Every little thing that Hotaru did was humiliating in its own little way. Who knew that a simple movement could make someone feel so ashamed. He felt guilty for taking the collar off. A simple collar put him in this kind of position. What did he do to deserve this? He scared Hotaru a little bit? How much did he need to say he was sorry to get the other to listen? None. The older vampire wasn't going to listen, that was obvious. Akito was being punished for being bad. He knew better, he knew in the back of his mind that taking off the collar could possibly cause something like this. He overlooked it, he was sure it would've been fine. It wasn't though, that was pretty clear. He was accepting the punishment so willingly even though he didn't believe he necessarily did anything wrong. He would just take it, even if he hated it... or not. That wasn't the case either, he didn't hate it, it didn't mean he liked it the best either. He didn't hate it though.

Akito signed a bit in pleasure when his neck was being bit, even though the fangs didn't pierce the skin. It was a new kind of feelings, a good one at that. He hushed himself after the one sigh, his eyes shutting tighter as he felt the teasing touch in his lower area. He was angered when he heard the other speak about the attention. No, he didn't want it. Everything he said he wanted to take back, Hotaru wouldn't let that happen however. He never let anything go, well, almost everything. The newborn always regretted everything he said, hearing something he had said before only brought back that regret much more than before. That stupid collar. Did he actually say that about the collar? It sounds like a thing he wouldn't say, he probably did bough. He surprised himself from all the things he was saying himself recently.

Everything that was said, Akito had to push the urge to just cover his ears and plug it out. He didn't like it when the other said the truth, knowing he was right. The newborn hated how he had to try and deny it, knowing that they both knew he liked this. The movements of Hotaru's hand caused his hands to ball up into fists, retaraining himself from ripping the hand away from his crotch. He didn't want to be touched right now, then it would show how much he was actually enjoying this. "No," he snapped, grabbing the wrist, pulling it far away from reach. The no wasn't meant to saying the words that Hotaru wanted to hear, he was gladly willing to say them. The no was to many things, the entire situation. "I won't take off the collar when I leave on my own again." He was trying to make up for going against the other just then, though it wasn't much for him to make up for.

No cover up could hide that Akito just disobeyed him right then and there, his voice was in a snap again and he pushed his touch away, signs he was bothered, annoyed, uncomfortable or two of those or all three. Hotaru felt a pang in his chest, one tellin him he should stop and try to be reasonable and make up. It was too late for that though wasn't it? He could realize that he was going overboard, reacting in a way with little rationale after being scared, see himself that he should have had more faith in the newborn, even if the collar was removed... but what good would that do? It'd just show that he was weak, that the way his mind functioned was too much like a hazardous roller coaster that wasn't ever going to stop. Hotaru's mind always moved too fast for his own good. Decision making, reacting to things, his emotions, the way he feels about a certain topic, it all was on the same road, but the terrain was too rocky for anyone normal to go down. The vampire could try and control the things around him as best as he could. He couldn't control himself half the time though. Choking Akito on the first day. Getting him off as well as himself next. Biting open his wrist to upset the newborn. It went on and on and it would continue on like that. He had no control over what happened inside of his heart and his cracked mind, he wish he did. He always did.

Sucking his teeth the vampire scolded back, after a hesitant silence of staring at Akito's face, "Nice telling me that after what you just did..." He grabbed Akito's hand forcefully and brought it to his dick, forcing him to take it into his hand now, "No is what you told me. So how about you do this with me then if you have some kind of issue." Hotaru wrapped his hand on his and started to stroke him off, technically doing it indirectly because he was using Akito's own hand to do it instead. "You never really touched yourself, you made that obvious. Doing it together feels better does it? There's so much blood rushing to your face, Akito, yet, your hand is still so warm~" And yeah... his hand was really warm. Hotaru didn't say it, but when the newborn would touch him, his cheek or his head, he felt so content, so calm. It was really something that he didn't want to lose and a reason why he didn't want to feel threatened by his lack of presence again. Looking down, Hotaru's eyebrows furrowed, muttering, "I just want you to enjoy it, Akito. I want to make you happy for once. Do not push me away again..."

His demand was still an order, but there was a sprinkle of plea in his wording. What he was doing was punishment... And an attempt to make him satisfied with being here. And a way to get himself to think doing all of this would make Akito stay. It was too many things at once and Hotaru didn't want to start thinking about it whatsoever. The vampire's neck bend down to the other's check licking over his nipple and teasing around it with the tip of his tongue with his eyes closed. So close to him, smelling his scent was so easy, filling the vampire's sensitive nose as he suckled the nipple, his nose faintly nuzzling on his chest as he did so. He really didn't want to be pushed away another time. Hotaru didn't know what would start passing through his mind if it did.

Hotaru was just plain evil on the eye's of the newborn at the moment. Akito didn't want to be touched, at all. Even if it was his own hand, he wanted nothing to do with touching. Especially when it cale down to it being in this kind of situation. He tried to resist his hand being brought towards his length, even though he did, his strength didn't even match to Hotaru's. Before the newborn even got the chance to remove his hand, Hotaru had his firmly wrapped around, forcing the brunette to stroke himself off. Akito was ready to pry the unwanted hand away, affected by the talking Hotaru was doing. Which was unusual for him now, he was used to it, it never bothered him that much. He couldn't tell if it was because he was in this kind of situation or it was something else, but he really hated hearing it. It was like chalkboards being scratched with nails, he really didn't want to deal with it, at all.

The newborn's breath was unsteady, his face reddened, like he was melting in his own hand, literally. Hotaru was right, it really was warm with having the two hands rubbing together. This is why the brunette wanted to stop it, he didn't want hear the truth of the situation. It just meant that he was completely giving in again. Right when he was about to pry the hand away, Hotaru spoke once more. He paused. If he really wanted to make Akito happy, this was not the way. Now he was just being made to look weak and vulnerable, he was being shamed. He let a small moan out when the tongue came in contact with his nipple, his entire body tensing, he didn't like this. He dropped his head, pursing his lips tight together, keeping himself from making anymore sounds. He didn't want to look like a fool anymore than he already did.

"S-Stop... Ho-taru," he breathed out, resisting the urged to push him away. The raven haired demanded not to be pushed away again, so Akito wouldn't do so. He would still resist by words if he could, he was so against this, hating it so much. Even if it wasn't that big of a deal. It felt good, too good for comfort. He was completely okay when the other decided to get him off with his mouth, this was different. It was no longer just Hotaru getting him off, he was being forced to do it to himself as well. "N-No..." He tried to tug his hand away, it didn't budge. Unless Hotaru let go, his hand wasn't going to be removed. This was embarrassing, he just wanted it to stop. He needed everything to just stop. It felt like the world was moving too fast, spinning in so many circles at once. He just needed to lay down, yeah, laying down would help a lot. "P-Pl-ease... haah let g-ooh..."

  • 2 weeks later...

The embarrassment stricken across Akito was becoming a lot more prominent with the two of their hands on top of his dick. Shame was a rare thing with Hotaru and he wondered how it must feel to be in Akito's situation... Wondering didn't mean he wanted it ever to happen though. If it were him there, Hotaru would most definitely fight back and win. He would never ever let someone be so controlling over him and look like this. Akito might be thinking he was going to have a panic attack from his heart racing, the blood all going into his face and to the tips of his ears. Hotaru has never looked like that, and he never would because of two reasons. He doesn't give anyone the upper hand. And seeing someone crumble this way was so much better. He never was any different, not even when he was first starting out with men... Akito just wasn't like him at all. Stern. Serious. Always trying to be collective... All the more reason why seeing the man become like this was enjoyable.

"You don't want me to let go," he muttered ever so smoothly, "Well. This part of you doesn't want me to let go. So I won't. It likes the attention, just like you do. And the more you speak like that, the more it makes me wish I allowed you more contact than this... Did you know that?" He scoffed, moving their hands up and down his shaft faster, "Probably not because you're too engrossed in yourself and all you an think about is how good it feels to have that heat down there get hotter and hotter... Or maybe you keep trying to tell yourself you don't like it. But how come your dick has become like this? Its this hard and you've already got some of your stuff coming out just from this. And look at your face. That might be my favorite part because you can't hide it." He have a short chuckle and then gave the man's chest another suckle.

He enjoyed all of these reactions, but the true piece de resistance was his face and he was starting to want to give himself the luxury of getting more of it. His suckles and licks to his nipple continued for a little bit longer to rile up the newborn vampire, his lips playing a more lazy, slow job at trailing up his neck again. When they reached the highest point he'd go, which was right under the other's chin, he pulled his head back and lifted his hand up to go behind Akito's head, touching the soft hair at the nape of his neck as he tilted his head to face him directly. Their faces were very close to each other, Hotaru swearing he could literally feel the heat coming off of his face. And... it was true that maybe he was too close. But he wanted to see his face. Akito wanted attention. He was getting it on high concentrate. "Don't you want to cum, Akito?" He asked, his head tilting slightly, his wind of his words being so close that each one kissed the other's lips, "Just say so. Tell Hotaru you want to help you cum like this."

At some point, Akito knew he wasn't always going to be obedient for Hotaru. At times, even dogs don't do as their masters say. If he really wanted to, he could up even more of a fuss to make the other stop, the only worry was the reaction if he did. The newborn didn't want to set the older vampire off anymore then he already did. He left the house without the collar, it was a small mistake in his eyes. Hotaru clearly saw it in a different light. That collar was their symbol of trust and the newborn had to go and destroy it. For that, the brunette was extremely sorry. That didn't mean he needed to put up with everything Hotaru decided to do on a whim. The newborn was trying to be good and follow the directions, it was hard to push away the inner conflict of wanting it to stop so badly. Hearing the other continue to speak only made him want to end this sooner. Just because he was having this reaction didn't mean he truly like it. It felt good, really good, he still hated when it was happening. It would be a lot better for him if they didn't just have the whole collar issue, this was a punishment, not a reward.

