Plot

Something fishy is going on in the Heavens and it smells absolutely rotten.

After the death of one Anya Nimparon nee Noel the Nimparon family was left broken with a distant father and two young twin boys. Years later, under mysterious circumstances, seventeen year old Ruune Nimparon, the youngest son of the recently appointed Head of the Realm Officials, is slated to fall. How can one murder someone and not remember it? Does that make them guilt or innocent even if they were caught red handed in the act?

After being taken in by a strange woman named Astaat and forced to play a part on the sickening carnival only referred to as the Demoni Ruune must find out the dark reason behind his falling...but does he really want to know the sick truth?

After the death of his lover by the hands of his own twin brother Isaan Nimparon knows the bitter taste of betrayal. Cold and unfeeling, the young Angel joins the Officials with a single minded determination.

Aheal Nimparon, the father of Isaan Nimparon and Ruune Nimparon is swimming in grief. First was the death of his wife and then there was the fall of his youngest...he dives into his work, trying to ignore is mounting depression.

A few years after Ruune's fall he had fallen into a solum routine living in the Demoni, but when a new pair of prisoners show up on the Demoni's doorstep what will he choose...the family that left him behind, or the family that took him in?

Setting

The Heavens

The Heavens is a beautiful place, but underneath that it is a strict place with only one goal in mind; to produce more soldiers and produce more mother to have said soldiers. Anyone and anything out of the norm tends to be ostracized. The Heavens itself is always a decent temperature, and there is rarely bad weather. The building are all wonderful looking and the streets are paved in gold...it looks akin to a paradise but is nothing but.

The Nimparon Household is located in the Heavens. It is two stories tall with three bedroom, and painted a plane white. It is on the outskirts of the Heavenly city and has a large yard. In the backyard lay the dummies used for sword training, and a small shed housing now little used gardening tools, and old wooden swords. Ever since the fall of Nimparon's youngest son the house had been surrounded by a cold and unwelcoming aura.

The City

Currently in a city called Half-Light City things are getting bad. Everything is tense after the fall of a criminal Demon run organization called The Demoni. In short, they were known for their ruthless slaughter of Humans, Half-Demons, and Angels for sport, and their abuse of all who apposed their leader in anyway within their ranks. The city it's self is split into three zones; The Human Zone, The Demon Zone, and the Neutral Zone.

The Human Zone is the largest of the zones, and the most highly populated. It is populated by Human, Angels staying on earth and Half-Angels (though, some Half-Angels are taken to the Heavens if deemed powerful enough). Being a Hunter is a respectable occupation, and there are even classes taught to future Hunters in school. Half-Demons are looked down upon, and in some cases even killed, and Demons and Fallen are not tolerated. This section of the city is surrounded by an electric fence, though, that is a recent addition. Only those with special permission may enter and leave. It is also the nicest looking part of the city.

The Demon Zone is a dark, fearsome place to be. It is highly dangerous, and not many humans or even Half-Demons even try to venture into it's walls. It is a seedy place full of illegal practices, slave rings, and is generally just a crazy place to be. Humans, unless slaves, double agents, or demon bound, are killed on sight, or captured. That goes double for Angels, and Half-Angels as well. Half-Demons are tolerated, but not welcomed. It is generally the definition of controlled chaos. It is noticeably grittier than the Human Zone but not run down. It's borders are also marked by a fence, but not electric.

The Neutral Zone is literary right in between the Demon zone and the Human Zone. It is significantly smaller than both other zones as well, and is noticeably more rundown. It is populated mainly by supportive Humans, Fallen, Half-Demons, and the odd Demon. Though small the community is pretty tight knit. They refuse to take a side, causing a lot of tension. Their only defense is is the citizens and the two mercenary groups that had set up base within the zone; The Freelacers and The Triad. They are slightly more open with their borders, but some visitors will know that they're not welcomed. Other noticeable places in the Neutral Zone are, the Hell's Angel's Fight Club, Belz (a bar), and The Shop (a supply shop known for it's legal and illegal products.) It's borders are marked by the other zone's fencing.

