Shido92
Name: Shido Oraclune Gender: Male Age: 18 Ability: Oracle (Uses light and dark magic and has the ability to summon spirits) Personality: Playful, careless, insensitive, and always hides his feelings ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There was a time when both mankind and spirits lived in harmony. But as always, all good things are bound to come to an end. In an innocent accident, a spirit met a young human and fell in love with her. Blinded by that love, he took her to the source of energy of the spirits. When the human saw the source of energy, she betrayed her beloved and led the humans to it. The humans demanded that the spirits share their source of power with the humans. The spirits agreed on the condition that mankind doesn't use it for slaughter. Mankind honored their promise but not for so long. After a few years, some of the humans played with a type of magic that was like no other. And that type of dark and twisted magic was called "Demonology". This new magic allowed them to call upon dark creatures that were named “Demons”. They used these creatures to fight with one another in a struggle for power. Finally, five grand demonologists decided to summon the strongest and most intelligent of demons, Kazak Murlek. The summoners believed that the demon will give them power and control over the land, but they were dead wrong. Once the demon was summoned, he tricked his masters and murdered them one after the other until only one of them remained. In a desperate attempt to save mankind, the last summoner seeked the help of the spirits in order to seal off the demons. But to do that, they would have to destroy their source of magic. After sealing off the demons with the power of both the human and the spirits, the humans were enraged and banished the spirits from their home. The spirits were glad to be apart from the humans, but as effective as their method of sealing the demons away was, it was not without flaw. Every one thousand years, the portal would have to be re-sealed. So in order to protect the humans and themselves, the spirits decided to send an oracle every one thousand years in order to protect the humans and seal the demonic portal. A descendant of the last summoner would guard the oracle and they would produce a child whose bloodline would produce the second guardian. The seal can only be closed by the powers of both oracle and guardian. The cycle continued for several generations until an unfortunate event occurred. After five thousand years, the guardian that was born was a male and not a female. And the problem was that a male couldn't possibly bear a child with anoth. Due to this disturbing news, the spirits saw that there is no choice but to kill the demons and the idea of sealing the portal was considered impossible. The only way to vanquish the demons without re-sealing the portal was destroying their leader “Kazak Murlek”. After his defeat, the demons will not have enough power to cross from the underworld to the world of the humans. So, the eight major spirits "Lunis (light), Danis (Dark), Celis (Wind), Melis (Nature), Lucis (Fire), Ecis (Water), Feris (Earth), and Veris (Lightning) got together and gave the chosen a gift from each spirit. The gift they bestowed him with was necessary in order for the chosen to defeat “Kazak Murlek”. That gift was the ability to summon them after paying a visit to their old shrines back in the land of the humans. The spirits tried to train the oracle until he was 18 but the kid was too playful, arrogant, and spoiled as well. As for the guardian, he was harshly trained and completed feats that were impossible to any other human. But no matter how strong he became the people didn’t accept him because he can’t bring forth the powers of their ancestors, and because he isn’t able to produce a child with the oracle, a child that will carry on their family's tradition. After extensive training, the guardian is sent to the place where the ritual of awaiting will occur, the ritual in which the oracle will arrive and both shall meet for the first time. The oracle was afraid of everyone's high expectations, and of the pressure the spirits have given him. The guardian waits while dressed in white robes with his family insignia embroidered all around it. While the oracle readies himself for transportation, clothed in a dark robe with the names of the grand spirits stitched to it. All of the people are waiting and the oracle's arrival is imminent. Finally a ray of light appears from above and shoots down, cracking the very earth! The oracle emerges half buried in dirt and says, "Well, so much for a grand entrance”. The villagers, surprised by the sight of magic, stared at the oracle like he was a different kind of species. But he looked just like any other human, except for long ears that were from his half-spirit side. He looked around and finally found what he was looking for. A person clothed in a white robe. He walked up to him, smiled, looked at a guard and said "Will you be a nice metal man and take this?". The oracle shoved a heavy weapon into the guard's hands and then extended his palm to the guardian, "Shido Oraclune, nice to meet you".
Noise Prince
Name: Soyen Yemirth Gender: Male, regrettably Age: 20 Ability: Guardian, uses healing and sound magic, has trained for many years to be accomplished with many weapons in preparation for wielding the legendary Noruke Personality: Compassionate, strong-willed, disciplined, somewhat guarded, honest ~~~ Soyen felt his heart pounding unforgivingly in his chest. He was the Guardian, born of the bloodline of many before him born and trained to serve the Oracle on the millennial quest to seal away the demon portal. Since he was born, he had been prepared for the task, and as soon as he could talk, he sore his oath. As soon as he was able, he was willing, and was trained relentlessly, expected to achieve inhuman feats. There was no more training to be done. He was standing before a great deal of villagers, as they all waited for the return of the Oracle- who was arriving here today. He had learned all he could, and now he was to greet the new