"I said stop! I meant it!" Once again, that snap returned as he used his free hand to pry he older vampire's hand off of his own. Once he finally had freed his hand, he rubbed it, looking away from Hotaru. This wasn't pushing him away per say, he was just getting what he wanted for once. That happened to be making the touching stop. It just felt too wrong for him in this kind of moment in time. Akito did bad, now the other was punishing him. He couldn't help but link it to everything as a punishment. He knew Hotaru wanted to see him crumble under the desires and lust he held, this could've just been a trick to lead to such a thing. "I didn't... I didn't like it. It felt good, I won't deny that. It doesn't mean I liked it." He spoke softly as he got up from the couch, making his way to the bathroom. He needed to finish himself off now, without having the older vampire around to tease him.

By the time Akito had gotten to the bathroom, he and stripped off any remaining clothes Hotaru didn't already take off of him. He was ashamed he had to do this, not really wanting to, it wasn't going to go down though, not from that much physical contact. He turned the water on hot, climbing in once he could see the steam. He leaned against the cold wall as his hand trailed to his member, beginning to get himself off. He bit into his forearm to prevent himself from making any sort of sound, his fangs piercing the skin. His hand moved faster as he closed his eyes, not wanting to focus on his own actions. It really was different when Hotaru touched him. A different feel in the fingers, the touches, everything. He never had done this with himself before, finding it to be a weird feeling at first, then it started to feel good. He would've preferred this to had not happened at all, it was his mistake though, he did leave without the collar. This was much more embarrassing than wearing a collar in public. He bit down into his arm harder until he came, slowly removing his fangs. Blood was washed down by the water, as well as the semen he had released. When did he become so dirty to actually touch himself? This was an answer he never wanted.

"fouchifnnhik"

Never forget.

It felt good but that doesn't mean I liked it...?

What's that even supposed to mean... Hotaru frowned when his hand was pushed away, the second rejection being the one he didn't want for his own reasons. He got that Akito wasn't used to this thing but he could have let him do this. He should have just let him do whatever he wanted, let him continue making him feel like he couldn't do anything about it without a fight, let him make him feel good. Why couldn't he have just given him that. And now he felt bad about it. The vampire looked down as Akito went off to the bathroom, balling his fists and planting his backside down on the cushion with his head lowered as well. This was punishment. How come I always end up losing these battles that don't even exist. Akito never fought against him, he never did anything intentionally to make him angry, he didn't even mean to make Hotaru panic when he left to go on his walk without the collar. Each and every time... It always was the same. Hotaru would tell himself something, then it would end up wrong and he'll feel bad. Yeah. He felt bad for doing something he really wanted to do from the beginning, but it didn't play out the same.

Akito was supposed to let him continue, then look at him, and then after an inner self crisis of pleasure, beg Hotaru to finish him off. That was the good end for them, both of them satisfied. Akito was doing great at the start, but he pushed him away and snapped at him, then did it again, and then he ran away. This was the bad end. ".... hah..." He sighed, getting up and retreating from the scene as well, though to his room, lugging his heavy heart with him. The thing is, if this had gone well, he wouldn't feel bad about this at all. He'd hold his head up high like the master he was. What was he doing now? He was feeling bad for what he did to his dog for something he felt he needed to give punishment for. Looking at himself in the mirror, he opened up his drawer and picked up a brush after moving some things around. His hair had gotten stiffer from running outside right after the shower. Looking at himself frowning as he brushed, he leaned closer and poked around at his face like he usually would to inspect for wrinkles.

Seeing no signs of age didn't even make him feel that much better. He knew he'd just have to... er.... apologize... right? But Akito might know that he wouldn't have felt bad if it turned out the other way around. He might not accept it. The vampire put his brush down and got some socks to put on for his cold toes, then went back out, sitting at the table and putting his head down, waiting for Akito to come out. Yeah, he'd apologize... But being there, he also wanted to know why he was so against being touched. And how come he didn't allow them to finish together. How much easier it would have been if Akito didn't run away... Or was the man actually that embarrassed? He waited there and didn't move until he heard the door of the bathroom open again. When he heard it creak open, the vampire got up and walked over to him, his frown looking less depressed and slightly more apologetic. "Uh... Hi." He said, which meant he wanted to talk.

The water began to turn cold from how long he had been in there, sighing as he finally got out of the shower, barely even finishing a proper cleaning. He grabbed a towel from one of the cabinets, quickly drying himself off. He should've tried to grab his pair of clothes that the other had stripped off of him, though he really didn't have time to worry about this. When he made his dash for the bathroom, the only thing on his mind was finish what Hotaru had started. Akito hated himself for feeling good during that kind of situation, for feeling good after he had ended it. He was trying so hard to convince himself, this wasn't what he really wanted. How can you do that when you know how into it you are? The only reason he adopted it was because it was a punishment. He didn't want a punishment that felt good, crumbling his every power he had inside. He wanted it to hurt so he could hate it, he wanted to feel pain so he wouldn't look so vulnerable. It had to feel good, pleasurable so that he would like it. That's not how he wanted it to turn out. He needed to find a way to have everything Hotaru did, the only way he was keeping his sanity.

Akito found that his arm was still bleeding from the bite, surprised it hadn't healed yet. He licked at his arm as he walked out of the bathroom, only to be confronted by his master. Wonderful. The expression on Hotaru's face almost made him feel bad, almost. This obviously meant the other wanted to talk, this was a pattern they followed quite often. Akito did bad, got punished, became reluctant and rude, and then the other apologized for it, made up for his wrong doing somehow. This was a pattern the newborn was tired of, having none of it today. He was tired of always being obedient for the other, only to have nothing but a lashing in return. It wasn't fair to him, not at all. He remained good and polite for Hotaru to avoid the punishments that he happened to just give. He wasn't expecting much from all he was giving, maybe just to be let up on at some point. Get the other off his back. Instead, it was feeling like the older vampire was taking advantage of how obedient his dog was. There was no reward at the end of the trick, no good boy, none. If there was, it was in a mocking way, one that tormented him. Enough.

Akito returned to lapping up the blood that continued to ooze from his wound, walking straight past the other, pushing him aside with his shoulder. Now Hotaru wanted to talk, not earlier, now. The newborn decided to welcome in this bad attitude that wanted to come out for awhile, ignoring his master's existence. He knew if that punishment turned out in the favor of older vampire, then he would shove the newborn's nose into it to make fun of him. Not this time. His head was held low, the apologetic look firing his face well. The younger vampire was flat out pissed, livid, on fire from the anger he was feeling. He did t care if he was acting like a prick for once, he was just giving to other a taste of his own medicine for once. He hoped this was slap the older vampire in the face with realization that if he was going to make Akito pay the time, he may as well do the crime. He was being accused of taking the other's care and abusing it. If that's what he wanted, so be it. If he wasn't trusted, he'd do something to make that untrustworthy person be made. He was going to earn the punishments, that way the other could feel better. At the same time, he'd learn, Akito wouldn't always be a pushover for him.

The newborn laid on the couch, continuing to lick the blood from the open wound. He should've healed by now, did he bite too deep? What was the issue? He had never had a wound stay on him for this long, usually his self healing was quick to work. He paid no mind to it, licking it until it had completely healed after awhile. He was surprised it had taken so long, at least it did heal instead of not healing at all. He wasn't in the mood to play doctor and bandage himself up. The newborn got up and picked up his articles of clothing for from the floor, putting on his shirt that had been rudely ripped off. Now he was finally clothed again. He laid back down on the couch, closing his eyes as she shifted to lay on his arm for more comfort. He was in no mood to play these stupid games with Hotaru, tired of everything the other did when he acted like such a good puppy. Did they just go unnoticed? This is exactly why he would change his attitude and behaviors, then the older vampire would miss how good his puppy used to be. No owner wanted to deal with a bad dog, this meant Hotaru was going to have a hell of a time with how troublesome he could become. His eyes opened, before he fell asleep, he had something to do. He sat up, unbuckling the collar, dropping it on the floor. Much better, now he didn't feel owned.

"Akito...?" Hotaru said the man's name quietly, shocked when he was brushed off like that. That wasn't even an accident either, it was purely intentional. The cold reply back, or rather the lack of a reply, was like a slap in the face he didn't expect either. Akito was supposed to come out of the shower refreshed and in a better mood and then Hotaru was going to apologize. Everything would have been good after that. All would be good in the world, haha.... Not even the smell of blood made his thoughts go away from Akito. It was teasing his nose, but... No, but why was he bleeding? He bit himself? Hotaru swallowed and followed after Akito, waiting him him to say "Yes, Hotaru, what is it?" "Hotaru, I'm ready to listen to you now." "Were you hoping to apologize? Yes, I'd love to hear it, but it better be genuine. He wasn't saying anything though. Uh oh. Following the man to the couch, he stood there blankly, unknowing of how to react to Akito suddenly acting in this way. A part of him still was waiting for him to say something, but those deep red eyes of his never met with Hotaru's once. Not once.

