Ok here's my idea:

 

Welcome Home Solider

 

MC and YC has been the best of friends however YC had always thought MC was a girl due to his high pitched voice and feminine charms. MC never minded and actually liked it that way. One day YC had to move due to his father being in the military(can be any armed forces) and was being relocated countries away. MC is heartbroken but YC vows to come back when he becomes a man to make MC his bride leaving him with a small pink heart shaped pearl ring he had won in a department store contest, each having half the heart shape on a silver band. Sealed with a kiss under their favorite Sakura tree they part ways.

 

10 years later

 

YC is all grown up and had served a few years in the military(any armed forces). Seeing his term was up he knew he had became the man he had promised MC many years ago. With the ring piece proudly sported on his dog tags he packs up and high tails it back to his home country. Putting in word that he was returning he was sure to surprise MC at his welcome back party. Reuniting with everyone YC then realizes something was off, being reintroduced to MC he is stunned, shocked, but mostly confused. Not because the very person he have his first kiss to and vowed his love to was a man but why did his feelings suddenly increased tenfold with a single glance!? Will he keep his promise after all these years? Or will he have to break the heart he has sworn to protect forever?
