Bitter Sweets

Nathan looks over his shoulder and notices Elliot was still looking at him, ~why is he looking at me like that,~ he thought as he continues running. "Maybe if mom is alright.. I can go to the store and get some supplies," he mumbles as he was running and opens the door, walking inside. Nathan looks down, seeing his mom was fast asleep on the couch with his dad watching over her, "do you get everything handled dad?" His father nods his head with a smile and Nathan turns back around, heading towards the shopping district of town.

Once everyone said their goodbyes Elliot helped his grandfather close up the shop. He got into the car with the old man and they drove home, it was nostalgic seeing this old place again. When he was younger Elliot use to love coming out here to see his grandfather, but the city life spoiled him and he came less and less. He smiled once he stepped inside seeing that not much had changed in this place. His grandfather didn't have to show him around since it was all coming back to Elliot , but what shocked him the most was the pitter patter of paw running into thee living room.

"Buster!! Your still alive!!" Elliot smiled as the old dog greeted him with a wagging tail, trying to hop up on Elliot as if he were still a puppy. Elliot kneeled down to pet the dog.

"Come on boy wanna go for a walk, grandpa we're heading out for a bit." Elliot looked back at the old man who had st down and was pulling out a book.

 

"Don't stay out too late, and be safe." Elliot nodded before he headed to the door, buster right behind him, he made sure to grab Buster's leash even though he didn't need to put it on the dog, since Buster never leaves his side. The walked down the steps and headed out into the quiet town. It was only ten minutes later that Elliot stumbled upon a marketplace that was open till late.

Nathan continues walking until he finally reached the store. He walked into the store and goes into his pocket to see what he needed to buy. He rubs his chin while looking at the list and grabs a shopping card, walking through the aisles and picking up stuff on the list. Nathan slicks his hair back and looks at a few things for his mom, unsure what to get for her to recover from the pregnancy, ~I will leave it to dad to get the stuff mom needs... I never did that before,~

 

He shakes his head slowly before continue walking though the aisle. After a while he finished gathering all the items and walks up to the cashier, buying for the items and walks out of the store, holding the bags to his chest. He blinks, seeing Elliot from a distant and continues walking with his head down.

As if he had sonar Elliot spotted Nathan , a smirk came to his face as he hurried over to the male. Buster followed right behind the male keeping up with his pace.

"Good evening chef boy, didn't expect to meet you out here...you need help carrying those?" Elliot pointed toward the many bags he saw, Buster walked up next to Elliot and sat down lightly panting. He decided to lead a hand to get on the male's good side.

As Nathan continues walking, he looks up and gasps, seeing Elliot quickly approaching him and jumps back a little. He looks down at the dog and slowly back up at Elliot.

"Yes well.. I do go outside to do shopping you know just like your out to walk your dog." He looks at the bags and rubs the back of his head, nodding his head, "I.. suppose you can." Nathan looks down at the dog and smiles softly before placing a couple of the bags on the ground to stretch out his slightly sore arms.

Elliot picked the bags up with ease, he waited for the boy to start moving so that he could follow suit.

"This is my grandfather's dog Buster he's about sixteen years old this year." Elliot looked down at the old dog who was happily wagging his tail and panting lightly. His glaze fell upon the male's body looking him up and down, his hand resting on his hip as a smile came to his lips.

"So are you shopping for your family?"

Nathan looks at Elliot picking up the bags and smiles softly, "a-are you sure you don't need any help? I had to get alot of things." He blinks as he was just able to carry them and starts walking down the sidewalk.

He looks down at Buster and smiles softly, "he is pretty cute," he checks his watch to make sure he wasn't running late but then looks up and notices Elliot was eyeing him down, continues walking.

Nathan nods his head, "yeah my mom was resting and my dad was watching over her."

"Don't worry I got it." Elliot lifted his other hand and began to follow after the other, Buster troting right next to them keeping up with their legs despite his short legs.

"You don't have any siblings to help you out? I hope she isn't ill." His eyes glazed down at the male then over to Buster making sure he was still there, then they went back toward Nathan.

Nathan watches Buster and smiles softly as he looks up at Elliot, making sure he didn't need any help.

He scratches his chin and walks beside Elliot, "well.. technically I do but she is too young to move right now. I hope not either, I guess she is just still recovering from the birthing," he continues walking and walks up to his house, opening the door and looks at Nathan, "you can come in if you want and see my baby sister," he smiles as he walks into his house and takes off his shoes.

"Oh I see, must be nice to have a sibling." Elliot gave a soft smile, when they reached the house he didn't think he would be invited inside.

"Oh thank you, Buster wipe your paws." Elliot glanced down at the dog who was wiping his paws on the rug at the front entrance before walking inside and laying down by the front door.

"Excuse my intrusion."

Nathan nods his head slowly with a soft smile, "yeah but it will be nicer when she is older."

Nathan looks down as he saw Buster wiping his feet and rubs the back of his head, "its my first time seeing a dog wipe their paws," he laughs a little.

Nathan's dad looks up as he was rubbing Nathan's mom's head, "oh hello there, are you a friend of Nathan's?"

"Yeah I taught Buster to wipe his paws back when he was a puppy,we always came into the house all dirty from playing."Elliot smiled when he looked down at the napping dog. Lifting his arm with the bags in it he set them down on a nearby table before turning around to see another man in the house. He looked to be the father, of the household.

"Good evening sir, Elliot North grandson of Nolan North, I just arrived this morning I am helping my grandfather with his bakery." Elliot gave a small bow.