His problem was that he always wanted to be in control of the situation. He didn't like it when things didn't go his way because when things didn't, the vampire had little clue of how to put himself in a controlling position and make the problem go away. The control freak inside of him was always getting angry, always wanting something to be burned in his fire and to be satisfied. Hotaru kept slipping up though. Why? How come? It was so annoying to feel on top of the world and to have a loyal dog to be faithful and obedient, but then have that feeling taken away. He was annoyed now, but that became a sense of apology instead, which was a rare form. And even this apology was flawed since he was only sorry that his punishment wasn't completed. Because for some reason he thought that if it had been went through entirely, things would have been any better... But he would learn now. His dog was no longer willing to take his erratic behavior anymore... He wasn't going to take his shit.

The attention lover, Hotaru, didn't like this one bit. Being ignored was something he hated the most. He was sure he'd appreciate seeing the newborn look at him coldly rather than keep his eyes off him at all times, but now Akito even closed his eyes. W-What?!! Hotaru's eyes widened, tensing and keeping his lips shut. Taking a step closer, staring at the brunet, Akito, come on... Please don't do this... He gulped again, getting a pitiful grin on his face when he saw his eyes open again. Good, he would at least say something before he. He didn't care if it was a sentence or one word, as long as it was something directed at him. A word from Akito to Hotaru. Anything. Any... thing....... Plop! Went the collar.

Hotaru literally flinched seeing the other man tossing off his collar to the floor. Alright. Now... Now that was the real classification of taking off the collar like he didn't care about it. At least before, it had been left on the couch... as if it was sitting there, waiting for Akito to come back and put it on, exactly like how the newborn would wait for Hotaru to come back. O-Ouch. That stung badly. "Aki-chan...?" he really didn't know how this felt inside. Bad obviously. Its just... It really fucking hurt. Hotaru took a step back, looking around the room as if that was going to give him an answer of what to do. Hotaru couldn't really be mad because he was the one who upset him and he was going to be apologizing in the first place, he had nothing to defend himself with at all. His dominance and position on the tip of the pyramid in this house was being threatened big time. What was he to do? He had nothing on Akito and he wasn't even speaking to him, so what good would saying anything do?

Frowning and pouting with his concern still in his eyebrows, Hotaru stepped away towards the room, keeping his eyes on Akito just to see if he'd open his eyes. And even when he made it in the small hallway, he looked back again, seeing the man not having moved or even opened his eyes at all. He stared at him longer until he disappeared back into the room again, closing the door and standing there, blinking cluelessly from the new Akito that ignored him so well... Shaking his head, Hotaru went to bed where he laid down on Akito's side. Or the side he usually slept on, actually. He got himself snug under the covers and stared up at the ceiling. He was shaken up by the cold treatment, nor used to that whatsoever, especially from Aktio. His, supposed to be, loyal pet dog. It really made him unsettled. Hotaru liked to think positive when it looked bad, but not even in this case did he feel like Akito would be POOF normal again.

Sleeping in a black dream again, the vampire woke up the the room by himself, just the way it was when he went to bed. Hotaru took himself to his mirror and gave it a few brushes before tying the long half of his hair in his normal low ponytail, his eyes squinting at himself in the same way they had been squinting around at Akito before going to his room. Was he still going to be acting like that? Hotaru still wanted to apologize. He just wanted the newborn to be able to listen to him and talk back to him. Stepping out of the room with silent, sock covered feet, the older vampire peeked to the living room to see what Akito was up to... He's always sleeping... He walked over to the couch and crouched down when he got there, staring at the other's face for a long time before touching his shoulder and shaking him a little, "Akito? Its noon... Wake up? You want me to make, uh... breakfast?" A weird suggestion it was. But he wanted some kind of response, even if it was Akito growling at him to let him sleep, "Or would you like some blood?" He asked.

The bite in Akito's arm still wasn't clear to him, so he thought that somehow, maybe he could have been hungry...? But that made no sense. Hotaru didn't even think Akito finished getting himself off. He didn't think he was... the guy didn't know how to masturbate.

The dark red eyes shot open when Hotaru had mentioned blood, the actual meal that would fulfill his hunger and craving. He rubbed his eyes as he sat up, pushing strands of hair from his face. His days naturally went to Hotaru, only to force the to look at something else, such as his arm where he had bitten the night prior. It was unusual for the older vampire to bother him when he was sleeping, irked that the other had. He didn't exactly plan out his days, especially not of one of a rebellion. Now he had to figure out things to do to piss off the other, then he would feel they were even. Being accused of things he wants really doing only made the newborn more aggressive about doing this. Even he wasn't used to going on this kind of strike, it didn't mean he wouldn't. If the other wanted a bad dog to punish, Akito would fulfill that and earn each and every punishment he got, like a bad dog should. This good, obedient Akito was going to take a small vacation. The dog teaching his master a lesson, how hilarious.

The newborn grabbed Hotaru's arm, pulling it toward his mouth. His kept eye contact with the other as he slowly bit into the older vampire. He would look at the other, the brunette just didn't want to exchange any words yet. He was gentle about the bite, savoring the sweet blood that entered his mouth, clogging up his senses. The newborn stopped before the other needed to tell him to, taking just enough fill him up. He licked tenderly at the wound he had made on his forearm, kissing it gently. He was showing affection while being in a really bad mood, even he couldn't predict what he would do to the other sometimes. His dark red eyes never once looked away from the Rose red eyes that he met with the other. Even if he wanted to leave, he couldn't, he was addicted to this blood like the other had hoped. The sweet taste, the powerful aroma, Akito loved every bit of it. He felt odd that he couldn't really relay this at the moment. Instead he was supposed to keep quiet, not eve thanking the other for the meal. Even he wasn't used to this kind of attitude, it still felt amazing, like he finally gained some control that he wanted so desperately.

Akito got up from the couch, going into one of the bags, pulling out the sweater Hotaru had got him. He slipped it on, going to the front door and grabbing his shoes that he always so neatly set by it. He slipped them on, opening the door, not bother to look back at his master. "I'll be back later today, perhaps even tonight, I'll be back. Unless you don't trust me and want to come along. I don't care, just don't bother me," he said in a cold tone. There was nothing nice about what he said, even taking a stab at the older vampire when he stressed the word of trust. They both knew it was an underlying insult. Akito headed out the door, closing it gently behind him. He headed off in the direction of the library after looking at the apartment number and the street name. He still had yet to fully memorize the place where he now lived at. That was his home, Hotaru the person he was living with, who he was being completely dominated by. The newborn just needed to make it stop before he did something he regretted. This wasn't meant to upset the other too much, he just wanted to get his point across that he was done with it all.

The library was fairly close, entering inside the warm lobby, instantly warming him from the cold of the outside world. He went into the fiction genre, grabbing a war book before sitting in one of those comfy chairs, opening it up and beginning to read. When he needed comfort, books seemed to fill a gap inside him he needed fixed. He could live in a fantasy world when he read, not having to deal with his own life. It was laughable how the vampires acted in many of the supernatural books, completely different from real life vampires, like Hotaru. He was no Prince Charming with fangs, he was a demon half the time to Akito. Akito wasn't either, the complete opposite with his bad attitude and his quick to anger moments. Nothing like those vampires inside the books. Still, reading was the only thing that could truly ease his anger and calm him, filling him with peace as he felt the smooth paper between his fingers as he turned the page. This was a feeling he loved so much. It was started to dawn on him his guilty he was already feeling for treating Hotaru the way he was. Perhaps this was one of the worst ideas he's ever had.

Quite honestly, he didn't expect the newborn to wake up like that, the older vampire's eyes widening open a little more. But he only responded because he mentioned blood. So was he awake while he was looking at him? He was ignoring him again. Hotaru had no idea how sick Akito was of his actions, and all this time, he was afraid he'd run away from being annoyed so much.. No, this happened because he was annoyed so much. Hotaru was still sitting below him, but he sat up more, hoping to be able to talk with him now that he had gotten him awake. The way he was looked at still made Hotaru aware that not much has changed in the newborn since yesterday. And the next thing he knew, his arm was snatched up and taken to his mouth where he dug his fangs in slowly before he even had a chance to say anything. His eyes showed his discomofort, his frown doing the same, but he kept his eyes on the other too. He didn't know how needy he was to have the newborn look at him in general, finding his face getting a little hot from the cold stare he was getting. Watching the newborn lick and kiss his arm when he was done gave him shivers.

When his arm was let go he rubbed the area, standing up and wiping the kiss off on his cotton shirt. That totally wasn't a very "Akito" thing to do... Everything he's been doing since last night wasn't an Akito thing to do though. Because it was his fault. "... Youre going for another walk?" he mumbled looking at Akito and everything his was doing, following him to the door, his eyes begging to be given a little bit more attention before he went on a walk. And then he learned it wasn't going to be a walk.

"I'll be back later today." O-Oh... Okay? A long walk could be what he needs.

"Perhaps even tonight." Oh.... Where was he going? Why would he be gone for that long? Was he going to forget how to get back again? Though that must be why he wanted to drink from him, he wanted to be able to keep himself calm until he got back. Tonight.

"Unless you don't trust me and want to come along." Said in such a heartless tone, Hotaru was stuck, frozen where he stood with his eyes staring at Akito's back as he left. O-Okay, he understood he was upset, but come on!! He was actually starting to break his heart with this that he was being given. And being alone with no plans, this was already the shittiest Saturday in a long time. He did trust Akito. He did... He did, but he couldn't handle seeing him without a meaningless collar outside the house. No. That wasn't trust, it was just believing that a collar meant Akito would stay, when he should be taking in the fact the man has been nothing but obedient and, dare he say, caring too. He sure did abuse that didn't he? And the vampire hated animal abuse, so what was he doing? He was always just so worried.

