Key-Tokki
The kingdoms of Ionia and Kanier have been at war for hundreds of years. The Kanier were feline like fights, using there speed and agilities are there weapons, while the Ionians were elven fighters, using there magic as a form of high impact, long rage as there weapons. Both sides have grown tired of this never ending battle, and seek a truce, however neither will risk loosing in a battle, so the war rages on. When the Ionia prince's best friend and personal servant is killed protecting him from a Kanier assassin, a truce is made. The Kaniers will hand over there princesses personal servant as both an apology and peace offering. The Ionian prince is not happy with this trade, but is at least glad his best friends death will be beneficial to his people. So now the young prince and servant are going to have to tough it out, for the sake of both kingdoms. Key-Tokki
Foot steps echo'ed through the corridors, as two young boys sped down them at full speed. Kirito was panting hard at this point, they had been running full out all the way from the top floor of the palace. Everything around him was a whirl and there was stitch in his side unlike none he had ever felt before. If you were in a dire situation, it was said that your adreniline would block out most of if not all of your pain. However that was clearly false, because Kirito's side hurt so bad he thought he was going to crumple any minute. He would have lost the strength to stop running a while ago had Cameron not be dragging him by the hand, where his servant got all that energy he had no idea. "Cameron! Cameron stop! I can't!" He called out, releasing his hold on the others hand and instantly stumbling at the change in momentum. His foot caught on a loose tile and he fell face first to the ground. "Kirito!" Cameron called out, rushing back to the prince who was pushing himself up off of the floor while trying to catch his breath. "Kirito, i'm sorry I know you are tired. But please, we have to hurry, come on." Kirito could hear his friend trying to convince him to move his feet, but he simply shook his head in reply and continued to pant. "I can't...Cameron please, I really can't." He spoke, and before either of the young boys could react, a Kanier was behind them, there dagger drawn. "Kiri-!" The prince heard his precious servant call out to him but then all sound left him as he felt a searing pain rip through his back as the dagger dug in, embedding itself deeply into the prince's back. The dark haired boy fell face forward, right back to the ground as Cameron threw himself at the attacker. The sound of clangs and clashes could be heard behind Kirito, grunts of pain and then a sudden sharp cry, then a dull, sickening thump as something hit the floor and stayed there. One of them had gone down, trying to adjust himself to move, the elf found that he couldn't have at all. "C...cameron..?" He murmured out softly, struggling slightly as he tasted a warm, metalic liquid in his throat. All was silent, until finally a familiar voice whispered to him. "It's alright, Kirito. You are going to be alright, I promised to take care of my prince and you said you would never forgive me if I broke a promise to you, right?" He felt hands gingerly press to his back near where the dagger was embedded. "I'm going to have to take this out, then i'll get you out of here, alright?" Cameron's soft voice spoke as he used one knee and one hand to hold down his best friend, then with his free hand he reached down and yanked out the dagger. After a few moments of silence, Kirito felt himself being lifted, and rolled over into a sitting position, where familiar arms hooked under his arms and began dragging him backwards, away from the Kanier's body who he could now see lay strewn out in a bloody mess on the floor. "Don't you worry, i'm going to get you out of here, i'll get you to Dr.Harold. He'll fix you up as good as new." Kirito couldn't respond, in fact he could barely even hear the words at this point. His eyes were so heavy, he couldn't concentrate on anything. His eyes shut for a minute and he found he couldn't open them again. So, this is death? He thought silently before blacking out. When he woke up again, it was because he was being nudged awake, tired eyes opened and he found himself face to face with a smiling Cameron, who parted his lips and spoke. "Kirito, I've got to go check again, alright? Then i'll come back and get you, I promise. Just wait here." Though Kirito wanted to say so many things in that moment, he found that he couldn't say a thing. He just sat in the room closet that Cameron had stashed him in, and washed his best friend smile at him one last time before shutting the door. He never saw that smile again. ** Two Months Later** Kirito adjusted himself in his sit, growing more than slightly impatient. The Kanier were suppose to arrive to there audience with the kind over twenty minutes ago, if they were expecting a cease fire then they were certainly going about it the wrong way. His father, the kind, sat in his own chair as his wife sat beside him. The entire royal family had come for this, and they were late. However just when Kirito was about to stand, a horn sounded, and the doors to the throne room slowly swung open. Two guards walked through, there tails and ears perked and ready for a fight. Next walked the Kanier princess, and beside and slightly behind her, walked her personal servant. One they were close enough, the kind held up a hand and spoke, his voice booming with natural authority, "Princess Valkiria, though it is always a pleasure, you are late. I have an entire kingdom to run, I do not have time to be waiting on a princess and her slave." His face was not vicious, but he was clearly annoyed at the disrespect of the untimely enterance. with a soft smile, the princess spoke, "My good king, I apologize for my tardiness. It was not easy finding a safe way here through your kingdom, I can't imagine why, but we seem to be hated a large deal here." She smiled, a two faced grin, before continuing. "You agreed to a cease fire, as long as we even the plan fields, correct? Your sons slave was killed in an assassination attempt, and we are here to give our sincerest apologies, as well as offer my own, personal slave as tribute." Turning around, she put a long finger nailed hand on her servants shoulder, and pushed him forward slightly so that he may speak.