Nathan smiles and laughs softly, rubbing of his head, "well it's a pretty cute trick and rare to see." He looks down at Buster and smiles, seeing him resting and lead Elliot to the kitchen.

Nathan's father stands up with a smile, "its nice to meet you Elliot. My name is Jason and that is my wife, Miya." Miya turns her head as she was sleeping and slowly turns on her side.

Jason walks over to the crib and smiles, picking up Nathan's baby sister, "and this little one is Emi"

That smile for some reason Elliot wanted to see it again, it suited the boy more than that scold he keep seeing on his face when he was around him. His attention went to Nathan's father when he was introducing his family to him, Elliot smiled at the little baby.

"It is very nice to meet you all and I will be looking forward to working with your son." Elliot hold out his finger to the baby sister as she gripped it in her tiny fingers. The baby looked so tiny and squishy in Elliots eyes, he never had ny siblings, cousins yes, but no siblings of his own.

Nathan looks at Elliot and tilts his head to the side, wondering why he was looking at him and slowly walks over his dad to take his baby sister from him as his father goes to sit down on the couch.

Jason smiles and nods his head, "we are glad Nathan found someone at work like you."

Emi looks at Elliot as she held onto his finger and looks up at Nathan as he slowly lowers his head on Emi's head slowly with a smile.

"Would you like to stay for dinner," a voice came from under the blanket as Miya rose herself from the couch and stretches out her arms.

Seeing the male hold his baby sister was very cute Elliot couldn't help but to stare at the both of them. He looked back at the father and smiled at the older male nodding to his statement before he glanced down at the woman who was now speaking toward him, it seems that the mother was now awake.

"Oh, I hope we didn't wake you up, and I don't want to intrude upon your family dinner." Elliot smiled lightly.

Emi reaches up and grabs a hold of one of Nathan's bangs, making him jump and walks over to the couch, sitting down and holds Emi in his lap. Nathan sighs and rubs Emi's head as she sucks on her finger, looking towards Elliot.

"It's no problem really. You must be getting hungry from a long day at the cafe," Miya gets up off the couch and walks to the kitchen, "besides I need to finish preparing," she sets up the oven.

"Well I haven't eaten yet except for your son's wonderful donuts he made, my guess is that his skills are genetic?" Elliot walked the mother get up and make her way to the kitchen. When it came to charming people into liking him it wasn't hard for Elliot, but he didn't need that skill right now. He could be genuine sweet when he wanted to be. His eyes kept finding their way back over to Nathan, but then he would turn back toward the mother.

Miya looks over towards Elliot and laughs a little, nodding her head, "I suppose you can say that. He always watched me cook when he was younger. I guess that was when he went to culinary school and then worked at the cafe," she puts the already prepared food dish into the oven and walks back to the couch, sitting down. "No how many times did I tell you Emi, you get your milk for mommy," Nathan watches as Emi was patting his chest.

Miya laughs softly and picks up Emi, "looks like the dear is getting thirsty. I will be back in a few," she walks up the stairs to the bedroom.

Elliot had to hold back a laugh at what the little sister was doing finding it funny that even the little sister found her brothe to be very pretty that if not careful could be mistaken for a girl.

"How cute." Elliot mumbled before he went to sit down next to Nathan.

"This feels nice having your family under one roof like this." Elliot looked away a small pain in his eyes before shaking it off and leaning his head back on the soft couch.

Nathan sighs softly and covers his face with his arm, turning his head slightly to the side and stretches out his arms before looking at Elliot as he sits down next to him.

Nathan nods his head slowly, "yes it can be sometimes but even going to the cafe is a nice break," he looks over towards Elliot, seeing his slightly painful expression in his eyes and slowly turns his head, figuring it was best not to ask before perking his head up as the oven was going off.

Jason goes into the kitchen, turning off the oven and takes out the dish, "its ready whenever you two want to eat," he said as he places it on the table with a oven mit under it.

The fresh aroma of food made Elliot get up the second Nathan's father said it was ready. And right on cue Buster trotted quickly into the kitchen right behind Elliot. His tail wagging as he sniffed the air, Elliot grabbed some plates.

"Would you like me to make you a plate Nathan?" He looked back toward the male while fixing a small piece for Buster on a disposable plate.

Miya comes out with Emi, adjusting her shirt and sits Emi at the table. She starts preparing Emi's food and gives it to her with Jason sitting next to Emi with a plate already for him and Miya, watching Emi to make sure she eats.

Nathan looks down at Buster and smiles, "looks like he is hungry as well," he walks into the kitchen. He blinks a little and rubs the back of his head, "n-no I can't make our guest do that, I will be fine setting it up," he walks over to Elliot and takes one of the plates slowly, "but thank you, you make yours and prepare Buster's," he sits at the table and prepares his plate.

Elliot stared at the other for a minute loving the flustered look on the others face. He let out a small chuckle before giving Buster his slice of food, the old dog happily ate slowly chewing each bite.

"Good boy Buster you still eat slowly like I taught you." Elliot smiled petting the dog, he walked over to the sink afterwards to wash his hands before getting his own food and taking his seat at the table next to Nathan.

Emi looks down at Buster as she was sucking on her food covered hand before getting handed a spoon from Jason. Emi looks at Jason and then at the spoon, scooping it and puts it into her mouth.

Jason smiles and looks over at Miya, watching her eat as he was eating as well.

Nathan glances at Elliot and looks down at Buster, "you sure did teach him a lot of things," he smiles and watches Elliot sit next to him, continues eating what was on his plate.
