Sei took a deep breath, why was he nervous? He was just going to sit next to the other male. With the possibility of cuddling. Deciding that he should stop being over dramatic, he walked over towards Sora, sitting down next to him with some personal space.

 

"Did you have any ideas? Or a time we should meet up?" The male asked, his body rigid and his eyes trained on the t.v screen. He wanted to know time wise so he can be able to not only finish the project, but finish work from school as well.

About one week later.

 

The two turned in their project proposal on creating a hybrid plant that have human characteristics to them and a minor emphasis on injecting plant tissues into humans for mimicking plant characteristics from DNA extraction/manipulation.

 

"It looks like we can't go back now, huh Sei? I just hope that we could actually do something. Like I feel like this is gonna get hard," laughed Sora awkwardly. "So it looks like tomorrow is when we start, so let's meet up in the lab at noon tomorrow and we will start from there? You can certainly head there before noon, I have things to take care of something first, so I'll be a little late."

Sei nodded in agreement. "It probably will get hard." He said, his words slightly slurred together. It's been a busy week for him and he knows for a fact that it'll only get worse. Heshould probably invest in some energy drinks. The male looked over at Sora when he said that he had to take care of things. His face showing how curious he was but he refrained from asking. Instead, shrugging it off like it was nothing. "Sure, that's fine."

Sei let out a loud yawn, rubbing at his face in exhaustion. He should really invest in some energy drinks.

Before he passes out one day and go into a sleep induced coma.

Well, I guess I'll just sleep as much as I could. When I see Sei tomorrow, I'll try my best to win him over.

 

The last image Sora saw in his head was Sei nodding in agreement to, "It probably will get hard."

 

When morning came, Sora had to run an errand for Andrew. He got to the lab a little after the promised time and when he got there Sei had already started.

 

"Crap, I hope I didn't missed anything," sighed Sora in exhaustion as he looks at Sei.

To say Sei was pissed, was an understatement. He was practically fuming while he did the work. The younger male did say he was going to be late. But this late? Muttering darkly to himself, the male continued to work. Even as Sora walked in.

 

"It's fine..," he mumbled, keeping his back towards the other. Carefully picking up the vial of human DNA. "You did say you would be late."

 

Sei looked over at the other male, his expression slightly sour. "Well? Are you gonna help or not?" He snapped impatiently. Last night was the worst for him. Oh, he did sleep. But wasn't expecting such terrible dreams and waking up every hour.

By the looks of things, it does look like Sei was fuming about being late. Sora looked on at Sei while slowly approaching him. He went over to the lab coat rack and grabbed a white lab coat and headed to the lab station with goggles on his head and says, "I'm sorry about being late, something came up and I wasn't able to leave. I'm really sorry."

 

Sora turned around and looked at the other, his hands were up against his head. "You know, my brother introduced me to one of his female colleagues and asked that we go on a date." Awkwardly laughing. "It's not like I could say no to her."

 

"I assure you that this wouldn't interfere with our experiment," said Sora as he reached over to grab one of the test tubes. He then knocks over the beaker full of hydrochloric acid over Sei's work station and then knocking the vial of human DNA onto the spill.

Sei knew for a fact that he couldn't stay mad at Sora. But hearing him go on a date made him feelpossessive over the younger male."is that so." He mumbled, stopping his work.

 

Letting out a exhausted huff, Sei spoke. "It's okay Sora, really." Before he could go into more detail, the other male spilled an acid over his work station. The male looked inhorror as the acid dissolved his work.

 

He opened and closed his mouth but no words would escape his lips. After a moment, his face filled with horror soon turned into uncontrollable anger. Sei looked over at Sora, glaring daggers at him. "How the hell did you-!?" Before he could say anything harmful, he stomped out of the lab. Slamming the door behind him, so hard that it was surprising that it didn't break

Before Sora could explain anything the other male stormed out of the lab. "Oh man, I screwed up big time." "Hum, hum, what am I supposed to do next? How do you clean up HCl? Oh yeah you need to neutralize it. Shit, what is that again?"

