Yukio Takamiya
Dion followed his father into the castle past the guards and into the throne room. Walking along the long red carpet, he stopped when his father stopped and bowed to the beast emperor when his father did. After that his father moved to the side while Dion remained standing in front of the emperor. He kept his eyes on his feet, not daring to make a move. Dion didn't know why his fathet brought him to see the king. The man hadn't even once in his life glanced at him and now there was this. He probably found that Dion was useful now after so many years of his childhood spent getting beaten up. Word of Dion's rage had reached him, and the man whom he called his father had came to visit him for the first time. And the first time, he visited, he took Dion away from his mother. Not that the woman actually cared, she was happy to see him go. "Hmm..." the king mused, gripping his chin in a thoughtful post. "He really does look human. I never would have expected someone like this to be your son Caros," he said. Caros, his father bowed and replied. "It may not seem like it but this boy is most definitely my son." This made Dion suspicious. Why did his father only acknowledge him now? Does it mean that he wasn't Caros's son if he was weak? Dion clenched his fists tightly and kept quiet waiting for what the king had to say. "I have a task for you boy," the king said. Dion looked up at the king keeping silent to let him know that he was still listening. "You will go into the human's territory to gather some information for me," the king continued. At this, Dion's eyes widened in fear. Humans may seem weak in the past. But over time, the other races noticed how they got stronger quickly and were now a force to be reckoned with. They could sniff out intruders with their own spells. Dion knew this and feared the consequences if he was ever found. But he didn't know that the human blood within him would also protect his identity. "W-what will i have to do there?" He asked softly. "Gather information on their military and battle plans?" "No," the king replied. "I want you to tell me how the humans rule their people." He said, pausing to take a look at Dion. "I realised that the reason why humans became so strong is because of their unity. I want you to find out how they achieved this." ------------------------------- A week later, Dion found himself in front of the large wall which blocked the humans from the outside. His face was hidden beneath his dark hood when he went closer to the wall. The guards saw him and raised their swords. "Who goes there?! State your race and the reason why you're here?" They shouted from their positions. Dion took a deep breath and pulled back his hood. Giving the guards a smile, Dion waved and said," Sorry, but i'm human." BlaqueCatt
Adriel || Phoenix || The Lord of Flaming Ashes || Aiden Ancient, appears 21 years old Prefers a male appearance Demon His unique abilities include pyromancy and partial or whole phoenix transformation. He also has knowledge of various types of magic. Adriel is small for a demon. He stands at only five feet, three inches, and has a slim, lean body type. This, combined with his porcelain white skin and soft facial features, give him a delicate appearance. He is, of course, far from delicate, and is physically stronger than men three times his size. In his demon form, he has fiery red hair, matching eyes with slit pupils, pointed ears, sharp fangs, and tough, razor-sharp, black claws on his hands and feet. He is also able to form wings of fire that sprout from his shoulder blades, and that have a wingspan of twelve feet. In his human form, he has reddish-brown hair and dark mahogany eyes. Adriel was once an archangel, but became a fallen angel after joining Lucifer's rebellion against God. He attempted to repent to God, but was rejected. God's rejection only further developed the evil that had begun to corrupt his soul. He returned to the demon realm, and was ridiculed by his fellow demons, both for his size and his appeal to God - he was called "the Demon Sorry." Adriel's rage and hatred grew, and he eventually turned on the other demons, slaughtering thousands until he had earned respect and a position as one of the elite, and was given the title of Lord. He now lives in a grand estate in the demon realm and has a full staff of servants. He has journeyed to the human kingdom to investigate a group of clerics who have been exorcising weaker demons. Normally he would not bother with such a thing, but it is rumored that the group is growing exponentially and may be in possession of an artifact that once belonged to the angels. He has also grown bored with the monotony of noble life, and is eager to start raising chaos once again.
