Kai nodded against Yuu's forehead. "Yeah, it felt good. Wish I could have punched him more though." With that statement Kai stood back up and wiggled his fingers as if trying to stretch them. The medic would probably be even more upset if he found out Kai punched a man with his injuries. But hey, it sure as hell was worth it. Kai looked over to the three trainees when they started telling him to get better. Kai was glad Yuu had friends here, even if only a little.

When they were done talking, and it was evident Yuu was tired, then the nurse was woken up and the three of them headed back to medical room. Kai had to admit, even he felt tired and would most likely end up sleeping on a bed. He still didn't kick the idea of sleeping in such a place, but he soon put his trust in the medic. And he knew the man took pride in caring for patients no matter who they were. Kai held the photo tightly against him as they walked down the hallways. In the morning, he wanted to show Yuu his family.

When they finally returned, the medic wanted to lecture them but it was time they got some rest. Yuu was helped into the bed and he laid down and closed his eyes, instantly falling asleep. Yuu slept until fairly late the next day where he woke and looked around a bit noticing Kai and smiled. Kai seemed at peace now that everything that was important to him was safe. The medic came over and they talked for a while about Yuu's condition telling him that in about another week he'd be healed up enough to at least be able to handle the alcohol as long as he didn't try to run around or anything. The injuries were able to heal quickly and properly thanks to this doctor and his extreme measures except for one thing. He didn't think Yuu's right arm would ever fully heal from having the knife dragged down his arm from shoulder to elbow. It damaged the muscles almost entirely.

Kai walked into the room, immediately spotting the medic and his stern expression. Clearly he wanted to lecture the hell out of the two of them, but opted out of that. Kai watched as Yuu was helped into bed and laid down, instantly falling asleep. Kai wished they were back in the hotel, even back in his apartment. He missed the heat of Yuu's body against him. It helped him calm down enough. Not entirely, but enough. Kai took the bed next to him and laid down to rest, he was awake for another hour before his mind finally shut off and he fell asleep.

When Kai woke the next morning, it was certainly later then he normally would have slept into. But still before Yuu had woken up. He watched Yuu sleep for a little bit before taking out the photo once more. He looked down at it and rubbed a thumb across it. Kai smiled at the photo as the memories of this specific day came to mind. Yuu woke up a little while after, looking around and spotting him on the bed over. Kai smiled when Yuu did, glad to see such an expression first thing when he woke up. Kai ventured over to the chair beside the bed when the medic came over and spoke to them about Yuu's healing progress. Kai was glad to hear the good part of it. But when the medic went on explaining how Yuu might not be able to use his arm Kai frowned. "Some sort of therapy won't work either?"

"Therapy will only help to an extent. If he over exerts this injury he may make it worse by snapping a tendon and then he'd be in even more pain and that is a much harsher sergury," the medic explained. He looked at Yuu grimly but Yuu shook his head.

"Then it's a good thing I'm ambidextrous," Yuu smiled a bit. He was very even with both hands to the point it was scary. "Besides, it won't matter soon anyway and I'll just learn to use my left arm more." He wanted people to remember that his memory was going to be wiped so they wouldn't stress for him to remember or be able to do certain things because it wasn't going to happen. He looked down sadly for a moment but reached out his left arm and took Kai's hand. "I'll be alright."

Kai didn't want to think Yuu couldn't use his arm. He didn't want the younger male to stress over not being able to do certain things because of it. Kai had looked down when the medic said therapy could only do so much. Kai gripped the cast his broken arm was still wrapped in. Kai noticed a hand hand reach down and grip his hand. Looking up he saw Yuu looking at him, telling him that he'd be all right. "Yuu...I don't want to see you hurt. I don't want to think of you in pain because you can't use your arm." Kai gripped Yuu's hand back. He really hated to see the younger teen in pain.

"I have a pretty high tolerance to pain so don't stress over it. I'm not hurting now, am I?" He was doing whatever he could to shoe Kai that he'd be alright. "Besides, if there is anything I can't do because of this, then I'm just going to have to get your help. That's all there is to it." He knew Kai would always be there for him which was why Yuu didn't worry or stress too much about it.