Oracle and lead him on their journey. But since he was born, while he bore the title of Guardian, he was a disappointment. It was no secret, even on those who never voiced it, Soyen could feel the disappointment in their eyes and dripping off their calculated words- as if speaking condolences. He wasn't just nervous of the arduous quest ahead of them, he didn't fear for the threats or tasks that would likely push him past his limits. He was nervous to disappoint the Oracle. He was unsure if the Oracle knew who he was, and if his Guardian was a man. If he wasn't aware, it would be a gruesome surprise, no doubt. Soyen had prepared his whole life to meet the Child of Oraclune, and it was his disappointment he knew would cut him deepest. But he stood tall, proud to wear the white robes adorned with his family's insignia, awaiting his master's arrival to this world. The air suddenly felt thick, and everyone immediately hushed themselves. It was starting. Soyen looked up to the sky, and a large beam of light, unnatural to this realm, struck down into the earth. Many villagers gasped, tumbling over themselves as the ground shattered, and shook, but Soyen stood steady, not taking his eyes off the spot. The light faded, but he couldn't see the Oracle. His breath got stuck in his throat. Was everything wrong? Because he was a man- even the Oracle's entrance had to go wrong? But as the light completely faded, he could see a figure emerging from the rubbles of dirt, and the breath stuck in Soyen's throat escaped in a relieved sigh. He was here. He was here. The villagers started to murmur to themselves once more as the Oracle stepped into view. He was a beautiful man, who had an imposing figure and emanated power. Soyen locked eyes with the Oracle when he noticed him, dressed in his white ceremonious robes. He then remembered himself, and averted his gaze. His chest felt hollow, as his heart beat seemed to echo inside of him. Was the Oracle prepared to meet a man? Or would this be a fresh disappointment? His eyelids lowered, Soyen stood tall as the Oracle approached him. He was surprised when he was suddenly handed a silver, light object. But it wasn't light, it was heavy, his body reacted as if he had something heavy had been pushed to him. Yet, in his grasp, it felt light. His eyes widened as he looked over the thick, brutish weapon. It was Noruke… It took him a moment more to realize the Oracle had introduced himself, and looked up, a bit surprised to be greeted so pleasantly, as if he weren't a man. Soyen took his hand gently, and knelt before him, lowering his head. "Soyen Yemirth, my lord." He replied, trying to keep his voice from shaking. Shido92
"Ah!", said the oracle as his hand was taken by the guardian and he knelt so effortlessly. It was more agility than Shido could muster, that was for sure. But really? Kneeling? The man introduced himself while the oracle tried to yank his hand away but didn't seem to be able to. Looking up he saw a huge bunch of humans staring, and they all knelt. "Oh crap now look what you did! Get up!", said Shido as he grabbed Soyen's arm and pulled him to stand next to him. He looked back at the crowd and gestured for them to stand up, "Get up people, thats it, there we go, much better". The people began to stand up, making the oracle sigh with relief. The mayor approached him with a smile and a deep bow. It was so weird! Why were people bowing to him? Lunis never said anything about this, he would have a long talk with the spirit of light. "Oracle it is an honour to be in your presence. Please join us in a feast to celebrate your arrival", said the mayor with a smile. Shido was a little tired, but it felt wrong to refuse the hospitality of such kind people. "I'd be honoured", said the oracle before he was lead to a table with three seats. Shido sat on the middle seat, the one on his left was for his guardian, and the one on his right was for the mayor. The festivities began and meats were placed in front of the oracle. He tried a piece and almost spat it out. Turning to his guardian, Shido began to talk to the man and ask him a series of questions. "How are you, Soyen?", started the blonde. "For future reference just call me Shido and if you want to say hello I accept kisses and handshakes", continued the oracle in a teasing manner. Noise Prince
Soyen was surprised by Shido's reaction, gasping bit when he pulled him up from his kneeling position. He saw the crowd, surprised that they had started kneeling as well. He was taught to show the Oracle a great respect at all times, since his role was assisting him. Plus, Soyen knew he would have to compensate when he met Shido, and didn't expect anyone to follow his lead. Though it seemed fitting, as the Oracle was vital to the survival of the world. But Shido hurriedly motioned for them to rise just as quickly as he had pulled Soyen up. He frowned, had he caused Shido so much trouble already? He wasn't aware that he should have acted differently, the priests who prepared him told him to avoid eye contact and kneel before him. Before he could muster an apology, the two of them were approached by the mayor of the village, even if he avoided looking at the guardian. But he understood, this wasn't uncommon for Soyen, so he really didn't think much of it. He followed Shido silently as they were led to a banquet celebrating the Oracle's arrival. He took his seat besides Shido after the Oracle had taken his, folding his hands on the table. The guardian was surprised that Shido was speaking with him, sure he'd rather be talking to the mayor. "I'm doing well." He responded, with a light smile. "I am very happy to finally meet you, and I hope I can serve you well during our time together." But when he asked him to call him by his first name, Soyen's smile dropped, and he looked down to the table. "I-I couldn't be so informal…" He insisted softly. "And I'm sorry for causing you any inconvenience. That really wasn't my intention. I will be more wary in the future." He stopped himself from referring to him as 'my lord', since he clearly disliked it, though he couldn't bring himself to call him 'Shido'.
