The only good thing about living in a place where there was always snow, was that you could face plant as many times as you wanted and usually avoid any bad injuries. Though he was a bit dazed at the sudden impact, so grateful that the other had come to his aid, if not a bit shocked by it. Nodding to Shinya he responded, "Ah, yeah. Sorry, Cameron always used to help me with that and I haven't ridden since then so probably should have thought that through more." Something very few people knew, was that the prince hated to be touched by most people. He tensed slightly when he felt Shinya's touch on him, but figured if this was his new personal guard then touching would be unavoidable. Kirito used the extended hand to haul himself up, reaching down and brushing the snow off of himself as Shinya went to tie up the hoarses. Turning away from the kanier, he pointed over to the entrace of the city. "Keep your tail close, there was a Kanier prisoner here a while ago, being transported, and someone reached out and sliced off there tail. " He gave his warning before making his way to the mouth of the city, however the moment he stepped foot in the entrance, a small figure jumped out of no where and collided with him. Sending him sprawling to the ground once again. "Kirito!" A small child, no older than 5 squealed out as she looked down at the prince whom she was now sitting on. Her smile was wide and her eyes were big as she looked from him up to Shinya and her smile widened even further. Her eyes widened as she noted the ears, "Kitty! Kirrito has a kitty!" Arekushisu Posted March 4, 2015 Share Posted March 4, 2015 Shinya was behind the Prince once more as they began walking keeping his tail against his body, "You should only need to ask for help and I shall do it." he said softly to him but was shocked his whole body tensing when a small frail body was thrown at them. His first instinct was danger but when he heard the laughter he relaxed. He smiled seeing a cute littler girl ontop of his master. When she took notice of his ears and made a motion for him he bent down motioning for her, "You may touch them if you like." he said smiling softly no sign of any danger or ill hatred on his face. As she came up caressing his ears he closed his eyes and peeked at her watching as she seemed fascinated by it. Really while she was petting him he was trying hard not to start purring, he was sensitive when it came to his ears and tail, wo when someone touched him there he usually made a noise. His eyes moved to Kirito's and he blushed lightly as he was seeing a side of him he didn't often show. He really loved kids, and sadly he could not have children. He was not attracted to women, therefore he could not have a child. He looked away and sighed softly moving to get up as the girl was hoping to be finished. He had no idea if the man would swat at her, or rip her off him, both would undoubtibly make her cry. To his relieve though, he watched the other lean down and Annie reached out with excited fingers to rub them. Kirito let out a sneeze, realizing only now that he had been laying in the snow with the curious child perched ontop of him this entire time. Gingerly, he reached up to keep her stead and ease her off him while he sat up. Pushing himself up from the ground, he once again brushed the snow from his coat and his hair. Now that he was up and ready he could commence with the much needed teasing that was clearly necessary here. "So, not only are you a well worn general in my greatest enemies fleet, and an ex royal guard for a princess. But clearly you have a soft spot for children. I have to admit, you are certainly different." He let out a laugh as Annie looked from him back to Shinya and stepped closer to the prince, pushing her face into his coat as she did. "You promised to come down for my birthday. You promised to bring a cake. You promised to make me one of those paper birds. Mommy said Cameron can't come visit anymore?" She started to mumble, keeping her face burried in the others coat. A pang of guilt crossed his face and he knelt down, wrapping his arms around the sniffling little girl. "Ah well...I find joy in making a child laugh.." he said under his breath but he let it hang there as he heard the soft voice of the younger girl. "I'm sure Cameron will be coming back soon from his trip, he simply has gone away for some time." he said softly and crossed his arms trying to allow the younger to not be heart broken by the death of the guard. He hoped that the younger male would do the same and play along with his little lie he was weaving for the little girl to keep her from being upset. He smiled softly as he watched them, he knew that the name of his late guard gave him a new form of sadness and he didnt want to see the prince sad once more. He laughed softly, "As for your bird i'm sure sire could come up with something. I'll make sure he doesn't forget." he winked at Kirito trying to get him out of the mess he had put himself in. She deserved to know what happened, but not now, not yet. He would tell her some day when she was much older and could understand why it happened, but for now he just wanted her to continue to live in the blissful world of an innocent child. Leaning back slightly, he nodded in confirmation at what Shinya had said, thanking the gods that the guard had spoken up before he had to. The small child looked from the feline to the young prince and smiled wide before she responded. "I'll work really hard and make the bird myself, then he can make sure you remember?" Turning to the guard, she gave a small, messy curtsy before taking off back into the city. A visible sigh of relief left the princes lips as soon as she was out of view. He composed himself again and glanced over at the other, smiling a thanks. Kirito was more thankful than he could express right now, "Thanks for that, Cameron and I came down the day before and he promised to make one for her next time. She's probably been waiting all this time." For a moment he could feel sadness tug at his heart, but chose to walk right over it, not wanting it to