 

Letting out a long sigh, Sora runs out of the lab looking for Sei. "Hum, I'm so sorry. I wasn't sure how to handle it, since I came late and I knew that you were mad, which made me even more nervous and then poof, my mind went blank for a second. Please forgive me?"

 

He opened the door back to the lab, "Please help me neutralize it before it burns a hole on the table." Sora looked at Sei, who was calm and collected, and Sora blushed. "How am I supposed to say no to the date? I knew you would get flustered if I told you, because I could tell by looking at your face. Tell me the truth, how do you feel about me?"

Sei rubbed at his face, sighing heavily before speaking. "Yeah, I forgive you." He said, even though he knows for a fact that he could never stay mad at Sora.

 

But before he could walk back into the lab, the younger male's words stopped him. As calmly as he could, he looked back over at Sora. "How do I feel about you?" he repeated, having an internal panic. How DID he feel about the other? Up until now he thought he was straight.....somewhat.

 

His face turned a soft pink color, his lips turning into a frown. "Tch, I don't know what you're talking about." He said, walking back into the lab to clean up the mess the younger male made. His made filled with confusing thoughts.

"It's okay, I don't expect you to know now. I just wanted to get this off my chest or I'll regret it. I'm gay and I've been gay all of my life, my brother knows about it, but he doesn't condone my sexuality. So, he thought it would be a good idea to set me up with one of his friends. I'll have to admit it. She's pretty cute." Sora then looks up at the older male, "It's because I already fell in love with you when I first set my eyes on you." Pause. "I also wanted to add that, I wasn't sure of your sexuality at first. So, I had to test you when we were at my brother's place. It was after that, that I realized maybe you had...even a inkling of feelings for me then I wouldn't regret going out with the girl. Since you're not sure, I'll give you time to think about it. I'm actually meeting up with her tomorrow, do you want to join us?"

The male was even more confused when he heard this new set of information. His heart fluttering when Sora said he already fell in love with him. Sei didn't know what was what anymore. He always thought he was straight despite his lack of dating. But then this undergraduate comes and he doesn't know if this reality.

 

Hearing that Sora was going on another date with that girl, he immediately answered. "Yes." The idea of someone touching the younger male made him fume with anger. Complete, confusing, uncontrollable rage. "I'll go with you on your...'date'." Sei didn't comment on the other already knowing his feelings before him. Despite it irritating him, he does need to think long and hard on this.

 

"God, my world has been turned upside down. It's like I'm in an alternate reality or something." He thought to himself.

The younger male looked up at Sei, who was obviously red in the face and chuckled lightly. "It looks like he does like me, but doesn't know how to admit or come to terms with it. I guess, I'll just show him that love doesn't have one definite form."

 

"Hey, let's head back to the lab and clean up. We don't want Professor Page coming in and seeing the mess I've caused. That would be bad." The two head back in and the younger male had a worried look on his face for some reason. "Oh man, I just hope I don't screw up anymore or else I'm gonna look like a big moron."

Sei's face grew from a faint pink color to a blazind red when the other chuckled. The male nodded and headed towards the lab with him. He really doesn't want to get on Professor Page's bad side. The last person who did was never heard from again. Oh, he's not dead, just transferred schools. To another country.

 

He stayed silent on their walk, mostly deep in thought and not wanting to say anything. Since he doesn't know what to say without it sounding like it has a double meaning.

Sei started to clean up the mess the other male made. Trying his.best to ignore every outside noise, every thought that came to mind. Was it working? Not as much as he wanted.

 

The.blush on his face still lingering. After a while, he stopped what he was doing to let out a loud huff of frustration. God, his thoughts won't shut up. "I'll...be right back." He said, walking out of the room and down the hall. As soon as he turned the corner he slumped up against a nearby wall.

