'From the Gods, Down to Man: Belief is the Key, Faith Will Set You Free'

It was, indeed, one of the nicest days, that one could have ever experienced. The weather was perfect, not too hot, not too cold. The sun was out, there was delicate breeze making it's way around the area. The sky up above was a clear blue, the only clouds that could be seen were white and fluffy, not a dark spot to be seen anywhere. But unfortunately, for some, those days could not be enjoyed to the fullest. Students, and those who worked, were stuck inside. But, there were some who were a bit more...let's say...blessed by the gods, to have the 'lucky fortune' to be able to savor this fine day.

A small hill, on the outskirts of downtown Tokyo, more out in the country area really, could be found. A long staircase, topped by a rather faded looking Torii, led to a small shrine. This particular hill was shrouded with trees and other shrubbery. The shrine on this hill was old and worn, and it seemed as if no one even came there any more, and yet, everything seemed to be in order. It was clean, but very old. Despite that fact, it was a peaceful place, and unnervingly quiet, as if some unearthly presence shooed away all whispers of any sound at all.

But if one looked enough, strained their eyes, they could make out, on top of the roof of the main Honden, a figure could be seen, laying out on the tiles, enjoying the rays of sun that reached where they were relaxing. Their arms placed behind their heads, and, from the look of it, they were fast asleep. But recently, it wasn't unusual, to the residents of the area, for this particular person to go up those stairs everyday, and disappear into the shrine for the whole day, and sometimes not even leave until many days have passed. It was just a thing that they had gotten used to.

A soft sigh escapes his lips, and he smiles in his sleep. The young man was quite enchanting to look at, with perfect skin, strange tiger like markings, and beautiful hair, of both ebony black and silvery white. He had long, black and white eyelashes, and a slender, cat like build, muscular, but compact. He was wearing an all black kimono that day, and no sandals. Usually he wore a different outfit, but it seemed that day he wanted to be simple. Little known to him, his cat nap was about to end quite .

Meanwhile, a group of teenagers were huddled at the base of the many shrine steps at the bottom of the hill, laughing among themselves, daring each other to go up the stairs and see just who this stranger was. Because from the rumors they had heard, he was either a ghost, or some other creature not of this world. That or just some weirdo who liked hanging out at dilapidated old shrines. Eventually, one male gets picked, and the others laugh. Seeing as it was the one who, out of all of them, didn't believe at all in the 'otherworldly' or 'spiritual' side of things. "Go on!" One says. "You know what to do. Try seeing if he's real or not!"

General Information:

Name: Ryo Kamikaze

Age: 19 years of age

Birthday: May 1st

Gender: Male

Race: Human

Sexuality: Bi

Position: Seke

Appearance:

Height: 5' 3"

Eyes: Smoky brown

Hair: Autumn brown

Clothing: Always seen with his scarf

Extras: Has a unique birth scar upon his back in the appearance of clipped wings

It was a typical day out and about with a group of friends. He often hung out with them as it was always very entertaining. His friends were the kind to be rowdy and full of life. Ryo's personality completely didn't match them at all but it's why they all enjoyed being with one another. This day was particularly different as they overheard an urban legend during class. It lead them to a shrine with a mysterious figure that lurked about the place. One would naturally decline such a dare to go investigate but that was different for him.

Ryo sighs softly as he started up the stairs. He honestly wasn't sure what he would find at the top. He was sure it was either some hobo or crazed drunk laying about causing this legend. The idea of it being a ghost or apparition was just foolish. He always found a logical answer to everything. There was nothing that couldn't be explained with facts and data. Ryo had no doubt in his mind that he would have the answers to this so called spooky shrine legend.

The top of the stairs came into view and the shrine more visible. Ryo looked around before noticing someone or something there. "Hello..? Is there someone there? Could you come out so people can realize your just a weirdo looking for attention." he said placing his hands in his pockets. He stood silently awaiting a reaction or response from the figure before him. He wasn't going to get too close in case the person was insane and attacked

The sound of quiet footsteps, dulled by the area's 'aura' echo quietly through the seemingly deserted shrine, no sign of life anywhere to be seen by the young man who had just topped the shrine stairs. The young man on top of the Honden shifts a little bit, not waking. But when a voice calls out, his eyes snap open, and he sits up, keen vision searching the grounds that lay before him. His sighs land on a young man, who was calling out, asking for an appearance, to prove that, in the stranger's own words 'he was just a weirdo looking for attention.'

