Dammit, dammit, dammit, Sae thought, as he ran as fast as he could, to the forest. He had forgotten there was going to be a full moon tonight. He felt his skin tingling uncomfortably, and urged his legs to go faster. Almost... there! Sae could see the trees in the forest, and sprinted down the hill. Ack! Sae tripped and fell, rolling down the steep slope, stopping just before he crashed into a giant tree.

He groaned slightly, and then let out a frighteningly loud scream of pain. Needles...needles! Sae felt fur sprouting, and his bones rearranging themselves with creaks and snaps. "Nnngh...hahhh..hahh" Sae gasped for breath as the spasms slowly stopped.

Lifting one hand... no, paw, Sae was glad to see that he had transformed fully this time, and didn't become some half-hybrid mutant. His nose twitched. There was a smell in the air that was very pleasant. It smelled sharp, and clean, like a breeze on a spring morning, but also warm and inviting, like home.

Suddenly, he heard a chuckle behind him. He whipped his head around... and saw, a human...

Ryota was heading home from a party but decided to take the longer route, heading through the forest. He enjoyed the dark, peaceful place it was at night. Many people would be scared, but he wasn't. He read his fare share of horror and fantasy novels, bad things always happened in the forest at night. But those were just a stories meant to fill his mind with fear. The forest was a place for him to collect his thoughts, think about his life. Nothing had ever happened in the years he walked through it, so what would happen now?

He continued to stomp his way through the first when he hear a loud scream of pain. He quickly sprinted to where the noise was coming from, worried that someone was being attacked. He stopped, seeing a boy turn into... a wolf? He looked like hell with the way his body was rearranging itself. He scrunched his face up in disgust at the sight of the bones breaking. He watching the boy with curiosity and amusement in his eyes, a smile playing on his lips. This was something new, something that actually brought light into his dull life.

The wolf-boy lifted one of his paws, looking at it for a second. His nose then twitched as if he was smelling the air. He chuckled at the innocent actions of the ferocious beast. It was adorable, how could he not? The wolf turned his head, looking at him. It sent shivers down Ryota's spine. He wasn't scared, he was thrilled. He spoke in a cocky tone, "Well, this is an exciting event. To think I'd see such an open change of form. Shouldn't you be more careful not to display such a scene? You're quite lucky I saw you and not somebody else. They might have screamed their head off in fear."

"You don't have to scream your head off... I'll bite it off for you." Sae replied coldly, although inside his head, he was panicking—a million thoughts yelled at him What are you going to do? He saw you! He saw you! The human looked amused... and he didn't like that one bit. I feel like he's mocking me... Sae thought, frustrated. Narrowing his eyes, he stalked closer to the human. Leaping up, he tried to tackle the human onto the ground. The human moved with surprisingly fast reflexes, and stepped out of the way, with a surprised look on his face. Sae landed on the ground with a loud thump. Owww, dammit, my foot... Sae grimaced in pain. The human cautiously came closer to him, looking slightly concerned.

Ryota wasn't going to lie, that comment scared him slightly. He rubbed the back of his neck slightly panicked. This wolf had the capability to kill him in an instant, you don't take that lightly, no matter the situation. He could act like it was nothing, but it set off alarms in his head. The wolf-boy came closer, leaping at him. His eyes widened stepping out of the way of the beast, more like jumping out of the way. The thump that the wolf landed with seemed a bit painful. He didn't want to get closer at the moment, the wolf did just attempt an attack on him, but he couldn't just leave him in pain.

He took a deep breath, gathering courage and confidence, stepping closer. He was cautious, stopping about a foot away from him. He spoke in a kind, genuine tone, "Do I have permission to take a look? I won't hurt you, I promise. That's not my style anyways. You just seem to be in pain, I can't leave you like that. I just need to know you won't bite my hand off when I go to touch you." His last comment sounded a bit more panicked, hoping that scene actually wouldn't happen, but you never know.

