Yukio Takamiya
Name: Quoran Age: 20 Gender: Male Orientation: Homosexual Position: Seke Species: Shape shifter (any feline) Abilities: As a human, he uses multiple swords but is also proficient at hand to hand combat. Once he transforms, his strength and speed are according to the feline he changes into. Acute sense of smell. Rank: General Country: Hazradan Description: White long hair, fringe and hair at the sides are short. Mauve coloured eyes, pupils narrow and expands depending on the distance he looks from. Likes: Winter, preferrably blizzards. Running(his animal instincts), felines, adventures Dislikes: Heat, armor, stupid individuals(annoyingly dense), humans (because he can't stand being used by them but rebelling is not an option because of numbers) Personality: Hot-tempered and holds grudges easily. He hates losing and is incredibly stubborn. Once his mind is made up, no one can persuade him otherwise but that has never came back to bite him in the ass. Short bio: As a child, Quoran has never known family love. The king found him one day in a random forest while hunting and took him in. The moment he entered human environment, he went through harsh training to become a warrior going against the 200 years feud with another country. Only the rulers knew of his origin and soon other shape shifters were recruited. Shape shifters were ranked captains leading different squads. But of course, even their fellow soldiers never knew what they were. In their human forms, shape shifters possess superior physiques. But Quoran was the strongest being able to shape shift into multiple forms, thus ranked general to lead the army at the battle front. -------------------------- Quoran stepped into the throne room of the castle and knelt on one knee upon the red carpet in front of his king. Head bowed, he spoke," My King, I have come by your summon. What need do you have of me?" It was always like this. Every dirty errand that the king found was too hard for humans, Quoran was made to do it. The lives of humans were more precious than the shape shifters who protected them. They believed that shape shifters were too strong to die and that they would never have to face danger. Quoran wanted to see, what this king would now make him do. Juliano Loren lifted a hand and gestured for every other personnel except Quoran to leave. His eyes then moved to the man below, his face never betraying his emotions, stayed emotionless."The mission this time is a little different. No more patrols or checking of houses for enemies. Venture into enemy grounds and sniff around like the animal you are. I expect valuable information. Failure is unacceptable from my best soldier, take any of the captains as you please." Quoran clenched his fists at the insult that the king himself hadn't seemed to realise he had thrown. Animal huh? Quoran could suppose that it was in a way true. It seems that the king has no more need for his general. Sending him into enemy territory without knowing what to expect, it was basically courting death. Regardless of his displeasure, he placed his right fist on his left chest in a soldier's salute and left for the barracks. Quoran arrived at the barracks and opened the door of the canteen where the soldiers were having their meals. All of them looked up from their meals in shock, they're general had never joined them for meals before let alone even stepped into the canteen. "Meeting for the captains," he announced and left. The soldiers behind continued with what they were doing, relieved that nothing was out of the ordinary. The captains stood up one by one and proceeded towards the conference room where Quoran sat waiting. The shape shifters were considerably closer in relationship and they were the only people that Quoran had ever spoken to other than the king. When the captains had all arrived, sitting lazily in their chairs, Quoran finally took off his firm mask and placed his elbows on the table while rubbing his eyes tiredly. "Why the stress, general?" Lazak who was beside him asked while giving him a firm clap on the back. He was the closest to Quoran despite all of them being friends since he was taken in right after Quoran. Quoran ignored his friend and looked back up at the other who were chatring amongst themselves. "The next mission will be going into enemy lands," the room fell into dead silence. "I shall only take three of you with me, everyone else will stay. This mission is very dangerous and I won't risk anybody's life. We are to gather information on the enemy and-" he was cut off by Lazark. "I'm definitely going and so will Feris and Zion right?" Lazark said unsmilingly. Said people nodded and Quoran spoke,"then