jo_suzaku
I will never know, Which way it will go. My heart skips a beat, If achieved, it will be an amazing feat. I see the ball rolling back from the net, I watch the goal keeper getting set. As I spot the ball to perfection, I sense the pressure and the expectation. A cold sweat runs down my spine, The lad dances nervously over the touchline. He does not know, Which way it will go. As the hair at the back of my neck starts to bristle, I finally hear the referee’s whistle. I take a deep breath and a perfect run up, There is no possibility that this will run amuck. I let my leg swing and watch the ball travel, Into the bottom corner and watch the scenes unravel. I still do not know, Which way it will go. Then, right on the money when it mattered the most, The ball touches his glove and deflects off the post. At that moment all I did was flinch, Because the margin here wasn’t even an inch! Chill air rushes up my spine, The lad dances, full of joy, this time. My heart misses a beat, I couldn’t achieve this feat. I will never ever know, Which way it will go. - Jo -