Arekushisu
Name: Shinya Kagami Age: 20 Gender: Male Race: Kanier Position: Dominant Occupation: Head General/Guard Kagami sighed resting his head against the dark brown walls of the princesses room. After the war had broken out, and his parents killed through the first month or two of the war he decided to make it his duty to fight for their lives as they did for his. He didn’t expect to be a pet to a woman like the princess however if he was doing his country a favor he assumed it would be alright for the time being. He moved to attention his ears perking up as the sounds of the princess rousing came to his ears. He smiled the smile she seemed to love and bowed to her as she walked in, “If you do not hurry Princess we will sadly be late once more.” He said softly before she motioned for him to straighten himself. She turned her nose up at him and sighed, “Yes I do understand this..However I don’t see why we must rush to see our last minutes together.” She said in a sickly sweet voice making him sigh. “Please hurry Princess. I would hate to get even more on their bad side before I even get there.” He chuckled softly and left the room after bowing to her. He was to leave when he was told to and when she was dressing, pure gentlemen there and he was to guard her at all times. Finally the Princess emerged from her bedroom beautifully dressed in the traditional clothing of her people. A long dress with jewels of pure white hung from her neck and he rolled his eyes. Why did she have to get so dressed up to give him away? He really hated this truce they were about to make, he did however know it was needed. In order to keep his people safe he would need to babysit a child for the rest of his life or until he is killed protecting him. He walked behind the Princess as they went to her horse and he sighed pulling himself onto his own after helping her up onto hers. It would be foolish to take a cart and horses into a warzone and assume we wouldn’t be seen. Kagami had insisted that they take single horses, it would be easier to hide from anyone who may want to kill the Princess on their way to make this truce. As the long ride commenced he looked over at his fellow guards and at the Princess. This was the last time he would be with them. The thought saddened him however he didn’t think on it long. He wasn’t taught to be soft and caring about his own feelings, he grew up caring about everyone elses feelings. As they pulled to the Castle depression loomed over him as he would be leaving everything he had ever known behind him. And the feeling just increased as they walked through the large doors to the throne room. As they entered he could hear the king talking already, his eyes adjusted to the new light and he scanned the faces for the youngest one. Finally spotting him he smirked lightly his ears flicking slightly. The boy he was to be protecting was attractive, yet he looked stuck up and two faced just as the Princess had. Kagami listened as they talked about his worth and sighed when the icy fingers of his master touched his shoulder pushing him forward. He looked up at the King and bowed his head yet did not bow his body. He rose once again and he awaited to be spoken to first. He knew his place, a slave never talked first and no matter how much he had to say he would keep his mouth shut and speak when spoken too. He looked back at the Princess as she opened her mouth to speak again, “Shinya Kagami is the best fighter we have on our side. His skills are well trained and highly advanced. He is my personal guard for this reason and I’m sure he will add great protection for the Prince.” She said introducing him to the king for him. Key-Tokki
The kind watched silently as the princess spoke, his eyes did not leave her, but Kirito's eyes were drawn by the one who was meant to be his new companion. He looked soft somehow, though his face displayed no trace of emotion, there were no wrinkles that would display any worry lines or stress marks. The dark haired boy had been expecting someone who was in the fourties, and all torn up from years and years of battle. Not someone who looked barely older than himself. His right ear twitched in subtle curiosity as he refocused he attention when the kind pushed himself up from his throne. Everyone tensed for a moment, it was like you could hear a pin drop. Kirito's father had long flowing black hair that was kept tied back at all times, he was extremely tell and broad, it looked like he was made by the gods for a position of importance in life. Silently, he decended the stairs, his eyes never leaving Shinya as he took in the boys appearance. Stopping directly in front of him, he looked down at the ears that there people hated so much. Turning to the side swiftly, he began to walk around the boy, circling him, judging him and what his worth could be for this kingdom. "I'll do no harm." He spoke swiftly, in an attempt to keep the Kanier from jumping up in arms when he reached out and took hold of Shinya's chin between his fingers. Jerking the smaller males head up slightly so he could look him directly in the face. All was quiet for a moment, before he released his hold and turned around, marching back up to his throne and sitting. Bringing his gaze back to the princess, he gave his responce. "No." The entire court broke out in an uproar. Even Kirito himself was shocked, sitting up a bit straighter, he glanced over at his father then at the general that he had basically just refused. "Sire! Please reconsider!" "Sir, this kindgom needs a rest! We can't fight this war anymore!" "There offering there best ,please at least give it some thought!" His councilmen shouted, everything seemed to be chaos. Kirito rose from his seat, just as his mother did, they were always instructed to leave when things got to roudy. However, the king simply waved them both to sit back down, before looking at his disruptive pupil. "Enough! You will be quiet! You are