Finally made it to Camelot A young male thought to himself. He had a smile strapped across his face before quickly remembering that he was suppose to go meet up with his uncle. The boy rushed forwards and hurried to the court-quarters where he slipped in the door. The male glanced around and noticed an old man on the upper floor sifting through some books and parchments. The young man rocked on his feet for a moment before lifting a hand to his mouth and making a coughing sound. The man above whipped around so quickly that he slipped and actually fell through the railing. Without a moment's hesitation, the younger male's eyes turned bright gold and the bed moved to be just below the falling male. His movements had been so quick it was as if the male saw what was happening all in slow motion.

The teen's eyes widened a bit almost regretting what he had just done. The old man got up, saved by the bed, and quickly turned to stare at the other. "That was magic," the old man said in shock.

"What, no it wasn't," the other replied instantly. On his way to this small home, he had witnessed a man get his head cut off for having practiced magic. He knew that magic was illegal here and feared the same fate as the man before.

"Yes, it was, but, what I want to know is how you did it. I heard no incantation and magic is a difficult thing to learn."

After a small explanation and the promise to keep it all a secret, the teen introduced himself as "Merlin" and that he was here to stay. He'd given a not to the old man who was known as Gaius and when all the formality stuff was out of the way, he went out.

Merlin began to just walk about the town when he saw a bit of a commotion and began to head over to see what was happening. Some pretty-boy was flaunting about all high and mighty. He didn't know the man but Merlin knew already how much he disliked this man.

"You can't keep pushing away every person I send to you Arthur" replied Uther as he paced back and forth a bit agitated towards his son's attitude.

"you will rule these people, you can't have them hating you" continued the man.

All throughout Arhtur's head and imagination being somewhere else far away, he found the whole situation a bit...ironic. His father, the king of Camelot, detested magic for whatever reason who yet remained a secret, at least to himself. And for the man to say that Arthur had to be king was a complete irony.

Refraining from answering back he gave a nod before being dismissed.

"Next time try to pay attention" chuckled Morgana as the doors of the throne room closed. Giving her a last look Arthur headed out.

"Alright boys!" shouts Arthur to his surrounding fellows "lets have some moving target practice"

  • 2 weeks later...

Merlin watched the blond, hurl knives at the servant who ran around with a shield. Each knife made contact, scaring the servant more and more with eat hit. Merlin approached as the servant tripped and fell to the ground with the shield rolling a little before it fell flat at the sorcerer's feet. He placed one foot on it and turned to the blonde. "Come on, that's enough," the male said.

"Heh are you talking to me?"

"You are the only prat I see here."

"Ah aren't you lovely, would you like to walk on your knees boy?"

"What, you think you can make me?"

"I can do more than think of that"

Merlin laughed a little before saying to the blonde again, "Oh, really?"

"Really" the other smiles back wickedly

The sorcerer shifted back and forth slowly on his feet for just a minute before he swung his right hand out to try and catch the side of the "prat's" face with a right hook punch.

For Arthur fighting was not a difficulty if anything he embraced the action, whether it was combat or foolish crap like this. Watching closely he calculates the movements as the other boy launched forward fist in hand.

'Fool' he told himself before reached for the boy's wrist and twisting it behind his back in a swift motion. Each movement performed by the other was slow and clumsy, but maybe that was how he saw them.

"You got some guts raising your hand against me" he states against the boy's ear, his own chest pressing against his back. The boy's scent his Arthur's nose slightly starling him.

'sweet?' he asked himself liking the flower like scent.

"What are you, the king?" Merlin half chuckled but could only do so much because of the pain of having his arm cranked behind his back. When arthur clarified who he was, all the male could think was 'fuck'. Merlin knew this wasn't going to end well. Of course he was right, the male was finding himself in the cells not long after. Now stuck, Merlin sat down and half tried to get comfortable for now.

Some time later, he was being released to Gaius who warned him to keep his head down and avoid Arthur. "Thanks for getting me out of there."

"Well there is one condition..." Merlin couldn't even question what that meant before he was in the stocks being pelted by rotten fruit.

He had to admit the foolish child had lightened his mood more than expected. Almost forgetting the whole deal with his father and the servants.

Once Arthur stepped into his room though, the memories ran back. The place was flipped inside out due to the lack of cleaning and care, although there wasn't much he could do.

