Tacita_Virtus
It was dark. But then again, it always was. There may have been light shining outside, but it was not enough to obliterate the darkness that was felt deep within. No ray of sunshine could reach in to the depths of the soul that was so overridden with shadows, writhing and frailing like the slim body of a serpentine creature. However, as dark as the inside was, all of this was hidden by a glowing radiance that shone much like the sun hanging high up in the beautiful blue sky. It was a mask of perfection, not even those close enough could sense that anything was wrong. But, this was not how it was wished to be. Not at all. Casimir Aleksander Mordec wanted people to realize the pain that he was hiding away inside of him. But if they were too blind to see it for themselves, then he was not going to even bother with speaking up and pointing out that there was something wrong with himself. Why bother, if they could not tell that he was so sad, so lonely, so uncaring about the pit that only seemed to grow every day within his soul, obliterating every good thought, every happy memory, and leaving behind only pain? There was no reason for him to go out of his way, because as much as he wanted others to notice, he also did not care. If he was to fall away in to the shadows, then that was fate, and there was nothing he was going to do about it. As much as he knew his parents thought he was just lonely, and trying to quell that loneliness with some sort of compainion as they called those people, that was not what he wanted. If he were to choose, then he wanted a friend. Someone he liked, not someone whom his mother and father deemed suitable for him. No, if he were to pick out anybody, it would be his brother. But as much as he wanted to do that, he could not. Since his brother was deceased, long gone, no longer coming back. So, since no person could ever replace him...than Casimir wanted no one. Nobody could take his brother's place. Ever. But that did not mean his parents gave up, no matter how many times he rejected the people they chose. They would always find another one to try again. Kicking a rock and watching as it soared through the air, then bounced on the ground, he sighs softly to himself. It had actually been a while since his mother and father had chosen a new compaion-to-be, and wondered if they had finally decided that it was no use, and had decided to let him be. Though, that note that he'd gotten earlier in the day stated otherwise, though they had not actually outright told him they had found another, they just wished to talk to him, or that was what the letter had said anyways. He knew that it was getting to be around that time he was supposed to go and see them, but he did not want to go back to the castle, no, not yet. Casimir wanted to be alone, and even though he knew that he was not supposed to leave the grounds, there wasn't any way that any of the castle tennants could try and stop him. Not his parents, not his maids, not even the guards. He did as he pleased. Glancing up at the sky, he sighs once more, stopping in his tracks and going to lean against one of the buildings that lined the road. Despite it being an era of easy living and in some places they had quite the high state of technology, where Casimir lived, it was still as it had always been. The streets and many of the houses made of stone, others made of brick. Horses and carts rattled up and down the pebbled roads, and street stall merchants lined the sides. The whole place was rather old fashioned, but he did not mind. In fact, Casimir rather liked this life. The air was clean, instead of poluted, the food tasted amazing due to such skilled farmers and cooks, and the entire city had a lively feel to it. Despite all that though, Casimir was still not completely happy. "I just wish...that some day...maybe, this loneliness will go away..." He murmurs softly to himself, closing his eyes and feeling the gentle breeze of the wind caress his cheeks, softly tugging at his black, wavy hair. The scent of fresh baked bread reached his nose, and the corner of his lips turn up ever so slightly, but quickly drop down once again. He'd forgotten how to smile, internally and externally. At least, he'd forgotten how to smile a real, genuine smile. He could fake them, make any believe that nothing was wrong, even woo others with his beautiful 'smile' but a real one? It had been quite some time since he'd done anything like that. Pushing off of the building, he walks up the road, deciding that maybe it was about time to head back home, and see what his parents wanted. If it was not something to do with a companion, he was more than sure that it was something related to that topic, like how he needed to open up to others, allow them to get close. They could, even for the tiniest bit, see that he was sad. But that was all. Casimir was more than just sad though. He was blissfully ignorant to life, to love, to happiness. Beautifully incomplete. And as far as he was concerned, that was how he was always going to be. Bardock
CRASH!! Ritsuka Tanaka spun around when he heard the sound, and a look of utter exasperation came across his features when he saw the overturned carrying tray. Bowls were all over the floor, and what made it worse was they were all clean. A sheepish-looking waitress bit her nail as she stood by the mess, her blonde hair curling slightly, "Sorry..." "Alex... Alex, Alex..." Ritsuka placed both hands on her shoulders and then let out a small cry, "WHY on opening night?" Alex gave a small smile, knowing that Ritsuka wasn't actually mad at her, "I'm sorry.. but this guy keeps grabbing my butt and I came here to tell you and.." she extends her arms outwards, letting out a "whoosh" sound. Ritsuka laughed softly, and shook his head, making his black hair shake side to side, "Well if you'd stop shaking it, maybe he'll stop grabbing it." Ritsuka tapped the female on the cheek before he turned on his heels and started to walk away. Before he was out of earshot, he called back, "And if that doesn't work, tell him the harlots walk at midnight and there's no early bird special." Ritsuka then opened the doors to the coffee shop, leading to the front room. It was packed, which was great for opening day. He smiled at his employees, working hard to make sure every order was taken, prepared with care, and made according to the buyers demands. Customers clamored on, speaking above the buzz of every other gossiper that raided mocha coffees. Ritsuka made his way through the crowd until he saw another waitress quickly striding up to Ritsuka. She looked more ruffled than the skirt she wore, which came down to about the knee but frilled out to give the illusion it may be shorter. Ritsuka nodded, "Amber, what's the matter?" Amber looked somewhat frightened, and she held in her hand a ticket, "I can't find the table! It says number 21 but there's only 12!!" Ritsuka looked from the ticket back to her a few times before he slowly reached up, taking the paper from her. Ritsuka then flipped the paper around, so that the number read '12' and slipped it back into her hand. Amber stared for a few minutes, her hand shaking slightly. When the paper was slipped, flipped, and put back into her hand, she finally took a breath, "Ohh!" A moment later, she turned and walked towards the table she'd been looking for. Ritsuka let out a laugh, shaking his head, "Dumber than a box of nails, but at least she looks good in those jeans."