I guess its decided. I leave the army in the hands of the remaining captains. Dismissed." On the way out, Quoran, Lazark, Feris and Zion all received 'good luck' and 'be careful' comments from the captains. The next day, they were set to leave. He was Iesan's role model. It just happened to be one day that the coming of the mission had reaped him of his brother, his only family. He found himself promising him without another thought that he would take his place, and avenge him. I shift in my seat looking down at the documents displayed in front of me, tapping the point of the pen on the polished mahongy beneath the papers. It's always the same. The training hasn't changed at all. It's been like this for twenty five years since i've been here. I'll have to change it myself then. We won't get anywhere if it stays the same. The enemy is already catching onto how we work with our soldiers. A soft knock comes from outside the door of my quarters. I mentally sigh, organizing the papers and firmly placing my hands on the desk. "Come in." The door slowly creaks open and I get a whiff of a sensual smell. Human. The soldier moves into the middle of the room placing his hand to his forehead to form a admirable salute. "General Iesan, I have a message to pass onto you." I nod in his direction watching him stiffen as I narrow my eyes at his stance. "General Rise has summoned you to his quarters." I raise an eyebrow. "Is that all?" "Yes sir, I will take my leave now." He gives me a salute before turning on his heel and leaving the dimmed room. I stand up, taking off my cap parting my hair with my fingers and fixing it. I'll have to go to see Rise then. ----------- Iesan makes his way to Rise's chambers, knocking at the sound of voices on the other side of the door. The room becomes silent, footsteps skimming across the floor. The door swings open. "Iesan! Just the person I want to see!" He ushers him in closing the door behind both of them. "You're giddy as usual." Iesan's remark earns a chuckle from Rise. He raises the cup of coffee, grinning at Iesan. Iesan scoffs at his childhood friend, "I have work to do. What did you want to talk about?" Ignoring the presence of the other two men in the corner. "Iesan..." He trails off, staring at the darkened pools in his cup. "I have a feeling that we need to put our soldiers on the front line soon." Rise's expression begins to fade. Iesan sighs aloud, " Rise, you know we can't. They've been only training for about 3 weeks compared to those who have been here for 5 years. Whatever your fae clairvoyance says you need to put that aside. We're not risking their lives." "Please, Isean trust me. When have I ever been wrong?" He looks into my eyes for a change of heart, and I give in. "We'll do what needs to be done then." Rise smiles, and nods to the two soldiers to report to the other generals of the upcoming plan.
Yukio Takamiya
The four shape shifters brought no weapons with them. Mounting horses, they rode for three days only stopping to rest at night. Quoran spent those nights strategising and briefing the captains of their plan to infiltrate Dagliussau. The plan was simple but well calculated. They would enter the country as travelling physicians, that way, they could avoid suspicion and even be welcomed warmly. According to information gathered in the past, new soldiers were recruited around this time of the year. That was their only chance to infiltrate the military where they could start their mission. On the fourth day, Quoran, Lazark, Feris and Zion arrived at the port city. They were due to leave the next day on a merchant's ship after much negotiation on Quoran's part. The merchants had tried to squeeze as much benefits as they could out of the four men. Despite his growing annoyance, Quoran maintained a calm front as best as he could and agreed to their terms. To treat any illness or injury without payment. That was no problem since the voyage would last at most four days. They had been trained and taught the basic knowledge of healing. Despite that, the head merchant still had the gall to demand payment from them. Quoran had gritted his teeth, shrugged of Lazark's hand on his shoulder and offered the merchant a small pouch of gold which the merchant had gleefully snatched away. The voyage was peaceful and Quoran was thankful for that. Their mission didn't commence until they had successfully infiltrated the military. Assuming that they succeeded, the rest of the operation should move on as planned unless something unexpected cropped up. Quoran could just picture his king's disdain at that. He would no doubt be dismissed or executed along with his captains for failure. Quoran hated the humans