Kai literally hadn't moved since he first sat on the floor. He didn't care about the shattered glass or about the water. He just cared about how Yuu was going to treat him after finding out what happened. It was quiet for several moments, very faintly he could here water splashing as Yuu washed himself. Then he heard small pattering of feet leaving the bathroom with a voice calling out to him. He took a moment before he even managed to look at the direction of the voice. Although he couldn't see him until he left the kitchen. In which he did, very slowly. As he turned the corner to go down the hallway where Yuu stood he froze. Yuu was dressed in just a towel, which gave him every opportunity to see the bruise on his neck. Kai clenched his fist again, looking away just slightly.

Yuu walked over to him and took his hand. He placed Kai's hand on the bruise. "If you don't want to see it then cover it up. It doesn't even hurt. Give me a day and I'll be back to normal tomorrow." That was the truth. If anyone could come back from hell even stronger, it was Yuu. "Also, I'm gonna take your advice and I plan on living here until I remember so you're gonna have to put up with me even longer." His voice was calm and gentle.

 

Yuu then turned to the bedroom and got dressed into what he could find before walking out again. "By the way, aren't we suppose to be going out today?" The hangover was basically done and he was ready for a nice easy day to stretch his legs.

Kai was shocked when Yuu came over to him, grabbing his hand and placing it on his neck. Kai's hand twitched, but he didn't remove it. Yuu's powerful words made Kai look at him, straight at him. He rubbed his thumb over Yuu's skin, clenching his teeth as he did so. "Damn Yuu, how can you still trust me? I hurt you. This is my fault." He still didn't look away or remove his hand until Yuu stepped away and went to the bedroom. Kai stayed rooted to the spot where he stood, and it was when Yuu returned, dressed, did he slightly move. "I did promise that didn't I?"

 

It would be a while before Kai was able to feel like himself again. He hated the thought that he lost control so easily and hurt Yuu. He didn't think he'd want to stay any longer after that, but Yuu proved him wrong. He looked at Yuu again, a small smile forming at his lips. "It will hurt if we take the bike. But it shouldn't be too bad if we walk. Think you can go that long?" He motioned Yuu to follow him to the door, where he grabbed some shoes for him to borrow.

"Sure, I can make it." he walked over and took the shoes offered but then noticed his combat boots that were finally dry. "What about those ones? Aren't those mine?" He picked one up and inspected it realizing it was still in pretty good shape. "By the way, I don't remember anything that happened after you offered me that beer. As far as I know someone could have broken in and done this to me or I could have done it myself... probably not but you get it. Stop blaming yourself. I can handle more then you think." He said.

 

The two went out and though the sun was a bit too bright, Yuu sucked it up and walked alongside Kai. The farther they went the easier it became to move and the better the teen felt. His fever was gone and all the pain had numbed so he could enjoy the day out with his savior.

"Yeah they are, but...Just go ahead and wear those." Kai didn't know why, but he felt a need to keep him away from anything that had to do with his lost memory. Kai was grabbing his vest when Yuu mentioned about not knowing what happened last night. Kai answered with a dry remark that Yuu would have been able to hear, but he ignored it and opened the door, allowing Yuu to leave first.

 

They walked side by side, a steady pace easy enough for Yuu to walk. Kai kept his guard up the entire walk untlil they reached the inner city. He didn't like living where he did, but it was the only place he was able to afford. Kai looked down at Yuu to see how he was doing. It looked like the pain had subsided, he was walking a lot better then when they first left the house. He spotted the clothing store he was hoping to find clothes for Yuu at. "Come, this way."

Yuu could see Kai was hesitant about letting him wear his own boots so he placed the boot aside and wore the shoes offered to him. The teen got up and headed out.

 

When they did make it to the inner city, Yuu was quite impressed he looked around, amazed by everything he saw but quickly turned and followed Kai into the clothing store. Just before walking in, however, something caught his eye and while Kai had walked right in worrying about people, Yuu stared at the same poster he saw on the computer the night before. It was his wanted poster. Of course it wasn't too noticeable but it was there none the less describing a man with black hair, purple eyes, carrying a sword and with a large tattoo on his left arm. Luckily the tattoo was covered and he'd left his sword behind.

