"I remember that case," he said a bit surprised. "We were told to keep away because that gang had secret ties with the government and of course, us being the government's lap dogs, we were told to keep back. When that killing went down the military took over for the police so they wouldn't dig too much and that they said it was a mass killing. No one even wondered why the killer wasn't searched for because the military getting involved and searching would just raise too many suspicions. I may have been younger but I was raised in the military so I heard everything. I can't believe that was you..." Yuu actually smiled at the irony of it all but also knew no one was going to lock him away for it because if anyone did find out then there would be a huge uproar and silence wouldn't be an option. "Thanks for telling me, Kai."

Kai was surprised upon hearing that Yuu had heard about the case. If he had learned it while growing up in the military, then that meant almost everyone else knew about it as well. He never realized the military took it over. "I never left any trails to be followed after that. And I moved out of the city and into the place I was in when you found me." It was only a few cities down, so it was no surprise that this base just happened to be the one to make the initial reports. Kai took another breath, closing his eyes so that he could calm himself down. It had been a very long time since that event happened. Kai looked back at Yuu and smiled slightly. "I'm glad it was you I told. You may not have all your memory...but I feel like I can trust you more then any one I've ever come across." He touched foreheads with Yuu, taking in his scent as he did so. "Thank you for letting me tell you."

"Thank you for telling me... It is kind of strange how everything worked out... I don't know if I'm really someone you can trust... Sure the military trusts me but the government doesn't and I seemed to have stuck my nose somewhere it does not belong..." Yuu's eyes were sad but he was happy Kai told him everything. Just as their little heart felt moment was easing, the general came in with all of Kai's things from the Motel.

 

"Here you go. This was everything I could find in the motel you two were staying at." He placed everything on the side of the bed next to Kai's chair and walked out without another word. The last thing he wanted to do was stress Yuu out again. Yuu, however, called out to him and told him it was ok and that he remembered. They spoke for about 5 minutes before the general had to head off to work with the new recruits. He had double the work having to fill in for Yuu since he'd run away.

Kai saw the sadness in Yuu's eyes. He couldn't think of why the government wouldn't trust him. He seemed to be a person who'd take his position seriously. 'I guess, not trusting him was the reason why he ran away in the first' Kai thought to himself. Their moment together ended suddenly when the previous general returned again. This time Kai remained subtle and didn't fight him back like he had last time. When he held out Kai's things he instantly went to look at it. The two bags they brought with them, Kai's watch, his laptop, everything they brought with them was here. Kai grabbed the watch and looked at it. There had been several calls from clients that had come in. He groaned at the thought of listening to the messages left. But as soon as the general left the room, Kai would listen to them. He even pulled out the laptop and noticed it was still on. He logged in and a few tabs had been left open from when Yuu had last used it. One of them being the last description out on Kai, the other the passcode Yuu spoke about. Kai closed the laptop before he read anymore.

"You don't have to worry about him hacking any of your things. He can barely type without using chopsticks." Yuu motioned how you'd type with just your index fingers. "He couldn't have gotten in." The teen smiled a bit as he watched Kai getting frustrated by the calls on his watch. "Go ahead and take those, I might just close my eyes for a little while." He did just as he said and laid back, relaxing completely to take pressure off his stabbed abdomen for a while and hopefully let it heal a lot more. Yuu hated being chained to a bed with all these injuries.

Kai looked up from his things when Yuu mentioned he was going to sleep. He watched him lay back and close his eyes. Kai looked back at his watch and clicked the call button. Instantly the watch started playing all the messages he'd received. Many of them were calling him dirtbag names, calling him an imposter, a fraud, some of them claiming that if they found him they shoot him on the spot and collect their reward. However it was the last two messages that made Kai want to punch the wall and yell out. His first ever client, a man who'd given him many jobs found it upon himself to find out where Kai lived and enter his home. He ransacked his apartment in search for clues. The second message that was left was even worse for Kai to hear. It threatened him, telling him that if he didn't show up his family was going to die a second time. "Fuck!" Kai called out, clenching his good hand. The fact that they were going to die a second time meant they had found the secret photo Kai had of his family. The last thing he ever had. He felt pain in his chest as he tossed his watch back onto his bag. He then mumbled to himself as he looked up at the ceiling. "I will never forgive you."

Yuu hadn't yet fallen asleep and heard how angry Kai had gotten. He felt bad and wanted to say or do something and an idea came into his head. "Want to pay him back?" Yuu had the most sinister smile slapped across his face. "We need to go to the training section. Take my word for it this will be fun!!" Yuu laughed and called for the medic. He explained a bit of what was going on and the medic shook his head and said "you're terrible" before unchaining the teen and setting him in a wheelchair. The medic then got a nurse to push the wheel chair to sector c way in the back where the trainees were.