For the day, Hotaru cleaned up a little, taking the collar that was left on the floor and but it on the table since it didn't belong on the floor... And if Akito came back and wanted to put it on... No he wasn't going to do that was he? Hotaru took the collar, rubbing the texture under his fingers as he took it to his room, leaving it in his drawer. If Akito wanted it back, then he'd either ask him or he'd risk going into his drawer to try and find it. Akito stated before he didn't want to know what was in his stuff. Sighing, he went through his drawer to look over his socks, his underwear, his toys and his pantsu. Nothing in his drawers would make him fill the Akito sized void in his heart. Why wont Akito even accept his apology? He wanted this over. He wanted his puppy's attention.

Very quickly, he was bored, taking the newborn's role for once. Alone and waiting. He wanted to die, thats how bored he was. He put on the television at one point, but the commercials were just putting him to sleep. Laying on the couch with his feet up on the coffee table, he fell asleep sad and lonely. And with a hand in his pants for some reason...? He was getting chilly sitting there, so his hand sought out refuge in the warmth of his underwear, that was all.

Time was moving fast, faster than it had in awhile for the newborn. Usually the days were long and painful, having to wait for his only source of entertainment to return. Now he had something to do. He never was allowed to do this kind of thing before, he never asked either. It was late, almost time for the library to close, he sighed, returning the books in their rightful places belts heading out. Did he really need to head home yet? How many times did Hotaru leave him wondering where he was until the next day? It was only a few, it was enough to cause him to panic. Because the other left him alone without telling him he was going to be gone, he panicked, ending up giving head to the other for attention. Though he wasn't thinking properly from the lack of food either. That didn't matter, he was left multiple times in a mood of panic and worry, waiting for his master to return. Maybe he shouldn't go back tonight at all. Sleeping on the streets wasn't so bad. No, he didn't need Hotaru to come look for him either.

Master, was that something he should even consider the older vampire to be? He was going against his master with everything he had, wanting to give him a slap in the face for eveyebrigj he was constantly given. What was he given? Punishments, scoldings, food, attention, care, and time. He had only two things that were bad, but they happened more often than the good. Was this rebel in him coming out just because he was being force to masturbate? No. It was the unneeded punishments half the time. Hell, Hotaru practically starved him to death, was that not punishment enough to last a century? The other had no idea how it felt to be on the brink of welcoming death, he knew nothing about how it felt. All Akito wanted to do was to make the other understand how unfair it was to punish him when he was good. Then it just made him bad.

Akito stayed out another hour or two, making sure to return home super late. He had a light fragrance on his clothes from the air fresheners at the library. Was he obligated to answer where he had gone? No, he stayed out of trouble, he didn't need to say anything to the vampire. He headed home, sighing bag the cool wind hit his face, causing him to start to shake. It didn't take long for him to reach the apartment building Hotaru lived at, finally remembering the direction of the house and key points he needed to see. Opening the door, he walked inside, closing the door and taking in the heat from the apartment. He slipped his shoes off, putting them neatly together. He saw the other was on the couch, damn, he didn't want to sleep in the bedroom. Right now, the smell of Hotaru was going to be his biggest enemy. This lack of attention was hurting him a lot, even if he was gaining control and power for once.

The newborn walked behind the couch, leaning down close to Hotaru's ear. "Hotaru~," he purred softly, his hot breath hitting the ear as spoke the simple name. This wasn't how he normally acted, no, it was just something he picked up from watching the other all the time with his teasing. It was the same with the feeding. The only thing he didn't copy Hotaru when it came to feeding was that was sucking before he bit. He wanted food, he would be gentle afterwards. Everything was his own way of mimicking the older vampire, shoving it back in his face. Akito leaned over the couch, lowering his head so it was level with Hotaru's. His red eyes peered at the other vampire curiously. It wasn't often he saw the other sleeping. His eyes dropped to the man's lips, examining them a bit. They had only kissed a few select times, even those weren't real kisses. He wanted to actually feel the soft lips on his for longer than a moment. "Hotaru." This time was a suggestive way of saying it, implying something more. This was just coming naturally when he had gained a little power from the other's reactions.

As a little reaction from the first whisper, the older vampire head moved slightly, his ear getting a little red from the warmth. He might have instantly woken up if his mind hadn't been exhausted from what was going on with Akito and if he hadn't watched mind numbing cable television for two hours before passing out... The closer presence was getting the vampire to be pulled out of his sleep, which had only been going on for maybe two or three hours at most. Sleep when you were very tired was great. Sleep when you were bored was just meaningless rest that wouldn't even stop him from going to sleep at his semi-regular time at all, if it did keep him up though, he'd be doomed for more boredom he wasn't looking forward to if he was going through it alone.

"Hotaru."

The older vampire heard that for real this time, at first not knowing who in god's name was saying his name like that. Opening his eyes and turning his head to where he heard the whisper, his pinkish red eyes being faced with blood red. "Akito?" He muttered, him being all that was on his mind at this point, even though it has not even been that long since the newborn started to ignore him coldly. And what was this? Hotaru leaned away and wanted to catch himself before toppling over, but the hand he was going to use that for had been stuck in his pants. Luckily using his other hand to lean on the cushion, he sighed with his heart racing and his cheek getting pink without him even knowing. He thought that he'd hear the newborn come in, but the bastard must have been silent. What a creepy way of waking up. "Akito! Don't do that..." Though he had done the same thing that morning, even watching him sleep, or at least he was watching him when he thought he was sleeping. Sighing, he didn't even address the hand in his pants, looking straight to the brunet again, seeing as he was woken up for a reason he could assume. He must want to talk now. Finally. "Akito, listen, listen... I really want to apologize to you for what I did. I don't want you angry with me," he rubbed his chest, grabbing the shirt out of previous pain coming back, "Please forgive me. The next time you tell me to stop I'll stop."

Was that actually true... In the moment yes. Anything to get the other man to act back to normal would come out of his mouth, it was also a lot easier to do since his head wasn't screwed on correctly after waking up just now. Waking up with a... a name call. But it was different in obvious ways. For one it made him shudder. Akito was behind him, whispering that in his ear, for what? He couldn't possibly have done that to tease him, right? The dog didn't gave it in him to do something like that. It must have been his sick imagination.

Akito shut his lips tightly, his shoulder shaking as he internally laughed. The reaction was something he hadn't seen before, surprised how cute the other could be when he was caught off guard. It wasn't fair for him to not be able to do that when the older vampire did that same thing this morning when he had decided to wake the newborn from his slumber. Seeing the hand in his pants, he didn't dare to address it. That was something he didn't want to talk about. He didn't care why it was there, he didn't need to know either. It was there, simple as that. He didn't need the details of, especially if the other had been jacking off or something. He didn't need those details at all. What Hotaru did with his free time was only for him to know, it was the same with Akito, though it was obvious he didn't do much during the days.

The calm feeling he had quickly spiked to anger when the other finally got his chance to apologize. For the wrong reasons too. He walked around the couch, going in a position where he could pin Hitaru against the cushion, leaning down extremely close to his face. "How does it feel to be in my position for once? You really don't know anything do you? We both know I'm not upset because you didn't stop, it's because you gave me a punishment without fair reason. I didn't deserve that, we both know it. The only reason you were even upset is because I wasn't wearing the damned collar. I was going to come back and put it on, you knew that. I'm so fucking tired of you thinking an apology is going to solve all the problems between us. I'm sick of your apologies, just as much as you were with me yesterday. I felt like complete shit because I didn't put that collar on yesterday, it wasn't even that big of a deal, you knew that. This is a pattern with you, punish and apologize. I've been to kind with you, letting you push me around and do whatever you wanted. I've been nothing except a good doggy, yet you completely ignore that, going off on a whim of your own accord. I'm tired of it. I'm tired of you," the words filled with nothing but spiteful anger.

The words the newborn were speaking caused their lips to brush against each other lightly from how close he was. Pinning the older vampire down gave him no satisfaction, it didn't calm him, he just got more upset because the other was in this position. It felt nice to have the roles reversed, yet he was still the dog, Hotaru the master. He climbed off of Hotaru, standing back up. "If you aren't going to sleep in the bedroom, I will," he snapped. The look he gave Hotaru was one of don't you dare come in while I'm asleep. He didn't want to be woken up, neither did he want to find the vampire next to him after his lash out on him. He walked in the room, shutting the door closed loudly, falling onto the bed. His eyes closed, sleep being the only thing on his mind. He inhaled the scent, finding it to be Hotaru. It was stronger because he had been on this side recently. He continued to sniff and sniff, shutting his eyes tighter. Now matter how much he didn't want to admit it, he missed Hotaru's attention a lot.

A lot of times, being pinned was supposed to be a good thing. Hotaru just didn't find too much satisfaction in being pinned by anyone, not even when things were all better and there wasn't anyone completely pissed off at him. To him, being pinned was a dangerous thing that rose panic in the vampire. Hotaru could be the one doing it, doing it to Akito was nice too. Akito looking at him like that and keeping him against the couch made his eyes widen and his instinct tell him to slap him, to strike back at him, kick him, anything that would get him away from him. Instead he stayed in place, keeping himself from doing that to the newborn, who had the right to be mad at him and to make him feel like shit too. That feeling of being trapped in any place gave him that feeling, it was stress inducing. Fight or flight mode, that would be found solidly in the old vampire, who always lived in the possibility of meeting the wrong person one day and end up falling and never waking up, that fear stronger after his whole family was killed. So yeah. Being pinned, being cornered, having someone on top of him during sex, that never happened as of lately, even before, he didn't like giving anyone else the turn baton to take the wheel unless he was sure he was safe and secure.

