Alexander spent a good five minutes arguing before storming back to his office. No one dared mention anything and he honestly appreciated. Calming himself with a few deep breaths, the raven got back to his office and sat down in front of his computer. Everyone had their own personal problems and he was about to get rid of one. The man printed out a whole bunch of documents, knowing well enough just what was needed where. The divorce documents were sitting in his email for weeks, now all they had to do was sign the papers and they could split up. At last...

Beckett was on auto-pilot at this point, and the words flowed freely. This allowed him to ponder his boss' situation. The brunette wasn't a nosy person and he was hyper aware of his surroundings, especially the emotions of other people--it seemed that the only person he couldn't read was himself--so he wouldn't say anything unless Alexander brought it up. However, he did wonder if there was anything he could do to make the older man's life a bit easier. I guess I'll just have to work harder, he thought, already done with two pages of his summary. He was an extremely efficient worker when he got into it.

Alexander seemed extremely pleased with himself as he signed the documents and put them into his briefcase. A small smile played on his face as he stretched out, as if he wasn't arguing on the phone just a little while ago. The raven let himself relax for a few minutes before getting back to work. He had to make sure their site was working fluently, he had to go through the comments to approve or disapprove them. As the boss, he had a lot of other responsibilities as well, one of them being in his best state for the best work. He wouldn't refuse a cup of tea...

Beckett didn't want his paper to be too long and filled with excessive information, so he cut out all of the unimportant parts and shortened the writing to three pages exactly. He proofread it for grammar and spelling as well as sentence structure before going over it once more to make sure he included all that he needed to and removed all that wasn't necessary. Once he was finished, he pressed the 'P' key and sent the document to the printer. He flexed his fingers before standing and going over to the printer, which he had spotted on the way in. As he waited for the papers, he silently tapped his foot against the floor. He had included the data he and Annabeth had gathered on the interview topic before going into detail on what he had learned about interviewing, composing articles, and reading body language.

Alexander had gotten up to get himself the cup of tea at some point. After having it in his hands, the raven looked at the clock. Half an hour left... At this point, he always told his workers to do the light work. He knew he would dislike it if he had to do the hardest work just before leaving. Of course, that didn't quite apply to Beckett, for now. As long as he was the newbie, he would have to work harder to earn the trust and respect. In this company, everyone felt like family, in a way. With a sigh, Alex walked towards Beck, glancing over his shoulder. "Impressive." He muttered with a smile before getting back to his office and tea.

The brunette had just reached forward to grab the papers from the printer when he felt a very large presence towering behind him. He froze, subconsciously holding his breath, and listened as Alexander spoke to him. Once the man was gone, Beckett relaxed. He was a very sensitive young man, both emotionally and physically, and was able to feel when someone was close to him. As a result, he was easily startled. Wait...did he say 'impressive'? He had always had self-doubt, and it had taken years for him to come to accept himself, so hearing his boss say this had a great impact on him. He found himself smiling slightly as he stapled the papers together. Maybe I can actually do this job.

Alexander leaned back against his chair a bit tiredly, sipping the tea slowly. It seemed like he'd scared his new worker a little bit - guess he'd have to watch himself on this one. He didn't want to scare Beck off, after all. Each worker was precious and he made sure that all of them realized that. When needed, he didn't hesitate to give a few days off, but didn't let them get too relaxed either. He felt like the best work came when they all were given enough work to feel the need to work harder, but not hard enough to feel too stressed. If they did begin feeling stressed, Alexander tried to help in all ways possible.

Beckett took another few moments to go over his writing one final time before taking a deep breath through his nose. He brushed the slightly wavy bangs from his dark brown eyes before straightening out his sweater and approaching his boss' office. There was a moment's pause after knocking on the door as he waited for permission to enter. When he received it, he gently pushed open the door and went to stand in front of the desk. "Um..." The physical signs of his discomfort had lessened since Annabeth's lesson, but his uneasiness was still easily found in his voice. "I finished the summary." He placed it on the table and slid it over to him.