"Terrible" he murmured before laying in his bed.

His eyes drifted every so often and soon he was asleep. But this didn't last long until maids came into the room asking for a meeting with his father to greet a guest. Not that he neglected his royal duties, but at times he wished not everything was set and planned for him.

"I have to attend what now?" Merlin questioned as he followed Gaius around the room. "The feast, tonight. Uther is having very special guests tonight and I have to attend. You are only coming so I can be sure you keep out of trouble." Gaius looked back at the last sentence as if to prove it to Merlin. The teen huffed and walked off to finish washing off the rotten fruit and change his shirt so he wouldn't be completely gross.

As the day passed on more, Merlin went down to the market to get some things for the court physician before the night came. The male attempted to keep his head down for now as he moved about just to get what he needed. The only distraction was a pretty girl who was the daughter of a blacksmith. The two talked for quite a while before Merlin realized he had to hurry before the night came.

The red silky cloth of Aurthus cape feel in drapes behind his back. The heavy thing was more for show tha anything but it was not as uncomfortable as the harsh piece of gold metal over his bright golden locks of hair. The dark clothing underneath the cape allowed for every decoration to stand out. Yet again as royalty he had to be superior, or so he'd been told.

Now he sat in the chair next to his father watch people talk, and enjoy. Morgana on the other side of his father had a similar face to his. Arthur's blue eyes drifted back to the people finding a form of entertainment until they landed on him.

'yhe not!' He told himself remembering their previous encounter. A rush ran through his body as he saw the teen and suddenly stood up in his chair appearing as to what he referred more powerful, or demanding.

Realizing what he was doing made Arthur slightly question his actions as to why he wanted to appear this way.

Merlin had been kind of floating around the room off to the side. He wasn't allowed to sit at the table but it didn't matter much since he was only there because Gaius needed him to be. For a while, Merlin just looked about him until he noticed the prince stand up. The two locked their stares for a while before a strange movement just beyond the blonde caught the teen's attention. He leaned to the side a bit and looked at Gaius who was motioning for the male. Merlin took one last glance at Arthur before hurrying around behind the three royalties and over to the physician.

Moment's later, Merlin was hurrying off and out of the room with something in his hand. He slipped out a side door to go and fetch something. 'What is going on with that guy… I get that he's the prince but doing something like that only makes him look like an ass.' The teen thought as he hurried off.

Just after Merlin had left, the guest, a singer and personal friend to Uther, had come into the room smiling. She was preparing to sing as the teen was trying to get something to the lady's room. He looked around the room, however, she was nowhere to be seen. Shrugging, the teen placed the tiny bottle on the desk where he found it strange that the mirror had a dark sheet over it. Curious, he looked all over the desk before finding a book on sorcery. 'Uh oh.' Merlin began sprinting back as the singing was already in full swing, singing that was in fact a spell.

Arthur had to admit the woman his father had invited was lovely and refines. As for the rumors about he singing, they fit her perfectly. It was said her voice was angelic and almost desirable, but personalty Arthur wasn't all too interested. It wasn't until she took her place next to a large harp that his attention was caught.

The candle light of the room illuminated her face nicely and the second her first notes were hit every muscle in Arthur's body relaxed.

His head fell back to the chair as a way to hold it up.

'Wow I'm sleepy' he confirms with himself but tries to stay up, knowing a scowling would come if he just feel asleep.

It wasn't until Arthur's gaze turned to the left that he realized it, Morgana and his father were fast asleep and soon every guest followed.

Alarmed Arthur stood up watching the woman who continued to sing, his vision became blurry by the second and balance was hard to achieve.

"W-what the h-..." stumbling back Arthur hit the chair, his eye lids closing.

Merlin managed to come skidding into the room as the witch began walking towards the Pendragons. He saw everyone asleep and the whole place seemed to age. It was dark and everything and everyone became covered in spider and cob webs. Panicked, Merlin looked up and stared hard at the chain at the top of the chandler. His eyes burned like fires, turning a deep golden color just before the chain he stared at, broke, and the whole thing came crashing down on top of the witch. Her spell wore off so she looked like an old woman again and everyone began waking up.