The way Akito was like now, this was the kind of time where he should be worried about the newborn leaving and not coming back, not when the loyal dog would wait for him on the couch patiently for him to return from work or from being out with friends. Not when just recently they found comfort in each other in an ally after being split up and worried half to death. Being close to Akito in that way, hugging him and having his hair stroked, that was the kind of thing he wanted, not to be pinned and to have the newborn's face look at him with spite like this. It made him feel so utterly cold, so frozen that not even when Akito was gone did he find himself able to move his body. Hotaru did, however, look down with a gulp. On top of that horrible feeling put on him, that he deserved, he felt so ashamed for the things he's done to Akito. He's always felt bad after the fact and after some time, but all of what he's done just slammed into him.

So the newborn had just basically kicked him out of his own room, warning him not to even wake him up. Hotaru got the message, but he wasn't planning on doing that in the first place. Rubbing his eyes, once his nonexistent spell was broken that allowed him to move again and the first thing that he did was lay down to sleep this time. He reached for the lamp and shut it off, letting the television be the only thing illuminating the dark house and himself while he tried to sleep. It didn't work well, the older vampire being awake for hours. So when he finally did fall asleep, he knew he wouldn't even be awake before Akito.

Akito was restless all night. He wanted to sleep, he really did, he just couldn't get the dumbfounded look of Hotaru out of his mind. Why did it have to be so hard just to dish back pain and suffering someone gave? Was it even worth it at this point? No? Yes? Maybe it wasn't, maybe it was. He wanted Hotaru to just learn that he was so tired of everything, at the same time, he didn't want to make it any worse than it already was. Akito was yearning for the touch of his master, for the affection he was usually given. To the point he was sniffing blankets for comfort. Who was going insane? Who was falling off the deep end first? It seemed like the newborn was. This was almost as bad as when he had given Hotaru a blowjob for attention, he was just lucky he couldn't be seen. He was in the dark alone, the way he hated it. He wanted some comfort there, he hated the cruel world of alone. The newborn just wanted a little touch, a little look. If anything, his own idea of ignoring the other was more like a torture to himself. How horrible. How far was he even willing to take this?

No sleep came that night, none at all. The morning sun peeked through the crack of the curtain as it rose. The brunette was in no mood to get up, he didn't want any interaction with Hotaru either, he couldn't stay in the room all day. It was unfair to the other, he could at least be this generous. He dreaded getting up, as he caught a glimpse of himself in the mirror before exiting the room. He looked like complete shit. He felt like it too. It was like the time the other was blaring music and he got no sleep from the disturbance. Oh... There was another incident that wasn't really needed, at the same time, Hotaru was still quite angry at him for the whole finding out he's the one who killed his parents kind of thing. He wasn't completely in the wrong, was he? Was he even in the wrong now? Yes. They had their alleyway moment, that should've changed something, meant something was going to change. In the end, nothing changed. Not a damn thing. It only seemed to progress to occasional talking and no more restraints. Maybe more amounts of blood, that didn't matter. Nothing changed between them like he hoped. He really did hope for change.

Akito was glad to see the other was still asleep, glad no more interaction would occur this morning. He would just leave quietly. Stripping himself of his dirty clothes, he neatly folded them into a pile by his bags and he got himself clean clothes. Once again, the shirt was smaller than he would've liked, it didn't matter. It wasn't suffocating him, he was fine. He put the sweater back on as he slipped on his shoes. He opened the door slowly with a few freaks before looking back at Hotaru frowning. He felt like such a dick for once, more so than in the beginning when they first met. He didn't want to make it tense between them, there was just a message he was trying to send. Was it even being recieved by his owner? Did he understand anything Akito was trying to say indirectly? Was his all for nothing? He didn't want to believe that, he didn't want to believe his act of rebellion was only harm with no meaning. He was tired of hurting someone without reason, this had reason, was it one he could justify?

The brunette left as he gently closed the door, hoping not to wake the other as he headed off in the direction of the library once more. His eyelids felt heavy, craving to had a moment where he could just sleep the day away. He would've, if Hotaru was gone. Now he felt too awkward staying in the apartment with him. The other night he got so angry over an apology, one he should've just accepted instead of making things worse. However, he didn't. He let this a very get the better of him like he had done many times before. He said things he couldn't take back either, they were nothing but the truth. When he was angry, he was more of a passive angry with Hotaru, that wasn't his passive angry. That was pure anger, if given the option to hit the other, he might have actually done so. That wasn't something he was proud of either, it only made his anger dwell. His stomach turned from how much harm he could possibly be doing to Hotaru. He had hurt him before, it wasn't fair to do it again. Not like this.

The young vampire reached the library, immediately finding the book he was reading the day before, continuing on from where he had left off. He wouldn't return so late tonight, he just didn't want to be there when the other woke up. Who knew what hell could be raised if they tried to talk now. The newborn didn't even want to talk calmly yet, he wanted hold onto this anger and hurt he felt. He wanted to continue to act out and rebel against the other, even if he dreaded doing it. Akito just wasn't mature enough to say he was in the wrong, those were words he hate saying. Somehow the older vampire made him say them all the time without a problem. Words he hated so much he said constantly. He was tired of saying them to appease the other, no more. It was enough, he had done enough now. He was tired of being told right and wrong, yes and no, Akito was his own person to decide.

  • 2 weeks later...

Waking up past noon, Hotaru wasn't surprised to find himself alone in the apartment, it was a cold silence, but he presumed it was better than having hostile air around an angry newborn. It was still especially hard to still keep picturing Akito lean to him so closely with such a spiteful expression swept across his face. "Im tired of it. I'm tired of you" is what he said. Sitting up from his position, Hotaru kept his head down with his heart sinking to his stomach from those words being repeated so much in his head. He was really sorry for it now. This wasn't something he could apologize about and just do again, if he was ever going to make this better, he actually would have to change something about himself. There wasn't any other option because he wasn't just going to let this go on and risk Akito actually leaving his side, because if he just left things like is, that's exactly what was going to happen.

It was hard to think after just waking up and instantly dwelling on bad images in his head of Akito, so he made himself get up and take a shower, not a bath because he knew that wouldn't help relax him, he wanted to get covered in cold water to the little Hotaru's in his brain could start functioning again... His issue wasn't not being able to understand what he was doing wrong. He knew what it was. He'd do things to Akito without a good reason and he would just try to apologize afterwards for each specific occasion. He wasn't showing that he was sorry for being the person that would repeat his actions over and over again. With that, he also lacked trust in the dark haired brunet. Hotaru felt like he didn't think Akito would disappear, but whenever the other man was not in the house, he was scared of him not coming back for whatever reason. He could decide not to come back, he could get kidnapped, he could be killed, what if he got lost again..? Anything could go.

Most of always, with Akito, he either felt powerful or depressed. Those two were very opposite, obviously, but the relationship between that was one caused the other. It really is a shitty thing, isn't it... Hotaru sighed, shaking his head. From the start, the older vampire was aware that he had no right to be angry back at Akito. He couldn't pin back a single thing on him. And he wouldn't dare try. What? Would he really just do that just to attempt to put the newborn in the wrong and just make things worse in doing so? Like that would solve anything. The only thing he could do was... Not apologize... The last time didn't go so well at all.

The first step he'd go to no longer would help. Hotaru tried to apologize and what if it happened again? He wondered if Akito would even give him a chance to apologize again... He hated all of this. Every time he wanted to try and play out something in his mind that might help clean up his mistakes, he kept using the normal Akito in his head. The one he had now was angry and bitter and hated him. If he tried to apologize, he might leave again. If he managed to apologize, who is to say the newborn might get so angry at him he does something worse than pin him? If Hotaru didn't do anything... it was already established what would happen if he did nothing to help the situation. But he didn't plan on doing nothing, so his only fear came from doing the wrong thing. Which was the mystery. What was good, what was bad...

To get some air after drying his hair and getting dressed in casual clothes plus his a light coat, he figured he could go for a walk to the supermarket to get a dessert or something. Akito really hadn't been ingesting any human food apart from juice boxes and some of the dinner he made before. There was no point in doing so physically, but it was a leisure maybe the newborn would be willing to accept. It was just a shame though that he didn't know Akito better. He didn't know what his favorite food was, what flavors he likes, what he doesn't like... not anything. Nothing about him. From the store's bakery section, he got two small dark chocolate lava cakes since they looked tasty enough and had it packaged up in a nice decorative wrap that he could carry. Even if Akito just took his for himself, at least he was taking his small gift. He hoped he would like it, that's all he hoped for, Hotaru knew cake alone wouldn't solve anything. He took a longer route back for the sake of just spending more time outside, taking is time with each step. Maybe all he could try to do was apologize? Apologize and show for of course. He might have to really try for the apology and ask for another chance... Because Akito meant a lot to him. He didn't have anyone else and he wanted to mend things up with him in any way that could fix it.

On his way back, he passed by the library. He didn't read all too much, he was always just busy sleeping around or being anywhere else but home. Boy, hasn't that changed for the last while? Looking through the window, he saw mostly the book shelves and off to the side was a table where a few people were reading at. He could kind of imagine Akito being one of those silent people minding their own business in a book, being quiet and sitting alone... Maybe it was that thought that drew him inside, or it was just the thought of getting a movie from the CD section. As if Akito would actually eat cake with him and watch a movie...