Kai listened quietly to Yuu. Sure, he wasn't in pain now, at least, not what he could actually see. But he trusted Yuu, he wasn't going to ruin that trust. Kai let out a chuckle at Yuu's last statement. "There's no way I'm going to leave your side. I've been with you through all this hell, I'll be with you even after." His smile slightly dropped. He didn't want Yuu to see he was still upset about the whole thing. I just want to give that idiot a could punch for the pain he caused Yuu. Kai thought to himself. If he knew there would be now trouble caused with it, then Kai would certainly give the admiral a good hit before they left.

Yuu was so happy to hear those words come out of Kai's mouth that he almost started crying. The teen pushed the thought out of his mind so he wouldn't break down in front of anyone and focused again on the medic who was still there. He did change to Kai's condition and told him that the hand would take 5 to 6 weeks to make a full recovery and then need some therapy but his wrists were healing just fine and those would be all set in about a week should he not do anything too stupid to make it any worse. Of course the medic offered a menacing glare after that one as if threatening Kai not to do anything else beyond what he's already done. "Looks like we'll be stuck here for some time since it will be a week for me to even be in a condition to drink alcohol. I'm sorry Kai." And back to apologizing

Kai honestly liked seeing the expression on Yuu's face. He'd never seen him so genuinely happy. He smiled back at the teen before looking at he medic. He was now centering his attention towards Kai and his injury. Kai looked down at Ed hand and let out an exaggerated sigh. He leaned back in his chair, closing his eyes. He was still listening to the medic despite his fake annoyance about how long it was going to take him to heal. Of course, this also caused Yuu to start apologizing again. Kai squeezed Yuu's hand more. "Listen Yuu, it's not your fault. I can stand staying here a little longer if it means you can be free from this chained down life." He looked at Yuu with seriousness. "I want you to be free from now on."

"Thanks, Kai. But at least the only good thing is we don't have to pay for our medical bills.... Still.... I don't know if I can ever be free though it would be nice to be." Yuu had this awful feeling that even if he was able to leave this place and live a normal life, he'd always have ties here and could never truly be free. The leash may get longer but would never disappear. "Maybe we could move someplace nice where we wouldn't have to worry about most things. I would love to spend my life with you..." Just as they were building up their moment, the admiral walked in and ruined it.

"You going to go back to work while you're still stuck here Heiba?" The admiral barked staring at Yuu with a smirk. The teen was frustrated because the admiral knew he couldn't work with the injuries he'd given to him.

Kai held Yuu's hand the entire time, not caring who the hell saw it. He chuckled a tiny bit at Yuu's joke of not paying for medical bills. But it soon drained into silence when Yuu told him what he felt. When Yuu finished talking Kai was about to answer him, "Even after los-" when the admiral walked in instantly ruining the moment they had. In fact he seemed to enjoy any moment they had. Kai looked at Yuu, noticing the clear frown on his face after hearing the admiral's remark. Kai scowled at the man before standing up, clearly annoyed with the man. "You fucking asshole, just shut up for once!" Kai pointed a finger at the man from his broken hand. But he never once let go of Yuu's hand. "Your the reason Yuu is like this in the first place! Some military you are! I thought the military was supposed to be more complacent!"

"Look," The admiral said threateningly, "I can do whatever I want to any of these men and if I tell him to go run a mile right now, he has to. So back off outsider. I may not be able to hurt you but what happens to these men under my supervision is up to me." The admiral was in a fowl mood and Yuu squeezed Kai's hand gently and shook his head to sort of tell him to back off.

"What do you want admiral?" Yuu asked seriously.

"I'm sending general Hugo on a mission since you can't exactly leave the base so you actually have to do your job and watch the newbies for the next three days starting tomorrow. I expect you to be up and down there on time."

"Yes, sir." The admiral turned and left after getting Yuu's response.

"That's just not-!" Kai cut himself off when he felt Yuu squeeze his hand. It was the lightest thing, but Kai could still feel it. He looked down at the younger male, breaking eye contact with the admiral. Kai wanted to protest, say something to further the argument. He didn't understand why this man treated his men in such a way. He remained silent as Yuu and the admiral had their conversation. When the admiral left, Kai growled at his retreating back and turned back to Yuu, he was clearly upset. "Dammit! Why does he treat you like that!" Kai shook in anger, but he still held on to Yuu's hand. He hated the way the Adriel spoke to Yuu, the way he treated Yuu, even the way he looked at Yuu.

