For a moment Jacoby was sure he heard the sound of running water, like waves crashing against the beach, only to realize that was his own blood in his ears. It was quiet, too painfully quiet. He decided to open his eyes then, looking up and then around. The place was...unfamiliar. Looking to his left he was startled by an unfamiliar face looking back at him with an equally startled expression only to realize it was his reflection from a mirror. Feeling disconnected from his body Jacoby stood, swinging his legs over the bed he'd been occupying and walking over to the mirror. At first he'd thought it was a window into another room and that he had been some stranger. Actually, Jacoby's face hadn't been the only thing unfamiliar about himself. He tried to think, what was his favorite color? Was he close to his parents? Were did he grow up? What school did he go to? Did he finish high school, or college? All the questions Jacoby could ask himself had no answers he could come up with and slowly, with increasing horror, he realized he had no idea who he was and even his name felt strange and unfamiliar. His name was one of the few things he had to go on, but even then he felt little to no association with it. Realizing that he had to leave, find help or someone who could explain things to him he moved to leave, walking briskly to the door to the room. He was expecting a corridor on the other side and maybe a way out down that corridor, so he turned the knob and slipped out. The moment he was out of the room he looked left, then right. The hallway as dark and there was no clear indication which was was the way out. Dread crept up his spine as he felt as if he were being watched. Quickly, he went back into his room and closed the door. It was decided then that he should at least find something to defend himself with, or a light source. He looked around, under the bed, in the drawers and only managed to find a small, keychain flashlight. Feeling that was better than nothing he hurried back into the corridor and started walking right.
pantastic_panda
Devondri Storm: (Photo Edit made in Paint Tool SAI) Status: -FREE- Name: Devondri Storm Nickname: Vondri, Von, "Wild Child" Sex: Male Position: Undefined Race: African-American Years: 20 Birthday: April 1st Zodiac: Aries Occupation: Street Rat Height: 5ft 6in Weight: ??? Eyes: Honey Brown Hair: Dark brown with black and yellow for bangs; stops a little below his ears and tends to be messy. Biography: Devondri was given away by his mother shortly after he was born and raised in an orphanage. During his early life he enjoyed the company of those around him, but quickly became resentful and envious of those who were adopted before him. At age sixteen Devondri was finally adopted by a married couple in their late forties and moved into the city. Although they were his legal parents, they never showed the affection and understanding that parents were meant to do. This caused him to believe that they only took pity on him for being one of the older kids who weren't adopted at a younger, cuter age. His resentful behavior continued into his high school years, causing him to seek after school activities in the streets which earned him the nickname "Wild Child" among casual partners. (My brain can't seem to write much more at the moment…. To Be Continued in RP) Personality: Devondri can be selfish when it comes to pleasure and if he feels like you aren't doing a good job at pleasing him he won't hesitate to call you out on that. (Or flat out tell you how you could get better). He has a foul mouth and is quick to smile before having some form of emotional . He's also a tease, likes to argue and gets into fights if necessary. He sometimes has a hard time processing his emotions and this causes him to shut himself off from the world for any given period of time. Though, at the end of the day: arrogant, disrespectful, stubborn and unstable are the main factors of his personality. Likes: ※Casual fun / one night stands with older men. ※Having his way. ※Dubstep / Trap music ※Listening to music on his mp3 player. ※The feeling of warm blankets. Dislikes: ※The thought of being tied down in a relationship. (presently) ※Cute things and cute people. ※Overly happy or optimistic people. ※Needles and anything related to hospitals. ※When he becomes emotionally attached to people. Random information: ※He's an only child to the best of his knowledge. ※He has a history of one night stands. ※He wants to be faithful to one person in the future, but doesn't feel like he deserves it. ※He normally carries a small pocket knife and an mp3 player in his inner jacket pocket. ※His headphones tend to be Sony models. (He also tends to break them if he gets into a fight.) ※His favorite alcoholic drink is a Bloody Mary on the rocks. ※His favorite color is blue. ※His mostly listens to dubstep and trap music when he's upset about something. ※His weakness tends to be his own emotions. Primarily due to the fact that he doesn't really know how to act on them. ※Fun Fact: He's also a character from my MySpace Stone Age Days. The first sound Devondri registered was the weak groan that vibrated in his throat. The first feeling being the ache that pulsated against the back of his head, close to his neck. Pain and stiffness within his arms and shoulders wasn't entirely foreign and he didn't think to question why. Trying to move was enough to drag out a sudden "Shit" from his lips, eyes creaking open to look around. When the blurriness faded he realized that he on the floor with his back wedged between the intersection of two walls. Smears were caked on and bled through the cracked surface of the wall. The floor beneath him had black stains and appeared to be gritty to the touch, as if it had been collecting dirt and grime for years. On impulse he reached his hand into the left inner pocket of his coat, as if expecting an object of sorts to be there, only to find it empty. His head felt abnormally light, the fingers of both hands running through dark brown strands and eyebrows scrunching together with worry. Something was meant to be there, but what? Something was missing from his person and realizing that was starting to make him feel anxious. Whatever it was he had a feeling that he had to find it. Devondri exhaled slowly before gathering enough strength to get onto his feet, not bothering the wipe the grime off his clothes. From the corner where he stood he could either go to the left, or to the right. The flickering lights to the right made him feel uneasy and the left hall was more visible in terms of lighting. Taking a step caused his legs to buckle a bit under his weight and he stopped to lean his shoulder against the wall. "What the hell?" he murmured, feeling a little out of breath and coughing as staleness filled his senses. The scent made his skin prickle and he was convinced that he would have to find fresh air soon, that staying still for too long was not the safest option. After gathering another boost of strength he leaned away from the wall, but used his left hand for support as he slowly started to press on. sydney
