Mankind has always been a dark race, basic instincts lead a person to be selfish, cruel, and greedy. Wars and bloodshed spread like wildfire, because of there simple, self-destructive behavior and mindset. A few centuries ago is when man kind truly began to show its nature. People were selfish, people became so selfish. Focusing on nothing more than money, power and authority, no one paid attention to what was going on in the world around them because they were all to focused on there own advancements. Mean while things like pollution, poverty, global warming, crimes, both minor and major, were going unchecked in the world. This chaotic way of life began to truly escalate in the beginning of the 2000's. Wars began to break out over countries because of the drain on the economy and resources and lack of moral in citizens, politicians, kings, princes, even citizens began to all fight over power while bodies began to pile up. The humans, as a society, where destroying themselves, and all that was around them. It became clear to those few who remained sane that something had to be done. So a secret society rose up, they were called, The Ravens. These men began to re instill order in the world, through treaties. Any man, no matter how powerful or there status, that threatened the balance that was slowly being created, were quickly, assassinated. The Ravens began to ensure peace and composure through fear, and that was fine, because it worked. Many years passed, and as humanity got a hold of itself and seemed to wake from it's wretched and dark slumber it had been in, the ravens faded away and became nothing more than a myth, used to scare children at night. However, some say that the Ravens did not disappear, and instead split up and divided. One man ruling, under cover, on each content. These men are known as Kings, the men that stand in the shadows and truly rule the government an society and keep peace. However, after a time these kings slowly began to go power hungry themselves, each one wanting to rule over more than just there content, but all the contents. So before it got out of hand, every single one of them were killed by there right hand men in a mass murders, occurring at the same time around the world. Seven deaths, and with these seven deaths, there came seven open positions. Now all those in the under ground are in the process of gathering together to vote in seven new kings.

"What are you playing at?" The words came softly, almost quietly, engulfing the room's silence in a single ring that continued to reverberate long after it was stated.

One clear eye blinked, crystal iris reflecting the luminescence of a large computer monitor, while it reflected a vague visage of the man sat in front of it. Shadowed features, stoic and blank, turned to regard the newcomer as automatic doors hissed closed.

"Do clarify. I'm afraid I do not follow." Raven locks shifted, revealing bandages that covered almost half of the male's face, pale features tilting to the side to give the other a lopsided yet still unreadable look.

"You were the heir. Why give the candidacy to someone else?" The man asked, tone betraying deep suspicion as if the youth in front of him were to blame for all the wrongness in their organization. Like it was an elaborate puzzle and Lost was somehow the piece that gave sense to everything else.

"Simply that I am not interested in taking leadership. So much responsibility." Amusement permeated the slow drawl that was the raven's reply, as if the other was but a child asking adult questions. "Besides, if I did, then I wouldn't have time to do my..... research, ne Jester-kun?"

Soft tinkles of metal against metal whispered against the nonexistent breeze, the dim glow of the monitor only illuminating half the visage of the man codenamed as 'Ruin', and showing nothing of the rest of the room. But the scent of chlorine and disinfectants... and medicines.. were almost overpowering to the point that it almost consumed... what, Jester did not know.

"The candidates and their entourage will be arriving this evening. The Commander said that you should be there too, since you're now his right hand man." And before the shadowed man could reply, he left.

He did know that beyond the glow, therein lies dozens and dozens of human corpses.

One day, Boy, That sharp tongue is going to cost you.....everything.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Steps echo'ed through the alley way, seemingly bouncing off the narrow walls and reverberating through the air. Sirens could be heard, as could a car horn or two, a few dogs barking to the moon, scratched against a wall which likely came from some stray cat some where not to far away, the harsh whip of the wind as gusts of it whipped around, hinting at the possibility of an oncoming storm. All of these were the loud, and yet somehow so soft and natural, sounds of the city. Two men made there way down the alley, the one on the left was brown haired and brown eyed, and held a gun up, ready to shoot. While the one of the right was blonde haired and blue eyed, and walked with his hands in his pockets, remaining unarmed, and this one, was Elliot.