The Demoni Base

The Demoni base is hidden underground, with the appearance of an old shed on top. Beneath a trapped door in the shed is a long stair case that leads down to the first floor, which is wear the arena and check in area are located. Beneath that are the three floors built for rooming the members of this dangerous gang, with the lowest of those being also the home of the Medical Unit and the Med Bay. And below that are two more floors built for holding the prisoners.

Species

Angels

Winged beings of great power and can live for up to five hundred year or even longer. They are notoriously. For the most part they look similar to humans except for the fact that their bodies are often covered in feathers tinted the color of their eyes; the darker the tint the more powerful the angel. They can have a wide range of skin colors, but often have lighter pigmented hair (White, Silver, Blonde, Red, Light Brown, etc...). They can have eyes of any color, even the impossible when it comes to humans, and albinism is fairly common.

Demons

Demons are intimidating beings separated by the 'clan' they belong to. They are the former inhabitants of a dead realm and now roam the earth alongside humans. They have just as long of a life span as angels.

Sloth

Usually the more mammal-like demons, like those with fur, and such with solid colored eyes and sharp teeth

Wrath

These demons often have horns, and really tough skin that's usually dark reds, and oranges. Usually have solid colored eyes.

Lust

Succubi and Incubi basically, usually beings with leathery bat wings, and occasionally tails, feet off of sexual energies, and often have long talons and bird-like feet. They usually have black or grey skin

Pride

Demons with horns, and tails, usually have cloven feet, claws and solid colored eyes, they usually range from black to dark reds in terms of skin color

Gluttony

The shape shifters, they can either change their appearance, or shift into an animal-like form. Their true form usually has very sharp and long teeth, long claws and yellow, orange or red eyes and black sclera. The eyes are the only part that can never change

Envy

These demons are scaled and reptile like, and tend to be colorful. Their scales can be any color, but their visible skin tends to be shades of gray. And they have black sclera

Greed

These demons tend to be feathery and crow/raven-like with talon-like claws, and two-toed feet with long curved talons. Tend to be called mock angels. Their skin ranges from black to shades of grey. They tend to have solid colored eyes.

Half Breeds

There are two variations of Half Breeds in the world, Half Demons and Half Angels. Both Half Demons and Half Angels can have any mix of features from their non-human parent. Half Angels are born straight out with their features while Half Demons have adapted and have to have their demonic blood either activated, or forced out of them through a traumatic event. A Demon Angel crossbreed is nearly unheard of.

Fallen

Fallen are technically not a different species than Angels. They are really just Angels that have lost their wings and have Fallen from grace. When their wings are cut they loose most of their Angelic abilities, and their healing rate is cut in half. If and Angel can earn back their 'wings' (aka Abilities) is not known, since there had been none who had, or those who had have not stepped forward. There are two ways an Angel looses their wings; they either get them clipped off, which is an act of mercy, and then there is the Rot. The Rot is when an angel is tossed out of the Heavens with their wings still intact. Slowly the wings will begin to rot and disintegrate off the body until only stumps are left. It is an extremely painful experience and a punishment only reserved for the worse of criminals. The tell tale signs are the feathers blackening and starting to fall out of the wings, soon followed by flesh, and the flaking off of bone.

The Trial

His head was swimming and the murmurs of the angels in attendance sounded as if they were speaking through a thick layer of cotton. His steps were shaky and the guards that dragged him from his cell had to hold his arms to keep him steady before dropping him into a chair. He sat here limply as thin wrists were guided into the metal restraints of the seat, blood crusted fingers not even bothering to grip the arm of the chair. Once snowy white wings hung over the low back of the hard chair, their once magnificent feathers crusted with dirt and dried blood. He sat like a puppet who had just gotten its strings cut, head bowed forward, and knotted white hair hanging over his face. His dull purple eyes were glazed, and stared blankly at the ground behind his curtain of hair.