The hallway Jacoby was walking down remained as foreboding as it had been when he had glanced out of the room earlier. The small, key chain flashlight only illuminated maybe five feet or so in front of him, which wasn't all that reassuring as he inched along, half expecting an axe wielding psychopath or some eldritch horror to spring out from the darkness at him. Caution was really all he had right then, since the miniature flashlight wouldn't serve as much of a weapon and Jacoby was otherwise unarmed. As he walked, he began acutely aware of the shoes he was wearing, the sneakers squeaked with each step as the damp floor clung to the rubber soles. Each time his steps made any noise he flinched, fearful that it might draw something or someone to his location. In addition to that, he slowly became aware of the glasses perched on his nose, more specifically, the crack running down the middle of one of the lenses. Deciding that as long as he could see at all it wasn't a major issue, he pressed on, paying the damage little mind. Finally, on top of all of that, the building - perhaps a hospital, Jacoby wasn't entirely sure - was quite drafty and Jacoby realized he wasn't wearing a jacket or anything over formerly pristine button top. Pausing, Jacoby listened to the sounds of the building, not hearing much outside of the sounds of a settling - or aging - building. There was the subtle dripping of water, maybe it was or had been raining outside, or maybe the place was just leaky to begin with, it was hard to be certain. There was also the sounds of metal groaning, as if there were old support beams steadily being worn down by the building. Itching to find answers, or some clue as to how he got here or who he was, Jacoby pushed open a nearby door, propping it open with his foot as he shone his light around. The room Jacoby entered looked like a standard medical examination room, confirming Jacoby's suspicions that this was some sort of hospital. He begrudgingly left the door, letting it slam shut behind him. The slamming startled Jacoby, who hadn't thought that particular action all the way through. Stopping to make sure legions of axe murderers or ghosts weren't coming, he waited. After a moment, regardless of what he may or may not have heard, he went about examining the room more closely. A part of him was hoping for anything, a bonesaw or syringe maybe, though something more substantial would have been great as well. Kneeling down to check under the bed, the sight of the edge of a photograph caught his eye. Reaching for it, mostly out of curiosity, Jacoby tugged it free from where it was wedged between floor boards. He flipped it over, observing the image presented and trying to make sense of it. Flipping it over, he found only a date and a name he did not recognize. Turning it back to the image he stared for a long moment, familiarity striking him even if he couldn't identify the woman staring back at the photographer from her gardening. Furrowing his brows, Jacoby turned to leave the room.
pantastic_panda
Devondri tried to distract himself, but the creaking sound of weakening metal continued to fill his thoughts. What if the roof collapsed? He began to realize that he wouldn't have the strength run further than a few feet, and yet the need to keep moving continued to breathe down his neck. As he moved he noticed the numbers aligning the doors. Each one increasing in numerical order and showing him that he was on the third floor of the building. Just how many floors are in this damn place? He thought he continued to guide himself with his hand against the wall. He started to become familiar with the growling sensation in his stomach. The way his insides mildly contorted, feeling the discomfort before the sound registered in his ears. When was the last time he had eaten? Then again, what was the last thing he had eaten? Reflecting on such things caused him to stop, leaning against the wall once more to catch his breath and take some weight off his leg. It never occurred to him just how he had hurt himself, but he would have to find something to wrap his ankle with. However far he had moved, the young male wasn't satisfied with the progress. The hall just didn't seem to end. Across from where he stood was a slightly propped door. Unlike the others - which mostly seemed to be locked - this one appeared to be new. A bright white door contrasting with the mess surrounding it. Perhaps he would find something to ease the ache in there? Deciding not to think twice about it, Devondri gathered his balance, gritting his teeth a bit as he limped over, slowly opening the door to enter. Being in the room made him feel cold and anxious, but he needed to rest on something that wasn't a wall. The bedsheets contained stains similar to the floors in the hallway. Dirty, yet seemingly comfortable in comparison. Cobwebs littered the corners of the ceilings, an undisturbed layer of dust lining the floor. Next to the bed was a silver bed tray on black wheels. On top of it were surgical instruments that appeared to be rusted and worn from use. Enough to make Devondri cringe a bit as he eased himself onto the bed. It was not as comfortable as he expected, but better than a hard surface. Enough to ease his muscles and help him realize how exhausted he had become. Blurry images filled his mind as his breathing started to slow, eyelids becoming heavy and closing. He could see small figures slowly moving around, though he couldn't make out genders, clothes or hairstyles. Kids, maybe? Everything was bathed in gray-scale. Edges distorted and layered as he tried to focus on what was going on. A slamming noise caused him to tense, breathing hitching, brown eyes now wide open as the visions began to fade. "Hello?" Devondri dragged out towards the end as he called. The throbbing in his chest slowed to an ease, slowly uncurling his fist after noticing that he had sat up on the bed. Seconds went by, the quiet taking over once more as he eased himself off the bed to limp towards the door. Devondri had intended on moving on in hopes of finding stares, but the thought of coming across another person was too tempting. Perhaps they would be able to explain what was going on, or, better yet, how they ended in this place. Once he made it towards the door he stopped to hold onto the door frame, easing the pain on his right leg. "H-Hey!" He called out one more, not taking the possibility of danger into consideration.