Kai noticed he had gained the attention of Yuu. He looked at the other with a sad expression. "Sorry, I didn't mean to wake you. I just...." He fell silent looking down at his lap. Then suddenly Yuu spoke up, which made Kai look up at him, eyebrows raise. "Pay back? What-?" He wasn't able to finish his question before Yuu called over the medic explaining how he needed to get down to the training section. He was surprised when he agreed, calling a nurse over with a wheelchair. Kai followed silently, completely curious about where they were going, or what they were going to do.

It took a while but they finally made it to sector C and in the room where there were about 40 trainees and the general, who of course had his shirt off and was showing everyone his scars while the trainees were running through what looked like an enormous gym where they set up an obstacle course. "General Hugo, mind if I get a minute?" The general shouted for the trainees to keep going. "Want to take the trainees on a little field trip? Think of it as some field training." He didn't even bother asking what was going on. These guys all seemed to be running on the same page.

 

The general turned and shouted loudly to get everyone's attention and drew them all around. "Attention!" Yuu shouted before bending over, pain shooting through his stabbed abdomen. General Hugo made sure everyone was in attention and told Yuu to take his time. "Alright, you all have to pay attention because I can't raise my voice too much. "Alright, we are going to be going on a field training field trip. All of you will gear up and and follow the instructions for this trip. General Hugo will lead and guide you guys so go get ready. Dismissed." The trainees took off to go get ready as fast as possible. Yuu then filled the general in on what was happening to Kai and where to find the man where they could scare him off. No one even minded what the trainees did as long as they were trained and supervised. Still, it would be so much fun to watch the trainees act like full on military and to watch someone who threatens another to wriggle and squirm under the mere newbies. "Ready Kai?"

When they finally reached the room Yuu had been talking about, Kai didn't know what to do. He stood beside Yuu silently as he watched trainees run courses. When Yuu called out was when he noticed the obnoxious general from before. Then Yuu shouted out to others, causing pain to flare up. "Yuu, don't stress yourself out." When the trainees came over, he was glad Yuu lowered his voice. Kai listened until the very end, completely surprised by what Yuu said. When Yuu turned around to face him and ask if he was ready, Kai lowered his head in thought. A large grin formed on his lips as he looked back Attu. "Hell, I'm ready." He clenched his good fist in anticipation for what was to come.

"Good because this guys is getting what he deserves. He'll learn quickly not to mess with you ever again." It wasn't long before the trainees were ready to go and back in line. "Wow, they're pretty quick at that now," Yuu commented causing general Hugo to puff his chest in pride for having them drill that over and over until they reduced their time to something appropriate. "Kai, the doctor won't like it but you can go with them if you want." He wasn't sure if Kai wanted to go considering this was about him but he asked feeling somewhat down about it.

Kai smiled down at Yuu. He couldn't believe the other was arranging something like this for him. He looked back as the trainees began running back into the room, completely prepared. Kai was pretty amazed at how quick they were, with all the gear they carried. When Yuu spoke up again about him going his smile dropped and he looked at his broken arm. He looked back up at Yuu. "I need to go. I need to end it once and for all." He was determined to finish his life as a hired gun. And there was no way he'd let that man get away with destroying the only thing he had left of his family. Kai looked over at the other general. "Please! Let me come with you!"

Yuu nodded and general Hugo seemed delighted. "Glad to have you kid!" He pat Kai roughly on the back of his shoulder and and had him wear some protective gear as well and they marched off towards the exit. Yuu waved his right hand slightly unable to really lift it. He smiled a bit as he watched them go and then was lead off towards the medical wing for now to wait. He refused to go back just yet though and had the nurse push him all over Sector C and re-familiarized himself with his work space. These trainees had grown a lot in the few weeks he'd been missing. It was kind of sad but kind of happy to see. He then waited patiently for them to invade Kai's house where the guy was, and scare the man half to death.

Kai was truly thankful he was allowed to go. Well, with the general's permission. He just hoped he wouldn't get a lecture when he returned. Kai was suddenly pat on the shoulder and called 'kid'. This set his expression into a grim one. He never been called kid since....well, ever. Not even his clients called him kid. Suddenly they were leaving, and Kai followed them. Until he stopped, turned around and went back to Yuu. He knelt down and touched foreheads with Yuu, whispering to him. "I'll be back, okay? Don't get into trouble while I'm gone." With that Kai left.