/Flash Back/

How long had he been in that cell? Hours? Days? Weeks? His perception of time at this point was weak. The last thing he recalled was making dinner for his family…and his brother’s girlfriend…Ashley? Yes, Ashley was her name. He remember his brother proudly introducing her, strong arm wrapped around her petite waist, and a halo of golden curls framing her delicate face. A woman truly fitting to be an angel’s lover. He had forced a weak smile, and tried to muster up the will to be happy for his twin through the heartache and exhaustion he felt. His brother had left the room to discuss something with their father, and he was left alone with Ashley…he shook her out stretched hand, and tried to return her radiant smile…and then blank. Next thing he knew he woke up hungry and thirsty in a dank and dirty cell.

He had forced himself to sit up shakily, and looked around…the cell was a five foot by five foot hole in a wall behind a thick door of iron. The artificial light leaking in through the small barred window was his only source of sight or he would have been left in the inky pitch of darkness. That thought made his skin absolutely crawl.

In the dim lighting he managed to make out the shape of a bowl, and had crawled forward on his hands and knees, cramped wings pressed to his back…water! Like an animal he raised the bowl to his lips and guzzled it down in desperate gulps…he was just so thirsty. He coughed slightly, and wiped the remaining water from his lips. Next he spotted a dish…he couldn’t tell what kind of food was on it, but part of him didn’t quite care. He quickly snatched up what felt to be a day old roll and bit into it greedily. He swallowed it in half chewed chunks, and licked the crumbs from dainty fingers only to be met with another taste as well…metallic and coppery, and it made him feel ill. He ended up throwing up the water and roll to the realization. He coughed and gagged, goopy brown-ish chunks leaving his mouth, and leaking down his chin. His throat was burning, and his stomach hurt. Fat tears rolled down his cheeks as shaky sobs left his lips…where was he and why were his hands so bloody?

He had cried himself horse, yelled hysterically for his brother and father, banged on the door, and tried to yell out the window…silence. He was only met with silence. He clawed and banged on the stone walls, leaving his knuckles bruised and blood, and his nails in shreds. Near the tail end of his hysteria he had even screamed “Mommy!” A plead to his long dead mother to come and save him from this hell…but nobody came. He ended up sliding down the wall, staring at the wall opposite of him…and that’s how he was when the guards came for him…nearly catatonic in fetal position and staring at the wall with glazed purple eyes.

/End Flashback/

“Ruune Nimparon,” A booming voice intoned, bringing him back to the present and finally making the white haired boy move in the form a flinch and a twitch, “You have been brought before the Heavenly Council for the murder of the human Ashley Kron…how do you plead?”

Ruune’s eyes were wide behind his hair, panic and confusion filled him…his head was throbbing. A woman screaming…his brother yelling, and the sound of metal tarring through tender flesh flashed through his skull and when he tried to voice his confusion...nothing came out.

The Trial

Mahogany orbs stared in the distance of the court, mind filled with tainted thoughts. A 'shut up' lingering at the lips of the angel with the amount of rumors spreading through the capacity, even with him present. Occasionally his name was spoken, which would receive a harsh glance, with such pity. The older twin never was one for attention, so receiving such a large amount was overwhelming; sickening, and he could only blame Ruune.

At the sound of doors opening, the room went quite for a second. Isaan cared to glance, staring to the fragile figure that appeared before the guards. Chatter began. The silvery haired twin once again gazing to the off white walls of the court. The session had already brought him annoyance even when it hadn't began. It was so dramatic. So...loud. Isaan could feel the anger swell inside. Blood seeming to boil. This would be a good time for Ashley to calm him but that was now impossible. She was dead. All at the hands of his foul brother. A chuckle left his lips. There was no reason to be upset. What happened was over and now...Ruu would face the consequences. Being a fallen was much worse than not living. At least that was the way the young official viewed it.

A hand was placed onto Isaan's shoulder, along with a comforting squeeze. It was none other than his father. Aheal hadn't been looking forward to this day. All he had done was complain about failing. The disappointed Anya was sure to see. The mistake his son had made. Blah, blah, blah. It was all bullshit. Something Isaan cared little about. Not that he even wished to be here himself. In the world of Angels, such acts as killing a human had severe results and it happened to be with Ruune. Big deal.

