To escape the stressful and competitive environment of his household, he applied for a full-time position at a local café. Reluctantly, his parents—though against his decision—provided him with an upscale apartment. In rejection of the mannerisms he developed all his life, he embraced a rebellious personality, to forget his past lifestyle. However, his whole life he has always had an intimidating demeanor, resulting in his kind efforts often misunderstood. Fortunately, his co-worker and future friend understands his intentions.

In the midst of blazing, late-summer heat and heavy humidity, a rare, refreshing breeze granted relief to the unfortunate souls outside. Many of sought out salvation in air-conditioned shops and restaurants, rejuvenating themselves before embarking to work or home once more.

Down a quiet street away from city traffic, a small, quaint café sat tucked away, beneath the canopies of two, maple trees. Their rustling, scarlet leaves added to the café's charm. Such a serene image would envelop anyone in a state of relaxation. Unfortunately, the peaceful scene was abruptly ruined by a pair of angry customers storming out.

"W-Wait," a tall man called out to them. The two women didn't stop for a moment. "Damn it," the man muttered, scratching his head of brown hair. "That's the third pair this week." He sighed and readjusted his name tag, before returning inside. "Felix" it read.

Trevor stood by the door of the cafe, just about to go out on the streets after his shift for the first day. He nearly manages to dodge his incoming co-worker. He nearly knocks into the walk, but a set of friendly arms catch him. He smiles at the baker, Felix, his co-worker. He sighs disappointedly when his arms were let go of him. "I'll see you tomorrow. Have a good night. Oh and here, since we were like a well oiled machine together as a team, I thought I would give you my number, for when you get off work...maybe we can do something after. Movie or anything out in public activity." He said cheerfully. "Well see you later, hope to see your number on my phone~" He then steps to the side and goes out the door.

Felix stared at the small slip of paper, not raising his head, as he waved goodbye to his new co-worker—Trevor. "Yeah...bye...," his voice trailed off, as he slipped further into deep thought. He was frozen in confusion, mind trying to make sense of it all. "What did I do today that would lead up to receiving someone's phone number? How can he act casual so easily? People are usually keep their distance. I don't understand. I must be missing something..." Attention divided by his internal chaos, Felix failed to hear the café owner call out to him multiple times.

A loud thwack from overhead brought him back to reality. The owner had abandoned his position inside. In his hand was a rolled up magazine—his tool of choice today for hitting Felix on the head. "Oww, what was that for, Jason?" Another hit was delivered. "What was that for? We have hungry customers, yet no one's in the kitchen! And how many times do I have to tell you that it's Mr. Ashton!" "But your name tag says 'Jas-," Felix bit his tongue, from being interrupted by another attack. "Don't get smart with me. Now get back in there!" Felix swallowed another retort and followed the owner inside.

Customers tensed and averted their gaze, as he walked past. The usual chatter was replaced with heavy silence. "This is why I always work kitchen and never take orders: Because of this face of mine. I didn't ask for menacing face." He absent-mindedly made eye contact with a woman who happened to look up. Her eyes widened nervously, before she hastily lowered her head. Felix clicked his tongue, in irritation. Her flinch at the sound weighed on his heart. "Jeez, lady. I didn't even say anything to you. Judging me with such shallow eyes...I bet you all never bother to consider how your reactions continually put chinks in this armor of mine."

"Quicken the pace, Felix." The owner was already standing at his station, brewing fresh cups of coffee. "Yes, Jaso-," The owner's dagger eyes kept Felix from continuing. "Yes, Mr. Ashton," Felix mumbled, returning to his place in the kitchen as head baker.

After sending out dozens of pastries and other menu items, Felix's shift had come to an awaited end. Once he clocked out for the day, he slumped into a folding chair, in the employee, break room. "Ah, finally! That evening rush was never-ending," he sighed, tone saturated with exaggerated fatigue. The rigid, metal frame of the chair dug into his back. "That cheapskate. He needs to invest in better stuff for us employees, not just the customers." As he shifted in discomfort, the paper slip from earlier fell from his pocket. He examined it for a long time, as though the scribbled numbers were a code to answers for his numerous questions. "It's gotta be a joke," he told himself, yet there was curiosity in his words.

