"Fell through thin ice."

Hiro smiled sadly.

"It would just be for the winter your talking like you might never see me again ." Hiro touched the others paw

"Trust me I'd never leave for good."

Tate couldn't help but let out a small chuckle. He didn't think a wolf, half or not, would let itself freeze to death after falling through ice. Not that it didn't happen, but normally that choice was decided when there was nothing, the wolf could to save felt Hiro pass his paws over his own. Winter is long, and I can't just leave my pack and follow you. But for a wolf who has joined a pack only to end up leaving...it....it doesn't feel right to me. He was honest with his feelings. He wasn't expecting Hiro to want to join the pack only to just up and leave because he couldn't handle the cold.

Hiro lowered his ears.

"It's no as if I'm asking you to go with me I know.you have things to do your a Alpha." Hiro letted out a sad whimper.

"I just can't handle the cold as well as I use to." Hiro sqwermed out from under Tate and headed towards the entrance of the cave.

" I'll be back I just need some time alone."

Tate knew he was being unfair. Until just the other day, Hiro was living his own way. He was used to human contact, unlike Tate who'd rather stay away from it. But he really didn't want Hiro leaving the pack, even for just a few months in winter. He was the alpha, which meant his orders were final....right? No, no. He shook his head, he couldn't order Hiro around just because he was now feeling possessive over him. He felt Hiro try to move out from under him and he let Hiro up. But when Hiro left the den, all Tate could muster was a cut off name before he left.

Hiro was a bit frustrated a decided as a way to teach Tate he was ok being on his own for a little while he decided that tonight he would stay in the city and return safe and sound.

 

By the time that the evening grew dark Hiro hadn't returned to the den and had done a pole act at a club in the city to earn his stay at a decent hotel for the night, after finishing up his round he dressed back up and left the stage declining men how asked his number despite Hiro not knowing what number they were talking about.

 

Hiro arrived at the hotel safe and sounds and locked the door. He some what wondered if Tate would follow his scent out here or be awaiting his return angrily.

Tate had left Hiro alone for a long while, thinking he was just roaming around his marked territory. Even a dog could tell when a boarder ended and started. But but the time the sun had completely set, Tate had grown worried. He paced the dens entrance, gaining the irritated grunt from Rein and the curious gazes of the others. Nobody said anything, knowing Tate wouldn't want to listen. Finally he gave in and decided to look for him. "I'll be back. Howl if something is wrong."

 

Tate left, leaving Hal calling out to him. He picked up on Hiro's scent easily and followed it all the way to the end of his boarder. Luckily for him no other pack claimed the territory after. The case being, that city now stood after. He caught up on Hiro's scent entering through the bright lights and noisy streets.

 

Tate didn't realize he had gone to the city and would have gone after him, had he changed into his clothes back at the den. But a butt naked man could not just enter the city lines. Tate stood and sat well into the night, but his narrowed expression showed how angry he was at the actions of his mate.

By the time that the night had turned to the early hours of the morning Hiro set back out to the wounds even though it was still dark out.

 

Upon arriving at the area with the city ended and the forest began he saw Tate sitting on the closest tree line waiting for his return, Hiro could tell that the other was furious without even having to get that close.

 

Hiro walked up to Tate his head hanging low.

"Sorry I got a little out of hand."

Tate had stayed at the territory boarder the entire night. The pack never howled to him, which he was glad about. When early morning came, before the sun and birds had woken up, Tate had found Hiro making his way back tot he forest. The breeze at the top of the hill was in his favor and before Hiro even came before him, Tate could smell other humans and city stench all over him.

 

Tate's fur bristled in annoyance and with no words to speak to the other he turned. The fact that he didn't cast Hiro out was good for Hiro. But Tate wouldn't so easily trust in him that quickly. For a wolf's met to leave for a night and return with another's scent was dishonor to the wolf. Especially if that wolf was an alpha.

 

Lukily for Tate his pack was understanding and wouldn't cast wrongful glances at either of them. Tate walked in silence back to the den, but instead of going inside to join the rest of his pack, he stayed outside. The sun was now starting to rise above the horizon, but Tate would remain outside by himself in silence.

Hiro just sat in the bushes near the den not wanting to go in and show his face. Tate hadn't spoke to him the while time he was back and it was beginning to get to him.

 

Hiro rolled around in the dirt assuming maybe Tate didn't like the scent of man made things? He had been to the club so he probably was tainted by something in the air most of the men that were there stank not unpleasant but if man made perfumes.

 

Hiro walked over Tate looking at him before sneezing causing a bit of the dirt to fall off him. Hiro gave the other a sad smiled that praticly read "better?"

In a normal wolf pack an alphas mate would have either been killed by the alpha himself or exiled from the pack and its territory. Disloyalty to an alpha was not tolerated in a pack and was dealt with quickly. However, Tate was partially human himself, so he had heart as to not exile someone from his pack unless he actually needed to.

 

He lay in front of the den as Hiro had walked away to roll in the dirt. Tate took notice, but did nothing to acknowledge it. When Hiro came to his side and gave him a forgiving smile, Tate huffed. How was he supposed to explain to Hiro what he had actually done? By the way things had been told, Hiro wasn't used to a wolf pack.

 

His tail thumped with uncertainty, and his ears stayed lowered. His fur were no longer bristling, but he was still very upset. His thoughts sent him in circles and he was unsure of what to do. His expression held lost in it and when he looked up at Hiro his voice was low. Do you even realize what just happened, Hiro? Do you realize why I'm so angry?