"Ruune Nimparon, you have been brought before the Heavenly Council for the murder of the human Ashley Kron…how do you plead?”

Finally the court had begin.

His voice was non existent at this point; he had no idea why...it just seemed as if his vocal chords had seized up as soon as he opened his mouth. With no voice Ruune had no defense, no way to say that he didn't remember doing that...but apparently he did do it. According to blood soaked fingers, and the judge sitting in the glistening throne above him he did. He killed Ashley Kron...but he didn't remember killing her. He had read that sometimes the brain liked to block out traumatic memories by why...why in the world would he do that in the first place?

The court room was too quiet now, when once it was filled with the chatter of the occupants, all of them waiting on the edge of their seats to hear what the youngest son of the Head of the Realm Officials would say. Someone could drop and pin and it would echo across the white walls, and yet Ruune Nimparon said nothing, just kept head bowed.

"Guilty or Innocent, Mr. Nimparon," The judge asked once again, though it sounded more firm and impatient than any question Ruune had ever had directed towards him.

Again it was met with silence...he could feel the judge's golden eyes boring down on him.

"Guilty?"

At that Ruune did the only thing he could...he nodded. How could he deny it...there was such blunt and obvious evidence set against him...but somewhere in his gut it felt wrong. Things just weren't adding up in Ruune's head, but then again he didn't have too much time to think only act.

"Guilty. You confess that you're responsible for the death of Ms. Kron?"

Another nod...and what felt like another lie, though it had to be true. It was the only thing that made sense.

A hum came from the judge and the court room was a buzz with chatter again.

"Never figured he was the type."

"He always seemed like such a sweet child."

"It's always the quiet ones."

"It runs in the family...on the mother's side I think."

"Poor Aheal...his family had been through so much...and now this."

"Always felt like one of them would turn out like the other Noel."

"Shush, we're not supposed to speak of her."

The judge banged the gavel on the wooden stand in front of him.

"Quiet in the court," The man ordered, the room thankfully falling hush once again, "Ruune Nimparon, you've admitted to the murder of Ashley Kron and have nothing to say in your own defense...it is a shame to see one so young commit the ultimate sin...and it is a shame to send children to fall. The law is the law, though, and it is how it has always been, and how it will always be. Because you are 17 you are spared the Rot so...Ruune Nimparon, son of Aheal Nimparon and the deceased Anya Nimparon, you are hereby stripped of your status, your family name, and your wings will be removed...You shall be thrown into the mortal realm as a Fallen."

Ruune let the judge's words sink in, and settle into an uncomfortable ball in the center of his chest...his wings twitched weakly. He felt bile rise up into his throat...he was half glad the threw up earlier, so at least he would be soiling the court room even further. He felt borderline dead inside...numb even...too numb to even cry.

"Now, as per tradition with any Fallen under the age of 18, the family may approach the defendant with their final words before his wings are cut and he is cast out."

Purple eyes widened...shit...he couldn't imagine what his father had to say to him...let alone his brother...with the emotions flowing through the link from his twin's side he could tell this was not going to pretty.

Aheal couldn't hardly listen to the agonizing silence. Could barely glance the others who eyed his son with such mockery, pity and disgust. If there were a way around it all, the man would take it with no hesitation. Plans to hide the fragile soon-to-be fallen was a heavy dilemma, albeit he settled for not doing so. First, Isaan would not feel as if there was any justice. Second, not only that, but the eldest and himself would be a target for the officials. Their number one suspect. The father had promised Anya, the twin's mother, that he'd protect them and that was already failed. The least he could do was protect one instead of neither.

With a glance over, Isaan frowned to his father. The man sure as hell gave no fucks about the trial. Pft... it was positive that the punishment for his dear brother was too much for their guardian to handle. Well, the law was the law. If one broke it, it had to be consequences. The older twin seemed to not understand why was Ruune so scared? Why Aheal was so worried? Not as if decapitation was happening. One should just accept their fate and move along.