with a passion. They reproduced like rabbits and tainted the world with their greed and ostentatious attitudes. Not to mention, they didn't know how to resolve conflicts without war. Of course, they didn't care about that. They had the shape shifters to protect them. Shape shifters were the ones dying as consequence of their stupidity, not the humans themselves. Finally, the ship docked at the port city of Dagliussau. The four of them got off the ship where several guards stood waiting below. After revealing their fake identities and claiming to have come with the merchants, the guards let them through. Lazark let out a large sigh once they checked into an inn. "We're finally here. Man those guards were intrusive," he said slumping down into a chair and stretching his limbs. "Lower your volume Lazark, are you trying to let the whole world know?" Zion whispered fiercely. Lazark clapped a hand over his mouth and shot Quoran an apologetic look. Quoran waved it off and removed his cloak. "Rest well everyone,"he said. "We're going to apply as new soldiers tomorrow. One way or another, get yourselves recruited without raising suspicion. And I meant that by controlling your speed and strength," he paused then continued. "If anyone fails to pass the entry tests, I would have to reconsider my judgement on posting you as a captain." "Tch, how cold. Relax Quoran, getting in wouldn't be a problem. We can control our strength just fine," Feris said nonchalantly. "If that's all, I shall retire to my room next door,"he waved and left the room. Lazark and Zion followed to go to their rooms. Quoran sat on the hard bed and laid his head on the pillow. It was uncomfortable despite the room being the inn's best, his bed was much better. But Quoran didn't mind, he was used to sleeping on rocky forest floors which were much worst than this. The next day, Quoran dressed himself in a simple tunic and pants before heading out of his room with his baggage. The four shape shifters had a huge breakfast which made people stare at the amount. As shape shifters, they had large appetites to fill their bodies with energy should they ever go for a run. Their bodies could store the energy food gave them, only getting hungry should their energy run out which was a given for their unlimited stamina. Leaving the inn, they headed for the barracks where the recruitment was held.
ramentan
The lighting of the hallways were illuminating the surface of the slicked floors. It never ceased to be anywhere near unclean. Only that of a restless wind could sneak it's way into the corridors, and seemingly tease the glow of the torches that aligned on both sides of the walls. Never was it a bother to those who were on watch at night hours. Guarding the doors and inspecting anything that seemed out of the ordinary. Only had the soldiers reclaimed their hours of sleep. It wouldn't seem longer than it was supposed to, but then again, It was the norm for the out spoken-ed night. Iesan found it better to go at this time than any other. The building wasn't busy and full of vexatious humans, and meetings were held accordingly around these hours. Considering the fact that Rise's "plan" could take a toll on our untrained soldiers. We'll have to see what the other higher-ups think of this before any of that happens. I won't be surprised if they have a hard time agreeing or even having a second thought on it. Rise had said he'd only mention it, but I hardly believe that. He's too distressed to go for a no from the other superiors. ------------------------ Flashback "We'll do what needs to be done then." with that, the two men walked off losing no time to leave the rooms tension. Silence loomed over us in an intoxicating way, feeding off the pressure in the enclosed room. I shift in my seat, watching Rise with an unamused expression. He turns away from my gaze only to take another sip from his drink. "You're the first person I talked to about this directly." "I have no doubt about that, but what made you think that this won't hurt us in any way?" His lips form in a plain line. Noting at his stress. " I'm not blindly going off from what i've perceived, and i'm definitely not over ruling it from what could happen. I'm informing you and taking precautions. If that's so bad. why did you indirectly agree? Ah, that's right...." I trust you wholly, and professing to the others about this claim won't get us anywhere but five rejections. Even in my position, I can't abuse the power I have. You should know that already." "Unfortunately, my goal now is to mention it at the moment. If there may be any way to conclude what we talked about then you can do just that at the meeting." He finishes his coffee