"Don't you have co-curriculum activities to attend?"

To this, Ritsu looked down nervously. He was too afraid to join any kind of club and he wasn't athletic at all so after school sports were a joke for him. The teen fidgeted and was happy when the doctor asked if he wanted to go with him. Ritsu nodded but then remembered something. He'd left his bag and everything he needed in the classroom.

"I-I'm sorry, I forgot something," he stuttered but quickly and before the doctor had time to stop him, Ritsu raced off down the hall. He only got around the corner before he slowed back to a walking pace while panting. One might think he smoked 12 packs a day or something because he really had no endurance.

After a couple minutes, he made it to the class and looked for his bag. It wasn't with his desk and he looked around. He found it on the ground a few rows over with several white foot prints on it. Picking it up, he brushed it off a bit then headed off to go catch up to the doctor. All of Ritsu's things were intact so he figured it was an accident. The doctor was gone when the teen returned so he just walked around for a while. One teacher noticed him so Ritsu hurried off and hid in the library again so he could read until he was kicked out.

"Wai-" Kyousuke wanted to stop the other, but with a blink of an eye, the student disappeared from his sight. The doctor would have accompanied him if the student asked. Heaving a sigh, the doctor had to do his job. Well, since it is within the campus, bumping into the other should be easy. Taking a stroll, he started with the school field as most injuries happened there. When he reached his destination, he went down the steps and was instantly greeted by a few students whom were sitting by the bench. No doubt, they were waiting for his medical attention. Kyousuke quickly started treating their wounds and reminding them to be more careful.

The doctor wasn't sure if the words will get into them or they are really accident prone as he often gets the same patients daily. He have no rights to tell students to not injure themselves as it can be an accident so he didn't brought it up. After spending a couple of minutes in the school field, he moved onto the basketball court to have a look. The library was the last place he'll go to as there should be no major injuries occurring in a peaceful environment.

Every time he moved onto another place, his eyes would skimmed around for that particular student he is interested in. However, no matter where he glanced at, he caught no sight of the student. "That's strange... Where could he be at?" Kyousuke muttered under his breath as he looked around for the figure. It got him pondering for a few seconds. Maybe the other had things to do so he left the campus? Or maybe he had to go home. Coming up with potential reasons, the doctor stopped trying to look for the other and be more focused with his job.

It wasn't too much longer, or at least so it seemed, since the teen had gone to the library. A couple hours had past and the custodian in charge of locking up came in and told Ritsu he had to get out. The custodian had done this nearly every single day, except for the days he was off or in charge of something else, and yet, he never once took notice of the who the teen was or noted that this happened every single day. Ritsu carefully got up and put the books he pulled out onto the return cart before he walked past the other and out the door.

Ritsu walked out and began his way down the hall and walked past the doctor. Pausing for a minute, the teen looked back. He sort of felt bad for running away and knew he did was was right. He stood there fidgeting for a while before he held up his bag. "I found it," he muttered almost inaudibly. His eyes were on the ground and shifted his weight a couple times on his feet before he mumbled, "Good bye." Ritsu gave no reason for saying that but there was a buzz sound in his bag and so he pulled out his phone. Reading the message, Ritsu's eyes filled with fear it looked like he'd just seen some horror film or even something worse. "I have to go," he squeaked before sprinting away again.

Ritsu was quick to run out of air but he kept running as if his life depended on it. His lungs burned horribly as he made his way home. The young male's legs wanted to give up but didn't until Ritsu was within a block of his house. He huffed and puffed like an asthmatic and continued to drag himself home. By the time he finally returned, His father began whaling on him immediately. He usually kept quiet but his father was so upset that he did more then just punch the boy and even attacked him with a knife, so, Ritsu screamed as if he were dying. It wasn't far off because his father had slashed his arms multiple times as well as his legs before stabbing his shoulder and upper left leg. Ritsu whined and screamed in pain until his father left him alone and walked off to pass out somewhere. Somehow, Ritsu managed to drag himself to his room before he dressed his wounds and passed out getting no homework done.

