"Caught in the wind, living in a dream we can’t control…"

---------sᴛᴏʀʏ---------

Dreams are wishes your hearts make, while nightmares are fears your hearts hide. Though quite different from one another, both deliver you to the same end - reality. From the fading darkness of your endless thoughts in your slumber, you unwillingly welcome the blinding gleam of the sunlight peeking through a window curtain, and wake up to the harsher fairytale of our everyday life. So casually, as if something you do since forever, you get up to start another day with the familiar scent of home and the comforting warmth of the aura around. You expect to go through the very same routine of your every morning and end to the very same ritual of your every evening. Yet, strangely - what is it you dreamt of? Was it a dream or was it a nightmare? When has the sunlight first caressed your skin so naturally? Why the cold, minty atmosphere instead of the warm embrace of coziness? Why the nearly white surroundings to wake up from? Was there somewhere else you should've woke up from? Where is that somewhere else? What is it you usually do? What is it you needed to do? Why does your train of thoughts continue to drive to the railway? Why does it not stop? Why does it not give you an answer, instead gives you more and more questions? Who exactly is you? Why -

Why is it you don't remember anything?

In an unknown world around unfamiliar friends, you wake up to the strangest nightmare. Yet, among all of the dreadful appearance of reality as a nightmare, there a young man of the same age stood unnoticed, with a soft, angelic smile and heavenly white outfit that stood out from the crowd in your room. Despite the weird attire, none paid him attention except you. He had been there since you woke up, yet everyone else only passed by and through him, like air silently and secretly taking form of a man. He stayed when everyone else left, kept you company at the lonely unfamiliar cold night. Who was he? Even he had no clue. Where did he come from? Even he had no clue, too. Strange, but you were just as strange. And for a while, everything felt normal.

"Don't worry. I'll always be by your side."

---------ᴘʟᴏᴛ---------

[YC] woke up from a few or more days of sleep in the hospital, only to be surprised with having no memories of anything about himself - including his past, his connections, everything, especially the reason for his loss. His family explained that he got himself into a car accident when he was driving in the middle of the night. Though they shared what happened, somehow it felt like something doesn't add up, but what does he even actually know? Beside [YC] is a strange, supernatural being that looked much like a human. He is [MC], and he pretty much resembles both an angel with his head to toe white attire and gentle smile and a ghost for being as invisible as air in the eyes of others except [YC]. Just like [YC], [MC] stated that he had no idea why he was right beside [YC] or what's his name. Because of the small similarity of having no idea what is going on, they became friends, slowly leading to a far more budding romance and intimate affection.

But the inch closer [YC] becomes with [MC], the more he uncovers about himself and the truth about the accident.

personality:

He is both honest and straightforward. He keeps his words and promises until the very end - even if it meant spending the whole night just searching for a pin in a haystack. He values the truth above all else and thinks everyone is deserving to know what is true, as harsh as it may be. Though there would be exceptions, he'd never tell a lie and rather stay silent, just as he always was. He'd probably never forgive himself and would be haunted by his own guilt. This may be because of his circumstances, having no memory but questions in his head, which made him quite a curious individual. Yet, he had given up searching for who he is or answers that must be seen.

Being alone and living like air might be lonely - can't exact touch anything, but he doesn't crave for something materialistic as objects. Rather, he only wanted company and connection. Just having someone who could see him, hear him and talk to him would be enough, which may explain his grown attachment to the first person to ever notice him. Though it doesn't mean that he is emotional and negatively sensitive. In fact, he is quite unexpectedly optimistic, especially after his first friend's awakening, and believed in the cliche hope and fate. But also because of his circumstance, he may crave a bit more of attention or at least communication, much like a child but in a different manner. Instead of receiving attention, he would rather be given the oppurtunity to shower the other person with attention and tender loving care, which was the reason why he looked after (reddot's character) quite keenly.

There may be more of him to be seen that he didn't know of. Afterall, he existed didn't exist too long ago.

background:

[ [ ??? ] ]

The written, but forgotten space of his life. Not even fragments of scenes to remind him anything about himself and his yesterdays. Left unquestioned and unanswered for quite a while for no matter how much he desired and tried to remember - there was just nothing for him to see, like an evening that will never ever come back.

[ [ ᴇxɪsᴛᴀɴᴄᴇ ] ]

One second, he was surrounded by nothing but darkness, but in the next moment, he was in a strange yet very nostalgic dream - the reality. The familiar view of the outside world, the sight of a room filled with so many white, the cold temperature yet cozy atmosphere of the room he stood in - everything appeared as a stranger to him, yet not entirely strange to seem too new and frightening. It felt like he had been there for quite a long while and felt foreign at the same time because he remembered nothing of such comfort and warmth.

