Nyuchanxx
Name: Akio Surname: Fujimoto Age: 29 Profession: Lecturer and doctor at the local university, one of the best in the country --------------------------------------------------- Akio began packing up his papers as he dismissed the class. It had been a long day of research that hadn't exactly gone to plan, so much so in fact that he was truly relieved when he looked at his watch and realised it was nearly time for him to take this class. But it hadn't been nearly long enough, he now had only an hour to wash and eat before he had to go to the clinic and actually be a doctor for a few hours. He sighed, this had not been his plan, it was all fine until a few months ago when the university decided to try and really pull in new undergraduate students and one of their plans for medical students was to give them free health care at the university clinic which was renowned for being one of the best in the city. Unfortunately that had meant that any new lecturers had to also work part time there and having only been lecturing a year that task fell upon Dr Fujimoto. Walking out of the lecture theatre Akio headed to the clinic. Inside the clinic he headed straight to the changing rooms and rapidly stripping himself of his suit he got into the shower and washed his hair and cleaned himself down. He let the water wash over himself for a bit before he forced himself to get out and change into a different shirt and trousers before pulling his lab coat on and heading to his room. Shutting the door he checked the time again. A solid twenty minutes before he was due to be working, that was a bit of time at least to look over some of the results from earlier and stuff something inside himself. Akio ate quickly before sticking his memory stick into the computer and loading up his data. He switched between typing and calculating for the next twenty minutes until his first patient walked in. Exellda
Name: Skyler Donovan Age: 20 Profession: Currently looking Skylar was new to this university. He had transferred from his home town university this year after deciding that it wasn't the right fit for him. He was technically a sophomore right now. When he was in high school, he graduated at 18 and then hopped right into college. Waiting was not for him. Something in his gut told him that it was now or never. He felt he wouldn't get the chance to go to college if he didn't do it now. Skylar was the kind of guy whom liked to do things on his own. He liked challenges within reason. He was the kind of guy who liked to have fun yet study hard, he was a quick learner. Mostly, besides ambition, he had passion for learning. That's why he was here. After getting some core classes out of the way, Skylar realized that he had interest in the medical field. It was a bonus because he was actually good in the medical field. Skylar was beginning to think that this was what he was meant to do. And thanks to his good grades throughout high school, he had little to no issues transferring over to this private, elite university. Why wouldn't he invest in the best university? Well, while it was quick and easy to transfer over, unfortunately he had missed a whole week and a half of classes. Personally, Skylar hated missing class. Perfect attendance was key. Because he had missed so much, he knew he would have a lot to catch up on and Skylar was okay with that. It was a simple challenge that he knew he could easily accomplish. And... If he was not mistaken, he should be well taken care of considering he would be advised and taught by an elite professors. He looked forward to all of the knowledge he would learn, yet slightly dreaded all of the work and homework that would more than likely present itself... As of now, Skylar was still unpacking. He was renting an apartment due to the fact that he did not wish to live on campus. It was impeccable that he now had free healthcare. This was a great advantage for him and allowed him to save some money and put it aside. He would definitely invest in that free healthcare, especially if he needed it. But for now, he was healthy albeit tired from unpacking. He wanted to go to bed early, as for him, his classes started tomorrow.
Nyuchanxx
Akio was back in the university by eight the next morning. He had a class to teach at nine and some papers to mark that would need to be handed back. Sitting in his office the professor placed his coffee to thee side hoping he was awake enough to mark these papers, he hadn't gotten home until midnight the previous night and having to get up at six for the fourth day in a row wasn't doing him any favours. Yawning he took another sip of his coffee and started marking. He finished marking with five minutes until his lecture. Grabbing his things he ran to the lecture theatre, hating that some people were there already, he really didn't like being late. Getting out his things he looked at his notes for today and was surprised to notice that they had a new student joining them. He would have to offer to talk to the student at some point to help them catch up or at least give them the page references. He sighed knowing that he had very little time already and that time had just gotten less. As the theatre began to fill Akio tried to work out who the new student was but he failed miserably, he could have picked out a dozen that it could have been and the real person still might not have been one of them, he hadn't been teaching these students long enough to actually know them by face. He would just have to ask to talk to the new student afterwards.