"Ruune Nimparon, you've admitted to the murder of Ashley Kron and have nothing to say in your own defense...it is a shame to see one so young commit the ultimate sin...and it is a shame to send children to fall. The law is the law, though, and it is how it has always been, and how it will always be. Now, as per tradition with any Fallen under the age of 18, the family may approach the defendant with their final words before his wings are cut and he is cast out."

The father of the two speedily dashed to wrap the youngest's body in a hug. It would be the the last physical contact in a while. He could sense it. "Ruu, promise me that you'll be ok. That you will grow stronger to live amongst the mortal realm. Don't fail me as I have you. You have to tell me and keep this promise."

The sound of approaching steps had the Realm Officials' leader to release the smaller twin, green orbs staring to Isaan, hoping that hatred hadn't taken over his entire being. "Do be safe and become stronger as father has told you, because I'm hoping you'd die." He stated in a low whisper, turning to exit the capacity of the court room.

Ruune was stiff in the unexpected embrace from his father and because of the restraints there was no way he could return it. To be honest...with the lack of affection from his father growing up this was highly uncomfortable. The teen just mutely looked up at Aheal through tangled and matted white hair as he spoke.

"Ruu, promise me that you'll be ok. That you will grow stronger to live amongst the mortal realm. Don't fail me as I have you. You have to tell me and keep this promise."

Of course unrealistic expectations were forced upon him even now by his father. Honestly...he was hoping to die in the fall...but he wanted to buy his father a bit of comfort and nodded, still unable to answer verbally. A hollow promise...but he would go through with it if he survived...he would get stronger and live no matter how much he didn't really want to.

Ruune was somewhat thankful to be released from the somewhat awkward embrace, but stiffened once again when faced with his own twin brother. Isaan...he could feel the contempt coming off of him in waves. Mahogany met purple for a brief moment before Ruune broke the contact by looking downwards...and then his brother spoke.

"Do be safe and become stronger as father has told you, because I'm hoping you'd die."

A bitter laugh died in Ruune throat as he watched his family walk away, and out of the courtroom. 'Me too...,' He thought, unknowingly sending a message across the link that connected him and his twin.

Once his once family had left the courtroom unnamed officials walked in. They ushered the blood hungry crowd out of the room...clippings of minors were privet affairs, not public. The family could of stayed and watched if they wanted too, but it seemed as if Aheal and Isaan did not want to see the youngest Nimparon's wings be severed from his body.

The showy white appendages tipped in a light lavender were stretched out, and Ruune was forced to bend forward until his head was nearly at his knees. A lesser angel approached the unnamed official holding out the wings, holding out a glistening blade of silver, and blade stained with the blood of many Fallen Angels. It was said to be the same blade that in legends Michael used to sever Lucifer's wings from his sinful body, and cast him into hell. The Official took the hefty blade, and the lesser angel was now the one holding out the wings. Ruune squeezed his eyes shut as the blade was raised.

It was brought down on his left wing, and the sound of bones snapping and flesh taring could be heard, and the first sound since the trail began had slipped past Ruune's lips...a blood curtailing scream. Blood was gushing from the open wound and his back felt as if it was on fire. Another scream ripped it's way past his throat as the other wing was cut through, the feathered appendage joining the other on the floor of the court room. Blood glistened down his back and Ruune had finally let go of his last thread of consciousness, passing out from the intense pain that wracked his small body.

And with that Ruune Nimparon became Ruune the Fallen, and was cast out...bloodied wings the only piece of him left in the heavens beginning to disintegrate into a fine dust...which was a bit odd, considering the feathers usually turned black beforehand signalling the sins of the fallen were truly their's. The Officials didn't seem phased, and quickly cleaned up the mess, not even leaving a feather behind.

The judge frowned and stared at the scene blow him with a heaviness in his heart, but a familiar heaviness in his pocket...the law was the law, and that would never change...but how many times would he be presenting over the same trial for different young angels? How many children would be cast out of the only home they knew? How many would die? He did not know.