Where am I? How did I get here?

A questioned piled on top of another, and yet another over the top of it, and then another, another - until in just a few seconds, his mind was filled with curiousity and uncertainty. His feet moved against his will and dragged him to the door, only to meet a woman in long white coat. He approached her to ask the very same questions he had in his mind, but she didn't even bat her eye from the paper she had been reading. He asked again and again, yet to no avail, until his hand reached out steal her attention away from her task. When he did, his fingers slipped through all of a sudden - slipped pass the woman before him. He gasped. He snatched his hand away. But she didn't flinch or twitch unnecessarily. She kept her eyes on what she was reading. Strange, was what he thought. He reached out and tapped her again, but he slipped through her again. He tried again, and again - but nothing. Finally she looked up and strided through him, as if he was as clear as air. Visitors followed right after her, and like her, they walked through him. He froze in his feet as realization sank in his mind.

They ignored him - no, they couldn't ignore what they couldn't see at all.

[ [ ɪɴsᴛᴀɴᴄᴇ ] ]

He could not be heard. He could not be felt. He could not be seen, much less be talked to. People walked here and there, functioned without turning to his direction even once. It was quite lonely - very. He could see what most couldn't see. He could hear what most couldn't hear. He could do what most couldn't notice, that was if he could look in an angle positively. Questions piled one after another, yet no one could answer all those. He felt like he had it worst, until he knew about the patient at the room he first woke up from.

"He is still asleep," the doctor solemnly and sincerely reported as she glanced at both the patient and the family, "I'm sorry, but we don't know when he will wake up."

They wept. They cried so hard, but those tears could never help the sleeping beauty with an injury on his leg wake up from his slumber. He could only offer his silence, for after all they couldn't hear him no matter what he would say. He could only offer his unknown presence. Yet, strangely, it tugged his heart strings. Unconsciously, he cared ever so deeply that even he wished he'd wake up soon. But why? Perhaps because of their small similarity. He slept peacefully away from his world, while he lived quietly away from his own, whatever it may have looked like before he had forgotten. Perhaps so. Before he knew it, he had offered his extra time looking after and guarding the patient. He watched nurses take care of him, and listened to the doctor report his condition. He watched him behind his visitors whenever they were there, and he kept a close guard on him whenever he was alone in the evening. The patient was unconscious, and he was invisible - it was better than dwelling over his own piling questions. He stayed when beside him when no one came by. He never swayed or left his side with whispering words of promises he always muttered at night. That tug in his heart strings never let him leave.

"Don't worry. I'll always be here."

[ [ ᴀᴄǫᴜᴀɪɴᴛᴀɴᴄᴇ ] ]

He twitched. He flinched. He slowly opened his eyes and mumbled under his breath. The unknown guardian had witnessed the first time the young man opened his eyes, and like the visitor that coincidentally was there, his heart leaped in joy and his eyes gleamed. Mixture of sadness and happiness wrapped him - but he was more glad, enough to bury away the ugly little negative feelings he felt. But words he least expected to hear came from his mouth - no, the words he had first asked himself slipped the lips of the young man he had taken care of, with another question he heard only once in his thoughts.

Where am I? How did I get here?

Who am I?

Like always, the doctor had the explanation to all, and he was more than willing to learn and hear for the reason behind those questions - for he never had a clue.*Amnesia was what the doctor said, forgetting everything there ever was about themselves. Another tug on his heart strings, for a different reason. For the first time since he first came to the world, a question in his mind had been answered. The news was devastating, but he didn't feel the same. He soon learned the young man's name, what had happened to him and everything told to him by the visitor who called himself as family. Though they weren't connected in any way, for the first time he felt that he wasn't alone. Question piled up after another, yes, but he didn't feel as bad as before. He grew attached to him, and fond of him even.

But even more when the young man noticed him.

relationships:

[ (Reddot's character) ]

He took care of the young man for quite a while, and grew slightly attached to him - especially over the fact that only he had the ability to see him and to talk to him for reasons unknown. Even after the recovery from the accident, he never once stopped his sense of concern and kindness. He considers him as his only friend and would want to help the man recover his memories and not end up like him.

others:

Birthmark: An irregular shaped birthmark located on his right forearm.

Necklace: A cross around his neck, though he always wondered why he had it.

Animals: He is quite fond of animals, especially cats.