"We now, we are here to investigate some simple graphite, do you really think that you need to have your pistol ready to aim this entire time?" The blue eyed male spoke, a smile of amusement and slight annoyance playing across his lips as he continued to walk. The man to his right simply grunted in annoyance and slid the gun into it's holder on his belt.

"Kid, we live in a dangerous city, in a dangerous time. I like living, if I had it my way, I would walk around with this thing ready and aimed at all times. Life and people are to unpredictable to go around taking any chances." The man retorted, before coming to a stop at the end of the alley, both men were silent as they gazed up at the wall, the words that were spray painted on it in a scattered form were seen by a pedestrian and called in for suspicion. Elliots eyes widened slightly as he took a step forward and reached out to touch the wall, his smooth, pale fingers rubbing slightly over the harsh, crumbling brick, almost in a form of admiration at what was written there. A small smile spread over Elliots lips, as his eyes seemed to glimmer in amusement, before he spoke.

"Yes, the world is dangerous, and full of unpredictable people and events, however..." He trailed over, stepping back slightly so he could better admire the words sprayed onto the old, decaying brick, almost omniously, the worlds flashing across his eyes as he read them.

A King Will Rise

"Maybe, my friend, it is that exact aspect of uncertainty and the constant gamble for ones life, that makes life so..entertaining." Thunder from the oncoming clouds sounded as lightening illuminated the alley, some how, perfectly fitting for the entire foreshadowing scene.

White: it pervaded almost everything, swallowing the smaller dots of colors that littered marble floor and walls of the old castle's great hall. Massive pillars, made of the same marble, towered across the room in four neat lines from corner to corner, stretching almost 70 feet high, giving the impression that the place had been built for giants. Grand, floor-to-ceiling windows lined the outside walls, each gleaming with a thousand colored-glass, creating one singular design; a gold raven with outstretched wings surrounded by a kaleidoscope of randomized color. Large and thick burgundy curtains draped on the sides of each window, blocking out enough sunlight so that it only passed through the raven outline, giving the room a surreal golden glow as if the metal itself had been turned to light. A lush, blood-red carpet dominated most of the floor, only leaving a rectangular stripe of space near each corner that barely outlined priceless treasures sat atop showcase pedestals and covered by delicate glass. And at the very end of the hall, where a raised platform is, sat a long horizontal table with seven tall chairs, of dark oak and intricate carvings; each a different style from the other.

A thunder of a thousand footsteps echoed against thick gleaming walls, reverberating and bouncing from one side to the other until it rang like a tower bell, powerful in its intensity and widespread as if the castle itself was humming it's welcome to the countless men and women that have arrived, hailing from the very corners of the world. So with a massive boom of the great hall's titanic doors, came the flood of uncountable body, strictly disciplined to the very last, and immediately filling up the emptiness, swallowing the white and replacing it with the trademark red and black that was The Raven uniform and insignia.

Fourteen heads strode forward, stopping just in front of the seven chairs before turning around and regarding the rest. And with a mighty roar, the body cheered for the heirs to the seven thrones have finally been gathered.

Crystal eye took on with disdain at the raucous cheers exploding from beneath the small balcony that overlooked the entire great hall. Such annoyance they were, making grand presentations as if the world itself was watching rather than small people that already knew them, feared them even.

Lost did not understand the necessity for such extravagance of recognition, why the candidates needed to bring their entire force to the votation when only the higher ranked were allowed to even be in the event itself. He found them all irritating, like one might find a fly that constantly invaded their senses. But still, he supposed, that that irritation was worth having if it meant that he'll have more subjects to work on to further his research. He smiled, a small lift to the edges of thin lips.

Oh, yes. It would certainly be worth it.

"We have intruders near the perimeter of the castle grounds." Came the murmured report from the black communication piece snugly pinned against the neckline of Lost's dark yukata.

The small smile widened. "Kill one, capture the other."

And with a soft flutter of silken material, Lost faded within the darkness that was the castle's interior.
