The message has arrived soon after Lance stepped into his house.

"Lucky" he said as he dropped his shoes at the door step and headed to the kitchen.

Lucky! well do rest then. Here look how nice this is

As an attachment he sent the picture he had taken close to the park.

The night continued smoothly he made dinner, watched news and continued his homework. Soon a short shower was taken and he found himself laying on his bed thinking. Winter was slowly approaching and Lance wondered if his parents were going to visit this time.

A wave of tiredness hit him and he slowly began to doze off, his phone close to him in case Shiro messaged

Picking up the phone from the bed when it went off, he opens it, and checks the message, feeling his heart almost stop when he saw the photo Len sent him. He recognized that view, he saw it every day when he walked home from the high school every day after classes. He wasn't sure what to say, so didn't reply until later, trying to figure out the right words.

Eventually he picks up his phone, slowly pressing the keys to write out a message in reply to Len. He presses send, and closes his phone, setting back on his bed, sitting up and staring at it. Was Len closer than he realized? He tried thinking of other schools nearby his own, but the only other one was a preschool, and a college. So, was Len a college student? He doubted the other guy was in preschool.

The message he wrote to Len read as follows: 'Oh, that's really pretty. Looks like somewhere near where i live. I definitely recognize the construction. It's been going on forever, an they still haven't finished. Pretty picture though! And I will rest well, I hope. You too! he sent it about an hour after Len had messaged him.

He then goes downstairs, his mother calling g up the stairs to him that dinner was ready. Sitting at the table, he quietly eats his food, listening to the conversation between his mom and dad, being completely ignored by the two. It was always like this, ever since that day. He finishes eating, and places his dishes in the sink, then once more retreats to his room, sitting on his bed and glancing at the phone.

You think so! yeah I live a few blocks from there. I have some others too I'll send them as a surprise every so often

Lance rolled in his bed as he clicked sent. He wasn't too familiar with the area since he had just gone to live there about 6 months ago. His parents were more than happy that he was adventurous and agreed with his choice, they surprised him with the house he was staying in. Although he was happy, the place was too big! to many rooms for one guy alone and not to mention it caught everyone attention when they walked by.... it was that big.

'Ridiculous' he though at first but now he had learned to ignore all the other empty spaces.

"Shiro lives by here? where?" he began to wonder and caught himself blushing.

"Yeshh what am I a stalker?!" after sarcastically asking himself this Lance closed the phone and went to sleep.

The next morning Lance found himself leaving the house with a dress shirt and lab coat on. He was presenting quite the scientific experiment today and wanted to go prepared .

The air was slightly humid and clouds covered the sky, usually this meant rain which was normal for the quickly approaching season change. He passed the park again and quickly glanced to his right for a second before he quickly looked at his watch for the time.

'Still on time , have to hurry' he thought a he pushed his hair back and sped up.

By the time the next day had arrived, it was looking like it was going to rain outside, but Shinji still wanted to go to the park. Getting dressed in an over sized sweater, large baggy pants, and scruffy old white sneakers, he eats a quick breakfast, and grabs an umbrella when he left the house, his notebook tucked in a bag on his shoulder, that also held a few books, a iPod, his phone, some money, and a pack of gum.

Arriving at the park, he sits down beneath his favorite tree, pulling out his notebook, and begins to draw. After a while sitting there, he felt a drop of rain on his cheek. He looks up at the sky, having expected it to rain, so opens the umbrella, setting it so it was over his shoulder. However, he hadn't been expecting a sudden wash of fatigue to rush over him, and within a moment, he passes out, slumping to the ground. He was burning up, and his muscles were sore, as if he was a brick body.

The time came when he was to meet Len on the game, but he couldn't make it. Rain was pouring outside, and soon Shinji's unconscious body was soaked with rain. But still he didn't wake up. An hour after the designated time, a person spots him in the park, a young woman, and unfortunately she didn't have a phone. She hurries to the nearest house, a huge one, and rushes up the steps, and pounds on the front door. "Hello? Hello?!? Somebody, please, I need your help!"She creamed, hoping the person would answer. If they did, she told them what was going on.