 

Yuu hurried in after Kai and came up really close behind him. "Please let me hide behind you... Word's already spread here." It was all he could whisper hoping Kai wouldn't make a scene and that they could just buy something and leave without a hitch.

Kai was already in the store looking for the area he'd find Yuu's size clothes when he noticed he wasn't following him. Kai looked behind him just as Yuu had entered the store and came up to hide right behind him. He didn't even have to ask what was wrong, because Yuu said it as soon as he hid. Kai looked back to where he was standing but couldn't see what it was that made Yuu slink away. When he noticed the area he needed to be looking for clothes, Kai reached for Yuu's hand and pulled him along gently. "Pick out as many as you want." He allowed Yuu to look around for clothes while he stepped a way for a moment and found some hats. Kai picked out a hat and came back to place it on Yuu's head. "Wear this for now. It wil at least hid your face a bit."

"Thank you," he whispered. Yuu pulled the hat low and then looked through the clothes. He pulled out three simple shirts and two pairs of pants that would fit. "These will work for me." He held up the three different colored shirts and pairs of black pants. He wasn't one for style and went simple. He got a black shirt, a dark green and a red one. He didn't get white because it might show his tattoo.

 

"Alright, I'm ready," he walked to the counter and placed the hat on there as well. Luckily the person at the counter really didn't care and wasn't paying attention to Yuu who'd backed himself behind Kai so Kai could pay. Yuu took a breath and stayed amazingly calm.

"That's it? Just three shirts and two pairs of pants?" Kai thought he would have wanted a little bit more clothing. When Yuu made it clear he was ready to buy the clothes and leave Kai shrugged it off. Although he had only met the kid a couple of days ago, he had already come to realize that he didn't ask for a lot. They passed by a sweatshirt stand and Kai grabbed a grey and black one. Not only were nights getting colder, but he figured Yuu could use a little more cover beside just a hat. When they reached the counter they threw the clothes on the counter and immediately Yuu retreated behind him.

 

After they had paid for the clothes and left the store, one large bag in hand, Kai looked to see what it was that made Yuu stop before. He found the wanted poster hanging up on the wall by the door and clicked his tongue. Not only ddi he get a call about this whole thing from a client. But now Yuu's picture was being posted everywhere. He looked over to Yuu after looking at his watch. It was already afternoon. Still to early to just head home, but to late to really go on doing other things. He figured he'd stop at the nearest store and buy a pack of cigarettes. His last one was used up his last job. "Come one, this way."

While Kai looked at the poster, Yuu pulled out the hat and put it on again. He then followed the older male to the next store where he bought some cigarettes. Yuu never did understand the joys of those things but he wasn't about to stop someone else from enjoying them.

 

"Is there enough time for us to get a bite to eat before heading home?" He wanted to stay out for a while no matter how dangerous it was. It's not like they could avoid the fact that there were posters on every other building searching for him. What Yuu didn't know was he had disappeared near here which was why there was extra stress on this city.

Kai hated the fact that he was a smoker. As a child he made sure to never get his hands on one. But after his family's death, the nerves Kai was unable to suppress was calmed with the nicotine he had decided to rely on. He wasn't a big smoker, he only smoked one when his nerves started to get the best of him. Which, would have come in handy this morning. Instead he still had shattered glass and a puddle of water waiting for him back at home. Yuu had asked about eating something before heading home, so Kai took one more look at his watch and nodded. "Yeah, we have time. I know about this really good burger shop nearby. How 'bout that?" He reached for Yuu's hand again, once more pulling him along. If they saw Yuu with him, then they' think nothing of it right?

"Sure, that sounds good to me." He kept his head down and no one seemed to recognize him. They made it to the restaurant and ate without a problem. It was when they were about to leave that they were boxed in by another bounty hunter. The man was quite a bit older and approached Yuu carefully and with a fairly gentle walk. He wasn't completely sure if he was right but he lifted the teen's hat away and then pushed his chin up. "Knew it," the man mumbled to himself and shoved Yuu back and pulled out a gun.

 

The man pointed the gun at Yuu who just stood there waiting for something to happen. He may not have his sword but Yuu was still quick on his feet and kept his eyes on the bounty hunter who was excited to collect his money.

