Kai heard the raspy breath of Yuu as he demanded for another round. Kai sure as hell would have given him another, but not too long after he had spoken up, Yuu had fallen into slumber. Kai listened to his breathing and slowly both of their breathing came to a slow steady breath in and breath out. Then Kai tore off his own shirt and tried to clean up what he could of his semen. When he finished, he threw it to the corner of the closet, fixed Yuu's pants and turned around, letting Yuu fall on his back. Yuu didn't even wake up until the next day when the admiral came in and forced him up. Yuu was put into normal street clothes and gave the military everything that pertained to them. The teen was suppose to give up his sword but he would be allowed to keep it if and only if Kai promised to say that it belonged to him if Yuu should ever find it but Kai was suppose to keep it hidden and where Yuu hopefully would never come across it. The military had already set up a new home for the two, a kind of temporary house until Kai got a new job and decided to move them out. Of course, if he didn't want to move they were free to stay there but the military would always have eyes on them so long as they were there.

 

The two then were taken to a secret place under ground and they were separated into two different rooms. However, Kai could watch through a one way mirror. The door between the rooms was locked and Yuu sat in a chair where they placed a strange helmet on him. He sat back and looked towards Kai mouthing the words "I love you" just before closing his eyes and waiting. Wiping someone's memory wasn't as easy as snapping your fingers and they had to apply more and more pressure, till it was done. Of course, as soon as the machine was turned on Yuu started screaming in pain. He screamed and wailed for almost three hours until everything went silent. The let Kai into the room and turned everything off. They took off the helmet and Yuu looked awful. His eyes had zero signs of life in them and if not for his slowly rising and falling chest, he may as well have been dead.

 

"I don't know why you want this empty shell. It's not going to be like last time. He doesn't even have those slight remnants of simple speech. This kid is like a new born baby, a doll until you do something with him." The admiral explained the situation while lifting Yuu's limp body up and carrying him towards the door where they got them into a car. The car would drive the two to the safe house and it was now left to Kai alone to care for the lost kid. The admiral's last statement was, "He's not allowed to know his last name. Whether you use his first name or not is up to you. Heck, you could rename him entirely but the name Heiba stays with the military."

Kai hated the morning all ready. Yuu hadn't woken up until the admiral and whoever cam to get him. Kai had barely slept the entire night and watched Yuu-his Yuu-sleep. When the admiral came in he forced Yuu awake. Forcing him into normal street clothes and removing him from the medical room. Kai had fought with the military the moment they showed up. They had taken their things to a car that was already waiting for them, and the admiral told him they could keep his sword, so long as he kept it hidden from Yuu. Then they had announced that they had set up a house for them to move into. Kai had fought savagely against the idea. He wanted to return to his home, their home. Not some house that would watch them every minute of the day.

 

The two walked together down whatever halls and into whatever rooms they were forced through. Eventually, and all too soon, Yuu and Kai were separated. Each room had a chair in the middle, Kai's had a normal wooden chair. Yuu's had a more sturdier chair and so many gadgets and table and wires all around. Kai could tell he was the only one who could see the other. And he hated it. His fists clenched so tightly that his nails dug into his palms and made him bleed. Then when he knew it was ending, Kai caught Yuu's lips mouth the words he longed to hear from the other. His eyes flew open and he ran to the window, banging on it until he was pulled away.

 

For three hours. Three fucking hours he was forced to listen to the screams of the one he loved. His mind was being tortured just as much as Yuu's was. He hd cried out himself a few times, demanding them to stop hurting Yuu. They never did, and Kai became a man of un-trust once more. He hated everyone except Yuu. He would never forgive anyone except Yuu. He would are for no one except Yuu. From now on, Kai would surround his life around Yuu. He stepped into the room where Yuu sat and stroked his cheeks. He was covered in sweat and god knew what pain he was still in. Kai watched in rage as men came to get Yuu and bring him to the car waiting for them.