BlaqueCatt
Adriel sat in the dirt with his back against a low cobblestone wall, his head tipped back and his dark mahogany eyes staring blankly up at the sky. He had his right knee drawn up to his chest and his left leg stretched out, his arms limp by his sides, palms facing upwards. No one spared him a glance as they passed by, assuming that he was just another poor human child without parents or a home. They couldn't be more wrong, but it was better that way. If they thought he was young, weak, and helpless, they wouldn't become suspicious of him and question his motives. It still irritated him, though. He wasn't used to being ignored, to being looked down upon. And he absolutely despised the ratty clothes he was forced to wear - loose black trousers, scuffed black work boots, and a pale red cotton tunic. He was a commoner again, and he hated it. He didn't want to be reminded of what his life had been like before he had become a Lord of the demon realm. The demon would have sneered at the thought, but his mind was wandering, as it often did when he was bored; the humans he was investigating weren't meeting at the church until sundown, and he couldn't get into any fights without giving away his identity. He had nothing to do but sit and think. When he was bored at home, he would have his servants prepare a meal - he enjoyed eating and drinking, even though it wasn't necessary for his survival - or he would take a nap, another activity he did for fun rather than out of necessity. He might read, or spy on humans he found amusing. If he was lucky, some young demon would be cocky enough to challenge him, and he would have the pleasure of tearing their eyes out. Unfortunately, none of those options were available, as his facade required him to appear poor. He didn't have enough money to buy food and drink that didn't taste horrendous, or to rent a room at an inn that wasn't crawling with bugs, or to buy a book that would interest him in the slightest - not to mention it would be strange for a poor child to know how to read. Teasing the humans was somewhat entertaining, but their lives were even more boring than his, not to mention that he was limited to what he could do while in his human form. And, of course, fighting and killing were out of the question; he was known for his composure and finesse in battle, but after having gone so long without drawing blood, his bloodlust would likely take over, and he would end up revealing himself. Not that he was worried about being killed by the humans, inept as they were, but it would cause the humans to increase their demonic defenses, which would cause problems for every demon, not just him. Adriel let out a sigh and banged his head against the cobblestone wall, the dull pain helping to drive away some of the boredom. I did this to get away from the boredom I felt in the demon realm, he reminded himself, his posture listless and his expression empty. I can't cause as much damage as I'd like, but I can find something to do until the fun really starts. Just as he was about to lift himself up from the ground, he heard voices coming from the gates. He turned his head towards the noise curiously. "Who goes there? State your race and the reason why you're here!" two guards shouted. Adriel watched as a handsome young man pulled down his hood and replied, "Sorry, but I'm human." A smirk appeared on Adriel's face. That's no human, he thought as he stood, dusting off his trousers. He really does look like one, though. Even I would have been fooled if I couldn't sense the presence of other demons. His eyes narrowed. A half demon? Interesting... He ran his fingers through his hair, reluctantly mussing it up a bit. He should be able to cure my boredom... He studied the young man as he entered, wondering what would be the best way to introduce himself.
Yukio Takamiya
The soldiers took one look at Dion's features and immediately, their harsh expressions turned into friendly welcoming smiles. Dion was surprised at this but kept his expression neutral. "Ah! Welcome back," one of them said. "You shouldn't be going out of the country for too long even if you may be strong. Those beasts are dangerous too," the other said. Was this the unity that the emperor was talking about? Humans were so friendly to each other. Seeing this made Dion feel rather sad that he wasn't a part of such a world. The soldiers each gave him friendly pats on the back that made Dion feel warm all over as they ushered him through the gates. It was the first time he had ever smiled genuinely. "Thank you for your concerns, have a good day ahead," he replied and waved to them as he continued on his way. The moment he passed through the gates, he was greeted with a bustling market place within a city. Dion's eyes were wide with wonder and curiosity as he walked along the path. The beast territory never had anything like this. Stalls with food, drinks and other supplies lined the side walk. In the beast territory, food was hunted individually, water was taken from wells and rivers, and necessary supplies were made by oneself, sometimes even stolen. Compared to this, the beast territory was pandemonium. It was at this moment that Dion realised. Unity wasn't anything complicated like the emperor thought. It was a relationship, created through friendship and trust. And all this could be achieved through living together. In the beast land, everyone minded their own businesses, living separately and avoiding others who were not their family. Stealing also created negative relationships. Dion however, regretted that he had to realise this upon entering the city. He wanted to spend more time enjoying himself among friendly humans. As he continued to walk, he suddenly heard panicked shouts coming from behind him. Dion turned his