Shinya sighed softly and nodded, "Alright...if you say so.." he said and followed him taking the bag of herbs from him and smiled softly. "You shouldn't hide from those who loved you Kirito.." he said softly just so the other male could hear him. "I know it hurts..but he probably wishes you to see him." he said softly before walking ahead of him grabbing the horses reins and tying the bag of herbs onto his horse. He smiled softly and clasped his hands together kneeling sightly allowing of a leg up for the prince to get on his horse. "I don't want you falling again, your father would have my head." he chuckled softly and gave him a leg up before handing him his reins.

 

He really did wish the other male would face his late guard however he knew that he may still need time, it had only been months sense the death of the others guard. He mounted his own horse and he nudged it to the castle looking back at the other male. "When we get to the castle would you like me to run you a bath?" he asked sweetly his body moving slightly with the animal as it moved restlessly on its legs ready to go rather than stay standing in the freezing cold.

Kirito heard Shinya and for a moment, just flicker of a second, something more than just his calm fascade flickered across his face. However it was gone it what seemed like less than a minute, as he responded, "The dead do not wish for anything, there dead. There time for wishes, desires, dreams, is over." It was the first time anything other than a calm disposition had crossed the prince in the others company, and he managed to catch himself a bit to late. A part of him felt like he should apologize, but somehow the words just didn't want to come out. Reaching up, he put one foot in the Kaniers hands and used it to pushing himself up high enough that he could hoist himself over onto the hoarses back.

 

Softly nudging his hoarse forward, he considered the others offer for a moment, but before he could answer 6 large hoarses with equally as large men slowly strode out of the woods, standing right in front of the path and blocking it. Kirito's hoarse reared it's head slightly before taking a few wary steps backwards. The one of the front spoke, his voice was soft and pleasent, but it was clearly forced. "Excuse me, Shinya was it? We were hoping to have a word with you, in private if you would be so kind?"

Shinya winced lightly at the spit of words hit his ears. He looked down and sighed pretending not to have heard the painful words leave the others mouth. Shinya instantly moved his horse before the Princes although it was informal in this situation it was allowed, "Yes...however why must we talk in private if it is five other men in addition to yourself. I don't see that as private." he said his horse pawing at the ground under him sensing his aggravation. His eyes scanned the other men, "And if you wish to speak with me, I would like to safely escort the Prince home before we talk freely on my time. I am still on duty and am unable to take the free time to talk with someone about whatever petty problems they may have with me." he said his head held high as he spoke authority in his voice. He looked back at the Prince and winked playfully before he moved his horse slightly, "If you would allow me to escort him home, you may follow and talk with me as soon as he is safe with his family." he said sourly knowing what would become of it. He only hoped the prince need not watch and he hoped it wasn't in front of the town.

Kirito;s grip on his hoarse's reigns tightened as he felt it back up a bit more, only steadying when his visions of the invaders was blocked by the view of Shinya and his hoarse. He wanted to reach down and and pet her to calm her but found himself absolutely frozen. The prince was soft, completely a defensive type of fighter, there were six of them and only one among him and Shinya who were worth anything in a fight. Despite his worry, Shinya seemed to be handeling himself like the pro he was. Somehow, just having Shinya wink at him, like he had total control of the situation, managed to calm his nerves a bit. His grip on the reigns that was almost tight enough to draw blood loosened slightly, he needed to trust his new guard. One of the figures in the back nudged there horse forward ever so slightly, a soft, girly voice rose from under the hood that hide her face. "Unfortunetly, there is a big storm you know. We are very understanding, but sometimes arrows can go a bit crazy. It would be a shame if one slipped from my archers fingers and implanted itself in the back of your head, Kanier." Kirito leaned towards her and went to say something but the figure held up a slim finger. "Hush now, little prince. This has nothing to do with you, you would be wise to just turn around and go back to the city. Or perhaps my archers arrow will take down more than just the Kanier."

Shinya had a decision to make and he looked from his new master back to the men and he sighed softly, "Kirito go back to the woman we saw earlier today. Please do not argue with me, just go." he said his voice stern. He looked at the younger male and smiled softly at him, "Your safety is higher than that of my own. So please turn and go." he said moving his hand to his sword. "As for you, I would like you to stop threatening my master, keep your beefs with me and not with that of my master." He said softly to the other men his eyes flicking a deadly look. His hand caressed the horse that was below him and he looked at the one who had stepped forward. He didnt know what to make of it but he really hated the fact that they were picking fights wit him on the first night he was here.