"Ah, what the heck. I have nothing to lose." He retrieved his phone from his locker and dialed in the number. After a brief moment of hesitation, he clicked the "call" button. Felix listened to the dial tone intently.

Trevor was home when the call came in. He was just starting to remove his uniform's tie and had taken his shoes off at the entry of the house. He felt the vibe of his phone in his pocket and heard the ring, was a unidentified caller with his same area code. He smiles and says into the receiver, "Hello?" He then goes over to his couch and sits down as he is looking at the tv. Which he must have turned on for background noise once he arrived home. He with polite ness, turns it one mute for the call. He hears a response. He then goes into the kitchen and gets him a healthy snack and water. He asks if it's Felix, his cafe co-worker, a bit tiredly.

"A-Ah, hello?" Felix was somewhat surprised. It wasn't a prank number. "It's Felix from work. Um...," his voice trailed off, at a loss for what to say. He was never one to invest time nor effort into relationships. He had became jaded, after many rejections and misunderstandings. Now, he wished he had accumulated at least a little experience, to hold a decent conversation with Trevor.

"Well, here I am. I called you, as you wanted. What do you want?" Before he could catch himself, the curt remark escaped his lips. He smacked his palm against his forehead, exasperated. "Now I've done it," he thought, mentally cursing at himself.

Trevor heard the remark, but soon followed by the sound of a face palm. So he grinned a bit arrogantly, now replacing the conversation into his favor. He noticed the flaws of the other, but he also saw the kindness behind Felix. He knew it was a tough guy act or front he was putting up.

So Trevor has in his mind, to be as honest and loyal as he can. "Hey Felix, work was tiring for you? By the way, if this conversation goes on some odd tangent, or I fall sleep. Please don't hesitate to hang up or distract me with another thing to do, like texting. I will not hold a grudge against it, at all~" He said now, more energetic with the phone call. He smiles more sincerely, already fond of this Aries. Just from a simple phone call no less. "But what I wanted, was exactly what I had stated at the cafe. Lunch perhaps or just a day out to see how we get along. Maybe we will find out how we will get along just from working together."

The Leo's personality was just soaking up all the attention he was getting from the Aries. He smiled more happily as his positivity showed in his voice. He loosens up his tie some more, making ease of the buttons to the middle of his shirt. He then lets down his own guard, by laying down on the couch with his cell up to his ear. He also turns off the television.

Concern from another—whether it was sincere or not, Felix didn't know how to properly register such an expression. He tried to think nothing of it. "Work? Ah, it was a pain. The orders weren't paced properly, and my assistant left early, so I was left to handle the lunch and evening rush on my own. And don't even get me started on Jason. He gets on my case for the smallest of things." Felix paused, hesitant to continue. He couldn't believe how open he was right now, laying his private complaints on the table for a new acquaintance. He tried to recover his image with something positive. "But I do enjoy working there. Seeing the customers' expressions of delight, when they taste my pastries, it makes me feel accomplished." "Ah, that sounded weird. Was that too much," he thought, regretting the direction this conversation was taking. Whether he was fully aware of it or not, nothing could conceal his contentment in bringing people happiness, at least, before they caught a glimpse of him.

"So what do you think of the café so far?"

Trevor listened to every word that Felix had to say with interest. "I'm sorry I was not there to help. But I have a morning shift to get me used to it. Well I'm only part-time at the cafe. But if you need help in the kitchen, maybe I can ask Jason to give me a full time position?" He smiles. "I would like to work with you and be there more." He stops talking for a respond, a bit shy to say much more of why he would like to do so.