The human spoke, asking if he could come to look at his leg. Sae growled. "Are you looking down on me? Do I look like I need your help?!" Sae turned away grimacing. When I shift back, I'll be fine... probably. Sae tried to limp away, but slipped on a round stone, and landed on his leg. This time, he heard an audible snap. "Why!!!" Sae groaned. Pain wracked his leg, but he refused to cry out. Lying back onto the ground, he decided to wait it out until he shifted back. Ugh I probably look really pathetic right now... and in front of the human too! Sae sulked, reminding himself that he would only have to remain in wolf form for a couple more hours. Fluffing out his fur, Sae laid his head on the ground and tried to rest up a bit. He would have to find some way to silence the human...

He frowned, unhappy with the rejection to his offer. He didn't mean to sound like he was making the wolf-boy look weak, he was just genuinely concerned. He watched the wolf attempted to limp away but slipped and hit his leg. He winced at the snapping sound that came from it. He didn't care whether the wolf said no or yes, he needed to help him. He couldn't leave him there while he was in pain, it was wrong. The wolf laid down and he took that as an opportunity to walk over to him. He was full of courage forgetting about the fact the wolf could easily kill him.

Ryota sat by the wolf's injured leg, touching it gently, looking it over and over mutiple times. He heard a growl form from the beast, and he sighed. "I don't care whether you hate this or not, you're in pain and I can't just leave you like that. It's wrong. I want to help, I'm not looking down on you. I get that you're a scary beast who could easily rip my throat out, but everyone needs help at some point. Go ahead and bite me if you want, but I'm not taking no as an answer," his tone firm and serious. He hoped he didn't get his hand bitten off but at least he's being doing something right if it did. He looked over at the wolf's face, locking eye contact. "Just let me help you out, okay?" He smiled, trying to seem as friendly as possible.

Sae felt a hint of fear as the human walked closer to him and crouched down. His leg hurt, and although he had sharp claws and teeth at his disposal, he was still a rather small wolf. If the human had a weapon, Sae, currently vulnerable could be overpowered at any moment. Tailed bristled, he heard the human speak again. "I don't care whether you hate this or not, you're in pain and I can't just leave you like that. It's wrong. I want to help, I'm not looking down on you. I get that you're a scary beast who could easily rip my throat out, but everyone needs help at some point. Go ahead and bite me if you want, but I'm not taking no as an answer."

Sae whimpered. The human sounded less afraid and tentative than before. He closed his eyes as the human gently lifted his leg and examined it. "I didn't ask for help. But if you want to help, carry me over to that tree. I'll be fine after I shift back. The bones will fix themselves... And also, keep me shifting a secret. Or I'll hunt you down and actually rip your throat out." Sae's voice turned icy at the end.

Ryota sighed, putting the wolf-boy's leg down gently. He was being extremely difficult. He could carry him to the tree but that didn't mean he was going to leave him alone. He was planning on staying there until he shifted back just to be sure his leg properly healed. How would he get home if it didn't? He wouldn't.

The alarms went off in his head as the wolf spoke. Or I'll hunt you down and actually rip your throat out. Ryota tried to laugh it off as nothing, but his shoulders stiffened at the statement. "Who could I tell that would actually believe me? Everyone would think I'm a lunatic. No worries, I won't tell anyone. I swear it on my life," speaking in a joking tone. "I think I'll just let you stay here instead of taking you over to that tree. But I'm staying with you until you shift back, just to be safe. If your leg isn't properly healed then I can carry you back to your place. Alright? My name is Ryota but you can call me Ryo if you'd like. It's nice to have meet you."

"Well then, Ryo-chan ♥," Sae said sarcastically, in the sweetest voice he could muster, "My name is Sae. Call me Sae ♥." Sae usually spent time as a wolf in the forest. Running around and chasing small animals, though not chasing them as prey, but now he was stuck with a goodie two shoes who wanted to "help" him. "So bothersome..." Sae mumbled.

Looking over at Ryota, he wondered why the guy was even wandering around in a forest in the first place. I think he's suspicious! Eh, but he looks nice... Two voices inside Sae's head fought. Sighing, Sae played with a stone, rolling it back and forth between his paws. Soon bored, he rested his head on his front paws and closed his eyes, thinking of all the things he needed to do after he got home.