Tacita_Virtus
His footsteps were slow, as Casimir truly did not want to head back to the palace just yet. He'd rather stick around where he was, alone, without having some sort of old or rather older person hovering over his shoulder, as he tried to study. It was obnoxious what they put him through, what they did, and if he could have his way, he would just go without it. What was the point in all of these pointless studies? Some he knew that he'd need later in life, when he took over the city, but some of the other things he was forced to memorize...well, that just got to him. It was annoying, and a complete pain in the neck. Shaking his head as he walked, he looks around him as he took his slow steps back home. Wondering if there was anything interesting lately. Any new shops that he could take a look into, or people whom he thought looked interesting. Though, even if there were any of those things, knowing himself...he'd just keep on walking. Only if he is approached does Casimir even try with conversation, if no one talks to him first, then that is that, and he leaves it that way. Why try to get to know someone when in the end he'll probably just end up losing them anyways? His eyes glance to the side, and his attention was caught by a new coffee shop that he'd never seen before. It looked rather new, and it was bustling inside. Casimir pauses in his footsteps, looking in the building through the glass windows. The scent of several types of coffee wafted outside as the door opened and a customer left, reaching his nose. It smelled wonderful, and he noticed a particular one that he was actually quite fond of, and haven't had in quite some time. The chef that made the coffee for him all the time had recently passed away, and none of the other cooks could get it quite right. So, he'd given up on it. As he stood there, one of the waitresses notices him looking in, her eyes growing wide. Nudging another waitress who had passed her, she points out the window, not very discreetly, at him, and the second waitress looks too. Apparently they were avid fans of his, because not a second later they look at each other and big smiles form on their faces, before, as he could not hear but guess, they start giggling. Going back to what they were doing, they kept glancing out the window at him, making him feel a bit awkward. This was the sign for him to leave. Deciding that it would be best not to just stand there and cause a scene because of a bunch of gawking girls, as some of the customers had looked when the waitress pointed out the window. However, inside, a third waitress, having seen Casimir looking at the shop, goes to find the owner. "Sir, you will never guess who was just here. Well, they didn't come inside...but...maybe it would be best if you go look for yourself? Maybe if you invite them in...then we'll get more customers." If the owner (Ritsuka) asked who it was, she would just smile and shake her head, giving him a cheeky wink. "It's a surprise." She then walks away, taking an order for the next customer. Even though he went to walk away, Casimir still kept that slow steady pace, mind wandering everywhere, from what he was going to do later, to what his parents wanted to talk about. That particular topic was starting to get to him, and he dreaded getting back only to hear more of the usual drivel about him trying to open up to someone. That was starting to get rather old in his opinion.