Alexander allowed the other to come in, turning towards him with a small smile at his lips. His eyes seemed warm, which didn't quite fit on his predatory-like face. "I'm honestly surprised you managed to write that much." He chuckled as he set the cup away and took the papers, reading through them quickly. "Seems like you got a nice day of work, huh?" The raven muttered as he grabbed his cup for another sip. "So, do you enjoy taking interviews?" He asked, raising his gaze up to Beckett. "What would you say is the best thing about them?" The man added after a few moments, leaning back against his chair.

"I liked getting to work with Annabeth," he replied, his hands folded in front of him. This time, he managed to maintain eye contact with the older man; it seemed to help that all he was focusing on were the warm eyes rather than the rest of his appearance, which was quite intimidating. "She gave me a lot of good advice that I hadn't learned at college." The brunette shifted his weight to his other foot, trying not to become uncomfortable from standing in a small room alone with his new boss. The next question was unexpected, but he answered earnestly. "We didn't practice interviewing much in college, so it was a new experience. It was interesting hearing different opinions on the same situation, although Annabeth did most of the talking. I took notes for the most part." He gave Alexander a timid smile. "I'd say the best part was that we were able to get information directly from the source, making it more authentic." The one thing he really hated was people feeding false information to the public just for their own benefit. It was a journalist's job to help the people, not use them.

Alexander listened quietly, slowly drinking his tea as he allowed the other to talk. He nodded from time to time, his smile widening a little as he looked at Beckett. "Folding your arms means you feel insecure." The man noted with a chuckle, setting the emptied cup away. "I see you spent the day well." Alexander smiled a bit wider and tilted his head. "Do you have enough time to go to dinner with me tonight or should we do it some other day?" He asked, crossing his legs to get more comfortable. "Although I'm sure Annabeth told you all about what I plan on doing, right?" The raven laughed warmly as he ran a hand over his hair, messing it up slightly.

Beckett's eyes widened slightly in surprise when the man before him smiled and laughed. Immediately he could see what Annabeth had meant, and he couldn't help but smile back. "I don't have anything planned," he replied, and it was the truth; he had only just moved here because of the job, and he hadn't had time to make any friends, so he was on his own for the most part. "And she did tell me. I have to admit I was surprised at first." He somewhat mimicked his boss by twirling a strand of his hair before folding his arms again once he realized what he was doing.

Alexander smiled warmly at the other, nodding a little bit. "Very good then. After work, I'll take you out and we can talk about you, or me, anything that'll help you feel better here." The raven smiled as he set Beckett's papers away. "For today, this is about it. You can go to Annabeth and see if she needs any help with the interview editing. If not, just wait for everyone to finish up." The raven said and motioned for the other to leave. He still had one article to read through...

"Thank you," the brunette replied with a nod before turning around. As soon as he was out of the room and the door was closed quietly behind him, he sighed and returned to his desk. After packing up his laptop and making sure he could pick up everything and leave if needed, he made his way over the the blonde woman's desk. "Um, Mr. Black told me to help you if you need it," he said softly.

Annabeth glanced up when she heard Beckett, shook her head and flashed him a smile. "No, I've got this. If you'd like, though, you can watch!" She smiled before continuing to write out the interview with all the comments. The blonde hummed softly to herself as she searched for the right word. "Beck, what would you call a person who seems to be happy about achieving something? Like, something other than proud." She huffed softly while looking at the other thoughtfully. The woman often found herself in silly problems like this one, which honestly slowed down her work a little bit.

Beckett had turned around to return to his desk when she said that he could watch. He thought it was a bit silly for someone to watch another write, but she sounded as if she wanted him to stay, and he didn't want to upset her. So he went back to his desk and pulled over his chair before taking a seat next to her, his legs crossed at the ankles and hands in his lap. His dark brown eyes were glued to the screen as she typed, and he was impressed by how fast she was able to press the correct keys. "Um...maybe dignified? Or content? What's the context?" he asked in response to her question.