dishonoring me in front of our guest!" Leaning forward, he put his elbows on his knees, looking directly at the princess as his spoke, his tone full of disgust. "You think you can give me this, what, child? You think you can barter for the peace of nations, with one insignifigant boy who looks like he isn't even old enough to understand which end of the pointy stick you stab with? You have dishonered me for the last time, Girl." As he stood, he signaled for his guards to ready themselves, a fight was going to break out. Blue eyes widened slightly as Kirito watched the scene unfold before him. I'll come back and get you, I promise. The familiar voice whispered in his mind. No, this was not going to happen. Cameron had died for this, he had died trying to protect Kirito, all his servant ever wanted was peace in the land. Cameron had given his live for Kirito, so Kirito was going to do all he could to make sure that he would make Cameron proud. Pushing himself up from his seat that was beside the kinds, Kirito rushed forward, practically jumping down the steps so that he could stand in front of the Shinya. Turning, he faced his father, his gaze was steady as he spoke. "Father, please. This is there attempt at a peaceful transaction, he is to by my guard, right? So I should have a say in this matter, should I not?" As he spoke, the kings gaze softened slightly, Kirito held his hands up in a calming manor as he waited for a responce. Then, silently, he began to decend the steps once again, stopping in front of his son. Reaching out he took Kirito by the shoulder and spun him around so that he was now face to face with Shinya and the rest of the Kanier. "This is our prince, his name is Kirito. He is my last child, his brother was killed two years ago, and his sister four. He is my air, and one day he will run this kingdom. We know who will win this war in the end, your kind may be better at hand to hand combat, but my people can blast them to dust before you even get close. " His grip on Kirito's shoulder tightened slightly. "This boy is not even a man yet, he is 18, and he has more dignity, more respect, than any of you. You killed the child he grew up with, his servant who even I had a bond with. Not only did you cut off an innocent childs head, you stabbed by son, my boy who has never taken part in this war, in the back. Yet still, he please for pease, and mark my words. It is his plea that I head, not yours." His hand slipped from Kirito's shoulder as he turned and once again, ascended the stairs, sitting back in this throne. "Leave the general and get out of my kingdom. I will order a cease fire, but if a single hair is harmed on my sons head, if your battle worn general here, fails his duty. Then we will rain hell fire down upon you, and I mean literal hell fire. Kirito, lead him to your chambers and explain to him what he is to do." Kirito all but jumped at the opportunity to leave the tense room, turning around, he looked up at Shinya and spoke softly. "You can say your goodbyes, i'll meet you at the door." Walking around him, he gave a respectful bow to the princess, the made his way to the throne room doors where he waited for the general.
Arekushisu
Kagami was surprised watching as the large man rose from his seat. He stood a little straighter as he watched him walk forward. He knew this would happen, an analysis on how he was in stature and hight. His ears flattened slightly as his chin was roughly grabbed. His ears flattened and his eyes flashed hatred as a soft growl left his throat. But as soon as he had taken his chin he had let it go just as fast. Kagami looked away his hand resting on the hilt of his dagger just in case the need presented itself. He may be in line to be someone else's baby sitter but right now he was still the Princesses body guard. He sighed softly as he left but his body instantly relaxed hearing a loud no leave the mans mouth. He didn't move however as the arguments of disapproval filled the room. His eyes flashed to the boy who rose from his seat, before he knew it the small figure was before him, literally standing between him and his father. He had started to pull out the small dagger the guards of the king making him nervous as well as the other two guards that were with them. But hearing the small boy talk he blushed lightly as to why the boy would save him...save his people. He was always taught that they were bad people, selfish and greedy. That they had no other feelings for anyone but themselves and it seemed this young man did actually care for his people, and then some. As the King ascended his stairs again and sat down the awful approval of him come through his lips and he sighed softly his body trembling slightly in sadness however his face remained unchanging. As the Prince approached him he nodded curtly and turned to his acquaintances and past master. The Princess hugged him hard and she was crying, he had been guarding her for almost all of her life. He hugged her back quickly then released her bowing, "Thank you for allowing me to be in your service this long. I hope the next man to take my place will guard you with their life." he said looking over at the young man that would be taking his place. He clapped him on the shoulder and sighed, "Don't kill her on the first night." he teased and hugged both of the men waving as he left them standing there. He spotted the Prince and walked to him bowing low. He kept his mouth shut and decided he would stay hostile till the boy showed no signs of wanting to hurt him. The small comment his father had made of slave, and such had bothered him. But then again his people called him that as well because he did practically everything for the Princess while he was in the service of her. He minded the name, he would rather be called by his own name not a name he was given do to his status. He sighed softly looking back on last time as the life he once knew was closed off from him forever.