Name:

Kane ; Yuudai { Golden, Great Hero }

Nickname:

Yuu

Age:

21

Personality:

{ Self-reliant ; Protective ; Aggressive ; Reckless }

Yuudai believes that for someone to be strong they need to do things for themselves and for others. He is very kind in the sense that he will give his assistance to others if asked but he wishes to face his own problems by himself and sometimes this can make him stronger. But it's always good to have someone to rely on and Yuudai doesn't have that.

He is protective of the things and people he cares for such as his family, even his stepbrother. It comes along with his natural maternal instincts and sometimes this can cause him trouble because it is somewhat easy for the people he cares for to use him, such as his stepbrother.

Yuudai can become violent, it comes along with his somewhat reckless nature. While, yes, he has a mothers instinct he also seems to let his emotions control him. Compulsive and ruled by his emotions he can be seen as reckless and can be manipulated fairly easily if someone knows him well enough.

Background:

Yuudai was born in the United States, his father was American and his mother was Japanese. At a young age he showed an interest in sports such as track, basketball, and soccer. His parents decided to split up when he was 11 but he got to see them both, his dad having him on the weekends and his mother having him on the weekdays. Yuudai was happy as long as he wasn't bored and it wasn't strange or unnatural for parents to go through divorce. It was until Yuudai was 13 that his mother took him to Japan with her were they would live from then on and after a year Yuudai was introduced to a new part of his family, his mother's boyfriend and his son Kasumi.

Kasumi treated Yuudai fairly in the beginning, putting on the act of a good big brother but as they got older Yuudai realized his older brother was too much of a handful for others and he needed Yuudai to get him out of trouble. Kasumi is very secretive too, Yuudai doesn't know much about the people he associates with.

After the motor accident he was hospitalized and unconscious for a week, he awoke to not only find that he had become handicapped and he has no memory of who he is but also that he can communicate with a spirit named Kou that no one else can see but him.

Relationships:

Kou || Spirit Boy || ???

All he knows about the guy is he woke up in the hospital, being the only one who could see and hear Kou. Apparently he's already dead and communicating with Yuudai for some unknown reason.

Matsuo, Kasumi || Older Stepbrother || 24

Related through marriage the two seem to get along as best they can but in truth Kasumi is no loving older brother. He is constantly into some sort of trouble and drags Yuudai into it.

Location: Yuudai's Room | Hospital

State: 13:30 | Sunny

Starting Scene:

Yuudai just received approval from his doctor to leave the hospital as soon as he wanted to. His condition seemed okay, other than what he had lost. Check-up would be needed, but it was alright for him to leave in a cast. Kou was right there, as always, when he heard the news.

Yuudai. That was the young man's name who was located in room 217 on the 3rd floor of the dreary hospital. He was riding his motor bike after getting off from his part-time job at a small bookstore, he was on his way to his apartment when a car collided into the bike. After being unconscious for a week in the hospital he awoke to find that he had no clue as to who he was, even after his own mother who had raised him looked him straight in the eyes, hers filled with tears, he could not recognize her. It was Amnesia. One of his legs had also gotten banged up in the accident, it would never work as well as it used to and the healing time was uncertain as of now. The past three days Yuudai has been sitting in this cold room receiving visitors who knew him and claimed that he too had once known them but they were all just faces without names or meaning to him. Yuudai understood that things would seem strange but he felt really tired, he didn't want to see anymore visitors. He wanted to go home or at least somewhere quiet without people.

Yuudai snapped out of his thoughts as he heard the the door creak open, on the other side was the doctor and in her hands were crutches. She set them on the other side of the room and said You're free to leave the hospital, I've notified your parents and they'll come in about an hour with fresh clothes to wear. Then she left the room leaving Yuudai alone. Well he wasn't completely alone. Eyes had been on him ever since he had woken up in the hospital, a man hiding in the background. He was pale with dark hair and he didn't speak much, actually Yuudai hadn't heard him speak at all. Yuudai pulled the covers off himself and carefully shifted his legs to the side of the bed, he glanced around the room and in the corner of his eye he caught the figure of the man once again. Why doesn't he say anything? Stop staring at me you freak! Yuudai glared in the direction of the man and then attempted to stand on his own. Setting his right foot on the floor, supporting himself on the railings of the bed and then applying pressure to his broken leg causing him to fall over. But he caught himself in time, his hand pressing against a wall and helping him to stand. Yuudai was surely a determined or stubborn guy, he continued to walk towards the other side of the room with the wall as his support but each step he took on that broken leg was painful. Teeth gritted and his face cringed with each step on that broken leg.

