"My father died when I was thirteen," he responded, resting his chin in his palm as he stared out the window, watching the cars speed by. "My mom goes through boyfriends like clothes, though, so I'm not worried." Beckett also loved music, and he found himself tapping his foot to the beat even though he didn't know the song. For some reason, he felt rather relaxed. "What about you? Do you have any siblings?"

A flash of dread ran through Alex's body when he heard about Beckett's father. "Oh... I'm sorry to hear that." He said quietly, deciding not to ask about it ever again. It probably wasn't something Beck wanted to talk about... "Me? I have an older brother and two younger sisters." The man smiled slightly, then let out a quiet sigh. "I had a younger brother, too, but... He died." He muttered out quietly, clenching his teeth slightly. "Let's talk about something lighter, okay?"

Oddly enough, instead of seeming upset, Beckett just gave the older man a small smile. "Don't apologize. It doesn't bother me anymore." At times he missed his father, and he still loved him, but he was no longer grieving. However, when Alexander mentioned his younger brother, it was clear that the wound was still relatively fresh, and the brunette found his own chest aching. Sometimes it was a curse being so empathetic; it made it nearly impossible for him to deal with emotional situations. "Um...well, what about music? You seem to like it."

A small smile lit up on Alex's face when he heard the question. "Yeah, I do like music. When I was little, I was forced to play the violin..." He chuckled, a grin on his face. "I used to hate it so much... Then I discovered heavy metal." The raven laughed warmly, glancing at Beckett. "What about you?" The man asked with a smile, pushing away the unpleasant memories. Just as Beckett thought, the wound was fresh - and extremely painful.

The brunette blushed slightly at the question, but the reason as to why was not very obvious. "Um, well...my mom and sister say that I dress like an old man," he admitted, and it was true; all of his nice clothes were very stereotypical. "so they make fun of me and always buy me classical music CDs." He sighed and ran his fingers through his hair. "But the thing is, they only see me when I dress up. In reality, it seems that I haven't shed my punk style from when I was in highschool." He tilted his head and brushed his hair away from his ear, showing Alexander five piercing holes that had yet to close up, which was because he still wore them when he went out. "It must be hard to picture me like that," he continued with a quiet laugh. "I used to wear only black, with those really uncomfortable skinny jeans and stuff." His blush darkened and he waved his hand as if to clear away the tension. "But long story short, I love rock music."

Alexander laughed, shaking his head as he listened. "Honestly, I'd never think of you as this kind of a guy." The raven laughed, absentmindedly trailing over his lip. "I had a lip piercing at some point, but it healed up..." He sighed out softly and turned to an emptier street. The man soon pulled up and turned off the engine, glancing at Beck with a small smile. "Let's go then." He muttered while getting out of the car. Alex looked around before crossing the street to get to a rather expencive-looking restaurant. "Don't worry about the prices, alright?" He chuckled while holding the door for his new employee. "I'll get us a small discount either way."

Beckett chuckled softly along with the older man, the small smile on his face brightening along with his eyes. He ran his fingers through his hair as the car pulled to a stop, and he opened the door to get out. The sight of the place had seemed daunting at first, but he was relieved that they would get a discount. He was still paying for himself, however; Annabeth had already paid for him once, and he hated being a burden. "It's a nice looking place," he commented, sticking his hands in his pockets as he stood waiting for his boss. "Thank you for taking me out," he added, looking at Alexander with a somewhat shy expression.

Alexander smiled back as he nodded and looked around for a free table. "I like taking people out for dinners... That sounds weird, doesn't it?" The raven laughed as he walked towards a table for two. After sitting down, the man looked at Beck, a soft smile playing on his face. "I'll pay for half of your food, how does that sound? You're just out of college, I imagine you don't exactly have a bunch of money..." The man chuckled softly, glancing at the waitress who brought them their menus. His gaze only seemed to go up to her chin before he looked away, beginning to look through the possibilities.

"It's not weird," Beckett reassured him, following a few steps behind as they made their way over to a table. "I think it's nice." Although I did find it strange earlier...but I hadn't known you then. He blushed slightly when Alexander commented on his post-graduate status; it made him remember just how much younger and inexperienced he was compared to the man in front of him. "Well, because my mother was off with her boyfriend when I applied--not the one she's with now, I mean--she decided that she wouldn't help me with loans, and because my sister's always traveling, I'm working three jobs at the moment," he admitted, taking a seat across from the raven-haired man. His eyes scanned across the menu, and he was thinking about choosing a salad topped with chicken.

Alexander let out a quiet, relieved chuckle. "Really? I'm glad you think that, then." The man said with a small smile as he ran a hand over his hair. After hearing how many jobs his new employee had, the raven just felt his eyebrows raising and his eyes widening. "Alright, the dinner's on me then." He decided firmly, shaking his head slightly. "Are you sure you can handle that much? I wouldn't want you getting too tired or overwork..." The man sighed softly, concern showing itself in his eyes. Alex rubbed the side of his mouth with his thumb once his attention was back to the menu. He was starving, honestly, but he didn't know what he wanted. Perhaps some pasta with sea food? He was always a fan of it, especially shrimps.

