Yuu woke up and looked around seeing everyone was asleep. It was the middle of the night after all. "Fucking... doctor..." He complained and tried to get up. Yuu was absolutely starving having not eaten in such a long time. He had such a light breakfast that day too... The only other meal he had was breakfast of the previous day too. He moved to find himself cuffed to the bed. "What the hell," Yuu groaned and reached for his sword. He couldn't with his good hand and his bad shoulder wasn't about to let him stretch for a blade. "Damn it..." He whimpered before flopping back on the bed as if admitting defeat. Yuu was stubborn but even he lost to the doctor.

Kai had fallen asleep that night without eating dinner. He was starting to get used to skipping meals. Even more now then before meeting Yuu. He was sound asleep until he began hearing rummaging sounds from the bed over. He figured Yuu was just tossing and turning. His body now restless from the medicine. But when he heard the clinking sound of the cuffs against the bed he got up. Sitting up in bed he yawned, while scratching at the back of his head. "Yuu? Can you not fall back asleep?" Kai could barely see anything through the dark of the room. Of course he didnt really try. He practically kept his eyes closed while he spoke to Yuu.

"I've been asleep for two days... I'm not really tired... But you go back to sleep. I'm just restless because I haven't eaten in what feels like forever so don't worry about me, I'll make it till morning." He didn't want to bother Kai any more especially since it was the middle of the knight and he needed sleep. The young general wanted to get up and go find himself food but there was no where to go. The food court wouldn't even be open until tomorrow and the kitchen was all locked up.... One of these places really should have a small fridge for cases like this just in case.

Kai got off the bed and walked around to the other side of Yuu's bed. He remembered the hours posted on the cafeteria door. So at this time it wouldnt be opened. He had no idea where else there would be food. But luckily they had the bags they brought with them when they ran away. One bag still had some food in it. He pulled out a bag of chips and held them up to show Yuu. "We still have the snacks from my place." He sleepily smiled at the teen before placing the chip bag in Yuu's lap after opening it. Kai walked back around to his bed and sat on it. He didnt go back to sleep right away.

Yuu couldn't see properly with how dark it was, there only being a little light from the machines, but he could tell they were chips. The teen then realized with one arm in a sling and the other cuffed to a bed, this was going to be difficult. Yuu shifted and pulled his arm painfully from the sling but he made sure not to make a sound so Kai wouldn't worry. He then began eating the chips. "I use to never be allowed to eat in the middle of the night even when I stole food from the food court." He smirked a bit as he continued eating the chips. "Though back then, I only wanted to eat in the middle of the night so I wouldn't get caught snacking... I was always caught."

Kai was still half asleep, so he had completely forgotten about Yuu's sling. Luckily he didnt hear when Yuu pulled his arm out of it to start eating. Kai heard the crunch of a chip knowing he was eating the bag. When Yuu spoke out about him getting caught while trying to eat in the middle of the night, Kai let out a small chuckle. "Yeah, i can see you being that kind of kid." He liked the thought that came to mind of a little Yuu sneaking around the base trying to get food. It made him feel a little more closer to the teen.

Yuu snickered and finished off the bag of chips. He let the back gently land on the ground since he couldn't put it anywhere else and he relaxed letting himself rest again. "I'm alright now, thank you." Yuu made himself comfy and acted like he was going back to sleep. "Good night," He whispered knowing there really was no going back to sleep for a while. He would sit and think for several hours and eventually bore himself into a nap until morning came around and he was able to actually wake up and hopefully go get some real food.

Kai heard the small crinkly thud of the bag as it landed on the ground. Then Yuu's quiet voice of being all right. He could hear the sheets moving around, a sign that Yuu was resting back against the bed. Then he heard Yuu's whisper of 'goodnight' and then the silence that came. Kai stayed sitting in bed for a little while longer before he too returned to laying down and fell back asleep. He stayed well asleep until the middle morning. A time he seemed to be getting used to get up at.