"But it is only the first day, I have been there as a cashier selling those wonderful pastries of your's. But I also plan to serve customers at tables, maybe bus boy as well. Do you think I can handle all that?" He asks keeping up with his own thoughts and flow of what he wants to say.

"The cafe is a beautiful place to be at. I like the atmosphere. The decor of the outside is peaceful." He smiles.

Felix blushed at the praise regarding his skills. He had received many compliments indirectly before, due to his intimidating presence. Hearing such positive feedback right into his ear was encouraging yet embarrassing somehow. He blushed deeper, when he realized his cheeks were hot with his honest fluster.

Felix tried to regain control of the conversation. "D-Don't judge something so quickly. You should try my pastries, before giving customers recommendations and such." His usual, smug tone was returning. He relaxed more, grinning at Trevor's enthusiasm to work. "And don't underestimate the responsibilities of kitchen staff either! It's not easy. As head baker, I run a tight ship!" Felix could feel his zeal towards baking getting out of hand, but he couldn't find the brakes. "In fact, you should get a little experience of what it's like first, before you get all gung-ho about it. I have opening shift tomorrow, so I'll open the café earlier than usual, and you could join me in the kitchen, before Jason gets there."

After a moment of silence, Felix's grinning face turned into a look of dread. His brain finally swept his passion away with logic. Internally, he cursed at himself. "What the hell am I saying," he thought nervously. He prayed into the vast universe that—somehow—Trevor wasn't listening completely.

As the other was dealing with a honest fluster, which he usually gets himself from time to time. He allows the other to recover from it. He let out a little bit of a whimper from the other's direction of the call. "Sorry~" His face turned from cheerful to on the defense. "But I should try them, indeed. I want to be able to sell them just as you would with such passionate emotion put into them. They drew me into the cafe to be honest. Oh a casual work experience would be nice. I will be there. I prefer that over anything. What time?" He speaks and asks. He then blurts out the following. "Mind if I put you on speaker as I change clothes and would you like to go for a light dinner tonight?" He yawns. "No drinking though, because it's a work week."

He gets up from the couch and puts it on speaker, then walks to his room before a yes even came through on the cell. He grabs clean worn light blue jeans and a v-neck, tossing them on his bed. Then a over shirt of teal, black, and grey checkers, then tosses it on the bed as well. He quickly strips and changes.

He then goes to his bathroom and brushes and restyles his hair all the while on the phone.

"You can come inside the café, tomorrow at 8:00AM. I'll already be inside, getting preparations done." Felix nodded to himself, in satisfaction. This would be a pleasant close for his night.

"Mind if I put you on speaker as I change clothes and would you like to go for a light dinner tonight?"

"Eh?!" Felix jumped out the folding chair, knocking it over in the process. A metallic bang sounded through the room, and—perhaps—into the owner's management room. "Damn, that was too loud," Felix muttered under his breath, as he collapsed the chair and set it against the wall. "I've got to get out of here, before Jason wonders what all the racket is about," he quietly decided.

It wasn't long before the sound of clothes rustling over the phone reminded him of what Trevor had asked. "W-Wait, dinner? Tonight? But-," the sound of distant movement came over the line. "H-Hey! Don't dress over the phone!" Pairing images with the sounds he was hearing, Felix's uncooperative conscious began conjuring up thoughts of Trevor dressing himself. He shook his head free of the uncalled-for imagination. With Trevor taking the conversation into his capable hands once more, Felix couldn't get a word in at all.

"Whatever! I'll get ready, but I'm putting the phone down, and it won't be on speaker." Setting his cell phone onto the break room table, Felix rummaged through his bag for his change of clothes. He ruminated over them with scrutinizing eyes. "What do I wear for this sort of thing? Is a casual outfit okay," he wondered but immediately stopped himself short. "Wait, why should I even care? It doesn't matter!" Felix couldn't believe how anxious he was getting over a simple invitation. He concluded that it must be due to his lack of friendly, social interaction.