Merlin watched as Arthur and his father stood up in disbelief. Slowly everyone was just sitting up or starting to get to their feet. The woman groaned and crawled about the ground for a moment before a silver dagger came shooting across the room. As if in slow motion, Merlin saw the dagger and dashed forward where he grabbed onto Arthur and yanked him down to the ground. The prince fell, basically, on the sorcerer and his eyes stayed fixed on the woman as the dagger stuck right into the seat where Arthur's head just was. It took a minute but the two got to their feet.

His eyes fell in disbelief to the young dark headed boy, and then back at the dagger. Cold sweat ran through Arthur' back as he pictures himself in the chair...dead.

'M-magic' he tells himself in an attempt to also calm down.

Soon enough senses returned to Arthur as he heard his father speak to the boy

"You shall become the prince's man servant"

And before it was registered Uther had left.

Now a wave of discontent and surprise ran through Arthur as he looked back at the other a million words stuck at the tip of tongue ready to go against the boy's new position and then it hit him. That perhaps this could be fun.

Merlin stared back at the king and attempted to deny but the stubborn leader just brushed him off. The teen was left there, mouth moving slightly as if still trying to deny it but there was no sound coming out. He was paying no attention to the princes as he groaned a little and walked over to Gaius who congratulated him. "Seriously," he whispered. "I save his son's life and get turned into a servant?"

"Be thankful, there are plenty who would love that position."

"Really? Well then give it to them! I don't want to be the servant of a cabbage-head." He got a quick thump in the arm before Merlin was off following after the prince. At least he gained some interesting knowledge this day and planned to go meet the dragon tonight. For now, he needed to attend his new "servant duties".

"T-this is my room" said Arthur in an attempt to clear his throat and speak at the same time. The room, at the very least, looked like a hurricane had passed by the most decent thing there was the eating table.

Walking in he removed his shoes and jumped in the bed.

"I'm sure you're familiar with who I am. Merlin" the name rolling off as if he was tasting ever last consonant in it "but it does not matter"

Moving slightly he reached for the ends of his shirt and removed it, revealing a broad chest with stone hard abs "report here tomorrow, you are to wake me up to breakfast which you will get from the kitchen, and then...I'll have work for you"

His hands reached for the pants and began to unbuckle the rest of them.

Merlin took one look at the room and knew he had a lot of work to do. 'Why me...' he thought as he listened to Arthur explain the schedule. It seemed like the room was going to have to be cleaned tomorrow… The male looked over at the prince as he removed his shirt feeling slightly uncomfortable for some strange reason. Shrugging it off, Merlin hurried out of the room while Arthur was getting ready for bed.

Before returning to Gaius, the teen took a stroll around the castle so he could memorize the area. He had to find the kitchen since that was the list of what he had to do first thing in the morning. This was turning into more and more of a chore then Merlin had anticipated. Finally he returned and went to his room. Gaius had given Merlin a spell book and he went to read through it. When everyone was asleep, he went to see this dragon.

Some time later, now in a worse mood, Merlin returned to his room and went to bed. He had to be woken by Gaius before he rushed out of the room and got Arthur's breakfast from the kitchen. He ran up, placed the food down on the one clean part of the room, and drew back the blinds. "Time to wake up!!" he announced loudly.

A soft gleam of light entered the room softly caressing the golden locks from the prince. His entire body was covered by the blankets of soft wool and his back was towards the mattress. It wasn't until someone screamed him awake that his eyes lazily opened to find a dark headed boy.

"What for?" he asks showing his displeasure of mornings very much.

Sightly he rolls to the other side, getting a clear view of Merlin and his small figure. It was surprisingly thin but not like it concerned him. As with the same motion he rolled back into his pillow.

"Unbelievable…" At first, Merlin had zero idea on how to deal with this. He moved around the room and picked up all of the clothes before he walked back over to the table, flicked his wrists, then began banging on the table like crazy. He figured the suddenness of the banging and the loudness, would make the Prince jump out of bed. He could possibly grab his sword so Merlin made sure to stay close to the door and have the laundry basket ready.

As soon as Arthur was on his feet, Merlin grabbed the basket off the ground and ran out of the room like it was on fire. He didn't even bother returning since Arthur needed to eat anyway. The male just started to wash the clothes and when he was done, he returned to put everything away and go await his new orders.