Shido92
The guardian seemed to calm down a little after Shido had told him to take it down a notch, but it was still too formal for the oracle. When he said that he was doing fine, Soyen had the most lovely smile on his face that showed he was starting to ease up. The oracle smiled back, but then sighed as the guardian starting talking about serving him. In the spirit world, nobody served anyone. They were all free and took care of themselves, and whenever two depended on one another they called what was between them a partnership. "Again with the serving Soyen?", asked the blonde before his guardian started to freak out because he couldn't call the oracle by his name. It was enough that Shido had to kill the lord of the demonic world, he didn't need the pressure of schooling his guardian on how to interact with him. "Listen Soyen, if you really want to help me you'll have to call me by name. Otherwise I will be completely unable to interact with you comfortably", requested the oracle with pleading blue eyes. He placed a hand on his guardian's lap and said the magic word, "Please...". The mayor suddenly decided to converse with Shido, and he interrupted the confirmation that the blonde waited for. "Oracle I wonder how the spirit realm is like, we have so many questions we would like to ask!", said the man with wonder in his eyes. "Then thank the spirits I don't have to answer any of them", said the Oracle with an earnest smile, leaving the mayor confused. He heard that the temple of Lucis was nearby, and despite the interesting festivities he really wanted to start his task. The quicker he was, the safer everyone would be, and the quicker he could go back home. "I heard that the temple of Lucis is here, can you take me there?", asked the oracle with his voice barely above a whisper. He spoke in the guardian's ear, not wanting the mayor to listen. The spirits had warned him of a faction calling themselves demo worshipers, vile humans that fought the oracle and his guardian in order to allow the return of the demon lord. They have been around for thousands of years, each time a different one taking a different form. Shido had to be careful of their spies, and probably his guardian would do the same. Noise Prince
Soyen's heart felt like it lit up when the Oracle smiled, a feeling that was quickly squelched when Shido sighed at his response. He really shouldn't have expected the Oracle to be impressed or like him right away, but he thought he was used to others disliking him soon after meeting him. But since it was the Oracle, it weighed quite a bit more. "I don't understand…" Soyen replied, a puzzled look on his face. "That's the role I've been trained for…" His puzzled face turned to one of dismay in response to Shido's light scolding, and leaned back a bit, mouth parted. Before he could reply, he felt the Oracle's hand on his lap, his rich blue eyes looking at him, but more surprising was the 'please', and he realized the scolding was more of a request. He put his hand on top of Shido's, about to reply when the mayor suddenly spoke up, and the guardian withdrew his hand, and his words. Soyen was a bit shocked at how short the Oracle was with the mayor! Though the mayor had interrupted and imposed onto him, surely, but it was an understandable statement. The Oracle only came once every thousand years. He might never see Shido again after they leave. He stood straight when Shido suddenly turned back to him, leaning close to whisper in his ear. He wanted to leave already? Soyen himself had barely eaten little over half his meal- though in fairness he ate plenty more than most people. "Of course, my lo-" He cleared his throat, stopping himself. "I can, Shido, at your ready." he whispered back. "Are you finished here?" The guardian asked. Shido92
Winking at the guardian, Shido turned to the mayor and placed one palm on his shoulder and the other on his arm. The mayor looked at the oracle with a red face, clearly not used to such a level of familiarity. "Would you mind terribly if my guardian escorts me to my sleeping chambers? I'm so tired and I could really use a goodnight's sleep", said Shido with batting eyelashes. It was a technique he used with the spirits who raised him to get out of nasty situations, or training. "But my lord you barely touched your food!", said the mayor, almost hurt. Looking at his food, Shido ate a pea and then looked back at the mayor, "You can make it up to me tomorrow". All the poor mayor could do was nod, since the oracle seemed determined to leave. Grabbing his guardian's wrist, Shido got off the table and walked away. He moved them away for a bit and then let go of Soyen's hand in order for the man to lead them. "Is the temple far? Will we need to ride something?", asked the oracle curiously. Noise Prince
Soyen blushed a bit when Shido winked at him, but he was much more flustered by the way he acted towards the mayor! The mayor was clearly surprised by the intimacy as well. Soyen didn't expect Shido to be at such an ease upon arriving to the human world- and act in such a way. And he was lying! He didn't plan on sleeping, did he? Of course, Soyen didn't say anything, and sat quietly as he ate a few more bites from his plate. Before he could respond, the Oracle wordlessly took Soyen wrist and led him away from the banquet. He looked over his shoulder, at the hoards of people enjoying the food and company, and couldn't help but feel proud at the celebration in honor of the Oracle, even if Shido didn't seem to enjoy it. "It's not very far. If we take horses, we can get there by sunset, most likely." Soyen told him, after judging the sun's position in the sky. "Are you sure you don't want to eat, though?" He asked him, concerned. "You've only just got here, it may not be healthy to start towards the temple on an empty stomach…" Urg... I missed my window to edit my first post to put up my finished picture... *groans* So I'm putting it here:
Shido92
At the mention of horses, Shido nodded thoughtfully and wondered where they could find some. He needed to find Lucis' temple as soon as possible, since the spirit of fire would be a true help to them. Not that the others wouldn't but Lucis was an excellent fighter. Should they ever face the demo-worshipers, they would be prepared to defend themselves. The guardian seemed a little worried about his oracle, and it was kind of sweet. Shido didn't need sweet however, he needed tough and butch. He needed someone to push him, because he was already a lazy little thing that would slack whenever he could. "I don't really eat much. Besides, we don't have time Soyen. We only have four weeks before the portal opens and all hell breaks loose, so we should make use of every minute we have", explained the oracle as they made their way to the stables. When they got there, the young man looked around thoughtfully and eventually found a nice black horse. "I want that one", said Shido as he simply grabbed the beast and took him out of his stall. He was half spirit, which meant that he had a certain affinity for animals. The creature seemed content to be guided by him out of the stables. "I'm just borrowing him, I'll bring him back when we're done...I think..." said the oracle without a trace of committing to what he said. He prepared the horse himself and eventually jumped on his back. "You ready handsome?", asked the oracle.
Noise Prince
Soyen had spoken with a stable keeper earlier, an elderly woman who seemed delighted at the idea that her horses could be used to assist in their quest. She insisted that if the Oracle wanted to ride horses, that he should ride her most trusted and beloved, a strong and beautiful chestnut mare. She assured him that he'd know which to take, that she was undeniably perfect. "There is a stable close to the direction we'll need to go." Soyen told Shido. Soyen sighed. "You're right… the sooner we go, the better." He agreed. "But it will be a while before we'll be able to have a good meal again, Shido." The guardian added. He was very surprised by the Oracle's personality. He expected to be greeted by an elegant, noble half-spirit. Shido definitely looked the part, to be sure, but he paid no mind to grace, and was very direct. Soyen would even dare to describe him as blunt. He led the Oracle further away from the festivities towards a well-kept stable. It had a large, lush pasture with a few foals and mothers grazing and galloping. None of them were the chestnut mare. Soyen opened the stable doors, light filtering in from high windows on a large stable of beautiful, healthy, capable horses. But Soyen was looking for a specific one. The elderly woman was right, there was no mistake. Soyen knew when he saw her, that this was the horse he was instructed to have Shido ride. He started to lead her from the stall, and was about to call to the Oracle when it seemed he had made his own decision. He was guiding a large black stallion from a stall not too far from him. "Ah, Shido… the stable-keeper assured me that this is her most trusted horse, and suggested that she be the one you take." He told him, though he had a suspicion that Shido wasn't one to second-guess himself. "Yes, yes, borrowing…" Soyen sighed. Shido almost sounded like he didn't care that there had been arrangements or not- that he would just take someone's horse. Before he could say another word, the Oracle had thrown himself onto the stallion. "I'm ready, yes." The guardian replied, stroking the mare's neck. He felt bad riding such a beautiful, dependable horse intended for the Oracle, but at least the old woman would assume it was the Oracle riding her. Besides, Shido might change his mind and take the mare later. He climbed onto her back, and gave Shido a nod.
