak enough to take out. Fuck them." Slowly Mori pushed himself to stand, towering over the angel as he continued to stare him down. "I didn't get a fucking choice to be like this.. and I've done nothing wrong. So you can shove your ultimatum right up your ass." There was a pause as he smirked further, grabbing onto the other man's jaw and tilting his head back. "Unless you would rather I shove something else up there?" His face got dangerously close to the other's before he quickly yanked away, letting his hand drop down to his side. "Piss off, angel. I don't need you trying to make me feel like I'm worth less. My own kind have already done that plenty enough." As he spoke, Mori's eyes returned to normal and he gained a blank expression. A heavy sighed escaped him as he tossed a few crinkled bills onto the bar, walking away from the angel and out the door.
unicorndinosaur
Ren was incredulous, yet he froze when Mori held his face. The nerve this half blood has was unbelievable. And to suggest he wanted to fuck on top of all the insults was even worse. He should have finished him off right there, he should have fought back - he should have at least said something. No, he'd sat there like an idiot. Downing what was left of Mori's drink and disregarding his jacket, the angel got up and followed him into the cool night air. "What makes you so high and mighty that you can act like such a brat and walk out after you've had your fit?" Ren reached out to grab the man's shoulder, stopping him on the sidewalk with an icy glare. "I was sent here to kill creatures like yourself. You could at least show a little common decency when I try and talk to you - not that I know why I even bothered." He ran a hand through his golden hair, wings resting at his sides."And don't flatter yourself. I'd rather kill you than fuck you."
King Regnant
Mori gritted his teeth when his shoulder was grabbed. He whipped around to stare at the angel once more, letting out an angry breath. "Don't touch me." He snapped, yanking his shoulder away from the angel and taking a small step back. "What in the fuck do you expect me to do? Hm? Roll onto my fucking back like a good little pet and do what you say?" Twirling his finger in the rolling motion, the halfling scoffed. "Go fuck yourself. You just admitted that I'm just another creature, that it doesn't fucking matter if I've done nothing wrong. I'm just another tool that is expandable. I've been told that already by both demons and humans, I don't need some godly fool trying to smash it into my brain as well." Mori's hand curled into a tight fist as he felt himself becoming angrier and angrier. He didn't have to confront his half demon side often, as it was easy to pretend to be human anymore.. but when he did, it caused his temper to flare up wildly. "I don't want to be apart of your cause. I don't know what it is and I don't give a single shit about it. I'm not going to let you use me, just because you fuckers deem my existence a mistake when I had no fucking choice over the entire thing. I'm not a pawn." Mori let out another huff. "If you want to try and kill me, then go ahead." Suddenly a dark shadow appeared under Mori and he grinned widely, his pupils once again turning into thin slits. As though the shadow was nothing more then a hole in the ground, Mori dropped into the surface and let out a laugh. The darkness quickly disappeared, leaving the angel standing alone in the alley. -- Time skip -- Mori had remained on the downlow for the next few days. He hid in his apartment (which wasn't that different from his normal routine) and didn't even bother leaving. It was only wen he needed to actually go into work that he was forced to leave his safe dwelling and he ventured into the human filled world again. Because of his appearance, he had managed to get himself a job at a local tattoo parlor - it worked out well that way. Smiling softly at one of the customers, Mori handed over a slip of paper. He was friendly with the people that came in the shop, as it was one of the only places that people didn't seem to give him stares. Sure, his appearance often gained glances but it was more accepted within the walls of a parlor.
unicorndinosaur
Despite what he had first thought, Ren could no longer view Mori as neutral. He had seen what the halfling was capable of, and he knew what was expected of him in a situation like this. He would have to use force, or kill him. His own hesitation weighed heavily on his mind the next few days. For a moment, he had actually felt intimidated by the human - and he was determined not to let that happen again. It was easy enough for him to find the tattoo parlor, though how to approach the situation was another matter. Opening the door to the shop, Ren put on his most charming smile for the receptionist. "I'm here to get a tattoo," he said gently, scanning the room for Mori. "I was hoping that man would be able to do a piece for me. A cross, specifically." King Regnant
The woman waiting at the desk smiled softly at Ren and nodded. "Sure thing." She said in a sweet voice before waving the man to follow her towards the back of the store. "I think he's just finishing up, actually. You might be able to get it done right away. I don't know though. I guess it would depend on how elaborate you want it, you know?" Waving her hand as she talked, she stopped infront of one of the shop doors and knocked softly. "Mori, I have a customer that wants to talk to you." Once the door swung open and Mori glanced to see the angel, He blinked in surprise. Still, he kept his expression fairly flat. "Ah, I see.. Come on in." He motioned with his head. "Join us, girly. You said you wanted to watch me, right? Might as well now." The girl seemed to beam happily and nodded, quickly plopping herself down into a chair in the room. Mori smirked slightly towards the angel. He wasn't going to let them be alone after the last encounter."Take a seat, man. What's your name? What are you interested in?" "He said he wanted a cross." "Ah. Alright.." Mori hummed and pulled out a book, flipping it open to show the many designs of crosses that he had available right on hand. "Were you thinking of anything like these? Or do you have a custom idea?" His smile curled further as he lifted his gaze to stare at the angel once more. He wasn't afraid to fuck with him now, though the idea of tattooing him seemed like fun. "Have you gotten a tattoo before?"