ruin his surprisingly uplifted mood. He watched her run off and he smiled at the Prince nodding, "You're welcome Sire. Only looking our for you." he smiled softly following the other male and making sure he was alright emotionally and mentally. He walked behind them as they entered the city and he looked about seeing people looking back at him. His ears flattened and he stayed looking ahead of him, he didnt look back at any of the people not wanting the stares to get to him. At the mention of food he smiled, "Ah..food yes that would be wonderful! I am starving actually.." he said softly holding his stomach his tail flicking and moving in the snowy air. He hadn't eaten since yesterday morning before they had left to go to the castle. His kind used a lot of energy with event he smallest amount of magic, so food was the biggest industry here. While they were well known for it, Kirito was always extremely picky, which is what most of his tutors attested his lack of magical ability to. The fact that he just didn't have enough energy to fuel it. He fell into step beside the other instead of walking in front of him like most master and guards do, wanting to give the Kanier the option of picking where he wanted to eat. There was a large transparent dome around the city that kept any raging wind out, so it was calm and the snow was falling softly. The dark haired male began to point at various locations and stores that were ahead of them, "There is a bakery there with extremely good buiscuts and cupcakes, though there a bit sweet. The small cabin looking shop right there specializes in traditional cuisine, it has the best warm drinks in town." That sounds good, warm drinks too." he smiled and motioned to the building he had been pointed to. He didnt say anything about the people around him yet he felt some people touch his tail and he moved a little faster pulling his tail into his hands and looked at the male who had touched it growling at him barring his teeth. He rolled his eyes and followed the male and sighed softly stroking his tail thinking about the hate in these peoples lives. He noticed that everyone had an ugly look for him and an ugly comment for him if he looked at them. He knew they were good people at heart but the pain his race had caused these people made them this way. He kept his eyes low yet he was happy that the Prince was walking next to him. Key-Tokki Posted March 4, 2015 Author Share Posted March 4, 2015 Though Kirito wanted to stop and make a scene about respecting the Kanier like he had with the guards earlier, he knew that this was neither the time nor the place for it. If he wasn't the prince, then the Kanier would likely have been attacked then and there, and even he would likely have been killed as a treason to the crown. But luckily, neither had to worry about it due to there positions. However he flashed the man who grabbed Shinyas tail a warning look, but that was the most he felt like he should do right now. It was understandable, the hate had been there for a very long time and then to just see one walking beside your prince, it was certainly unsettling for them. "What's the prince doing? He should know he is to weak hearted, that thing will corrupt him." He heard someone whisper harshly and his ear twitched in annoyance, however he was well known for his patience so simply kept his eyes trained on the small cabin. As soon as they approached the door was pulled open and a smiling male was at the door, motioning them inside. "Please, please my good prince. Do come in, take any seat you would like and order anything your heart desires!" He had a large beer belly and seemed rather jolly, though all his joy seemed to be directed at Kirito. He looked at the large man that had opened the door for them and he looked away walking with Kirito and he motioned to a small table away from the windows and any other people eating, "Can we sit there?" he asked looking at the other male hoping he would understand that he was tired of being looked at like a specimen in a jar. He looked around the small cabin taking in the smells around him, the food smelled delicious and he hoped they would be able to eat soon. He had heard what some of the men had said about him corrupting the Prince however, Shinya was a very sweet person. He killed only when he had to and he usually cried after he did so, he hated hurting people but to protect his country he would do it for them. Hell, some did both. Taking his seat, he reached over to the menu and quickly flipped it open. It was filled to the rim with different delicacies, the longer the two boys sat there the less attention they seemed to draw. After a while, he hopped that Shinya could actually feel at home here, and the people could get used to him, but he knew how unlikely that probably was. The man who had welcomed them to the door, made his way over to the two. Giving them both huge greens, he spoke, "So what can I get you you both on this fine afternoon? I wanted to thank you for visiting sire, it has been a while, always a pleasure." Kirito glanced over at Shinya and waited for him to order first. He started looking through the menu not really recognizing any of the food that was displayed on the menu and he sighed softly looking up at the man who had walked up, "Um...I would like whatever the Prince is having.." he said softly blushing lightly as he shut the menu. "I'm sure you pick a good dish Sire." he laughed softly and tilted his head itching one of his ears. When he was finished it flicked back up and moved here and there before finally stopping. He didnt really know any of the dishes here nor if they would be good for him to eat, his body was somewhat different compared to Kirito's but he believed he would be alright with whatever the other male picked. "Well, I think the hazelnut coffee here is the best you can get, and the basil soup is good as well. They grow all the herbs for it in the back so it's always fresh. So we will have two of those." He answered finally, before folding his menu and allowing the waiter to pick up his and Shinyas. The two weren't sitting