Beckett looked up from the menu and shook his head. "No, really, it's fine. I work part-time on the weekends, and the other job finishes before I go to the office." He gave the man a reassuring smile before setting the menu down and folding his hands. "Thank you for the concern, though," he said, brushing the hair from his eyes. He turned his head when he saw a young waitress approach the table. She gave Beckett a look of disinterest before focusing on Alexander. She gave him a flirtatious smile, and the young man had to refrain from rolling his eyes. "What would you like?" she asked the older man, twirling a strand of her hair.

Alexander pursed his lips and shook his head. "It's not alright. You shouldn't have to work so much..." The man sighed out and lightly bit his lip. "Let me pay for you, at least. Like a welcome gift." The raven smiled lightly as the waitress came. The man smiled back and lightly tilted his head. "I'll have pasta with shrimps and squid, and could I get light beer first?" He said before glancing at Beckett. "What about you?" He asked, then turned his gaze back to the woman. "Err... May I ask for you to get your breasts out of my face?"

The woman looked mildly offended at Alexander's comment, but her expression had changed back to its fake smile extremely quickly. "All right, sounds good." She scribbled his order down on her notepad before turning to Beckett, and this time, the smile was much more forced than it had been mere moments before. "And what would you like to have?" Her voice was so obviously bitter-sweet that the brunette felt like cringing.

"The garden salad topped with chicken." She nodded and wrote that down too. However, just as she was about to turn away he added, "Oh, um, does the dressing have soy in it?" She gave him a look.

"I'm not sure, but I can give you Italian instead." The young man nodded, and with a final wink and smirk at Alexander, the waitress walked back to the kitchen.

Alexander sighed and scoffed, crossing his arms as he waited for the waitress to take their orders and leave. The man pursed his lips the slightest bit, but still smiled back at the woman. Once she was gone, the raven groaned quietly and ran a hand over his hair. "I apologize, I absolutely can't stand people who act like this when working." He muttered, glancing to the side. "Relationships should not interfere with work in any way, don't you agree?" The man sighed softly and looked at Beckett with a small frown.

"Anyway, let's talk about something else." He smiled lightly and rubbed his chin. "Say... How do you feel after finally finishing college? I remember I went out drinking with my friends and ended up in my first threesome..." Alexander laughed while shaking his head. "To this day, that night was one of the best ever."

Beckett's eyes had followed the woman as she walked away, sending her an unimpressed look. However, once she was gone he turned back to Alexander and sighed, resting his elbows on the table and putting his chin in his hands. "Doing stuff like that at work isn't really appropriate," he agreed, wondering how someone like her had gotten a job at such an expensive place. The young man took a sip from his water glass, which had been brought to them as soon as they sat down, and listened patiently and curiously to his boss as the other spoke. When the escapades of the man in his college years was revealed, though, the brunette blushed profusely and averted his eyes. W-who says that so casually? Beckett had never even had a girlfriend, let alone had sex with anyone. There had been a few guys who had been interested, but he had been too oblivious to realize.

Alex didn't even notice Beckett's reaction at first - he never thought of sex as something he should talk discreetly as. It was natural for him! When he did notice the younger's reaction, the man laughed warmly, lightly shaking his head. "Sorry, sorry. I'm used to talking freely when I'm around with friends... I mean, I like to think of my colleagues as friends." The raven smiled softly, lightly tilting his head to one side. "But really, why would you be embarrassed to talk about it? Isn't it natural?" The man asked with a raised eyebrow, not even glancing at the waitress when she brought him his beer. He merely took it, bringing the glass to his lips to take a sip. The cold liquid brought relaxation to him almost instantly; alcohol always helped him calm down, although it certainly wasn't the best way.

The brunette stuttered slightly as he attempted to come up with an answer, his flush darkening as he became even more embarrassed by his inability to speak properly. "I-I mean...it's natural for most people," he agreed, biting his lip gently as he stared at the table cloth, his fingers picking at his trousers. "But...for me...I mean..." He huffed, irritated that he couldn't formulate a good response, and the motion caused his bangs to flutter slightly. "I'm just not familiar with it," he said at last, refusing to meet the others' eyes. He was pleased that the other man thought of them as friends, but the topic at hand was mortifying to him. He had absolutely no experience, even at his age, and he was so easily flustered that it was nearly impossible for him to imagine it. Of course, as a man he had urges, bu he was always too embarrassed and self-conscious to act on them, even when he was alone.

Alexander blinked a few times in confusion, his eyebrows raised. "Oh, you're a virgin! Sorry then~" The man chuckled softly as he took another sip of his drink. "Well, let's talk about something else... Oh, wait. Don't mention that to Annabeth unless you want to be set up with half of the world's population." The raven grinned widely and leaned back against his chair. "So... You never really answered, how do you feel after finishing college?" Alexander asked with a light expression, determined to know as much as possible about his new employee. Honestly, this guy just hd some good vibe. The man was certain that Beck would end up being an excellent worker.