Ryota laughed, holding his stomach. The tone Sae used was hilarious, he tried to be sarcastic but it was just ridiculous in Royta's eyes. He stopped laughing at the bothersome comment, frowning at it. He didn't mean to be a bother, he was just trying to be friendly. He inwardly sighed at the wolf-boy. He was so against him that he didn't even look at the fact he was in danger being left a lone in the woods unable to defend himself. He brushed his hair behind his ear, getting it out of his face. It was irritating that the boy couldn't appreciate some kind of help.

He lifted his head up, looking at the stars. He loved the night sky, it was so dazzling. The stars the prettiest lights in life. They were pretty diamonds that shined down upon the dull world. It really was a radiant sight to behold. He looked back at Sae, seeing he had put it his head down, closing his eyes, Ryota smiled. It seems he just accepted the fact Ryota wasn't going to be leaving anytime soon. He unconsciously extended out his hand towards the wolf, petting him on the back. His fur felt soft between his fingers, softer than any other animal that he had felt before.

Sae felt fingers gently stroking his fur. It felt kind of nice, even though it was "Ryo-chan" who was touching him. Sae drifted off to sleep comfortably.

--------------------------------------

Suddenly, with a jolt, Sae awoke. Dammit, time to shift... Sae clenched his teeth as his bones rearranged themselves once more. There was a particularly loud grinding as his hind leg patched itself up, gluing back together a few torn tendons, some slivers of bone. "Nnngh..." It hurt a lot more than when he was shifting regularly, Sae thought to himself. His body slowly straightened itself back up, and Sae was human once more. Well, sort of. Unknown to him, His fluffy tail had not disappeared, and was still waving behind him. Sae gingerly moved his leg back and forth. It was a little sore, but seemed fine for the most part.

Stretching, he saw that the sun was just rising, the rosy fingers of dawn just barely reaching across the still dark sky. Sae waved his tai—wait why did he still have a tail?! Sae willed for it to go away. It just fluffed out more, and Sae pouted. Why am I still not able to control my transformation?! Sighing, he took a deep breath, and willed for it to go away more firmly. With a pop, the tail disappeared.

Phew. Now... breakfast...

Ryota stroked the fur until he realized Sae fell asleep. He laid on his back, the ground of the woods uncomrtoable, but he could manage. He closed his eyes, takin in the cool breeze of the night. It felt nice to be outdoors at night, there as just the peaceful aura that came from it. He slowly drifted off to sleep, tired from the exciting day.

He jolted awake hearing the snapping of Sae's bones. He couldn't figure out how the boy could deal with such pain, he cringed from just hearing it. He saw the sun was barely up, an unusual time for him to be waking up. He got s closer look at Sae, studying his every feature. He was a good looking kid, that was for sure. He watched the tail that didn't go away, chuckling light at the image. The boy was silly, the way he pouted over nothing. The tail finally disappeared, causing Ryota to frown. He liked the sight of the tail on the younger boy.

"How was your sleep? Is your leg feeling better?" he said as he yawned. He usually was going to bed at this time, it was weird to be up so early. His shoulders and neck felt stiff from sleeping on the hard ground. He shivered slightly at the chilled morning. He stretched his arms up, loosening up slightly. He pulled a couple of leaves from his hair, shaking his head to get some dirt off as well. He hated the dirt stains on his shirt and pants, luckily his house wasn't that far of a walk, he could change soon enough. His stomach growled, demanding food. He chuckled nervously, he didn't really eat much the previous night.

"How was your sleep? Is your leg feeling better?" Ryota had questioned Sae, after waking up as well. "Mmm, yeah, I guess, " Sae replied gruffly. His leg did feel better, but there was a definite chill in the air. Sleeping at lower temperatures didn't affect him much—he had nice, warm fur, but Ryota shouldn't have been sleeping outside with just the clothes he had on. "Well, I'm hungry... so I'm going to go get food." As if it was an afterthought, Sae mumbled quietly, "You can come, too, if... if you want to." Sae turned away, thinking about where to go eat.