there for 30 seconds before an extremely tall elf came towards them, set a chair down, and sat at it haughtily. His eyes going from the prince to the Kanier, hatred in them for both. With a flick of his head, he whispered something softly and the candle that lit the lantern on the table flickering a moment before going out completely. Kirito's kept all emotion from his face as he reached up to relight the candle, the man spoke, turning towards Shinya. "So, dare I ask what made you step foot in our calm, peaceful city?" He was going to ask him about the food he would be eating but he was interrupted by another male sitting down with him. Shinya's eyes closed a moment and his hands moved to the dagger hidden on his left arm. "If you have looked around your calm and peaceful city hasn't been like this for long. I set foot here to make that possible so you could sleep at night without Kanier soldiers slicing your throat open while you sleep." he said looking straight at Kirito hoping he would understand he was talking big not meaning it. They had been in the city for less than 5 minutes, he really did not want a fight already, especially since he had no doubt the Kanier would win and there could be possible blood shed. Though the look on the other mans face said it all, he too looked shocked for a moment, then immediately a look of rage crossed his eyes. He stood up suddenly, but before the situation could get any worse, the man with the pot belly returned. His large, beefy hand clapped over the aggrivated elf's shoulder and squeezed tightly. "Now, Robin, you wouldn't be bothering my most important customers, would you know? It would be a shame for you to get banned, I know this is where your buddies like to hang out." There was a hidden undertone of threat in the mans voice, but it clearly got across, because the elf known as Robin gave a respectful bow towards Kirito before sweeping his coat tail behind himself and stalking out. The owner simply grunted at him indignitly before taking the huge, steaming mugs off the tray and setting them down, as well as then carefully the soup. "Enjoy, let me know if there is anything else I can do for you." Smiling, he turned and strode back into the kitchen. Kirito waited until he was out of view before reaching over and taking Shinya's bowl of food and mug and switching them with his own. They ordered the same thing, but the dark haired boy switched them anyway. Lifting the mug to his lips he blew on it lightly before taking a sip and sighing contently, "Now that, is amazing." Shinya sighed softly and relaxed nodding an apology to the waiter and he moved to eat. "Why did you switch them Sire?" he asked taking a drink of the warm liquid that had been sat between them. He was curious as to why the other male had decided to switch out their food, he understood that they were the same meal however he assumed that it was a precaution, so he would eat the meal for the Prince just in case someone tended to poison it or anything. He looked down at the soup and took a bite of it groaning softly at the pure bliss it gave him, he started eating now and he didnt stop till it was all gone. His ears flicked and moved as he listened to the people around him laughing and talking about all different things from sex to the war and back again. He chuckled softly listening to one conversation about a male who had met up with a beautiful girl and got laid that same night by her. Key-Tokki Posted March 4, 2015 Author Share Posted March 4, 2015 Kirito leaned forward and put his elbow on the table so that he could rest his head in his hand, letting out a long yawn as he watched the other clearly enjoy the food. Good, he was glad. He had a picky guard once who refused to eat most foods unless directly ordered to, so the man ended up basically a stick by the end of his service. "Hm?" He murmured, the lul of the conversations around him as well as his hand that was wrapped around his warm mug were quickly easing him into a soft, comfort zone. Pushing his bowl of soup towards the other, he held up his pointer finger before dipping it into the soup about an inch. Murmuring a low spell, the words sounded lighter than a whisper on his lips. A dark cloud appearing around the princes finger, turning the soup pitch black. Reaching over he picked up a napkin and whipped his finger off on it carefully. "You have my back I have yours, right? The owner here can really cook, but he loves drama and fights, he thrives off of them. There is no way he would have called down a fight between Robin and yourself unless he wanted to see something more exciting happened. Your soup was laced with some kind of poison, not sure if it was deadly or not." He spoke softly before smiling apologetically at the man, the own could be seen cursing softly in the corner, knowing fully well he was caught. I only ate some of it there is about half left. You really should eat something you're very small." he said worried about the other male. He didnt want to have taken his food from him and now he felt bad that he was eating and the other male wasn't. He really hated that, "I believe he is a nice man however I am a nice man as well and I don't kill people just because." he said under his breath looking over at the owner who locked eyes with him then went on about his business. "Plus, I can take care of myself when it comes to hand to hand and physical fights however if you hadn't switched them I would have eaten that without a clue there was something bad in it." he said nodding at the other male. "Well if things with Robin went sour I would have been in some trouble, this is about as extensive as my magic gets." He flicked a finger at the soup before pushing half eaten soup back towards the other. "You can finish, i'm not hungry, was just dying for something to drink. It's good that happened here, the word will spread and no one in this city is going to poison there prince so you should be able to eat what you like now." Leaning back in his seat he stretched out, is ears twitching slightly in relief. Most people were already back to there normal