He ends up finding the boy a year later completely drugged and used. In fact the boy was drugged to the point of being numb and high. It was cold out when Kazuki left his apartment that morning. He had a cup of coffee in his hand and his bag in the other as he raced towards the bus stop and just barely made it on time. Panting, he slid his car through the slide and sat down to finally drink some of his coffee. He smiled though the entire time this happened. Looking out the window, Kazuki was happy to see the beautiful winter wonderland outside as he fixed his scarf around his neck and stood up once they were at the daycare center he worked at.

 

He wore a grey turtle neck with a long creme colored jacket over it, so he was pretty warm as he walked off the bus and towards the door when he saw students already walking inside. Walking quickly inside, he welcomed students on his way in, hugging and ruffling a few hairs as he ushered them in and to had them sit out on the carpet while he got ready.

 

Removing his coat and scarf, Kazuki finished the rest of his coffee before slipping on a winter themed apron and the classroom shoes as he removed his own.

 

Walking out, he smiled at his class of toddlers. "Alright everyone! Gather around!" and his fun and eventful day began with a reading session followed by games. Then there was snack time and bathroom monitoring. After bathroom monitoring he had them take a nap before they were learning their alphabets and numbers. When parents began coming in, he and the daycare owner said goodbye to the students for the last time as winter break has come. Kazuki sighed, a little upset that the winter break came, but he knew he would see the students again soon.

 

Saying goodbye to the kind older lady, Kazuki put on his coat and scarf after removing the apron, then his shoes. Walking to the bus stop, Kazuki decided to head home first to grab his bathroom items for the bathhouses. Walking inside, he grabbed his warm pajamas and folded them into his tote bag, followed by soap, shampoo, and other things he would need. He then placed warm socks and house shoes into the bag before grabbing the money he needed for the bath and walking over. It was only two blocks from his apartment which made it convenient since his bathtub didn't work due to a plumbing problem which for some reason only effected the tub. He didn't mind it though, they had an attendant there that was pretty good-looking; though he was far too shy to really say anything more than "Hello" and "Good-bye".

 

Taking in a deep breath, Kazuki walked into the bathhouse and stepped up to the front desk as he set the money on the counter. "Hello. Just one." he said, looking up at the man and giving him a nice smile as he waited for a locker key. "Uhm....i-it's supposed to snow tonight..." he said, playing with the strap on his tote as he waited there.

Riku loves the cold weather. Whether it's snowing heavily or just feel the cool breeze hitting his face, he appreciates it all. The young man is in his faded olive green fitting jeans that goes well with his grey sweater with a slightly chipping-off rubber print of Astro Boy on the chest. The 26 year-old ash blonde wrapped a wool scarf around his neck loosely as he grabbed his sling bag and head off to work. His boots thumped hard and deep against the bed of snow around his house as he carefully, but hurriedly went out to the nearby bathhouse where he works as an attendant and receptionist.

 

He wasn't expecting a lot of customers at this time of the season since it's rather cold, but some do come because the ice sometimes freeze the resident's pipes and their probably old heaters can't work. The owner is an old man who had probably experienced those and decided to make a business out of it. Riku was a fresh graduate when he applied for this job and he wasn't really picky over his first job so he took it. That and he thinks working at a public bathhouse is a chill kind of job. Doesn't require much work. All he needed to do was welcome customers, put their names on a log book, get their money and give them keys to their lockers. And a few cleaning here and there to help their cleaning man.

 

Riku was thirty minutes early for his shift. Leaving his snow and dirt-dusted boots under the reception desk, he changed into the provided slip on foot cover and removed his scarf, hanging it inside a small closet that is behind the reception desk. He looked around in worry but then grinned upon seeing what he's looking for. Mao. The bathhouse has a 'resident cat' where people are fond of petting whenever they see him. The fat, orange and white tabby approached Riku, meowing deeply at him. But it was actually a "mao" rather than a "meow" hence his name.

 

"Good morning Mao. I brought you food." he said gently before picking the cat up, grunting from its weight before putting him up the counter. He pulled out a container consisting of left over food from last night- rice and some potatoes and veggies. It seems like Riku is the one responsible for Mao's weight.

 

He was reading a book when the second customer arrived. Ah. The blonde guy with beautiful eyes. He put down his book before greeting him in a soft voice. Finally, an actual spoken greeting. "Welcome." but it sounded more of a mumble than a pleased greeting. He took the money and in exchange, he slid the key with the bathhouse's key chain attached to it across the wooden surface of the desk. And he gave something else. A sachet of lavender scented bath gel. "It's for free." he said, quickly giving the young man a glance before taking it back. He looked out of the window and hummed, nodding in agreement. He badly wanted to see snow today, really. It was just a shame it didn't.