Kirito didn't move, he was scared, he was a noble prince, born and raised to fight for what was right, but right now, he was just scared. He parted his lips to argue with the other but found himself cut off by the guard, a bit surprised that the man had known he was going to object. "No, I ca-." He started to argue, but as soon as one of the hooded figures began to pull out a long, sharp sword, his hoarse acted on it's own. It reared up, causing him to cling to him for dear life before it took off away from them, back towards the town. Kirito's eyes were shut tightly as he clung to it's mane. He only glanced behind him for a minute before seeing the figures receeding. And there goes another guard. His mind whispered softly, eyes widening, Kirito took hold of the reigns and pulled back the hoarse until it stopped. Carefully, he dismounted it, reaching up to steady her and put his face to hers. "Just here, alright? Please, try not to wonder off." Kissing it's forehead, he carefully made his way into the woods so he could try and wind around and attack from the back.

 

The figures all had swords or bows drawn now, clearly they were not elves because elves had no need for weapons. the figure closest to Shinya spoke, "Well wasn't that humble of you? We just want to talk, don't get your tail in a bunch." After a few moments silence, a figure in the back laughed, "Ha, literally!"

As he heard Kirito argue he shot him a look of warning and he was relieved as the horse acted on its own and bolted taking the prince away from danger. He unsheathed his sword and moved his horse so he was looking straight at them. "If we were simply talking you wouldn't have had your men unsheathe their weapons and string their bows." he said cold and he looked at the one talking. "Now, we may talk since the children have left. What is your business with me? I have no ill will towards anyone as of now, however you attack me first and I can not insure your safety." he said looking the other men over.

The one closest to him removed her hood, she looked like no older than 15, her hair was a mass of strawberry blonde curls and her eyes were bright blue. If she were seen in any other circumstances she would likely look like a beautiful princess. "I simply came to tell you a story is all, a quick tale, and then to ask for your opinion on what you want to do after." Clearly her throat, she took a step towards him, those behind her aiming there arrows just in case anything got out of hand. "Do you know why, they call the king of this land, the mad king? Because in short, he is mad. He will murder these people, and your own. He's unbearibly strong, someone with his kind of power should not hold a crown. He had three sons, now he has one. Do you know why? Only one of the were killed because of the war, the other was found beaten to death in his chambers one night. Now who do you think could do that and get away wit hit? None other than the mad king of course." Her vocie was soft and playful, almost a tone of sinnister to it." Looking down she put her foot in the snow and drew a smiley face with the tip of her feet. "So I have come to ask for a favour, kill the prince. If you do, we can catch the mad king off guard. If you can't help, then we will kill you right now and find someone who can. He has to die, this kingdom, and even yours, need it."

Shinya instatnly dismounted and he tilted his head, "I see no need to kill the Prince, I am fond of him..I have grown feelings for him in the short time we have been with one another. So sadly, I can not do your bidding. My duty is to protect him not to kill him." he said softly walking closer to the girl. "Our kingdoms do not need to be worried about by someone who isn't even apart of them. Our concerns are of no business to you." he said sternly looking down at the child. He patted his horses head and whistled for her to walk away from him and she did and he looked back at his confronters. "I suggest you turn around and go back to where you came from. Seeing as your duty has nothing to do with that of mine, If you wish to kill the King kill him out right, his son should not have to suffer for his mistakes." he said coldly spitting the words out like arrows.

 

He hadn't known Kirito long but it was true that he was amused by the younger male and was interested in him in some ways. He didnt know anything about his father and he really honestly didnt care, he didnt believe what he was hearing and simply spoke his mind not letting the other men know he was slightly doubting his own knowledge of this land he was in. Yet he did prove to his word that no one outside of their Kingdoms should insult us with their worry over a kingdom that isn't theirs.