There was a nice place near the road close to the forest, but they wouldn't be open this early. His house was also close, as this was the forest where all his changes took place, but there was NO way he was going to let someone who saw his biggest secret into his house, where there were plenty more secrets. Food... food... where to get food...

Ryota was relieved when Sae said his leg felt better, or kind of said it. He didn't really give a specific answer so Ryota just took it as a yes. He was worried that his leg wouldn't have felt any better and he would have had to carry him. His body was not up for an strenuous excerise at the moment. Well, I'm hungry... so I'm going to go get food. He was quiet the second time he spoke. Extremely quiet, Ryota had to strain his ears to just have heard him. You can come, too, if... if you want to. He smiled a wide smile, picking himself off the rough ground, brushing his pants off from any remaining dirt that had collected on him.

"I'll accept that offer, I would enjoy to get to know you a bit more," speaking in a cocky tone. He didn't have many hidden agendas, he did want to flirt a bit, but he was more curious to know about the transformation he witnessed. He pondered where they should eat, lighting up with excitement at his idea. "My place is nearby, we could eat there if you'd like... or not." He didn't have much food since he ate out most of the time. Whatever food he did have was probably spoiled by now. He chuckled, awkward about having to take back his offer. "Got any ideas where we should eat?"

"My place is nearby, we could eat there if you'd like... or not." Sae paused, smile lighting up his face. "Okay! Let's go to your place!" Yes! He invited me! If I can find some sort of weakness or any information to blackmail him with, my secret will be safe! Blatantly ignoring the "...or not." part, Sae tried to soften his harshness.

"So... where do you live?" Sae, asked awkwardly, instantly regretting his question. I sound totally creepy!

Trying once more to be amiable, Sae did his best to smile warmly. Not just smile. Smile warmly. "Um, are you good at cooking...?"

Ugh this is so hard... But Sae still tried, to keep a conversation going.

Ryota pouted, guess they were going his place then. He really hoped nothing in his fridge was spoiled, he didn't would to disgust the guest. This was going to be difficult. He didn't cook often, he wasn't sure how it would taste, if it even tasted at all. He should've never suggested his place, but he couldn't take back the offer even when he tried, Sae clearly ignored his last comment. He regained his composure, trying to smile his irritation and embarrassment off.

"In an apartment complex right by the woods. I didn't think you'd be so interested in getting to know me," he said, amused. Was he good at cooking? Even he didn't know, he knew the basics but he never really tasted the stuff he made. He shrugged, speaking in a playful tone, "Guess you'll find out." Sae seemed much friendlier than yesterday when he was threatening to bite Ryota's head off, the attitude change kind of scared him. Was he forcing himself to be nice? Why would he? Ryota already promised not to say a thing about him changing into a wolf, did he not trust him? He would understand why, he was a stranger after all. He sighed inwardly at the thoughts racing through his head, regaining his composure. "Let's go shall we? I'm freezing and don't want to stay out longer than I need to." He laughed, trying to seem genuine. He started walking in the direction of his home, walking at a slow pace in case Sae's leg hurt from walking.

Yes! I scored a visit to his apartment! Sae smiled a little, pleased with his small victory. He walks so slowly... Sae had easily passed Ryota, with a few strides, although he was clearly the smaller, and shorter of the two. The problem was, he didn't know where the apartment complex was, nor did he want to seem too eager.

"I didn't think you'd be so interested in getting to know me," Ryota said, in a slightly arrogant tone. Some of Sae's irritation returned. "I'm not," he snapped, instantly regretting his words. I'm supposed to be friendly! Friendly! Coughing, Sae tried to cover up the slip-up. "I-I mean, I'm very, very interested..." Sae stopped and turned around, a what he hoped was a realistic smile plastered on his face.

"U-um, so uh, what do you usually eat, for breakfast?" Sae struck up a conversation once more, thinking that he'd really like a nice egg omelette right now...

Sae walked past Ryota, causing him to pout. He didn't like moving around much in the morning, he was already pushing it by being up so early. He sped up a bit more, but not enough to walk past Sae. He wasn't motivated enough to pick up anymore speed. He was dragging his feet, rubbing his eyes with his hands. He yawned, covering his mouth. He had a feeling the morning was going to be long and tiring. He hoped the day wouldn't go by slower than a snail, he wasn't in the mood. But if he got the chance he'd just sleep the day away.