"He just does what he has to. Please just leave him to do his job. He's easy on me for the most part because he likes me like a son but he's also harder on me because I've been longer then most people, having been here my whole life. When there is a job to do it has to get done. That's all there is to it...." He looked down and the medic, having been there the whole time, was angry but he was lower ranked even though he didn't always act like it.

"I'll make sure you can handle the strain." The medic offered, it being the only thing he could do. He walked off to go get some gear that would put Yuu on his feet. It would be strenuous for sure but Yuu needed to be on his feet to keep up with these kids. The teen then looked at everything that was brought from the motel and his sword was among them. Tomorrow was going to be interesting.

"Yeah, but-! He doesn't-! It's just-! Shit!" Kai collapsed on to the chair once more, giving up his anger entirely. There was just no arguing with Yuu when it came down to it. It was going to be hard for Kai to just forget the man's way of 'like' for the teen. Would you seriously force an injured person to work? Kai thought to himself while he stared down at the ground. He wouldn't be able to look Yuu in the face after feeling like he just lost. He just hoped Yuu didn't find him annoying, easily getting angry over everything. Couldn't Yuu see that he was getting angry for his own sake, for his safety? What if something happened to him? Like his injury opened or something? Kai groaned and brought his hand up to his face, pinching the bridge of his nose. He just didn't know what to do or how to feel in this place. And he doubted he ever would know.

"Thanks for getting angry for me. I can't get angry about these things and I'm glad you care enough about me to get angry. I'm glad out of everyone's doorstep I could have ended up on, I crashed on yours." He was so happy again and he reached his hands up wanting to give Kai a hug. It has been too long since they were actually able to hug and, even though he was still injured, Yuu really wanted this. He didn't even care who was around to see.

Kai rose his head when he heard Yuu speaking to him. He witnessed already what it was like when the teen fell quiet, Kai didn't want that to happen ever again. He realized very quickly, that he enjoyed the boys touch more then he possible could. In fact he enjoyed Yuu's touch more then he had enjoyed anyone's touch before. When he watched as Yuu lifted his arms in hopes to hug Kai, he stood up to sit on the bed, beside Yuu. He gently pulled Yuu against his chest, resting his chin on Yuu's head. It felt like months since Kai last felt Yuu like this. It was just a hug, but to Kai it was something more. "Sometimes I wonder why I get angry so easily. Its like that's all I ever am...." He sighed as he hugged Yuu against him. If anyone decided to pull them apart now, Kai would surely go insane.

Yuu put his arms around Kai's waist where he could. His right arm was still unable to reach out completely because of the shoulder issue but his left arm had no problem making it all the way. His right hand just stayed on Kai's side. The hug was just the warmest he'd felt in a long time. It really did feel like an eternity since they were able to do this and no one dared disturb them. Everyone here required some form of human contact and they could see Yuu was no exception. Not to mention, to them, Yuu was still a kid and everyone knew kids needed this more then anyone else. The young general was able to relax so much after just this and he never wanted Kai to leave. Yuu then pulled away and moved to the edge of the bed where he pat the mattress next to him so Kai would crawl in and join him. Was there a lot of room? No. Could they lay down without laying on their sides? No. Did Yuu give a shit? Nope. He wanted Kai as close to him as he could.

When Yuu pulled away from the hug Kai almost retaliated and pulled him back. But soon enough he found that Yuu was merely moving over, making room for Kai to enter the bed with him. Kai smiled, he wouldn't hesitate in the least. Sure there was only enough room for the two of them if they laid on their side, but heck, there was no way he'd pass up this offer. Kai stood up before re-positioning himself and laying on his side on the bed. Kai held out his arms for Yuu to slide in next to him. The smile on Kai's lips was evident and if anyone thought it was fake, then they definitely needed a vision test. Kai was all to glad to be lying next to Yuu like this.