The small girl stood her ground, reaching out she crossed her arms and let out a low sigh before shaking her head in dissapointment. The other men that were with her, dismounted there hoarses and walked up beside her so they know stood in a large line, blocking the path. "He needs to die, the king is to strong, his power comes from his rage and anger. If he isn't broken things will go bad, especially for your people. Your princess, the one you origianlly pleged your life to, will die. Any of those whom you became close to, ever, will die. This cease fire will last for as long as the king is in a good mood, but the next bad wind that hits him, you could loose everything. The prince, Kirito, i've heard good things about him. He's a good kid, he was not meant for a world like this, ease his pain before he has to suffer. Think logically here, Shinya, your battle records show you are intelegent. So use it to your advantage, help us."

Her voice harded as she raised her hand and all the archers were pointing directly at Shinya. "Or you will be discarded,"

Shinya laughed softly his sword rolling over his hand as he let it flip in his hands taking a fighting stance. "Ah well..your little work trying to persuade me with guilt and emotions isn't going to work. I have left that life behind me. My life is now pledged to Kirito, and sadly I can't let you have him." he said as he let his dagger fly which he had unsheathed while he was talking and heard it sink into the skull of one of the archers. He moved swiftly stepping forward with one hand and knocking one of the other archers off guard before he looked at the girl taking aim with the now bow he had in hand, "Drop your weapons or I will kill her. I have no emotions toward this girl I will let the arrow fly if you do not release you're arrows immediately and let me take my Prince." he said breathing slightly harder as his foot sat ontop of the other guards chest. He looked at the now remaining three guards that were before him. "I will not join you, and that is that, so you should leave before I discard you."

Kirito had planned to come in, kicking and screaming, throwing rocks, sticks or another he could do to help the other. Up close now, he had seen the other attack them, and for a moment had just watched in awe at the sheer speed his guard moved with. He's actually pretty amazing. He thought silently to himself, standing behind a tree and watching, however as soon a he had the girl, his stomach jumped at the need to intervene. He'd missed the previous conversation, so still didn't know why they had come for Shinya. However as he was going to jump out, his foot got caught on a tree root that was hidden in the snow and instead of jumping out in surprise like the magestic prince he was, he gracelessly flopped straight onto his face with a loud 'oof'. Some snow on the branches above him was disturbed as well, and fell to his head unceremoniously. Sitting up, he looked directly at the girl and spoke, "Any chance you could forget that just happened?" Her responce was standing there wide eyed, still at the mercey of Shinya, she burst out laughing. "You! You really are something else!"

Shinya instantly closed his eyes hearing the sound of Kirito's voice, "Make a move toward him, any of you, and I'll kill her. One move and shell be gone. And then you'll be next." he said not moving to look at the other male, "Kirito, come here, get behind me." he said sternly not taking his eyes off the guards at which the woman had with her. He wasn't going to let his guard down, "Please, leave us in peace, we have no wish to bring you any more harm than we have." he said softly looking at the girl. "He does not deserve to die, he is a kind and open hearted boy who hasn't even become a man yet. He has not lived his life and you're going to strip him of that to "help" us." he said shaking his head slightly. "Thats stupid." he said once more his eyes darting between each person. To his surprise help seemed to have been coming, guards of the castle now rained upon them and he smiled softly, seems word had gotten from the town from the spooked horse that something was wrong with the Prince and that he needed assistance. "Now. you may want to run before they descend upon us fully." he said motioning to the men in full body armor.

Kirito quickly pushed himself up off the ground, he went to stand behind his guard, however his gaze caught the girls for just a split moment, and he could feel hatred, more hatred than anyone that young should have all thrown at him. His long ears drooped noticeably as he took his place two feet behind Shinya, this way he wouldn't be in the way if there was more fighting. The curse slowly raised her hands, "I conceed, you win." She spoke, and quickly wretched herself away from Shinya, running straight into the woods, and those that were left of her crew followed suit. A few of the guards who saw the figures take off quickly dashed after them in an attempt to chase them down in the woods. Kirito turned around just in time to be grabbed by one of his guards and thrust into two others, the guard then raised his hand and aimed it straight at Shinya's face, that being the only weapon he needed. " I knew it, give em an inch and they take a mile." He spit out, glaring at the Shinya as though it was completely his fault. "What did you do? Have a gang here to attack? Was it fun for you? " Shinya was now surrounded by guards, and Kirito had his own little protective circle, making it hard for him to get anyones attention to try and set the story right.