Taken aback by this statement, the man stands up, a lone figure on top of the Honden, his visage not quite clear enough to be made out by the other. Who was this guy to just come up and tell him to admit such an atrocity? There was no way he was going to stoop so low as to say he was a 'weirdo keen for attention', for that was neither true nor accurate in the least.

For a moment the sun was blotted out by a group of clouds, and a gust of wind swirls around the man's body, leaves and other natural debris obscuring him from view of the male on the ground, and the moment the wind dies down, he was gone, the spot where he had been standing on the roof was now barren of his being there. But he wasn't gone for long. He reappears in a tree to the left of the young man on the ground, standing on one foot on a limb high above the ground. Now that he was closer, the young man standing on the ground could see him quite clearly.

"I'll have you know I'm no bum, or hobo, or weirdo. So don't call me such things. Show some respect, will you? This is the shrine to a holy being, one that you should know quite well? Or maybe not, you eyes tell me you don't believe. Be that as it may, know that next time you speak you should show a little more courtesy to those who are a bit more important than you." In the blink of an eye, he was gone again, only to reappear once more on top of the cover of the holy well, or the Chōzuya, which was to the male's right, and even closer than the tree. He was in a lounging position, laying on his side, inspecting the nails on his fingers. He glances over at the trespasser, and grins, a mischievous look in his eyes. "So...you gonna apologize for being rude? Because you calling me such a thing really hurt my feelings."

Fushimi+Inari+Stairs+Up.jpgTis the hill of stairs that leads to the shrine...VERY LONG STAIRCASE!

Ryo stood there looking around. He found this place in particular rather creepy feeling. It didn't cause him to think this place was otherworldly but it was different. He felt the wind around the area pick up and his attention drifted to the side. He covered his face with his arm as the wind suddenly died down. His gaze moving around to see where the figure had run off to. To his surprise they were now standing in a tree and talking to him. He found it impressive that they moved so quickly but it didn't strike him as anything odd.

He listened to the other rant a little about how rude he was being. He snicked a little as he tilts his head. "I have no idea what you are complaining about. You laze about this place causing suspicious rumors to spread like wildfire and expect me to come here all polite. Please rethink this situation. I don't care if this place is so-called holy. Things like gods or demons or apparitions is all make believe. Just a bunch of children stories to make sure we all do good. I know for a fact there's no higher being out there." he declared shrugging his shoulders. Ryo found this person very funny.

Watching as the male went from the tree to now laying upon the Chōzuya, was still impressive to him but that was about it. "I don't plan to apologize since I am not in the wrong. Maybe you should apologize to the people around here for causing them to be scared of this place. Oh, and if I hurt your feelings then maybe you should stop hanging in trees and grow a back bone. This world isn't going to be nice to you all the time. Well, mystery solve and I am leave. See you later." Ryo said turning to start heading back down the stairs. He was sure his friends either took off scared by now or just waiting around with jokes.

Simply listening, not saying anything, he let the other male talk, say his part. He simply smiles, not saying a word in response. He wanted to say several things to this young man, but says nothing instead. He'd let the man think what he wanted. That was his right. Though he had to admit when he went on about how Holy Beings weren't real, he wanted to snap a nasty reply back, but bit his tongue and kept quiet. Humans sure were stubborn creatures. They always thought they were the highest being on the earth, as if THEY were gods. Yeah right.

When the other turned to leave, he jumps down from the Chōzuya, and lands in front of him. One word for now. "Right. But just so you know...you're wrong. Seeing isn't always believing. Remember that." He bows low, letting the other pass, grinning as he brushes past the man. As the young man left, and descended the steps, it would seem as if the stairs went on forever. And then the weirdest thing would happen. Just as he thought he'd reached the bottom, he would find himself at the top of the steps once again.

Byakko was sitting on top of the Torii, looking quite smug. He looks down the other male, and grins. "Back again? Or are you stuck? Maybe you're missing something. You should check." He grins again, pointing to the Haiden, across the way from him, down a path towards the main shrine. Tied to the top of the roof, on what appeared to be an ornate statue shaped like a tiger, wrapped around it's neck, was a scarf, the ends flapping in the light breeze. "Have fun getting it down." With that, he vanishes in thin air, leaving the young man by himself.

However, he hadn't gone too far, reappearing in the Honden, sitting down on the floor, leaning against the wall. He was having fun with this. He knew that if the young man wanted to get his scarf down, he'd have to ask for help someway or another. Bring his friends up maybe? Ask for help from him? Who knew. But he'd need help.