Kyousuke was almost finishing his patrol. The library was the only one left. Taking a leisure walk to the last facility, the doctor stopped his track when he passed someone. Taking a look behind, his eyes met with the student whom he thought had went home. Eyeing at the male with some confusion, Kyousuke's vision diverted onto the male's bag which the other held up. A small smile was curled on the doctor's face. "That's what you are looking for? I'm glad you found it." Inspecting the other carefully, the student seemed to be slightly fidgety than before and the doctor found it cute.

It seemed like only a couple of seconds had passed when he heard a word of farewell from the other, followed by the phone's buzz. Studying the other's facial expression, Kyousuke was filled with concern upon seeing the other's face, vaguely sensing a bad omen. "Take care." He called out to the student as he was once again faced with the student's back. Trying to shrug off the uncomfortable feeling, Kyousuke went back to his office to wrap up for the day. Entering the quiet office, the doctor realized that his assistant had also left the campus as soon as his working hours had passed.

Packing his bag, he wondered if he should have offered the student a drive to the other's house as it is supposed to be the adult's responsibility to ensure a teen's safety. Regretting his late reaction, he wasn't that worried about the other losing his way. Even without the doctor, the student should be able to recognized his way back home and by the looks of the other, it is possible that the other regularly left the school at this kind of hour.

Since he'd passed out on the floor, Ritsu woke the next morning with no strength to even turn off his alarm. He shifted a little but then stayed put until his mother came in screaming. She complained about not getting any rest and kicked Ritsu several times before grabbing his alarm and throwing it out the window. She stomped on the stab wound to his leg before storming out. Ritsu screamed in agony but gained enough adrenaline to get off the ground and into bed. The teen stayed locked away in his room for the entire day. He was so hungry, cold from bloodloss, and thirsty but never tried to leave the room.

The following day, Ritsu again had to stay home from school as he also developed a fever while he was home. He was left two days all alone in the house and at least on the second day, he got out of bed and got himself some water. There still wasn't any food in the house so Ritsu went hungry again. He got himself a whole gallon of water and kept it in his room so he could rest more. By the third day, his fever had only gotten worse, he was starving and having a hard time moving enough to even get himself some water. The teen began to wonder if he would die here all alone.

With the slight excitement to meet the teenager again as the other had promised to come by his office, Kyousuke looked forward to the student's appearance. However, throughout the day, he caught no sight of the student. The doctor even went to the library to search but the other was nowhere to be found. On the second day, he was still anticipating that the student might pop by and give an excuse about his disappearance from the previous day, however he was only greeted with dismay.

Shifting onto his computer, he started stalking the particular student's private information. As a school staff member, he have the authority to access every student's confidential information. He almost never used it as he is not particularly close or interested in other student's lives. However as the male had caught his attention, he couldn't help but wondered what had happen to the other. Kyousuke asked the student's homeroom teacher to go check up on the student whenever the teacher's free. Although the teacher agreed to do it, he could tell that a part of it wasn't really interested in mingling with the student's affairs.

On the third day, when he went to chat with the homeroom teacher, he was only given different kinds of excuses. Feeling concerned for the student, Kyousuke waited until the regular class lessons ends before he set out to find the student. Leaving his work to his assistant, the doctor halted his work for the day and drove over to the address he had written on a piece of paper. Reaching his destination, Kyousuke properly parked his car before walking toward the front door.

Knocking on the door, the doctor called out, hoping that there is someone in the house. "I'm Kyousuke Hirano. The school doctor. Ritsu, are you there?"

"Hirano.... sensei...." He muttered. Ritsu could hear the doctor knock and call out. The teen struggled to try and get to the door. He collapsed to the ground with a thud and laid there panting and in absolute agony. The teen stretched one arm out towards his door but his vision blurred and he couldn't find it in him to get up. Ritsu just laid on the ground near his bed and began to cry. All the boy wanted to do was to return to the doctor's side and to be saved and taken away from this hell. "Hirano-sensei," he cried quietly.

Ritsu couldn't even stay conscious for much longer. He held out as long as he could but his vision went black and ritsu continued to pant heavily. His fever was eating away every bit of strength that tried to come to him. Ritsu wined and fell unconscious on the floor. His body couldn't handle fighting the injury and the fever.