"Oh My GOD MERLIN!!!" screamed Arthur at the sudden annoying banging from the boy. But before anything could be thrown he was gone.

After the sudden display there was no possible way of his sleep returning and he left the warm blankets.

Taking an apple with him was all Arthur need until lunch. And soon enough he was training with the boy's. Although his morning had not been pleasant his mood was actually fresh until called in by his father .

Merlin managed to catch up to Arthur in the training session and followed him even when he was called by his father. Arthur was told of the tournament and warned again of magic before sent off and told how he must win the tournament and stay as reigning champion. 'No pressure though,' Merlin thought to himself, he couldn't help but smile since his own destiny hadn't yet sunk in. The smile wouldn't last long.

About an hour later, Merlin was in a large amount of armor and stuck to stand before Arthur with nothing but a shield. "Are you serious about this? Wouldn't fighting one of you knights be a better practice for you?" Thwack!!!! After several more hits, Merlin fell backwards. He managed to last much longer then the other servants who would have passed out after the first hit.

"Come on Merlin!" screamed Arthur at the smaller boy who gave after some time. Giving him a face he walked over and watching him.

'Completely pathetic' he though watching Merlin go covered in the grass of the floor.

Tapping the wooden shield "get up" he asks noticing the redness in the boy's ears. It was hot for a competition day, he had to admit, and at some point he kind of pitied the boy.

"get up Merlin" thing time Arthur says this a bit less forceful

He groaned and panted as he forced himself up. Merlin grabbed the helmet and placed it on his head before turning back for another beating. Some time later, the teen found himself given several more chores. He had to start by mucking out the horses, and then, Merlin went to his room to polish Arthur's armor, sharpen his sword, and work on his shield. For this he just laid on the bed and began reading his spell book while he used his magic to do all three tasks at once.

Gaius walked in and everything that had been floating to complete the tasks fell to the ground. "Were you using magic, again?!" Gaius shouted. Merlin simply shook his head. "Then what is all of this?!"

"Nothing," he replied quickly. When Gaius left, Merlin fell back and sighed. Eventually he got up and and carried everything back to Arthur's room to help him get ready for everyone who was to soon arrive for the competition.

"Dress me" he tells the other. In his tone one could possibly hear how impressed Arthur was at the metal. it was shinny, polished almost as if brand new. His vision dragged to Merlin's face and then right back to the armor. But the small enchantment was soon broken as the poor soul tried dressing Arthur.

"Let me ask you something, do you have the slightest idea how this works?" a bit irritated than before and far more unimpressed than usual. It appeared to him that if he ever lost the competition it would be because of Merlin and his incapability.

If it was another person Arthur would have snapper and immediately dismissed the servant, now he wasn't quite sure why he hesitated with Merlin.

"Learn" he hissed before walking to the other side of the room were the window stood, a few of the competitors could be seen outside, soon they too would be out there.

Merlin fumbled around and really wasn't sure what he was doing. He knew where each piece went but dressing Arthur was a lot harder then it seemed. Merlin put him together but forgot his sword. When he was asked if he knew what he was doing, he kind of shrugged a little and thought to himself, 'Not really'. Arthur grabbed up his own sword as if threatening to run Merlin through. The only reason he didn't was probably because there was still some effect of the polish job he did on the armor.

The servant was demanded to learn and he planned to. He walked over to the blonde and looked over his shoulder out the window. Merlin watched as the other competitors gathered and entered themselves into the tournament. He had to get out of the way as Arthur headed out himself being introduced as the reigning champion. Merlin followed him out and stood beside Gaius near the entrance of the arena.

His back soon grew sweaty and uncomfortable. His grip tightened around his sword handle but nevertheless he kept his head up

'I'll before showing my nervousness' he tells himself as the armor metals hit each other and came to a sudden stop at the middle of the arena.

As usual it was fully packet. It seemed that other than magic, the city of Camelot enjoyed watching knights knock each other out. Slightly he waved and bowed in front of the king.

Usually he ignored the speech but this time his head snapped right to where his father was.

"A dinner from lady Morgana" Arthur watched in terror at the news, worried and simply displeased.

The girl was like a sister, and annoying but never would Arthur hand her over to these ruthless men. Slightly his brow twitched at his discomfort

"Guess you have to win now" he murmurs under his breath.