Lance was snapped from his thoughts as a sudden banging on his door rung all throughout the house. He quickly ran to door and found a flushed woman.

"Y-yes" answered Lance

"Please help there's a young boy at the near park, I'm sorry your house was the closest by, please he won't wake up and I don't have a phone" she repeated running out of breath.

As a doctor to be Lance had been trained for this he ran back inside grabbed a sweater and a poncho. Both ran back to the park to find the boy unconscious and pale.

Lance proceeded to check for wounds, none,

"His body is burning up" Lance told the woman.

"Lets take him back to my house, I'm a medical student I'll pre-check him"

The woman nodded and took the boy back. Lance carried him close to his chest as she carried the bag and umbrella.

Hot water, towels and clothes were spread out in one of the guest rooms. Lance moved the boy to the bathroom and removed all the soaked items, dipped him in a warm bath and quickly took him out. Soon the boy was dried and dressed up.

"Thank you for helping me dress him, he's not too far from my age so I wonder were his parents are" he said as he moved to check the boys hear beat with a stethoscope. "Steady"

He also check the lungs and throat.

"Pupils are dilated but no cranial damage, please pass me the flu medicine" he asked the woman to his left.

Ones the boy was wrapped up in a warm blanket with an ice patch to his forehead Lance began to relax.

"T-thank you so much" said the lady as she too relaxed

"Not a problem, you can leave him with me" said Lance as he took his medical license out "I am a medical student so I know the procedure but I want to wait for him to wake up"

The lady believed him as soon as the licence was shown, not that he could blame her either, there are always weird people out.

-----------------------------------------

"Give me a call when he wakes up" she said as she headed out after the rain had died a little.

Lance returned to the guest room that was in front if his and once again checked the boys fever. He sat on the near by chair and played with his phone waiting for him to wake.

He felt warm...so warm. And dry. Why was he dry? Wasn't he outside, where it was raining? Slowly he opens his eyes, his vision blurry, and his whole body felt like it was being crushed by rocks, sore and heavy. The first thing he notices was that he was inside. Second, in a bed he didn't recognize, and wearing clothing that wasn't his own. Shinji looks over to his left, and was surprised to see a young man sitting in a seat by him, one he didn't recognize.

"Where...am I?" He mutters, feeling dizzy. Even though he was more awake now, his vision was still blurred. His glasses had been removed from his face, so he couldn't see very clearly. He felt as if he was on fire, despite the cold rag on his forehead. "Who are you?" Was his second question to the young man sitting by him in the chair, messing with a phone he was holding.

He had a feeling he was in the guy's house. Slowly he forces himself to sit up, wincing from the effort. On a table, he spots his glasses, and reaches for them. Once he got a hold of them, he pushes them in place, so now his vision was much clearer. Right when he looked at the other guy, he suddenly relalizes something. "Oh no! I totally missed meeting him! I hope he isn't waiting for me, I'd feel bad." He mumbles some things to himself, totally forgetting the other guy was still there.

Urging the younger boy to lay back down, Lance rose from his chair and sat by the bed.

"Hello my name is Lance, you fainted so I brought you to my house. I am a medical student and I'm urging you to please lay down and rest" he smiled kindly

"I prepared some soup while you slept, I'll bring it so you can get something in your system, yeah?"

Lance quickly ran downstairs and brought the plate he had prepared. "First drink this , see medicine," reaching for his forehead he removed the patch and replaced it with a new one.

"Alright how do you feel?"

Shinji looks at the man, reluctantly laying back down on the bed, his head resting on the pillow, and listens as the man introduces himself, saying his name was Lance. Apparently he had fainted in the park, and Lance had brought him to his house. Score one for Shinji on getting that guess right. Secondly, Lance was a medical student, and was taking care of him. When the other mentioned soup, all Shinji did was nod, feeling his uneasy shyness take a hold. When the other left, he wondered to himself just how long it had been since someone had actually taken care of him like this. A very long time, that was for sure.

The other returned, with a plate and a glass, telling Shinji to drink it, and he did, cautiously taking the glass from Lance, and drinking it slowly. When Lance reached towards him to take the wet rag/patch, he flinched, but it was soon apparent that Lance wasn't going to hit or hurt him, and he slowly opens his eyes. Lance asked how he was feeling, and Shinji glanced at the glass.