 

It only took them a couple of hours to get from the base to Kai's apartment. But because they left during midday, by the time they got there it was nearly night fall. The van they piled themselves into stopped at the corner of the street. Kai made sure they stayed hidden so that the client's men wouldn't see them. Kai then turned to Hugo, holding out his hand. "I need a gun. And if you don't mind, I'd like to be the one to finish it all."

Yuu was happy when Kai came back to touch their foreheads and was a little more gentle as they hurried off.

 

General Hugo only gave Kai a small handgun with a lighter recoil. "Now, keep in mind we aren't here to kill anyone. If you kill you go to the police and get locked up for life. The trainees only have one bullet each for warning shots purposes so they won't kill anyone either. The two of us will have fully loaded guns but no killing. We have numbers and government under our belts so no one would be stupid enough to try and take the military. Remember the support you have and don't try to take it on alone. Not even Yuushio will be able to help you if you needlessly throw away your life by killing one of these men." Hugo was gentle now as he explained the situation.

Kai thanked Hugo when he passed him a gun. Thankful that he picked one with a lighter recoil. Although he'd be able to use it, his right wrist was still injured. The recoil of the gun would surely injure him more if it were a heavier recoil. Kai held out his watch and showed the men his watch. A small hologram took form, showing them a picture of the man they were targeting holding another photo. "This is the one we're after. By the looks of it he's taken up residence in my bedroom. Which is the furthest room from front door." Kai explained to them the layout of his apartment. When he finished he put his watch in his pocket. Kai looked outside, noticing that there were three people guarding his place. This was the con of living in the slums of the city. No one cared that strange men were in his home, and cops never drove by these streets. Kai clicked his tongue in annoyance.

"Relax kid, we got this." General Hugo gave the signal and the newbies moved out. They were quick and precise, though they did seem to slip out of order every now and then as well as required more instruction then the main troops, either way, they were crazy convincing. Two groups quickly secured the two hanging around outside as everyone else hurried inside around them. Once the rest of the group was in, Kai being forced to the back, one of the two groups outside joined while the other kept watch over the two outside. Room by room they secured the place until they made it into the bedroom and surrounded the area where they then moved aside for Kai to come to the front. General Hugo held the man up at gun point so he couldn't do anything to hurt Kai.

Kai sighed at the 'kid' crack and mumbled t himself. "I'm not a kid." He hopped out of the van and stayed back. He watched as the trainees and the rest of the groups formed. They instantly infiltrated his own apartment in such a timely fashion, he questioned his own self training. Kai stayed behind the groups until the apartment was secured. He entered through the front door. The sight of his apartment soured his mood. His apartment was a complete mess. Glass broken everywhere, his tv broken on the floor of his living area.

 

Kai walked further into the apartment. The smell coming from the bathroom meant it had been used and left there. Or someone died and the body was left in the tub. Seeing how he didn't outright see a body on the floor. Kai continued to the bedroom where he found Hugo holding his client a gun point. The sight of him instantly sent him on edge and Kai tossed his gun at a trainee, who luckily got it, and he charged at the man before him. In an instant Kai had thrown a fist at the man, punching him clear in the face.

 

When the man turned back to face Kai, his face was bloody from the broken nose he received. Kai yelled out in pain from his injury. "Fuck!" He growled out and glared at the man who laughed at him. "Its what you get for crossing me." Kai's eyes held so much hatred in them. If the military wasn't there with him, Kai would have shot him in the head without hesitation. "Where is it?" Kai growled out. "Where is my picture!?" He yelled out when the man didn't answer him. Kai straightened, raising his fist to hit the man again.

The general lifted his hand to stop Kai from hurting himself and he pointed his gun up and shot into the air to threaten the client. "If you do not return what you have taken then you will go to a government prison where you will never see the light of day again. You also don't have to go to trial because we are the military, not the police. Unless of course you'd prefer a different way to go," the general stated seriously and as he said this last words he pointed his gun back at the client. "We can make it seem like you never existed."

The client had no idea what had happened. At one point he's taking over Kai's apartment. Ransacking his home and threatening him with the photo he found. The next, the military is invading and Kai shows up with them. Of course, as soon as he had seen Kai he had received a punch to the face. He spit out the blood that formed and turned back to look at Kai, grin on his face. He watched as Kai took position to punch him again.

 

Kai was stopped by Hugo. He struggled against Hugo's grip,but soon calmed himself. His arm fell back to his side as he glared at the man before him. Kai listened to Hugo until he finished and aimed his gun back at Kai's client. Kai was angry, truly pissed off. He was afraid if he didn't calm down enough by the time they got back to the military, Yuu would surely see him in such a foul mood. "Give it back." He spat at the man. Kai sounded like a child yelling at another for taking his toy. He could care less about what others thought of him however, all he wanted was his things.