 

"You'll never know what it's like to love. A man who claimed to be his foster did nothing to help him. I pity you, admiral. I really do." Kai never looked at the man and instead spat at him in rage as he stared at the empty door frame. He could care less about what the man said. He just wanted to be as far away as he could be from him. Then he turned his glare on the admiral before walking out of the room. He didn't need to take the military name with him. There was no need. "That's fine," he spat out, his eyes filled with rage. "He doesn't need the name. He can have mine. The name of Futomi. A proud name that you should never be allowed to utter." Kai left the man in the room to his own thoughts as he walked off to be with Yuu again.

Once they arrived at the new safe house, the driver stopped in front of it. It was a nice family home with 3 floors, 2 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, and plenty of room to move around. There was even a front and back yard with enough space for two small in ground swimming pools in each yard. There weren't any pools but they could add them if they wanted to. The driver rolled down his window to talk to Kai before he vanished. "You are free to move back to your old home if you want to. It is safe enough without our eyes on it but just remember that it's not free to live there. It is free to live here... though you do need to get your own food. It comes with heating, air conditioning, and working plumbing and electricity so food really is your only expense here. Hurry and get back on your feet ok?" He smiled before rolling up his window and driving off after everything was out of his car.

 

Yuu was still like a doll and who knows how long it would be before he even showed any kind of response to anything. He had to be moved and didn't even bat an eye at the talking or anything. His ears and head were still ringing so he couldn't actually hear or really see anything so there was no way to respond anyway. It was taking everything his brain had just to keep his heart beating and body breathing.

 

Back at the military, the admiral was left with something serious to think about. He had no idea Futomi was Kai's last name and could he really be related to the old admiral. Eugene was about to rush off but found himself staring at the car. He did know love and hated to watch the child that irritated him but that he loved without showing it, disappear for good. Once the car was long out of sight, the admiral then turned to go talk to the medic about the situation at hand. Unless something serious happened, Yuu and Kai would never hear from or see the military again.

The car drove in silence the entire way. But soon enough the car had come to a stop in front of a home. The last time he had been in a home like this he had a family. The driver rolled down his window and addressed them about living here or back at Kai's apartment. He hated the fact of staying here. But with Yuu's state, there was no way his apartment was safe enough for the younger male. While the driver removed their things from the car, Kai helped Yuu out. He was motionless, like the admiral had stated, a doll. He stood in the yard, things piled on either side of him and Yuu in his arms. He watched as the car drove off, leaving them standing there.

 

Kai brought Yuu into the house and found the first bedroom. He laid him down on the bed and moved the sheets around to lay them on top of the younger male. He looked down at the other for a minute before leaving to get their things. He threw the bags on the floor, set Yuu's sword against a wall and found a key to the home on the table beside the door. He locked it and tossed the key on the kitchen counter. Kai had no idea what to do. What to think. Food the driver had said, was one thing they needed. Not now, there was no way he was in the mood for food. Kai returned to Yuu's room and watched the other sleep for a long time. Unable to leave him alone, wishing he could have to the other in his arms again. His lips parted for a moment and then shut. Then parted again and whispered out. "I love you, Yuu." He stroked his cheek again and placed a kiss on it.

Yuu remained dead-eyed for a long while even after being moved to the bed. It wasn't for another good while before his eyes finally slid closed just before Kai entered the room and came to his side. While it was such a small thing, being able to close his eyes at least meant he'd be able to rest even with how messed up he was. He would have slept forever if the instinctive need for food didn't wake him around dinner time. His eyes opened, still looking dead. Yuu had no way of communicating so he just laid there staring blankly at the ceiling with nothing left to do.

 

After an hour of just being like this, his stomach was the first to let the quiet room know he was hungry. It snarled and begged to be fed since Yuu hadn't eaten since about lunch the day before. Still, even his stomach roaring wasn't enough to create any kind of sound simulation to the teen's brain. He still couldn't ear right... not that he could understand any sounds that may have gone through anyway.