Yuu had a harder time getting his arm back in the sling after getting it out but he managed before Kai woke up again. The general just had to deal with the cuffs next before he could go get some food. He was actually shocked they weren't caught by the admiral because he'd been keeping a close eye on the teen since he'd gotten here. The medic came over to remove the cuffs from Yuu but sent a nurse to go get his breakfast. "You're not going anywhere but you will need that hand in order to eat." the medic explained before noticing the bag of chips on the floor. He picked it up and glared at Yuu who was looking away feeling bad that even at this age he was still getting caught.

Kai had woken up in time for the medic to come over and uncuff Yuu. He sluggishly sat up on bed and yawned. He noticed the look of the medic as he looked down at Yuu and held the bag up. Kai instantly felt guilty about it and spoke up. "Ah sorry, that was me. I skipped dinner and got hungry last night." He wasnt sure if the medic believed him. But as Kai stretched his arms out over his head he looked at the medic with one eye opened. He wasnt going to let Yuu take the blame himself. It was he who grabbed the back for the teen in the first place. Kai rested his arms and placed them behind his back as he leaned backwards on them.

"Don't try to stick up for him Kai. You'd have to be sitting on this bed for these to land on this side. I'm not even made that he was hungry and ate, I'm angry because I means he took his hand out of the sling to eat." Yuu huffed as the medic explained.

 

"You're the one that left ed me cuffed so I didn't have a choice," he retaliated. The medic looked down at Yuu and sighed knowing he lost this one.

 

"You still could have asked Kai for help." The medic added before taking the bag to throw it out.

Kai tied to speak up again. But Yuu and the medic had clearly began their own conversation. He sat and watched as he stayed on the bed. The medic soon walked away and threw out the bag. Kai looked back at the teen and scratched at his head with one hand, the other still resting behind him. "Sorry Yuu. I didnt want you to take the blame alone. And...if i hadnt forgotten about the sling like i did, then i would have helped you." He was never again waking up half asleep again. From now on when he woke up, he woke up.

"Don't worry about it Kai. As a matter of fact it didn't even hurt to eat without the sling. I was careful not to strain my injuries and not move my shoulder so it wasn't bad. The only part that hurt was getting the sling on and off with that hand. Honestly, I'm alright and my injures haven't gotten worse or opened up so I'm ok." He smiled a bit showing that he really was fine. The doctor made a bigger deal about it then it really was. Sure there was a risk but he was very careful with how he handled himself so it really wasn't that bad.

Kai leaned forward on his knees, resting his elbows on the upper parts of his legs. "Well, so long as your not in too much pain." He looked down at the floor. He fell silent for a moment. He honestly was glad about Yuu waking up, that he was staying in bed like he was supposed to. But he wanted to let hi know he felt a little guilty about keeping him here. "Hey, Yuu.." He started off in a low voice, he slowly raised his head to look t the other. "I'm sorry for doing what we did. We had to get you to rest some how. And keeping you here was the only way. Kai didn't want to sound like he was making excuses. He just wanted the other to know that it was for his own safety.

"What's done is done, no use worrying about it now." It wasn't really like Yuu to just drop a situation like that but he knew Kai wanted nothing more then to take care of him and everything so what was the point in making him feel any worse then he seemed to already feel. "Seriously Kai, don't worry. To be honest I probably would have ended up killing myself if you hadn't stepped in and given me the clear reality check I needed. So, thank you." He wasn't too use to saying these things but Yuu did want to help Kai feel better about the situation.

Kai smiled a little more, knowing Yuu was feeling fine about the situation. He didn't think Yuu was going to drop it so quickly, but he stood corrected. Kai sat up more too, watching the other in the bed beside him. "Im glad I was able to help though. Those guys are really well trained. It sort of surprised me to see them so well off." He looked up at the ceiling thinking about the trainees. He really was surprised to see them so well trained already. He guessed that the base was doing one thing right. Of course it was originally Yuu who was training them.

"Well they have been training for 5 or so months I think. My memory here is a bit fuzzy but I do know they've been working hard for a long while. I'm glad they got your seal of approval." Yuu smiled a bit and looked up at the ceiling. He was so hungry and the nurse that went to get his food was taking forever. Yuu could have eaten one of his arms off right then and there. "So did the trainees take kindly to you alone? I know how they get and those without rank are typically screwed."