Shido92
"See? You look so handsome riding her, it almost makes me want to ride in front of you", said the oracle with a wink before kicking his stallion to urge him into motion. He allowed Soyen to lead him, not knowing where the temple was and definitely not sure whether he wanted to rush into the place. Sure it was Lucis' temple but that crazy spirit was bound to have traps and contraptions in there. They rode in silence, the oracle's mind going through many things at once. He would need to meet with the king, explain to him that they needed to fortify the portal and defend it in case any demo-worshipers get funny ideas. They would definitely make a move to attempt to help the demons when they cross over, so the farther they are, the less enemies Shido will have to take care of. He also thought about the spirits' temples, they weren't close to one another, so he and Soyen will have to plan the best route to take in order to save time and gather all of the spirits. The guardian was right, it took them a while to reach the temple, but they did make it there. The place was massive, and Shido was shocked to see statues of the fire spirit carved. It seemed so old, yet so well taken care of. Getting off of his horse, he began to make his way into the temple. The interior was just beautiful, with multiple places for people to sit and pray, and red glazed windows that probably looked marvellous in the morning. A strike of nostalgia hit the young oracle as he remembered the meditation chambers back in the spirit realm. It was too early for such feelings, but they came nonetheless. As they both walked towards the altar, Shido began to look around and eventually found a golden rectangle placed on each side of the altar. Placing his hands on both rectangles, the oracle's eyes glowed white and the altar began to move aside to reveal a staircase. "You ready to meet the grand spirit of fire?", he asked to guardian. In a dark castle where the interior just screams creepy, a beautiful woman sat on a throne with purple flags at her side. Her hair was raven black and she wore a beautiful purple dress befitting a royal. Her nails dribbled on the arm of the throne while her eyes narrowed at the distance, she just looked quite un-patient. A man clothed in purple robes walked in and knelt before speaking, "Dark Lady, the oracle has arrived. He is currently having a banquet at the Town of Semur. The guardian is with him as well". The woman's eyes snapped open before her face was made more beautiful with a smile. "Excellent, it is time for us to act then. Send a message to the group of assassins at Baha'al Moore. They are bound to head there and it is custom for the oracle to stay there at the king’s castle", instructed the Dark Lady. The man seemed to want to say something, but was hesitant. "WHAT?", screamed the dark lady, and her beautiful face became twisted by anger. "W...Why not kill them at Semur my lady?", asked the purple robed man after falling to the ground in fear. The Dark Lady snorted, "Semur is not safe for us. It is that bitch Lucis' terrain and I will not choose to battle there willingly". The spirits were clearly not in power anymore, but their temples had certain protectors that she didn't want to chance meeting. "Understood my lady, by your leave", answered the man obediently. The gorgeous woman's face returned to it's original state, and she waved the man away, "You are excused". Once the man was gone, the woman rose from her seat and walked behind her throne. As she moved, she spoke to herself, the wicked smile returning on her lips. "Finally! I have gathered the largest number of recruits for this! We will prevail this time and the demon lord will rise again!", said the Dark Lady before laughing in the empty throne room.
Noise Prince
Soyen thought the Oracle was just trying to be kind when he called him handsome, but now he thought he had another motive teasing him like that. Shido suddenly burst into motion, and Soyen urged his mare to do the same, gradually surpassing him to take the lead, slowing down to a more even pace. It was a silent ride for a good many hours. Soyen was concerning himself with constantly checking their surroundings, to make sure they were taking the path he had planned, and to make sure no demo-worshippers or clueless bandits caught them off guard. His hand would occasionally dieted to the hilt of Noruke, who had decided to be a dagger, likely for convienance, to feel the cool surface. It was oddly calming, but motivating. He could feel the power of the ancient weapon through the touch. It was surreal to be reunited with the weapon of his ancestors, to finally be able to wield the weapon he trained so hard to use adequately. He hoped he didn't disappoint. He would also look behind him to make sure Shido was alright. Soyen also thought of the various obstacles this journey would offer would offer. He was certain he could handle it, as he knew so long as it wasn't fatal, he'd be able to heal himself, that's wasn't what he was concerned with. The healing process was rather gruesome, and he'd rather not have Shido see, if Soyen ever got seriously injured. But he was also afraid of his inattention or s slip up might bring Shido harm. He wasn't ever one to afford carelessness, but he absolutely could not allow it of himself now that he was with Shido. The sun had started to dip as they saw the great temple before them. It was sunset by the time they reached the entrance. Soyen's heart skipped a beat at it's massive scale, and the beautiful carvings and art all around them. He tied the horses' reigns together to a narrow rock made for such a purpose, though he had a feeling the horses had no intention of leaving the Oracle. "Ah, wait- be careful!" Soyen warned, hastily finishing the knot, and following after him. Though he couldn't blame him for wanting to go inside. It was so ornate, and beautiful. Thousands of people must have joined here in prayer. Weak sunlight filtered through the glass windows, giving everything a surreal glow. Reaching the altar took little more effort than walking down the long aisle, and he followed the Oracle closely, watching silently as he approached the altar. If there was any doubt of Shido's ethereal features, they couldn't withstand the sight of the powerful glow in his eyes as he activated an ancient switch to open the secret passage of stairs. He gave the Oracle a determined nod. "Always, my- Shido." Soyen replied, with a smile, hand resting on Noruke.