 

The man remained silent. He enjoyed watching Kai fall in front of him. However, he didn't get his wish of having Kai punch him again and getting him arrested, he had his ways. He growled at Hugo when the general pointed a gun back at him. He spit out blood again from the nose bleed. "Fine...Fine! The stupid photo is in the box on the bed." He flipped his head behind him.

 

Kai noticed the box, how he hadn't before was easy. He had been too concentrated on punching the bastard in front of him. Kai looked over at Hugo before taking a step closer to the bed. He eyed the man, wondering what he had up his sleeve. Kai stood by the bed now. He looked down at the box before looking back at Hugo. "You...should probably get everyone out." He looked down at the man and back at the box. "Knowing him like I do. He probably rigged this thing to blow when I open it."

General Hugo sent out most of the trainees but three stepped forward and took the box away from Kai. They had been trained in disarming bombs. Carefully they started to work on it and Hugo lead Kai and the client out of the apartment and left the three kids to do their work. It took about an hour to make sure everything was all set and they were able to get to box open and took the picture out. The three headed out and took off their helmets showing they were the same three that were wanting to go see Kai and Yuu in the medical wing.

 

One of the girls held out the picture face down so no one else had to see it. They smiled gently and everyone packed up to go back. They arrested the client anyway and as they had said, he ended up disappearing off the face of the earth. It was easily covered up and no one even was angry at the trainees.

Kai watched as everyone left the apartment. He stayed in the room before he himself was ushered out from Hugo. He noticed three masked military trainees enter the apartment behind them. Kai was feeling anxious as he waited for them to call the 'okay'. An hour passed before it came, and as soon as Kai noticed the three leave his apartment, his body tensed. When the three came towards him they took off their helmets, revealing the three from earlier. "Hey your-" Kai didn't finish his sentence as the young female passed the photo to him, faced down. Kai's heart skipped a beat. He didn't want to turn it over only to see it ruined. He slowly took it from the girl before they walked away.

 

Kai turned the photo over and instantly lost strength in his legs. He never would have thought he'd be such an emotional person. He could feel tears stinging in his eyes, but he forced them back. The last thing he needed was for the military to see him crying. Kai looked down at the photo. A picture of his mother, father, younger brother and himself and his tenth birthday. His body shook with the memories of his family. "I'm sorry" Kai whispered out, to no one in particular. Though, somewhere deep inside, he knew it was for his family. For not being able to protect them all those years ago.

The three that disarmed the bomb were the only three that weren't talking among the newbies. The rest of them were talking like crazy and were all so happy to have been able to pull it off so well. They were super excited and were going over everything that went well. As far as they knew, it was fake or even better, something real. These trainees were military at heart.

 

When they made it back, the two girls and the boy that had tried to see them at the medical wing went with Kai and walked with him to go find Yuu. Yuu was actually still waiting for them and refused to go back to the medical wing that day. It was very late into the night but he didn't even care. He stayed awake the whole time and waited.

Kai had calmed down enough to stand again. And when he did Hugo had been gathering everyone to leave. Kai took one step in the van after everyone else and took a look back at his apartment. It seemed like a dream that he was here right now. He wondered if he'd ever come back home. Hell, he could have booked it if he really wanted too. But he wasn't going to leave Yuu alone like that. Kai sat in the back of the van, watching as the apartment quickly turned out of his view. By the time they got back it was well into the late night hours. In fact, it was almost one in the morning.

 

When Kai found Yuu again it wasn't in the medical wing. Kai and the three trainees found you waiting for their return. Kai bent over touching Yuu's forehead instantly. His scent made Kai even more relaxed. His previous shaking slowly fading away not that he was with Yuu again. If it weren't for the stupid wheelchair, Kai would have wrapped his arms completely around the teen. He would just have to wait for that later when he was able to touch him more. Kai's voice broke the silence, a bit shaky. He called Yuu's name like a mantra, over and over again. "Yuu. Yuu. Yuu..."

"Welcome back Kai. So? Was it good revenge?" He smiled a bit clearly exhausted from waiting for them. The medic was in his office pissed and waiting for the two troublemakers to return to bed. "We should head back up or he's going to get really mad..." Yuu yawned and was clearly having a hard time staying awake now. "I'm sorry, I guess I'm still weak from the injuries."

 

The three continued to lurk for a bit before they got the chance to talk to Yuu and they wished him a quick recovery and hoped to be able to visit them soon saying they had a gift for the young General. As much as Yuu wasn't really a people person, so many people loved him and he clearly made an impact on these three. He told them to come visit tomorrow if they had the time and Yuu woke the nurse and she pushed his chair and lead them back to the medical wing for some sleep.