body and spotted a horse, charging through the streets and destroying carefully set up stalls. The horse was huge, with black hair and eyes unlike an ordinary horse. They were violet and without pupils. "WATCH OUT. IT'S A WAR HORSE!!!" He heard a human running behind the horse shouting. The poor human looked exhausted, sweating in his dark uniform while chasing the horse. A soldier he assumed. Dion didn't know what a war horse was since there was no such thing in beast territory. Instead, he took the horse running towards him as a form of greeting. Did humans have such masculine greetings as well? Since they used an animal for this. Being brought up in the beast land where everyone were all muscle heads, this kind of assumptions were normal for beasts. Since everything was about strength. "Then I should greet back,' was his thought. Dion bent his knees and stretched out his hands, ready to receive the horse. The horse didn't bother avoiding the 'human' in front of him. He would wreck everything in his way. Which was why he was surprised when Dion stopped him with a hand to his head and the other to his long neck. Dion stepped back and lifted the one of the horse's heavy legs without much effort, shaking it. "Pleasure to meet you too, Sir War Horse," he said with a smile. The market place became deathly silent. The soldier who was chasing the horse finally arrived a second later. "Thank you very much for catching this horse, Mister warrior," he said despite being socked from the event that had occurred before him. What Dion had done was possible among humans but rare, since certain humans could use magic or were exceptionally stronger than others, able to rival even demons or beasts. Some even left the land to hunt beasts and demons. The horse, upon realising that he was about to be recaptured, reared up on his hind legs and swung his front hooves at Dion. "WHOA!!!" The soldier exclaimed in shock. Dion managed to avoid the hooves and grinned. To him, it seemed that his greeting wasn't enough and the horse was being more polite by being more violent. 'I can't be lacking in my manners,' he thought. In his attempt to be polite, Dion placed his hands on the horse's under belly when it came down. Heaving, he lifted the horse off the ground and gave it a few violent spins in the air before it flew a few feet away. There, it sat shocked, confused and dizzy. Dion placed his hands on his hips, that should be polite enough. He didn't want to cause any bodily harm to the horse by being too polite. Dion turned to the befuddled soldier and his eyes widened in shock. "Ah! I'm so sorry. You spoke to me but I haven't greeted you yet," he apologised. Before the soldier could say anything, Dion had lifted him off his feet and begin to shake him. "Y-You're very....p-p-polite," the soldier managed to say amidst the violent shaking. Dion finally stopped and placed the soldier back on his feet, whom swayed and staggered towards the still traumatised horse. The market place had long been evacuated and Dion felt guilty at having been unable to greet everyone else. "It was a pleasure meeting you Sir, hope you have a good day ahead," Dion told the soldier, still smiling and unaware of the soldier's current state. "A fine and polite horse you have here, he has been well trained. But sadly, I must get going. Perhaps, I could come to admire him some time in the future," Dion waved at the soldier and horse before walking off, leaving the soldier to stare after him. The horse, sitting obediently beside him and doing the same thing.
BlaqueCatt
"Watch out! It's a war horse!" Adriel turned away from the half-demon and glanced down the street, raising a slim auburn eyebrow at the sight of a large crowd of humans scrambling to get out of the way of a massive black stallion. He calmly stepped off of the worn dirt road, not even flinching as the great beast charged past him, so close that its flank nearly brushed against his nose. The creature stirred up the air around it as it sped by, dust-filled wind blowing through Adriel's hair, causing it to flutter wildly. The demon smirked and ran his fingers through his hair, trying and failing to smooth it out. Impressive, for a horse bred by humans, he mused, enjoying the pleasant sound of people screaming in fear. He watched with an amused expression on his pale face as the half-demon braced for the steed's impact, curious to see what the half-demon would do. Adriel wasn't surprised that the half-demon stopped the horse in its tracks, as all demons were capable of such feats, but his eyes did widen in shock when the young man grabbed the horse's leg and shook it in greeting. The demon lord blinked, tilting his head to the side with a thoughtful expression on his face. Why would a half-demon follow the etiquette practices of the Beasts? The situation was becoming more and more interesting by the second. Adriel waited until the soldier and his horse had walked out of sight before approaching the half-demon. Most of the humans were still indoors, unsure of whether it was safe to come out or not, which gave the two plenty of privacy. "Excuse me," the demon said, a sly yet charming grin on his face and a smirk within his voice, "but that was quite a show of power." He stopped in front of the half-demon, lifting his head in order to meet his eyes. "Do you happen to be a practitioner of magic?" It was obvious from the way the half-demon had acted that he had no idea how humans lived, meaning it would be easy to catch him in his lie. Adriel would take pleasure in exposing the half-demon, in manipulating him and prodding at him until he finally snapped; he was tempted to have his fun with the half-demon and deal with the church-goings later. This half-demon intrigues me, he thought. I want to play a game with him.