Nevertheless, he couldn't sincerely complain about being yanked around. That puzzled him. He wondered if solitude was taking its toll on his well being. "Hey," he said into the phone, as he gathered his belongings and shut the locker. "I'm ready. Where do I meet you?"

He heard the clink of a chair over the phone. He smirks, once again Felix was getting flustered. Trevor resisted chuckling. "I will see you inside a restaurant, called The Paradise Grill. I'll be wearing a blue checked shirt." He smiles. "See you there kinda soon~" He smiles, his own heart skipping as he hangs up. He sighs out a nervous breath. He brushes his teeth and gathers his things, wallet, keys, and money.

He then walks out the door as his parents were just getting home. "We have the door." Meaning they would lock it once inside for the night. He smiles and greets them, quickly placing a kiss on his mother's cheek. "Call me if you need ride home if you even do." His mother said. "Yes ma'am. I love you mom." He goes over to his car parked outside on the street and gets in, belting himself in all the time still holding his cell. He sets it into his chest shirt pocket then drives off towards the grill restaurant.

"The Paradise Grill? Okay, see you later." Felix hung up quickly. It took all of his effort to keep his voice from wavering at Trevor's playful tone. He wondered whether it was a joke or truly a personality he wasn't prepared for.

"Jason, I'm leaving now. Remember to lock up," Felix mentioned in the direction of the management room, as he headed for the door. "Who do you think you're talking to? I know how to close for the night," the owner yawned, leaning back in his swivel chair to stretch. He didn't catch Felix's informality quick enough. "Wait a second! I told you to call me Mr. Ashto-," The café owner's retort was curtly cut off by Felix nonchalantly closing the door.

As he walked down a street that was busy with the loud, bustling commotion of nightlife, Felix found himself humming to himself. The Paradise Grill—a personal favorite—was a new restaurant he often frequented. He enjoyed the lively atmosphere, serving himself, and the rambunctious crowd that always made him feel comfortable. Spotting the restaurant's familiar, tropical décor, Felix quickened his strides, like an impatient child concealing their excitement.

When he got there, he noticed a couple trying to corral their children. His mood pleasant, he decided to hold the door open for the family. Unfortunately, their nervous eyes reminded him what to expect, when expressing sincere generosity. The couple deeply bowed, despite their seniority, and hastily scurried through the door. His eagerness extinguished, Felix hardened his heart, protecting himself from any further disappointments. As he entered the establishment, he scanned the space for a familiar face.

Trevor stood up from a near by table. He turned and smiled at Felix. "Hey~ I managed to get us a table. Please come join me." He said to the dark haired brunette with a darker complexion than him in greeting.

He would only sit after the other. He waited as he settled into a sitting position after Felix. He had got them water on request by telling the waitress. He then opened the menu. He scanned it with his eyes. But he was more interested to ask his co-worker a question. "Did our phone call take a odd turn and did it make you flustered hearing me change?" He playfully winked as the last part of the question was hushed.

Trying not to face-palm, Felix walked over to Trevor's table. He was in disbelief. A few people laughed, as though the cheery announcement was for a lost child. Their amusement was dampened, as soon as their eyes fell upon Felix's glare. Threatened into silence, they returned to their previous conversations.

"Thanks for waiting." His disinclined tone overshadowed the gratitude beneath. Taking his seat across from Trevor, he pretend to mull over the menu. Being a regular there, he already knew what he wanted. His mind wandered at the vivid thought of personally searing his own cut of fresh meat.

"Did our phone call take a odd turn and did it make you flustered hearing me change?"

The playfulness in Trevor's tone and wink had him baffled. Trying to remain composed, Felix refused to overreact—as much as he already had. He buried his face in the menu. "N-No! Of course I didn't get flustered. Why would I get flustered over another guy changing? Over the phone no less! It's not like I actually saw you." Felix could feel his ears redden, as he suddenly remembered his stubborn imagination. He shooed the thought away. "A-Anyway, I recommend the galbi here. It's marinated, beef ribs. It's sweet and savory-," Felix tried to suppress his enthusiasm. "I-If you like that kind of stuff."