Shido92
When the guardian accidentally said "My Shido", the oracle held his arm and winked. "You surprise me guardian, so informal", teased Shido before letting go and making his way down the steps. As they moved, the torches began to light up, sensing that the oracle was nearby. He was so excited that his heart began to beat a little too quickly for his liking, it meant that he wasn't calm, and when Shido wasn't calm he tended to screw things up. He seemed to only get worse the more he went deeper, and when they reached the bottom of the stairs, the young man took a deep breath. He looked at his guardian to make sure he was with him and continued walking to a circle of magma on the wall. The circle was in fact a pool of some sorts, a pool that was hoisted on the wall. "Alright, just stay away until I'm done", said the oracle. With that, he closed his eyes and took a deep breath. As soon as Shido opened his lips, a gorgeous sound was heard. It was so different, so beautiful, so feminine yet masculine that it bewildered the listener. The young man chanted without stopping for ten whole minutes, and his body began to give way. He began to sweat at first, and then his legs began to shake before he fell to his knees. No matter what happened, he kept chanting. Finally, the magma started moving and formed a body in front of the oracle. The body was completely formed, but as soon as it was, it launched it self at the still chanting Shido. Noise Prince
Soyen groaned lightly out of embarrassment, his cheeks heating up. He's the one who wanted him to call him by name, right? yet when he tried to adjust, he made fun of him. "My apologies, I'll revert to calling on you only as 'my lord'." The guardian replied with a sour teasing in his voice. He followed the Oracle closely as the torches lit in his presence, his eyes having to quickly adjust and scan for any threats as bit by bit, the steps were revealed to him. His heart was pounding. The first temple, the first spirit… it was happening so soon- so fast. He had been waiting for this day his entire life, every moment of his life had been used to prepare him for moments like this. He noticed Shido's breathing, wondering if he was nervous, as well. The idea was a little amusing to him. He had assumed that he'd be perfectly poised and prepared, but he needed to calm himself with a deep breath once he stepped off the last step of the stairs. Of course, Soyen could hardly feel more prepared, and followed suit with his own slow inhale. He gave the Oracle a smile, and strong nod when he looked back at him. There was little he could do with him now. They approached a vast amount of magma suspended on the wall, though Soyen stayed a few feet back out of respect to the relationship between Oracle and Spirit. "Yes, sir." He replied quietly, his voice carrying easily in the silence. Soyen looked around a bit, for good measure, before turning his attention back to Shido as the Oracle began to call upon the first Spirit- Lucis, Spirit of Fire. Soyen knew little about the ritual, as he had little part in it other than to be present. He certainly didn't expect that voice to suddenly fill the room, that ancient, beautiful song echoing through his chest. It was a song that time was lost in, the guardian in a complete trance, absorbed by the beautiful song of the Oracle. He even faltered in his observances, and didn't notice the strain it had on the Oracle's body until he was visibly shaking. Suddenly the song didn't have the guardian at such peace. What was he to do? He had no idea that this might happen, or if he could do anything. He wasn't prepared. But Shido told him to stay there while he did it. He was panicking- Shido fell to his knees! Soyen wouldn't even be able to heal him at this distance- if that could be of use at all. He couldn't sing in his place. He couldn't even approach him and hold his body, or support him while he chanted. He hoped it would just end soon. And it looked like it might be- a form similar to a human body started to form before the Oracle as he chanted his ancient music. Soyen felt relieved, was this the spirit, then? Surely Lucis would be able to help him. But the body was formed- Shido was still chanting. Why was that, the Spirit was here- why keep chanting? Something was wrong, and he was standing here uselessly. The magmas body lunged towards the Oracle, trembling and chanting on the floor. Soyen was airborne, closing the distance between him and the Oracle with one great leap, drawing out Noruke. The living weapon expanded into a shield as Soyen threw himself between the newly formed being and the immobile Shido, bracing himself for the impact. Shido92
As the magma made its way towards the oracle, the guardian intercepted it quite bravely. Instead of directly hitting Soyen, the magma split and then entered Shido's body through his ears, his nose, his mouth, and through the entrance of his bottom from beneath the robes. The sound of chanting was suddenly stopped, and as the magma entered him, the oracle wore a peaceful expression of relief. While the magma entered him, his body glowed red, and so did his eyes. When it was finally over, he let out a sigh and fell to the ground with his arms extended to Soyen. He hoped the guardian would catch him and prevent a rather nasty fall. The oracle felt tired, out of breath, and half dead. "Oh...oh lady of the undying flame...come forth and burn my enemies to cinder", said Shido with glowing red eyes. A sudden sphere of fire appeared in front of him and the guardian, and slowly it got bigger until it exploded and Lucis emerged. "Its about time...", said Shido weakly. "Whoa...you look like crap", said the spirit without any hint of shame. She walked towards the oracle and looked at the guardian with disapproval. "Are you the nasty thing that stepped in front of me? Do you have a death wish?", asked the major spirit of fire. "He was trying to protect me Lucis, back off", said Shido as he kissed his guardian's cheek. Lucis knelt and checked the oracle to make sure he really was fine. "Didn't you tell him to stand away?", mumbled the spirit. Nodding, Shido felt his head spin. "You need to rest, don't move him. Stay here, there are sleeping chambers beyond the magma circle, just take him there and let him rest until tomorrow", instructed Lucis. "Lucis...we haven't-", said the oracle before he was interrupted. "We'll talk more when you're better, you're too weak to talk now", reasoned the spirit. With that, Shido smiled and sent her away with a simple word, "Dismiss". Lucis burst into flames and eventually disappeared, leaving nothing behind her but smoke. Trying to get up, Shido felt his head spin and was barely able to stand with the help of Soyen. In the place of the circular magma on the wall was an entrance to sleeping chambers. They were lavishly furnished with a bed and side tables made of gold as well as other expensive things. This was Lucis' hope once upon a time, and it was still extremely clean and spotless. Noise Prince