Knocking the door a couple of times, Kyousuke was suspicious as to how quiet the house was. It wasn't even past evening yet for any normal household to be this quiet. As an adult, he knows that it's wrong to invade someone's house but there's an uncomfortable feeling which he can't shook off. Turning the doorknob, the doctor wasn't surprised to find it locked shit. He had to find another way in. Walking around the house, he found a giant tree nearby and an opened window from the second story.

Kyousuke used to be really great at climbing trees in his younger days as climbing was a trend for kids in his era. Uncertain with his climbing skills, the doctor grabbed onto a stable branch to heave himself up. Stepping branch over branch, he slipped through the window easily. His vision instantly landed on a fallen figure as he sneaked into a room. Rushing to the body, it was no doubt the student. "Ritsu! Get hold of yourself!" The doctor slightly shook the teen. Placing his hand on the other's forehead, he quickly figured out that the other is having a really high fever.

Scooping the teen up, Kyousuke laid the male onto the bed before finding water resources. He didn't have a hard time searching for it as the male had some in his room. Withdrawing his handkerchief, he damped the cloth with water and placed it onto the other's forehead. He would have bring the student back to his apartment but with the male in an unconscious state, it would be quite risky. For now, he needs the male to regain his conscious before he do anything else.

Ritsu remained unconscious for nearly an hour, his breath still heavy and abnormal. The boy's face was bright red from his fever and his body was practically giving out on him. After that hour, he managed to at least come to. The students rolled from side to side, just rocking at first but then he rolled his head to the side as the cloth slipped from his forehead. He realized someone was their but wasn't sure who as one hand began to search for his wrist watch. "Time…" He whimpered.

It wasn't until the doctor told him the time that Ritsu realized who was there. His mind was so muddled, he really didn't have time to worry about the condition the doctor was seeing him in. "Hirano….. Sensei….. Hurry……. Run….." His voice was extra weak and it seemed to take everything he had just to try and get the words out. Now knowing the time, Ritsu knew his father would be home soon and didn't want the doctor here when he did. He'd probably hurt the doctor and then threaten to kill Ritsu if he told anyone.

The small teen was clearly not eating because, already, he'd lost a lot of weight and he had already been under his needed weight for his age and height. One small hand reached out from under the blankets and pushed on the doctor's chest to get him to leave. Ritsu was struggling to move at all and as he squirmed it was easy to see one arm and one leg weren't moving even a little bit to help him. Ritsu kept pressing on the doctor to try and get him to run away from this house.

Without moving an inch away from the other, Kyousuke just stayed by the other's side until the other shown signs of being conscious. Occasionally, he would damp the cloth and place it back on the student's forehead to subside the fever a little. Hearing the other spoke for the first time that day, Kyousuke was quite relieved to see the other moving. "The time now is.." He glanced at his watch. "4! 4pm!" The joy didn't last for long when he heard the next words from the other.

It was clear to the doctor that the student wasn't being taken care of by his parents and moreover, might have been abused by them. The way the other was moving, Kyousuke noted, seemed to have major injuries inflicted on his body. Reaching out to the teenager's seemingly wounded arm, he inspected for any wounds before hurriedly withdrawing some medical items as soon as he spotted one, from his portable first aid bag which was attached on the side of his belt. Pulling out a roll of bandage, he started to disinfect the wound area. Despite any protests from the other, taking care of people was his specialty. Kyousuke wouldn't turn a blind eye on that.

Once he was done with the wound on the arm, he moved on to the wound on the leg. Taking a peek towards the other's face, he shot a question to the student. "You only have two choices, which do you prefer? Run away from home or get your parents' consent first?" The question would affect the doctor's actions in bringing the other to his apartment. He couldn't let the student starved or get sick to death just because the student's parents aren't doing their job as caregivers.

The teen winced in pain the moment Kyousuke touched his arm. Ritsu had many cuts up and down his arms that had at least stopped bleeding, but still, they were painful. When the doctor made it to the teen's shoulder, the bandages had been bleed through and had been left like that for days. It was a good thing the doctor showed up when he did to take care of it or else Ritsu would have undoubtedly gotten an infection that would have killed him, that is, if he didn't starve or die of thirst first. The student's leg was in just as bad a condition as his shoulder if not worse. It was red all around the wound and probably was infected already. The disinfectant helped, but at the price of sending twice as much pain into the teen where he even screamed in pain.