Once he reached the other side of the room Yuudai grabbed what he needed, his crutches and the bag of clothing he wore when he got into the accident. With much more ease, Yuudai headed back towards his bed and tossed the bag onto the white sheets. He sat down on the bed, setting his crutches beside him, and starting to strip off his clothes. Yuudai stopped suddenly after realizing that he wasn't actually alone in the room. He glanced over his shoulder as he was in process of removing his shirt, eyeing the other male with a stern expression. "Are you going to stop staring at me or do I have to come over there and hit you in the face." Yuudai snapped at the other man and then continued to ignore him, he took out the beaten up clothes from the bag and pulled blood stained tank-top over his head.

"Who are you?" Yuudai spoke up with his back turned to the pale man, he was stripping his lower half and slipping on the basketball shorts he wore the night of the accident. He dug into the bag once more and retrieved a pair of shoes, he only needed the left one. "Are you patient here?" He grabbed his crutches and stood up from the bed, he was planning to leave the hospital before his parents arrived. Yuudai was exhausted from the whole ordeal, he wanted to go to his apartment and rest. He was aware he needed help from his family to go through this new transition but it was all becoming too much.

Tick tock. Tick tock. Yet again, he was counting the seconds passing by at the clock located at the lobby. How long had it been since the last time he existed, if it was alright to say so that way? More than a week perhaps. Over time, he considered the hospital as his home for it was the only place he could find himself at. It was the only place where he could see every day faces of the doctors and nurses, so much that he remembered their names, even if they didn’t know his and ignored his presence. Not that he could blame them. After all, there was no possible way to know someone who couldn’t be seen. Even if they do, he had no name to tell. Nonetheless, he started to love the hospital despite being non-existent, for the very same reasons he would feel lonely. But those weren’t the only ones.

With the last tick, a minute had passed and a woman passed by him with crutches on her hand. It was his doctor. As always, she always tried her best to follow according to schedule, and by the looks of it, she’d be in Room 217 pretty soon. He was waiting for her at the lobby, instead of patiently waiting in Room 217. She was an auburn beauty, he had remarked, quite perfect with her responsible attitude, only she wasn’t too dedicated to her patients and a complete chatterbox to the other staff. But he was glad she was the doctor for the patient in Room 217 for he knew all too well that he was in the right hands. Excitedly, he followed right behind he. He had overheard her talking to another doctor about discharging the patient from Room 217 even before the family knew. She said that the state of the patient was alright and that enough filled him with joy. If he could, he would’ve immediately ran to the patient to tell him the good news. He treated the young man as a friend. Kane Yuudai was his name. He remembered – he really tried to keep his name in his own mind, hoping to not forget. But unfortunately, it was not as if he could be heard by his friend anyway.

Soon enough, he and the doctor, Sato, stood in front of Room 217. He quickly walked through the door even before she opened it and stood expectantly at one side, the very same side where he always quietly sat whenever visitors dropped by to check on Yuudai. His eyes turned from the doctor to Yuudai, then vice versa, hoping to see a happy reaction from the patient. Well, it was a good news! You’re free to leave the hospital, I’ve notified your parents and they’ll come in about an hour with fresh clothes to wear. And? Was there a happy reaction?

None. Dr. Sato only set his clutches on the side and left the room. Yuudai? Not even a smile or a sigh of relief. At least, he didn’t see any reaction from him. The young man was all on his own, he could show a small bit of excitement if he didn’t want Dr. Sato to see. ‘Not entirely alone, but still,’ he thought. Suddenly, Yuudai turned to the side of the bed, but his eyes turned to his direction. Was he not happy he was leaving the hospital? He wondered. If he was, he could not blame Yuudai since the hospital looked like a wealthy man’s home with lots and lots of servants. Even he would want to stay at a luxurious place. But it felt like Yuudai was glaring at him – nah, that’s impossible.

Yuudai attempted to stand on his own, and that dropped a gram of worry in his chest. ‘Don’t,’ he thought to himself, his mouth hanging open in an effort to slip those words into sound. But it was as pointless as offering a hand to help. When Yuudai almost dropped himself on the ground, he panicked. His palm felt sweaty and he was nervous in his stead that he almost rushed over to him, only to stop when he caught himself. Chest felt too tight and too loud out. He could only watch and worry for Yuudai as he got his crunches and bag. He sighed, a very deep relieved sigh. So far in his existence, that was the most intense moment he ever witnessed. Friend? He was a very useless guardian, and he dare think of him as a friend. Though one-sided, he still took care of him when he was asleep and kept watch, silently guarding him, when he was awake all those time. Reason? Even he didn’t know. But that was all he could ever offer.

"Are you going to stop staring at me or do I have to come over there and hit you in the face,” he heard.