The impact never came, and Soyen saw that the being split apart, and circle around him and entered Shido through multiple entrances. Soyen grunted in dismay, and tried to will Noruke into a sword, dagger, axe- anything sharp to try to cease some of the flow- but the weapon remained a shield, unyielding to the wishes of the inexperienced guardian. Noruke knew something Soyen didn't after all. He resorted to using his hands to try to grab it, foolishly thinking it wasn't too hot to even to too close to. The smell of his burning skin reached his nose before he registered the pain. It took little effort for him to have his skin heal over it- but it took long enough that the unknown being had completely entered inside Shido- who he was supposed to protect. His body started to glow red- his eyes filled with the hot crimson- so hot Soyen could barely look at him without his eyes watering. The chanting stopped, and Shido didn't seem to be in pain or distress at all. This did nothing to soothe Soyen's fears, though. As the Oracle fell, one hand caught the back of his head, as if to cradle it, the other around his shoulders, and pulled him up, tightly holding him to his chest. Something was wrong, but what could he do now? He felt Shido's hot breath through his clothes as the Oracle spoke, and loosened his hold. He was calling upon the spirit! Maybe Lucis could help them! He was amazed that Shido had the strength to do so in his state. A great ball of fire suddenly appeared- the entire room lit up and became densely hot. Soyen flinched, covering his eyes, using his body to shield Shido when it burst, looking only when the great figure of Lucis the Fire Spirit emerged from it. Soyen was dumbfounded, finally in the presence of the esteemed spirit. While he was in no position to kneel, supporting the Oracle in his arms, he lowered his head to her. "Your gr-grace," He mumbled, his voice a little hoarse. Even in this weak state, Shido had no sense of respectability, the way he talked to Lucis, and the guardian felt ashamed for him, his cheeks growing even warmer than the room. The second-hand embarrassment was nothing compared to how he felt when Lucis looked down upon him, with such disdain in her smoldering eyes, scolding him for his reckless actions. "F-forgive me, your grace, I-I" before he could explain himself, Shido defended him. He hummed a little, surprised that he was even given a kiss, on top of everything! He would later blame the heat and brightness of the flame, but his eyes watered, as Shido was kind to him even now. Her brilliance was almost too great, and Soyen averted his gaze as she knelt down to inspect the Oracle leaning against his body. "Yes, your grace," Soyen replied, nodding to her instructions. She vanished with the promise that they would speak the next day. The guardian took the Oracle's arm and placed it over his shoulder, so he could lean against him, his hip supporting the weakened half-spirit. He could barely appreciate the luxurious treasures awaiting them in the resting chambers. Soyen hoped the horses would be alright staying outdoors, though he knew that they would be warm on the holy grounds of the Fire Spirit. He led Shido to the bed, and helped him lay down on the sole bed of the room. It was large enough for the two to share, and Soyen eased himself onto the other side, trying not to disturb the Oracle. He stacked pillow against the headboard so he could lean against it comfortably as he slept. He needed to sleep sitting upright so he could keep guard as he slept, even though he knew they'd be safe. Soyen slept with his eyes open, so he would wake up at the sign of danger. It looked like the Oracle was asleep, that didn't take long… though he was very weak from the ritual. Soyen clenched his fists, leaning back against his pillows. What could he have done differently? Aside from attacking the fire spirit- and what a fool he was for that!- he didn't know what he could have done differently to help Shido. "I'm sorry, my lord…" He whispered softly, as he drifted off to sleep, his eyelids frigidly open. ~~~ As sun filtered in, the light was enough to wake Soyen up, though it was very early in the morning. He looked beside him at the Oracle, asleep beside him. He gently touched his arm, thankful that the Oracle had been so kind to him, since they first met, even when he drew a weapon against the spirit he had summoned. Soyen felt horrible that he hadn't been able to do any good the day before. He really knew a lot less than he thought he did. He wondered when Lucis wished to meet with them. Or rather, the Oracle. He doubted she wanted to see the guardian again, unless it was to berate him further or to set him on fire. It was still early, perhaps she, too, was enjoying her slumber. Shido92
To say that the oracle slept like a baby would be an understatement. He didn't wake up for water or to relieve himself, which was usually the case since the spirits never taught him to do those things before sleeping. When he did wake up however, he felt dry and dehydrated, his throat painful as he spoke, "Soyen...water...". Shido looked around the room once more and winced at the shiny gold that hurt his eyes. He got up and felt his body just like it was, fresh and good to go. It seemed that bringing forth the spirits and opening their doorway to this realm would leave him vulnerable for a day, which wasn't a comforting fact. Shido waited for the water and drank it all at once. "Huh...thank you", said the oracle to the guardian with a smile. He got up and stretched, feeling extremely exhausted. His eyes went to an arch on the far end of the room. Shido walked towards it curiously and went through it, eventually finding himself in front of a hot spring. "Soyen...", said the oracle as he began to undress. He was used to getting baths every morning, but the spirits told him not to expect that since he would be constantly traveling. Which meant that he would used every opportunity he had, just like this one. Shido dipped his toe into the hot water and submerged himself into it with a sigh. "Oh this is beautiful...", whispered the blonde as he turned to see if the guardian had come or not.