Kai had been sitting sinlently on a chair he had brought in from another room, watching the other breath. There was nothing else he could do, besides drown himself in the turmoil's of his mind. He couldn't understand the depth of where his thoughts were taking him. He couldn't understand what they had been through for months on end. He couldn't understand what the military was now. All he knew was that he and Yuu were together again. In a home he didn't know. And Yuu was still as unresponsive as he had been when they last left the military.

 

Soon however he heard a rumbling in the room. Kai couldn't pin point it at first, but when it went off again he could tell where it came from. Yuu's stomach growled with vigor and Kai let out a laugh. Even if he was motionless, his stomach was still the same old Yuu. Kai stood up to find something to eat. But soon he stopped. What was Yuu supposed to eat? He couldn't even chew, let alone open his mouth. So what was he supposed to eat? Yogurt, applesauce, things like that would work. But where was he supposed to find them? He didn't even know where the nearest store was. Kai felt at a loss when he tried to think of what to do.

Yuu still couldn't exactly make out sounds properly but his eyes finally shifted as Kai left the room, watching him go before once again returning to stare up at the ceiling. At least the last time he lost his memory, there was still something in his brain that helped him function like a human being now there was nothing left. Maybe, just maybe, there was some muscle memory etched into his being but that was still a bit far fetched to believe in his state, though hopefully he'd be able to recover that much soon enough.

 

The house they were in was in a small neighbor hood with a small supermarket about a mile and a half from their home. There were other homes around as well so it wasn't like they were isolated. Of course it was impossible to see the supermarket from the house but if Kai just walked straight down this road and took a right, he'd make it there in about 15 minutes, walking. There was a knock on their door where a young couple with a baby in the dad's arms stood just beyond the door. The couple hoped they weren't disrupting dinner at this hour but had a plate of muffins on a small tray. When Kai finally opened the door she offered them to him as a house warming gift and welcomed him. As far at they knew, they just obtained new neighbors. Nothing suspicious about that.

Kai left the room and looked around the kitchen. Nothing. Absolutely nothing. They couldn't have stocked them with some sort of small starting supply? He huffed out when he realized chastising them wasn't going to get him anywhere. He hated the thought of leaving Yuu alone. But he'd have to find a store somewhere. Suddenly a knock came at the door. Kai looked around for a clock, having discarded his watch back at the military base. It wasn't late, but he was still suspicious of the company. When he opened the door a small family stood behind it. Offering him some muffins and a small welcome. Before they had left he asked them about a store and they told him about the nearby supermarket.

 

Kai grabbed the key, grabbed his wallet and took off for the store. Not first before locking the door behind him. He took off at a dead run, making it to the supermarket in ten minutes. Five minutes less then the supposed time it would have taken him walking. Inside the store he found some fast frozen dinners for himself and whatever food he could find the was drinkable. Yogurt, applesauce, mashed potatoes, fruit juices, shakes. Kai almost bout out all of it. Soon enough he was using up a good chunk of his money. Luckily he left most all of it back at the house. He returned soon after with four bags of food. He put all the food away before grabbing a thing of yogurt and a spoon he had bought and went to Yuu's room.

Yuu had stared blankly at the ceiling the whole time Kai was out. His eyes shifted ever so slightly to try and look at the other. It was faster then expected but Yuu was actually showing signs of response even if they were these tiny moments. Of course his body wouldn't listen to anything so Yuu still had to be sat up by Kai and basically force fed. It seemed to be a lot of work just getting the teen to eat the simple yogurt so it was easy to see just how hard it was going to be in order to take care of someone with a brain that may as well be dead.

 

Once Kai left to take care of the empty yogurt and spoon, Yuu closed his eyes again and went back to sleep until morning. It was mid morning when the teen woke up. His body instinctively sat him up, using his arms to hold himself. Of course he thought he could move his arms and ended up falling onto his back again. He had no idea what he was suppose to do. At least the ringing in his head and ears stopped and his eyes seemed to hold a tiny bit of life in them now.