Beckett hesitated, but found himself wanting to answer truthfully. He looked up as the waitress returned, setting down their meals in front of him. She didn't stay long, though, as she was distracted by another attractive client, and left them to their own devices. Ugh. So flighty. He had picked up the word from his sister, whose habit--and perhaps hobby--it was to make fun of people she didn't like. "To be perfectly honest, I'm a bit scared," he admitted. So much for being honest. It was more like he was terrified of what the future held.

Alexander smiled lightly as he took a fork. "Don't worry too much about it, Beck. You'll manage!" The raven chuckled and began eating his food. His dark eyes closed in bliss as he ate, slowly, as if trying to make the taste stay as long as possible. "God, the food here is incredible... Don't you agree?" He asked as he downed his first glass of beer, immediately ordering another. One didn't do enough to show, however after three or so, he'd become a lot more talkative and 'happy'.

Beckett returned the smile. "Thanks." He turned his attention to his salad and picked up his fork, stabbing a few pieces of lettuce. They were crunchy, and the dressing took away the usual bitterness of plain vegetables. "It is good," he agreed, including chicken and a tomato slice in his second forkful. The brunette was used to the consumption of alcohol, as both his mother and sister enjoyed it, but it was a bit strange seeing his boss drink so much. It must be the divorce...I hope he's okay. He wanted to ask and comfort the other, but he was afraid such a thing would come across as rude. After a few minutes of eating in silence, the young man started to feel a bit off. "Um, so are there any new stories we'll be working on?" he asked, rubbing lightly at his throat.

Alexander didn't mind the silence - with Beckett, it was almost comforting. The raven enjoyed his meal, tossing in a shrimp into his mouth whenever he found one. Just after he noticed the younger eyeing his beer did the man understand he may have been making his employee uncomfortable. "New stories? Well... I was hoping to get some information about a few robberies, have you heard of them? The robber doesn't just take their money, but also, appareny, steals all of the lightbulbs." Alex chuckled softly to himself before sipping his drink. "People will find it interesting, I just know it."

Beckett's brown eyes widened. "He steals the light-bulbs? I hadn't heard about that part." As he spoke, his voice was a bit raspy, and he coughed after he finished. Am I getting sick? It was getting increasingly harder to breathe. His fingers trailed over the skin by his throat, and he froze when he felt a few bumps that itched when he touched them. Oh no. Quickly he dropped his fork and reached for his bag, which was on the floor by his feet. At that moment, a dizzy spell hit him and he almost fell out of his chair. Crap! She must have given me the wrong salad. By now, his face was red and his chest was heaving as he struggled to breathe. His fingers fumbled with the straps to his bag, and his movements were erratic and sloppy as he reached into his bag and pulled out a tube.

Of course this had to happen now! If his face hadn't already been swelling, he would have blushed in embarrassment. Once the tube was in his hands, he pulled off the blue cap, rolled up the right leg of his pants, and pressed the orange tip into the side of his thigh. As he did this, one of the other waitresses had noticed and had come rushing over, asking Alexander if he needed her to call an ambulance.

Alexander laughed quietly and nodded, however the smile quickly died out. "Are you okay?" He asked, eyes widening as the other's face swelled. Here he had no idea what to do - he himself didn't have any severe allergies nor did anyone in his family. The man hurried to stand up, telling the waitress to call an ambulance as he placed a hand on Beckett's shoulder.

"Is there anything I should do?" Alexander felt himself getting a bit panicky, watching the younger man carefully in case he stopped breathing. Honestly, this kind of freaked him out. Especially after consuming alcohol, he was not in the right state to take care of such a situation. Though, there was something he needed to do. As anger flashed through his eyes, the man pulled their waitress towards himself by her wrist. "You gave him the wrong dressing! I don't know how the hell did you get a job here, but I'll make sure you won't have it for much longer. He could've died!" The man hissed in anger, letting go off the woman's wrist angrily.

The woman, who had been idly standing and talking to another employee, gasped when he grabbed her and turned to stare at him in shock. Her eyes darted over to Beckett, who was now kneeling on the floor by his bag, eyes closed as he focused on breathing. "Oh my god...I'm so sorry!" It was clear, though, that her fear was more for herself and her job than for the young man. The other waitress had made the call and was now crouching in front of the brunette, trying to help him calm down and breathe steadily. "Th...anks," he choked out. She told him to be quiet and that the doctors would be here soon.

Moments later, the ambulance pulled up outside and two people came rushing in. They asked the woman to move and blocked Beckett from the sight of the other people in the restaurant. It was hard to see what they were doing, but after a minute or so Beckett was on his feet and being led to the door. "'m fine," he reassured Alexander as they passed, giving him a small smile.

"He'll be okay in an hour or so. He administered the medication in time, so the inflammation hasn't spread," an EMT told the older man while the other helped Beckett outside. "We'll just give him something else to take and keep him on oxygen until the swelling dies down."