Noise Prince
Soyen watched the Oracle as he started to stir. He himself had gotten out of bed in order to stretch a bit, taking advantage of the silent time where he had nothing else to do. So he stepped over to Shido's bedside, in case he needed assistance. He had been significantly weakened due to the burden of summoning Lucis, the great spirit of fire. "Yes, right away," Soyen went and retrieved water from the fountain-like basin in the room, filling a cup and bringing it to the Oracle, handing it to him. He watched as he quickly gulped it all down, turning the brim to his lips and upside down. "You're welcome, Shido." Soyen replied, smiling, hoping this meant that he was feeling better. He took the cup from him and placing it in the basin where he had found it. "I haven't heard from Lucis this morning, so I think we-" He started, but he turned around and Shido started heading towards an archway on the other side of the room, a direction Soyen wasn't familiar with. "W-wait, we don't know what's down there." Soyen tried to tell him, to no avail. He quickly grabbed Noruke and followed the Oracle, following him into an indoor hot springs. This temple had such lavish adornments, but the hot springs was easily the most inviting. Perhaps it was less intimidating to him because this room wasn't covered in gold or jewels, but simple paint and a few reliefs in the walls. He had little time to appreciate it, however, as the Oracle began to undress. Soyen stifled a surprised sound between clenched teeth, turning his head, allowing the Oracle privacy as he entered the steamy waters.
Shido92
Shido arched an eyebrow when the guardian turned around, a little surprised at the reaction. Didn't human men usually indulge in such pleasures like hot springs together? He felt a little hurt that Soyen didn't want to spend time with him, it was as though he was too much to be around. Sure the oracle was high maintenance but he didn't want people to steer away from him because of that. "Oh come on Soyen join me, thats an order!", said Shido, urging the guardian to join him until he finally agrees. He wanted to share such moments with Soyen, it would let them know each other better and eventually make them a good team. A smile crossed Shido's face and he winked at the guardian suddenly, "I promise I'll be good". He waited for the guardian to join him and made sure that they sat next to each other. He was told that a guardian and his oracle have a certain bond, but in his case they were rather quite incompatible. "Tell me Soyen, how was it growing up as a guardian? Did you also go through lessons and boring sessions where they tell you to focus because the balance of the world hung in your hans?", asked Shido with multiple hand gestures. He felt the pressure, and sometimes it prevented him from sleeping. It was nice to know that someone else would share that weight with him, but wondered if Soyen was even ready to do that. The oracle has been told all his life that he would kill Kazak Murlek, that he would save the human and spiritual realm, but he wondered if any of that was in fact true. Noise Prince
Soyen's face was flushed, and he became intensely fascinated with staring at random directions, as if some enemy or trap would randomly spring forth. A hot spring like this wasn't something he expected to come across during their travels, so he didn't consider what he ought to do. He supposed that if he wasn't needed or wanted in the conversation Lucis wanted to have with the Oracle, he could take a quick wash then. He didn't expect Shido to call him in with him. The guardian turned to look at him, the color in his face significantly darker now. He could hardly refuse the naked Oracle when he outright said it was an order, could he? Besides… he really could use a bath. "What were you planning on doing that was 'bad'…?" He asked, more to himself than anything. He wasn't avoiding sharing a bath with him because of anything the Oracle had done, not at all… Soyen started to disrobe, using his clothes to cover his front, unashamed in his embarrassment, as he made his way to the edge of the waters. He dropped his clothes in a heap by his feet, using only his hand- the other was still carrying Noruke- before he was able to submerge in the water. He placed the weapon at arm's reach besides them before he took a seat besides the Oracle. His discomfort faded when Shido asked about his upbringing. "Ah, well, yes, or something similar." He said, with a peaceful smile. "I wouldn't say any of my training was 'boring', though. I was always challenging my limits, so I was never bored." He stretched his arms out in front of him. "It felt like I was reminded daily the importance of the task." He said with a chuckle. "Especially when I was very young, and I was too little to really understand it all. I tended to get punished a lot, since I was a bit of a brat and rebelled against working so hard." He leaned against the edge of the bath. "I can't imagine it compares to the pressures put on you, of course, so I shouldn't complain." Soyen stated. "I'm sure I've made your life quite difficult…"
Shido92
Shido listened intently, his eyes showing a kind understanding to what the guardian went through. He looked at the form of Lucis thoughtfully and began remembering his own ordeal. "You have the right to complain, at least to me anyway" replied Shido as his eyes focused on a gold statue of the fire spirit. On his fifth birthday, Shido was taught light magic. He was forced into hours of meditation by Lunis. He had cried for hours, begged to be let out of the meditation chamber. But no matter how much he cried, they wouldn't let him out. They constantly told him he was supposed to carry out his purpose, and so he had to do as they expected of him. At ten he had to learn dark magic, which was extremely straineous on the mind. "You didn't make my life difficult Soyen. You and I...we're two people that were born for a certain purpose", said the oracle with sudden sadness. His eyes were filled with emotions that he could never show to anyone else. "I always hoped that if I help people and save them, I'll maybe try things that they usually do", explained the oracle. "Have a job, make friends, fall in love...", continued Shido thoughtfully. He looked at his hands and all he saw was a machine of war. Once he was done saving and protecting, he would be needed no more. "Sorry about that...I'm usually not so gloomy", finished the blonde with an apologetic expression. Noise Prince
