Years had passed slowly. The same things occurred every day. The same humans stopped by to pray and offer their blessing in return for protection. Aito no Inukami, the God that presided over that certain temple, was extremely bored with this lifestyle. After debate with himself, Aito decided to travel among the humans.

His temple was out in the countryside, so he had a whiles to go to get the nearest town. As he road past the small farmhouses, he noted how humans lived and behaved. From what he could remember, humans almost always farmed. So had they not developed much over those hundreds of years?

But Aito was soon proved wrong when he got to the nearest city. He didn't even know the name of it, but with the tall buildings and loud sounds, the dog God was awed. This was nothing like he had ever experienced.

Another boring day, spent listening to the same lectures. Kaede sat besides the window, daydreaming. HE was getting restless sitting here.

"Akiyama, Kaede! Pay attention!"

Giving a sigh, he looked at his teacher. The bored, irritated expression never leaving his features. His teacher continued with his lecture for the remainder of the class.

The final bell rang, with another sigh, he packed his bag. Walking slowly towards his show locker. His so-called friends waiting for him.

"Let's go. I'm tired of being in this hellhole." He murmured to his friends as he slipped on his shoes.

They walked towards a fast food restaurant. Laughing as they playfully pushed one another. He seeked their friendship as a means to add excitement into his dull life, now...they were a hindrance.

Aito watched as foreign objects raced past him. Humans looked at him in awe. What was so odd about him? Did he stick out?

"Hey, you," someone said from beside him.

Aito jumped in shock. Standing beside Aito was a human woman.

"You lost or something?" she asked, eyeing his bag.

The dog God looked at her and quickly shook his head. The woman giggled and stood up.

"You'd better play it safe then, kid," she said before leaving.

Humans are a little scary, Aito thought to himself. He walked along the hot pavement, barefoot, until he got to a large park. He sat near the playground where children were playing. As humans passed, they looked at him like he was nuts. As Aito watched the humans, he started to get drowsy. Sooner or later, he dozed off on a park bench.

They sat down with their trays of food.

"Heard that she's pretty easy."

"Yeah. Heard the same thing."

"Wouldn't mind getting with her. She's pretty cute."

Kaede would zone in and out of their constant gossiping of girls, games and general idiocy.

He sipped his soda, watching people pass by. They had gotten kicked out of the fast food joint for loitering and causing a ruckus. They made their way to the park. As they walked by, Kaede noticed a man sleeping on a bench. He was instantly enchanted by him. He was different from anyone else. He turned to his friends.

"Looks like we found our new victim."

Aito fell asleep for a while. To him, the human world was just an endless possibility of experiences and happenings. Anything could happen, as long as Aito could relieve his impending boredom. After what seemed like half an hour or so, he woke up from his sleep.

As much as he disliked sleeping in public, he didn't mind it then. He just felt so exhausted. Aito sat up to see that he was making a spectacle. Many humans passed by. Some ignored his idiosyncrasies and some stared at the bizarre white haired, shoeless, traditional kimono wearing man.

He sat up and put his feet back on the pavement, watching the humans as they passed. I'm bored again… Aito thought to himself. He looked around the park once more to only see a group of humans staring at him, a look of interest, and maybe mischief, on their faces. And why are these humans staring?

His eyes. His eyes were enchanting. HE felt his heart beat wildly against his chest. Giving a smirk, he walked over to the strange, white haired man.

"Hey. You aren't from around here, are you?"

Taking a seat besides the kimono clad man, he wrapped his arm around him.

"I could show you a good time, if you'd like. I know this place pretty well."

His friends snickered. They knew of his tendency to seduce their victim, before either blackmailing them or leading them on as he picked their pockets.

Feeling an arm go around his shoulder, Aito stared in curiosity. When the human offered a "good time" and to show Aito around, the god gave a small smile to show his appreciation.

"That sounds great," he responded. "I just got here, so I appreciate your kindness."

Out of all things, Aito knew nothing about the greed of humans. He was naive in this sense. And because he was unknowing and naive, he didn't understand the intentions of the human and his friends.

Kaede gave a smug grin. "Great! Now...let me show you a good time."