Key-Tokki
Kirito stood silently in the door way, glancing back at the parting that was going on behind him. His eyes were drawn up as he looked to his king, there was something almost unreadable on his face, but you could tell it was not a pleasant feeling, whatever it was. His lips pursed as he saw Shinya walking towards him. Despite how much he wanted to hate there kind, and every reason he had to hate there kind, he just could never bring himself to. Even know, after all that happened, he held no ill will towards this man. If anything he felt bad, what happened to Cameron was not this individuals fault so there was no need for him to be punished for it. Yet, here they stood. Once Shinya was beside him, he turned without a word and began to head in the direction of his chambers. The elven palace was located in the moutains, while it was a good battle strategy to avoid any unseen ambushes, it meant that it was cold and snowing practically year round. Kirito knew that the feline-like fighter was likely going to get sick in his first week or two here while his body adjusted to the climate change so had planned accordingly. When they approached his door, two guards where standing there to guard it. "You are dismissed." He spoke softly, as he moved to push open his door, however one of them spoke in responce. "My lord, forgiven me, but are you sure? We should stay to keep an eye on you until we are sure how he will react." Kirito let out a lot sigh as he turned to the man and spoke. "How many feet are between me and Shinya right now?" The guard looked confused, so Kirito clarified, "This man is named Shinya. So I ask you again, how many feet are between himand myself right now?" The man looked baffled but looked between the Kanier and his prince before responding. "Four, sir?" Kirito nodded and faced him, crossing his arms lightly. "So, in those four feet do you think he cannot hear you? If you don't want him to kill me, turn to him, and ask him nicely. You know you are to respect other guards, Kanier or not. As I said before, you are dismissed." He spoke, his voice was soft through the entire conversation, he just needed them to understand. The guard nodded to his prince and he and his companion turned to leave, however he stopped in his tracks. Turning towards Shinya, he bowed low. "Please, do not kill Prince Kirito." With that he turned back around, leaving a slightly surprised Kirito to watch him leave. He couldn't contain the laughter that spilled out as he pushed his door open and left it open for Shinya to enter as well, waiting for the man to enter before closing it behind him. The princes room was huge, the bed was large and white with a blue flower in the center and sheer curtains that hung around the edge. The floor was a white tile that would transetion to a blue one every so often. There was a large, round table in the corner of the room and three dressers and two large mirrors as well as a dividing post for changing. There was a large door on the left side that led out to the balcony, but it remained shut. On the right side of the room, there was another large door, and he would show Shinya what that was later. Turning to face the other, he spoke, his voice was soft and wiry, "Do you have any questions for me, Shinya?"
Arekushisu
Kagami followed the Prince staying a safe distance away from him as to not make himself or the Prince uncomfortable. He stopped and his ears moved in the direction of the guard as he spoke and he smirked lighty listening to the small interaction between the Prince and the other guard. He turned and he laughed softly yet there was no joy in it, "Do not worry, I am sworn to protect him. No matter what he is I am still his protector. You have no worry of me being the one to kill him." he said bowing back to the other guard before her ran a hand through his hair shaking his head as he followed the other male into his room. He smiled softly, "Yes, where will I be sleeping? I'm assuming I will be with you every moment of the day to keep your safety at my top priority." he said turning to the Prince shifting his body some. "And may I take off this armor? I never liked it anyway, the Princess always made me wear it, something about being worried I would get injured without it." he chuckled softly tilting his head. He didn't know what to make of the other male. He was small yet well composed and very mature for his age. He was soft spoken, but then again there was no need for him to ever raise his voice. He looked around the room awaiting to be answered once more taking in the beauty of the room. It was nicer than that of the Princesses, also it was a males room so he felt more comfortable without all the purple and floral print furniture. He was actually not to worried about this new relationship between them, he knew that he would be alright no matter where he was put. He did however notice that the Prince had called him by his name, which puzzled him. "Prince...may I ask why you addressed me by that of my name?" he said softly confusion on his face. "No one has ever done that before.." He said softly under his breath.
Key-Tokki
Kirito made his way over to the fireplace that sat adjacent to his bed, and reached down, tossing a few logs into it. Walking over to the door on the right, he motioned to it. "That will be your room, it looks the exact same as mine, so if you don't like anything you can alter it by all means. We have plenty of places down at the market in town where we can get you a different bed spread or some furniture or what have you. I have to go down there in a bit anyway, so we will pick up some things for you as well. The rule is that the door between our rooms is to be open at all times so that you can see into my room, but as long as there are not any servants in the room then there is no need for that. You can open or close it as you see fit." Looking over at the armor the other man was wearing,he had to admire it. It as beautifully made, whoever had crafted it for him must have really been talented. "Well, you know your skill level. If you think you can properly protect yourself without the armor then far be it to me to order you to wear it and be uncomfortable all day. But if you do get injured I may change my mind, so be careful with yourself." He laughed lightly before addressing the mans final question, there was no hint of a joke in his voice now. "I called you Shinya, because your name is Shinya is it not? When we are given our names, those are our identities, what we go by in life, what separates us. Names give dignity and respect, so who am I to deny you of your birthright? Though my father will likely not speak to you the same, just