unicorndinosaur
Mori's invitation to the woman clearly rubbed Ren the wrong way, but he kept quiet about it and followed them into the room. "It's my first, actually,"he replied, keeping his guard up. Glancing over the man's shoulder at the book, he made a point of choosing the most complex one on the page. "I'd like to see you do this one" he mused, pulling up his shirt to point to where his lower hip disappeared under his pants "here". This was clearly a game he enjoyed playing. Why he was wasting his time like this hadn't even occurred to Ren yet. There was no need to toy with Mori, but his attitude from the night before and lewd comments had him looking to even things out. King Regnant
"Oh? Alright." Mori murmured as he pulled out the page that had the cross the angel had picked out. Placing it on the table, he grinned widely and glanced to where the other apparently wanted it. "There? That can be a painful area, you know." He murmured as he reached over to unbutton the angel's pants without care, glancing up as he yanked the cloth down just enough to reveal the skin. His finger slid up the delicate area slowly, wanting to make the angel as uncomfortable as he could in that moment. "Er... Mori, Don't you think you should discuss price and stuff?" The girl asked hesitantly, her face flushed in slight embarrassment, feeling as though she were intruding on a private moment somehow. "Don't worry about, girly. I know this guy. He's good." Mori replied immediately. His eyes glanced at her, then back up towards the angel as he curled his finger further into his pants, daring to touch the sensitive skin. "As long as he thinks he can handle that kind of pain."
unicorndinosaur
Ren wasn't letting onto a thing, but inside his thoughts were screaming. Using such a filthy tactic to get to reach his goal - it was so...human. All the same, he was enjoying himself in a way that he usually didn't with his work. "For someone like yourself, you worry a lot about pain," he mused. "After all, I'm sure this," he touched Mori's lip piercing carefully "Was something you enjoyed secretly. Punishing yourself, I assume." The angel's expression went from playful to serious in a moment as he cleared his throat and glanced back at the girl "Dear, if you'd like to, could you go draw up those prices for me? It would be darling of you." Charm was seldom a tactic he used, but it suited him well.
King Regnant
Mori blinked slowly when he felt his lip touched and the action caused him to frown slightly. His lips pressed together tightly as he stared up at the angel. "Yea, girly. Go out there and draw that up for him for me, please? I'm gonna discuss the boring details for once." He said flatly, making the girl blink and glance back and fourth between the two. There was a silence before she made a noise of agreement and quickly disappeared out of the room to go do her work. In a flash, Mori stood up and grinned widely. "Aren't you a ballsy thing?" He asked with a laugh, finally removing his touch from the angel as he looked at him. "Here I was hoping to have a relaxing day at work.." He picked at his ear with a lazy expression and yawned, flicking a piece of wax. "Don't you have other things to do? I'm sure you're a real important guy - got big plans ahead, right?" "Unless you were fibbing when you said you didn't want to fuck me. You definitely seemed like you were enjoying me touching you real close to that cock of yours." Crossing his arms over his chest, Mori let out a slight sigh. "Really though.. What do you want with me? There are other halflings in the city. Ones that are a lot stronger and useful then me."
unicorndinosaur
"And you certainly didn't waste any time in undoing my pants," Ren replied curtly. "I've learned that to get through to things like you, I need to lower my standards from time to time." He stretched, the tips of his wings accidentally grazing the man's shoulder and making the angel shudder. It was easy for him to forget this man could touch and see them, unlike other humans. Turning away quickly, he changed his tone back to business,"So, tell me. Do I need to get rid of you, or are you willing to cooperate? I could use a scout to find me more of your kind. I'm sick of going from back alley to back alley in search of you. As for the others...I can't have someone who might try and kill me, and I can't have anyone high profile. You seemed just dull enough to do the trick." Maybe being an asshole was the only way to get through to this halfling, he thought.