Exellda
After unpacking almost everything, Skylar decided to give up for the night. He only unpacked necessities like kitchen supplies, toiletries, clothes and everything that he would need to make his bed for the night. Later, once he had that all done, he took a shower, got some pajamas on and then promptly went to bed. He really needed the rest because his morning was going to start early. The next morning he woke up at the early hour of six in the morning. While he didn't necessarily need to wake up that early, Skylar was naturally an early riser. Since he had gotten up so early he had plenty of time to get ready and eat breakfast. Skylar was excited as well as impatient to go to class because he was looking forward to all of the material he would be learning. Finally, when it was time, Skylar went to class. He ended up being there thirty whole minutes early and no one was there yet. So Skylar made a bee-line for the front row. There were too many distractions if he sat in the back. No, he was the kind of guy whom came to class and actually paid attention. He didn't sleep during class and he didn't want to be distracted from he would be learning. He was hoping to talk to the professor both about his attendance as well as the material he would need to cover to catch up. Throughout the class he had made eye contact with the professor, maybe three times..? He wished he could tell the professor telepathically about his dilemma and the fact that he was new... Perhaps the professor already knew? Much to his dismay, the professor didn't arrive until class was about to begin. This frustrated Skylar because he didn't get to talk to the professor before class... But no worries, he had time between this class and next class. He would talk to the professor after class. For now, as class progressed, he wrote vivid notes. Skylar was the kind of guy whom didn't like to fail, thus his attention was on full blast whilst he was learning. He wouldn't accept no less than an A in any of his course. That was his goal. Sometimes he even went as far as to do extra credit, especially if he felt he deserved it. Nyuchanxx
When the minute ticked around to the hour Akio decided that he might as well start, any late comers would just have to try and catch up with the missing bits from the beginning. He held the view that if you weren't on time that was your own fault and the class shouldn't wait. To be fair on them though there were times when Akio was nearly late but he never actually was and he always started the lecture before the first minute in had ticked by, it was something he held in very high regards. As he taught he couldn't help but make eye contact with the male sitting on the front row a couple of times. He was of medium height and stature with soft brown hair and light green eyes. Akio didn't think he recognised him but he wasn't sure, maybe that was the new student, but then it could just be that he was extra attentive. It was hard to tell. When the time was up the professor dismissed them all saying "Thank you, if you could all come and get your papers on the way out, and could I also speak to..." He paused briefly to look at his notes "Skyler Donovan please." He smiled before the students began to file out and Akio tried desperately to find the right paper for each student as he did. He was sure there was a better way of doing this then just getting them to bombard him but calling out their names would also take too long so this would have to do. When he had eventually gotten all the students papers distributed there was only one student left in the classroom. Akkio sighed and removed his glasses, cleaning them quickly before turning to the male. t was the one from the front row. He smiled and offered his hand to shake. "Hi, apologies I couldn't speak to you before the lecture, my names Akio Fujimoto."
Exellda
As the class went on, Skylar found that he liked listening to his professor. Such spectacular material. His professor seemed to be very, very intelligent and Skylar appreciated him a lot. Everything the professor said he took note of. Skylar felt that he would gain a lot from his professor. Skylar was actually a bit excited to learn under this man. The way his voice echoed, his confidence, posture, knowledge... This was indeed a very intelligent man who knew what he was talking about. Not to mention handsome. However, but the end of the lecture and whilst things were wrapping up, Skylar heard his name called. Great. So it would seem that they were on the same page. He would be able to talk to his professor albeit after class... But whatever, he had plenty of time between now and the next class. He would gladly stay after. Plus, he really wanted to make sure he could take advantage of getting any assignments that he could, turned in, and if need be, invest in tutoring. Which, judging by how this class went, he would say that being tutored by his professor sounded like a good deal. So Skylar waited patiently whilst he watched his professor frantically pass out papers to the other students. When everyone finally left after receiving their papers, Skylar approached his professor with a pleased smile. He gladly shook his hand, properly greeting his professor. "No, no, the pleasure's all mine... Skylar Donovan, at your service." No really, his professor seemed phenomenal. It almost felt like an honor to meet him... And his name, oh, it rang a bell in the back of Skylar's mind... As if he was supposed to know who this man was. "Thank you for talking to me after class." After they shook hands Skylar adjusted his bag, "I was hoping that I could ask what your policy was on overdue assignments? I realize that I have missed over a week's worth of material. So I was also hoping that I could do something to compensate..?" He suggested, "I will accept extra assignments if necessary. Perhaps tutoring, if need be. I promise I am a diligent student." He said, hoping that his professor was lenient, yet stern. Now he had a close up of his master, he realized that he really was quite handsome... and so young! Again there was a bell that rang in the back of his mind. He mentally cursed himself because he felt like he should know this ?guy, as if he was really, really important. Ugh, but who? Who was he..? Or who did this man remind Skylar of? Eh, he would soon find out.