"Oh, hey you! Back for more?" Felix clicked his tongue, at the familiar voice. His plan to abandon regularity status was failing miserably. "I think you've mistaken me for someone else." The waitress tensed at Felix's stiff bubbliness laced with bitter venom. His eyes said enough. She gave a subtle nod. "Oh, I sincerely apologize, sir. I've mistaken you for someone else. That aside, may I take your order?"

He looks over the menu again to get his bearings on what the Gabi comes with as sides. He decides quickly, but waits for Felix to order.

When it is his turn, he asks for a cola and the Gabi with a order of mushrooms and baby bok choy. He returns the menu to the wall of the table. He notices the other's still slight flushed cheeks. 'Oh my goodness~ He is indeed a adorible man. I am crushing on him badly~' He thinks to himself. "Excuse me. I will be back." He then stands and goes to the bathroom after the water he has drank since being off work.

"Ah, yes. I'll have a water, three orders of galbi and an order of thinly sliced brisket." Grinning, the waitress didn't jot down Felix's order. After a brief, wordless exchange, Felix understood what she was waiting for: the formalities of a new customer. "Please," he muttered, eyes glowering at her. "Very well, sir!" Satisfied and secretly entertained by his predicament, she smiled cheerily and wrote everything down. "I bet this lady is eating this up," Felix thought.

"And for you, sir?" Her professional demeanor returned, while she took Trevor's order. "Very well, sir. I'll place your orders now and return with your drinks shortly." Felix exhaled a sigh of relief, as soon as she left. Now, he had to come up with some excuse or avoid any topics regarding his familiarity with the restaurant. Before he could say anything, Trevor excused himself to the restroom. Felix considered himself lucky.

"Hey, where's your friend?" Though, his luck did seem to run out rather quickly, these days. "F-Friend?" Felix pondered the title. He wondered if he had collected enough experience and passed all the levels regarding friendship. Although organizing his thoughts with common videogame motifs usually helped, today he was getting no where. He decided not to comment on the matter. "He's in the restroom. No funny business, okay? I know I'm a regular here, but you guys are way too lax with service consistency. Just treat me like everyone else, today." "Eh, but I thought we're some of the few people that understand y-," Felix shooed her away, before she could finish her sentimental remark. "Can it, lady. I think he's coming back."

Trevor was coming back from the section before his and Felix, there is a open space for the restaurant so he heard almost the waitresses and Felix's conversation in full once he had opened the door of the restroom. He walks back over to the table he was perviously sitting at and sits back down. He scoots closer to the other, he is with. He smiles as he is reaching for the other's hand. He takes it with his own and holds onto it tightly. He just needed a moment, a connection with the Aries other.

Why did Trevor feel needy at this moment, or how did he know the other was a Aries? Because he had taken a peek at the other's birthday date on his employee sheet back in Jason's office during his interview and first shift. "Ma'am your excused from our table for a while." He said directed at the elder waitress. The Lion of the zodiac felt out of his own element right now.

Just moments before back in the men's restroom, another male had slapped his ass as he was peeing. He wanted to prove he had protection from Felix. Trevor was still a bit disturbed by the experience. This was supposed to be a family restaurant in public no less.

"Felix, I had my bum slapped in the bathroom." He said in a shaken up whisper.

As their waitress awkwardly bowed and left them to tend to other, hungry customers, Felix stared at Trevor, shocked. Never had he imagined an aggressive version of the usual, approachable Trevor he had become acquainted with. Now, Felix entertained the thought of various, alternative Trevors hidden away.