 

"Maybe tonight." he said shortly. It was only then that he had spoken to a customer; a conversation which he had never engage himself to. Some people even mistake him as mute since he rarely talks to people. They're all strangers to him, after all.

Kazuki looked up and nodded when he was welcomed before taking the key chain. When a sachet of lavender bath gel was given to him, he smiled and bowed his head again."Thank you." he said, sniffing it a bit before slipping it into his tote. "I...like lavender so this is nice." He looked out the window then, wondering if it would really snow that night.

 

 

"Maybe...hopefully.." he sighed, and then smiled as he bowed once more. "Thank you for the lavender." he said for the last time before walking towards the baths.

 

 

Opening a locker, Kazuki began to undress slowly as he folded his clothes and removed a towel. He set his clothes into the tote beneath his pajamas before setting it inside his locker and locking it. Grabbing his soap bucket and tying the towel around his waste, Kazuki went into the men's section. Going towards the shower stall, Kazuki sat on a wooden bench and began shampooing his hair with lavender scented shampoo. Rinsing his hair, Kazuki hummed to himself while walking towards the baths.

 

 

Soaking in the water, he smiled at the warmth that enveloped him as he rest his head against his towel that he folded behind his head. "It's so nice here." he hummed, taking a book that was in a plastic bag and opened it up to read where he left off. It was a book on childcare and was filled with tips and ideas on raising children and how to raise them best.

 

 

After about thirty minutes of sitting in there, Kazuki decided it was time he got out. Standing up, he got a little light-headed before shaking it off and leaving the baths.

 

 

Drying himself off slowly, Kazuki stood up to put on his pajamas but got dizzy once again and lost his balance as he fell to the side. His body was too hot from soaking in the hot baths for too long. It wasn't the firs time this has happened though.

Riku was enjoying the silence of the shop as he stroked the orange and white fur of the fat cat that was sitting still on the counter while reading his book. The only sound that filled the reception area was the flipping of the book's page and the silent purr of the cat. He kept on checking the clock, as if watching out for something.

 

It's been half an hour. He pursed his lips as he peeked at the gap of the sliding screen that lead to the men's locker rooms, seeing the young male with the beautiful eyes hasn't come out yet. It slightly worried him because last time it was also like that. The male with the pretty eyes always, always stay in the bath for exactly thirty minutes. Any more than that, he'd find him fainted on the floor. It was past ten minutes after his estimated time. Riku clicked his tongue and put down his book before locking the cash drawer. He grabbed a towel and headed straight at the baths.

 

"I knew it." he whispered to himself upon seeing Kazuki sitting on the warm stone floor. "Hey... Can you hear me?" he whispered, shaking the boy gently by the shoulder. The young boy's pale body was hot. He sighed in disbelief as he wrapped his towel around Kazuki's body and picked him up by his arms, carefully bringing him to the male's locker room.

 

Carefully, he laid the young male down the padded bench, putting another folded towel under the boy's head for support. He then rushed to get another smaller towel and wetted it with cold water before patting it over Kazuki's forehead, down to his neck and chest. His gaze went down and thought the younger male's skin was remarkably smooth and soft.

Kazuki opened his eyes a bit as he was shook, too weak to really say anything as he was wrapped in a towel and placed on a bench. He relaxed as his forehead was wet with something cold, bringing his temperature down. Blinking past the dizziness, Kazuki smiled as he looked at Riku. "Hey....uhm...thanks for this...again." he said, chuckling nervously.

 

"I got too into my book once again it seems." he laughed, sitting up slowly as he took the folded towel from Riku and dipped it into the cold water before suckling on it. "That's so much better." he sighed, looking up at the other. "You saved me again." he chuckled nervously. "Uhm...can I interest you in a beer....or apple cider?" he asked. Smiling he finally stood up.

 

"That cat by the way, I think it likes you." he hummed, opening his locker that happened to be by the bench and removed the towel. He slipped on his pajama pants and sweater before slipping into his house shoes with some socks. Gathering his things, he slipped a jacket and scarf on as he looked at the other.

 

"Ah, the beer and apple cider, it's at my apartment. Would that be okay?" he asked, not even sure if the other would want to take him up on his offer of thanks. "It's really no trouble I assure you!" he said quickly.