"I feel like crap..." He replies, feeling a lurch in his stomach. He winces, and clasps his hand over his mouth, not wanting to hurl all over the guy's bed. He could feel the food in his stomach slosh around, trying to force it's way out of his throat, but he swallows it back. But he knew he couldn't hold it for long. "Ugh...I feel like I'm gonna...puke..." He manages, tears stinging the corners of his eyes. Why did he have to get sick now? He was missing out on meeting Len in the game!

The procedure was easy, make the patience calm down, take care of them, provide medicine and food, keep warm. See if an IV would be required later on.

These where the steps Lance had been taught over and over when it came to taking care of patient. The boy was no different, hospital care would to extreme for the boy since he was probably suffering from some serious malnutrition and excess stress.

Quickly Lance walked to the bathroom and returned with a bucket. "Here just in case, no need to be shy either I"m used to this"

He watched the boy for a while but nothing happened. "Allow me to check you again, please"

Blood pressure-- fine

Pupils-- Perfect

Ears--healthy

Throat-- slightly inflamed and irritated

"Your glands in your throat are slightly irritated" said Lance as he focused on the boy in case something happened "But taking you to a hospital would be too extreme"

Sitting back Lance continued "Seeing by your appearance you lack major protein. I'll make sure to put some in your bag they are important. Also soften foods. I'm not sure what you eat but i recommend you switch to light sandwiches and fruits."

"If you can eat the soup I'll keep an eye on you but your dizzy spells will continue unless you change your life style and release stress....also"

He observed the boy as he took in the information and handed him some water. "Drink if you can, yes?" he said smiling friendly.

Taking his phone he found Shiro's contact. 'I totally missed him today'

Something really big came up! I'll tell you soon and you won't believe but you will be glad I'm helping a patient

Sent

Closing his phone Lance looked at the boy and said. "I'm going down stairs to get an IV in case you do start throwing up"

He then dissapeared in the hall way.

He let the other do his thing, checking his vitals, and all of that medical stuff. When Lance told him some things, he listened quietly, -nodding at the right times, not saying anything, afraid if he opened his mouth he just might hurl. He was already dizzy again, and closes his eyes, listening as Lance told him to drink the water. He simply nods, and heard as the guy left the room. Right as he did, he got a message on his phone, which was sitti g on the table by the bed. Picking it up, he reads the message.

'Oh that's cool. I'm actually sick myself. It's been a while since anyone's taken care of me...but surprisingly today someone is. Its someone I just met. He's really nice. he presses send, and sets the phone down.

Right after he sent the message, he feels a strong pain in his stomach, and knew this wads it. He picks up the bucket, and next thing he knew was throwing up in it, his throat burning, his sides clenched, his whole body sore. Tears spilled from his eyes. It hurt really bad. Eventually it stops, and he wipes the corner of his mouth with a shaky hand. "Ugh...this sucks..."

He hated being sick, but he didn't doubt the fact he was. He wasn't very healthy to begin with, and ever since the incident, he'd lost even more health. Not to mention school was stressful, and the part where his parents didn't even give him the time of day, pretended he wasn't around. Pretty much treated him like a shadow. All they did for him was make meals, and wash his clothes. And even with that they sometimes failed to do that much.

Sighing, he tries to relax, and reaches for the glass of water, but right at that moment gets that feeling again, and hurls into the bucket again. Crying even more. Wishing it would just go away. All he wanted was to escape this reality, and to the only place he felt he truly belonged. But now he could not.

Lance walked into the room and ran to the boy, he placed his hand on the boys back and rubbed it.

"Just let it out, I'm , connecting the IV after this"

Soon the boys stomach gave out and he feel back on the bed. Lance grabbed a wet towel and cleaned around his mouth.

"You are throwing up acid at this point you need to eat something, the IV will keep you from throwing up"

Lance grabbed the boys arm and found a vein, "This wont hurt much okay" he inserted the IV and hung it from the side of the bed.

