Yukio Takamiya
Steron grabbed Esben's hand, digging his shoes into the crevices of the pit's walls and attempting to pull him self up. "I'm sorry," he apologized,"I won't speak like that again." But what Esben said had some truth in it. He didn't really care about life, having not much purpose in it. But if Esben was going to come with him....maybe, just maybe, things would get better. Steron didn't know when he started to rely on the bear so much within such a short time but he didn't want them to be apart. When almost half his body was out of the pit, Steron used his other hand to push against the ground, hoisting the rest of his body up and placing his knees on the ground. From there, he looked up, intending to face the bear but the commotion behind Esben made him look past behind instead. "Um...Esben? Does that spell trouble?" He asked hesitantly, pointing in the direction of the angry mob ahead.
pandamonium
Esben gave a small smile. "I care for you. Never forget that. And maybe...you'll find something to live for. Can't hurt to try." He turned his attention to what Steron was looking at. He frowned. A little upset at having not noticed the commotion behind him. He turned his back towards Steron. Getting into a battle stance. "I'm not sure...but stay behind me. I'll protect you."
Yukio Takamiya
Steron allowed himself to look down at the ground awkwardly, trying to ignore the warm feeling that was rapidly rising in his chest. "Thank you," he managed a whisper. Steron tried not to let himself tear up at Esben's words. He watched the bear's back as he stood in front of him, ready to protect him from the foxes. Honestly, he found it ironic. At how his own fellow humans mocked and abused him. And at how, the first person who would care for him wasn't human, but a bear. How many times he wanted someone to help him when his peers hurt him, yet help never came. Steron had to learn to protect himself. Yet here was a bear, claiming that he would protect him. The mob came closer and Steron grew tense. If they were hostile, he hoped he'd at least be able to protect himself and not hold Esben back. Finally, the mob stopped a few metres away from them and a brown fox came up to the front. "State your name, where you hail from and your purpose for trespassing." pandamonium
Esben growled a warning. Did he stand a chance with this mob of foxes? He hoped so. He needed to protect Steron. The mob stopped. He lowered his guard a bit. What appeared to be the leader, stepped forward. He stood up tall. "Esben. Bear territory. Our purpose for trespassing is to seek help." He turned to Steron and looked back to the leader. "I need to help him return home. But I don't know how to help him. I thought your library or a wise fox would be able to help us." Yukio Takamiya
The foxes turned to look at each other, then they started to converse in a different language in which Steron didn't understand. What were they saying? Was something bad going to happen? Steron couldn't help feeling more uneasy as the moments passed. Unconsciously, his hand inched forwards and grabbed the end of Esben's shirt lightly. After a while, the brown fox came forward again. "If you don't mind us tying you up, just for security purposes. We'll take you to see our leader." Inwardly, Steron snorted. He didn't get what the big deal was. They were just two and the foxes were many. They could be apprehended immediately if they truly meant any harm. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
pandamonium
Esben tried not to fidget. This was nerve wrecking, to say the least. A little surprised by Steron holding his hands, it did help ease his nerves. Knowing that Steron was right beside him. Fighting a laugh, he sighed and stood still. Allowing them to draw closer towards them. This was ridiculous, but... he needed to help Steron. Even if it meant setting aside his pride and allowing these conceited beings to tie him up. Though, he did find it a bit much to tie up Steron.
Yukio Takamiya
As the one of the foxes came closer, Steron forced himself to stop trembling. If Esben was letting them tie him up, that meant that thing would go smoothly wouldn't they? He winced a little when the knot was tightened a little too tight but otherwise remained silent. The foxes herded them deeper into their territory, of which Steron realised there were multiple holes in the ground, covered with doors. Finally, they arrived at a particularly peculiar door, with intricately carved designs. The brown fox came forward and announced their arrival, very soon, the doors opened. Steron gulped at the sight of pure blackness of the hole, clenching his fists as he was made to ascend the stairs. The deeper they went, the brighter it got, Steron noticed lamps mounted on the walls. They were led through a series of hallways and turns before they finally arrived at a large room. pandamonium
Glancing over at Steron, he felt a pang of guilt at seeing him tied up, but...how else were they going to get help? As they were led inside the room, Esben couldn't help but admire the craftsmanship of the door and furniture. They were true artisans. An older fox sat in the far back. His silver heir and tail making him stand out amongst the others. "For what reason are they here?" he asked softly. His voice a bit raspy.
Yukio Takamiya
The brown fox stepped forward, bowing in respect to the elder, as did the other foxes. " According to the....our guests," the fox begin. Steron knew he wanted to say 'intruders' and almost snorted with disdain. "This queer one here desires to go home with our help." They weren't very polite were they? Steron held back the urge to glare at the fox. It had long become a habit for him to fight back when someone messed with him. And right now, that habit was resurfacing. For Esben's sake though, he held back his temper. Steron looked at the older fox, anticipating his reply. pandamonium
Esben bit back a growl. For being somewhat social creatures, they lacked basic manners. It's as they never bothered to learn, but this was no time to critique another's culture, they had important matters to address and little time. When the brown fox finished speaking, the elder gave a small nod. "I see...there may be a useful book in our archive. I remember reading of a similar story when I was young. But it comes with a price."