He looked up only to be surprised, to see Yuudai looking at his direction again, and this time, he was sure he was looking. Did he just talk to him? Did he ask a question to him? Motionless. Frozen. He was drop-dead surprised, his eyes gazing from the scar on his body to the face of the man he silently watched over. He must say something, anything! “Uh…” he whispered. The young man turned his back at him and returned to dressing himself up, but his words seemed directed at him either way. “Who are you?” he asked, only exciting and surprising him even more but speechless. “Are you patient here?” he asked again, and by then he was breathing heavily, a small stupid attempt to calm down his excitement. “N-No, I…” he muttered, tongue-tied from the sudden joy filling him up. Yuudai was asking him questions. Yuudai was talking to him. Yuudai was looking at him. What should he say? Should he say something? But he asked. He actually asked!

Unconsciously, he slowly walked over to Yuudai with his eyes dark eyes wide in surprise. “You’re talking to me? Right?” he asked with hopeful eyes, words slipping from his grasp. He blocked the young man's way, not too mindful that he was leaving too soon. Perhaps he was, but it didn't come in par with the surprise. His eyes looked down and only then realized Yuudai's disobedience from the doctor's words. "You shouldn't leave yet, Yuudai,” he said, "Your family isn't here yet."

The man muttered and mumbled words that Yuudai didn't care to hear or understand. For the moment he was trying to leave the hospital as quickly as he could, he wasn't sure where he was heading or where he'd end up but it was better than going to an unfamiliar home that he apparently grew up in as teenage boy and couldn't recall one single memory from it now.

You're talking to me? Right?

Who else would he be speaking too? They were the only two in the room or that's what the scenario appeared to be to the both of them. Others would call Yuudai crazy or delirious if he tried to point out the strange man in his room but he wasn't quite aware of that yet. "Yes I'm talking to you." He spoke again without looking at the pale young man, his hands gripping onto the handles of his crutches as he prepared to move forward but was stopped in his tracks when the pale young man stood in his path. Intentional or not, Yuudai would have knocked the man off his feet if he kept him in that room any longer. The darker toned male stared at the pale man in front of him, he didn't express any form of kindness but instead a stern expression towards the man. "I'm an adult. I don't need to wait around for them to discharge me." It was a lie. Of course he was grown but even he knew that a person in serious condition had no rights without some sort of caretaker to look after them and amnesia was a serious condition.

Yuudai moved around the pale man and towards the door, he stopped for a brief moment in front of the door. I have no idea where I'm going. The realization that he was three stories up in the building and that he wasn't familiar with layout of the hospital sunk into him. Even if he didn't run into Dr. Sato, others would stop him to ask about the blood stained shirt he was wearing. He definitely looked out of place and wouldn't make it out of his room without being questioned by some passerby. But he could help me. Yuudai turned his head to look at the pale man, his expression was filled with worry for some reason and it had confused Yuudai for awhile now as to why this man was so keen on him. "You can stay here in this room alone or you can leave with me...Your choice." With that Yuudai left the room and glanced around the hall, no one was wandering them.

The hall was empty so he pressed onward down the hall, he stopped for a moment to look over his shoulder and was disappointed to see that the pale man had not left the room like he had hoped. Oh well, he would find his own way out of the hospital though it would have been a great help to have some assistance but he wasn't one to ask. Yuudai was stubborn, he wouldn't go back to the room and ask for the man's help. He'd rather get a few bumps and bruises from walking with the crutches he still wasn't accustomed to. Besides, I don't need his help anyway, he thought to himself. It was clear to Yuudai that he couldn't go down to the lobby or use the elevator, someone would definitely see him. He didn't have a plan so Yuudai continued walking down halls until he finally found staircases that led outside the hospital or as he guessed.

Bustling through the door Yuudai was met with three sets of staircases, all equally troublesome for the young man. Walking down stairs with crutches wasn't the most impossible task but it was very dangerous considering if he fell and hurt himself there would be no one coming to his rescue. It was an emergency escape stairway, it ensured him that no one would bother him while he tried to exit the hospital or if he got hurt. Moving forward Yuudai began climbing down the stairs and he moved on the side of the stairs that was closest to the wall, taking each step with caution.

Yuudai made it down the first set of stairs without ease, he took brief steps with his left foot adding pressure to his broken leg and then moved the crutches to support him once more. One set of stairs was tiring enough for Yuudai, now he needed to repeat it two more times to reach the bottom. He continued to head towards the top of the second set of stairs, Almost there, and took his first step down the stairs. But Yuudai lost his balance, probably from misplacing his crutches on the stair and acting to quickly but it could have been that his legs still weren't used to moving after more than a week of being in bed. So the young man lost his balance and he immediately tossed one of his crutches aside as his hand reached out for something to grab on but it was too late. Yuudai fell forward, eyes open wide as he saw the ground come further and further to him.

