The boys stopped, mid-fight and turned to where the commanding voice came from. They all began to laugh at the sight of Aito. All except Kaede. He stared wide-eyed and shocked. His shock turning to a smirk. He spit out some blood that had collected in his mouth from the broken lip.

"I guess you weren't lying. I'll have to apologize to you sometime."

He landed another punch on the so-called leader of the group, before getting out of the way. Taking a hold of Aito's hand and began to run. Pulling Aito along the way.

Even though Aito had not meant to release his true form… but none of what he had witnessed was fair. After all, watching humans beat on only one… that was sick. Aito halted Kaede after they had run for quite some time.

"That wasn't right…" he said. "Do most humans act that way?"

If they did, then what in the world had the gods done wrong?

Kaede bent forward, breathing heavily from the run. After his breathing settled, he spat out some blood.

"Eh, not really. Humans aren't all bad. I just hung out with a group that was too stupid to understand what a fair fight was. But it's meh. I joined them to use them for my own amusement, so I got what was coming to me."

He let out a breathy chuckle.

"So I realized you weren't lying. I should probably apologize for not believing you and making fun of you for that."

Sitting down on the ground, he patted the spot besides him.

"Sit. And tell me more about yourself. What made you come here, anyway?"

Aito watched in horror as the human spat out blood. "A-are you okay?!"

When the human chuckled and moved around as if he were perfectly fine, Aito calmed down a little and sat beside Kaede.

"You don't have to apologize… but they're horrible humans. I hope they get what they deserve. …but I'm here to see how the humans have advanced… I guess that's something I could tell you. But that would be a lie. In truth, I was bored with my life as a God of a temple, so I decided to leave. What about you?"

Kaede waved his hand. "Eh, forget about it. If I don't care, you shouldn't either. It's life, y'know?"

He leaned back a bit, Smirking playfully.

"It looks like we're on the same boat. You got bored with your life and so did I. That's why I hung out with them."

Turning his attention to the afternoon sunset.

"Hey...so what are you going to do now that you're out of your temple?"

"I am unsure…" Aito replied, awkwardly watching the other. "I'm just not going to go back until I'm ready to go back. I know it's selfish…"

The sunset caught his attention and he closed his mouth. It was mesmerizing… Aito was happy that he had left his temple. If he hadn't, beautiful sunsets like these were completely unattainable to him.

Kaede shrugged. "Hey, man. It's your life. Do whatever. I bet it gets boring being cooped up in your temple. Listening to people asking for shit like happiness and stuff. You need to get out sometimes or else you'll go crazy! So don't apologize."

Here looked over at Aito, a grin playing on his lips.

"Hey. I bet you need a place to stay until you get back to your temple...wanna stay at my place?"

"Yes," Aito agreed, fixing his kimono. "It gets super boring. I just cannot… its too much for even me."

When Kaede offered to let him stay at his place, Aito quickly shook his head.

"I can't just impose on you, Kaede-kun! I'm sorry, but I cannot go to your house! I'm a stranger… and how would your parents feel or react if you just brought a random stranger home?"

Kaede laughed, brushing his hair back. "It's cool, man. My parents are rarely home, with work and stuff. And besides, I could use the company. You could cook for me as a thank you for my hospitality."

Smirking, he stood up. Stretching, he held out his hand for Aito.

"Wanna get fingering to eat? I think I got enough for two people."

"Thank you," the dog god said, going into a low bow in front of Kaede. "I am in your debt, so don't hesitate to ask me for favors, okay?"

When Kaede stood up and extended his arm to him, Aito thought that this human may not be bad to get to know. He might help him understand humans more, as well. Aito gave a timid nod and took the other's hand, wondering if this was the right choice or not. Well, there wasn't any room for thought.

"What shall we eat?" he asked, mustering a smile.

Letting out a laugh, he shook his head. "Oh, trust me...I won't hesitate when I need to ask you for a favor. So don't worry about it."

He tightened his grip on Aito's hand.

"I'm in the mood for ramen. What do you want?"

Looking at the darkened sky, he let out a sigh of contentment. "It's nice just walking with someone as you hold hands with them. Kind of romantic."

So don't worry about it? Was Kaede that much of a dependable human? That was good… Aito was relieved that he was befriending such a good human. Perhaps he hadn't done anything wrong when choosing to stand up for this human. That was good.

When asked about ramen, Aito blinked in confusion. "Ramen? What is ramen? Is it good?"

And then when the other mentioned it being romantic, Aito looked at his hand. Romantic? Like how those humans "dated"? Like that? The utter confusion was apparent on his face.

Looking at Aito from the corner of his eyes, Kaede held back a laugh with a snort. This 'man', if you could call him that, was too much fun. Truly, someone you could tease and never be tired of.

"Ramen...it's pretty good. I personally like sushi a lot more, but I don't have enough for that. That's more of a luxury."

Rounding a corner, he saw the familiar sign that let one know that ramen was sold in that particular building.

"Oh! We're here."

Leading the way towards the curtained establishment.