When Kai made it back to the room Yuu slept, he noticed the slight flash of his eyes glimpse in his direction. He felt hopeful. Somehow Yuu was recovering slightly faster then he had thought. And perhaps he would continue. Kai set the yogurt he brought to the other on the table beside the bed before helping Yuu sit up. Kai had gently pulled him into a sitting position before climbing into bed behind him. He sat sideways and bent a knee up. Yuu rested against his leg while Kai helped him eat the yogurt. When he finished, Kai laid Yuu back down and left the room.

 

The following morning Kai returned to Yuu's room and found him awake. He had missed the other's sudden adventures to prop himself up and merely walked over and pushed the hair out of his face. Yuu was still doll like, with no emotion or movement in his body. Kai left the room for a moment and returned with an applesauce in hand and the spoon. He did like before and sat behind Yuu as he helped him eat the applesauce.

It was a bit easier to feed the teen the second time around because at least this time his body remembered how to swallow. By the third scoop, he was even opening his mouth on his own. Opening and closing it like a baby. Even drooling like one at times. At least if he was to act like an infant, he was a good one and didn't make much noise. His eyes observed Kai's every move as he instinctively tried to learn just from watching. There wasn't much to watch since most of what Kai did was outside the room but the simple motions of using a spoon was helpful.

Kai smiled as he fed Yuu. Slowly the other was starting to learn movements. He had begun to swallow after several bites and neck strokes from Kai to help the food go down. Then Yuu started opening his own mouth. Although it was perfect, Yuu had ended up drooling as he ate, but he still managed to eat and swallow on his own. Kai would wipe away the drool when it came and would merely wipe it on his own pants and continue feeding Yuu. Kai didn't care that Yuu was motionless, he was learning. Maybe he would never be the Yuu he wanted him to be. But he would still be Yuu non the less. Kai held on to the small hope that the old Yuu would come back quick.

Once the teen was finished eating, he couldn't help but continue to watch ever move Kai made. This was something even infants could do and when Kai shifted to try and lay Yuu down again, he didn't budge and actually stayed sitting up on his own. Every part of his body was still fully developed so it was easy to do certain things once his body knew which muscles to use. After months of being bed ridden, he was once again unable to move beyond the bed. The teen's eyes gained more and more life with each passing moment Kai and Yuu spent together.

Kai had moved out from behind Yuu as he finished eating, but when he tried to help Yuu lay down once more, the teen kept himself sitting up. Kai was surprised at first, but his face quickly softened with a smile. Kai truly was glad Yuu was learning so fast. That he was once more gaining life in his own body once more. Unfortunately months had passed for the two of them. Although Yuu was able to move a little bit more and his eyes held more life in them, he was still bed ridden. Kai had made sure to spend more time with him, only leaving when he needed to get more food and other supplies. Each time Kai moved, Yuu would eventually learn something from his actions. Kai had grown slightly lonely, even though Yuu was sitting right beside him and he was talking to him everyday. But Yuu was still not completely Yuu, and Kai couldn't help feeling lonely.

So much time seemed to have gone by... it almost felt like a life time, and yet, Yuu still hadn't even been able to learn how to talk. He was a complete mute and the two being basically shut in worried the neighbors. It didn't take long for everyone to believe Kai was living in the house alone. After so long, one of the neighbors finally couldn't stay silent and he went over and knocked on the door. When Kai finally answered the door he said, "I'm Kojaku, I live across the street. My wife is going away on a business trip and I planned on inviting some buddies over tomorrow night for some cards and drinking. Would you like to join us? We could use a 6th player." He was really hoping Kai would say yes.

 

Upstairs, Yuu finally moved himself out of the bed and placed his feet in the ground. He stood up trying to imitate what he'd seen Kai do many times. The teen was wobbly, his legs hadn't been used in far too long and he ended up sitting back on the bed. He wanted to keep trying though.