He then changed the forehead patch again and replaced it with a new one.

"Let the IV do its work then you have to eat"

Lance's phone vibrated in his pocket and he reached for it reading Shiro's message, he softly smiled.

I'm glad its always good to have people around. Tell me about it soon.

"Chew on these, they are vitamins A and C.... plus they um taste good hehehe" Lance loved to eat those vitamin gummy terribly.

"Now eat"

Right then, Lance had returned, and was rubbing his back, taking care of him. He winces slightly when an I.V. was put into his arm, but the pain didn't last long. He sighs softly as the patch on his forehead was replaced again, and watched as Lance messed with his phone, apparently sending someone a message.

As he accepted the vitamins, his own phone went off, and he glances at it, then at Lance. He decides to wait for a bit before checking , when Lance wasn't there more specifically. He looks to the gummies in his hand, and then to Lance again, as the other insisted him to eat them. He does so, and chews slowly, swallowing it after a bit. He sighs, glad he wasn't throwing up right then.

After a moment, he speaks up. Trying to get his thoughts straight. And to find out just what this guy was up to. "Why are you doing this for me? You know you could just take me home." He looks at Lance. "My mom and dad will take care of me." This was a total fib, and it showed in his eyes, though he tried not to let it show at all. He didn't want to admit that he actually felt like someone finally cared for him, something he missed so much.

He stares at his hands, as he was sitting up again, laying down made him feel like he was going to throw up again. Even though by now his parents were probably home, he doubted they even noticed his absence. They never even noticed when he was actually there. His eyes sting again, and he lowers his head, trying to hide the tears in his eyes.

Lance noticed the sudden walls rising up. The patient was closing himself in, in cases like this were stress was obviously visible it was not wise to have the patient feel unpleasant.

Reaching for his wallet he pulled out his medical licence .

"See that's me, I'm a doctor is what I do especially when a young boy is laying on the park in obvious need." he took a breath in "I know this look weird but I'm really not doing anything weird, I'll even fill out a patient chart for you, how about that? Plus is not illegal for me to treat you... i mean I don't have the licence" Lance was beginning to get nervous because he didn't want the boy to oppose him, he lacked the energy and will power too.

"I assume you live near by so I'm not to worried I can just give a phone call to your parents but I don't want to trouble you plus..." a sudden pause was made as Lance stared at the boys hands "I think is irresponsible if a parents had not noticed if their child is suffering from depression and do forgive me if I'm wrong but I can't leave my work half ass, a doctors work is never over"

Handing the plate to the boy he looked at him urging him to eat. Reaching for his bag Lance pulled out a patient sheet

"I'll question you some stuff and fill it out if you want to later on go to the hospital this will help the doctors there examine you better ..."

"Are you okay?"

He listens carefully, and slowly looks up at Lance. Glancing at the license that was shown to him. Nodding quietly, he stares at his hands, not sure what to say or do. When Lance mentioned calling his parents, he looks up quickly. Speaking without even thinking. "No! D-don't do that, you don't have to. They-" He suddenly cuts himself off mid sentence, and then blushes deeply. He knew the other would catch on, that he'd been lying about how his parents would take care of him.

He stares at the plate that was set before him, staring at the food on it. Lance spoke again, saying something about filling paper work out and answering questions. Slowly he picks up the spoon, and pokes at the food. "Don't worry about it..." He mumbles. Plus he didn't want to go to the hospital, it would only make his parents angry because of the bill they'd receive.

Taking a bite of the food, he smiles a little, it was something his mother used to make when he was little, the time when she actually cared for him, and didn't treat him like an unhealing sore, or a cold she couldn't get rid of. He sighs a little bit, putting down the spoon, suddenly not wanting to eat because of that memory. "Sorry...I...I'm just not that hungry right now... " He mutters, glancing over at Lance.

The fact that he refused to eat worried Lance and slightly irritated him.

"Please get in the mood for food soon I don't mind preparing anything you like but if you don't eat you will end up in the hospital" said Lance "and I can obviously tell you don't want to be there so don't give yourself a reason to"

He didn't want to be rude but it seemed the boy did not have a clean understand of just how bad his health was.