"Yes I'm talking to you."

And then fireworks exploded behind him - or was it inside him? He couldn't say but happiness was all he could think of, to the point he imagined pink small four-petaled flowers floating around them. Oh, now he understood all too well the excitement of the nurses' excitements whenever the young, handsome doctor of the hospital would talk to them. Wait, it only meant he was reacting like a girl? Anyone in his situation, who wouldn't?! All those times he tried to talk to someone and attempt to let someone hear him failed miserably that he was convinced more than anything that he was non-existent. He couldn't hold objects or touch a person. He couldn't be heard or spoken to. He had given up a long time ago. And yet, Yuudai somehow saw him. The first person to see him. Those times whenever the young man would glance on his direction while he was staring - he was actually looking at him, too? Could Yuudai really see him all those times? He had so many things he had been dying to say. But where to start?

"I'm an adult. I don't need to wait around for them to discharge me."

He was overwhelmed, yes, but he was confused at the same time, which controlled his emotions to a reasonable amount that it all quickly changed back to the worry he felt with only those few words Yuudai said. Even if he said that, in his state, he needed company. He knew that more than anyone. He was no doctor, or nurse - or from any kind of medical profession. But for all those seconds he gave just to watch over Yuudai, it would be fair to say that he knew just as much, especially with the clothes he was wearing. Inside he might slip away, but outside? He wondered what could possibly happen to Yuudai outside. "That's still dangerous, I really think you should wait," he tried to convince the injured individual, even if those words he said weren't exactly the first words he thought he'd say if someone ever heard him, "It'd be a whole lot easier for you. And they would be worried sick if they find you gone."

But stubbornly, as if the darker-toned man was deaf, he stepped to the side with his clutches as his other foot and walked to the door. He reached out. The spirit-like boy reached out to stop and to pull the hard-headed patient back to bed, only to stop halfway when he remembered something very important. He could not touch Yuudai. He could only pass through him like he once experience with Dr. Sato. His fingers curled and clenched his hand into a ball of fist, trembling in disappointment to himself, before dropping them to his side. "Yuudai, please," he begged and Yuudai halted, "Just stay. I-I think it would be better. Don't worry, I'll keep you company if you're bored." Worry, worry, worry - and another worry. Words he expressed were so many compared to yesterday, and he surprised himself. Just with the worry-filled mind that was full of Yuudai - he didn't think he would one day say so much to him. Well, now he did. He never thought he'd even imagine terrible incidents and accidents that could happen, when all those days he existed, nothing but happy thoughts stayed in his mind. He haven't stepped out of the hospital and only knew as much as he watched at the television in the waiting area - nothing too positive.

"You can stay here in this room alone or you can leave with me...Your choice." He was too worried that he failed to process what Yuudai said, but his eyes were focused on the built yet lean figure standing limped on the door. The tan-skinned man mouthed words, but he couldn't tell what he said other than what it seemed to the "deaf from thoughts" being. Yuudai didn't listen and walked out, while he only stood inside, dumbfounded and motionless. He didn't listen. Perhaps, Yuudai didn't actually see him or hear him, but was talking to himself? That would actually be funny and he would've laughed, but it felt so real. His eyes glared at him so coldly he froze. His words were sharp and mean that he was pierced in his chest. Yuudai was so close, enough that he could embrace him and keep watching over him. He knew he was strangely fixated on the patient he didn't know of until a week or more before. It was the truth. That was all there was. And if Yuudai left? He would be back to the usual. He never thought that far, but suddenly processing the words Yuudai said earlier - he finally snapped from his thoughts and raced out of the room. That was right, he didn't plan to think that far for he wanted to follow him. With that in his mind, he looked around for a tall dark-skinned man.

He missed. Yuudai was no longer in the hallway. For a limpy injured man, he sure was fast. "Yuudai!" he called out and made a run to search for him, "Hey, Yuudai!" He looked at the lobby, attempted to ask others but they ignored him (or never actually noticed him). He raced passed people, slipping through them with ease and looked everywhere for Yuudai. For once, he was glad he couldn't be seen panicking and worried. "Dr. Sato, have you seen Yuudai?!" he even asked the doctor who was gossiping with the other nurses, but she didn't hear a sound. Seriously, how did Yuudai hear him or even see him?! Questions could be heard from the actual man himself. Think, think, think. If he were a limped man rushing to leave before his parents came, where would he go? Where could he go so he wouldn't be caught? How would he know where to go anyway?! He had so many questions as he attempted to think like Yuudai, but it was hopeless and unneeded. He searched - went through rooms and peeked through elevators, but he wasn't there. He wasn't anywhere. Only more worry clouded him, and any more he would be in a state of panic.