His mind was still reeling, when his coworker held his hand. Felix's usual, embarrassed reaction was delayed. However, his attention became undivided, once Trevor mentioned his restroom encounter. Felix narrowed his glowering eyes, in the direction of the restrooms. Behind his solemn expression, a wild beast seethed with rage. His appetite for one of his favorite foods dissipated.

"Is that bastard still there?" Although his voice was hushed, his bloodlust was undeniable.

¨No, he is not still in the bathroom Felix. I saw him leave here.¨ He sighs. ¨I will be okay.¨ He keeps holding the other's hand and then rests his head on the brunette's shoulder. ¨I would like to believe it was just a single incident.¨ Trevor shrugs a shoulder of his own. ¨Let's just forget about it, because it might be a overexertion.¨ He hums a tune to comfort himself.

"Dammit," Felix muttered under his breath. His eyes remained menacing; His mind fuming. Trevor's steady hand over his clenched fist anchored him, reminding him of the public setting. It took every ounce of his willpower to refrain from chasing after the assaulter.

Somehow, he was managed to quell his burning rage, by reassuring himself that staying by Trevor's side was best. His heated emotions now reduced to a dying smolder, Felix eventually noticed Trevor's humming. Whether it was his soft tone or the gentle melody, his coworker's calming aura enveloped Felix. He closed his eyes, the new atmosphere lightening his mood. His tensed muscles relaxed. He reflected on the turn of events awe: His new acquaintance had riled him up to his boiling point and returned him to a relaxed state. Felix was slightly alarmed, by how easily Trevor swayed him. He wondered if this new vulnerability was better than his usual hardness.

"Thanks for waiting patiently. Here are the selected meats and dishes you ordered." The familiar waitress interrupted Felix's thoughts with the temptation of food. "Thanks," Felix replied, already placing thin strips of raw meat onto the heated grill. She smiled: A calm Felix was a rare sight. Promptly leaving the two to themselves, she silently wished for his well-deserved happiness.

Felix's mouth drooled, as the aroma of sizzling meat swirled around them. He turned to Trevor, distracted from the incident with food. "This place has the best cuts of meat around! It's all sourced from an organic, free-range farm in the neighboring town. I hope you it pleases your tastes."

Trevor moved his head from the other's shoulder as he felt the other begin to cook his meal. He also scooted closer away, just a little bit of distance to begin cooking his own beef short ribs on a opposite grill, as well as his veggies. "How long does it usually take for something like this to cook on both sides?" He asked of Felix with a smile. "Organic and free-ranged livestock?" He looks down at his wallet, feeling it already burning a hole into his check book. "You have great tastes. But you know, I only started working today at the cafe?"

He slightly pouts, wondering if Felix would pay for their meal. Since he picked the restaurant and maybe hoped for more outings together. The thought it's self on spending more time with Felix, made his heart flutter to a quick pace. Soon that showed up on his cheeks, in a pink almost light red hue. "I'm sure this meal with satisfy us both." He said with a playful wink towards the other, his cheeks still showing color all the while.

Felix became flustered, with the wink casually sent his way. Did his heart just skip a beat? These new emotions were confusing him, but he deemed it dangerous to start pondering such things in Trevor's presence. He focused intensely on the food. "It doesn't take that long. They'll be ready in a couple more minutes, since they're so thin," he replied.

He stole a peek at Trevor. What he saw didn't help his embarrassment. "Why is he blushing? What did I do? Is it the heat of the grill? Is he embarrassment from the incident?" Felix's sneakiness also baffled him. Things were moving at an unusual pace, and he was being swept up in it all. Perhaps, his hunger was affecting his mind. He flipped his rows of meat once more, before transferring them onto his plate.

The savory beef melted in his mouth. A blissful aura radiated around him. Whatever he was fretting over prior was now subdued. "Hey, Trevor." His fervor to share such unrivaled flavors deluged his unapproachable character. "You've got to try this! It's so good!" He held a piece of meat in his chopsticks up to Trevor's mouth. It was too late to retract his gesture, once he realized what he had done.