He took the man's hand, leading him away from his group of friends. Turning around only to make sure they weren't follow, before returning his attention to the white haired man. Leading him to an empty part of the park.

"So tell me, where are you from?"

He slid his hands into the man's kimono, feeling around.

Aito was led away from the group of humans by one in particular. This human was increasing the god's curiosity. Where all humans weird like this?

When the human asked him where he was from Aito opened his mouth to answer, but he was soon surprised by the hand that touched his skin, he froze. He looked at the human. What was this?

"What are you doing?" Aito asked, his entire body going stiff.

He wasn't used to this… having others touch him.

Kaede glanced at him. The smug smile never wavering.

"Oh, nothing. Just curious of the feel of your kimono. It's very soft."

He said. His voice a bit raspy as he slipped his hands out.

"So you were telling me where you were from. I'm very curious."

He continued on his search for a purse. Feeling here and there, making it appear like he was just gracing his body every now and then.

Aito watched the human in curiosity, wondering ow his kimono could be so soft t the point that one would constantly touch it. He wasn't sure exactly what was going on, but he just went along with then human.

"Where I'm from? Oh, well I come from a temple in the countryside…"

Was he allowed to reveal the fact that he was a god to humans? It wouldn't hurt to tell them, right? But he never had told a human who he actually was from the beginning, so he decided to leave it at that.

"And who are you?" Aito asked, backing away a little.

Kaede feigned interest. "You don't say? Very interesting."

He couldn't appear to find a single pouch or purse. He was getting annoyed. His friends will be coming soon to see if he had acquired anything from this idiot.

"Well...My name is Akiyama, Kaede. I've lived here my whole life and I'm a high school student. What's your name?"

He smirked, giving up on his search. He found this man a ton more fun than his so-called friends. This man was so naive and gullible.

Aito repeated the human's name and slightly nodded. When his name was asked, Aito thought for a second. Should he tell his whole name? Or should he just flatly ignore the human? But ignoring him would be totally wrong. So what should be done? Aito looked at the human named Kaede and said, "My name is Aito no Inukami. I am a dog god."

After saying that, he wondered if he should have just kept things simple, instead of telling the whole truth?

Kaede gave him a quizzical look. One brow arched. "A dog god?"

Placing his hands on his hips, he shifted his stance.

"Why do I find it hard to believe?"

He snickered, bending forward, hiding his face with his bangs. Clutching his stomach as his snickering turned to a loud laugh. This man truly was an entertaining individual! He calmed down and looked at him. Mirth apparent in his eyes.

"Thanks, I needed that. Your a pretty fun guy. Wouldn't mind hanging around you."

Aito blinked at Kaede in complete and utter confusion. What was this? Had he actually acquired a human friend? He watched as Kaede began laughing. Was his response that ridiculous? Then humans must have forgotten their faith in Aito. That kind of depressed the dog God. But his depression was quickly washed away by the human's laughter and high spirits.

"You don't believe me, huh?" Aito asked, his eyes filled with a deep curiosity. "Well I didn't quite expect you to believe me… but you're welcone, I guess."

Kaede shook his head. "Can't say I do. I mean, it's hard to believe something you can't see, but whatever. If you believe you're a dog god; who am I to stop you?"

He walked to the other side of Aito. Grabbing his arm and wrapping his arms around it.

"Kya~ Mind taking me on a date Aito-kun?" He said, making his voice high-pitched as he giggled, annoyingly.

Looking for any reaction. This being brought him great pleasure to see his reactions. It was like he lived under a rock for years.

Hearing Kaede's high pitched voice, Aito looked at the human in shock. And when Kaede clung to Aito, the God dog jumped in surprise. A date? What was a date again? A date… a date… Aito thought back to his shrine. During New Years, human females and males came together, holding hands and all lovey-dovey… on something they called dates. Date? Wait, Kaede wanted to go on one of those?

"A d-date?! I… I d-don't… a d-date?! W-w-why?"

As embarrassing as this was, Aito couldn't help it. He just didn't understand Kaede or his reasonings. Where all humans like this?

Kaede grinned, mischievously. So cute. His reactions were too adorable. Giving a nod, he let go of Aito, getting a hold of his hand instead.