buisness, which meant that easing a Kanier into society might be easier than he thought it was going to be. "When you are done, i've got to pick up a few things at a store near here, then stop one more place. Is there anywhere you wanted to look at?" He asked, taking another, rather large, drink. "Lets go then, I would like to get back to the castle if you wouldn't mind." he was uncomfortable out in the open for all the hating eyes to look at him with disgust. He wanted to go back to where he was somewhat accepted and could be with the Prince just the two of them without the eyes of others preying on them. He sighed softly and stood stretching out his back his tail straightening out moaning softly as he did so. He yawned himself running a hand through his hair as he moved to help the Prince up. Key-Tokki Posted March 4, 2015 Author Share Posted March 4, 2015 Kirito's eyes widened slightly, the soft light that emmited from the lamps and lights outside were shinning into the also dimmly lit cabin, and when he caught a glimpse of the other male his breath caught in his throat. The light hit his skin beautifully, making his eye lashes cast a long shadow across the mans cheeks, his hair shinning softly. His body was lengthy and elegant when he stretched out the kinks, the Kanier, at least this one, really were a beautiful people. Kirito cleared his throat gently, confused as to why those thoughts had just come over him. Stacking the dishes today, he made sure the one with the now black soup was now on top so it could be seen by anyone near the table. Turning towards the door, he carefully let the other man outside, back into the freezing cold air. The days were much shorter here, so there was a lot less daylight, the sun was already lowering in the sky. It could faintly be seen past the thickening pile of clouds, "Alright, so I just need the herbs and we can head back. I'll go down to the cemetary next time we come down, it's not safe there this close to sundown." He spoke as he turned in the direction of a store that had a huge sign on it and a large basil leave. Arekushisu Posted March 4, 2015 Share Posted March 4, 2015 Shinya noticed the younger male looking at him and his cheeks reddened slightly as he relaxed again, "Alright however...I can protect you Sire if you wish we can go to the Cemetery today." he said following him out of the cabin they had been in. He hadn't known what was going through the others head but he seemed to have found something interesting in Shinya's looks. He was slightly proud of the way he looked, the colors of his fur and hair were unique for his people. Usually it was black ontop of white or just brown or black fur. His however was slightly pink under white which was something no one usually saw. He smiled softly at the other male moving closer to him, "Really if you wish to go we may. I don't mind...I understand the need." he said softly to the other moving to the door they were going to and opened it for him letting the Prince walk in past him. He hoped he would take his offer rather than take him home instantly, he wanted the other male to have closure rather than being upset about Cameron anymore than he already was. It sometimes made people happier if they visited their loved ones and let them in on some of the things going on in their lives at that time. Key-Tokki Posted March 4, 2015 Author Share Posted March 4, 2015 Kirito couldn't help but smile in relief when the male said he didn't mind staying a bit longer, the cemetery was dangerous at night, that was for certain, but it was something he'd been putting off and it needed to be done. He stepped into the small shop, and instantly the smell of strong herbs smacked them in the face making him cough a bit and wave his hand in front of his nose at the odar. It did not smell bad persay, it was just extremely potent. A short, elderly woman who looked like she was way beyond her years quickly, well trying to be quick, hobbled over to the two. Her back was hunched slightly, no doubt worn from age, so she had to look up at them. "Welcome dearies, it's been a while Sire? I trust you fair well?" Her voice was soft and high pitched. "I'm looking for some herbs for some tea that will chase away any cold germs, and something for appetite elevation." She made a coo'ing sound before hobbling over to a counter with many jars on it. "Still haven't been eating then I take it Sire? You can always send for some medicine or herbs and I can have one of my boys take them to the palace for you instead of coming all the way here, i'm sure they'd love the experience anyway." He smiled at her but said nothing as she continued to put a few things in the bag before turning to address Shinya. "Did you need anything Kanier?" He sighed softly hearing that the other male hadn't been eating. So he had been right, he was neglecting his health probably do to the depression that the other male had received from the loss of his guard. He tilted his head at the question and he shook his head, "No thank you." he said his tail flicking agitated at the fact he was called by his race. "And my name is Shinya, not Kanier." he said coldly leaving the little hut before he would say something even worse than that. He leaned up against the wall waiting for the other male to come out and when he did he pushed off the wall and smiled the boy making his mood lighten. He stopped however, and glanced back at the lady before speaking, "He's really not bad, so try and treat him with a little respect okay?" She seemed a bit surprised but a soft smile crossed her face as she seemed to understand. Reaching up she gave him a gentle pat on the back before leading him out of the door and waving at them both before turning back inside to see to her other customers. He adjusted the bag in his hands before glancing over into the direction of the cementary, his lips pursed as his hold tightened slightly. Turning his back, he began to walk the opposite way, back in the direction of the castle. "We are going to head back for today, i'm pretty worn out right now so want to get back and bath and sleep."
