GingerCake
- - - Updated - - - is there any news about chinese fans's reaction toward this calamity? They are just getting mad like us. :Red_fox5: Some of them suggested that the production team should move to Hong Kong or Taiwan, there are more opened to LGBT, and the government and regulation there are different. HK and TW are both having their own laws and policies. The people there can access to FB, YT, Twitter etc. freely. The Addicted FB page with around 20k fans is actually created by Taiwan fans. And I think they are trying to approached CJD and the sponsors for some events. Another thing is HK and TW filming & entertainment industries are quite well-developed & having notably influential around the mandarin-speaking market. So, it's still a good choice if they can going there.
godlike
paper sisters n brothers, just found this interesting stuff!! :Jumping around:one of the most funded kickstarter campaign was actually a movie. cheetah13 the campaign was done after a tv series called Veronica Mars that ran from 2004-2007 was cancelled. because the show was done with amazing performance by the stars and nearly perfect writing scripts, there was this one guy known as Marshmallow, a diehardfan; conducted the campaign together with a guy (forget his name) and the series star, Kristin Bell bcoz they wish, they can see it again on the screen. the initial goal was $200,000. but at the end of the day they managed to raised around $5.7 millions!!!! :leaf13:and the movie released succesfully on March, 2014.... dont u guys think Chai Jidan & crew shud giv this a shot.??? this could be our new hope. btw, is $5 millions is enough to fund a drama series?? cloudy_days
Tbh I think the best way to support them at this point is to watch the show on the official Youtube channels and to buy the DVD when it comes out. I don't think they're at the point where they need to get money from fans (I also don't think kickstarter and other similar sites are that popular in China, but I might be wrong). CJD already said there will definitely be a season 2, so just believe that they have the capabilities to fulfill that promise. I really don't think we need to worry too much. I'm sure they'll find sponsors in March. Just help boost the DVD sales when the time comes. ^^ In terms of moving production to HK/TW, if I were CJD, that would be a last resort for me. The story and overall atmosphere is so deeply connected with Beijing (in my opinion). I'd love that too, but I heard it's very difficult to understand unless you're from Beijing. I've seen them posting novel parts on weibo and asked for clarifications. Although they did translate some parts here and there but I prefer to read the whole novel in one go! Yeah, a lot of local Beijing phrases/sayings were used in the novel if I remember correctly (good thing my parents are from there, so I got most of it lol). Not only that but I found that there were a lot of jokes, phrases, idioms, and play on words that don't really have an English equivalent so translation-wise, I found this novel to be a lot more difficult than others. This is actually interesting... I never knew how kickstarter is a successful method. I don't think production team even need that much money!! Though, NO IDEA how much it would cost. They might drop her later on to avoid legal troubles. So I think she would need some financial support anyway! Come on, DVD sales, come sooner! I am not familiar at all with the currents in China, what it would mean for them..for their future, if they should film a second 2 even with the SARFT trouble...if they would be put on some kind of "black list" / "banned list*...or because of the fear of this..they decide not to partake in a second season.:8onion74:

I only got chunks of info out of this virtual mess. haha Why was the show taken down for inspection? What's wrong with the kiss and how did it end with a takedown? I don't really understand anybody. So many CN movies and BL series have kissing scenes/sex scenes, what's wrong with this one? Somebody said something about an the uncut and cut version and the kissing scene being responsible for the mess.. ugh, i don't get it. Please, somebody summarize what happened and why! Thank you! Zeh
There's two rumors being spread at the moment and I'm not sure which of them is the truth. The other rumor I also heard is that it was taken down due to copyright issue not due to inspection. Someone (or some station) brought the right to the series and it was taken off the sites until they sort out the copyright issue. I think since there is no official confirmation on any of these rumors, we all need to chill and wait for the official word.

Somebody said something about an the uncut and cut version and the kissing scene being responsible for the mess.. ugh, i don't get it. Please, somebody summarize what happened and why! Thank you! Ok to make this story short and sweet. When that episode where they were supposed to kiss, Episode 11 came to broadcast. They cut these scenes out and chinese fans were furious and reacted strongly about it so one of the investors put up the uncut version on youtube, and they knew how to bypass security to view these videos, (via proxy or VPN or mobile device) and they poured these screenshots, gifs, images, etc everywhere. To keep the viewers. Then all the sudden, this.... We don't know if that uncut version was a direct cause or not. But.... it's obvious the government is feeling threatened. They took down all the videos from the broadcasting sources, such as bilibili, soku, qq, etc. Now they're broadcasting on YT. Again, I'll say this- We DON'T know if the uncut version was responsible for this mess. And Gingercake said they are being quiet for some reason. I know before, CJD refused to declare any news, such as season 2 on weibo because of the regulation agencies. We are still waiting for official news. I had a talk with Please Register/ Sign In, in order to see the links. and we agreed that it is because of this drama's success. And it's scaring them. Because it is being so successful with hits and the viewers rate skyrocketed so fast, even within the first few weeks. Including this thread which has gone further than other threads ever before. It averaged more than 4,000 views a night. Now look! over 120,000 views. Not even two full months yet. This morning their TY channel had only 6,000 subscribes. Now it has 14,000 subscribes!! (KEEP IT UP, baby!!) They (govt.) probably feel intimidated, threatened, or worried that it'd be become a 'trend'. They underestimated this series. They probably thought it was like the previous CN BL but Addicted definitely has more fans than these combined! I guess right now, they are trying to figure out the best outputs to broadcast while they're sorting this out. I can see where you came from with this argument and indeed, Addicted is very successful to the point of attracting common crowd who usually are not interested in BL drama (well, me included!). However, I hope that the Chinese govt does not take this case too seriously since govt can do terrible things against what they perceived as "subversive movement". Sorry for being grim here, but that's how politics work, maybe especially in China which put cultural integrity (and maybe homogenity?) at high priority? On a lighter note: there is no chance other BL products will be this successful unless the drama/series/movies hire actors as gorgeous and talented as Johnny and Zhouzhou! LOL.