I'm not, snapped Sae. Ryota laughed at the mistake, it just showed how much more he was forcing himself to be friendly. Saw immediately tried to cover it up, but Ryota wasn't going to let it go. "How mean of you, pretending to actually be interested about me," he said in a dramatic tone, but he immediately started laughing at his attempt. "You don't have to be so fake with me. Why are you trying to be so over friendly. What are your hidden agendas? Hm?" His tone bro king more amused with the boy. He wanted to see his reaction at being caught in act.

Ryota shrugged, "Whatever is usually available for me to eat," he said in a calm voice. It was true, he never really was picky about what he ate if he ate at all. He smiled at the boy trying to make conversation, it was adorable how hard. he was pushing himself to look like he wa interested even though Ryota knew he wasn't. It didn't upset him, he didn't care about it at all. He would rather have Sae be real with him than be fake about his personality.

Ryota had pretended to be hurt by his comment... and now he was laughing. Sae sighed. A very big sigh. This guy is impossible... I give up. I'll just make sure he doesn't take back his offer of breakfast as his place. "Fine, I'm not interested in you. I'm just really hungry, and you're the perfect person to get food from." Sae rolled his eyes. "There. Happy? I'm being completely honest."

"Whatever is usually available for me to eat," Ryota said, replying to his question. "Well, I want an omelette." Sae demanded.

Ryota seemed to be really sleepy still. "Are you not used to waking up this early? Actually, I shouldn't be surprised. You look like the lazy type." Sae was back to his normal, rude side. The trees slowly cleared, and there, across the road was a large, sparkling apartment complex, obviously meant for those better off.

"Who are you that you can live in such a nice place?" Sae was taken aback.

Ryota starting snorting from laughing to hard, this guy was too much. "I'm extremely happy, I didn't enjoy that facade you were putting on, it was too forced. At least learn to be more natural about it if you want to fool me," he said after he calmed down. His attitude was adorable, the way he attempted insults. He could work with this, flirting wouldn't be too much of a challenge, he'd met people like this before. "I'm glad you are finally being honest, even if it is insulting me." He always shrugged off insults, he had plenty of them from his parents.

Well, I want an omelette, demanded the boy. Royota coughed at the tone, unhappy with the sudden demands. He knew how to make an omelette, but he didn't even know if he had eggs, he hoped he did. "I'll make you an omelette if you tell me more about your wolf-transformation-thingy," he said, trying to compromise. If he didn't have eggs he could always bother his neighbor for some and just return the favor later. He didn't like people demanding things of him but he was going to let that one slide if he got what he wanted out of it.

Are you not used to waking up this early? Actually, I shouldn't be surprised. You look like the lazy type, said the boy rudely. "Ouch. That hurt me Sae. What if I was working night jobs and this time in the morning was when I got off. Are you insulting me making a living for myself? How mean of you," he pouted. He really didn't mind the comment, he just wanted to tease the boy some more, trying to get a rise out of him.

Who are you that you can live in such a nice place? Sae seemed appalled by his apartment complex. He laughed, shrugging it off. "A nobody with some money. Prices are much cheaper if you know the person." He knew the landlord from his parents, when he moved out he was offered a place with cheap rent. He couldn't deny such a perfect offer, his only job was to help out cleaning the yard every now and then. He walked up the steps to his apartment door, searching for his keys in his pocket.

"I'm extremely happy, I didn't enjoy that facade you were putting on, it was too forced. At least learn to be more natural about it if you want to fool me." Ryota had said, seemingly without a care for the rude words that Sae had thrown at him. Staring a little, Sae wondered how this guy could be so easygoing. "Y-you're happy...?!" Sae observed Ryota. He seemed to be a normal, average guy. Just more attractive?