Nyuchanxx
Fujimoto smiled at the other, the young male seemed confident in himself and that impressed him, most students that arrived late were constantly apologising and feeling bad, not to mention too quiet and didn't help themselves by not trying to catch up as quickly as possible. This looked like it would be different. The student before him looked like he knew what he wanted to do and had every intention of doing anything and everything to manage it. For a first impression this male was doing very well. The other had a nice voice, soft and warm but in control, he was dressed smartly as well which boded well in Fujimoto's eyes, he had little time for people that dressed in old worn out clothes and dirty shoes just because they couldn't be bothered to find nice things to put on. "We haven't covered that much material yet, after all this is only the first week of the first term so people are still settling in but there are a number of important things that you should know." He glanced at the clock quickly to make sure he knew the time, the lecture had been the best part of two hours and now it was approaching eleven thirty. He had to be at the labs in twenty minutes if he had any hope of getting access to the autopsy results that came in from a patient yesterday and then if he was really lucky he might get to examine it himself. It had been his patient who had highly developed cancer, there had been nothing they could do but then the patient still shouldn't have died as soon as then and he wanted to know why. Looking at the records there had been a previous diagnosis of multiple personality disorder but supposedly that had been solved with a series of therapy sessions, Fujimoto wasn't convinced though and wanted to look at the postmortem and the patients neural tissue. He ran a hand through his hair pushing the strands that had fallen from the ponytail back before saying "I have to rush off now to do some research but I have some time after lunch or..." He paused, he wasn't likely to get out of the examination until two in the afternoon which left him an hour and a half for lunch and to talk to Skylar if he was available then. Then at four he had to go to the surgery and run his own shift there which wouldn't end until six if he was lucky. He sighed, unfortunately that might be the easiest time to do it, the rest of his shifts at the hospital this week were late night ending and he wanted to spend as much time as he could in the research labs before he lost his access to the materials due to cremation or whatever the patients family had been complaining about. "I am free after six thirty as well so if you come to my office at either of those times I am sure we can go over some things." He contemplated giving the student his home address and telling him to got there around seven but that felt wrong even if he didn't want to be in the university till so late at night. He felt terrible for leaving the other with so little options and normally he would have forced the time but then previously he had had slightly more time but the university policies now meant that he had hardly any time to do his own research and even less to tutor students. It really annoyed him but there was nothing he could do about it, he hadn't exactly been lecturing here long. "I'm really sorry, the new policies around here mean I have very little time but if neither of those times work then I can drop you an email with all the content we have done and a number of essays I would like you to do and then if there is something you don't understand you can find me and I can help you." He would really rather do this in person since it was such crucial stuff for the rest of the course and the male in front of him was so sincere and nice that he felt terrible. But still he couldn't change his timetable.
Exellda
Watching his professor closely, he noted how he glanced towards the clock. Mr. Fujimoto seemed to be a very bust man. Skylar listened intently, noting the options he had. To be honest, he already knew what he was going to pick. Weighing the options, Skylar knew that if he received online material it would be the quickest route. However, he felt that he would miss some exciting material if he did that. No, the student wished for something more. And he was willing to do a little more, to receive a little more. So Skylar stood there for a moment, as if contemplating what option he would pick. Because his professor looked to be in a rush, he wouldn't keep him too long. He nodded to himself before saying, "How about after 6:30, then? That seems like the best time." Since Skylar was knew, he had yet to memorize all the finer details of this school. He wasn't aware of how busy his professor would be. Quiet frankly, he almost felt bad for the man. "I'm sorry for being a nuisance... How about I buy you dinner, you know? For your time." He suggested, wanting to ease the other male's potential stress from work. "Although you'll have to pick the place as I am fairly new to the area. Oh, I mean, if that's okay with you, Professor Fujimoto." Skylar said, then smiled. Sometimes he was a little too forward with his advances. He wouldn't lie about what he 'liked'. Even if he lacked in experience... In most departments. He saw nothing wrong with his offer as he was simply trying to help, yet get the information he needed. Whatever else he gained from this experience would be a bonus... If it went that far. Now Skylar would say if his action was pure or not, that was up for the professor to decide. After all, he had offered the deal as innocently as he could. However, laid some subtle hints for the professor as well. Hopefully he would catch on. If not, then Skylar would either take it as a no, or perhaps that his professor was oblivious. Either way, Skylar really wanted to catch up on his work, regardless of the offer. Even though he was younger, he could tell that Professor Fujimoto was very intelligent. Such a cunning man surely had interests? This made Skylar curious as to why Fujimoto would take on this job. Ugh, and still he felt like he should know the name! Yet he couldn't put his finger on it. "What do you say..? I can stop by your office later if you would like."