a warning. "They named me Kirito, so you can call me Kirito. If we are with my father than Prince or Sire will do fine, but as long as it's just us then you can relax about the names." He parted his lips to add something before a frantic knock sounded at his door, he stiffened slightly however when a voice called out he recognized it and immediately relaxed. "Kiri! Kirito! It died again! Kiri it died again!" Letting out a defeated sigh, he moved to his door before pulling it open to reveal a little girl. She had bright blue eyes and flowing black hair, tears were streaming down her face as she clutched something in her hand, her clothes were that of a servants child. Reaching down, he picked her up and carried the crying child over to his bed, murmuring a soft "Pardon me." Towards Shinya as he did. Setting her down on the bed, he knelt in front of her and held out a hand without her even having to say anything. She placed what looked to be a wrinkled oragami bird in his hand. "I-It was flying and then there was a window and I tr-trie-tried to close it and it got stuck." She continued to sob, sitting back slightly he closed his hands around the small paper bird so that it was covered from view. Closing his eyes he held his hands to his lips and blew into them lightly, a soft spark setting off in his hand. Her sobbing stobbed as she watched Kirito open his hands and the small paper bird took off, flipping an flying all over the room as though it were alive. "Now be more careful next time Nia, what happens the day i'm not here to fix it for you?" He scolded her softly, like a father would there child. Arekushisu
Shinya smiled softly as he was amused by the Princes actions. He looked over at his room and nodded curtly to the Prnce knowing he wouldn't need any special furniture or anything. His ears flicked and a softly chuckle rose out of him, "Ah...You do not believe in formalities? If that is your wish then I shall call you Kirito. And in turn Shinya would be a nice change. To be more formal possibly around your father Kagami is my family name which is less personal if you wish." he smiled softly at the younger boy. He didn't mind being called his actual name for once, it seemed that the prince believed that he was an actual being with its own rights as a living thing. Shinya sighed softly but his ears straightened up and his body grew tense as he threw his body into a crouch his palm on his dagger. Since he was close to the door there was no need for any movement. But as the door was opened to reveal a young girl he relaxed and walked to the table in the Princes room taking off his breast plate as well as the rest of his armor. He rolled his shoulders comfortably, He walked over to the two that were on the bed and he watched as the small origami bird flew up into the air and over our heads. He also watched the young girl leave after it and he walked to the door shutting it, "Kirito, I will have no need for new furnishings in my room. I will rarely be in it other than to sleep and bathe as instructed by your father and my last master. I am to be with you every moment and I hope we will be able to become comfortable with one another." he smiled and nodded to the Prince almost as if he was an old friend. Key-Tokki
Kirito watched as the door was shut and turned towards the terrace doors, walking around the bed silently and pulling them open so that he could glance outside. After poking his head outside he let out an annoyed curse as a burst of wind smacked him in the face, it looked like the snow was not coming down to hard but it was absolutely freezing. Leaning back inside, he reached up and gently brushed the snow that had already blown in from his hair. Glancing over at the new guard, he parted his lips to speak but was caught off guard when he noticed the others tail. It was tinged pink and looked soft, it didn't look vicious or spiky like the elders told the children. In fact they were told Kaniers were sharp teethed, long clawed monsters that would sooner rip your throat. This Kanier however didn't exactly give off the 'bash your face in' vibe that he had heard so much about. Waving a hand to his fire place, the fire ignited a little more and there was a burst of heat. "Well,I have to go down to the market today, so you can at least get a look around the town." The elvens were known for there huge, majestic cities. With tower so high that if you climbed to the top you could look out over the entire city, and populations in the thousands. Generally, because of how many people were there royalty didn't go down to the cities, since it was so easy for someone to just sneak by with a dagger and they would blend in among the vast crowd of people. "We need to stop by the tailors chamber first to get you a decent coat and maybe a hat so your ears won't get cold." He moved towards the door but stopped, facing Shinya he added. "I hold no ill will towards you, but the people here aren't all the same. So be careful, in the city and this castle." His warning was soft but firm as he pulled open the door and began to walk down the hall.
Arekushisu
Shinya's tail flicked as it had gained its freedom and he sighed softly his ears doing the same as he heard the wind come into the room. He shook his head lightly at the cute image of the male before him wiping snow from his hair. He thought he was amusing and very childlike although he was mature in some aspects. He nodded curtly as he was told where they were going and what they would be doing there, "Sire, do you believe that it will be safe for me?" he asked not really concerned about himself. "I don't want to risk my peoples lives...If I die your father is going to kill every one of my race." he said saddened by the thought of it. He had been walking along side Kirito his sword at his hip as well as the hidden dagger strapped onto his leg. He really didn't wish to be hurt however he knew when he took this sworn duty that it was a possibility. He could get killed on this job, and he could be put to death for the death of his master. He knew the stakes, but he did it for his people, he was more worried about the others in his race rather than himself. His ears flattened and he sighed, "Why do they hate our race so much? I may understand why but why do you take it out on individuals who have not hurt a soul?" he asked referring to his father and mother as well as his younger siblings who were killed by Elves. He was worried as to if he was going to be alright, but then again he was a skilled fighter and although he was young he was better than most of the guards on either side. He felt he was a fitting match for that of the Prince yet he said nothing about it.