As he made his way down the steps, he stopped noticing the strange male before him. He ignored his words as he continued down the stairs. He felt he would never reach the bottom but as he did something felt off. He looked around and he was once again at the top of the steps. He was sure he had walked down but then again he could be wrong. He turned to look around. He wonders if maybe he was sleeping or dreaming this whole thing. Before he could gather his thoughts a voice called out to him again.

Ryo turned to look at the male. "Missing something..?" he mumbled before realizing his scarf was gone from his neck. This infuriated him to the core. The scarf was seriously important to him as he never took it off. Gritting his teeth as he look to see where it was, his gaze turned to the male. His eyes could cut throats if they were daggers. "Don't go taking people's things." he snapped before running towards the statue.

Ryo's only concern at this moment was retrieving the scarf. He didn't care if his friends left or not. This was very important to him and he wouldn't stop until he got it back.

Sitting there in Honden, wondering what the other male was doing, he sighs. He places his forefinger on the floor, a spot of ice forming from it, so there was around spot of sheer ice on the wooden floorboards. It was blank for a second, but glows a bit, to reveal what was going on outside. The other male was standing there, staring up at the scarf that was wrapped around the tiger statue, and if looks could kill, his would. He was angry. VERY angry.

Byakko sighs softly again, looking up for a moment, before watching the ice mirror again, blinking when a few new individuals appear on the surface. Looks like his friends had come to help. "Hey, Ryo, what are you doing?" One asks. Another looks over towards where their friend was staring. "How the hell did your scarf get all the way up there?!?" They walk over to the building, and look up. "How we gonna get it down?" Another asks.

"Oh dear. It looks like I've got a bit of company..." Byakko mutters to himself, standing up, the moment his finger left the floor, so did the ice mirror, melting, turning to water, and then evaporating in thin air. He leaves the Honden, and walks over to the young men. They don't notice him until he calls out, causing some of them to jump in surprise. "Don't worry. I'm not here to harm you. Just give you advice. I suggest you consider teaching your friend here how to respect others..." He glances over at Ryo. But that's for another matter." He snaps his fingers, and the scarf flutters down towards them, landing softly around Ryo's shoulders. "Now then, you got your scarf. Please leave." With that, he disappears, vanishes in thin air. The others stare, dumbfounded.

He could only take so much disturbance before he got annoyed. Besides, that boy's attitude ticked him off. He settles back down in the Honden, deciding for now it would be best to nap inside. He wanted to relax outside, but not if there were going to be people like them around, disrespecting him.

Ryo stared up at the scarf. It really irked his nerves that he couldn't reach it. He began looking around for maybe a spot to climb up and retrieve it. As he searched a voiced called out to him. Turning around he noticed his friends had climbed up the stairs. He looked at them before letting out a sigh. "Some creep playing hide & seek up here took it and put it up there. You think you guys can help me?" he asked them as he looked back up at the scarf

His gaze not leaving the scarf until the presence of the person who put it there appeared. He could see the freaked out faces of his friends as they looked at the male. He narrowed his eyes as the scarf was returned to him. "I would have left a while ago if it weren't for your childish games." he said as he adjusted the scarf back to his liking.

Ryo began to walk pass his friends to head down the stairs. "Come on you guys. No use in standing around like idiots. We solved this stupid mystery so lets go do something fun." he said as he was sure they would be talking about this for the rest of the day.

Eventually it falls silent outside, and Byakko could sense they had gone away. He sighs, relaxing now that he was all alone. If one thing annoyed him most in the world, it was people like that guy. Stuck up, unbelieving, and rude. He stands up, stretching a bit before leaving the confines of the Honden, stretching his arms above his head. He glances at the sky, which was beginning to dim as the day was coming to the evening hours. The weather was still perfect, so he decided to go do a few more things before the day was over.

However, he decides to change, putting on a pair of black pants, a black tank top, and a black vinyl vest. He looked a bit more normal in those clothing. He also wore a pair of black knee high buckled boots, something a Gothic guy would wear. He adds finger less black gloves to the look, and a silver studded belt now hung on his hips. Checking his appearance in the mirror of the room he'd gone to change in, he nods. It was perfect.

Taking his leave of the shrine, he walks down the steps, and then takes a right on the sidewalk, going no where in particular, just wanting to do something to get his mind off of the guy from before. Even if they ran into each other again, the other woukd have a hard time recognizing him, well, maybe, if the other remembered his face. He didn't really think about it much, but continued to walk, minding his own business.