Nyuchanxx
Fuijimoto nodded glad that he would have the chance to tutor the male, he thought the other looked intelligent but he wasn't sure he would totally comprehend everything that was being told to him after all he taught one of the more complex sides of medical science - neurobiology. Already he was planning just how he was going to manage everything today, it looked like he would have time for a lunch assuming he didn't just stay in the labs through until he had to be at the surgery which wasn't totally out of the question, but if he did that he wasn't likely to eat more than a bar of chocolate until late evening. He knew he would have to leave the labs but he didn't like that he did. He was surprised when the other suggested dinner, it wasn't such a terrible idea in fact. That way he could learn some more about this male and why he had entered late, he had to admit he was intrigued by the man in front of him. Quickly deciding he agreed with a smile "Great idea, I imagine I will be famished by then by so I won't make you pay." He laughed amused, he knew students didn't have a lot of money and yet for some reason this one was offering to pay normally students went out of their way to get others to pay for their food, drinks, clothes, anything really just to save some money. "If that is the case, then how about you meet me at the main entrance of the university complex, that way neither of us have to wander around in circles." He had to admit he was starting to find Skylar very easy to talk to and he liked that in a person. Glancing at the clock again he said "I really have do have to run but how about a curry house, I know a very good one nearby but if you don't like that then we can discuss it later." He smiled although he was getting a little restless he really needed to leave or he would never manage to get access until after all the idiotic oncologists got there and started looking for massive tumours in the brain and destroying it. Just the thought pissed him off. He knew he was rushing the other but he made his mind up to leave. "Nice meeting you, I look forward to dinner." He smiled though it was just a pleasantry and never reached his eyes "Sorry I have to dash off." he said before turning on his heel and throwing the satchel over his shoulder before he practically rn out of the room towards the labs. Exellda
Skylar nodded in delight that he could 'help' his professor out and in return he would be receiving a grand tutor. Even if he was a college student, he considered himself to be fairly financially stable. In fact, he was happy he could provide for his professor. It was the least he could do, it was the nice thing to do. Skylar was a respectable guy. Plus, he thought that befriending the professor would be the quickest and easiest way to get his work done... And maybe even a few other benefits, like extra credit... Not only that, he would also get to know the surrounding area, the city they were in a whole lot better. Maybe he would be able to find other places to eat and perhaps hang out areas too. "Alright, that sounds good, professor. I'll meet you there." He said quickly, noticing how the other male looked to be in a rush to get somewhere. He could ask about it later. "Have a nice day." And with that, the professor was gone. After that. Skylar had some time to walk around the prestigious university. He had only been able to visit once and immediately fell in love on the first visit. He knew that this was where he wanted to be, where he needed to be. Somehow Skylar felt that this was the perfect place for him. It seemed ideal. Healthcare included, advanced technology, excellent (and attractive) professors... What more could he want? Skylar had about an hour and a half to lounge around today, and look around the university. He easily found the cafeteria, where food was being served. Glancing at his watch, it was 11:30 now... Suppose he could have an early lunch. He would be able to enjoy his food because he didn't have another class until 1 in the afternoon. So Skylar grabbed his lunch and then found a quiet spot to sit by himself. He didn't need the nuisance of other people right now. No, Skylar preferred the quietness that surrounded him when he ate alone. That, and he had a low tolerance for stupid people. However, because he was attending this university, he would doubt that there were any stupid people here... Although there was always that chance. So rather than confront it and confirm the notion, Skylar simply nullified it by sitting by himself. He could at least tolerate loneliness. After all, in high school he was considerately anti-social with man of his peers, as he did not condone their immaturity. Nonetheless... College was different. Everyone was on a new level. Intelligence was evident. There was nothing that attracted Skylar more than an intelligent man... And Professor Fujimoto was not hard on the eyes and it would seem that his intelligence was on another level... Skylar couldn't help but appreciate the fact that he would be tutored by such an elite man. If he had known any better... That name sounded very familiar... As if he read it somewhere... It was very unlike Skylar to forget something seemingly so important... Perhaps he would have to do some research later. It utterly bugged