"Well...it'll be fun! You paying for my meals. Taking me to an arcade where you'll win me a prize. Then we'll go on a walk and kiss as the sun sets."

In the distance he heard laughing. He sighed.

"Fuck."

He watched his friends come up to them. He smirked at his friends, hiding his distaste.

"What you guys want?"

Confusion and shock still buzzed around in Aito's mind. As little as he knew about the human world, dates were things that coupke's went on. He knew that by observing humans. So why was Kaede doing this? He wasn't serious, right? And when Kaede brought up paying… wait, Aito had no money! And kissing? They couldn't just…!

"Wha…? I can't pa-" But he was soon cut off once he heard Kaede curse.

Aito looked to see the human friends of Kaede's… Even though Kaede sounded a little… annoyed? by them, he soon wiped it away when he talked to them.

Aito found this human, Kaede, very interesting.

Kaede let go of Aito's hand. Turning his attention to his friends.

"Hey. You get money already?"

Kaede sighed, rolling his eyes. He was in no mood to associate himself with these boys.

"No. Get lost. I'm gonna hang out with him instead. You guys bore me with your childish games."

The shock on their faces turned to one of anger.

"What you say, fag?! Yeah, like we don't know what you do with these losers. You suck 'em off!"

Kaede said nothing. Letting their words roll off. He didn't care what they thought of him and if they believed him to be a prostitute.

Aito watched the interaction between Kaede and his friends. Well… they didn't seem much of Kaede's friends, especially when they starting accusing him of something that he had no clue as to what the meaning was. Kaede seemed to take the accusations and yelling occurred. He even just rolled his eyes and basically ignored them.

"Leave…" Aito's voice first came out quiet, so quiet that only probably Kaede, who was beside him, could hear.

He looked at Kaede and then at the other humans.

"Leave Kaede alone," he said, his voice holding more volume than before. "If you have nothing but cruel words to say, then leave."

Aito usually didn't raise his voice like that, nor did he usually speak up with such a menacing growl. At that moment, he seemed like a totally different person. But he couldn't just sit by and watch as these people hurled verbal attacks at Kaede. And Aito knew that it was beat to stay out of human affairs… but Kaede was the first human that he seemed to have befriended.

Kaede looked at Aito, surprised by his words. No one had ever stand up for him. He just took things and ignored them. Why waste your time on the ramblings of a butt hurt individual. His so called friends looked at Aito and began to laugh.

"I'm so scared! Whatcha gonna do? Hit us with your sleeves?"

They laughed at the stupid joke. Waiting for the white haired man to just walk away, so they could beat the crap out of Kaede for his over inflated ego.

Kaede felt a slight warmth at being defended. He was beginning to enjoy the company of Aito.

Aito sighed in frustration. Was this how humans really were? And what about Kaede? Was he cruel like them? He couldn't have been, right? It scared him to think of that possibility. He looked at Kaede, unsure of what to do next. Should they just leave? That was best, to avoid conflict.

"Shall we go?" Aito asked, lowering his voice so that it was barely a whisper.

Kaede shook his head, moving in front of Aito. "Not yet."

He turned and looked at him with a smirk, before turning his attention to the boys in front of him.

"I should apologize, but I'm not gonna be your pickpocket anymore. I've had my fun and you all bore me. So, bye."

One of them grit his teeth, throwing a punch at Kaede, making his head snap to the side. Kaede moved his head to look at the boys. Wiping the blood from his mouth, before he threw a punch of his own. Causing a snow ball of sorts as they ganged up on him and began throwing punches and kicks his way.

Irritation found its way onto Aito's face. Even though he knew and understood that patience was virtue, he was getting increasingly annoyed with the violence in front of him. As he watched, a little surprised, he wondered what he should have done? Should he just leave the human's be in the middle of their scuffle? But that wasn't tight… even if he was a god. Then should he intervene? If he got into the fight, then he might have ended up hurting someone… Forget that. As he watched on, he knew that this wasn't fair. That group of friends all against Kaede. It just wasn't fair. In anger and frustration, Aito revealed his true form, the ancient script flowing onto his skin like an elaborate glowing tattoo.

"Leave him alone!" Aito commanded, his eyes glowing. He wouldn't hesitate to hurt a human if needed be… not anymore, anyways.