Yuu had to shift onto his left side with Kai pulling in behind him. This was the only position he could lay but he felt all of Kai's warmth now pressing against his back and the two snuggled close. Yuu smiled as well and held onto Kai's hand as his arm wrapped over the teen. It was so nice to feel human contact like this that Yuu actually fell asleep. He found himself dosing off in his friend's arms and loved every second of it. No one was coming near them, no one was bothering them, it was just them and they could just rest peacefully.

Kai pulled Yuu closer when he rested beside him. He didn't want to squeeze to hard and end up hurting him, so he just held him close enough to his stomach. Kai rested his chin on Yuu's head like he had done plenty of times before. He felt Yuu grab his hand and hold it as Kai wrapped hi arms around him. This affection was always welcome, but no other then Yuu would be allowed to do so. Soon after they had lay down together, Kai could hear the soft breaths that told him Yuu had fallen asleep. He couldn't blame the teen, sitting in bed, doing nothing but stare at the walls, it would make anyone tired all the time. But it was when Kai's own mind started to drift away that he thought maybe there was more as to why Yuu fell asleep so quickly. Eventually Kai too fell sleep, deeper then he had any other night he'd slept since they ran away from Kai's home.

Yuu woke fairly late that day, actually, it was dinner time by the time he actually woke up. It had been such a nice nap that he didn't want to get up but his stomach was snarling at him to put something inside it. Yuu stayed put for a moment longer before he finally shifted to try and look behind him. He still didn't have full range of his neck from where the admiral stabbed that as well and he was stuck waiting for a bit before he sat up and turned basically his whole body in order to be able to see Kai. Yuu was hurting all over but he ignored it and looked for the medic to be able to get some food. They planned on just feeding Yuu some soup but he was so hungry from only eating a bowl of oatmeal the day before that he begged for something more filling. They gave him a pretty good grilled chicken dinner with fries and everything. Yuu was at least in a healthy enough state to be able to eat whatever he wanted as long as he didn't strain himself to get it or to move his head around too much.

Kai woke up during the late morning before Yuu. He woke and stayed in the bed, still holding Yuu, until lunch. When Yuu still hadn't woken up, and Kai's stomach was now screaming for food, he decided he'd get up and get some food. He didn't want to leave Yuu, but he decided he'd get himself some food and be right back. When he got to the cafeteria he found it fairly empty, glad that no one he'd met so far had been there. He grabbed a tray of food and returned to the room and the chair by Yuu's bed. He ate it slowly and when finished placed the tray under the chair, out of the way. When Yuu still slept, Kai found himself bored more so then before. With no one to talk to. He sat in the chair and stared at the ceiling while he waited for Yuu.

When Yuu woke up it was late. Dinner was being served. Kai decided lunch was enough for him for today and missed out on dinner. But he definitely couldn't hold in his bladder any longer. When Kai returned to the room again, Yuu was awake and had been given a sandwich. Kai hurried over to Yuu and sat down in the chair, smiling at Yuu. "Good evening, sleepy head." Yuu had bed hair, and Kai couldn't help but chuckle at it.

"Good evening," Yuu replied still looking a bit sleepy. He waved a little and continued to eat the chicken and fries. "This is so good..." He moaned a bit as if he was going to fall back to sleep but he stayed awake continuing to eat. He was so hungry and this food was actually filling. Once Yuu finished his meal, he placed his tray on the small table next to the bed and nuzzled into the blankets again. "We should get a cake for when we can get out of this place or at least when I am done with tomorrow's work... To think I am going back to work for three days... It feels like I haven't been there in forever but it's only been a couple weeks."

Kai watched Yuu eat, clearly enjoying the meal he had been given. Kai was glad he ate all of it and smiled when Yuu snuggled back into the sheets and bed. "The cake idea again, huh?" He laughed just a bit when Yuu mentioned getting a cake. Kai didn't think he'd be bringing it up sober like he had when he was drunk. Kai leaned back in the chair and nodded. "Yeah, I can probably go for a cake." He listened as Yuu silently sighed about having to go back to work and Kai sat up again. "I still don't know how the admiral can just make an injured person just work. Are you going to be okay with it?" He leaned over and touched Yuu's forehead, looking down at him. "I'll be there with you, so if you can't handle something anymore...please, let me know."