Sitting back in the chair Lance rolled it close to the bed and prepared a pen.

"Alright please answer there as honestly you could, even if you don't want to its protocol"

Simple question followed, name? Age? School? Recent surgeries. Any important medical history?

The application was nearly done when Lance looked up casually and asked.

"Oh yeah lastly, are you sexually active?" and waited for the boy to answer.

Shinji listens as the other urges him to eat, saying if he didn't he really would end up at the hospital. Lance even offered to make something he liked, but Shinji shakes his head. "No...this is fine. Don't worry." He murmurs, picking the spoon up again, and begins to eat, albeit very slowly. He didn't want to upset his stomach by eating too fast. He waits for a bit, and glances up at Lance when he began to ask him questions, saying it was something for protocol or something like that.

He answers simply to the questions, not really embellishing the answers he gave Lance. "Shinji Yukaro. Seventeen. Takiyoka Tokyo Private Academy, third year. No surgery, but stayed in the hospital for a few months. I have slight asthma, and was recently diagnosed with PTSD, and Depression." He falls silent, hoping that was the only questions he needed to ask, but it wasn't.

The next one Lance asked made him blush a deep red, and stare fixedly at the food on his plate. He fought back the urge to scoff at the question. 'Seriously? Do I look like someone who would be having that sort of interaction with another person? I'm a nerd, a shut-in otaku, and I look to much like a girl. Not to mention I'm so scrawny...Who would like someone like me enough to do something like THAT with me?' He takes a deep breath and finally answers. "No." He begins to eat again, wishing the red from his face would disappear.

"Alright that that will be all" smiled Lance "Its a good thing too, many teens catching some nasty STDs and stuff, good looking teens like you should be careful" he laughed lightly.

Lance's mood had changed lightly since the Shinji had started to eat. He exited the room to find his lab coat and thermometer, returning promptly he checked the boys fever again to see it had gone down.

'Good'

Putting his lab coat on Lance looked over at the boy "Well you are definitely getting better, so now I'll give you freedom and stay here until you feel better, I don't mind if you do" he said as he fixed the collar of the lab coat "or you can call someone go home, but!! only if they are going to take care of you, you're still weak"

"If you do decide to stay I'll be in the room on the front working on a lab, really cool bacteria if you wanted to see" Lance suddenly became excited, his experiments had been going in the right directions and it was such fun he wouldn't have mined staying in the lab all day. "Oh but you don't have to, hahaha anyway what do you want to do?"

For the next few things that Lance did, like check his fever, Shinji remained quiet. He was surprised the other hadn't seemed a little bit shocked after hearing what his name was, seeing he was a prodigy, a genius. And someone who had survived the original SAO crisis. Someone, who, regrettably, felt it was his fault so many had died. Shinji on the other hand, was shocked when Lance offered to let him stay, and he didn't respond, only shook his head that he understood.

He wasn't sure what to do. He genuinely wished to stay, but...would it truly be alright? It wasn't as if his mother and father would care about him not being there. In fact, he bet they were quite glad he wasn't around them at the moment, staining their day with his presence. "Thanks...I'll think about it." He murmurs, about both staying where he was and seeing this experiment Lance was working on."

Falling silent again, he finally finishes his food, and lays back down, turning so he was facing away from Lance, his back to the other male. It was apparent he wanted to be left a lone for a little while, to think about what he was going to do. Return home to where he wasn't appreciated or wanted, or stay in a house of a man he had just met. He was confused, not sure what to think about the situation he was in. "Lan..." He murmurs, feeling guilty that he hadn't kept the promise he'd made to the other male.

Lance soon returned to his experiment and consequently checking on the other boy in the front room to see how he was doing. He placed various liquids next to the night stand water, orange juice, some milk and every time he returned the boy had drunk them and fallen asleep.

He was glad the boy seemed to be getting better, even thought Lance could do so little, but he tried.

Looking at the clock handing on a far away wall in the lab he read

4:30 AM and decided to check again on the boy and type up his record.

Lance grabbed his laptop the the information sheet he had gotten from Shinji. The computer was one of the few materialistic things Lance loved. It was thin, modern and had a huge SAO sticker on the front, making it all the better.