"I hope he's not getting nervous by my confession here? I mean, I just don't like to beat around the bush and sometimes saying things like this pushes our relationship along. I've learn from the past, that if you want something, then you go for it," sighed Sora as he walks over grabbing the broom and dustpan. "Yeah, I'm probably gonna screw up even more than he does. I lost my composure and knocked over the HCl, like an idiot I left it and didn't even neutralized it. I just hope I could handle my composure after we actually get started. If I don't than everything I've done up until now has been for naught."

After a few minutes of composing himself, Sei walked back to the lab slowly. His head kept down as his hands stayed in his pocket.

'Maybe I should calm down. I'm treating this like it's the end of the world.' The male thought to himself, going back into the room with a sigh. Helping the younger male clean up the mess.

"Here, let me help." He muttered.

"Here let me help you," said the younger male, "Don't force yourself, it is all my fault as well. Well, what should we do about your vial of DNA? Did you get far in the experiment? I'll get started with extracting plant DNA after this. Do you need help? I feel like I messed up big time, by spilling acid, but hey, it was partially your fault for having acid out in the first place," said Sora laughing.

"Well, yes and no. The human DNA and the plant extract wasn't doing anything at first. But then they started to move together. " Sei, then frowned. "But they weren't coming together as one. They were still two separate things." The male stretched, letting out a satisfied groan when his bones popped. "The vial of DNA I can always get. And it's not my fault for leaving it out...," he trailed off, pouting slightly. "I was doing something else on the side. That's all."

"I was just joking with you." Sora then looks up, "You do know that combining human and plant DNA, isn't easy. We need to separate the double helix and nitrogenous bases, along with their hydrogen bonds. I wonder if we could somehow create a synthetic....ahhh, never mind. My mind is trailing off again." Sora looking back up at the older male, "Say what were you doing with the hydrochloric acid anyways? Were you trying to test what would happen to....ahhh, never mind. But, it's dangerous to leave it out without properly closing the lid. I should know, because I'm a klutz who knocked it over. What if it got on your clothes....skin?"

The male sighed but still smiled softly to himself. Humming as a response. "I know that. I just wondered if I could do so while they were already together." Sei looked over at the other male. "Ahh...no reason. Just...it just so happened to be there." He said, trying to play it off. But failing miserably. He then shrugged. "If so then it just happens and I'd learn a valuable lesson about." Considering his current state of health, he can't really take care of himself all that well. Since he had 3rd degree burns before when he was younger. It was just a project.....with bombs. And acid....but a project no less. Sei looked at the clock, seeing how their time is almost over. "We should hurry. I don't want to come in tomorrow knowing that there was no progress."

The older male singsong his way out of answering the question. "Guess, it couldn't be helped." Shuttering to reply. "I think that it would be for the best of we make a clear cut line of who does what. Take for example, you're a botanist, right? Then, how about your focus on plant DNA? Since I have a background in biology and a little in botany, than I'll focus on human DNA. Then, we could do a joint project on combining them? That way, I wouldn't interfere with your station and you wouldn't with mine."

 

Then, the phone rang and it was coming from the Sora's breast pocket. "Who could that be," questioned Sora as he looks down. "Sheeeet. I need to step out and take this call." The older male looked up and nodded an okay. "I wonder what Andrew want at this time of hour?"

Sei nodded his head, the other's suggestion making a lot more sense then what he tried to do early. "Sounds good to me." He said, shrugging his shoulders. When Sora left to go take a call, the male let a soft sigh fall past his lips. This is going to be the longest project he has ever done.

And it's not because of the experiment. Sei walked over towards the plant extract, thankful that it was still intake some how. Picking the vial up, he went over to what he now claims as his station. Deep in thought about what he should do to see if this DNA would work best for their project.

Andrew wants me to go home now? I wonder what that could be? Well, I guess before I go, I'll get started with my part of the experiment. I'll extract my cheek cells from my saliva and add it to saline solution, and I'll extract my DNA tomorrow.