Bardock
Ritsuka paused as his other female waitress approached him, saying that someone was outside the shop, and said he'd never guess who it was. He was standing on top a table, his hands on one of the light fixtures to hold it steady. He watched her, and a soft smile played over his lips, "Oh? Is it someone I Know?" Ritsuka glances at this girl as she nodded her head. "Someone famous?" She nodded again, then stopped, as if she were thinking about something, and proceeded to shake her head no Ritsuka laughed, "Okay.. someone we know, but isn't famous. Well known?" She nodded her head again, her smile growing bigger. Ritsuka smiled as the light turned on and he stepped backwards, grunting as he hit the ground on his feet, "Oprah?" The look on this girl was priceless. Her face squished up a little on one side, giving Ritsuka a look that said he was an idiot. Ritsuka laughed again, "Okay, I give! Who is it?" Upon moving the chair back with the table, Ritsuka's eyes looked up, the violet irises gleaming in curiosity as the waitress said ut was a surprise, that he needed to look for himself. Ritsuka leaned up, smiling wider as he slowly made his way over towards the front of the building. Ritsuka raised a brow at the other two giggling females staring out the window. Upon clearing His Throat, the two girls jumped, turned, and hurried away after apologizing. Ritsuka chuckled, his arms over his chest before he looked out. He caught a glimpse of black.. or was that the shadow? Ritsuka moved, trying to see who it was. The guy moved slowly.. purposely down and almost past the shop. Ritsuka smiled, grabbing the front door and pulling it open. "Leaving so soon, Sir Casimir Aleksander?" Ritsuka's voice resonated into the warm sunlight. If one looked closely, it almost seemed as if his eyes were changing color in the rays of sun. He smiled warmly, moving backwards so the door opened further, as if inviting him inside, "I would have hoped you would enjoy a cup of coffee.. maybe wish a new business owner some luck?" Tacita_Virtus
As it so happened to be, Casimir hadn't gotten very far when the sound of the jingling bell to the new coffee shop reaches his ear, signalling the door had been opened. However, he doesn't stop walking until he hears a voice call out. Speaking directly to him, it was a male's voice. Pausing in his footsteps, Casimir glances back over his shoulder, seeing who he could only be the owner of the shop standing there, holding the door open, inviting him to come inside. Offering him a cup of coffee. The prince couldn't help himself, and a faint, but still rather handsome smile, forms upon his lips. His blue eyes twinkling. This would be a rather good excuse for him not to have to head home for a bit longer. And to pass up an opportunity like this one would be quite foolish indeed. Turning on his heel, to face the shop once again, and the owner. Walking towards them, pausing as he was passing the door and the man holding it, the smile growing upon his face. He then speaks up, and his voice was just as handsome and charming as how he looked in appearance. "I think I'll take up your offer. Good luck on the new business. If your coffee is anything as good tasting as it smells...I'm sure you will do just fine." He lightly pats the man on his shoulder, before entering the building completely. Looking around, taking in the scent of the warm beverages that were being served. It was an amazing aroma, something that he would never tire of. However, what he could do less with were the giggling girls and the stares that he was getting from both customer and employee alike as his eyes gazed around the room. Surveying it, and, as quaint as it was, he was liking what he was seeing so far. Eventually, not taking much time to do so, he allows himself to be seated, preferably at a table where he could enjoy his drink without goggling females staring and watching every move that he made. Since he was the prince, he knew that it would only be courteous for the manager himself to serve him. He would not accept any less. Even though a menu sat in front of him, he does not pick it up. Deciding to test the competence of the coffee shop. Speaking up again, looking to the manager, he smiles that charming smile of his again. "Well, Mr. Manager, I'd like a Café del Tiempo. Can you do that for me?" Smiling, eyes fixated on the man standing there, he waits, head slightly tilted to the side, wondering if the man could do and give what he, Casimir, had requested. What he'd requested was a rather unique drink, and you had to get it just right to make it taste any good at all. The best he'd tasted was from his past chef, and ever since he couldn't find a person that could make it better. Or even equal. So it would be nice to find another who could make one of his favorite drinks without botching it up. Reaching up and running his fingers through his hair, the locks falling back to place against his head, he waits there quietly, all the while with that smile upon his face. Enjoying the atmosphere around him, and not letting his mind wander. Knowing all too well that he would probably get into a little bit of trouble because of being so late when he was supposed to be at the castle talking to his mother and father nearly a whole hour ago. Oh well...they would just have to deal with it. He wasn't one to really give too many thoughts about breaking a few rules here and there.