"Oh, excuse me sir, just to let you know, you can't eat in here," a kind, young librarian told him from behind the main counter, talking about the pastry package in Hotaru's hand. It was a small box but it was long, which made it clear it was something meant for more than just himself.

Smiling, he chuckled, "I won't, miss. I'm just stopping by for something quick." Netflix only had so many titles worth watching, so at least here, he could pick up something interesting, even if it was outdated to take out an actual movie disc. Akito probably wouldn't watch it with him anyways, he wouldn't judge his decision to do something like this. Walking to the CDs, he opened up his coat and loosened out his scarf to adjust to the warm interior of the library. Hotaru didn't spend enough time by himself in places like these. It was very cozy in here, nicely lit and quiet as well.

The library was a quiet and a peaceful place. Nothing seemed to go wrong when he was in such a secure place as the library. Honestly, the calming atmosphere should've calmed him enough to be able to talk to Hotaru, however, dwelling didn't let that take its effect. Akito was just being overly dramatic about this, that was all. He himself came to that conclusion. He knew he was doing wrong by just trying to avoid the apology, it was still better than Hotaru keeping silent about it in the end. Still. The apology was useless to the newborn, he couldn't trust the apology anymore. It was always say one thing to appease and then do another. He knew this pattern with Hotaru all too well. Something had to change between them. Either Hotaru actually becomes decent and less possessive or Akito learns to accept it as an everyday thing. Each had their own intense personality, they clashed, the newborn was the one who was being mature just by bowing down at his master's feet. Hotaru needed to bend somehow, someway. Even if it was just a little change.

It's almost funny how this all happened because of a stupid collar. A collar that meant something to one, and meant nothing to the other. This just showed how opposite they were in general. To Akito, the collar was just a collar. Something that for some reason showed a master and his pet. To Hotaru on the other hand, found it as a way of security almost. Akito wouldn't leave then, he was bound to stay with the collar. The newborn understood this, he did, but where was he going to go when that collar came off? Where? He couldn't go home, he couldn't return to the life he once had. He had no money to exactly to try and move out. He was stuck with Hotaru, whether the brunette liked him or not. Which he did. The newborn liked Hotaru a lot, even if he did push and prod at new feelings that the younger man didn't want to feel. Lust and pain. What an odd combination. Just like them. Both of the vampires were odd when they were put together, the odd couple out. Akito hated being touched and the first thing Hotaru did was just that. Though, the idea of being touched by Hotaru was much different than a stranger. It was... kind of nicer.

The dark red eyes were peering at the words on the book, squinting as if he couldn't see the letters. He could, he was just thinking about Hotaru too much to focus. As if squinting could really help then. With a loud sigh, he closed the book as he gently set it on the table next to the chair. He closed his eyes as he leaned his head back. A headache was forming, he didn't know what to do. He didn't want to try and avoid this forever, at the same time, he didn't want to take the original position of just allowing himself to be pushed around. The newborn would kill just for Hotaru to understand his feelings so something could change. It seemed like an impossible dream he was trying to chase. The idea of Hotaru changing to fit Akito seemed laughable, it really was. Maybe it would be easier just to let this up, to stop trying to be this strong vampire they he wasn't. At times it seemed easier if he was just left in the alleyway to die. It did seem much better than the drama he lived with now. The epitome of drama was living under the same roof as him.

A familiar voice sounded through the quiet library. One the newborn hadn't heard since he woke up. It took a few minutes to register who it belonged to, but when the newborn did, his eyes opened as he grabbed a book, shoving his face close. It was silly, for an adult man to act so childish. Using a book as a way to hide, one that didn't exactly cover up the not normal parts about him. His teeth might have been hidden, his eyes, not so much. It was a book, it barely even reached up to his eyes. If Hotaru decided to look for the brunette, it wouldn't be hard to recognize him at all, even if he was being half hidden behind a book. This was just his petty attempt at trying to get out of any certain confrontation. Akito set the book down, rubbing the temples of his forehead. This was going to do this bad situation no good. Making it worse wasn't the best idea. The newborn knew he had to talk to the older vampire at some point, now was just as good a time as any.

Akito, being the kind of organized person he was, returned to books to their rightful places. He may have passed Hotaru a few times without realizing it. It didn't matter, they were still going to talk once his had finished cleaning up. Before the newborn went to go look for Hotaru, he saw the door and hesitated. He could wait until they were both home, that was okay, right? No, it was procrastination. It was easier and quicker to talk to the other now than later. Later might not turn out so good. Right now he was in a calmed state, it could wear off if he tried to wait. The newborn began to look around for that familiar face as he walked around. It wasn't hard to locate the raven haired vampire either. The rose red eyes gave him away easily. Akito took a few deep breaths before walking over to him, awkwardly standing beside him.

"What are you looking at?" That was one of the worst thinges he could have started off with. Still, it was better than nothing. "I guess I wanted to apologize for my behavior yesterday, it wasn't really called for. I'm sorry." Someone has to be the mature one. If Hotaru didn't want to accept his apology, it wouldn't bother him much. Someone had to start off the talking though, sadly it had to be the newborn who was the one pissed off in the first place.

Looking around through titles, he was glad to see that this place had good classic titles that Netflix would never have, but nothing clicked enough for him to want to take it to the front. While browsing though, he swore that he smelled Akito there with his sharp nose. He wouldn't be surprised if he was here, but he wasn't looking to confront him yet. Not here in a public place... But he just wasn't aware that Akito was thinking deeply about apologizing just as much as himself. Maybe not just as much as himself, but it wasn't what Hotaru thought. Sure enough, he smelled him again and this time he peeked his head out of the shelves and saw the newborn's dark brown hair and his back as he walked to return books. The older vampire went back to where he was and didn't make any effort to walk his way at all. He wasn't necessarily avoiding him, he just didn't want to start anything here. What he did do was prepare himself because just because Hotaru didn't want to talk yet, that didn't meant Akito might not want to pass by once he was found. If that was the case, it probably wasn't for anything too hostile. The younger vampire wasn't the kind of guy to start huge fusses in public, not like himself.

Hotaru tried to focus more on finding a movie, he took a breath. Using the tip of his finger to touch each title his eyes also passed over, he could soon feel eyes on him. He's been found, he guessed, but he made no indication that he had the feeling, picking up a movie that his finger stopped on. "Hm." Taking it out, Hotaru saw the name The Princess Bride. When he was in America, he found that he liked this one. Akito might like it. Well he would be able to ask him because in the next moment, the taller man standing beside him at the CD shelf. He gave gave him a first glance and lowered the movie in his other hand before giving him his full attention, only being able to look him in the eyes because his voice sounded more calm and he felt prepare enough. In a way. And for that, he didn't look as surprised as he should to have him at his side all of a sudden.

"I'm sorry." He said. Sorry? What he did yesterday was hard on him, but it wasn't like he wasn't justified.

Shaking his head, Hotaru frowned, speaking quietly for the sake of the rest of the people in the library, but in his tone it was easy to see that he was confused and not happy being the one to receive an apology. "You're not the one who should be apologizing for that. With all the shit I pulled," he looked to the movies again and sighed with a pity smirk for himself, "Akito, I'm surprised you didn't try to hit me. I would have let you too if it made you feel better... What I really want right now from you is you to say yes for a pitiful movie date with me. If its okay to call it that. I want to say sorry too. If you don't believe me and you don't want to do anything with me, I'll just sleep over at a friend's house. You can even keep the cake if you wanted to. I wouldn't blame you, these actually smell pretty fucking good." He lifted up the package, "A little dark chocolate lava cake, one for you and me... Its not a bribe, I swear, it just... looked really good. I thought you might like it." Shrugging, Hotaru took a step away as he pretended to look at the other movies, but it was just as useless as Akito trying to read a book with something on his mind.

Man... just hearing Akito apologize for any bit of his behavior made his chest physically hurt. He didn't need to apologize. He did not need to apologize.

It was awkward alright. After Akito had apologized, Hotaru seemed to just ramble on. Newborn didn't try to stop him either, he just listened and listened. He was surprised that the newborn hadn't hit him? Did he really seem like that much of a violent person? Yes and no. Yesterday he was a bit aggressive, he understood that, but he wouldn't hit Hotaru. Hell, he couldn't even try to be violent with the other. One time, one time he bit harder than he should've, that was the most he could do. That comment made him frown, a crease forming between his furrowed eyebrows. The brunette was unpredictable when he was crabby, that was something he really needed to fix. The one thing he needed to learn was to remain calm, which so do be extremely difficult. It's like Hotaru had some godlike talent to be able to push every single button on Akito until he blew up. This rage really came from the way the older vampire pushed him, as if he was testing each button slowly, only to hit them all at once by doing something stupid.

"Yes. I'll do the movie with you. You talk a lot, it's kind of annoying," he said in a hushed tone as he watched the other try and pretend he was looking at the movies. He smell of the lava cakes was really good, however, he didn't really see a desire in eating them. They didn't fill his hunger. He didn't like chocolate as much as he liked sour candies, like lemonheads, those were delicious. There was another thing he had a problem with, Hotaru leaving. He hated it when the other just left to go to a friends house. He dreaded being alone, why was that so hard to understand? This feeling of attachment was almost as bad as a crush. Which he didn't have, did he? No. Hotaru was just his cure for boredom, it's not like he really needed the other around. Well no, this could just be codependency of anything. Just not a crush, absolutely not a crush. He didn't see Hotaru in a romantic light, though he didn't see him in any kind of light really.