Sae forced his eyes away from Ryota's face, and demanded an omelette. I also want some inari sushi... Ryota's face turned thoughtful. And tried to compromise with Sae. ""I'll make you an omelette if you tell me more about your wolf-transformation-thingy," he had said. No, no, no! I'm trying to find out about your secrets! Not the other way around! "Hmph, that information is worth a lot more than an egg omelette. I'll do something else for you, anything but tell you!" Sae refused, unintentionally being too obvious that he wanted his secret protected.

Quickly trying to change the subject from his shifting abilities, Sae commented about Ryota's still sleepy eyes. The color of Ryota's eyes kept distracting Sae. They were a unique, icy blue, so cold, yet warm and friendly at the same time...

"Ouch. That hurt me Sae. What if I was working night jobs and this time in the morning was when I got off. Are you insulting me making a living for myself? How mean of you," Ryota spoke. Ahh, did I go too far? Sae was worried. He knew he was impulsive, and didn't think before speaking sometimes. "Er, I'm sorry, I didn't um, really mean it."

When they finally reached the apartment complex, Sae gaped at the sheer size, and immaculately sparkling exterior of it. After asking about it, Ryota replied, "A nobody with some money. Prices are much cheaper if you know the person." They walked up to Ryota's apartment, and Ryota looked for the keys, unlocking the door after five minutes of searching.

Stepping inside, Sae's sensitive smell immediately picked up on a familiar scent. It was the sharp and clean, spring like smell that he had caught a hint of after he transformed."It smells... nice..." Sae said. Is this what Ryota smells like...?

Ryota loved watching the boys reactions, he never got tired of them like he would in most people. He seemed to change an expression every other sentence that came from Ryota's mouth. Hmph, that information is worth a lot more than an egg omelette. I'll do something else for you, anything but tell you! Sae spoke in a desperate tone. The other boy felt a little guilted at how he reacted, but he really didn't want to back down on what he wanted. "Fine, it's either that or a kiss on the lips," he said too quickly to take back. He didn't mean to push it that far but he did. It was a natural habit to demand a kiss from people, usually getting what he wanted. He looked over, curious to see the boy's face after he said that.

After Ryota's comment about working night shifts, Sae piped up apologizing. Ryota frowned, he didn't mean to make the boy feel bad, he was just teasing him. Boo. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make you think it actually upset me. You didn't say anything wrong, I'm just too dramatic sometimes," he said brushing it off as nothing. He didn't realize Sae would actually apologize for something so easily, he thought the boy would've just given another snide remark.

Ryota finally opened the door after five minutes of looking for his keys, he really needed to get himself organized, that was embarrassing. He walked in, breathing in his favorite scent. He loved the outdoorsy smell he had obtained with a nice air freshener. It wasn't better than the real deal but it made up for what he wasn't able to achieve yet. It smells... nice... Sae said genuinely. Ryota puffed his chest, feeling as if he'd scored a point with the boy. "I may not look like it but I really enjoy nature scents, they are the best. Just make yourself at home while I make that omelette you demanded me to make," he said in a playful tone, sticking out his tongue. He slid off his shoes, setting them by his door, heading towards his kitchen.

"Fine, it's either that or a kiss on the lips," Ryota had said, after Sae blatantly refused to tell Ryota about his wolf side. Sae froze. What? But Ryota didn't take it back, or laugh it off as a joke. Sae silently followed Ryota into his apartment. It's just a kiss! Be a man! Sae's "manly" side was loud and clear. But a tiny voice in his head made him unsure, a little nervous. Clearing his throat, Sae tried to keep his expression neutral, seemingly indifferent. "I-it's just a-a, kiss, right?" He stuttered, voice unusually quiet. "But I get the omelet first." Sae said quickly, smiling awkwardly as if cracking a joke.

Entering Ryota's apartment, Sae looked around, eyes meeting a surprisingly clean and meticulously neat space. I thought he was the organized type since he couldn't find his keys very easily... Ryota slid of his shoes, and Sae did the same, following Ryota to the kitchen. The kitchen had the same, clean and organized feel to it as the room Sae first entered. The metal on the sink gleamed, and the floor was a blindingly bright white. "Do you actually know how to cook?" Sae asked a bit skeptically. While eveything looked nice and clean, it didn't look very... used.