with that statement, setting it on the stained glass cover of the table. I watch his strained expression leave his face as he deeply sighs, finally finding a something to observe across the room. His eyes rest on a vase, interest dwelling on it's structure and design. I follow his eyes resting on the puce rose in the middle of it's arrangement. Rise, I can give you trust, but I can't make others trust you the way I do. Please understand that. Generals Meeting He passed the guards that gave their proper recognition towards him. Nodding, he continues walking, reading over the salient papers in his hands. The time slips by and he reaches to a stop, grasping at the doorknob, and turning it. Eyes follow his every move as he settles in his chair and coincidentally farther away from Rise. "Since General Iesan is here. We will start the meeting." General Segios, and General Ignis both stand to present on their behalf for the topic of the meeting. They only rambled on about the functions of the rules, and the time of training the soldiers. Really, Time is not in our favor at the moment. I glance at Rise from the corner up my eye who is relaxing in his seat. He must have already mentioned it I guess. No need for me to say anything I suppose. The rustling of papers are halted by a proposal from the third leading general in charge, Erai. "Since we lack experienced soldiers. Why not recruit those who are willing, and have had some experience. Fast learners would be accommodated." That's not bad actually. The five men whispered amongst each other. I lean my head on the side of my fist holding up my weight, looking to each conversing men, and lastly at Rise. Our eyes meet briefly before he promptly stands to walk over to me. As he nears toward me, I smile. "I see you mentioned our conversation, yes? And they didn't think you were crazy?" Rise rolls his eyes. "Yes, and yes they think i'm a complete nutjob. They're considering it. What do you think about recruiting more soldiers? We might just get the upper hand if this works out well." I look down at my polished boots, straightening my cap at his question. "I think it's an option. I agree with it that's for sure." Rise pats me on the back. The mumbling over the men in front of us stops, and only the sounds of exchanging of papers are echoed throughout the room. Rise quickly returns to his seat, and my eyes fixated on the paper that is handing over to me. "Rise, and Iesan will be at the recruitment barracks. The rest of you will be writing different tests that will be held during the recruitment." Rise and I nodded towards the fourth leading general as did the rest. "Now in all agreement. We will sign this paper to show we have come to terms with the ideal planning. You may pass the papers to person to the right of you once you're done. This meeting is now finished." I quickly signed my paper, and passed it down. Without further a do, I said my goodbyes, and left. Rise trailed behind me after I was halfway to my room. His footsteps coming into sync with mine. "Ah, i'm so relieved. They listened to me. It's too bad that you weren't there." Iesan turns his head to the side to look at Rise from behind him. "You spoke your mind. I'd say that's good enough." "Ah, true." Both friends part ways and go to their quarters, finding rest in their beds and eventually falling asleep. -------------- The sun dips in between the curtains, shallowly grazing at the pale skin that is shown in between the covers of the blankets. Soft linen is pushed aside once Iesan finally regains consciousness. Hazy eyes stare up at the ceiling, then glancing at solely away to look at the time. 9:47-he rests the back of his hand to his forehead, breathing in deeply. The sun selfishly taking more of his features. 'The morning happens to be more comforting,' he thought. Grabbing the sheets with calloused fingers, he gets up and manages a resting position on the side of his bed. Neatly folded clothes from last night is taken up from the young seat, finding itself in contact with his skin. He walks over to the bathroom to fix himself up, and leaves his quarters once he believes he looks decent. He goes out to find Rise already stationed at the barracks for recruitment. I make my way towards him, clearing my throat to get his attention. "You're here early. Have any luck?" He hasn't looked at me yet, so I gaze in his direction to find three men approaching us. I studied the three of them, but it just happened to be the middle one that sparked my interest. I searched for emotion in his close lavender eyes. They were enticing. I calmly retained my composure and smiled, greeting them from where we were. Mm, Let's see what they can do.