him that he could not remember. In fact, he almost felt that he was indirectly insulting the other male... Well no matter. He would not worry about that just yet... No, he would worry about his other classes that he had to catch up... After he was done eating. Skylar was sitting next to a window, set for a table for two. His eyes glanced at the empty seat in front of him, mind briefly wondering if he would ever find someone to fill that seat... Then he shook his head, as if he was stupid... That idea itself was... A ridiculous thought that shouldn't have ever crossed his mind. He supposed it was because he could get lonely sometimes... But it wasn't worth the hassle to think about. This was why he always had his mind sucked into his work, to distract himself. He didn't need the distraction. He was single for a reason... Nyuchanxx
Rushing into his office Fujimoto grabbed the patient reports from the draw, he had been looking over them this morning and although he wasn't technically allowed to take them out of the clinic he had photocopied them quickly and slipped the photocopies in his bag when no one was watching. He wanted to make certain that he knew what he was looking for and what, if anything, didn't make sense with the previous records. He half ran half speed walked to the labs, smiling as he entered thee door and realised that he was the first one there that wanted anything to do with the brain. The rest of them were cutting open various parts of the patient and using it for more data into research unrelated to the death. Behind the glass screens he pulled on some gloves and a mouth mask and watched as the rest of the doctors in various parts of biology finished their work and left. As he waited he read through the autopsy; nothing out of the ordinary, claimed the patient just died due to the tumour, possibly the tumour weakened the body and the immune system couldn't cope with a virus. Nothing they could be bothered to test for, a fact that Fujimoto was relieved for. When they all left Fujimoto entered the sterile environment, the body lay upon the bench covered in a sheet. He pulled the sheet back. Not for the first time he was reminded exactly why he dehumanised patients as soon as they died. As soon as their heart stopped they were no longer male or female, husband or wife, mother or daughter. No once they stopped breathing they were a body, just it. He couldn't help but see the irony, when he was a student he had always felt disparaging of the poem by Auden when "they lay her on the table and the students began to laugh". He thought it cruel that they didn't see her as human any more, that they only saw the tumour, saw her as a sample. He had hated the students that thought that way. But now....now he had learnt. He had seen it rapidly as well, it had only taken him a couple of months to realise that his patients were only human as long as they breathed, if he thought of them like that afterwards he could not work, no one could. One would go insane. So when they died they were just an it. Picking up the scalpel he made in incision into her scalp ready to remove the brain. A couple of hours passed as he talked to the microphone, meticulously speaking exactly what he saw. Taking small samples here and there to be tested later and photography various parts. He had gotten quite a lot of information but he still needed another half hour at least when a man in a neatly ironed suit walked in. Fujimoto paid no attention but then he walked in. He was halfway through a sentence when the door opened and the man said "Sorry, time is up I have permission to take over this body." His words cut straight through the young doctors as the man pushed a piece of paper towards him. An oncologist. He wanted to swear. This man was high up too, he thought he had priority here since it was his patient and he was one of the few neurologists in the department doing anything like this. This man blatantly got millions from the government for his work though. Anger coursed through him. as he packed up his things carefully picking up any samples so he could hand them in to be tested. "Have a nice day, hope I haven't disrupted your work." He said in a sarcastic icy tone but the male just smiled as he pulled on a lab coat "Thank you for your concern I am sure I can work around all this." His smile pissed Fujimoto off as he left the room. It was 1530; he had half an hour. He could eat on the way he decided as he headed to the clinic eating a sandwich as he walked and mulling over his findings. ------------------------------------------------ When six thirty came the professor was standing by the main entrance waiting. He had tried very hard to get out of the clinic in time and had only just made it but he found himself pleasantly looking forward to dinner, he was starving and he thought Skylar seemed nice. He was certainly very pretty, in fact just his type. He hadn't noticed earlier since he had been in such a rush and focused on other things but now that he thought back on it those lovely green eyes and the sweet look on his face just made him want to take it all away. Suddenly realising what he was thinking the male shock the thought away and looked up at the sky switching to safer topics, such as nurturing his anger for that man earlier.