Riku watched as the other wake and sit up. He sighed in relief thinking that the other feels fine now. "I'm glad you're okay" he said. "you really shouldn't overstay at the hot baths, you know." He wasn't too watchful of the other customers; only to Kazuki and he doesn't even know why. He watched as the other suckle on the wet towel that he find quite odd, but never made a comment.

 

When the cat approached him once more, he smiled and nodded at the stranger. "Yes, indeed. I give him food every time my shift starts here." he said, kneeling down giving the cat a pet before it scrammed away. "His name is Mao. He's a good cat." he said, smiling up only to avert his eyes back when Kazuki started changing.

 

He was slightly startled when he was being invited for a drink. It's not hat he's not interested, but Riku's shift hasn't ended just yet and the other receptionist still hasn't arrived yet. Riku scratched the back of his head. "Uhm. Sure. But my shift hasn't ended yet. Maybe if we could wait for a while?" he said.

 

Just as he said it, the door chimed and a loud voice was heard at the front door. "Riku? Where are you?" Riku turned his head and smiled a bit, seeing that it was OK to go. "He's here. Want to wait for me outside as I pack my bag?" he said, smiling gently at the younger male. He was glad to make a new friend and how lucky he is that Kazuto is a really good-looking young man.

Kazuki smiled at the others concern, "I know, but I got caught up in the book again." he chuckled, smiling once against at Riku.

 

"No wonder he seems so comfortable with you. Ah, he's shy!" he laughed. "Mao, what a fitting name for such a cat." he hummed, finishing up with getting dressed he looked at the other. "Ah, I don't mind waiting! It's just me at the apartment anyway." he said, though his voice seemed to soften towards the end of his words.

 

 

He heard the door chime, and smiled when he heard someone calling for the other and figured it had to be the receptionist. "Ah, sure! I-I'll be outside then!" he said quickly, blushing a little as he returned the smile and grabbed his things as he went outside to wait. He had his coat back on with his scarf as he waited patiently, a warm smile spread out on his face.

 

He finally had worked up the courage to offer the other a drink. Which also meant it wouldn't be another lonely night at the apartment this time, no, this time he had company. He wondered if the male would take interest in his little collection of paper weights. More importantly though, Kazuki had finally been able to hold a conversation with the male and ask him to hang out instead of the small talk that had usually come up whenever he would collapse.

Riku smiled at the other male who had just arrived, all excited to pack his things and end his shift.

 

"Going out early, eh?" The young male asked.

 

Riku nodded and smiled a bit.

 

"Yes." He simply said.

 

The male gestured his fingers for Riku to lean in closer.

 

"I really think your friend is cute. Are you two going out or something?" He gave Riku a playful grin. Riku backed away a bit with a blush.

 

"No, we're not. He frequents here and he just invited me for a drink in his place..."

 

For a moment Riku thought the young male is indeed interested in him given the fact that he was invited in his place for a drink. It made his chest flutter a bit but he tried to ignore it. He must not assume things just yet. Although he thought the male is indeed cute and very attractive. He honestly wouldn't mind.

 

Dismissing himself, he rushed out to meet the male that was waiting for him outside.

 

"Sorry to keep you waiting. Let's go?" He said softly with a gentle smile.

 

The two walked side by side on the cold snowy ground. Riku was a little quiet as he was wondering what to talk about while not sounding lame. He clutched on the strap of his bag.

 

"So, where do you live, uhm..." He asked, clearing his throat as he did, wondering if he had ever asked for the other's name as well.

Kazuki watched the cold air he breathed out, keeping his face coverd in the scarf until the other walked out.

 

Smiling, he shook his head and nodded. "It's okay, I don't mind waiting. I live just down this street at the apartment complex? Our pipes are frozen so most of the residents decided to go to this hot spring that has become popular lately. I prefer the bathhouse though, it's warm when I get out and there are hardly any crowds to worry about." he chuckled.

 

"AH, my name is Kazuki! I never introduced myself....sorry about that...uhm..." he then blushed and laughed.

 

"I suppose we never introduced ourselves then. How silly right?" he laughed, holding his stomach from laughing before composing himself.

 

"I heard the forcasters say that it's supposed to snow pretty heavy later tonight...if....if you'd like you can spend the night. I uhm..... I have spare room and a futon you can use." he said, eyes never leaving the male.

 

He gripped his tote bag closer nervously, unsure if the male would take his bold offer.