Yukio Takamiya
Quoran and his captains were arriving at the barracks. As they neared their destination, Quoran could feel hia heart starting to pound. They were so close to getting in and he couldn't help but feel nervous and uneasy. What if something happened that made them seem suspicious or exposed them? As a general, Quoran wasn't allowed to be insecure. He was supposed to be brimming with confidence that their mission would succeed and lead the captains in their job. He shook the negative thoughts out of his mind and replaced them with determination. He would see through this mission no matter what. Upon entering the gates of the barracks, Quoran's eyes connected with that of the most alluring blue eyes he had ever seen. The owner of those china blue orbs wore a general's uniform, and because of that, Quoran had that sense of rivalry within himself. They were both generals, naturally he would feel the competition between them. The man stared at him for some reason. But when he smiled and greeted, Quoran couldn't but feel that the smile was a challenge. It may be because of the animal within himself that he was feeling this way, but Quoran could tell what the guy was thinking with that look in his eyes. He shot back his own glare,'I'll take anything you throw at me,'was his thought. He then nodded his own greeting and bent his body a little in the respect that he was supposed to give. The beast within tried to stop him from bowing but Quoran pushed it back. Felines were proud creatures that bowed to no one but their ruler but in this case, Quoran hadn't a choice if he didn't want to be suspected. His captains followed his actions reluctantly, bowing to the man of a higher rank. After doing so, Quoran went to join the other applicants. There were supposedly different trials to go through to see if they were qualified to be a soldier. Quoran hated to admit but he was looking forward to what they were. It reminded him of his younger days while training to he a warrior. This was the basics all over again. His eyes sparkled with anticipation and unknowingly, he had started to look around excitedly, his tough facade fading slightly. The three captains were staring at him in amusement but he didn't notice. All his attention were fixated on the facilities that the barracks offered. Different weapons all arranged neatly in one corner, target boards for archery in one line against a wall and a large circle drawn on the field outside, probably for sparring. He felt a tap on his shoulder all of a sudden. In much horror, Quoran realised how childish his behaviour had been. He quickly gathered himself together and turned to face Zion. "Hate to interrupt your exploration boss, but we gotta register our names into the register,"he said pointing to a table where a long line had formed. Quoran heard the snickers of other applicants behind his back and clenched his fists. Zion shifted away immediately,"chill down, don't wanna cause a scene do we?" Quoran took deep breaths to calm himself down. Zion was right, he couldn't lose it now that they had come this far. Being in enemy territory itself was unnerving for them, Quoran couldn't fail his mission or the captains would go down with him. They moved to join the line and in time they had reached the front. They each registered themselves under fake names since they were high ranking officials of Hazradan, they were no doubt famous. They had never fought with their other forms though, that was to be used as a secret weapon should the time come, which was why even their own soldiers didn't know about them. Quoran registered himself under the name Siegrain, Lazark under Tobia, Feris under Dorian and Zion under Noreign. Soon their trials were about to start. Quoran eyed the armour provided to them with disdain. Although he didn't shift much, there was the natural dislike of wearing something heavy to decrease his mobility. He reluctantly wore the armour while his captains laughed at him. They knew his dislike for armours and were enjoying the way he was sulking. The three captains didn't like armours too but Quoran despised armours for some reason. "The trials are starting soon, remember what I said,"he whispered so that only the shape shifters could hear." Quoran's mauve eyes shifted to glance at the general several metres away then to the trial setting in front of him. Archery came first. How should he go about this? ramentan
I cocked my head slighty to the side, watching his reaction towards my undeniable stare. I was curious. The determination that covered his face willed me to see his answer. The other two men behind him only waited for his response. 'Hm, seems like he's the leader of the pack then,' and at the same moment. I had to process the respectful bow he gives me in my direction, following with his companions. 'Not bad.' A smile tugs at the side of my lips, and I look down trying to hide the jubilant expression tainting my face. Rise who had been standing next to me the whole time is holding an amused look, taking the forms from each participant. Why am I acting like this.. Iesan mentally groans to himself and joins Rise. ----------- The line moves in a well ordered pace, forms piling up a the side of the desk. Iesan looks over the papers, sighing. He has yet to know the name of the man he so happened to stare at longer than usually. It wasn't like him to have his eyes linger on someone let alone a stranger. His sense of being wants to know more about this man. He will find out sooner or later. The information listed on the form is more than enough. It wouldn't be like him to ask a former recruit personal things. He would be questioned for it. Iesan chuckles to himself, thinking about what he said. 