He sat on the desk near the boys bed and opened the laptop typing away, constantly checking if Shinji had moved or awaken.

He also made a mental note to see Shiro and apologize madly for not meeting.

For the next few hours, Shinji lay on his side, his back to the door so that when Lance came in, the other male could not see his face. He noticed that every time the other came in he brought different drinks, and the moment that Lance left the room, Shinji would shift in the bed, and pick up the glass, drinking the beverages the other had brought to him, leaving the glass where it had been set by Lance, then lays back down in the same position again.

Eventually he falls asleep, but was woken up by a startling nightmare, his whole body slick with sweat, and his heart racing madly in his chest. He looked over at the clock that was set on the stand, and saw that the glowing numbers read: 4:20 AM. He tries to fall asleep again, but images of the sickeningly, frighteningly, vivid nightmare kept flashing in front of his eyes, that he couldn't relax, and fall asleep. Ten minutes later he hears Lance walking towards the room, and quickly moved to his side, his eyes forcibly shut.

He curls up, his legs pulling close to his head, and he grits his teeth, trying hard not to cry, but the tears wouldn't stop stinging his eyes. He whimpers softly, trying to keep his voice quiet, so that Lance, who was now sitting in a chair near the bed, would not hear him. He hated this so much. The restless nights, the constant horrible dreams, the waking up feeling sick, and then not being able to sleep again, in fear of seeing those images again. Recently, he had been sleeping worse than ever, often going several nights without any sleep at all.

"Oh God...Just make it stop..." He murmurs, his voice choking in his throat. He felt his chest tighten, and couldn't contain it anymore. Tears began to spill over, and soon his whole body was shaking with sobs. He didn't even care at this point that Lance was in the room. He just wanted the images and memories to go away.

He had noticed the boy was awake but thinking perhaps he was embarrassed but then he began to shake and Lance became alarmed, he quickly walked to were the boy was and noticed he was... crying?

Not all medical issues are cased by bacteria or illness, some are just in our heads and we can't escape there can we?

those words had once said to Lance when he began to study medicine.

'How did i not notice before?' Lance asked himself.

He sat on the side of the bed and placed a hand gently on his head feeling his blonde soft locks of hair.

"You can cry you know, we all do" he stroked his head gently "They say the biggest monsters are in our head but only because we subconsciously keep them there" Lance could hear the subs of the smaller figure.

"You know you remind me of myself" he said as the boy turned around to finally reveal his big teary eyes and flushed face.

"My parents died when I was 9 and my aunt and uncle raised me. I became anorexic and cried all night" he softly laughed remembering his past self.

"One day when i was 10 i stopped talking and my brain gave out, they called it shock and i did not speak for 6 months; but important people were there and I learned that it is okay to feel guilt and regret, is fine to be sad it makes us human. But we have to let our monsters go"

He looked directly at the Shinji

"Listen here Shinji, There are only 2 ways to better yourself, learn or regret, and regret won't help.Let me help you" he said "I know how it feels to be in pain, let me help" Lance looked at the boy as he repeated the same words he had told Shiro a couple nights before.

He felt the bed shift, as Lance sat down on the bed next to him, and he flinches at first when he felt the man touch his hair softly. Lance began to speak to him, and for a moment Shinji just cried, listening to Lance as he spoke. He felt terrible, making this nice man stay up with him, just because he was such a weak person, who couldn't even control his own emotions.

When Lance tells him that he reminded him of himself when he was younger, Shinji turns to look at Lance, his eyes wide, filled with tears, his face stained with them as well, his cheeks flushed and red. The tears made his blue green eyes sparkle, as if they had their own stars inside of them. He just stared at Lance as he spoke, listening to him as he told about his past. Why was this man tellling him all this? Was it because he really cared?

Once Lance had finished talking, Shinji stares right in to Lance's eyes. And then, after taking a deep, shaky breath, he speaks, his voice soft, and low. "Could you really care for someone...who couldn't keep his brother from being killed? The monster isn't in my head...the monster is me." As he spoke, he recalled those words. The words Lance had said. And they reminded him of something Land had told him. But for now he says nothing of it.