Soyen was a little surprised by the gentle look in Shido's eyes as he spoke. The Oracle's training was no doubt a greater ordeal because the seal couldn't be sealed- but the demonic lord destroyed. And that was the guardian's fault. The Oracle had to be prepared to do something no other before him had to. And that was because of Soyen. He carried not only the burden of the guardian growing up, but the responsibility of atoning for being a man. He expected the Oracle to tolerate his presence, not show him this sort of understanding. "Thank you," Soyen replied, following his gaze to a large statue resembling Lucis. It was the only gold in the room, and it was massive. She was poised, at the ready, her face was calm, but determined, facing off an unseen foe. He felt a stab in his gut when the reality sank in… that Shido would be able to summon her after this, and that they'd be fighting alongside each other. Soyen had really looked forward to that, despite him scolding himself for looking forward to combat, but since she disliked him, any interaction was going to be rather sour. How disappointing… that seemed to be the theme of his life, so perhaps it was fitting. He was surprised by the melancholy of the Oracle's tone. He hadn't heard in speak with such sadness before, and despite that his words made him happy. Soyen had considered Shido, the Oracle, to be this untouchable, unreachable figure, and his role was necessary only because of the importance of the Oracle. He knew that the part of the guardian was to be taken seriously, and revered, and was vital to the Oracle's success, he always felt his role would be secondary, and since he couldn't bear a child, they could never be equals. So to hear him say something like that, to imply they were the same, two people born for that purpose, was a self-percieving alteration. He had also had the understanding that his existence complicated everything to such a degree that a tradition thousands of years old would have to cease, and a near-impossible quest would be necessary to save the world from being devoured by demons. Yet Shido was still kind enough to say that Soyen didn't make things difficult for him. He didn't understand why he was being so kind to him. The guardian, almost without realizing, reached a hand and rested it on the Oracle's half-submerged shoulder gingerly, and offered him a small smile. "You're not acting gloomy at all," he replied. "That sounds like a wonderful plan when all this is over." Soyen himself didn't have any plans when this was over, and in some ways he dreaded it. It was a terrible feeling to know that your one purpose in life, your entire life's work lead up to one event, and it was only four weeks long. It was an incredibly vital and respected duty, to be sure, but after that… he didn't have anything to do after. If he were a woman, he would raise their child once all was done and through. But that was not possible for him. But… he knew that no one at the temple where he was raised and trained really expected him to return home once all was complete. But, if Shido chose to stay in the human world instead of returning to the spirit world right away, perhaps he could help him, if he'd have him. He was quite fond of the Oracle, perhaps out of his selfish neediness for the Oracle's baseless kindness, and wouldn't mind if they could be together even after the demon lord was defeated. Shido92
Shido didn't really mind the hand that was placed on his shoulder, he simply looked at the guardian and smiled. He was never good at talking about how he felt, another excuse for his brash and uncommon behaviour. They sat in there for a while, letting the hot water wash away any ache that sleep couldn't relieve. Eventually Shido got up shamelessly, not even trying to cover himself up. He dried himself up with a sheet that didn't look it was meant for such a purpose, and began to wear his robes again. He didn't expect Soyen to get out, and he didn't wait. The oracle simply walked back to the room wordlessly and looked around. Lucis lives so lavishly, such was her way. She never settled for the simpler things like Melis and Feris, she craved gold and diamonds. "Quite the greedy little thing...", mumbled Shido as he looked at the treasures in the room. Softly, he began to chant while walking around. Flames began to appear from thin air and gathered to form a sphere of magma. Once the sphere was complete, Shido summoned forth Lucis, "Oh lady of the undying flame, come forth and burn my enemies to cinder, Lucis". The sphere erupted and from inside it came the fire spirit, with a flaming whip in hand this time. Her hair was pure flames and she war the armour of a female gladiator, her demeanour quite intimidating to all. "Don't you look better", said the spirit in surprise. Shido arched an eyebrow and went to sit on a lavish couch that looked like it wouldn't be comfortable at all, and he was right. The gold made for poor comfort, but being a spirit Lucis rarely sat or used such comforts. "I am, thanks for checking up on me", replied the oracle dryly. "Hey! It doesn't work that way and you know it punk! You summon me, not the other way around", replied Lucis defensively. Shido shook his head and smiled, "How is everyone?". The fire spirit seemed to feel like something was off, and went to sit next to Shido in order to get a better vibe from him. "They're fine...they know that you can do this", said Lucis in almost a gentle tone. She still had that loud angry gruffness in her voice. The oracle smiled an nodded, looking thoughtful, "I'll be seeing you around a lot I guess...". The spirit of fire shook her head in a sad manner and looked away, a little angry that she couldn't help him like she wanted to. "You can summon me to fight Shido but I'll be using your spiritual energies. It will tax you, so try to avoid summoning me unless its important. Besides, your light and dark magic are enough to protect you", finished the fire spirit as she placed an arm around the oracle. Shido looked at her and smiled, not showing his uncertainty. Noise Prince
Soyen smiled back, letting his hand slide off the Oracle's shoulder. He cupped the hot water in his hands and quickly washed his face, it almost stung, but it was soothing in a way, and he sunk a little further into the inviting waters. It was even more relaxing to be able to speak so openly about things he never really got to. Soyen wasn't exactly given a lot of freedom about the things he could discuss, especially not complaining. But suddenly Shido stood up, and Soyen let out a surprised sound, and looked away, blushing, not going so far as to cover his face, but enough of a gesture of turning his head to offer Shido the privacy he clearly didn't care about. He raised his eyes back when he thought the Oracle had plenty of time to redress himself, and saw him leaving the room. "Wait, my lo- Shido!" He called after him, splashing loudly as he immediately stood up and made his way to the steps, grabbing Noruke. He felt like he was calling 'wait' after Shido with no effect frequently lately. He hoped that this wasn't a trend, but that only made Soyen want to be more wary of Shido's location. He shouldn't be so inattentive that he nearly loses sight of him. He saw the wet spots on a decorative cloth, sighing a bit, finding an actual towel not too far from where that rested running it quickly over his skin, grabbing his clothes as he chased after the Oracle. (19) He was about to walk in when he heard Shido chanting, and he stood behind the wall, so he could barely see in, seeing he was summoning Lucis, and that he was likely not wanted. Soyen had to look away, his eyes watering, when she first appeared from the magma orb. Her appearance was more ferocious than the night before, a whip in hand, and wearing armor across her person, her form set aflame. Soyen silently dressed as he eavesdropped. The spoke so shortly with each other, yet with little malice. The tax of the Oracle's responsibility was a high one. For the spirits to be in this world required feeding off the Oracle's energy and concentration. Soyen frowned, at Lucis's words. Even if he intercepted her earlier, she must have some confidence in his abilities as the guardian to protect the Oracle, didn't she? But instead, she told Shido to rely on himself, and Soyen couldn't help but feel bitter. He hoped that Shido trusted him to protect him, at least.