Key-Tokki
Kirito lead the other down a narrow hallway, his ears twitching slightly when he could faintly hear Nia giggling in a nearby corridor, a small smile fluttering over his lips for a minute knowing she was fine now. Listening to the others questions, he didn't respond immedietly, tilting his head up slightly as he walked, trying to think of the proper response. After a short deliberation, he decided that the truth was the correct answer here. "No, I don't. But it is not safe for anyone here. This kingdom, our king, have both become made with this war. It's been going on before I was even born so that may be why I am not as emotionally invested as my people are. I love my country, my kingdom, so much. But no kingdom worth anything, should be built on the death or pain of another race." Reaching up he ran hand through his hair before he continued, "People are not going to like you, i'll tell you that right now. The king will not, and anyone with any hate in there heart are going to direct it at you. If you stay, you could very well end up at the wrong side of a spell. On our way down to the market there is a clearing with woods on either side, it would be really easy for a guard to take advantage and simply run off." As he spoke there was a double edge to his tone, he only hopped Shinya got what he was offering, but he continued not wanting to draw to much attention. "As long as you are with me, I can promise that i'll do my best to keep you breathing. If you die, things will hit the fan, if I die, things will hit the fan. So, I think as two people with the mutual goal of keeping eachother alive, we can handle ourselves." He smiled reassuringly at Shinya before continuing once more. "No one really knows how the world started, but most think it was because of jealousy. Kanier are amazing fighters, but if they could also weird magic, then they would be absolutely unstoppable. So they asked our kingdom to ally ourselves with them to create one unstoppable force. But for some reason, my great grandfather refused. Both sides threw some low blows, got offended, and then an all our war. To be honest, I think both sides needed someone to blame for there own short falls on the battle field." He finished as they came to a large doorway with a plate that read 'Taylor Bannet.' Reaching up, he knocked twice.
Arekushisu
Shinya watched his ears flicking as a girls laughter came to his ears and he smiled softly at the younger males lips tilting up at the sound. As he waited for Kirito to respond he simply gathered in his surroundings. Noting the people and the places they were walking through. As they walked down the hall he noticed the guards looking at him with disgust, he held his head higher and his tail flicked in aggravation. His ears moved forward however taking his mind off of his own thoughts and back to the conversation at hand. He listened intently to the other male talk nodding when he knew he was to and disagreeing when he knew would be correct. "Prince, I did not come here seeking love and affection. I assumed you would be rather rude to me as well...you shocked me quiet frankly when you shielded me from the King." he said taking in a breath before going on. "As for that big field and stretch of woods any good Guard with his sense of pride in his duty would never dream of running away from his current mission. For anyone who has done that I believe they are shallow, and deserve what is coming to them." he said keeping the low underhand message hidden as well as the other male had. He twitched his ears listening as the other male explained to him his thoughts on the war and Shinya nodded in agreement. "I agree with you Prince. You and I seem to have more in common than you assumed we would."
Key-Tokki
Natsume glanced over at the other, a small smile that didn't reach his eyes spread over his lips. "My last guard, Cameron, got scared once. He took off into the woods once, then came back to the palace absolutely sobbing. Covered in leaves and dirt and scratches, sometimes it's alright to get scared and run from your duties, even if only for a little while. "He stopped speaking when the large doors pushed open, stepping back so he couldn't be in the way. An extremely tall woman stood in the doorway, her breasts were overflowing the top of her dress which was a black satin with diamond slits cut into it. Her hair was up in a messy bun kept together with traditional chopsticks. Her eyes widened as she looked down at the two boys. "Darlings!!" She exclaimed, throwing her arms around before wrapping them around Kirito and all but lifting him up in a bear hug. Releasing him only when he made a comment about needing air. "It's been so long since you've come to me! Now look at you, skin and bones! I am going to have to alter all your clothes ain't I?" He let out a sheepish smile as he walked around her, into her work area. "It's aren't I, not Ain't I Bannet." He clarified, she ignored him and observed the feline figure next. "A Kanier? Oh this is your new guard isn't it? The one you asked me for all those clothes for?" Putting a hand on her hip and the other on her lip and tapping it lightly, she silently circled Shinya, looking him up and down for a minute before stopping in front of him and opening her lips, she exclaimed, "Aren't you the cutest thing I have ever seen! Your hair and eyes match your tail and ears so nicely, what an unusual color! I bet you would look very good in a deep purple or black. Oh god, yes! Black would look amazing on you!" She yelled, practically jumping on her skin before running to the back of the room and tearing threw a nearby chest to look for some fabric choices. Arekushisu
Shinya jumped lightly listening to the loud woman talk, as he was circled his body was tense and his tail flicked. He laughed softly at her reaction as a blush formed on his cheeks, "May I have one request...may room for my tail please, My last master made the clothing to where it had to hide all day and I hated it. if it is too much of a problem then you don't have to compensate for it but if its alright that would be grand." he said softly shyly walking into the room staying close to Kirito. He didn't know what to make of the older woman, she was loud, busty, and very very energetic. He watched as she moved around the room looking for the dark purple and black she had been talking about to match up with his ears and hair. He looked over at Kirito however instead of the woman, "Thank you for allowing me new clothing, and earlier...I did not mean to strike a nerve I simply meant I wouldnt be going anywhere." he said slightly sad he had accidentally insulted the others old guard. Key-Tokki
Kirito couldn't withhold his laugh as he watched the mixture of emotions flush over the Kaniers face. He went from defensive to shock in a matter of seconds, but this is why he chose to bring Shinya here first. The prince wanted to make sure that he could at least expose Shinya to the more redeemable characters this kingdom had to offer, it was his attempt to try and get the guard to look at the situation that they were both thrust into with an open mind. This tailor was wide known for her strange personality, but she was someone he respected greatly because of how blunt and eccentric she was. Turning away, he reached over to run his fingers across a soft fabric that was lain out on a table beside him, her chambers were more than just a mess. Glancing up at Shinya he responded softly, letting out a short yawn. "Well it's much colder here, so I don't want you to freeze your tail off, literally. I'm pretty sure that could happen here." Laughing at his own comment, he turned to Shinya as made a loud bang when she set down a huge chest. "Here we go my sweeties. You won't have to worry about that, Kirito was very clear, he ordered these custom made a week after the original agreement was made that you would be coming here." Pushing up the lid of the chest, she pulled out a simple, black hate that had the royal crest on it. There were two ear slits in the top of it. "There are some hats in here, all of them have ear holes for those." She pointed to the cat ears that rested on the others head before continuing. "And all of the pants have a hole for your tail. I was also told to make two sleeves, one black and one white. If your tail gets cold you can slip a sleeve over it, won't loose any flexibility in it at all, and it will help keep it a bit warm. Kirito put a lot of work into you, "She gave him a wink before turning to her own closet and pulling out a huge, lengthy white coat with a large hood on it and long sleeves that were both framed in white trim. Taking it off the hanger, she held it out for Kirito. "Here you go deary, I fixed the linning for you."