Bardock
Ritsuka's eyes gleamed as soon as Casimir turned, and took his greeting and offer with welcome arms. Ritsuka followed him to a seat, leaning over yhe back of another chair before he spoke again. Upon the handsome prince's request of a Cafe del Tiempo, this particular store owner nodded his head, allowing it to tilt just barely, "Of course.. I'll be right back." Ritsuka turned to walk away. As he passed a couple of gawking employees, Ritsuka made a slight hissing noise, as if warning them to get back to work. The two scurried off as his barista approached Ritsuka, "Okay.. what does he want?" Ritsuka leaned over, pulling out a shaker bottle, and a glass before he turned to the cold well, "A Tiempo." His barista smiled largely, "Great! Tiempo's are somewhat difficult but I mastered it." Ritsuka glanced up as he got out the creamer and a lemon slice, "No.." Ritsuka then poured the hot coffee in the shaker after filling the shaker with ice, "Most people think I just run the place. That I don't know how to make any kind of coffee. He's a big deal and I wanna impress him." Ritsuka tossed in the lemon slice and poured The Creamer on top before he placed the lid on the shaker. One hand grasped the spill-free shaker and the glass. He shook the shaker while walking back towards Casimir's spot. As he placed the glass on the table in front of him, still cold to the touch, he opened the shaker and started to pour the drink in the glass, "One Cafe del Tiempo..." Tacita_Virtus
As he sat there waiting for the drink to be delivered to him, Casimir took the opportunity to look around a bit more, from where he was sitting of course. His eyes gaze around the area that surrounded him, seeing that it was quite clean, but that was a given, considered it was a new place. Cleanliness was always a good thing, in any situation or placement setting. Something he'd learned in his studies. It was interesting how he could put his lessons to use in such a place like this. Clasping his hands on top of the table, he took note of the service, that the women whom he observed did a fine job at taking care of the customers that were waiting for them, that they were prompt and kind. Another plus. Good customer service was one of the key ingredients to a successful business. It was a good lay out as well, where the tables and chairs were placed, plenty of space to move and enough privacy if needed or wanted. His checklist near complete, he looks up when the manager returns, with the drink in hand. A smirk on his lips and his eyes focused on what the man was doing, picking up the glass when the man spoke, saying the name of the drink. Lifting the glass to his lips, he didn't take a drink right away, instead let his nose take a whiff of the drink inside. The subtle scent of lemon, not too strong but just right. The faint aroma of vanilla. Perfect. Only then does he take a sip, letting it roll to the back of his mouth, the creamer to coffee ration just right. It was chilled, but not too cold that he couldn't drink it. Setting the cup down, he closes his eyes slightly, silent for what seemed like eternity. Before raising his gaze to the manager. A faint smile growing on his lips, and a glint in his eyes. Taking a deep breath, he lets it out slowly before speaking up, focusing on the face of the man who stood there. "While I must say that I do enjoy the coffee that my past chef made for me...I can tell you one thing for certain." He pauses, taking another drink, for dramatic effect. Sometimes he thought he had a bit too much fun doing this sort of thing. Making someone anxious with what he was going to say, having them on edge. Seeing their eyes grow wide, or see their body tense up, waiting. Wondering. Were they good enough, had they done the right thing? Or had they done wrong? What was it? What was the prince going to say? Setting the cup down again, he then speaks. "I look forward to seeing how well your other drinks might taste. You did quite splendidly. Thank you for the magnificent drink." He smiles widely now, perfectly white teeth glinting, and his eyes sparkle softly. A chuckle could be heard from the back of his throat, as he saw someone standing at the edge get a happy look on their face, glad that the manager had done well. Picking up the cup, he begins to drink again, and when he had finished, places the empty cup down, before placing a bit of money on the table, more than enough to not only pay for the drink he'd had, but could easily have paid for almost five more of them. Then, he stands up, straightening his jacket. "I really must be going now. Good luck on your new business. I'm sure you will have no trouble at all in being successful." Bardock
It was almost torture... Here Ritsuka stood, nearly on the edge of his... well, spot. He watched as Casimir purposely and slowly sipped the drink, taking his time before speaking. As Casimir's words rolled from the tip of his tongue, Ritsuka suddenly felt... odd. He could feel a heat come over his cheeks, and his stomach tightened up in a knot. His hands, normally smooth to the touch suddenly clammed up and his knees felt a little like jelly. Ritsuka had to clasp a hand on the back of a chair so hard, his knuckles turned white in order not to collapse. Alex, one of his best waitresses, and close friend, waited anxiously for any kind of response from the powerful prince. She noted the slight blush on her managers face, and she grinned, knowing she would give him hell for it later. Once Prince Casimir spoke, first complimenting the drink, then Ritsuka himself, she felt her smile grow wider. Alex couldn't help herself as she did a happy dance, excited and proud her boss did a great job. Her arms in the air and her hips swayed side to side as she slowky circled, now in her own little, happy dancing world. Ritsuka couldn't Help To Glance from Casimir to Alex, and when she did her "happy dance", as she liked to call it, Ritsuka's eyes widened slightly. The blush deepened as he softly said her name. Casimir had just complimented his drink, and was preparing to leave as Ritsuka hissed her name not once, but two more times before she finally came to a halt. Her face flushed before she giggled, curtsied, and left the area quickly. Ritsuka shook his head, nodding to Casimir, "I apologize.. She's a little quirkish, but I love her as a business partner. Thank you for coming in. Feel free to stop in and.. have a drink." Ritsuka smiled again, but as he leaned harder on the chair that supported him, it suddenly slipped and Ritsuka went down like a sack of bricks. Just as quickly, Ritsuka got back on his feet, his face fighting a blush as he brushed himself off and nodded just once, "I'm okay."