Once he was patched up, he had been presented with the question of if he'd run or get permission. There was no way the kid could find it in him to run but asking for permission was like a chicken asking to be dinner tonight. "No…." he panted. "They need me….. parents… need…. must… stay…." Ritsu was losing his strength again but he wanted to be free and to make sure the doctor left before his father returned. Ritsu made another attempt to swat the doctor away so he'd leave. He wanted to stay with the one person who showed him kindness especially now but it was because it was here, at this house, that he didn't want it. The teen wanted to be able to spend every day with the doctor and not just a couple hours before they were caught.

Looking at the student rather with empathy, the doctor couldn't leave an injured person to the care of two abusing caregivers. Amazed by the other's filial, the need of wanting to care for the student increases rapidly. It is only right that the adult informed the teen's parents so that they will know where the student went to. Thus the doctor devised a plan. "I'll come back soon." Kyousuke started packing up his things. "You'll just stay here and rest." Stroking the student's head a couple of times, the doctor withdraw his hands and head out of the window. Landing on his feet, he arranged his looks while approaching his car. He'll need to attend a staff meeting first before getting back to the student. Checking his watch, he estimated that his next visit will be at 7.

Driving back to the school, his mind was still lingering at the thoughts of the student. It is not uncommon to have abusive guardians but to have major wounds and scars all over the body, the boy must have suffered. Looking at the student, the other doesn't seemed to be a disobedient child. Shaking the thoughts out of his head, the doctor had to focus on his job first. Throughout the entire meeting, Kyousuke was in a daze. He understood what is going on but unlike the previous sessions, he didn't contribute in giving suggestions to the presenter. Instead, his eyes was kept on the paper all the time, worrying about the student. "So what do you think of a 3 day 2 night camp?" He heard the presenter speaking. 3 day 2 night camp. The doctor's eyes widened slightly. It may be a good opportunity to give as an excuse to take care of the student although the duration seemed a little too short. Glancing at the wall clock, he wondered how long will it take for the meeting to end as he wanted to rush over to the student immediately.

As the doctor rose and turned his back, Ritsu slowly reached out a weak hand, the one that hadn't been stabbed in the shoulder. When he realized it was futile to try and stop the doctor from leaving, the boy's hand fell and so did his heart. His father had come home about five minutes after the doctor had driven down the street but Ritsu continued to be left as if he were still at school or something. He couldn't pour himself any water so, to alleviate the dry, burning feeling in his throat, He took the cloth off his head and began sucking on it to get something to drink.

Ritsu ended up passing out asleep again with the cloth still in his mouth. He breathed through his nose but his breathing still hadn't eased to a normal pace. It was rough, choppy breaths that really showed how hard it was to breathe with his dissipating strength.

The first thing that woke the teen was shattering glass then followed by his father screaming. Ritsu glanced out the window, it had to be nearly 7 and all he could here was his father screaming and wondering when "The brat would finally return." His father was being as loud as he could, throwing an absolute fit. The teen felt obligated to go down stairs to meet his father so he attempted to get up but his attempt was his finger twitching. Ritsu no longer had the strength to even move his better arm. Everything inside him was dying off and losing the ability to move.

7pm. The doctor glanced at his watch as he drove towards the student's house. How is he going to talk to the other's parents? Would the parents allowed their child to stay with him? Many potential questions appeared in the doctor's mind. No doubt, he would feel slightly nervous confronting strangers. Parking his sedan car right in front of the student's house, the doctor stepped out and headed towards the main door. Inhaling and exhaling a few times, he mustered the courage and pressed the doorbell.

Reciting a mental script within his head, he waited for the door to open. Fortunately, the doctor didn't have to wait for long. An emitting light escaped through the heavy looking entrance before he faced an adult. "Good evening, I'm Kyousuke Hirano, the school doctor. May I know if Ritsu Tsukari lives here?" Keeping his charming smile on, he continued. "My visit today is regarding the wellbeing of the student. It seems like he haven't been attending school and no one knew what happen to him. Is it possible that I clarify the situation?" A sharp glance pierced towards the adult as words rolled out from the doctor's lips.