Kai was paying the food bill when a man came up to Yuu, pulling off his hat and pointing a gun. It happened all so fast that no one else besides just the three of them knew what was happening. At first Kai didn't know what was happening, but as soon as he turned around to leave with Yuu he noticed the weapon. Instantly he pulled Yuu back enough to step between him and the gun. He was sure if he got shot at this point he would probably end up with a wound serious enough to send him to the hospital. But he wasn't about ready to let Yuu get shot at either. Besides, he as pretty sure he knew how to take care of this guy. "Yo, how about we step outside first." He glanced at the people sitting and eating their food.

 

Unfortunately they didn't make it out in time to keep everything hidden. Another person in the restaurant saw the gun and screamed. Now everyone was alert, those closest to the door running out, those who couldn't leave fast enough staying put. Kai clicked his tongue, now the cops were going to get involved. He had to do something fast.

Yuu ducked down and kicked the table into the man so he fell forward where the teen then stabbed a fork into the male's wrist so the gun slid out of his hand. Yuu grabbed his hat and pulled it on as he grabbed Kai's hand and lead him out of the shop. The teen ran as fast as he could but now his hips were beginning to give out on him. As he started to slow down he had to be pulled by Kai. He was getting wobbly but tried his best to keep up, his back starting to hurt.

 

"I'm sorry, I should have realized he was there sooner.... this is just going to get you into loads of trouble!!! I'm sorry Kai."

Kai was a bit shocked witnessing just how well Yuu managed to handle the situation. I mean, yeah he learned he was some sort of general, but he wasn't expecting that. Kai allowed himself to be lead away from the shop, but when he noticed Yuu starting to slow down he ran forward and began pulling him along. He didn't once look behind him, not wanting to find out if the man or the cops were following him. He heard Yuu call out to him, but he didn't answer right away. Atleast, not until he turned the corner down an alleyway which was a cut to their street. "Listen! Don't worry about me. I'll be fine. Just...I just don't want you hurt, got it?"

 

They finally reached the apartment and without stopping, except for unlocking the door, they ran into the apartment, slamming and locking the door behind them. In the main entrance Kai stood, still holding Yuu's hand, breathing heavily. He had his eyes closed, but even through his own breathing and heart beat, Kai could hear Yuu breathing just as heavily. "Ar-Are you...Okay?"

When Yuu got into the apartment he ended up falling to his knees he was panting and his body was in so much pain. The male gripped tightly to Kai's hand. "I'm ok.... i- I just need to rest." He said before his grip weakened and he fell to the ground completely. Yuu was far too exhausted and sore to keep himself up. It wasn't like he wasn't in shape but the damage to his body from the night before was no help at all.

 

"Sorry I did what I did. I attacked him completely out of instinct. I didn't even know I could do that...." Yuu closed his eyes and let himself rest in the middle of the hallway near the front door.

Kai knelt down to his knees just as Yuu had completely collapsed. He didn't realize how much pain he had been in, but Kai knew somewhere along the line that such movement all at once was not good for him. Kai rubbed Yuu's back, trying to help him calm down. "I didnt..think you could either." He watched as Yuu shook from his weakened state. When he got back his own breathing, Kai straightened before helping Yuu up. He didn't want to force him to move around, but Yuu needed to rest. Kai brought hi over to the bedroom and laid him on the bed. "Rest for now. I'm sure your body hurts." Kai went to the doorway and turned back to Yuu. "I'm going to go pick up the glass. Call me if you need something." He was going to walk away before stopping again. "I really am sorry about last night." Without even hearing a reply, Kai left the room and went to go pick up the mess.

Yuu was placed on the bed and hated that Kai was still blaming himself for what had happened. The teen would have been fine if that man didn't come and try and kill him and they were able to take their time home. Yuu shifted and sat up moving the blankets. "Speaking of last night," he mumbled to himself and started getting off the bed. They'd forgotten to change the sheets when they left and there was still dried cum and blood all over the bed. Yuu pulled the sheets off and laid on a single blanket unable to find the energy to find new sheets and make the bed. The male just laid down again and dosed off.