Until he heard clangs behind a door with the word 'Exit' indicated and a running stickman figure drawing. 'Of course!' he thought, 'Emergency exit!' It was the only door left unused for long time. Though it had said exit, barely anyone left through that door, which meant that it would be a perfect get-away route to the outside world if he wanted to leave unnoticed. A small smile formed on his lips as he leaped through the closed door to get to the other side. He made no clang sound despite landing on the surface, since he was as light as air, yet he heard many clings from below and when he peeked, he saw his dark-skinned friend. "Yuudai!" he attempted to call out, yet it wasn't loud enough to catch his attention from heading down. He followed suit, hurried down the set of stairs. Just when he was so close to use his voice to catch his attention, again, suddenly the figure he was reaching out to lost balance and fell, farther away from him.

"No - YUUDAI!"

Everything went by so fast that his mind went blank. Loud, trembling heart beat inside him was all he could hear and something warm against his chest. His breath were heavy and his eyes were wide open, not bother blinking as he stared at the last end of the second set of the stair - empty and clear from any body or blood, just dropped clutches and bag from Yuudai.

When Yuudai fell and released his clutches to grab a hold of something to stop his fall, just as everything was too late and too far to reach, a hand stretched out at a timing almost too right and took his. It took almost every energy and strength to go against the force of gravity and pull back a falling human body. But that pale lifeless man still exerted so and pulled Yuudai away from the floor, only with risking his own balance and falling on the stairs with his back. He gasped for air - thirsty and desperate to have air for his heart because for a moment, he felt it drop and stop. When he saw Yuudai fall, he had lost all his remaining senses. All that he could think about was saving Yuudai. "Ow!" A sudden, unexpected sharp jolt of pain burned on his back - something he felt for the first time since he came to his consciousness, but that didn't beat the feeling of embracing the patient he watched over for a long time. The warmth of his body, his scent mixed with the old stench of the clothing he wore - it all assured him that Yuudai was around his arm.

...Wait, how was that possible?

"A-Are you okay?" he finally asked out, dismissing his curiousity and confusion, after the deep breaths he took and loosened the tight hold, "No, wait, should you have Dr. Sato check you again? Ugh - are you hurt, Yuudai? Your stitch did not open right?" He was concerned - of both the reason why and how he could actually feel the tanned skin of Yuudai and his state - and his own state, "Owww, why did that hurt?" His head turned from side to side, searching of a way to lift Yuudai back to his doctor for a check-up just in case. Of course, that was him overreacting and not knowing what to do. "Oh God, I thought you would've been hurt again," he mumbled though with their distance it was almost enough for Yuudai to hear.

The seconds seemed like minutes as he fumbled, reached out in hopes that there was something or someone to grab onto, and the loud clanging of the metal as the crutches fell to the floor. Then as the darkly toned man closed his eyes time sped up and he was lying on the floor, his breath hitching inside his lungs and his heart pulsing. Though something warm laid under him. It was Him

The pale young man was lying beneath Yuudai, his arms wrapped around him close to protect him from harm and his heart pounding inside his chest even more than Yuudai's own heart. The hand he had reached out had been taken by this man, he pulled Yuudai away from harm and risked himself in the favor of Yuudai's own safety. WhY? Yuudai was baffled himself, he first saw the man only a few days ago and first spoke to him less than an hour ago. If Yuudai knew this man before the accident then he would have said something to him by now or at least introduced himself properly by giving Yuudai his name. It was clear the pale man knew his name.

You okay - Are you hurt - Your stitches did not open right - I thought you would've been hurt

All these questions of worry spouting out of the man's mouth and his grip around Yuudai failing to let loose as they both laid there for a moment more, their hearts adjusting from the breathtaking fall. Why the hell does he care? Yuudai found himself asking as he listened to the man go on and honestly hearing the pale man frantically worry over him caused an unpleasant stir in his stomach. I'm not a child He thought to himself, biting the bottom of his lip as he tried to stop himself from saying anything. You're the one who's still trembling Yuudai pressed his hand against the marble floor and moved off the other male.

"There's no reason to go see the doctor, if anything you should go get checked up and stop bothering me with stupid questions." There was possibly a hint of concern in his critical voice as his eyes stared at the pale young man lying on the marble floor. Was he hurt? Of course not, the pale young man cushioned his fall and prevented injury. He almost wanted to reach out and brush the dark hair on his head, he must have been aching from slamming onto marble floors but he didn't. While he was thankful to the pale man he still didn't understand why he did what he did. Was it to make Yuudai feel guilty that the man was hurt in his stead? Or did he just care for Yuudai enough to keep him from harm even if it meant he was harmed instead. Yuudai didn't know.