"So, he's been skipping school too? Well the kid's not here, hasn't been for days. I thought he was going to school but it seems he's playing hooky. He has been coming home later then usual.... you're a doctor at the school? Ask his friends where he hangs and stop both in me." Mr. Tsukari had been leaning against the door frame as he spoke but now he stepped back and shut the door. He didn't bother waiting for Kyousuke to respond. Ritsu not going to school was strange and to have the doctor come?

Mr. Tsukari began to ascend the stairs to see where Ritsu was. He knocked on the door and waited for Ritsu to hopefully open the door. When there was no response, the man planned on opening the door. He gripped the handle but paused for a bit. He then forced the door open to find Ritsu panting and nearly dead on the bed. He stumbled over and stared down at the boy. "Damn..... now I have to play the good 'parent' or I might end up in the big house... again...."

Mr Tsukari stumbled down the stairs and opened the door hoping the doctor was still around. "Brat- sorry, the kid is upstairs in his room. There is something wrong with him, mind checking?"

Wanting to stop the adult from shutting the door, Kyousuke was met with the door frame again. Glancing towards the direction of the student's room, the doctor was worried about the male's condition. Would a parent be so nasty to not care about the life and death of his own child? Kyousuke cracked up his mind with concern. He could sneak in again when both of his student's parents are away. Turning to his back and preparing to leave, he heard some loud noises before the barricade was opened again. Coming into eye contact with the teen's father, the doctor couldn't actually believe what he had heard.

Maybe Ritsu's parents are not so bad after all. Curling his lips into a smile, Kyousuke was more than willing to help. "Well then, pardon my intrusion." He stepped into the house. "Will you lead me to Ritsu-kun's room?" Turning to the elder one, he asked the adult to lead the way. As much as he wants to rush up and treat the student, he can't let his guard down and make the adult suspicious with his actions. Skimming around the household, it wasn't as organized as his own apartment and there seemed to have glass bottles and newspapers laying everywhere. However, the concern for the student is the first priority, caution comes next. After all, doctors was taught that patient's care comes first. Their own safety is nowhere compared to a patient's life and death situation.

"Just go up those stairs and it's the door on the right. There are only three rooms up there and one of them is a bathroom. His is the only room to the right side." The man just didn't wish to climb the stairs again since it was a pain in the butt to begin with. He instead turned on his heels and began to head towards the kitchen. "Also," he began while walking away, "Don't go in the room all the way at the end of the hall on the right. That's his mother's room and she likes things a certain way. I'll know if you go in there. The boy's door squeaks and so if I hear any other opening or closing doors that aren't his then I'm calling the police." It was an empty threat but there was no way for the doctor to know that.

Up stairs, still passed out, weak beyond belief, and with a now dry cloth sticking out of his mouth, Ritsu laid in the bed. It was plain to see just how thirsty he had to have been to take the cloth off his head and start sucking on it like an infant. When Kyousuke walked into the room, it seemed like Ritsu had woken up, however, he wasn't coherent or in any way responsive to things. Everything he saw was nothing but a blur and, despite his eyes being open, it was mostly the whites of his eyes that showed and he wasn't moving at all from his lack of energy. Ritsu wanted more water but couldn't find a voice to ask. He simply sucked desperately at the dry cloth in his mouth.

As a well-developed adult, Kyousuke had no intention and curiosity to rebel. After all, his student is his main priority. "I understand." He responded before heading up the stairs, the doctor recalled the position of the student's room. "A room to the right with a door that squeaks." He turned the knob of a shabby looking door in the middle of the other two barricades.

Noting what he saw, his face darkened at the sight of the pale-looking student. Briskly approaching the younger male, it was as clear as day to the doctor that the male needed something to quench his thirst, judging by how he had a cloth in his mouth. Kyousuke wasn't too keen to go down and encounter with the student's father again thus he tried to find resources from himself. It may have been some kind of miracle as the doctor rummaged through his pockets and found a couple of candies from it.