Riku smiled as he watched the other male introduce himself. And that laugh. He felt a light flutter inside his stomach upon seeing and hearing the other male laugh like that. Carefree and genuine.

 

"My name is Riku Mikami. Nice to finally be able to know your name, Kazuki." he smiled gently.

 

He did not avert his eyes from Kazuki as well. After all, the young male looks just too beautiful to take his eyes away from him. When he heard him talk about the weather going bad by the evening, Riku nodded.

 

"Yeah, I think it's best if I stay there for the night. After all, it would be a little weird if I leave too early." he said, rubbing the back of his neck. "It's really nice to meet new people. I rarely..." he paused and tried to fetch the right words. "...Rarely entertain people to become friends or the sort."

Kazuki smiled at the other's name, his cheeks lighting up as they finally introduced one another. "Riku..." he repeated, a chuckle leaving his lips as he continued to look at the male.

 

He was overjoyed inside that the weather was going to be bad, and was even happier when the other said he would stay the night. "I-it would be best. It is nice to meet new people.....or really meet people you see a lot but never speak to." he mumbled the last part. "Uhm, then does this mean we're...you know friends?" he offered, smiling at the male.

 

Kazuki looked up suddenly though as he pointed to the second story. "That's my floor." he said, taking out his keys and walking up the stairs as he led the male to his door and unlocked it quickly. Opening the door, he held it open for Mikami before closing it and going into the kitchen and grabbing a case of beer from the fridge. "Uhm, I only have plum beer though, is that okay?" The reason he asked this was because plum beer was a bit sweet than normal beers. "I think I have regular beer too though!" he chimed in quickly.

 

Setting his tote bag down, Kazuki grabbed some dried squid and cucumbers soaked in vinegar and sugar. Walking into the living room, he set the snacks on the table and the beer in the middle as he turned the heater on. He looked around his home for a moment, feeling shy as he looked at his paperweight collection that stood on shelves around the room. "Uhm....I collect paperweights...." he whispered, opening a can of the plum beer and offering the male one.

Riku smiled at the other's words. Yes, he knew he was too timid to talk to Kazuki before but it was only because the younger male looks really beautiful that somehow intimidated him. Looking down, he scratched his cheek lightly.

 

"Yeah... I think it'd be nice if we could be friends."

 

Once they're in front of the building, Riku quietly followed Kazuki until they entered the male's apartment. The first thing he thought was the place looks really neat and organized. Says a lot about the person living here.

 

His eyes wandered around when Kazuki left to get the snacks and the beer in the kitchen. He noticed the paperweight collection neatly aligned on the shelf and smiled to himself. He let himself sit on the couch and took his jacket off, smiling at Kazuki when he returned with the beers. He thanked the boy and took the plum beer before nodding.

 

"Thanks. And yeah, I noticed. They look really nice. Cats?" He pointed at one of the paperweights near them.

 

"You like cats, too?" He asked before taking a swig on his sweet drink.

Kazuki looked up at the paperweight collection he was so proud of with a smile when the other had noticed them. "Thank you, and yes cats." he chuckled. "I do, but my apartment doesn't allow animals so I resorted to collecting the paperweight kinds." he said, sipping on his own drink.

 

"Not only cats though, I like to collect turtles and flowers, too." he chuckled. "I like the smaller paperweights. They aren't too lavish like the bigger ones, and stand out just enough to catch your eye." he hummed.

 

"The best thing about this little hobby is it doesn't cost me a paycheck to keep up." he smiled, sipping some more before taking one of the dried squid legs from the plate and chewed on it.

 

"What made you want to work in the bath houses?" he asked curiously.

 

He wondered if it was a family bath house, or perhaps the other took it up simply for the pay. Did it pay good? He wondered all this as he listened to Riku for an answer to his question that may sound simply to explain, but to him there were thousands of answers available.

 

He had finally sat down, too, taking a seat beside the male on the couch as he enjoyed the others company.

Riku listened with all interest as the younger make talked about his hobby of collecting paperweights. He finds it cute, honestly speaking. The young man talks about them with such interest and passion.

 

As the day fell deeper and the sky turning from clear to mesmerizing amber and gray, so did the temperature drops down as the threat of heavy snow approaches the town.

 

The older male didn't realize he had finished two squids and his beer so he welcomed himself and reached for one more. He chugged almost half of it and sighed in relief. He knew he wasn't a heavy drinker but drinking this stuff sure make him relax more. It tastes good especially when you have someone nice as a company.