Leaning to the side Yuudai stretched out an arm and grabbed onto the end of his crutches, pulling them to his side and then leaning over once more to reach for the bag he had brought along with him. "Who are you?" The darker-skinned man asked sternly, already standing up after reaching his crutches and propping himself up with them. "You know my name and who I am but I don't know a thing about you. Did I know you before the accident? No one would take a hit in the head for a guy they didn't know already so just tell me how I'm supposed to know you."

"There's no reason to go see the doctor, if anything you should go get checked up and stop bothering me with stupid questions."

“S-Sorry,” he said, quite embarrassed to be told off from his “stupid questions”. But either way, he felt relieved and thankful. Yuudai was okay. That thought eased him and he gave himself very deep breaths to let his chest relax and feel calmer. He felt Yuudai’s eyes stare at him and tugged a small smile on his lips as he replied, scratching his cheek with his finger, at what he thought to be a generous offer. “Thank you, but er, I don’t think that’s necessary – “ for the reason that he couldn’t be seen by any doctor, not even Dr. Sato “ – as long as you’re fine, then I am too, Yuudai.”

Sure, he wasn’t connected with him in any manner at all – not even their souls were related like having both trapped in one body, like in a television drama he saw the other day – but he was definitely alright as long as Yuudai was. No pain would be too unbearable for the dark-toned young man. At least, so far, he never felt any pain. It was strange enough of an experience to be spoken to, and then all of a sudden he could touch and feel pain, too? It was a nice thing, sure, if he actually knew the reason why. Unexplainable, and confusing, but he was sure enough that that was not the reason for the ache he could feel in his head. His hand supported the weight his head felt like it had and groaned from the pain. It was definitely from the fall he took from losing his balance. ‘So much for looking cool, huh,’ he thought.

"Who are you?"

He looked up to see Yuudai finally standing with the support of the crutches given to him. He rushed to stand on his feet and brushed off imaginary dust and dirt sticking on his silky white pants. His mouth opened, and was about to answer the man’s question happily, only to remember that even he had no idea who exactly he was. Not even his name, his age, or even who he was as an individual. Uncertainty embraced his chest, yet he tried to keep the smile he wore so cheerfully on his lips. What was he supposed to tell Yuudai? It would be disrespectful not to reply after the constant ‘Yuudai, Yuudai’ he had been saying for the past moments. Now that he realized it, he had been saying his name over and over – like the obsessed maniac pink-haired girl from the ‘Future Diary’ television show airing every evening.

"You know my name and who I am but I don't know a thing about you. Did I know you before the accident? No one would take a hit in the head for a guy they didn't know already so just tell me how I'm supposed to know you."

“Maybe I did know you?” he began to reply, his pale-colored thumbs fumbling with one another as he seek for the words that could properly explain the circumstances he had been bearing on his own for a whole while now. “Maybe. As for my name, I wish I could answer that. I mean – I don’t know. I don’t even think I have one. If I do, I guess I just don’t really know. Or maybe, more like I don’t really remember. So I may or may not have a name like you, Yuudai. O-Oh, and I’m sorry for calling you ‘Yuudai’. Uhm, I just heard your family call you that whenever they visit you. And uh…” He talked more than he ever thought he did, more than earlier or the first time he came to in the hospital, and found himself lost for words. What else could he say? How should he say it? What words should he say to have Yuudai understand rather than confused? He was a little bit nervous. He failed to practice the moment when he had to tell something to someone after all those times of isolation. Yuudai must be confused, or maybe he understood him – he couldn’t tell because his eyes were looking around but Yuudai, hoping words would pop out in the air or written on the floor. “I guess I am just like you?” he wondered out loud, unknown to him that he was speaking his thoughts, “I don’t really know anything, too. But unlike you, no one can answer that question for me. So I don't really know anything...”

He snapped from his thoughts when he realized he said words he shouldn’t have said – words that appeared insensitive on his part. It must’ve been hard for Yuudai to not know anything, or so he thought, and here he was, rubbing salt on his friend’s wounds. “S-Sorry, I didn’t mean it that way! I just – “ he trailed off as he rushed his mind to come up with something else to say, just to change the subject and prevent poking on Yuudai’s wounds any more than he already did. “A-Anyway, like I said earlier, you really should wait for your parents, or you’ll fall again!” he attempted to shift the topic, though he wasn’t doing a good job. After all, it was his first time talking to someone – and it was Yuudai at that!