Arekushisu
Shinya smiled softly listening to the other male but he didn't find the joke funny at all. His tail flicked slightly as he relaxed into the room. He felt no sudden danger with the woman that was in the room with them so he saw no need to be on his guard the whole time. He rolled his shoulders and moved closer to the clothing she was pulling out of the large chest, "He did didn't he.." he said absently to the remark that Kirito had put a lot of work into him. He touched the fabric of the clothing and he looked for the sleeves. "May I try that on? To see if I like it." he asked motioning to the black sleeve and as he was handed it he slipped it onto his tail and moved it effortlessly nodding lightly to himself. He slipped it back off and nodded his thanks the the woman, "And the clothing is flexible enough to fight in correct? I will need to be ready for anything so baggy clothing will not do however loose will." he said looking up at the woman then at the prince. "Thank you for putting so much effort into my first experience here." he said softly to him bowing his head slightly before he smiled at the coat that Kirito had been given. It was beautiful, yet very large. The boy was small and he believed that if he put it on it would swallow him, Shinya had never owned anything that nice before in his life so just looking at it was something he was happy for. Key-Tokki
Kirito leaned back against the table as he watched the other slip on the tail, he had spent a lot of time trying to find a fabric that wouldn't constrict the mans tail but could at least keep it safe from the temperature. Reaching out he held the familiar coat to himself and pressed it to his face, "Ah, Soft as ever." He commented the tailor, wrapping it around himself, he stuck his arms through the sleeves and shook it onto his arms. The sleeves went past his hands slightly and the back of it trailed the floor by a foot, but that was how he liked it. It wasn't exactly practical if he needed to run away, but this type of coat had been his favorite since he was a child and had no intentions of changing it anytime soon. He had to admit he was caught slightly off guard when the other thanked him so sincerely. Kanier were supposed to be horrible, vicious beings according to what he 'd been told. This one however seemed as far from vicious as you could get. Reaching back to pull up his hood, he turned to the tailor and have her a respectful nod. "Thank you for all the effort you put into these, i'll make sure to stop by more often." She gave both the boys wide grins and waved as Kirito lead Shinya out of the others chambers and closed the door behind him after making sure the other had grabbed a proper jacket from the chest. Turning towards the front enterance, he motioned for a servant to come over to which he intrsucted the boy to get two hoarses from the stables and meet them at the draw bridge."Now let's see how you handle the people?" He smiled at Shinya but his voice was a bit wary.
Arekushisu
He watched as the younger male tried on his coat and he kept a laugh that was bubbling up inside of him to himself. He looked away and grabbed a coat that was short and hung on him loosely, enough to hide his weapons if need be. "Thank you." he bowed to the woman as they left. He followed Kirito out and followed him to where their horses were already waiting for them. "The people...I believe I'll be alright your Hightness. I did sadly fight against many of them, and on the way here earlier today they were...rude to the princess and myself. I believe I'll be alright." he laughed softly and moved to the male horse that was white and he patted its nose. "Which one will be mine to ride?" he asked looking at his master petting both large animals.
Key-Tokki
Kirito's smile dropped slightly when he heard that there was a fight on the way here, a slight flash of something unreadible in his eyes for a moment, just a brief second, before it was gone. The moment the doors were opened slow was swirling and the wind was thrashing angrily. The weather wasn't always this bad, but the other had the bad luck of coming on a day or a particularly bad snow storm. Still, things needed to be done. He watched the other move to the white hoarse and in turn walked over to the black one, reaching up before hooking a foot in the side saddle before hoisting himself up. He waited for the other to mount up before lightly nudging his own hoarse forward. The snow falling heavily around them, reaising a hand he motioned a circle, and the air around them ceased it's vicous thrashing. He had created a large orb around both of them so that they would not be effected by the wind. "Did you kill them? The ones who attacked your princess?" He asked quietly, his eyes looking straight ahead.