 

Yuu woke a few hours later when it was nearing dinner time. The male was stiff and still sore so he didn't even bother getting up and just rolled over and thought to himself for a bit. He hadn't regained any memories for the day and had already been attacked. Now more people would be lurking on this area in search for him. Probably police and more bounty hunters, heck the whole military was probably on its way to come hunt him down.

Kai had cleaned up the mess. He'd tossed out the glass into the trash and threw the wet rag into te laundry bin. By the time he was done, he still had time to do some work on his laptop. He had found the wanted poster once more, but this time he found a list of rewards to those who'd find Yuu. It looked like now the cops were even in on the whole search, even adding in the fact that Yuu was found with another male. He clicked his tongue knowing well that meant they were talking about him. Suddenly Kai's watch was being contacted. He accepted the call and answered.

 

When Yuu had woken up, Kai was still talking to the caller on his watch. "The hell you'll pay me!" There was a couple of thuds in the other room and then more yelling. "I'm telling you I fuckin' quit! Find your own damn gun and let him find me!" The call must hve ended, because Kai soon came into the room, stopping in the door way when he noticed Yuu was awake. "Did I wake you up"

"N-No.... not really..." He looked away knowing the call was about him. "Please don't lose your job over me. If you need me to leave then I will. I may not know where to go but I don't want to be such a huge burden to you. All you've done is show me kindness so I don't want you to end up arrested for helping me." Yuu looked really sad and wished he could move more so he could leave but he also wanted to stay with Kai where it was safer. It was clear with the look on his face that Yuu was pretty torn about his sittuation.

Kai sighed scratching the back of his head. Then he sat on the end of the bed, looking at Yuu. He could see the expression on his face. "I'm sorry Yuu, I think it might be too late for that." He leaned over, pulling Yuu gently by the back of his neck, then they touched foreheads. He smiled as gently as he can without making Yuu freak out. "Listen Yuu, we have to leave. If we don't someone is going to find us here." He pulled away, looking at Yuu. He didn't know what Yuu was going to say about this. But it neded to be said.

"If you run with me then you will be in even more trouble. Please, I'll leave on my own. This is your home and I won't make you leave for me!" Yuu was definitely not going to have Kai give up his life for a kid he barely knew. The teen even forced himself back and not his feet. It was clear he was way too weak now to really keep this up and he fell back onto the bed.

 

"You should wash those after I'm gone before anyone else finds my blood on them." He pointed towards the pile of sheets he had removed from the bed earlier. If anyone did come and found those they'd arrest Kai for sure. "Destroy any evidence that I was here and I'll vanish from here as the papers say I did from the army."

At one point they were both sitting on the bed and the next Yuu was trying to stand up and just leave. Kai was going to pull him back on the bed, but before he could Yuu had already lost his footing. When he pointed to the sheets, Kai had just realized that the sheets had been removed. The stain of blood made him flinch from quilt. He shook his head, it didn't matter if Yuu left or not. His clients always had eyes on him, making sure he was doing what they hired him to do. It just so happened he had been seen today by one of them. It was just a matter of time when they'd show up. "Yuu, its too late for me now. Someone will find me whether your here or not." He smiled again. He needed to get through to Yuu and let him know they were both wanted now.

"Ugh! I didn't want to do this to you..." He looked sad and he moved over closer to Kai. "Whatever, I don't know who this Yuushio Heiba is that everyone is after. All I know is that I'm Yuu and you're my friend, Kai." He didn't even want to know who he use to be anymore. As far as he was concerned, he was wanted for information he didn't even have and that he was now on the run from everyone with a man who'd saved his life.

 

"I'm sorry I can't walk on my own right now... Please, I don't want to be any more of a burden so if it seems like they're going to catch us because of me, then leave me behind and let them take me back to wherever I came from. I don't want you needlessly throwing away your life for me." This was the most he'd ever spoken thus far.

Kai watched Yuu as he panicked. He knew that this wasn't what he wanted to happen. But unfortunately there was nothing he could do now. He felt Yuu move closer to him. When Yuu demanded him to leave him behind if kai felt the need to escape without him, Kai almost burst into anger. "Wai-wait Yuu. Listen. That's not going to happen. You can be a burden all you want, I don't care. Just, don't tell me to leave you behind like that." He ruffled Yuu's hair. "If I'm your friend then I will protect you with my life, even if I end up killed myself."
