Revised! Taisho Romance+ Supernatural +Mystery

 

 

Greetings everyone, welcome to this Group RP idea thread. This is a revision of one of my previous group RP, which sadly ended prematurely when one of the players was no longer able to play. The original recruitment thread and the rp are here:

But I felt passionate about the story and wanted to continue it in some way. So I decided to do a revised version, well, more like a continuation of it. That being said you don't have to be one of the old players to join, since the last story line was abandoned, this story would continue from the worst case scenario ending. Basically everyone died in the "Shadow of Yoshiwara" story line and YOU the new players shall clean up their mess. And because the last story line didn't go particularly far so most information remained as mysteries fresh waiting to be discovered! Before we get into the details just to reiterate some of the basic rules:

 

• 1.Don't disappear without a warning. If you have to leave for extensive time try to say so beforehand and we can wait a bit longer. If you're absent for more than a week we'll skip your turn. If you do that multiple times.... you're out.
   
  
• 2.No one liners and Try to be as creative and productive as possible.
   
  
• 3.Good grammar is preferred but I'm not a grammar Nazi. I mean mine isn't exactly good anyways. That being said I NEED to be able to understand what you're saying. If not....Things would get messy....
   
  
• 4.Don't expect me to be online all the time and reply several times a day. We all have lives to deal with.
  

 

 

Now let's get to the background information:

 

 

The RP will be set in the fictional Taisei (大正) era of Japanese history, which is based on the actual Taisho (大正) era (1912–1926). Japan was a rising power going through rapid modernization and westernization, Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples stood a few miles away from western churches. A few blocks from old traditional neighborhoods you could find modernized streets with western style buildings, department stores, street cars carrying people around. People listened to radios, went to see baseball games and movies. There were conflicts between new and old, tradition and modernization, but all seemed to be covered up by the glaring light of development, and the most glaring example of all these was the capital city Tokyo.

 

Or at least, it was supposed to be.

 

An earthquake shattered much of eastern Japan, and Tokyo was hit particularly hard. Half of Tokyo crumbled, while the other half were engulfed in the fire that followed. When the fire finally seized all the infrastructure were destroyed, leaving the once glittering city in darkness. Situation worsened since traffic was blocked the medical supply as well as food couldn't' be transported around, causing famine and death, and the pile of corpses attracted vermin and insects, spreading diseases far and wide.

 

In the middle of the chaos, with most of the government officials and the senators died in the earthquake, the army moved in and took control, establishing a emergency military government and began the reconstruction. They prioritized their efforts on restoring traffic and communication, as well as essential government functions. Then they moved to the restoration of important industries such as exports and weapons. All the while most of the capital city laid in ruins. Feeling neglected there were wide spread dissatisfaction with the military government, and many felt the military would simply keep power to themselves forever, leading to wide protests. The military government responded by dismissing these protests as works of "foreign agitators", "communists", and "anarchists", and suppressed them with brute force.

 

But there were more problems hidden in the shadows. The earthquake shattered all the spiritual defenses of Tokyo and all the evil which were once sealed away were set free, preying on all the pain and suffering of the city. While the military had units who specialized in dealing with these monstrosities, they were spread extremely thin. Not to mention the earthquake which caused all of these chaos, all the Onmyouji and priests and psychics the military could get their hands on concluded that the earthquake was a supernatural occurrence, and whatever had caused the earthquake was still lurking in Tokyo's shadow.

 

 

 

 

So such is the world which the RP would be set in. The players shall be a group of people recruited by the army to help them find the thing that caused the earthquake. You can be a policeman, an army officer, an Onmyouji or even a Christian exorcist. You could also be any other sorts of strange and fascinating characters if you think they can be helpful, for example a well connected merchant could use money to get things done, while a lowly street thug could use his street connections to find out clues and key witnesses. In any case the players must hurry, because the trail of breadcrumbs are vanishing quick.

 

 

And to get into more technical details, I would be the "Game keeper" and other members would be "players." I'd set the scene, play the parts of multiple "NPCs" and move the events forward. I decided to limit the player to 4 people to ensure coupling, of course you don't have to stick to a 1 to 1 relationship, and you could also choose to court with NPCs if you find them to your liking. And if you feel like it you can engage in whatever interesting R rated stuff, I mean we're all adults here right?

Once we've got enough members there'll be a set post order, with me being the first and the players following, then back to me again... Wonderful! You know the drills. If you'd like to reuse Fuu feel free to do so. This new "Shadow of Tokyo" story start off from one of the possible endings of our old thread, you can treat it as a mix of continuation and parallel universe. So he could have nothing to do with the "Yoshiwara" story line, or is actually a survivor. In the case of the latter he won't be able to recall anything that happened though.

 

Of course you can create a new character and have a fresh start as well. In any case I look forward to play with you once again.

Eyes: A variety of different blues, depending on his mood. His normal color, seen most often, is a mixture of light and dark greenish blues. Has long black eyelashes, and thin black eyebrows.

Hair: Has silky, raven black hair, that is quite long and kept in a braid that falls over the front of one shoulder. Has bangs that fall toward the center of his forehead, the end reaching the tip of his nose. His hair also falls to the sides of his face, framing it. If you really want to reuse him then sure. But since Fallen snow's character is already the survivor, I prefer your character to have have nothing to do with the "Yoshiwara" storyline. So whether you make a new character sheet or not for all intends and purposes he will be a "new character".
