"I will... I promise..." Arumi kissed his forehead. "Would you like me to give you some medicine that will make you fall asleep...? Then you won't have to worry about me... You'll just be asleep" He couldn't think of anything else that could possibly help Damian relax.

Damian nodded desperately, pulling back to look at the dragon. "Yeah... I... I'd like that." He said, reaching over to squeeze Arumi's hand. Thinking that Kio had left wasn't enough. Damian wanted to be sure of that. He didn't say anything, however. He huddled on the bed, being careful not to hurt his arm as he laid down on a pillow, pulling a blanket over himself. Reaching up, the man rubbed at his eye slightly, quietly waiting for the dragon to come back with the herbs. "Will you lay with me until I fall asleep?"

"Of course I will" Arumi mixed the herbs with water and heated it with his breath to make a medicinal tea. "I'll be here when you fall asleep, and then again when you wake up" He brought the tea over and sat down next to the man, offering the cup to him. "Here, drink this"

Damian let out a shaky sigh, quietly accepting the cup. He took it with both hands, slowly drinking the mixture. Almost immediately he could feel himself getting a bit drowsy. He set the cup away and leaned against Arumi, using his chest as a pillow for his head. He closed his eyes, not fighting back against the medicine which didn't take long at all to put him to sleep. The dosage was most likely enough to knock him out for several hours.

Arumi gently stroked the man's hair until he fell asleep. Once he was completely sure that Damian was asleep, Arumi slipped out of bed and changed to his dragon form. He gathered some herbs that he needed and left the room, locking the door behind himself.

 

After about three hours later he returned, changed back to his human form, and sat down next to Damian. His chest felt tight as he thought about his actions. Damian's gaze saddened at the sight. Moving closer, he wrapped his arms gently around the dragon, pulling him a bit closer. "It's okay. It'll be fine." He muttered softly, slowly running his fingers through Arumi's hair, ignoring the pain in his upper arm. He rushed Arumi into this... But it was the only way for them to be together safely. "You did what you had to do." Damian added quietly, leaning close to press a soft kiss to the top of his head.

"I know..." Arumi slowly leaned into the man's chest. "I just..." He gently hugged Damian, pressing his face into his shoulder. "they weren't all like him... It would have been so much easier if they were all horrible people like him. But they aren't..." Arumi had only been somewhat close to one of his brothers, but most of them were practically strangers.

Damian let the dragon lean close to him, slowly running his fingers through his hair in an attempt of calming him down. "Life will get better without them. You'll be a king... You'll be able to set the rules. Everyone will be happier with you as the ruler." Damian spoke soothingly, without realizing how dark his words were. He only cared about himself being safe and with Arumi. The man was ready to sacrifice others for their own happiness. He wanted Arumi to love him, only him.

"I know..." Arumi leaned up and gently kissed the man. He wanted to be reminded of why he had done this and at the same time forget reality. "Damian..." He nuzzled into the other's neck, breathing in his scent. "I'll protect you from everyone... For as long as you live."