 

"I myself like cats." He said, his voice had stated to show signs of being tipsy. "Mao for instance... He's really cute and friendly but only towards me. He's shy whenever people are around." And then he downed his second can of beer. He sighed for a moment and dazed outside the window seeing the snow had began to fall.

 

"I like books, too. I... C-collect... Ha... Haruki Murakami's book." He said, pausing in between his sentence from hiccupping. He reached for his bag and fished the said book before showing it to Kazuki. "We should trade books sometime." He added with a small grin, his face had obviously took the shade of a cherry. Riku is officially drunk but still has a firm grasp of his sanity.

 

Reaching for the squid snack, he stuck it between his teeth before leaning his back against the backrest of the couch, relaxing some more.

 

"I worked at the bathhouse because I know the owner... and he offered me a nice pay. Since I'm not fit for a 9 to 5 kind of job, I took it once I... g-graduated college. Fine arts. Let's be...h-honesty. We all know there isn't much job opportunity from that course."

Kazuki smiled as he looked out the window of his apartment for a moment, finishing his first beer just as Riku was reaching for a second one. Chewing on some squid, Kazuki also took a second can of beer with a smile. "Mao is certainly friendly." he chuckled. Sipping his second beer, Kazuki leaned back as they talked.

 

"Ah! Me too! I really like reading good literature books." he smiled. "Haruki Murakami. I like their books, but I prefer collecting simple poetry stories and romance books." he hummed, cheeks a light shade of red as he smiled.

 

"Okay, I'll go get one of my own books to trade." he said, standing up and stumbling a little as he went to his book shelf in the corner of the room and taking out a romance novel he claimed as his favorite. Walking over to Riku, Kazuki sat abruptly close to him as he handed him the book. "Here~" he chuckled, leaning in a little closer as his cheeks reddened a little more as he sipped at his second beer till it was halfway finished.

 

"I see~the owner." he laughed, "Fine arts~? Like painting?" he asked, grinning. "Oh come oooon~I'm sure you just haven't....fou~nd the job for you yet~" he giggled. "Say, do all fine arts majo~rs look fine like you?" he blurted out, laughing more so as he leaned in close. "Cause you are one fine arti~st." he hummed, moving an arm around the other to hug him after he finished his second beer and had started on his third.

 

"Wanna practice your fine arts skills on me?" he cooed, really just teasing the other. "You could paint me right~?" he giggled. "Like, nude painting or just sti~ll art?" he asked, his words slurring out as he spoke while his eyes took on a drunken glaze.

Riku smiled, glad that the boy accepted his book. He only share his books to his good friends and Kazuki, he thinks, would be a really great friend...

 

Just a friend?

 

His thoughts slurred as his eyes were lost at the slight swaying of Kazuki's hips when he stepped away towards the bookshelf. He finds it... Enticing. Shifting himself on the couch for a bit, Kazuki came back and sat a little closer to him. He felt odd when the younger male leaned in close as he could take in Kazuki's sweet scent mixing with the plum beer they're having. He downed his second can and grabbed a third, pausing for a bit. He never thought plum beer could get him drunk faster than the ordinary ones. Or maybe his alcohol tolerance is just low.

 

He listened to Kazuki as he babbled to him about his college major and giggled when the boy said something like of a cheap pick-up line he had heard a million times before. It was funny, nonetheless, especially coming from a cute, slightly drunk blonde. And that hug... It must be just a small unintentional habit Kazuki have but it made Riku feel a little funny.

 

"Thanks. But not all, you know. Maaaybe I'm just lucky my genes are good." He chuckled, welcoming himself and leaning his head on the young man's shoulder.

 

"Wanna practice your fine arts skills on me? You could paint me right~?"

 

He rose a brow and looked up at the younger one in inquisition. This time, he knew.

 

"I paint or sketch. And yes, we did nudes before but I hardly remember the process now from lack of practice." He bit his lip finding the other simply adorable from his cooing. He brought his index finger up and stroked Kazuki's jawline sensually.

 

"I'd appreciate it if you'd help me get back in touch with my skills..." He smirked, eyes gazing down at the other's beautiful pair, his finger not leaving the younger male's chin.

 

"You have beautiful eyes... Kazuki..."

 

Riku's voice was deep with a hint of purr in it. He hadn't noticed how close they are sitting next to each other until now as his other arm's already around the back of the couch, his fingers playing on the tips of Kazuki's hair.

He kept his arms around the man's neck as they talked, eyes glazed with alcohol as he leaned his head onto the others shoulder. "Hmm you pain and ske~tch nudes~!