Shinya sighed and let the arrow go as he threw the weapons to the ground. His eyes caught Kirito's before he was hit, right in the face. The force made his whole head move to the side and he closed his eyes. He listened as he was told what he had done and he looked up at the guard. "I did no such thing, I was doing my duty to save him." he said softly as he straightened himself out his jaw hurting. He looked over at Kirito through the guards and smiled softly at him letting him know he would be alright. "These men,.." He pointed to the men under him, "Were trying to kill the Prince..As my duty to protect him I did as what I felt right. Look at him, he isn't even hurt, ask him what happened he saw the entire thing." he said coldly his ears flicking in pain.

 

He found this stupid, the fact that he was being blamed for something that not only threatened the princes life but his own as well. He didnt say more however he didnt bow his head to the other male instead he looked at him as if they were equals which he knew would upset him. He understood that they were cautious of him he understood that but he didnt deserve to be punched the moment they came up instantly blaming him. He did as he was told and kept the Prince safe from harm, he assumed he would have been rewarded however thats something he could never have here.

The guard looked Shinya up and down, and glanced back atthe prince who was practically panting in exercision before he'd been yelling behind all the men. If there was any time that being soft spoken was bad, since the attention was now brought to him he was able to push past the men around him and all but stormed up to the head guard. "You will not touch him, ever. He is not only a member of our society now, and a guard, but he is my guard, so he has the grounds to release you from your position whenever he sees fit." The man seemed to pale slightly, clearly assuming that Shinya would not have been granted these options though the princes guard had these by default. "Sire.." He began but Kirito held up a hand, not wanting to here it. "No, you will apologize to him after you have thought about it. Not now, when I am forcing you, and you will apologize to him, not me."

 

All but storming right past the man he reached out and took hold of Shinya's arm and pulled him through the crowd of guards. "Sire, please let us escort you hoe. It's dark and cold and you will have missed dinner at the palace by the time you get back." Kirito simply waved his hand in annoyance before opening his hand, and tiny blue orb with a blue flame inside formed. It would work as a light, thought was clearly weak and didn't do much.

Shinya sighed in relief as he felt the warm touch of the Prince and his smirk on his lips shown to the guard. "Kirito please allow me to call the horse." he said softly to the other male as he tried to get his hands away from the other knowing he didnt like physical contact. "Or I could simply carry you." he laughed softly and jogged to catch up to the other male sighing as he had gotten there. "I don't want you walking all the way there not only that but the horse and I are close already she won't mind coming back for us." He said smiling softly at the other male stopping him to where he couldn't walk any further.

Azure stopped after he was far enough away from the other guards to control himself, he let out a low sigh to calm himself down. There was a slightly tinge of pink to the princes cheek at the idea of Shinya carrying him, clearing his throat he reached up up and brushed a bit of snow out of his hair. "My hoarse took off back towards the city, so if we can both use yours then we won't have to walk back. As soon as we get back i'll look at your cheek." He agreed, cursing softly when a large gust of wind smacked him in the face, making him loose his concentration and the small orb of dim light evaporated. He was not even allowed to use magic, only after it was exstinguished did he realize one of the guards might have seen it and would tattle to his father. He severely hopped not.

Shinya moved pulling the Prince's hood over his face and smiling softly, "Alright then." he whistled for the horse and smiled seeing it run up to him and he caught the reins patting its nose. "Come now lets get you home." he said picking the other male up not waiting for a leg up and put him ontop of the animal before mounting after him. Their bodies were pressed together closer than they had been ever before. He reached around the other male muttering an apology as he took the reins in his hands and nudging the horse forward. He sighed softly as they began the short journey back to the castle.

Kirito was planning on how he could sooth the others cheek, some way without magic. Those who were not good users themselves sometimes had adverse reactions so it was rarely used in the medical fiend on anything without magic capabilities. He was extremely grateful that the hood was pulled down a bit, because the tips of ears went crimson when he was swung up onto the animal. Though he was sure Shinya was strong he didn't look overly bulky or muscular like the majority of the guards so it certainly caught him of guard. Home? His mind whispered softly, if anything a bit bitterly. That was certainly not a place someone ought to call home. He was pulled from his thoughts however, when he felt a warm breath just beside his face and heard the familiar voice. Now he was even more grateful for the hood as his cheeks now matched the reddened color of his ears. Though it was freezing outside, he could practically feel Shinya's warmth radiating from behind him. He felt so safe, so comfortable that for a moment, he almost nodded off, leaning back against Shinya's chest. He managed to catch himself in time and sat back up rigidly, his ears drooping slightly as he let out a yawn.