Instead, he keeps talking, wanting to finally get this off of his chest. He knew he barely knew the guy, but Lance was the best option right now. Taking another deep breath, he speaks again. "I'm a monster, and there is no denying that fact. You've head of Shinji Yukaro...the guy from Takiyoka Tokyo who survived...sur...survived..." He felt his chest tighten. He couldn't go on. "I'm sorry...so sorry...please, help me..." His voice was forced, his words a whisper. As much as he wanted to tell someone...he couldn't. Without even thinking about it, he throws himself at Lance, and begins to sob, pressing his face into the other's chest. "Please! Make them all go away...Len...make those stupid memories! The nightmares..." His whole body shook, and he couldn't control his crying anymore.

Killed his brother?

After running through his head he found the match of the name, Lance had been in Europe when the incident of SAO occurred and a few survived Shinji was one of them. Lance grew serious as be began to understand.

'Dead brother, blaming parents, not the best atmosphere'

"Please! Make them all go away...Len...make those stupid memories! The nightmares..."

...Len?! Lance froze and looked down at Shinji with a questioning look... only his mother (aunt) called him Len how could this kid...? brushing that though off.

Lance quickly grabbed the boy and lifted his up so he was sitting on the bed and hugged him tightly.

he laughed softly "Listen to me Shinji, doctors don't do this, but I'm nice yes?" he stayed un-moving from the embrace "I was in Europe when that happened therefore I can't imagine your terror and pain, but that was not your fault how could you prevent such a thing, you not saving your brother was never your fault, did you know that Shinji?"

"Such things could have never been expected, such things were not meant to happen and everyone there suffered. But Shinji it says you lived but in reality you did not, so then what are you doing? what are you living for? Because you lived you should not be sad you should be proud to wear your scars of a survivor and carry your brother on"

Lance hugged slightly tighter " You brother will always be with you, humans carry their loved ones in their heart, you have not failed him because you have never forgotten him, therefore young man live, live for yourself, live for your brother and live for the simple fact that someone gave you that chance not to be wasted"

Shinji gasps slightly when Lance pulls him up, and then embraces him tightly. He listens to Lance, to his comforting words, to his kind voice. It helped, so much, to finally have someone who was willing to hold him, as if he wasn't some sort of disease, but as the hurt, broken, and heart shattered young man he was. It was a comfort, to have such kind words spoken to him, not the words of someone who only felt disgust and disappointment towards him.

He drinks in Lance's words as if he were parched of water, wanting to believe everything that he was told. He tightens his grip on the back of Lance's shirt, his knuckles white, his fingers going numb. He could feel as Lance held him tighter, and that made Shinji feel, for the first time in a long time, the feeling that he was actually cared for. He felt so much gratitude towards Lance at that moment, glad he'd met this kind man.

After Lance had finished, Shinji simply held on to him, not wanting to let go. His eye lids felt heavy, his whole body was like a brick, he was exhausted; mentally and physically. Eventually the tears slow, and his breathing becomes less painful, his shaking ceases, and he finally falls asleep, his arms loosening from around Lance, his head resting gently on Lance's chest. He murmurs in his sleep. "Don't... leave..." For once he felt at ease, calm. All thanks to Lance.

Lance began to fell for this boy, it was something deep not pity or worry, it was that feeling of freshness you receive after a long nap. It was the feeling that something greater was happening between them, something inexplicable and unknown.

As Shinji let his last words out he became soft and loose, sleep had finally taken him. It was approximately 5 in the morning and due to Lance's strong endurance he was more awake than ever. He placed the younger boy back on the bed and noticed his fever had completely left him. Lance smiled as he began to think of a way to deeply help him.

-----------------------------------------------------

After of hours of paper work and constant checking on Shinji. Lance managed to finish his strategic plan now he needed to introduce it to the younger boy and hope he agreed... although perhaps sometime might be necessary.

Come downstairs when you're awake, don't worry I haven't left you.

said the note that stood itself next to the nightstand were Shinji was. Lance found himself for the first time in a very long time making breakfast in his kitchen.