Popping a mint candy in his mouth, his hand moved over to remove the cloth away. "Don't drink that. It's contaminated." He reprimanded the student in a soft and gentle tone, chewing and storing the mint flavor in his mouth. Leaning close to the teenager, a hand was cupping over the male's right cheek as the doctor latched his lip against the student's dry ones, transferring the sweet yet diluted fluid into the other's cavern, hoping that it was helpful to quench the other's throat even if it was only for a moment.

Ritsu's eyes seemed to try and focus on the figure towering over him that had just forced liquid into his throat. He stared for a while but he wasn't sure who it was, he couldn't even think straight to make a guess. The small teen just stayed there waiting to be saved needing to be free. Finally able to decide that he wanted to be away from here, he was sad that he he couldn't speak. The teen managed a small and squeaky wine and he wanted to reach up and hold onto the figure almost knowing, without actually knowing, who it was.

The father could be head wandering the down stairs like a shark. He circled and spent a lot of time in the kitchen in the living room which was directly under Ritsu's room. "Hurry up!" He bellowed suddenly. "My gilfriend is coming home early tonight and I don't want any guests in the house where we will have to hold back and wait." His mind was clearly in the gutter.

"Your house don't really have much medical things." The doctor sighed. Hearing an angry voice from below, Kyousuke realized that he might have overstayed his visit. Feeling the student's touch, Kyousuke knew that he just couldn't live the other alone. He'll have to take the male away even if it is by force. Without swatting the other's hands away, he scooped the other up in his embrace before heading out of the teen's room. Standing at the summit of the stairs, he glanced down at the student's guardian. "I sincerely apologize for overstaying the visit. If you allow me, I'll take this child away for a few days before returning him to you. I will take full responsibility of this child when he is with me." He continued. "That way, you can enjoy your time without the need to care about children. Is it okay with you?" The doctor spoke calmly, waiting for the parent's reply. Even if the student could only stay away from his parents for a few days, at least his life will not be in danger.

The man stood there staring, trying to figure it out what to do. Realizing it would be best if he could tell his girl the kid was gone for a few days, he agreed. "Alright, fine but as soon as he is back on his feet, bring him home and... he is a clumsy kid so don't go spreading lies about his number of bruises." The man stepped out of the way so Kyousuke could go down the stairs and out the door. "Hurry up and get out."

The doctor hurried Kyousuke out of the house and hurried up the stairs. The male grabbed the teen's school uniform from his closet as well as a bunch of random clothes before tossing them in a bag and out the door. "Take that and go." The man slammed the door and waited for Ritsu's mother to return.

It was too quick for Kyousuke to react, the doctor snapped back to reality when he figured that he was out of the door with the student still in his arms. Bending over and picking up the bag containing the other's clothes, the doctor couldn't stop to care about anything else. Placing the male inside his car, Kyousuke sped back to his house. Upon reaching the doorstep of his apartment, he dashed towards his bedroom and placed the teen onto his bed before frantically running around to get the required things to treat the male.

Soon, things weren't so unstable and the doctor could finally rest a little. Preparing a warm bowl of porridge, he placed it on his bedside table, patiently waiting for the other to wake up before he can feed the male. Changing the cold towel on the male's forehead, Kyousuke sat beside his bed, checking the other's radical pulse and counting his heartbeat. Deeming the other stable, he proceed to clear the ruckus within his house. Despite being sweaty from the running, he needed to wait until the other becomes conscious before he can really relaxed.

As Kyousuke worked, Ritsu relaxed more and more, stopped panting, and his fever lowered a bit. It still took a couple hours for him to regain consciousness but when he finally did, the fever was still high but under control. Ritsu opened his eyes but it took a while for them to come into focus before he looked around and saw the doctor clearly. "Sorry for all the trouble…" He mumbled quietly as a wave of different sad feelings took over.

The small male glanced to the side table where he could see the bowl. His stomach growled and Ritsu just wanted to get up and devour the bowl, yet, part of him was still holding him back quite a bit. Maybe it was that the teen was sick and that he didn't want to add throwing up on top of this kind of sickness. His hands shifted to feel his injuries. Everything still hurt but it was a normal kind of pain. At least nothing was infected.