"Your apology... I still won't accept it. That doesn't mean I don't believe it, I just won't accept it. I'm still against letting you solve this with just a little apology. It never meant anything in the past, you could just be saying it to say at this point. I have faith your not though. I just don't want to accept it. One, get me a library card and I'll think about it. Since I don't know the address that well, I need you to fill out that sheet for me. Two, take me to a instrument shop. I want to check out the violins," his voice so calm and smooth. He was being extremely demanding, this he knew. It wasn't like he was asking for much, just a library card and a visit to a shop. Neither costed money. He was just taking advantage of the situation. Akito really wanted to start actually doing things. Hell, he wanted to get a job to pay Hotaru rent, as long as the other was okay with it.

"Number three. If you are going to depend on that collar as a way of believing I'm not going to leave, burn it. I'll wear it, as long as I have your trust in me, not the me that wears the collar. If you don't think you can ever see that collar as anything but the reason I'll stay, then it needs to be burned," the tone becoming a bit more snappy than before. He had a thing against wearing he collar now, not wanting to even discuss wearing it anymore. These were conditions to accept that apology that Hotaru wanted desperately to use. He would work for it this time, it wouldn't just be taken. That was the equivalent to letting the older vampire get away with it. He was tired of doing that. So very tired.

"Akito has grown quite old too. I think you should stick with that stupid nickname you gave me. When I hear Akito, it feels like I'm in trouble."

He agreed to the movie, that was good, but a hushed Akito telling him that he talked too much did actually manage to make him smile because that wasn't the first time he's hard that before, that was sure. Did he really just talk to much just now? Sometimes he couldn't even tell himself, it's been hundreds of years, and one would have guessed he got bored of speaking. A more unfortunate thing to hear was that he wasn't forgiven. Well... it wasn't like there were many different responses to an apology. It was either acceptance or not. Now though, Akito was more calm and Hotaru was glad to have been denied in a more hushed tone. Might have just been possible yesterday's incident came from the newborn still be riled up? If that was the case, then the older vampire should have kept his mouth shut. He didn't know how heated Akito was, so he supposed there was no helping it. Hotaru really did want to apologize then, now as well. Only if Akito accepted... then he just would have to prove he was sorry by not being a huge dick to him in doing a similar stunt.

Akito counting down, Hotaru looked at him again as he listened. Library card... that wasn't an issue. He was going to ask about that as well... Akito also wanted to check out violins? He had no idea he played. As soon as he mentioned the instrument, he knew he was going to get one for him. Money wasn't an issue for him, a guy who paid his neighbors not to make noise complaints whenever he made too much noise fucking in his house. If he had money for that, he could pay for a violin for someone who was growing roots in his heart. Though still... wow. A violin. If he didn't spend so much time fucking around with Akito when he was home, he probably would have known he used to play with an instrument earlier. That came to show Hotaru again how he knew so little about the person who lived with him.

With the collar brought up, Hotaru wasn't sure on how to feel. That collar caused a lot of problems when it's purpose was something entirely different. He wasn't sure if he'd throw it away or burn it, but he didn't think he'd make Akito wear it all the time. It was better that way so that he didn't have to associate loyalty with a materialistic item that wrapped around someone's neck. Anyways it was for kink purposes only. If Hotaru was planning on treating Akito differently, that meant the dog collar was meant for certain occasions, he couldn't view it as belittling him anymore, as the trust they had, anything... How much differently could he manage to get himself to behave regarding the newborn actually...? He wasn't at all sure, but it might start with not freaking out every time he left the house. It was simply in his nature to be playful and teasey, so he wasn't sure how that would actually go. Hotaru might end up screwing something up, but he'd just try to keep reasonable in his own standards, which not the same standards as a normal person if you didn't realize that from spending ten minutes with him.

"Aki... chan." Hotaru ended up smiling again, smiling far wider, "I didn't know much much that grew on you. But I do suppose when I only say your actual name when things aren't going well... Aki-chan then." Pulling back from the movies, he showed the movie in his hands, "I agree your demands. Well Aki-chan, I hope you like my pick, we're going to be watching this one. So now lets go to the front and get your card, then we'll go see violins..." He started walking, but stopped, "Oh, and I suggest that you think of a different name to put on your registry. For safety purposes." then he continued to walk, wanting Akito to follow him. He didn't think he'd be this happy after being rejected. It could be that he just really wanted a shitty date movie night with him to fix things up.

Akito couldn't say he was displeased with how this turned out, it actually went smoothly. A lot smoother than he had first planned himself for. His terms were agreed to, that was one step closer to just fixing this entire mess. Whether Akito wanted to say it or not, but having to ignore Hotaru truly killed him inside. He wanted to be able to have normal conversations even if it was only about a day and a half. It still felt like a stab in his chest. One that seemed to ease up now that they had talked. It got somewhere too. Even if the apology wasn't accepted, he laid down the simplest terms that Hotaru could to be able do. There should be nothing wrong with what he even requested. It wasn't like he was asking to sleep with Hotaru or for him to jump off a bridge. He was t asking for the impossible. Just easy things, little things that could be achieved with no problem. This might not have seemed like a big deal to people, but a library card would give him something to do. He just wanted to see some violins to visit his past. Even if it wasn't the best, he still had things he enjoyed. Getting rid of that collar would finally break that wall that they had seemed to put up with it.

How many times was the nickname said? Three. The newborn was paying attention closely. It only really needed to be said once, the other seemed to take advantage of being able to say it. The younger vampire just shrugged when the other showed the movie they would be watching, not really caring much for it. He agreed to watch it with the other, though he couldn't promise he'd fall asleep during it. He was never really into watching movies. They bored him more often than not. He'd still try though, he already agreed whether he liked it or not. This didn't seem like a good or bad idea, it was kind of just happening. It wouldn't make him accept the apology, it would just allow for them to finally start talking again. No more of this childish game of ignoring Hotaru. Akito was tired of being petty.

"I'm sure you'll think of something to put on it. For all I care, use Hatchi again," he said as he walked by him, heading behind one of the shelves to search for some books. Akito was letting the other take care of his registry as he just looked. He was basically was just giving the other a chance to practically make a person. The newborn didn't understand why he even needed to have a name change, it's not like many people knew who he was anyway. Vampire or hunter. Maybe that was slightly wrong, he was known through hunters, it just happened to be his family name. They didn't know him personally. It would be easier just to change his last name from Kiichi to something else. He didn't really see a point in changing his first name more than he saw a point in changing his last. It didn't matter. Hotaru would be taking care of all that. Not him. If Hotaru wanted to change his name for safety purposes, then he could figure it out himself.

Why didn't he just follow Hotaru to fill out his own sheet? Simple. He didn't want to do it, he found it easier just to let the other do it on his own. His eyes peered through the books as he pulled out three. These would be read in no time with the spare time he always had. This might actually help his bad sleep habit. It was always nice to read a book when he couldn't sleep, it was the best way to tire him out. After he had selected his three books, he walked out to go to the desk to find Hotaru. He set the books on the counter as he waited. He wanted to leave as soon as possible. He wouldn't verbally say it, but he was excited to go to violins. It had been so long since he had played, he ached to feel the steel strings against his fingers. To be able to move the bow freely. This would be a reason he wanted a job, he wanted to be able to buy those kinds of things for himself. He didn't always want to depend on Hotaru. Akito was a grown man, not some child. He didn't like being taken care of, he wanted to be responsible for his own life. Which seemed difficult with his master always keeping him behind the line he wanted to step over.

Hotaru looked confused seeing Akito walked right away from him, he stopped right there and almost expected him to turn around and apologize for going the wrong way... This was his library card, why did he feel like he didn't want to be there for that? The older vampire raised his chin and gave himself his neutral expression going to the front. He actually felt a slight burn from not being followed, but he wanted to get over that feeling because if he was getting the library card, it must mean he was about to get the books he wanted to bring home. Of course... Hotaru just needed to relax. "Ah, hello~" he came to the front again, setting the dvd case down and going into his pocket to get out his wallet for his library card, "I'd like to take this movie and I also want to get a card for my friend."

"No problem," the girl helped him out then, scanning the movie and then going below the counter for a form. Oh his own library card wasn't his actual name either. It's just at this point of life, he felt it was necessary to keep documents of his name fake, he felt the same way for Akito. He was an ex hunter and if he ran away, then it must mean it was possible someone was looking for him, right? When he was given a pen with the form, he went to the first line and wrote in the name Akitaru Hatchimitsu. It didn't seem like a bad idea at first, but writing it with ink, it... It was... He tried not to think much about the combined name. Akito said he didn't care... Okay. Hotaru wouldn't be judged on his movie choice but he'd be ver judged for this. He didn't have any other ideas and a ship name came out all on its own.

By the time Akito came back around , the librarian put a card on the desk and luckily his arrival saved her breath from telling Hotaru that Akitaru needed to do the final signature on the actual card. "There." He also just finished the form, handing the pen over to the newborn to sign before walking off to the exit in a slight hurry. That came from not wanting to see Akito's face when he saw the cringey name he gave. Hotaru could just imagine his expression and hear his groan. He should probably apologize for it later when they got home after going to see violins... There was the option of getting it for him now or another time. Today, he wasn't so sure if Akito would even like the idea of receiving something precious to his heart from someone who didn't. Getting it when he wasn't around would have to be what he did, all he had to do was keep an eye on Akito and see which one he liked the most.