Annabeth hummed in delight at Beck's suggestions. "Content! Yes, that'll go!" She exclaimed happily as she continued writing, lightly bouncing her leg. In a few minutes, Alexander stepped out of his office, telling everybody that the working hours were finished. However, not one person moved from their places at first - well, except for Alex himself. Annabeth continued writing, and everyone else was finishing up their works while the raven stepped closer to Beckett, a small smile on his face. "Let's go, shall we?" He asked with a smile, setting the key of the place down on the table. "And I'll see you all here tomorrow." The man said with a smile on his face, getting a few murmurs and nods in response.

The young man had become so absorbed in observing Annabeth that he almost didn't notice that Alexander had come up behind him. He blinked and turned to glance up at his boss, giving him a tiny smile after he had finished speaking. "Okay." He stood and carried the chair back to his desk before putting on his layers and retrieving his satchel. After thanking Annabeth, he followed the taller man out of the office and into the snowy wind. He shivered and shoved his hands into his pockets. "Um, where are we going?"

Alex waited for Beckett to get ready, his hands in his pockets. As soon as they stepped outside, the raven hid the half of his face into the scarf. "You'll see." The man said with a chuckle as he walked towards the car. Opening the door, Alexander motioned for the younger one to get in. "Now.. Can you drive?" He asked as he got into the driver's seat, fastening the seatbelt. "If not, I'll just call a taxi to take us both home." He was planning on a few drinks, at least..

The brunette murmured a quiet 'thank you' before sliding into the passenger's seat, trying to act as casual as possible. He wasn't as intimidated by Alexander as he had been, courtesy of Annabeth, but it was still nerve-wracking going out to have dinner with your new boss on the first day of the job. "I can drive," he replied, also clicking his seat-belt into place. He didn't have a car, but he had learned to drive in high-school. The only problem was that this was the other man's car, and if he dropped Alexander off then went home himself, the car would be with him instead of its owner. I'll just leave it at his house and walk.

Alexander seemed a little bit relieved when he heard that Beckett could indeed drive. "Okay then, I hope you don't mind driving me home, I don't think I'll manage to stay sober the whole evening." The raven said honestly, with no shame in his voice. "See, I'm getting a divorce. I haven't decided if I'm drinking to celebrate or to mourn yet, but I definitely need a drink. Don't worry though, I'm not a bad drunk." The man ended with a soft laugh, not even acting like he was with a colleague - more like that he was with a friend. He disliked bringing professional relationships into his personal life. "So, tell me a little about yourself."

Beckett, who had been staring out the window, turned his head to look at his boss when he spoke again. His brown eyes widened slightly when he mentioned the divorce, but the words he was inclined to say refused to leave his throat. I don't want to say something offensive... Instead, he settled for a simple, "I'm sorry. I hope everything goes well." He gave him a small smile before turning his gaze to his hands, which were resting on his lap. "Um...what do you want to know?"

Alexander laughed, lightly shaking his head. "No, it was about time." He chuckled as he drove through the busy streets. "Just tell me some facts about yourself. Like... What do you do in your free time? How's your family? Anything you're comfortable talking about with me." The raven said with a light smile as they stopped at the red light. The man reached out to turn on the music, grinning as "Girls/Girls/Boys" began playing. "Oh boy, my sister used this song to come out..." He laughed quietly, lightly shaking his head at the memory.

The brunette glanced up at Alexander from beneath his bangs, studying him for a moment before sighing inwardly. He might as well stop being so nervous. It would be beneficial to get along well with his boss, and he had no friends at the moment, so this was a good opportunity. "Well...I like to play video games when I get the chance, but usually I don't have time." He hoped that didn't sound childish. Adults play games too, he reassured himself before continuing. "My older sister is touring Europe, and my mother is with her boyfriend in California."

Alexander glanced at Beckett when he heard the other liked playing video games. "Really? Man, I'd love to play them if I had any time... With work, I don't get time for anything!" The raven sighed, speeding up to make it through before the light turned yellow. "Oh, your mother is with her boyfriend? What about your dad?" The man asked a bit absentmindedly, nodding his head to the music slightly. He liked music when he drove... It calmed him down, relaxed him. Then again, so did alcohol, so music probably wasn't that special.