Shinya sighed softly as his body shivered from the cold ad he sighed his horse guiding them through the storm back to the castle. He felt Kirito lean into him and he blushed lightly before holding onto him tighter. "Were almost there..hold on." he said softly against Kirito's ear as they came in sight of the castle sighing softly as he pulled the horse up to the stables stopping her. "Hold on a moment Sire." he said dismounting and reaching up taking Kirito into his arms, he carried him nodding to the servant who took the horse. "Could you have someone bring up the herbs when you have a moment, I need to get him inside." he said worried the other was exhausted.He carried him up to his room pushing the door to his chambers open and sighed softly, "Time to rest Prince.." he said softly setting him on the bed. "You've had a rough day. Do you wish me to run you a bath?" he asked rolling his shoulders and his jaw clenching and unclenching pain running up his face.

Kirito's cheeks managed do dull down to a simple pink, one that he could easily blame on the cold, though he knew better. He could hear Shinya's soft voice in his ear again but somehow it seemed farther away, he wanted to be in his own bed right now. He' used practically no magic at all, but with his current eating habbits it was more than enough to wear him out. It was actually a bit of a struggle to remain sitting on the horse when he felt Shinya climb down from the hoarse, he all but fell into the Kanier's arms when he was pulled from the hoarse. The moment he felt himself fell into Shinya's arms he let his eyes close, shifting towards the others chest in search of the warm that was emminating from it. Even the servant's face went bright as she watched the guard carry away the prince as the quickly bowed and nodded at Shinya's request. This feeling of warmth, security, and weightlessness spread through him, it felt familar, something he hadn't felt in what seemed like ages now. In that moment, that one, singular moment, he decided that he was relieved that this particular kanier was given to him. When he felt the bed below him he sighed in relief as he relaxed onto it, his room was warm and smelled like smokey wood since he had left the fire going while they were gone. Reaching up he rubbed his face sleepily before using his elbows to prop himself up, opening his eyes and looking up at his Kanier as he responded after a moment. "Not yet, let's get your cheek fixed first, did they bring up the bag yet?" Almost on que, there was a knock at the door and a servant spoke from the other side, "Sire? I have the bag, may I enter?" Letting himself fall back to the mattress he waved a lazy hand before speaking out, "You may enter, I am decent."

Shinya sighed softly and shook his head laughing softly, "Kirito I'll be alright, I'm assuming using the magic you did you're exhausted from it. You come first, I can take care of this." he said smiling softly his hand pushing hair off of the others forehead. He looked up as the servant entered and he stood taking the bag, "Thank you." he said and nodded a thanks as they turned and left the door closing behind them. He sighed softly setting the bag down next to Kirito. He was sadly missing the feeling of the other small figure in his arms, he felt close to the elf already and they had only been with one another for the day. He smiled softly and sat next to kirito looking him over. "Sorry for carrying you, you seemed too tired to walk." he said apologizing.

Kirito let his eyes close as he felt the fingers brush against his forehead, letting out a tired smile rolled over and pushed himself up into a sitting position. Reaching over he pulled the bag closer to himself and pulled out a few of the small bags of herbs along with anything else he had gotten from the small store. Shakinghis head at the others comment, "No reason to be sorry, I really am rather worn out so you made it a lot easier for me." He let out a light laugh before climbing off of the bed and making his way to his side dresser where there was a basic of water. Picking it up, he walked over to the fire with it and hung it above the fore before sprinkling a few of the herbs he had in his hands into it. "What kind of things did you do? You know, for your princess?" He asked, stiring the water with a wooden spoon that lay ont he mantel above it.

Shinya was shocked to hear the question and he sighed softly, "I...I did anything she wished of me Kirito." he said softly standing and looking away the fire hitting the other males face perfectly looking beautiful in the light. He looked away and sighed again, "I bathed her, I dressed her, I even...had romantic nights with her. However I had no feelings in it." he said sickly. "I actually hated every minute of it...however the Princess is a lonely person. And she took refuge in me.." he said his head going into his hands. He chuckled softly and shook his head, "Sorry You didnt ask that, I know, but i'm happy that you won't use me that way as she had." he said laughing softly.