King Regnant
"I only undid your pants to annoy you." Mori said blandly, wiggling his fingers as though that were most obvious thing ever. His eyebrow rose just slightly when he felt the tips of the wing brush against it - they were softer then he expected. He couldn't help but roll his eyes at the angel and grumble something under his breath, turning to his table and shuffling through his papers in a bored manner. "Sick of it? Then piss off and leave me alone." The halfling grumbled softly, pursing his lips softly. "You're asking me to try and find more halflings, so that you can kill them. Sorry, but I'm not a rat." His voice was calm as he spoke and he let out a sigh, his hand coming up and touching the side of his head that was shaved down. "I've already said it, but you angels and demons are all the damn same. Think you're so damn important that anyone that isn't like you, is just a toy for you to play with." "I'm accepted by no one. The only ones who can understand the type of life I am forced to is, is my own kind." Not th at other halflings were always friendly and easy to get close to though. In fact, they tended to avoid eachother due to that they were often hunted down by bothersome creatures. Most of the time, they were all reserved and more violently then himself. He paused as the human woman suddenly came back, handing a piece of paper to Mori. He glanced over it before smiling warmly at the girl and nodding his head. "Thank you very much.. Sorry, but I think I want to be alone with this client. We have a lot of things to talk about before I can get to it." Mori lied softly, his smile still on his face as the girl nodded at him. "Please don't book anymore appointments with me today. I don't know how long this will take.. Besides, We should make the other asshole work for once." He tacked on the end of the sentence with a grin, and the toher girl laughed before nodding and exiting. As she left, Mori sighed heavily. "Wouldn't it be nice to be human? Living in an ignorant bliss."
unicorndinosaur
"The same?" Ren chuckled, taking a more comfortable seat on the table. "We may dislike you, but we are actually considering including you, unlike your half relatives." The angel twirled a strand of his gold hair around his finger, growing more annoyed by the second. "And a toy? Don't flatter yourself. Tools - you are tools. If I wanted a toy, I'd look elsewhere." It was unusual for Ren to be quite so hostile, but he found himself more and more put off by this rude halfling. "I offer you some measure of kindness - salvation even - and you let your own pathetic pride get in the way of the opportunity?" The angel stopped abruptly when the girl came back in, giving her a warm smile that lasted only until she left. "Do you want me to kill you?" he asked after a pause. He reached out and grabbed Mori by a strand of his long hair, pulling him closer. There was no anger on his face, just boredom and frustration. King Regnant
"Holy fuck, you're way of thinking is retarded." Mori said flatly as he stared right back at the angel, not seeming to care very much that his hair was grabbed. "You really think using me for your own gain is giving me kindness and salvation. Don't give me that bullshit. God abandoned me before I was even born." He said simply. "I'll likely be killed or tossed to the side as soon as you guys were finished with me anyway. There's no point." Just as he finished speaking, Mori felt the ground shake violently. It sent the pictures that hung from the walls onto the floor and the lamp fell over, the light smashing against the tiles. He made a noise as he stumbled, grabbing onto the chair for some sort of support. Was there an earthquake happening? Dark eyes glanced around for a moment before he went to the window, looking outside. Whatever was happening, it wasn't directly outside at least. Mori glanced at the angel briefly before he took off in a run out of the door. The studio was being trashed from all the vibrations and the woman at the counter was clinging to the desk desperately. She sent a worried glance toward her superior. "What's happening?" Her voice cried out, and all Mori could do was frown. This didn't feel normal. In fact, there was a rather dark, frightening feeling creeping up the back of his neck - and he knew the feeling all to well. "Earthquake. Get under the desk, alright?" Mori instructed before looking back at the angel again. "Do you feel it?" He asked in a softer, unsure of angels could feel demonic aura or not. Not waiting for an answer, the halfling rook off in another spring out the front of the studio and glanced down the street. He felt his whole body shudder at the sudden presence of pure demon. It made his heart begin to race and the pupils of his eyes once again dilated. "..This isn't a damn earthquake." He murmured, in case it wasn't obvious to the other man. Then all at once, Mori saw them. It was like a shadow overcoming the street but soon those shadows took shapes of the demons they really were. Humans likely saw it as a dust cloud rolling through from buildings crashing to the ground further in the city, but the halfling wasn't blessed with that kind of ignorance. "..We need to get out of here..." He said flatly, taking a step back but being caught off guard when a demon suddenly slammed into him. It sent the half breed flying backwards, his body smashing against a car.