Arekushisu
He mounted the white mare he had originally walked up to and nudged his own horse forward riding along side Kirito. They rode in silence a few paces and the magic surrounding them made him smile. He was always fascinated by the art of magic and the people who wielded it. However, he never wished to have the power to do so, he was happy with himself the way he was. His ears flicked and fell flat onto his head hearing the comment the younger male had made, he was silent a moment before he looked over at his new master trying to think of a way to tell him this without him getting upset and hating him. "I will be honest with you...My duty was to protect the Princess...the men that attacked us tried to kill her...I was only doing my duty Kirito. If it was you, and my people attacked you...I would do the same." he said guilt and pain laced into his words. "I'm so sorry for the loss.." he said softer than before looking straight ahead his eyes scanning the horizon. He knew that hiding the truth from Kirito would only cause him to get even more upset than he would if he had just told him the truth. He knew better than to lie to someone of higher rank than himself.
Key-Tokki
There were many mage's in the land, there were elves who could practically change the seasons if they so wished. However he was certainly not one of them, he was a prince, the prince of the mad king. People expected him to be vastly skilled, to be able to mvoe mountains, literally in face. However, he was only good at small magic. Making a small wind tunnel, making a paper bird fly. He could make a fire a bit more or less intense, close doors and things on the small scale. But there was no way he would be much help in a fight, or anything like that. His father was amazing with magic, he specialized in what was called rage magic. He could harbour all his ill-will and redirect it, using it as large blasts and huge explosions. The king usually stayed behind the scenes, but not his father, his father enjoyed the thrill of battle to much. Kirito already knew the answer before the other even opened his mouth, he could tell by the mans face. To his relief, he saw a bit of guilt there. He had been afraid he was going to get a guard who was trigger happy, but Shinya clearly had a conscience. With a bit of luck, it looked like this may not have been a bad arrangement at all. He just wished it was not built on the death of his friend. Bringing his attention back to the road, he responded, "That's unfortunate, but i'm glad to know you did your job well." The sun could just barely be seen through the clouds by now, it was nearly noon already, but due to the storm everything seemed grey. The bare snow covered trees almost seemed sad, lonely, in this lighting, it brought a chill to the young princes spine.
Arekushisu
Shinya looked away from the other male seeing the flash of emotions on his face. "Yes...very unfortunate.." he said softly guiding his horse after the Prince allowing him to show him the way. His mind was going a million a minute, he was wondering whether or not the Prince was upset with him or not. He really had no ill will to the men who attacked them, he was simply doing his job protecting the Princess. He sighed softly again his body shaking slightly from the cold. Finally town came into view and he inwardly cheered in relief, hopefully they would be going into a store or a building which would be warmer than that of outside. Ran his hands down the large animals neck his tail moving on its rear in a slow lazy motion. His ears flicked slightly the sounds of town coming into them, laughter, and then some sadness but he understood. When the war hit both races had lost money on the war, most times now people were in poverty because of the debts the war had caused.
Key-Tokki
Kirito was quiet for the remainder of there ride, he was not lost in thought, just trying to really figure this Kanier out. Glancing to the side, he noted that the other male was shivering slightly. First thing first, they would have to stop for something warm to drink. The cold was even getting to dark haired prince, adjusting himself in his seat he pulled the coat tighter around himself as the town came into view. "Here we go." He murmured softly, mentally preparing himself for what he knew was coming. If it had been announced that he was visiting the city today there would likely have been a small welcome crowd at the gate, so he purposefully chose to keep his visit incognito for now. The town was large, and tall, the buildings covered high with pure white snow, lights were hung up and light all day and night long. They came to a stop just outside of the city, and he nudged his hoarse over to the stable area. Children ran around the city, so having huge looming animals around was found to be unsafe and were forbidden. Plus, Kirito really didn't want any more attention than absolutely necessary. "How about we tie up the hoarse's and get something warm to drink? Then we can get the rest of the shopping done, sound good?" He asked, bringing his own place hoarse to a beside the stable. Unhooking his foot he swung it over to step down but it got caught on the saddle and he ended falling off the hoarse and landing flat backed in the snow with a sudden 'oof'. Arekushisu
Shinya nudged his horse to the stables talking to it softly in his native tongue. "Alright sounds fine with me." he had said softly getting down swiftly front he animal and moving to help the prince. Surprising enough he had assumed he would be alright dismounting do to the fact he mounted it perfectly. So when he noticed the prince falling he could not move fast enough to catch him. He made it to him quickly however kneeling beside him, "Are you alright? Anything hurt?" he asked moving the Prince into a sitting position touching him for the first time since they had been with one another. He was searching his body for injuries yet found none, he looked into Kirito's eyes, "You're okay?" he asked again taking his hand in his helping him up. He sighed in relief knowing that the other male had not reacted in pain therefore he was alright. He took the reins from both horses and walked them to the post tying them up quickly before grabbing his sword which were on the saddle bag. "You really should be more careful, you can always ask for help from me if you wish." he said as he rejoined the Prince after taking care of their horses. He had taken their saddles off of them and let them over the post the horses were tied up on. He sighed softly again in relief as he was happy that the prince was not hurt.