Ryo walked with his friends before they all went their separate ways. He was sure they were all talking about the strange male from the shrine. He had no time for that man since he was just some freak show to him. He headed home for the moment as he wanted to change before heading out into the town. His family wasn't home at this hour so he made it in and out without any distractions.

After changing into a simple casual look which was only defined by his signature scarf, Ryo headed out into town. He was he would never run into the guy again. Its not as if he would go back to that shrine even if his friends dared him to. That guy was just too annoying for him. For now Ryo only wished to enjoy the evening out on his own. It was a nice night for a walk.

As he walked on the sidewalk, he noticed a bookstore that seemed fairly new. His curiosity got the better of him and he went to check it out. He His gaze slowly eyeing the different books in the window. He was tempted to walk inside and get a better look.

After walking for a bit, Byakko had decided to check out a small bookstore that had caught his eye. Now he was browsing the shelves, a book in his hand, and he was looking through it, quite interested in the words that were written on the page. Such intriguing ideas some people had that had to do with that of lore and things like religion and gods. He didn't notice the young man standing outside the window, nor could the other male see him inside, as a shelf of books was blocking Byakko from view.

He set the book down, and then picked up another, this one was filled with different files on the different Chinese and Japanese Deity's. He flipped through the pages, and lands on the one he was most interested in. He grins, reading the words the person had written, amused. The page he was reading was on the White Tiger of the West, or Byakko.

In Chinese culture, the tiger is the king of the beasts and has been presented with a 王 on his forehead for centuries. According to legend, the tiger's tail would turn into white when it reached the age of 500 years. In this way, the white tiger became a kind of mythological creature. It was said that the white tiger would only appear when the emperor ruled with absolute virtue, or if there was peace throughout the world. Because the color white of the Wu Xing theory also represents the west, the white tiger became a mythological guardian of the west.

In the novel Tales of the Tang dynasty (Chinese: 隋唐演義), the reincarnation of the White Tiger's star is said to be General Luo Cheng and the reincarnation of the Azure Dragon's star is said to be the rebellious General Shan Xiongxin. They two are sworn brothers of Qin Shubao, Cheng Yaojin and Yuchi Jingde. Their souls after death are said to possess the body of the new heroes of the Tang and Liao dynasties, Xue Rengui and He Suwen.

He simply rolled his eyes, astonished how these people thought of such things. But some of the things they had written was true. Which was quite something, since mortals rarely got things like this true. He decided to buy the book, to read more, tucking it under his arm, and browses some more.

Ryo let curiosity get the better of him and he stepped inside. He sighs softly as he entered the store. He walked in and looked at a few different titles upon the shelves nearby. As he continued inside he noticed one book that caught his attention. He walked towards the shelf and picked it up. It was called 'The Legend of the White Tiger of the West'. The art upon the cover was beyond eye catching. He held the book mesmerized by the art.

After a moment he moved his gaze from the book to the shelf. The book wasn't all too expensive but what bothered him the most was that it was in the religious section. He instantly frowned disliking this completely. How could something drawn so beautifully be on the cover of such a book. He placed it back down and continued to browse the shelves. Surprisingly Ryo kept walking back by the book and glancing at the cover. He couldn't simply just ignore it.

As he looked at another book, he heard the door to the store open, and then footsteps as they moved closer to the shelf he was behind. Glancing through the space between the books, he was surprised to see the guy from before. And then the book the other picked up. He grins, placing a hand over his mouth to silence a chuckle as the other saw what the book was sectioned under. Watching from the shadows as the male put it down, but kept coming back to it, as if he was drawn to the book.

"Just get the book. It's not as bad as you think. Besides, maybe you'll learn a few things...about life." He murmurs out to the other, his voice slightly different, so he wouldn't recognize Byakko. If the other decided to try and see who had spoken, Byakko simply slips further into the shadows, out of sight, not able to be seen by the other male. He didn't want to be seen, not yet anyways. "You'll like it, trust me." This time it was the bookstore owner who had spoken, coming over from one of the other shelves he'd been stocking. "That's a good one, tells about one of the most beautiful deity's there is."