Hiro looked at the other with confusion in his eyes.

"No I don't." Hiro huffed softly.

"I didn't sleep around or go into anyone elses territory." Hiro's ears pointed downwards.

"I don't like it when your angry..." Hiro said softly not looking at the other unable to look him in the eyes.

Tate looked away from Hiro and out over the forest before him. Hiro you left the den, our territory and the pack. I wouldn't have minded if you said something. But you deliberately left. He looked back at the other, eyes of stern honesty bubbling inside. And I'm not going to lie. Those smells. I know very well where you went last night, and it doesn't make me any more happier. As wolf pack rules state, I should toss you from my pack, he shook his head from side to side. But I'm not going to do that. But I expect you to reflect on your actions. You'll spend a day unable to interact with anyone besides me and I won't shower you with my affection. But I will speak with you. His tail thumped once more, this time adding a hint of leadership in the sway of it.

"I didn't do anything though."

Hiro whined softly.

"I just wanted to prove go you that I would be OK on my own for a little while." Hiro slumpled agansit the ground in a sense of frustration.

"It's not like you like watching over me all the time."

I didn't say you couldn't take care of yourself. And if you got upset from me laughing before I do apologize. He looked straight into Hiro's eyes, a sign of dominance in normal wolves, but to Tate it was a way to make sure others understood what he meant. But you left the pack, without telling me. As a wolf that angers me. But as a human, what angers me more....is that you would even think about going to a place like that to pay for a night to stay somewhere. His eyes narrowed slightly, his falling against his head. How exactly is that taking care of yourself? What if something had happened? I wouldn't have known at all Hiro. I wouldn't have been able to help you.

Hiro turned into his human form and sat next to the other.

"But nothing did happen, I didn't go to the bad parts of the city either." Hiro laid back.

"You won't always be able to protect me Tate." Hiro looked at the other .

" I won't do that again." Hiro ruffled the others fur before pulling his hand away.

Tate watched as Hiro changed forms and sat next to him. He sighed. I know nothing happened, I can sense that. And I'm glad. I'd just rather not see you leaving the pack like that. Especially to the city. His body shivered at the thought. He'd seen things that he never wanted to see again. I know it's in your genes, unlike me who is a complete were, your only half. I get that. If you want to go to the city you can, just....don't stay an entire night and at least let me know. He felt the hand of the other ruffle his fur and he slightly felt better. He didn't mean to sound possessive, but he also had to make sure his pack wasn't just running off doing what they felt ws best for themselves.

Hiro huffed softly .

"Yeah ,yeah I know you've said it multiple times." Hiro giggled.

"Your not going to lose me or the others that easily." Hiro smiled sofly at the other.

"Don't worry I'm yours so I'll always come back ."

Tate let his body fall completely relaxed as the sun began reaching over the trees and bathing his body in sunlight. I know that, it's a bad habit of mine. But I still can't stand it. I was really frustrated that my own mate would just up and leave like that. Tate looked over at Hiro straight into his eyes. Then he stood up and left for the den. Be right back. When he went into the den behind the one shrub that managed to survive in the dark with barely any rain to drink, he hid his clothing. He changed into them, tattered and torn in some places, but still fit perfectly. He returned to Hiro and sat down beside him in his own human form.

Hiro smiled as the other returned.

"I'm sorry about that...I can get extreme when I'm frustrated." Hiro smiled sadly.

"Forgive me?" Hiro out stretched his arms as if asking for a hug

Tate shrugged and let out a small laugh. "Yeah, something tells me we both get pretty extreme." He looked over at Hiro as the other held out his arms in hopes of a hug. Tate raised his brow, but the human heart he held in his chest made him hug the other. He pulled Hiro toward him and held him close. "I'm sorry if I seemed to possessive. I just...I hate the city way too much." He ran his fingers through the other's hair as the pack members came out of the den.

Hiro hugged the other tighter.

" I somewhat like the change now that I think about it after being on my own for so long it's nice to have someone that you can count on. " Hiro smiled softly leaning into the others touch as he ran his fingers through his hair.

 

Hiro was so focused on Tate that he hadn't noticed the other members of the pack had walked out of the den.

The members of the pack piled out. Hal, Kou and Rein being the first. They were stretching their limbs, readying themselves for an early morning hunt. Tate told the other three to be careful, especially since the poacher had been seen just last night. When they left Tate acknowledged Hiro's statement. "That's where I forget too. You've lived most of your life with humans. Its not surprising that you feel drawn to them. But I just hate thinking that you've lived your life that way."

 

The other wolves left the den and the pups tried coming up to them in curiosity. He grunted at them and let out a soft growl a sign that told them to mind their manners and go elsewhere. He watched the run off to catch up with their mother before Tate let Hiro out of his hug.

Hiro smiled softly seeing the pups run off, he never got use to the curiosity of the pups .

"Well a small portion at the most" Hiro gently ran his fingers through Tate's hair.

" I want to learn even more about the way of the wolves

"

Taye let the other run his fingers through his hair. Not only did it feel good, but he could physically feel his muscles relaxing against the touch. "If you stay here with us you will. We will all teach you what its like to be a wolf." He fell silent for a moment before mumbling his next words. "And...if you really want to go to the city....at least tell me. That way i know where you are."

"Of course I will next time." Hiro smiled moving closer ever so slightly.

"When I'm fully healed you can teach me much more and we can hunt together too!"