Yukio Takamiya
(Sorry for the late reply, exam period.) As Dion walked, his mood was particularly great. The human territory was full of polite and friendly people who greeted him upon entering the town. But that was only because they thought he was human. If they knew he were part beast and demon as well, he would receive their wrath instead. The humans protected their kind after all, other races were eradicated if they were harmful. At this thought, Dion felt sad. he couldn't help but wonder if life would be different for him if his blood was purely human. Just then, Dion felt a presence approaching him and stopped, turning to see a small man. Did this person come to greet him as well? Humans really were friendly after all. Dion suspected nothing about the man's secretive smile nor the coy tinge in his voice. He smiled back and greeted the him," good afternoon." He was slightly surprised at being asked such a question but replied all the same, after all, humans did practice magic, it wouldn't be suspicious at all. "Yes, I do in fact have knowledge about magic, are you a fellow practitioner?" Dion felt the beginnings of excitement bubbling up within him, was this man going to be his first friend in the human city? But something didn't feel right, Dion realised after a while. The small man looked human, yet he had a unique smell that no other human had. Dion leaned forward and gave the man's neck a sniff... a unique scent indeed... and so so familiar. What was it? Dion tried to remember. Suddenly, his eyes widened and he hurriedly took a step back. "What is your reason for approaching me demon?" He asked coldly. He didn't know why this demon resembled humans so much but his scent undoubtedly belonged to a demon. What was his purpose here? To destroy the human's peace? To kill them? Dion was convinced that this demon was strong else he wouldn't have been able to infiltrate the human's territory so easily...hell, perhaps even human archmages would have missed him if they're not cautious enough. If this demon meant him any harm, Dion didn't want to be anywhere near the humans when a fight ensured.
BlaqueCatt
"Yes, I do in fact have knowledge about magic, are you a fellow practitioner?" There was a moment's pause, but before Adriel could reply, the half-demon bent down and sniffed at his neck. The demon's body stiffened, and his grin vanished, replaced by a blank expression that barely concealed the rage that was building up inside of him. His mouth snapped shut, and his jaw clenched, hands tightening into fists at his sides. It took all of his willpower to restrain himself from grabbing the half-demon by the throat and slamming him into the ground. Adriel understood what the half-demon was doing, but that didn't change the fact that the half-demon was touching him in a way that was completely inappropriate for someone of his stature. How dare he! Adriel glared up at the half-demon, his anger bleeding through his human disguise; cracks formed in his reddish-brown eyes, revealing the amber beneath. If he hadn't been as strong a demon as he was, he would have lost complete control of his human visage, and he would have been snarling and baring his fangs at the half-demon. He managed to stay composed until the half-demon pulled away and exclaimed, "What is your reason for approaching me demon?" Adriel's lips curled into a sneer, and he grabbed the half-demon by the wrist, pulling him close. "I suggest you keep your mouth shut, little one," he purred, his eyes now glowing red, "before you expose both of us." He smirked, then turned towards a back alley, dragging the half-demon along with him. Once they were hidden from human eyes, Adriel released the half-demon and sighed, stretching his arms above his head as his disguise lifted, revealing his true form. He kept his aura contained, though, as the priests would easily detect his presence otherwise. "Why I am here is of no concern to you," Adriel continued, dusting off his black trousers and straightening his blood-red vest. "As for why I approached you, I am curious." He used his fingers to smooth out his hair, his black nails glinting in the half-light. "What is a half-demon doing in human territory? And more importantly, why is a half-demon following the mannerisms of the beasts?" Adriel smirked at the half-demon, his expression somewhat smug. "Why don't you explain, hmm?"