The room fell silent for a moment before Yuu spoke up again. He mentioned how the trainees normally reacted to those with no rank. Kai shook his head at the comment. "I had no problems at all. The trio helped out a little bit too. But that was about it." He fell silent then. He told the medic about his grandfather. But he wondered if he should tell Yuu. Kai couldnt belive it himself. Just then the nurse sent to get Yuu's food came back in. He knew how hungry the other must have been, not having anything to eat besides a bag of chips.

Yuu was impressed. He was going to compliment and comment on the trio but then the nurse walked in and he turned full attention to her, perking up like a dog at dinner. The nurse handed him the tray and Yuu couldn't even be bothered to ask what took so long. He dug in right away and started devouring the food like an animal. The teen's stomach was so empty it felt like a bottomless pit and Yuu wanted to ask for seconds before he was even at the half way point in his meal, but the nurse was already gone so that was useless.

Kai wacthed as Yuu inhaled his food. "Whoa, hey, slow down Yuu." He didn't think he was that hungry to begin with. When the nurse walked away, Kai could see that he wanted say something. He tilted his head and smiled. "Don't tell me you already want more food? You've just started this tra..." His words trailed off. Yuu was nearly done already. He stood up and patted Yuu on the head. "I'll go get some more. But you have to eat it slower." Kai left the medical room, heading for the cafeteria. It took him no amount of time to enter, find a tray of food for Yuu and bring it back to the medical room. When he returned Yuu was done his tray and waiting for the second one. Kai shook his head and placed it on Yuu's lap. Then he ruffled his hair. "Seriously Yuu, eat it slower."

Yuu couldn't even be bothered to slow down on the first one and finished it off before Kai even returned. The teen placed the tray to the side and waited, seeing Kai come back in and give him the tray. "Alright, Alright. I was just so hungry so you can't blame me for eating." Yuu smiled a bit and started at the next try. He was eating much slower this time and glanced about. It was really strange that the admiral hadn't come to see him in some time. Was it because of Kai or was it something else that was bugging him? Maybe he was just too busy with work.... that had never stopped him before so what was it....

Kai sat back on his bed and watched Yuu eat. He was glad the teen decided to eat slower this time. Kai wasnt all that hungry himself, so he didnt grab himself any food while he was at the cafeteria. Then he spoke up. "Your going to have to apologize to the trio, you know. They were seriously worried about you." Of it werent for the trio, Kai would have ignored Yuu's injuries. But because they pointed out when Yuu doubled over, he was able to help sooner. Kai felt a sting of quilt then. He really was going to start ignoring Yuu. He hated to even remind himself about it.

Yuu come back to earth when Kai spoke up and looked over at him as he mentioned the trio. "Ya, once I'm back on my feet without risk of farther injury, I'll go and thank them. Can't be seen in a wheelchair now, now can I?" He smirked. Yuu was alright with his situation right now. Sure it sucked on a number of levels but it could be a hell of a lot worse so he was thankful to still be alive. If it had been anyone else, they probably would have killed Yuu and dragged his body to the military and just collected their money without a second thought or moral.

Kai chuckled at Yuu's comment. "No, no you can't." It fell quiet between the two of them. Not an awkward quiet though. It was a good quiet. A relaxing quiet. Kai like this quiet. He felt the two were moving slowly together. Yuu was starting to accept the fact that he needed to rest now. And Kai was glad that he wouldnt have to argue with him about that anymore. He hated feeling like he meant nothing to the other. They were friends, right? So that meant they had to care for each other. He shook his head of the unwanted thoughts. Things were going to work out for them now

Yuu finally finished off his food and felt so at piece. He really liked this life with his friends and those that had taken care of... I was horrible that it would be ending soon and while Yuu wouldn't actually die, he certainly felt like he was on his deathbed. The teen glanced at Kai. At least one thing wouldn't change, he'd still have a friend at his side. Hopefully, Yuu will be able to fall for Kai they way he had this time and let them become more then friends.