Ryo stopped in front of the book for yet another time. He couldn't get the image of the cover out his mind. He sighs as he heard a voice trying to tell him to get the book. He ignored it at first but then the store owner said something. He glanced over at the male and shook his head. "It looks like a lovely book but I won't buy it. I'm far from being the religious type. Though the artwork is compelling me to do otherwise. Haven't felt this conflicted in a long time." he mutters as he picked up the book.

He never expected his willpower to be overtrown by a book. Especially a religious type of book. He honestly wanted to jump into a lake for this. Ryo was glad no one he knew was here. It would be difficult to explain at the moment. He walked to th counter silently as he paid for the book.

Grinning, he watched as the other eventually gave in and bought the book, the look on his face was priceless. It was obvious the other was glad no friends of his were around to see him buy the book, as it was supposedly not his sort of thing to get. But Byakko thought it was good for him to get something he usually didn't. Like he had whispered to the other, it would teach him things, about life and much more.

He waited until the other had left before buying the book he had found, and leaves the store himself. Not returning to the shrine just yet, he decided to walk a bit more, enjoy the day a little longer.

Ryo walked out the shop with the book. He didn't feel too bad about the book after all it wasn't like he planned to read it or anything. The front cover was enough for him. He was sure there wasn't any more artwork within it so no need for him to continue beyond the cover. His interest in religious things just wasn't there for him to venture into the pages no matter what anyone tried to convince him.

As he walked down the sidewalk, his eyes caught glimpse of a small diner. He had no plans of going home just yet. He didn't enjoy being there to begin with. It always left him with such an empty feeling. He slowly entered the diner and took a seat beside a window. He placed the book beside him as he stared out the glass window. A waitress walked over placing a menu before him. She gave a small smile asking if he'd like anything to drink. Ryo decides to order a small green tea for now.

After walking a bit, he spots a small diner, deciding to stop by for a drink before he went back to the shrine that evening. Going inside, he notices the same guy again, sitting at a small table by the window. Apparently he hadn't noticed Byakko yet, as he was now ordering a green tea from the waitress who had come up to him. With careful steps, he walks over to the male, and reaches out, about to tap him on the shoulder, but stops, his hand quivering inches away from the guy's arm.

He had second thoughts, so pulls his hand back, and instead moves so he was standing a bit away, watching as the waitress came back with his drink, setting it down. He too sits down, but at another table, and waits for the guy to finish with his tea, and whatever else he ordered. The moment he was done, Byakko went up to the table, where the waitress was waiting for the bill to be paid. "Wait, I got this...." Byakko pulls out some money, and pays for the drinks and whatever else the other had gotten. He then looks at the male. "As a way to say sorry for earlier...you know...the scarf..." And with those words, he walks away, not giving the chance to say anything back.

His gaze lowers a bit as he taps the cover of the book. He honestly wanted to return it now. He wasn't going to but the conflicting emotions were there. He gently gripped his scarf as he let out a sigh. The waitress returned with the tea and he decides to order a light croissant with a glaze topping. He sipped the tea until the food was brought out to him. He ate silently as he felt no need to rush.

As the plate soon became clear except a few crumbs here and there; Ryo awaite the check. He glanced at it before reaching into his pocket. Before he could pull out a cent a familiar voice spoke up. He darts his eyes towards the male who was now paying for his food. As the waitress took the money and the bill, Ryo quickly stood and ran after him. "Oi!! Don't go running off after a stunt like that."

He was out of the diner, and halfway down the street, when he hears someone call out to him. He stops walking, and turns around, his eyes narrowing as he saw who had called out to him. His brows press together, and his jaw clenches, it was obvious he didn't want to be bothered if all he was going to get was some pointless lecture from this young man. "What the heck do you want? If all you're going to do is diss me, save your breath..." He turns around again, and begins walking once more. 'And it wasn't a stunt...it was something I have a habit of doing...' He added, though he didn't say it out loud, but kept the words in his head.

However, Byakko walked a bit slower, so the other could keep up with him, though he still walked pretty fast. He was sure the other just wanted to say something rude, so why did he run after Byakko? Didn't the guy already hate him after their one meeting? So what could he possibly want to do with Byakko now? There was nothing to be said...or was there? Byakko kept that information to himself, making it look as if he was done with the guy.

Ryo chased after the other before stopping a bit. He looked to the male a bit caught off guard again. "I am not trying to diss you. I am trying to figure out what the hell you are trying to pull back there. If you wanted to pay for the meal then say something properly to me. Walking out like that just looks beyond shady." he said still following after him. He hadn't to have the feeling of being indebted to anyone.