Hotaru didn't want a repeat of that cold feeling he got a few minutes ago, he hoped that when they were home, he wouldn't be brushed over so much. He was giving Akito respects as his sorry, but he still wouldn't be able to take being ignored so kindly. Giving him some space, being as honest as he could and having patience with himself, that was he was willing to give because it would prevent more storms to come. With them being outside too, he wouldn't remind Akito that Hotaru was still himself and there was always a limit to how much things he could take as well. He will be kind and friendly. What he wanted in return wasn't much to ask for if he's on his best behavior.

Akitaru Hatchimitsu. That was the name he was given for this library card. A small chuckle escaped his lips when he saw it, obviously confusing the librarian. At least it wasn't Hachi again, that could've been worse. This one, wasn't as bad. It was kind of cute. He signed the name neatly, using a piece of tape to put over it. He got his books, before pocketing his card and putting the books in a bag. He headed for the exit, a bit confused the other took off in such a hurry. Why? Well, it didn't matter. It's not like he was bothered by it. When he got to Hotaru, a smile formed on his face at the name on the card. "Akitaru, huh?" The newborn snickered at that, not in a rude way, just a teasing one. He didn't dislike the name, it wasn't that bad to him. It was just a silly name in his eyes. It's not like it was his real name now. Just a fake name on a library card, which he still found to be even crazier than the name.

It was silent the rest of the way as the walked to an instrument shop. The newborn had to follow Hotaru since he had no idea where they were going. This was farther than he ever let himself walk. These were the little things he still had to depend on Hotaru for. Directions, food, money. That wasn't exactly his favorite thing. The only thing he wanted to really depend on Hotaru on was just the food. He'd still refuse to drink from a human, it was just his morals that made that decision for him. Even in the time of death, he still wouldn't eat a human. They smelled delicious, but not as good as Hotaru. It was like he trained his brain to just think Hotaru was the best, which he was, but there was still no comparison. He was just following what his brain would say, Hotaru is the best. That's all there was to it. So no human mattered because he had the older vampire. He didn't dare to break that by actually biting into a human.

When they arrived at the instrument shop, Akito was ecstatic, like w child in a candy shop. He quickly made his way to the violins, looking each one over carefully. Some strings were nylon, others were guys, but his favorite were the steel. The lasted longer if you treated them right. He grabbed the one violin that seemed to stand out to him, it reminded him of the one they had in the past. The front was maple, but the back was a pretty rosewood. His favorite. He plucked at the string a few, feeling the nylon against his fingers. It was fine, he could deal with changing from steel to nylon. After tuning it a bit, the brunette set his chin on the chi rest as he grabbed bow and played a few simple notes. Yeah, this was the one he needed to work for. It was just the one he naturally clicked to, no other violin compared. He gently placed the instrument back where it belonged before walking by Hotaru, heading for the exit, mumbling, "I'm done. Let's go home now." It was only about five minutes in the store, but he knew which one he wanted, it didn't take long for him. Sometimes you just know. That violin was perfect for him.

Akito repeating the name he gave him for the library only made it worse, only shrugging when he felt embarrassed. Joining names was something couples did and they weren't a couple. Far from it. Though Akito didn't seem to hate it in the same way he hated himself for coming up with it. Akitaru. He should have had made himself coffee before leaving the house. It was pretty laughable to even think of himself in a romantic relationship with the newborn. He was always opposed to them in the first place, they just caused trouble. With humans, of course it was bad because they can die. With another vampire, being bound together for forever... You had to be in Romeo/Juliet kind of love for that to last and with himself and Akito, their relationship wasn't like that. They were dependent on each other, but there was no love here. Definitely not. The kind of love his mom and dad had was the only kind he felt would ever be true, where they depended on each other, never got tired of each other, they had to be close to each other at almost all times. It was insane how that worked, but it was strong. It lasted over 2,000 years for gods sake. Hotaru and Akito would never have that. Akito might want to leave him too once he wasn't needed anymore as a constant donor. That was the day the older vampire rued.

Instruments weren't his place. Hotaru learned how to play a clarinet, a guitar, a violin and other things, but that was only because he had all the time in the world and sometimes he got bored. Playing instruments wasn't in his heart and just didn't play anything anymore, his memory on how to play was practically gone anyways. His relationship with an instrument was never like what he saw from Akito, it made him smile from the distance watching him look so happy holding a violin after who knows how long. The newborn played some notes to get a feel for it and put it down afterwards. It didn't take a genius to see that Akito took a liking to that one. Hotaru wanted to get it right now for him, but he had to remind himself that he was going to buy it another time. There wasn't any rush for it since violins weren't typically on demand, he'd probably be the first one to buy a violin from this store too, he bet. Hotaru didn't mind sticking around longer, but it seemed that Akito was done here and told him they'd be leaving... That's just more reassurance that the one he picked up was THE one. He'd remember which one it was and he'd be back.

On the way home, he gifted Akito with more of his silence, not the awkward silence kind of thing, he just wasn't speaking. He bet the guy enjoyed that. Akito was the one who said it would be hot to gag his mouth so he'd finally shut up for once. His mouth being shut wasn't going to last long though, because it wasn't easy to keep it like this. Hotaru liked to run his mouth and he liked the sound of his own voice, that's not an overstatement either. And as soon as he walked in their closed apartment, the first thing he did was take a huge breath as if not talking was the same as not breathing, "Finally back... Are you planning on taking a bath before the movie?" He asked, looking at him while putting away his coat and shoes, "If you are, I'll wait for you. And I want to eat the cakes together while we watch it since that was my original plan... If you are, you need to be fast because the cakes really do look good and it'll be..." It would be torture for Akito to make him wait a long time. That's what he would say, but he thought how it might be insensitive for him to say that since Hotaru would make Akito wait a long time home alone for him to be back. Hotaru licked his lips and shook his head with a weak smile, "Just... Do what you do. I'll just set up the movie now."

The silence wasn't good nor bad, just strange. Akito was growing used to having sound around him when Hotaru was around. He was used to the constant talking, the sound of the voice. Having silence was just odd. With Hotaru, he didn't expect it to be this quiet. The silence was kind of peaceful, it just didn't sit right with the newborn. He kept stealing glances at Hotaru, as if he was expecting him to say something to fill the air. Nothing was said. He was acting like he wanted to hear the other speaking, even if it was another one-sided conversation, even if he rambled, he would've rather had something than nothing. The brunette didn't speak either, he was in no mood to become the conversation starter. He just left it in silence as the continued on their route home. Maybe this was going to be a new thing, that didn't sound so great. He wanted a change, but in behaviors. The newborn was starting to like hearing Hotaru's voice, well, when it wasn't snapping or screaming at him. During the nice conversations, it was nice to just be able to listen.

Upon arriving at the house, the brunette slipped off his shoes as he closed the door behind them. He put the shoes neatly against he wall, before following Hotaru in. It was easy for the newborn to see that the other seemed to be holding back when he was keeping quiet. He didn't have to, that was the thing. When he was asked if he was going to take a bath, he kind of just shrugged. Akito ran his fingers through his hair to find it wasn't greasy, he was fine for one more day. He sat on the couch as the other set up the movie. He noticed the stopping of his sentence, he just didn't comment on it. The younger vampire could tell the other was holding back majorly, which was confusing for him. He didn't ask for this kind of change. He just wanted the other to stop punishing him without fair cause. Not... whatever this was. No other words could describe what he was seeing as anything but confusing. Hotaru never watched what he said, why start now?

"I remember, the first time we met and I couldn't stand your touches or that teasing you did. I absolutely hated you for even suggesting sexual acts. Yet, somehow, I can't seem to recall when I started growing used to them. If anything, I think I almost like them now," he said in an attempt to break the annoying silence. Sure, that was one of the things he could have not said, it was embarrassing, but something needed to be said. It just happened, he didn't think about it properly before he spoke. This is what happens when you don't get enough sleep at night. You say things you regret. Well, it's not like that Akitaru was any better, they both were fucking up, like a pair of clueless teens. Akito was far too old to be considered a teenager anymore. He was reaching his thirties quickly, not that it seemed to matter. He was immortal now. The newborn didn't seem to hate being a vampire as much as he used to either. It had its perk of getting him away from the worst profession there was.

"Oh... And the apology, I guess I'll accept it now. The collar doesn't matter. Just... Trust me, alright? I don't have anywhere but here, I'm stuck with you, your stuck with me. I'm not going to leave. I don't think I'll be going anywhere else," he blurted out his thoughts once more. At least, these ones weren't as embarrassing as the other part he spat out about liking the touches. Well, almost. He still didn't like being touched in a pleasurable way yet because it was never on his terms, always Hotaru's. Akito couldn't promise he'd stay forever, he didn't want to always be a burden to Hotaru. Right now, he was here. It shouldn't matter about the future, only the present. It could possibly be two hundred years, maybe more, before he left Hotaru. Which seemed like a difficult task in itself to prepare himself for. He depended on Hotaru for everything, he didn't want to drink any human blood. The day he left, was the day he could finally bring himself to do that. He didn't expect that to happen anytime soon.

"I've been meaning to ask you, would you let me get a job? I don't... I don't like living under your roof just getting everything for free. I'd like to pay you rent at the least. Perhaps even pay you for the blood you give me. I just, I feel like it would give me something to do during the day and I at least could be giving you something in return for letting me stay here. Even if it is under the weirdest conditions," he said quietly. Now it was his turn to be noisy. Akito was just tired of the silence, it just, made him feel so weird. He wanted to get rid of that feeling by making Hotaru talk so more. Anything to get him to talk again. Silence... That used to be the best gift he could've been given, bro right now though. It wasn't the nicest thing at all for him lately.