'A former recruit.' He's already thinking about accepting him. "Thank you very much. Please stand in line for the first training course." Rise's voice plungess me out of my deepining thoughts and the four men walk over to stand in the forming line. 'Ah, they've already registered.' Rise turns towards me with a satisfied look. He puts the four applications in front of me, grinning. "Knock yourself out." 'Tch,' Iesan nods to Rise, quietly thaking him. He takes the four forms, looking at the top of each paper, silently reading the names to himself. " Siegrain, Tobia, Dorian, and....Noreign." Interesting names... I wonder which of these belongs to him. The last three people in line are followed over by Rise, and I stand up, organizing the papers and tucking them under my arm. We stand at the entrance, and Rise initiates the explanation. "The training courses we have available for testing are Archery, Swordsmanship, and Hand-to-Hand combat. You will be tested on how well you demonstrate your ability, and strength. Full participation is required. Remember this is what you signed up for." And with that the training began. I watched many of the people fail miserably or maybe it's because we grade harshly, but you could never expect less. My hope was slowly fading away. Another 'red X'. We might have to have another meeting after this. Ugh, total failure. With a bored expression I looked at the next person in line, and waved him over. I could already see Rise have a mirrored expression when he accidentally pulls the arrow back too far, breaking the bow string. I jot down small notes with an 'X' beside his name on the form. I turn the paper over taking another application out underneath the stack of papers and placed it ontop. I read out the name. "Mr.Siegrain, you're up next." Yukio Takamiya
Quoran watched as applicants after applicants went to take the test. He couldn't help but cringe at the standard the men displayed. But of course, they couldn't be blamed. Quoran was known back in Hazradan to be very stringent with his troops. It was very hard to satisfy him. But the thing was that some of these applicants actually missed the target board completely while others had their arrows bouncing off the board. The strength they used were either too much or too little. The latest one even broke his bowstring. Lazark had guffawed at that then receiving a push on the head from Quoran. One thing thing that was common about all the applicants though, was that they had completely no accuracy. The boards were only eight yards away from the line and none of them could hit the center. Quoran crossed his arms and whispered softly so that only the captains could hear. "If anyone one of you display this kind of standard in front of me, I'll personally see to your demise." He hadn't meant it of course. The captains knew that most of Quoran's threats toward them were empty threats but took him seriously nonetheless. They knew that he always had a meaning behind his threats. In this case, he was telling them to show some skill and not make a fool of themselves. Soon, he heard his alias being called by the general. He tensed up and took his place at the line. The target board had different colours. Green being the outermost circle followed by yellow then red. A small black dot with a diameter of about one inch stood in the middle of the red circle, marking the utmost center of the target board. Quoran glanced at the general then back at the target board before picking up the bow. In archery, he didn't have to hold back since it was humanely possible for one to hit the center. And Quoran wanted to use this opportunity to show his self-claimed rival that he wasn't like the others. Swordsmanship and hand to hand combat were his specialties that he needed to restrain himself in. Quoran held the bow differently from the others. Instead of holding it upright, he slanted the bow slightly so that his knuckles were facing upwards rather than to the side. He now had a clear view of the board and could aim better than any of the other applicants. His pupils did not narrow as usual since the distance wasn't very far. Shape shifters could see long distances and their pupils narrowed the further they focused. Nocking the arrow into place, Quoran took aim and fired the arrow in an instant. The arrow connected with the board, obliterating the black circle in the middle. Silence filled the hall. Not looking at anyone or even the general, Quoran placed back the bow in its original position and walked back to his friends. "Show off," Lazark said with a grin and moved forward when his name was called. Quoran watched proudly with his arms crossed each time his captains hit the black dot. When every applicant had had their turn, they were called to the ring. Swordsmanship came next and Quoran started to strategize and calculate the strength needed, just enough to defeat the opponent. They were to spar with swords but Quoran couldn't help but frown. He was used to using two swords at a time sometimes four where he could spin the swords like two propellers. This time they were only allowed one sword each. It wasn't that Quoran couldn't fight with a single sword but his preference was two. He held the sword tightly and looked at the general, listening to the rules.