Finally catching up to him, he sighs. "Listing if that was your so-called apology for my scarf then here take this." he said holding out the book he had just bought towards the other. "I only picked it up on a whim but I have a feeling a shrine lover like yourself would find better use for this than myself. So you can have it as my apology for calling you names." he said

"I don't want the book." Byakko says simply. "And I wasn't pulling anything. That's just who I am." He glares at the other male. "You keep it." He ignored the man's comments about him being a shrine lover, and turns away again, heading towards the shrine. "Besides, you might actually learn something..." Which was what he needed. To learn. When he reached the steps that led to the shrine, he didn't turn to go up them. Instead, he turns the opposite way, heading across the street to a small two story house that was set right across the street from the stairs.

Unlocking it, he ignored if the man had followed him, and closes it behind himself, taking off his shoes, and heading to the kitchen, deciding to make something for a late evening snack. However, he felt he was being a bit harsh to the guy, and started to feel guilty. But it didn't last for long as the scent of tuna and salmon reached his nostrils.

Ryo grits his teeth a bit as he looked at the other. He had no use for this book and wasn't planning to read it. He continued after the male for a moment before noticing him heading towards the shrine. He wanted to laugh since it was kind of late for one to be going there. Though he realized the male had then turned away to go home. He wonders if this person was like the shrine keeper or something. It would explain why he got all fussy about it before. He silently watched as the male entered him home and closed the door.

Ryo decided to place the book within the man's mailbox. "I can tell you from pure facts this book won't teach me a single thing. There's nothing to be all religious about because its all just in your head." he said before walking away. He decides it was late enough and he should head home. He felt bad for buying such a book but he felt it was in better hands now.

While he was biting into a piece of the fish, he hears something landing in the mailbox on his door. He narrows his eyes, and goes to it, looking inside, to see the book that the other had bought, inside of it. He sighs softly, and pulls it out, staring at the tiger, so majestic, so royal. Byakko goes back to the kitchen, the book still in his hand, and then sets on the counter, still staring at it. Why didn't the man just read it? It wasn't all about religion and spirituality. It had facts of life, and if he looked closely, opened his eyes, it would tell him things.

But of course, Byakko didn't expect the other to understand. After all, how could someone, who had closed their eyes to the spiritual world for so long, be willing to try to open up to a place he didn't believe in? Byakko stands there, and closes his eyes, not sure what to do about the situation. After a moment of thinking, he comes to a decision. Reaching out, he places a single finger upon the cover of the book, and in a blink of an eye, it vanishes, only to reappear in Ryo's mailbox.

Placed on the outside, taped to it, was a note. It read: 'Please, take a chance to read it. Or even just look. Take time, to glance at it for a mere moment. Maybe you'll see something you didn't think you'd see. I'm begging you, just look at it. Do this, and you'll understand. ~B~

Ryo walked home and as he arrived he checked the mailbox. His eyes widen as he looked around. He was sure there was no way that man knew wherehe lived so how did this happen. Feeling a bit freaked out he grabs the mail and the book and heads inside. He placed the mail on a nearby table and headed to his room with the book. Sitting upon his bed he glanced at the note upon. It. "Why so eager for me to read this garbage? If you knew my reasoning behind my hate towards religion I wonder if you'd still be so persistent." he thinks to himself as he placed the book on his nightstand. He didn't plan to look through it.

As he laid in bed, Ryo gripped the scarf tha forever stayed upon his neck. He closed his eyes wanting to shut out the world around him for a while. He planned to head back to the shrine in his spare time. This book would belong to that shrine guy if it was the last thing he would do.

The night came and went, and soon it was the next day. Unfortunately, the day wasn't as perfect as the one before, but the weather was still nice. After eating some breakfast, Byakko leaves his apartment, and heads across the street and uo the shrine steps, taking in a deep breath of fresh morning air, the air quite cool still, but not too cold. He looks around, taking in the image of the holy grounds, before walking over to a tree at the edge of the walk, and in a flash o blue and white fire, his body changes form.

So that when he curled up at the base of the huge tree, he wasn't human in appearance, but instead a huge white and black tiger, with ice blue eyes. He was, in appearance, just like the image on the book that Ryo had purchased the day before. Resting his head on his paws, his eyes close slightly, but not fully, so that just a sliver of his icy blue eyes could be seen. His tail flops lazily against the ground, and he begins to purr softly as the sun began to warm his fur. He didn't worry about anyone seeing him like this, because visitors were rare.
